I purchased this book as a gift for my mother. She has said this is an amazing, personal story. Another masterpiece from Glenn Beck. BUT..... This (and Being George Washington) will be the last overpriced Kindle books I buy - this is not a criticism of Glenn Beck. How can an e-book be more expensive than a hardcover ? Why should the Australian distribution arm of the publisher overprice a book I am buying from Amazon in the US ? Now publishers are directly setting the price through their agency distribution model and taking away any pricing discretion Amazon have, the consumer is being ripped off. The situation is even worse in Australia where this e-book is more than $4 more than the US Kindle version. There is quite a rebellion on Amazon to attempt to fight this - REFUSE TO PAY THESE RIP OFF PRICES FOR E-BOOKS. The market should speak. Simon & Shuster seem to one of the worst offenders here. Instead, if you are an Australia reader buy the hardcover books from Amazon US or UK (free shipping to Australia) for a fair price, and call the local arm of the publisher and make your views known.Also let your friends know. Or just wait for the paperback version. At least this minimises revenue to the local distributer. Congratulations publishers, your complete disrespect for your customers will further harm the Australian book industry and force readers to buy offshore. It will also hamper the growth of e-books if people know they are being ripped off. All this will do is give people a reason to look elsewhere for the e-book and increase the piracy problem.

This book is absoluetly wonderful. I had no idea what this book would be about and truly only bought it after a meditation where I was offered the name of this book. I read it in about 6 hours. Its not hard to read and really pulls on the heart strings. Trust when I say, you need to read this book.

This book had a lot of sentiment in it, and was well based. I found my sister filled three of the characters profiles even though it would hurt her to know it. She was (is) the young girl, the young girl grown up and married, and she was even the young girl's father to a degree. She married a man who dictated her life and the lives of their three children in an abusive manner. He is dead now, but the harm is still there. Those memories will be hard to forget or forgive. Our own father was mentally and sometimes physically abusive, but he changed greatly well before he died in his eighties. He knew he had been wrong and he was sorry for it. I think he had been raised the same way. Glenn Beck has said we have to stop the chain of abuse instead of reviving it with every new generation. He is so right, and I have been trying to do just that. Thanks, Glenn, for the story and especially for the message.

I don't know how he did it, but Glenn absolutely GOT it! The fear that becomes a "normal" part of life, the chipping away of whom you once were, the isolation that becomes "normal" as well, the way the abused convinces themselves that the abuser really didn't mean it or that somehow the abused deserved it for stepping 'out of bounds' ... all these things caused by abuse ... whether verbal, mental, physical, or the fear of physical. It is absolutely amazing how he was able to capture the true feelings of an abused woman. I read this book so quickly, I was stunned. It brought back some memories that gave me shivers. It also reminds me of how far I have come. I think anyone working with "abuse" clients should read this book; it gives great insight. I hope that abused people will read this and recognize themselves, and realize that NO ONE HAS POWER UNLESS WE GIVE IT TO THEM. The only thing keeping you in chains is you. Step away. I never would have picked up this book knowing what it was about. My father had Alzheimer's. The story made me painfully imagine that I was looking through his eyes. The other thing that hit home was the abuse, I was spanked as a child and therefore I spanked. When does a lesson become abuse. How many times have I said something that I thought funny was hurtful? When do verbal comments become veiled abuse. I have become very introspective and learning to become a better person. Thank you for this story. It truly is about anger, co-dependency, fear, redemption, truth, owning up, caring and love. It is well written and I will be giving copies to friends and family. Glenn, this is a home run.

This is the first time I have read a book that invokes some real sympathizing emotion. I have never read a book of this genre but I must say that it was well written and kept me reading. The story development and situations truly made me feel for the protagonist, Rachel. The descriptions of the circumstances and situations are so well illustrated that I am able to put myself in Rachel's shoes that I wish I could reach out to help her. She is placed into a position where she has become slowly imprisoned in her own life that it has become the norm. The other perspective character of the story is Mitch. The way Mitch's world is described is fascinating as it emits a fractured reality based on shards of memories. The sequences of the story invoke a range of different emotions from beginning to end. I read this book in two days because I was eager to see what would happen. Read this book, you won't be disappointed.

Got this and The Christmas Sweater for my sister-in-laws twin boys for Christmas, I knew that the boys were getting into reading for fun, not just because they had to for school. I knew the boys were going to finish quickly, which I think is important to keep the interest of young readers as they may get bored and not have the tenacity to finish a longer book...I think it was a winner, and got their parents two Glenn Beck books as well, Broke and Arguing with Idiots, needless to say, as I am the outspoken conservative in the family, it was a bit of a cheeky gift, but afterwards, I was thanked for not getting on the soap box, but presenting my views tastefully.

I am a big Glenn Beck fan and I was glad to receive The Snow Angel on my Kindle. I finished it in a couple of evenings and I feel like it will help women who are abused, although I think some women are abused much worse than Rachel in the book. Now...the only part that I can criticize is the description of Flagstaff, Arizona. I live in southern Az, but have been to Flagstaff many times. Flagstaff does NOT grow oranges and lemons and it is COLD there. The elevation is 7000 ft. and it receives a lot of snow in the winter. It is a beautiful area and in the summer the Arizona people go there to get out of the heat that they endure in Phoenix, Mesa and other towns close to Phoenix. I had to laugh when I read that the aunt had an orange tree and a lemon tree. You'd better correct that in your next printing. Take a trip to Arizona and you'll understand.

The ability to impart understanding of something never experienced is a gift not shared by many , the LORD gives this sparingly it is certain the author has this in describing abuse he describes a picture you can see and even better understand, not only the abuse but how misplaced love can allow it but even more impressive is how the author can put you ,the reader ,into the confused cloudy mind of the person who is slowly losing that which is his,his memories his mind ,his greatest treasure ,he makes you feel the hopelessness of sliding down a shaft with no way to stop to be able to do this is a gift,a gift to thank the LORD for

I grew up in a not so loving home and have been trying to make a happy home ever since. I can't even describe how I feel now after reading this story. I totally relate to Rachel the main character. She grew up with no defending her from her mother who abused her and ended up in an abusive marriage. I too never had any one to defend me. No one who ever stood up for me. No one knows how that feels unless you have gone through it. This is a story from the heart. It touched mine deeply. I am not sure what I will do with the emotions it has opened in me but I will figure it out one day at a time just like Rachel did. One of the best books I have read in my life and I am sure I will be reading it many, many more times.

In the last few weeks, I read "The Art of Racing in the Rain" and "The Help", two widely acclaimed and very popular books. However, Glenn Beck's "The Snow Angel" was better! Even though I grew up with a normal, happy childhood in a family full of love and siblings, nevertheless, I could relate to the characters. The first chapter, which introduces us to "Mitch" gave me an insight into Alzheimer's that I never had before. Also, we often wonder why women stay in abusive relationships, and I believe Mr. Beck has hit the nail on the head. I couldn't stop reading this, even though it is not your usual novel. Great read for the holiday season or any time of the year, for that matter!

I bought this book for my 2-year-old granddaughter. She hears him on my radio and randomly shouts, "Gleeen Beck." I bought it for her for Christmas for that reason. I knew she'd be way too young to comprehend it, but thought it would be fun. She won't really enjoy or understand it until she's in fourth or fifth grade. It does have a political slant, but his passionate heart always shines through in his literature. Just keep in mind it's for older children with a sweet message.

Glenn, this one is exceptional! It is a heartfelt story that anyone that lives in today's world can relate to. My wonderful dad died when I was 31 and I can still remember him looking at Julie, my daughter, and be thinking about my childhood. I'm lucky I married a man as wonderful as my father. Glenn has captured the essence of family abuse and luckily Rachel and Lily made it Home together. A must read for everyone with a family and about forgiveness from God. A wonderful Christmas book to share with family and friends alike. If you know of someone in an abusive relationship give them the gift of love and hope. A great buy from Amazon.com

Read this in one sitting, loved it. Having come from verbally abusive home (verbal abuse from my mom)and later caring for my Dad with alzheimer, Glenn and Nicole really nailed it. The coming and going of the memories of the Mitch brought back so many memories of my Dad and his fight. Alzheimer sufferers live in the bits and pieces of the past the present is nothing but a murky day dream. Not having suffered any physical abuse it, made me angry that Rachel couldn't be DONE. However, the love of others that come into her life helps her realizes she is of worth and move forward. The guardian angel that Mitch has is also moving. This is definitely written in woman voice. Highly recommend.

As much as I love Glenn Beck, this book came as a complete surprise! It was, for all intents and purposes, a "chick" book!! I didn't find the main character, Rachael, around whom the story is supposed to revolve, as interesting as the other characters in the book. I expected a whole lot more substance, and while it was an interesting read, I don't know that I would recommend it to anyone. With all the hype on it's release date, I really was looking forward to an engaging, in depth novel. I was left feeling like I missed something. From what I understand, this was based on Glenn's past, but why he chose to portray it in this particular fashion is a mystery to me. Truth be told, I was a little disappointed in this read.

I just finished reading Snow Angel. It touched so many feelings. Being at one time a little girl and having a somewhat disturbed home life I could relate with this one. This shows love is deep and when you think others do not care sometimes we just don't know how deeply they do care. This book touched me in so many ways. It is a wonderful story of finding of one's self and how you affect others. Even when all seems lost it is not always. There can be pain and also redemption. As long as one is alive it is never too late. I loved the book and would give it a 5 star rating. Do have tissues close.

what a wonderful book. I would recommend it to anyone who has a family member with alzheimer, comes from a dysfunctional family, and/or is in an abusive relationship. The book really hit some spots in my heart that I thought were long gone and buried. The book helped me understand the abuse I received as a child and the way I treated my oldest daughter. Even though we are the best of friends now I know that I too have left hurts in her heart. The book is wonderful and I highly recommend it. I will be buying this book for gifts to give to family and friends.

The Snow Angel shows how parents can neglect their children and not realize the hurt and pain they cause until it's too late. But it also shows love and forgiveness. We need to realize that there are people who love us and they will give advice that can truly set a better course than the one we may be chasing. Listen to that advice! If you have been hurt as a child, or have been in any kind of painful relationship this book will strike a nerve with you. The ending is definitely worth the read.

The Snow Angel firstly, is not a children's book..it's for adults,men/women,both young and old to relate to a story of a young woman/mother/wife being controlled by a self-centered man/husband. She grows slowly in her married life feeling alone,hurt,and bullied till she is given a helping hand from a neighbor and friend. The story moves back and forth, easily from childhood to adult and from herself to her father's story.I loved the "easy to understand and read" style of Glenn Beck.. and you will too..gives hope and a feeling of confidence and strength. Well done!

Books are great gifts because you can enjoy them before wrapping, but do avoid eating pizza or spaghetti while reading a gift book. That said, I'd love to give "Snow Angel" to everyone on my list. It is a narrative both tough and tender, it tugs the heart without being maudlin. The characters are as varied as humanity itself. This little book deserves a permanent place in my bookcase, to be enjoyed from time to time, so I'll keep this one and order a few more from Amazon for gifts.

I read it long time ago but haven't comment on this review till now. So I can say that it is a good book but forgot what it was about. Glenn Beck is a great guy and always write wonderful books. I know some of you don't like him, but that is how the things are. Like people or not, it is normal. But let me tell you, he is a great person and would love to meet him and discuss with him.

The Snow Angel is a great book, this is a very emotional, moving book that makes you realize how important it is to reach out to family members and make them realize their true value. You will realize how fear can take over your life and keep you from the ones you love. This story teaches what true love in a marriage is and also the importance of true forgiveness. Selfishness can destroy a family. The love of a mother protecting her child is amazing, very good reading.....intriguing

I bought this book for my mother, whom loved it. It was a short read with a lot of heart. For all those people who are not fans of Glenn Beck; don't let that stop you from making this buy. This book is based off of a story and not the political views of one person. P.S. I hate to read, but I did also read this book and more importantly I can actually say it is a book I finished in two sittings.

This book captures you in the first chapter. I couldn't wait to see what happened with each character in the story. I couldn't put it down. If you have ever known someone with Alzheimer's, this story is very true to everyday life. The one thing you never forget, is the love that you receive from your parents and friends throughout your lifetime who give meaning to who and what you become as an adult. Glenn Beck is an unbelievable writer.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I enjoy reading Beck's nonfiction, so I thought I'd give his fiction a try. It was even better than I hoped it would be. It really gives the reader an inside look into the life of an abused person. The character's life was so removed from my own experience that I learned a lot. I have a new compassion for those I once considered "enablers." Thank you for a wonderful and inspiring story!

Like several others who wrote reviews, I'll warn you too not to try to read this book without tissues in hand! I couldn't put it down and read it straight through! It truly shines a light on some of the dynamics of a dysfunctional family and it opened my eyes to the many faces of love. I'll be a lot more careful in determining how others feel deep in their heart from now on. I'm having to re-evaluate many of my past relationships.

This book arrived in exactly the same condition (excellent) as described by the seller. Pages were crisp, clean, and clear of any marks. Binding was tight, and cover looked brand new! This book is being sent as a small gift to a dear friend, and I think that she'll love it. I'm definitely proud to give it to her! Seller also shipped items in a very quick and responsible manner, making them someone that I would certainly buy from again!

For those who do not like Glenn Beck and thus, refuse to read his novels,... what a shame. You are missing some wonderful stories. Glenn is a good writer. Snow Angel is very good. His writing stirred my emotions and moved me. I was "into" the story from page one, empathizing and sympathizing with the characters..... Very, very good book. Dr. Stanley E. I have enjoyed Glenn Beck's books, he writes well and does a great job of painting the picture of his scenes. But with that said, I didn't know what to expect out of this book. It was a real surprise. Read it quickly, was completely engaged in it. My wife snagged my Kindle and began reading it after I was done. She indicated she felt guilty being so caught up in it...looks like I'll be cooking dinner tonight...

An inspiring story of an abused woman's struggle with lifelong difficulties as she begins to value herself and her abilities. Every woman who finds herself in an abusive relationship or has no sense of her own worth needs to read this book. Whoever we are, there really are folks in our lives who do love us and want the very best for us. Once again, Glenn Beck, thank you for teaching and inspiring us.

The Snow Angel is a quick read. The story is touching and takes on the theme of forgiveness and understanding. It isn't a real happy , upbeat book however. All in all, I liked it but I did not love it. The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck was a really great book, so maybe I just had too high of expectations for this one. If you love to read and read often as I do, give it a try and see what you think.

I planned to listen to Snow Angel during a long drive. The next to last CD got stuck in the player, so I was left hanging..wondering how it ended. The book was so good, I couldn't wait till the next day to get the CD player repaired. I downloaded the book to my Kindle so I could read the rest of the story. It was worth the effort!

Loved this book. Easy fast read. It reminds us that forgiveness is not just good for those you forgive but for yourself too. It brings to mind how we see things as children but only what we want to see. As we grow older and experience some of the things our parents did we either learn from their reactions or forge a new path of our own. I cannot say enough about this book!

This is an excellent book. Touching, heart-wrenching and inspiring. I happen to love Glenn Beck, but it makes no difference whether you like him or not. There are no politics, very little religions conotations and actually nothing that one would consider controversial. Just a story of a young woman's life journey.

This book brings you into the lives of a family like many. I felt the heartbreak for both daughter and father. Verbal abuse is tolerated far too frequently. I am feeling bolder about naming the abuse when I see it and speaking up. I am circulating this book among my friends who have shared their experiences in the past. There is a lot of healing that can take place from this book.

I loved the book - stayed up late to finish reading it. I wish it had a 2nd book to read how her daughters life turned out. No problems with the content of the book but it came with free shipping. I didnt realize free shipping meant it would be thrown in a box that was too big for it and include no fill material to protect it against damage. The book did come damaged which was disappointing. I could have called amazon but didnt want to deal with it. I recommend the book but get it from a bookstore or download it.

This is a very well written story. It brings back so many memories of a dysfunctional family life! I really enjoyed the characters. The story was very emotional and eye-opening to what's important in life. It is a deep reminder to cherish each and every second with your family. And how very, very important these ties are! We are blessed to have each other, regardless of our differences!

I know how alcoholism is a disease like a wreaking ball in the lives of families. This book opens the doors and brings light into the traps of the pain it causes. Please read this book and pass it on to friends who have experiences similar to the characters in this story. It is beautifully written. I fell in love with the characters in the book.

I'm sure that a lot of people can relate to the people portrayed in the book, as there are so many children who grow up in this world with both physical and verbal abuse from a parent and wonder why the parent treats them that way. It truly is passed on from one generation to the next. Good job Glenn Beck!

Mr. Beck has such a way with words. The character development in this book is such that, before long, you feel as if you really know these people. What a great story. Mitch's side of the story is such a descriptive glimpse into the mind of the alzheimer sufferer. This is on my Christmas list for friends and family. Wonderful book.

It is a beautiful story of hope and love; of family and forgiveness. It does not make you feel good the entire way though, as it covers the struggle of woman facing a lifetime of abuse and finding the courage to change, break the cycle and forgive. It will leave you with a sense of hope and of a brighter future. I highly recommend it.

This story is so cute and easy for any age to understand. Glenn is a superb story-teller and doesn't let us down with this book. The lengthier one, of the same title, is a wonderful story that tells much of what Glenn has gone through in his life. It is a great book and everyone should read it!

Beck covers the real issue of abuse and how it is cleverly disguised and hid from all but those involved and the effects of it. What happens though is that all are fooled and eventurally when a person breaks out of their isolation, they realize they no longer have to endure it's pain. Very moving, very real.

This book touched my heart on a number of levels. I could relate so much to Rachel and her experiences were so similar to my own. If you have never been in that situation it is hard to understand how people stay in them. Glenn delivers a wonderful insight and shines the light on the hidden crime.

This is a story which brings hope to lives when there doesn't seem to be any hope. A story of reconciliation. I shared it with three other friends and they gave the same reviews. The only problem is that it came to an end. Would have liked to have lingered in the story a little longer.

The story is lacking and not good like his ‘Christmas Sweater’.

This is a great book to lose weight. You will shed those pounds in tears. It was difficult getting through many parts but it has left my world completely changed, and for the better. I guarantee you will look at life differently, yuo will treat people nicer and will not take time or relationships for granted.

This is such an excellent book! It touches so many feelings and, four hours after finishing it, I am still revelling in it. Not only was I crying while reading it, it left such strong emotions in me that I could still cry at the drop of a hat. I LOVED IT!!! Thank You Glenn

It start when the main character is a young girl. It takes to her motherhood and thru a terrible marriage.

What a great story. If you can forget about politics for a few hours (the writer is a polarizing political commentator) and want to read a touching and well written story then get this book. It is an easy read, but very touching and it has a great moral story.

As a family we really enjoyed this book. We also read it as a "short read during a busy month" for our local Book Club. Well received.

I think this is Glenn's best novel yet. It was very well written, touching, and uplifting. It will have special meaning to those who have experienced abuse of any kind in their lives. It's a story of redemption, love and hope. A very good Christmas story. You won't be disappointed.

I picked up this book on a whim and was thrilled to find such a touching read. It has good character building and plot that readers will find hard to put down.

Enjoyed the story of family connections gone awry and how we should be a friend to others -- just to have someone who will listen is priceless at times during this journey we call life. It kept me in suspense until the very end. Would love to see this made into a movie.

This story reminded me of me and my Dad; we were separated when I was 6 years old. The last time I saw him , was at the Funeral Home. I never got the chance she got. I wish that I had. You should never miss the chance.

Simply put. If you are not a patient reader and into wordy and lengthy descriptions and not in the mood to be in the perspective of someone abused, this is not for you. Otherwise I can see how this book is great and will help many others. Excellent work!! Just not my kind of read.

I loved this book! I was a little unsure about it at first due to being use to reading Glenn's non-fiction books but I fell in love with this one. Towards the end of the book, I could hardly put my Kindle down because I just wanted to know what would happen next.

This is not normally my kind of book, but it was very well done and educational. I wish/hope books like this were/are used in teaching. The style was a good way to handle the entwined lives. I am glad it was written and published so that I could read it.

I had heard so much about this book and I bought it with high expectations. I was not disappointed. This is a well written, heartwarning story that would be appropriate for all ages. Thi Snow Angel could be the book to read on Christmas week as a family.

I was very pleased after reading this book. Its a story about love, regret, forgiveness, and new beginnings. A lot of people don't care for Glenn Beck because of his political opinions but all of his novels are great. I definitely recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this story. It brought back a lot of emotions and memories of my own path in an abusive relationship and the beginning of healing once I finally found myself free from it. It was a very touching story and I would highly recommend it to others.

I guess I should have realized that this was a story for children from the cover picture. The story is nice and would be appropriate for children (of all ages). Glenn is a good writer and the story is short and sweet.but would be of more interest to a child.

with regard to alcoholism and it's effects on the lives of our children. The author being a recovering alcoholic brings real time meaning to the contents.

Loved the sweet story a girl seeing things in a different light when she came to realize what was really important.

This book is an easy reading. Pleasant and full of memories for me. It made me cry and made me realize that I am not alone! As always with Glenn Beck I have a feeling of community, of belonging and understanding. Emotional and full of meaning! Thanks, Glenn!

Glenn Beck knows is subject and his perspective on abuse is very much needed in the world today. Its worth the read.

This is a must read for anybody who has had a negetive relationship with a family member and is wanting to be healed. A great story of changing a life of being in an abusive relationship and moving on to success. Gives insight into judging others.

I had no idea what to expect when I started reading this book. It is a well written book and definitely written with passion. I think it is especially heart warming during the Christmas holidays. A good read. Definitely worth the money.

The Snow Angel was so real, I cried. Anyone who has lived in a family with dysfunction will be able to relate to this. There is a good message in this book. Thanks for sharing it, Glenn!

This is a good book. But it is on a very tough subject..... Abuse. I have read the book, The Christmas Sweater, by Glen Beck and it was wonderful. This is a good book also.

For all the trolls who have an ideology beef with Beck and write bad reviews without reading the book, get a life. This is a great book that leaves you feeling hopeful and inspired by the strength of human spirit

This was a very easy read short book. Excellent book. The story was endearing and very well written. Glenn Beck is a terrific writer and easily captivates his readers. All of my children love reading his books. They are aged 11 up to 25.

This is a very interesting book with an unreal ending. Not every battered woman has a sugar daddy when she decides to leave and that is why we have a lot of single women trying to raise families doing 2 or 3 jobs.

I love this book so much so that I passed my copy on to someone else. Had to replace it and this time I put it on my Kindle. No more giving away books I love

This story caught my attention from the first page and I could not stop reading. The poignant connections made between people long estranged or separated by rancor were outstanding. Facing abuse by a domineering spouse brought an important issue into print.

I really enjoyed this book and gave it away because I knew they would like it and get a lot out of it. I highly recomend it to anyone who knows a woman with an abusisve husband. It will help!

I loved this book! I was not surprised though, I usually love most of the things Glenn Beck does...He is fabulous. It will be a quick read because you won't be able to put it down!

What a great story! Yes, it starts out sad but I was crying by the middle and pretty much to the end with a sigh of "What a lovely story for this time of year."

Who would have thought that this would be such a great read? It seemed out of character for Glenn, from his, then, TV show, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We got this book after reading the adult version. The story in this book is wondful. Our kids enjoyed it and so did we.

It was ok but prefictable

The book was a great read. It was a very easy read and therefore it was easy to get into the story.

A book that is well written and touches the heart. Real life, not exactly fitting all our situations, but the principals apply.
