BEFORE HE WAS FATHER CHRISTMAS…HE WAS SIMPLY A FATHER.
Thirteen-time #1 national bestselling author Glenn Beck realized years ago that somewhere along the way, his four children had become more focused on Santa than the meaning of Christmas. No matter how he tried, he could not redirect their attention away from presents and elves to the manger instead.
Glenn didn't want to be the Grinch who spoiled the magic of Kris Kringle, so he had to find a unique way to turn his kids back toward the true meaning of Christmas. He decided the best place to start was by first turning Santa himself back toward Christ.
That was when one of America’s best storytellers began to craft a tale that would change everything his kids thought they knew about Santa—the incredible story he went on to tell them that Christmas Eve spans over a thousand years and explains the meaning behind the immortality and generosity of the man named Claus.
The Immortal Nicholas has now been expanded and reimagined into this novel for adults; a novel full of drama, history, legend, and heart. From the snowy mountains of Western Asia, to the deserts of Egypt, to Yemen’s elusive frankincense-bearing boswellia trees, this is an epic tale that gives the legend of Santa a long overdue Christ-centered mission.
In this novel, Glenn Beck fundamentally transforms the figure that the world now mainly associates with shopping, all while staying true to the real story of the baby who brought redemption and salvation to the entire world.

A Very Personal Connection to a Grieving Man and the Need for Faith
A person at work told me about this book, and it intrigued me enough that I looked up the description. I decided to purchase and read it, and will say that this book greatly affected me. Without getting too personal on a book review, this book hit a nerve that I didn't realize existed. I think everyone will connect to this book in a different way. For me, I had a very personal loss in my 20s that caused me to question my faith. While reading this book, I could feel everything the broken main character felt. When I finished this book, I wished it wasn't over. It was deeply moving for me, so much so that I purchased this book for my Mom and sisters for Christmas. I'm interested to see how they react to it as we all grieve differently. Even if they don't feel the personal connection I do, I think they can appreciate the wonderful literary work of this author. I understand that not everyone will have the same experience I did with this book. But just as I feel my family can at least appreciate how well written this book is, I think anyone that loves to read can appreciate the same.
As I turned the last page of this book, my heart cried....no!
Many people may turn from this book simply because of opinions, thoughts and feelings associated with the author; however as an avid reader I challenge you to open the covers of this book and step into an immortal story of humanity and hope. The beautiful storyline and masterful writing led me like one on a scavenger hunt from gem to gem to home and beyond. I struggle to write this review because sometimes reviews can destroy or diminish a reader's relationship with a story. Yes, relationship. Reading stories like this one is not simply an act of deciphering words on a page but an inspirational journey of soul and spirit. A conversation of discovery. This is neither an historical book nor is it political. As you turn the last page and realise the story has ended, I hope you also say, no! (I want more!)
Excellent story, great narration.
Excellent story. My one son recommended it to me, and I was amazed at how well the story progressed. We (my wife and I) like to listen to AudioBooks as we travel. And while we do occasionally listen to a 'Book' a second time; we usually wait six months or more. However, we broke our normal pattern with this book; we listened to book straight through, and then immediately listened to it again. And then a third time a couple of days later. We thought it was that good. The historical events discussed, the various societies that were encompassed, and the economic conditions of the various locales were all accurately described; which simply surprised me. The author resisted today's 'normal' writers' trick of describing historical societies and environs as though they were occurring today, with all of today's mores and attitudes. It was a welcome and refreshing approach to take; very enjoyable. The book's narrator was excellent. It was a pleasure to listen to him.
Immortal Nicholas- A New Way to Celebrate Christmas
New slant on the creation of Santa that depicts that the character, Agios, was not a jolly old elf but rather, a man with tremendous losses in his life and wants to die but a special mission to become a special family's and baby's protector and through new opportunities to regain connectedness with his inner humanity with new people and situations. Yet, through all these, Agios finds his protected baby years later a grown man and has achieved a new status among the people that lifts and then dashes Agios' spirit by not being able to offer protection for his special charge and this is only the first part of the story. To see the transformation of why Santa does what he does, wears what he wears and why the North Pole, get the book and discover these for one's self.
Just a really nice Xmas story.
Love this book. I have been giving a few of them away a xmas gifts. After they read the book my friends always come back an say it was a nice story with an intertesting look at xmas from a diffrent view. Once you get past the fact that the author is a well know talk political radio person and just enjoy the book for what it was written for you'll like it.
It is true classic, at least for me
I first read this story in 2015 when it first came out. I enjoyed it so much, I purchased copies for members of our family. Recently, I had an urge to read the story again, something I usually do not do with books I've read. Boy, I was glad I did. It had as much impact on me the second time, 5 years later, as it did the first time. It is both sad and joyful at the same time, much like sweet and sour sauce. It is not your normal Christmas story all glittery and sparkly. It has a pace that allows you to feel and understand the characters. I think the story is a true classic.
A Christmas book to savor
Absolutely incredible book that will keep you captivated! This will become an annual tradition to read each year. Glenn clearly articulates each scene and uses such detailed descriptions that the images and characters come to life. His ability to weave facts from history, legends and the truth of the life/death/resurrection of our Christ Jesus is phenominal! As a Christian, I began reading this book curious with how he would pull in the truths of our faith and link them up with a worldly figure, Santa. Mr. Beck makes it almost possible to believe that Santa could exist. The cover and texture of the pages are also unique. The pages have a slightly rugged edge fitting of the historical context of the book. Truly a book for all to read and re-read, year after year.
Not "like new"
Decided to take a chance on this listing as "like new" for a less expensive option for a gift. Very disappointed. Cover jacket has significant wear. Although the pages look in great shape I feel hesitant to gift this book now, but it's too late to try to get a replacement. Lesson learned. Buy new. This should have been labeled as good condition I would think for the amount of wear on the cover jacket.
but I stuck with it and I am glad I did
The Immortal Nicholas starts slow, but I stuck with it and I am glad I did. It drew me in just past the first quarter of the book, and after I was half way I had to finish the book before putting it down. The story telling was well done, and (while the immortal part is still a bit hard to fathom) the characters seemed to fit the time period of the story. You can see the progression of the main character from a person who was mad with the world and God to a person at peace with himself that finds his niche as a toy maker for children. I highly recommend this book!!!
Great concept, modest delivery
If you've ever listened to Glenn Beck speak, not on his radio or tv shows, but really speak at a conference or event, you know he can be very inspirational. That said, I guess my expectations were a little high. It's good, it's easy to read, and it flows, I just didn't find any surprises or real suspense, or anything "inspirational" above the minimum I expected. It's definitely worth reading. I was disappointed to find it at a "bargain" store after I purchased it here, for one-quarter the price.

A great holiday read. Surprisingly good
I frankly ordered this book after hearing Glen Beck speak of it on his talk show. I didn't expect much and just wanted a book to read over the holidays while on vacation. Totally blown away and it is a new Christmas favorite here. It has a religious twist that I didn't expect but appreciated though the story holds even for non-religious folks. Well written story. I would give it for a gift in the future.
irreverent
Although the story is well written, I do not believe a fictional account of St. Nicholas is appropriate. I know the legend of St. Nicholas must have come from somewhere, but I do not believe it is this fictional account. I like Glenn's other books, but I was turned off because I did not really find out where St. Nick came from in actuality.
Spectacular new take on familiar Christmas themes!
My husband read the free sample of this and was hooked! He bought it and since we had it I decided to give it a go too. Oh my goodness. Buy this book if you have found your Christmas spirit dimming! I have not read a book by this author before, but I am now eager to read more. His gift with the wriiten word makes the reader feel as if he is actually experiencing the events along with the characters. Do yourself a favor: Read this before Christmas and get one for someone you love.
Best of Christian fiction
Even if you don't like Becks political views, this story will make you appreciate him as a writer. I wasn't sure where this story would take me but I truly loved the journey. He told this story well and kept it fresh. In the end I was so touched personally that I won't forget it. One of the few Christmas stories worth telling and probably will become a classic.
It touched us.
We loved this book so much at my house, that everyone got a copy for Christmas among family and friends. I have never before purchased so many copies of a book. Everyone that read the copy we gave loved it too. It is a good wholesome touching story for Christmas, or any time of year, but especially Christmas. The book itself was put together well, the cover, the size, the type of paper, how it feels in your hands while reading. Well done. I keep two copies on hand now, as we continue to find people who we think would enjoy it as much as we did.
The Immortal Nicholas
Glenn Beck has written a great Christmas story! I didn’t want to put it down, it was a story of a wonderful man, who may have fictional, but he told of the true story of Jesus and his mission, to save those who believe.
I got my joy back!
This was a wonderful story. I actually purchased it because of all the things about Christmas that steal my joy each year. All the rush, the greed, the PC ugliness, and most of all...the lack of "reverence" for the true meaning and the reason we celebrate in the first place....Christ. As soon as I heard Glenn talking about "The Immortal Nicholas" I knew I needed to read this book. I was not disappointed. I cried through a lot of it. Sometimes I had to put it down for 48 hours, just so I could bask in the emotions it evoked. The story stayed with me even when I wasn't reading it. I got my joy back and I intend to re-read it every year just before Christmas! Excellent story telling with plenty of historical points of interest that put you in another country, in another time.
Long live St Nicholas
It was an interesting story, well put together, and it dealt with historical actions trying to tie St Nicholas to Santa Clause. Beck did a decent job, a little far fetched in the main character living so long, but it did hold your attention and enjoyable. As good a job as anyone can do to make Santa a real character and part of the celebration of Christ's birth. Not an easy job the way advertiser use Santa to promote and sell goods around Christmas.
not Nicholas Flamel
Have to admit that I thought this was about Nicholas Flamel, the 14th and 15th scribe who later was described as an alchemist who discovered the philosophers stone and the elixir of life, which yields immortality. This book is actually an explanation of how Santa came to be. Not as just a giver of gifts but as a giver of hope inspired by Jesus. I am a devote frothing atheist but even I found this book to be an inspiration. It successfully converts the materialism of modern day Santa into a model for living a good life of kindness and generosity. I recommend to all no matter what your religious persuasion.
Great read for this or any season!
"The Imortal Nicholas" is a great read. I it's been a while since I read a book that made me 'feel'. I found myself equating my own experiences of sadness, disappointment and frustration with Agios' experiences. In the end, his journey in some ways, reminded me that our time here on earth has a purpose. A purpose we may not be able to understand at first. I'm glad that I'm not immortal, but I enjoyed this story in which Agios doesn't know where he's going, or why he must endure so much loss. But when he learned to walk with his faith in the lead, he had no need of worry or of regret. He discovered what I've been struggling to learn my whole life: our paths are ahead of us, not behind. We only need to follow and know that we aren't alone.
The Immortal Nicholas, a literary success
It's a story of life, of decisions made, of adventure, of human strivings and triumph. Half way through I checked how many pages I had to go to the end and was delighted I had a bit to go before story's end. I didn't want it to end. It could have; it was a logical place, but the story continued and so I was very satisfied I wasn't left hanging. I also totally enjoyed it because while it was fiction, it had elements of history in it. It was a very good read that I have recommended to several friends, and at Christmas, I gave it to several family members. Thanks, Glenn.
A nice twist to an old tale
A nice twist on an age old tale, we never were told were Santa came from. I feel you can never really have genuine compassion in your soul unless you have walked in someone else's shoes. You need to feel their pain, their loss, understand their needs, and in the end it all comes from God and Jesus Christ was the ultimate example of this. Well done Mr. Beck, too bad many will not read it just because you wrote it, their loss..
A New Family Tradition
We bought the CD's to listen to as we drove across four states over Thanksgiving week. The story is very well developed. Lots of historic detail included which makes it believable. I was concerned about whether my young child, who is a firm believer in Santa would be put off of the story because it doesn't match the idea of Santa, but it works perfectly. The character development for all of the major characters was wonderful. We all have dark days and it was completely relatable. The grief of Agios is something that many will be able to relate to. A wonderful story I am certain will become a family tradition.
Very good Christ-centered way to view the story of Santa.
This is a tremendous book. My wife and I read it together last Christmas, and I ordered this copy for someone else. It really gives a great perspective on how to view the Christmas story together with the story of Santa, and a way that you can teach your children to still believe in Santa while doing so in a Christ-centered way. I can't recommend it highly enough. Very moving and spiritual.
The greatest holiday book I've ever read
This book is AMAZING. The story line of how the reality of Christ and the tales of Santa Clause combine themselves is just enthralling. I started reading this book on Christmas eve around 8pm and didn't stop until 4am the next morning. Now I've bought 3 copies for my church leaders and myself and my girlfriend are both reading it through. Can't recommend this book enough!!!
Great!
This - and reading Luke 2 - was my Christmas focus this year. The approach and character carry through the book was top notch. Keeping true to the underlying Biblical account is here. Surprise is here... reread a few parts to get Glenn's meaning. As a follower of Glenn Beck, I have seen him mature over the recent years - oh, the fun is still there - and as he said himself recently on a post, he has his organization transformed to what he hopes for... and will continue to do so. Thanks - Nice Book.
An absolutely magnificent splendid masterpiece
I finished the immortal Nicholas this morning, it's the best novel I've ever read, and I've read a couple of Glenn's other recent novels and wasn't very impressed, I'm saying that for context to show how great this novel is. I was absolutely floored that the very core of the novel, even to the very last sentence, revolves around the Second Advent (which is the real meaning of Christmas), which is a concept very rarely seen even amongst the most conservative Christian circles. The true spiritual power of Advent lies in the Second Coming, not in sentimental thoughts of a glowing baby in a manger, which is what I thought I was going to get in this novel, but I figured I would give it a shot. There is not even a hint of sappy syrupy sentimentalism in this novel (nor is there even the slightest trace of Mormonism--there is one tiny reference to prayer for a man who just died, but some in the early church did do that). I will just end with saying that is it is an absolutely magnificent splendid masterpiece.
Great story and it could be true!
The idea behind this story stays with you. Gives you lots to think about and makes you smile to yourself every time you see Santa. Until His mission is complete.
WowJ!
My husband and I read this book together during the Christmas season. It was hard to put down. I love the weaving of the story into how the Immortal Nicholas played a part in the Christmas season. I wish I had this book when the kids were growing up to help them see where Santa came into the picture, and his importance. Glen is such a deep thinker, and so creative in what he does in all aspects of his life and teachings. The ending was quite a surprise.
A good Christian read
This is the second publication of Glenn Beck's that I have read and I really enjoy them. I've not been a fan of his personally, but he is a good writer and his books have really good Christian messages. I recommend this book to adult readers. It is not a child's book.
A story of hope and redemption
This story will fill your heart with hope and healing. Not just a Christmas story, the tale is eternal. Cleverly written about St. Nicholas.
Five Stars
Glenn is an excellent story teller
Wait til The End
Excellent read with a great deal of learning included. I was kept involved right up to the very end, which was a surprise.
I fell in love with the characters very shortly thereafter
After the first few pages, I thought "this isn't what I want to read at Christmas" but kept going. I fell in love with the characters very shortly thereafter. It is a beautiful story around the edges of the greatest story ever told. Some of these characters became so real for me that I times I had to remind myself that part of this was fiction. I loved it so much I purchased a copy for a friend as a Christmas present.
Five Stars
SPIRITURAL BOOK AS ONLY BECK CAN WRITE. WELL DONE.
SIMPLY WONDERFUL!
I loved this story! I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a long, long time! It evoked emotions in me that were surprising, beautiful and deep. My heart was broken by the tragedy and despair, then renewed by the redeeming love, joy and hope. The author cleverly weaves the tale with solid Truth and a bit of whimsy, resulting in a remarkable story - one I plan to read every year as a lovely reminder of what is most important in my life. I highly recommend this book!
Future of classic
I really hated how fast I read this book because I didn't want it to end but I couldn't put it down. This is one that I will be reading over and over again.
A great way the stories of St. Nicholas and Jesus are merged
This is such a great book. It weaves a very believable tale of how Santa Claus came to be and how everything started with the Savior, tying all things Christmas together. The way the author described the characters and the events was so fascinating I couldn't put it down.
One of my favorite books!
This has become one of my favorite books! Its a beautiful story wrapping Santa Claus into a story about the birth and life of Jesus! Its Perfect!
I don't like Glenn Beck all that much after the anti-Trump remarks ...
I don't like Glenn Beck all that much after the anti-Trump remarks he made, but this is a really good book. VERY unusual take on the origin of Santa Claus. I highly recommend.
Probably better for a early teen
We didn't get too far with it but my granddaughter was only 7. We will try it again next Christmas. She did understand the part we read though. She started crying and I was surprised it was touching her so much.
What a nice story and a great read.
This is such a nice story. In a world that is making Christmas all about buying gifts, it brings you back down to earth and lets you see what it was like living at the time of the birth of Christ. It makes for a fresh new look at Nicholas (Santa) in a whole new way. No politics, just a nice story, to me it is going to become a Christmas classic. I give it 5 out of 5 Christmas stars!
While it can't be said to be horribly deep, the novel entertained me
While it can't be said to be horribly deep, the novel entertained me. I had trouble putting it down, and always wanted to pick it up again. The characters engaged me, and instead of being saccharine sweet as I expected, the story had a lot of tragedy in it. Like life. I was pleased by my purchase, and the story.
I don't like to read for fun but I enjoyed this book ...
I don't like to read for fun but I enjoyed this book and read the whole thing in a couple of days. It ties the legend of St. Nicholas back to Christ which is what Christmas is suppose to be about. I only wish Glen Beck would narrate an audio book of this and his other stories as I enjoy listening to him tell stories.
Amazing
Absolutley one of the best books I've ever read! Plan to read again this Christmas
A beautiful entanglement
In the hustle of the Christmas season I find great sadness in the commerce side of the holidays. This book brought Jesus and Santa together for me. I read this between Thanksgiving and Christmas last year. I couldn't wait to read it again. I had to buy the digital version this year because I loaned out my hard copy. A new great tradition for me and in the next few years I look forward to reading this to my young children.
Makes you want to smell Frankinsense!
If you need something to get you into the Christmas spirit, this is it. I'm only halfway through with it, but I started it yesterday. I have a 2-year-old or I would have finished it last night! It's a quick read with a good message and storyline. Perfect for the holy-days, especially if you need a pick-me-up to get you into the spirit of Christmas. We give gifts because God first gave us Jesus. :)
What a wonderful truly moving Christmas story!
This is quite possibly one of the best books I have ever read. Very well written I was expecting a story about a man in a red suit and ended up having an emotional ride that made me laugh cry and fall in love with the real story of Christmas thank you Glen Beck I will be reading this to my grandchildren!
A memorable read!
This is one of my all-time favorites! I have given it to several other people as gifts because I enjoyed it so much!
The best book on the Gospel of Christ
This book 📚 is a must read for every believer in Jesus! The best book on the Gospel of Christ. Love ❤️ Glenn Beck's books. He just gets better & better!
One of my favorite books in a long time
I loved loved this book, Glenn Beck is one of the best story tellers alive. I didn't want the story to end. My husband kept telling me "that must be a good book, since you can't put it down" and he was right on that, so he just finished reading it and he too could not put it down and was glad he read it as well. I purchased two more to give as gifts.
Four Stars
good book
A well wriiten story with a twist
Glen Beck weaves a clever story. The first chapter is so sad and leaves the main charater in such dispare. You question how can this be a Christmas story? The book is so much more. It is a story of life, history and the Bible. It is a story for the ages. The reader on the sudio book does an excellent job. The Immortal Nicholas is well worth your time and your money for yourself or as a gift.
Beautiful Story
Amazing story line. Glenn Becks ability to weave fact with fiction is truly great. Couldn't put this book down. Very young children may be unable to appreciate this story but it should be shared as soon as they can understand. It us so worth reading.
Jolly ol' St Nick, sort of
Glenn Beck has a very nice writing style, this is the second Christmas book of his I have read. My only issue with this book is that Glenn felt the need to reinvent St. Nicholas. But over all the story was well thought out and written. I would recommend this as a great Christmas time read.
Prepare yourself and your family for Christmas! Family classic story!
If I could give this story more than 5 stars I would! Beautiful story that tells the truth of Christ and weaves in the story of Santa! It could not come at a better time as my daughter is at the age where she knows Santa is not real. I can't wait to share this with her! This story shares the truth of Christmas and the spirit of the season in a way that we will reread every Christmas! Great way to prepare yourself and your family for Christmas!
Glen n Beck is a gifted storyteller
Great book. Not a fan of his politics but love his prose.
It was a wonderful read!
It was a wonderful read!! It has been a long time since I have cried over a book but this was one. It made me really rethink my idea of Santa in a really good way. I would encourage anyone who reads this to share it with others, younger and older. I plan to buy hard copies and give at Christmas.
Book Review
What a wonderful story. Mr. Beck, thank you for linking the story of Santa back to the true reason to celebrate Christmas. You were able to write the story in a manner that allowed me to make an emotional connection with the characters; celebrate their joys and feel the pain of their losses. This will be a yearly read.
Awesome
Book about pain, suffering, journeys, forgiveness, grace, love, growing with faith in Jesus and his teachings. The true basis of giving from Jesus perspective not the worlds.
This will be my go-to Christmas story every year!
Oh my gosh! This is my newest favorite Christmas story! I bought a copy for myself to read leading up to the holidays and LOVED it so much - ended up buying about 10 more copies and giving them as gifts. Everyone loved them! Its such a special story and will be my go to every holiday season to read in December! Glenn Beck is an amazing story teller and this good is no exception!
A sweet and enjoyable read.
This is one of the sweetest books I have read in a long time but it is not smarmy. It reconciles the whole Santa thing in my heart. I know it's fiction. But Jesus is not fiction and I have always had a hard time with St Nicholas. But this satisfies my misgivings. Anyway I loved it.
Enchanting
I bought this book to read to my grandsons during the week off Christmas. At first I wasn't sure it was the sort of Christmas book I wanted to read to them. The more I read, the more I realized it was exactly the type of Christmas book they needed to hear and would love I cannot wait to start this book with them. They both became Christians this year and what a fabulous book to continue our tradition of sharing special books together. I believe this book will be read to our ever expanding family quite often. Thank you for this beautiful tale.
Good Christmas book
A good and fast read. I had a slight issue near the end but it was a good introspective read on someone's journey of pain, tragedy and purpose. I wanted to read this to my kids (8and under) but might wait until next year as the beginning starts with a tragic accident. If you do then be prepared to talk about loss and life after death.
Such an amazing book, and the way it was written
Such an amazing book, and the way it was written, I could actually play out the movie in my head. (Which I love!) My 12 year old and I have both read it now, and we have only owned it for a couple of days. I would actually love to see them make a movie out of this book! Exciting, emotional and entertaining. A great read for the Holidays!
Good story
Good story. Interesting to see how it connects to St Nick.
An excellent read that stimulates the imagination
Immortal Nicholas will become an annual read for me. The story inspires anyone with curiosity to go forth and read more to understand context and the history of our Christian religion and our beloved Saint Nicholas. I highly recommend this book.
The real Christmas story, told from the miraculous view point of a sinner saved by Grace.
I loved the way this book was a story of eternity and God like Service to bless many. Glenn Beck has once again proven himself a best-selling author. Do yourself a favor and share this book. You will feel good about doing so. I give it a five star rating simply because we don't have a sixth star.
This is one of the best books I have ever read
This is one of the best books I have ever read. Glenn Beck has a way with words and tells a wonderful story. This is the kind of book that I would like at read at least twice.
Excellent story~you will love it
I am loving this book~it was recommended by multiple people.

Just finished my second read. This will become an annual read for me. Purchased this last year and just had to come back again. Very heartwarming and well told story that will bring sadness and even tears at times, but the reward comes near the end. Alleluia!
Grabs from the start
Glenn Beck is a great story teller! I had a really hard time putting the book down. As all of the other books he's written that tells a story. My favorite is his book The Christmas Sweater especially since it is based on his own life as a child.
A Beautiful Story
This is a beautiful story, well worth the read. 5 stars!
Really good story! Exciting
Really good story! Exciting. Couldn't put it down.Great character development and some surprises. Much of it is taught by my church. I have a whole new image of the story of the woman at the well. This would be a great Advent or Lent read.

Read the book in one evening, could not put it down. Loved how developed the characters are and the heart felt meaning of the book. I felt like I was experiencing the book first hand as I was reading it. Made me cry from the beginning.
Great story on how Nicholas could have came to be
Great story on how Nicholas could have came to be. I love the history and how Glenn ties Agios into witness so many of the events that Christians hold near and dear to our hearts. Thank you Glenn for another amazing book. I can't wait to share it with my children!
I enjoyed the narrative very well
I enjoyed the narrative very well. I thought it was a good way to portray the spirit of Christmas and a good way to tie together the religious aspects of Christmas together with the Santa Claus story and all that is associated with him.
An Immortal Tale
The Immortal Nicholas will quickly achieve immortality itself among Christmas stories, for it ties together so many existing pieces of the legends and facts relating to Santa Claus/St. Nicholas and tethers them firmly and dramatically to the story of Jesus – the true Meaning of Christmas. So, more than just a Christmas story, Glenn Beck has given us a profoundly inspirational, deeply stirring Christian novel which presents the whole Gospel in a brilliant, and undeniably inspired, way.
Book
Good story.
Brilliant thriller that brings Christ back into Christmas
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Glenn knocked it out of the park with this one. I wasn't going to review it until I finished the book. I will read this every December as it reminds us of the most important things about the Christmas season. It's comforting to see people bring Christ back into what is meant to be a celebration of HIS birth. I bought this on Kindle and hardcover and would highly recommend it to anyone, also as a great gift.
Well worth reading!
This is a great book that can start off sad but it ends up becoming something beautiful.
Wonderful Christmas story
Wonderful Christmas story! I would highly recommend that every family in America read this book every year at Christmas time.
wonderful, wonderful book
wonderful, wonderful book! Gives a Christ centered view of Santa. Read it to your kids! Give it to an adult. It's a book for anyone and every one. Another fantastic book, Glenn.
Five Stars
Great Christmas gift!
I liked it, but didn't love it
This book was okay. I liked it, but didn't love it. Mr. Beck was just trying too hard to pull at your heart strings and make you have a "come to Jesus" type of moment. It was a bit heavy handed. It's a good story overall, just not very nuanced.
my review
a very enjoyable Christmas story
Sex Free, great read.
This is the most well-written book I have read in the past ten years. It was a great read and I recommend it as a gift for Christmas or any time. It was a pleasure to read a story that isn't riddled with sexual innuendo.
Christmas Time
Good book to read to the family at Christmas time.

I dare anyone to read the first chapter and put this book down... I couldn't! There are far many more capable reviewers than me, but I was moved by this book. Upon finishing this book I wanted to share it my grown children and their families. I pray they take the challenge and read the first chapter, and become closer to God as well.
A Very Deep Christmas Read
I have read several of Glenn Beck's and thought they were well written, but The Immortal Nicholas was a cut above the rest. It is one of the best "Christmas" books I've ever read. The characters were well drawn and intriguing, and the story was compelling and original. I plan to read it again next Christmas
Five Stars
One of the best Christmas books ever!
Another Wonderful Novel
Glenn Beck never disappoints in his novels. I didn't know what to expect as I had not read any reviews and had no idea what the story was really about. All I can say is keep the tissues close at hand. Truly beautiful and unique.
Beautiful Christmas Book
This is an amazing story that ties the birth of the Savior to the legend of St Nicholas. It is magical. It is heartwarming. It will make you cry. And it will make you grateful for the redeeming birth of the Savior. It is a Christmas classic.
Fantastic book!
Just finished reading this book, it was very hard to put down. Many passages, I actually cried and was lifted up in happinessness, not sadness! It was a wonderful story of love, heartbreak and loneliness. That's all I can say, without giving away the storyline.
Great family read for Christmas this year
It's a great book for the coming Christmas season. Easy reading and catches attention from the beginning.
Engaging!
This is an absolutely awesome book. I read it before giving it to my Grand Daughter to be sure that it was appropriate. She is 13 years old and an avid reader. I am sure she will enjoy it very much. The story line is engaging from the beginning! A very good story indeed and one that is sure to be shared.
Children’s book for Christmas
Nice Christmas story
Wonderful story. First Glenn Beck I have read
Wonderful story. First Glenn Beck I have read. Won't be the last. I would give this book more stars if I could. Couldn't put it down and now I'm still thinking about it.
Great book of Glenn Beck's
I loved this book. It gives a different story of Christ birth but yet also about St. Nickolas. Read it through twice and will probably read it again. Keeps you on your toes about what might happen.
Do you believe?
I liked the story and then towards the end I was very apprehensive until the end when everything makes sense. Stick with it!

Excellent read. Glenn Beck has outdone himself with this work. It is remarkably human in that it speaks to human complexity (wonder, hope, blessings and lack thereof, loyalty) and it begs the question, Why? The actors are well-developed and the plot is loaded with surprises at the beginning that pulls the reader in.

This book was recommended to by my son-in-law and my wife read it and thought it was one of the best books she has read. She belongs to a book club and recommended for a must read. All those who read the book said it was wonderful.

Five Stars
Great story about an origin of St. Nicholas. Well done and really makes you think!
easy read and really pulls everything together
completely incredible...can't say enough about this book! easy read and really pulls everything together...very touching.
Wonderful Book for Year Round Reading
This is a wonderful book that I have checked out & read many times from my public library. I decided that it was time to order my own copy. I will probably order additional copies sometime in the future to share with my grandchildren & friends.
Excellent
Easy to read, well documented and well written, kept my attention all times, will recommend it to my friends and colleagues
Great Christmas Read!
I enjoyed this book so much I ordered the audible version to listen to when I was too busy to hold my Kindle. The characters are well-developed and the plot grabbed my interest. I plan to reread it every December.
Wonderful Christmas Story
Such a wonderful story. I truly enjoyed reading this. There was action and heart throughout. I highly recommend this book and hope that we can all get every age group to pick up a copy and read it. It would make a great movie!
Good read, not as good as I thought it would be.
Compelling story, but lacked a thorough development of most of the characters. There was a laborious build up to set up the conclusion but then the conclusion was hurried and left me wanting more insight into the Nicholas character. Sorry, not one of my better reads and was a bit disappointing.
Superb
This was a magical book on so many levels...my son enjoys the story of the nativity so much after considering what possible stories the wise men and the shepherds may have had to share.
It was apsuch a joy to follow the journeys in this book
Absolutely magnificent. It was apsuch a joy to follow the journeys in this book. It was one of the best books I have read in quite a while. This is a book that should be read every Christmas. Bravo, Glenn Beck.

Have read and heard various stories regarding the legend of St. Nicholas. This one, by far, has become my favorite. Wonderful for young and old alike - will become my Christmas tradition.
Truly Inspirational
This is a beautifully well written story about perseverance, faith, and hope. Great character development that has the reader become fully engaged in the story from start to finish. Very different than most stories about our modern day "Santa Claus". This would be an AMAZING movie!
Not my favorite book
A Nice tale. It was well written. I am not sure of creating an additional tale about St Nicholas helps or hurts the cause the author says he was seeking to address.
It’s a wonderful read combining historical fact with myth
It’s a wonderful read combining historical fact with myth; inspired me to take on the role of The Immortal Nicholas in my home town during the Christmas holiday period leaving random gifts for children, as well as homeless adults, with “cards” signed by “The Immortal Nicholas.”
Read this one for sure
This author and this story are certainly not new to me but I had much trouble putting it down.. I am sure this will be a book I recommend and reread many times. Wonderful linking and retelling- There is simply NO NEED to say more.
The real meaning of Christmas...
A great history lesson and how to connect God and the story of Christmas to Santa
Three Stars
Nice fiction Christmas story.
Five Stars
I loved the story. Definitely a good read especially for Christmas. I like Glen Beck's writing.
Wonderful Christmas story highly recommended!
I love this book. It's a great Christmas story. In fact, the only complaint I have about it is that Text-to-Speech is not enabled on Kindle. I highly recommend this story.
Making Santa a Part of the True Meaning of Christmas
Very neat way to tie Santa to the true meaning of Christmas, celebrating the birth of Christ. No matter what you think of his political leanings, I believe most people would agree that Glenn Beck has a special gift for telling stories. Excellent book.
Hope
This is a good story but there are parts that are a bit disjointed otherwise I would have given it 4 out of 5 stars.
Great story about St. Nicholas
Great story by Glenn Beck about the origins of Santa Claus. Part fiction and part history. Very moving and beautiful story.
enjoyed this book
Good read.
Five Stars
A delightful book that combines Santa with the real spirit of Christmas.
Amazing story - = totally unexpected
Amazing story - = totally unexpected, - had to read it through, - complex depth of characters and history, - fact and fiction woven together to tell a new story of an old tale... - You really have to pay attention when you are reading this book. Highly recommended read - L
the best book I've read in years
This is, hands down, the best book I've read in years. While bringing magic and excitement, it also brings the Spirit of Christ to the character of Santa Clause, which has been missing for a long time. I hope to make the reading of this book to my children an annual tradition.
I loved the story!
Wonderful story! Glenn Beck is an awesome storyteller. I think it is his best and this book would be a great movie! This is one parents and children should read together every year. Start in the fall and finish by Christmas time.
Great story from a great author.
Great story from a great author. We love how Glen has weaved the various Christmas stories into this one cohesive thread that brings the true meaning of Christmas back to life.
Fascinating Story and information and a cliff hanger
Another difficult to put down book by Glenn Beck and what a concept!
Reader
Wow! I loved this book! It was so uplifting and inspiring. I found myself staying up all night to finish! What a great story! This is by far the best book you have written!
Worth the read, a very good story!
Glenn Beck writes pathos like it's a personal friend he knows too well, but he's woven it into an inspiring story of perseverance; first just to be able to make one day at a time while searching for illusive hope then, after being given the wonderful gift of hope our protagonist so longed for, to soldier on in selfless service to others. The Jesus Mr. Beck paints is the closest to scriptural of any I've encountered outside the Bible. I appreciate that the obvious love Glenn has for Jesus shines through, it crowns the book, elevating the story's impact to a higher level, and softens an otherwise bleak story. There were quite a few places I cried, but they were good tears. One of the most interesting revelations was that an inability to love yourself makes it very hard for you to see you are loved by others. A good lesson.
This is an awesome book.
I would recommend that anyone seeking the true meaning of Christmas and life read this book. It heart warming and very tender. Glen Beck is a very blessed author.
Well done
I read this book in less than a day because I couldn't put it down. It is such a sweet story and masterfully weaved between the story of Christ and the story of Santa.
Such a Wonderful Sad Story
This book was hard to put down. Such a wonderful story of truth and fiction that made you have the warm fuzzies.
Beck’s Best!
It may sound cliche, but ai seriously could not put this book down.
Good fiction.
I liked the book, but find it strange to tell another false story about the true meaning of Christmas. But I get the intended point and suppose it's harmless, just like Santa.

I thought it was great - should become a Christmas reading tradition - - my Grandson read it before I did - - - I got this for each family on my Christmas list some here at Amazon others locally.
Thank you!
I'm so excited to start this book with my kids. Thank you for packaging this so it came in wonderful condition. I love a new book!
Let's people know the true meaning of Christmas
This was an amazing book. So glad I bought it and would do so again. Loaned it to a family member and they too lived it.
A story about every persons struggle and the salvation of love.
A wonderfully told story the lets the love of God and Jesus Christ shine through. A great tale to show the real meaning of Saint Nicholas. A must read!
Excellent Book!
This was a great book to read aloud. It was very thought provoking. I especially appreciated the way that this story tied the story of the Savior with the story of how Santa Claus came to be.
A REAL treasure!
What a wonderful and different way to see "St. Nicholas". A beautiful but at times heart-wrenching novel which is very moving. A quick read that you don't want to put down. A real treasure !!
Great read, make it a tradition
Wonderful read, great for kids and adults alike. Actually written in a style that is great for reading aloud to children. Many will be turned off unnecessarily by the author, but the message is great.
An inspiring Christmas and year-round story.
Through the years of hardships, relationships and God's love Agios becomes part of a wonderful story of Jesus's birth, ministry, death and the church and living his message through the ages.
I've actually recommended this book to several people
I've actually recommended this book to several people...a couple of them pastors. It was my first Glenn Beck book and I thought it was a very good read.
A need on every bookshelf
Best book ever.
But this was a great book. Very heart felt
I normally don't read much fiction. But this was a great book. Very heart felt.
Slow read
This moves ever so slowly. I kept losing interest because the plot moved so slowly. The characters are developed and some are interesting.
Wonderful story! Made me realize what is really important in life. Thank you. I will recommend this book to everyone I know.
It touched my heart and soul. Even if you are not a church going person you will love this book.
i urge everyone to read this once. it changes lives just even after 2o pages
Amazing book and we are only 2o pages in as a family. We decided to read this with our 5 small children and each one of them have their eyes glued on us as we read this book in like many other books we read. Thank you Glenn for being such an inspirational man of God
Very, very good book. Amazing and makes you think!
One of the best books I've read so far. I'm still reading and now I'm on chapter 2. I did tear up when chapter one was over...I won't lie. It really is a great book so far! Now onto chapter 2!!
Loved it!!!
What an amazing story about the legend of St. Nicholas and how he's tired to the true story of Christmas. I dint know that I'd read it to little ones, for there's some violence, but the story itself is a good one to share. Once they were older, they could read it. Hard to put down!!
Loved the idea behind it!
I loved the idea of the book better than the book itself. My older children enjoyed hearing the story, but my younger children got a little lost. It was great to have the legend of Santa linked to Jesus. It's a good story and a great idea.
True meaning of Christmas
If you are wondering how to make the correlation between St. Nick and Christmas, this is such a great way to find out. Through all the heartbreak and misfortune the main character goes through,my heart broke. But how he comes to terms at the end is truly what being a good person is all about. You will not regret reading this Christmas book.
Excellent read
I thoroughly enjoyed this captivating book. It was my first Beck book, but I doubt it to be the last. Do yourself a favor and jump in yourself!
The immortal Nicholas..
This book or CD need to be bought and read to the FAMILY a week or so before Santa makes it home, they did a Fantastic job on it. Thank you Glenn, Darla Hix
Wonderful Story
A story filled with hope, love, sadness and the hope for all of mankind. Wonderful way to point the reason of Christmas back to Christ
WELL WORTH YOUR TIME
I was totally engrossed in the book once I began reading it. It held my attention all the way to the end. I even purchased it for my daughter (41) and grandson (19) to see if they thought about the book as I did.. It is GREAT!
Five Stars
Product was exactly as advertised and well wrapped to protect it.
Love this Book
A different perspective on how St Nicholas and Christmas began. A biblical story, but not religious. Glenn Beck did a wonderful job in story telling, with hope and faith.
Love This Take on Santa's Origins!
A refreshing spin on the Santa's origins. Filed with action, intrigue and the setting is historically accurate.
Great Story to Renew Faith
I enjoyed reading this book. I wish it was shorter so I could read it to my kids and keep their attention. I appreciate that this book incorporates Santa's correlation with the life of Christ.
Nicholas and Jesus always seemed like two separate things superficially celebrated year after year
The stories of St. Nicholas and Jesus always seemed like two separate things superficially celebrated year after year. This story linked the two in a way that speaks very deeply to the broken parts of my heart in ways I cannot explain. What a beautiful tradition it will be to read this every year the celebrate the unending grace and mercy we are given.
... and I read this book together and we both loved it. We both laughed while we read
My daughter (11) and I read this book together and we both loved it. We both laughed while we read. She (ahem) cried at times... and we both really, really enjoyed this book. Very well done!
Four Stars
Ok, a one=timer for me.
Terrific!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a great story but more importantly reminded me of all the blessings in my life despite my challenges. It captures the true meaning of Christmas.
WOW
The wife and I keep playing it over and over. I think of myself as pretty tough, but several times it brought t tears to my eyes.
I love this book
I love this book!!!! So well written Glen Beck is amazing, his characters come to life. I cried and laughed and in the end Thanked God for all his blessings.
Wonderful story!
Hey wonderful story that uses an ordinary man to accomplish the work of God. Well written, inspiring, and spiritual . I would recommend this to all family members and friends.

Just loved how Beck wove the Santa Clause story into the Birth of Jesus. Have shared a copy with a friend who would love it, too.
Kudos to Mr. Beck
Beautiful book intertwining secular and Christian Christmas tales. Well written and enjoyable. The characters are endearing and believable. Kudos to Mr. Beck!
A wonderful new and refeshing Christmas story that will never betray the True meaning of Christmas!
Many people may turn from this book simply because of opinions, thoughts and feelings associated with the author; however as an avid reader I challenge you to open the covers of this book and step into an immortal story of humanity and hope The Immortal Nicholas is that kind of story weaving the story of Jesus into the creation of Father Nicholas. It is a religious and personal journey that gives the gifts that Santa brings on Christmas a new and deeper meaning without destroying the childhood joy of Christmas morning. It is not a retelling of the true story of Christmas nor is it a happy story of Jolly Old St. Nick. It is full of drama, action, suspense, with twists and surprises. For people looking to bring Christ back to Christmas but still have the joy of Santa this book is a well thought through and developed story. This was a riveting story that had me fully engaged, feeling the emotions of the characters, and feeling as though I was alongside them. This book is a page turner that I devoured within hours! It's a great read that I highly recommend! Once again Glenn, you have created an amazing story. I just wish you would read it for Audible. You are Awesome story teller and I could listen to you read forever. Thank you so much for this. God Bless you and your family.

Amazing book. Combines the myth of Santa with the true meaning of Christmas as only Beck could. He is truly a creative, amazing story teller.
Five Stars
Gift for my Granddaughter. Wanted her to learn the real meaning of Christmas
Say what you will
about Glenn Beck...but he is truly a gifted storyteller. My family chose many years ago to remove "Santa" from our Christmas traditions and instead replace him with St. Nick. This is a FANTASTIC weaving of him with the Gospels. Absolutely beautiful.
Five Stars
loved this story
Great book
Topic well researched as to the history of Saint Nick, and written in a great "story line" - couldnt put a down. I ordered a book for each of my grown children also.
Wish This Had Been Written When My Kids Were Kids
A truly masterful job of weaving Santa, I mean Saint Nicholas into the true story of Christmas. EVERY Christian should own this book to read to their kids and grandkids. EVERYONE WHO CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS AND SANTA should read this book. I so wish this had been available to read to my kids when they were young and so glad to have it now to read to my grandkids.
It is great and inspirational reading
Wasn't what I was expecting. Thought it would be a bible story that I already thought I knew. Boy was I wrong. It is great and inspirational reading.
Stick with it
To be honest I was skeptical at first. The beginning of the story wasn't all that interesting to me- but I stuck it out and I'm glad that I did. This is a great, thought-provoking story.
