Every time I read this book to my grand daughter she wants me to cook some of the food in the book. And I do, lol

I purchased this book after vowing to purchase more books with characters that look like my son and people that look like us. He's two years-old and instantly took to this book and "Jay Jay". When I ask him which book he wants to read he says, "Jay Jay!" I thought it was a strange read for me at first...all of the "full full full of..", but now I really enjoy reading it to him and he likes to say things with me, like "Clink clank"..."Hugs and cuddles".. Additionally, I live on the East Coast and my mom lives on the West Coast. Due to Covid we haven't seen her much - this has helped define "grandma" for him and the love shared between a grandma and grandson. Thank you for writing this book. Oh! and shout out to the illustrator.

I got this last book yr for my 2yr old grandson. I finally read it to him yesterday. I was sad for him. It DIDNT have anything excited to read about that would catch his precious attention. I had to build a story out of the pictures so that it would be a Bit More Exciting!! It wasn't worth the money. I was returning it...but it was forgotten.

I read this book my toddler every night. The book is one of her favorites. I will be purchasing more book from the authors .

My kids and I absolutely love this book! This is the type of Black children’s book that makes you feel all warm and cozy on the inside from the story to the beautiful illustrations! Lots of the newer Black children’s books are missing that with the more modern illustrations and writing styles. This book is an absolute CLASSIC!! My children loved this book so much that I had to buy a second copy! Get it! You won’t be sorry.

I bought this book to read with my 3-year-old grandson, and he has loved it. So many parts of it remind him of things he sees daily and the special times when I and other relatives gather. Then one day, I was trying to cheer up my 8-month-old granddaughter and no board books were close at hand, I picked up "Full, Full, Full of Love" and read it in abbreviated form to her. When we got to the end where Jay Jay and Grannie are snuggling, she patted the page and bent over to kiss them... then repeated that two more times, I'd say she really liked the book and felt the love.

This book took me back to Sunday dinners! What a great read.

The delivery was quick and the book was in perfect condition. I purchased this book for my son so that he can start practicing his affirmations and he loves it. We read the book every morning before school and before bed time.

I read this book daily to 2 year old as he prepared for his nap. He chose it over all the other books along with his blanket. It's a beautiful story of family, good food and fellowship. It reminds me of my grandmothers house which was always full.

I have been searching for quality books with African American characters. My two year old son loves “reading” books that looks like him. Being quarantined in the house, keeping him engaged and off the iPad is my goal. So when the book arrived, we were super excited to read it. The book was torn in the binding and the last page was discolored. I am quite disappointed in this delivery. The story itself is a great story of family togetherness. I would definitely recommend this book. Yet I would caution Amazon to maintain their prompt delivery while still provide quality new products.

This book was great for me and my LO. I try to get his grandmother to read it everyday. He sits through it and he is 5 months. He tried to turn the pages with mommy too. This is a great book for grandmothers, and I would gift this to one too. I agree with the bad eating habits comments, but that’s only because we don’t eat meat anymore.

She is just starting to look at the pictures and relate to words.

This a very warm story about a family gathering. It's important for me to show my (white) kids black characters, and this is a great example. It reminds me of the way my extended family gets together every Sunday for lunch. My son will have an easy time relating to the book.

I love this book and so do my daycare kids. It’s so warm and focuses on what’s the most important in life: family, food and eating a good meal around a table with your family. The story is fun and kids ask me to read it often. A feel good cozy book- just the right length for a short story time.

The illustrations are lovely and unique, and the title tells you everything you need to know. This book brought back so many good memories of my childhood of visiting my granny. The poetry, the illustrations, the meaning of family. This is one of my favorite books and my two babies love it too.

I brought this book to read to my infant and while reading this book, it brought back so many memories of my childhood and the old days that I used to hear from my parents. One of my favorite books to read to my baby girl.

A joy to read love it

I love how it shows multi family living like how we practice in the black community . Lots of the dishes named in the book sound Jamaican. Which I love and we are Jamaicans. That’s exactly what I was looking for.

This is such a sweet book about a little boy spending time with his grandma while she prepares the Sunday family meal. There's a lovely repetition to each section, but it's not a rhyming book, if that's what you're expecting. I'm especially happy to be able to add more diverse books to our collection, so our little one can experience other types of families and characters who don't necessarily look like her. The details about the food they eat during the meal add a really nice specificity - and will make your mouth water while reading! My LO loves hearing this book at bedtime and we enjoy reading it to her.

Nice rendition of the traditional Sunday dinner. I should have read the description because I thought it would be more of a self love book based on the title. Either way, I like it.

I bought this for my 18 month old daughter because she loved Peekaboo Morning. When it arrived, I thought it was too wordy for her- it's clearly written for older kids- but I was wrong. She loves it and it's become a regular in the bedtime book rotation ever since. And like another reviewer wrote, there's certainly no shortage of children's books featuring all-white casts of characters. I know my toddler doesn't care what race this family is. Here's to a new generation of well-rounded kiddos.

Good reading for my grandson

I purchased this for my friend's son because she was struggling to find books with black characters. I bough this book and five others along with James Baldwin's, Fire Next Time and sent them all in a package with a letter for her son to open when he turns 13. Each year, I'll be purchasing a plethora of books with characters that look like him that also teach him his heritage and this book was included in the first package I sent him, which was a huge hit! I'm so excited to find more books like this to send to my friend's precious son! So grateful to have found this!

Cute book! I’m pregnant and have been looking for more books with African American characters. The story centers around a grandmother and grandson, I thought it would be mother son but still adorable!

A nice short story about a little boy hanging out with his grandma and then having dinner with his family. My daughter is two and she really likes this one. She always asks lots of questions about the different family members. It's a nice way for us to talk about how people in a family are related to one another. She doesn't see her cousins or aunts/uncles regularly so we always spend some time talking about all the people in the story and reminding her that she has cousins, just like Jay Jay in the story.

This book gives me so many great memories as a child while growing up with my siblings and meeting up at grandmas house for a nice big Sunday dinner. I love how the author describes the family coming from their cars and into the home. I love how the food is specifically named and rhymed as its called out on the table. I love how the boy and his grandma have a beautiful bond.

It is about a boy left with Grannie while she is cooking Sunday dinner for the extended family and the boy is hungry and cannot wait for dinner to be ready. In the meantime, lots of special time with grandma snuggling and giving hugs. Given my child's special relationship with his grandmother, I think he relates and just loves the book. Great illustrations of a warm and loving African-American family.

Great for kids trying to identify others with their culture. Not many kids look like my daughter at her school so it's nice to have some reinforcement.

nice and hart worming, good bedtime story

One of my daughter and my favorite bedtime stories. It is TRULY full of love. You can feel it come off the pages. And considering my daughter is so close to her Grandmother, she really loves the parts about cuddling and giggling. It tells so beautifully of a traditional unifying event for most of the African Diaspora - Sunday Dinner at Grandma's house. Beautifully done!

I never write reviews for books, but doing it here because I have probably read this one 500 times. It’s my daughter’s favorite, from about age 1 and still going strong at over 3. We never get sick of it!

Great book for my toddler classroom. My older toddlers love the story, while my younger toddlers have enjoyed talking about the pictures and discussing the family getting ready for special dinner. It was nice to include it during the holidays, when my class has lots of family visiting special meals to share.

This may sound off color, but I bought this book because all of the other children's books have Caucasian children in them, I wanted my child to know that there are children's books for everyone not just Caucasian children. This does have a nice story line to it and the pictures are enjoyable.

I LOVE this book. Great cadence to the prose, so delicious to say all the words out loud. It is a story about extended family getting together and sharing dinner.
