This is the series that sparked the love of reading in our 9 year old

I was worried our daughter might never find that same love of reading her father and I have. She had not found a book that resonated and by the beginning of 3rd grade she was barely reading at grade level. Low and behold a friend in her class was obsessed with this book and had all of the girls in the class playing imaginary games based on it. Our daughter begged us to get the first one because she wanted to read it, when it arrived I worried it would be too difficult. Nope- she is now on book 4 and zooming through them. She even stayed up late over the summer unable to put it down. Now she is starting 4th grade reading 2 levels above grade level. Proves the importance of finding a book/series that captures their interests.

I actually bought this on accident

I actually bought this on accident. My 5 yo son and I had read the graphic novels together of the first two books which he LOVED and I ordered this thinking it was the third graphic novel. I was disappointed to realize when it arrived that I had made a mistake and it was the actual novel. I asked him if he wanted to give it a shot anyway and he said yes so we started reading and were immediately hooked. We got through the whole book quickly and both loved reading what was by far the longest book we’ve ever read together. The graphic novels are fun too but this novel provided a whole different reading experience and is a great story. And drawback is there is a bit too much violence for my 5 yo.

I hope you enjoy the book like my daughter did.;)

Great book & my daughter loves it!! Now because of this book my daughter so inspired to draw so many dragons. I can send some photo example of her drawing in this review.

Everything about this book was AMAZING, FUN, AWESOME - think of more good adjectives?

My Thoughts: Yay! I finally get to review one of the Wings of Fire books, because most of the time my brother, Oscar, insists on reviewing them. Anyways, I just love these books. The characters are hilarious, the writing fun and easy, the mystery incredible, and everything else about it amazing. I loved hearing about the NightWings and how Sutherland eases the reader slowly into the dragon's world of war and shows us a little more of the mystery with each book. (Mystery being with the NightWings, RainWings, Blister, the prophecy, and the replacement dragonets...). Glory's POV was one I have waited for for a LONG time (OK, I've a waited for all of them, but who wouldn't want to hear about Starflight, or Sunny, or Tsunami, or.... ALL OF THEM) and it didn't disappoint. Her character was spot-on, and we finally got to learn a little bit more about her feelings towards being a RainWing. Blaze was hilarious - exactly the opposite of her sisters, kind of like a mix between Sunny and Queen Red Riding Hood from the Land of Stories - and Queen Glacier left me curious and intrigued about her character. (As a side note, I'm still confused about why there isn't an IceWing dragonet. It doesn't mention it in the prophecy - maybe the author added it in to show how flawed the prophecy really is? I don't know. Has anyone else realized this?) The end of the book, with SPOILER, Glory trying to become queen, was awesome, too. Pretty much every about this book, this series, was amazing, fun, rolling on the floor with laughter, PERFECT. :)

So many beautiful dragons

I wish there was no war and each and everyone one lived happy life. (Minus evil ones). Seeing Blaze she so innocent and beautiful. I pick her in an instant and just teach her what right from wrong and how to properly care for things or what not to eat and how to fight to defend yourself and those you love. Where is Blaze mate? Who will be her mate? We need these things to happen. We need more of Clay and Peril.

Great adventures!

Our daughters love these books, including this one. They say the writing flows very well, easy to read, great adventures and they breezed right through the series. They can't put these books down! Highly recommended. (Our daughters started reading these when they were eight; one is now nine and the other ten. They have read all of the series including the Warriors series, Wings of Fire series, Seekers series, and Survivors series). They did not like the Survivors series at all. Our daughters did not like the Survivors series because they felt that all the characters were too similar to each-other and the plot appeared to be unorganized and missed it's meaning completely, (vague, confusing plot). In addition, my daughters state that the characters in Survivors appeared to be whinny and undesirable (difficult to connect with).

great book!

i love this series, I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit i'm 30 years old & decided to read the first book because my 10 year old son bought it at the book fair. I just wanted to see why he loved the book & was hooked. Cute, loveable, relateable characters. With so much violence in the media today it's nice to know that when a book says "young readers" it's appropriate for young readers.

wings of fire book 3 The Hidden Kingdom

I read through this book, very well. Its been great. Discovering the graphic novel, in, wings of fire, The Lost Heir, wondering, what was going, to happen. Wanting to, understand more, I'll say, this: Never, ever, forget the wings of fire series.

Highly recommended

I have a avid 9 year old that loves to read chapter books! This book brings fantasy Into his world he loves the first book so much he wanted the entire set! Great book and author! Highly recommend by mom and 9 year old!

This is what great fantasy work is all about

Book 3 is my favorite of the first 5 book saga. It goes into the Rainwing story and into the jungle where you learn so many important things about the dragons and how important culture really is to their happiness! This one is a lot of fun

Making Their Own Way

All the dragonettes seem to be carving out their own path. Glory though has had the most challenging path because she wasn’t even part of the prophecy. That doesn’t mean she is not destined for greatness.

My 11 year old daughter loves this series

My 11 year old daughter really enjoyed this book, and has read several in the series. It has some scary parts, it has made her furious, and made her cry at sad parts. She has never been so engaged with a story line. I believe this book has helped increase her vocabulary and stretched her reading skills in a good way.

Great for older kids too

My 13 year old son loves this series!! Only problem is that they are too easy of a read for him, so after spending $5-6/book (used), he read through two of them in as many days (school days no less). Can't blame the book for that though. He loved the Eragon series too, which took him almost a whole school year to get through all those big thick books. Dragons are his thing I guess. I may read these too, but as much as he loves them I had to give them 5 stars in the mean time. My 8 year old will read them at some point too. They're more at his reading level anyhow.

A Little Bit Dissapointed

The other books are better so far so I think this was a little disappointing. I mean seriously the main action was escaping night wings interesting scale: 😯 Dragon hit by poison: 😫 Missing dragons: 😒 And it was quite annoying with deathbringer flirting with Glory a lot. Here's my emoji for deathbringer: 😒

The Hidden Kingdom

I really liked the way the book was planned out. It was if the story actually happened. Something I may have found concerning is that it didn’t see, to grab my attention as much as I thought it would. Otherwise, it was an amazing book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Happy to find this book!

I purchased this book for my ten-year-old grandson who loves this series of books. We were unable to locate this particular book anywhere else. He was very happy to get it!

Great series of stories

Delivered on time. Nice quality paperback book. Grandson was thrilled. Great series. Fun, full of action. My grandson is 3rd grade. Loves this series of books

To good

I'm making this 1 star so it will be noticed, but I would rate it 9999999999 stars and loved it and I recommend it to anyone that has read the first 2. SPOILER ALERT!!! I love the way the challenge plays out and that Glory STILL beats Magnificent even though she cheats. I also love the fact that Tamarin won his contest even though he is blind and it really had that inclusive feeling to it. I hope you enjoyed/enjoy the book and the rest of them as well.

Fantastic book. Truly a fun and captivating read for ...

Fantastic book. Truly a fun and captivating read for any fantasy or dragon loving reader on any age! Story is about a group of five young dragons who are raised together and have been prophesied to end a war. Can't say more without spoiling it! Great story about friendship, family, and sacrifice.

Five Stars!

I've been looking for a book about dragons. Not dragon riders, dragon slayers, or a girl who get's sent to a dragon's lair by her Aunt. I wanted a book about dragons. However, when I found this series, I didn't expect it to be any good. I was proved wrong. This book is in the point of view of Glory the RainWing. In a world where the dragon tribes are at war, a prophecy has been delivered. Five dragonets will come and stop the war. A SeaWing, a SandWing, a MudWing, a NightWing, and a SkyWing. They were to hatch on the brightest night, and, in their eighth year, stop the war. Glory sometimes feels like the odd one out. After all, it wasn't supposed to be a RainWing in the prophecy, it was supposed to be a SkyWing. And, to top it off, RainWings are consitered lazy and useless by the rest of the tribes. The other tribes think that RainWings are like the decoration of Pyrrhia. They don't really do anything but sit around, sleep, eat fruit, and look pretty. Glory feels differently. She knows that their color changing scales can make them invisible. She knows that RainWings have a black poison in their fangs, able to melt scales and kill any dragon it comes into contact with. Her hopes are dashed when she sees that RainWings really are lazy, don't use their poison, and pretty much only use the scales to try and show off. In fact, RainWings are too lazy to count their eggs. No one even knew Glory was missing. However, she begins to get angry when she is told that RainWings have been vanishing for the past year, and no one has done anything about it, except one single dragon. The one who told her. So, of course, Glory has to do something about it. This book is even better than The Lost Heir. We get a different view of Glory other than the grumpy, moody dragonet we saw in the other books, and we also see she has a good reason why she's like that. We also have a couple of interesting new characters; Mangrove, the mate of one of the missing RainWings, Jambu, Glory's enthusiastic big brother (who happens to almost always be a shade of bright raspberry pink), and Kinkaju, one of the missing dragons, who befriends Glory. I didn't have any problems with this book, and it's also less bloody than the last two. No fights to the death in an arena, no dragon getting their teeth ripped out, no dragon getting stabbed with a SandWing tail. Good, solid read.

MUST READ NO MATTER HOW MANY 1 STARS THERE ARE

Best book series ever written!!!!!!!I am pretty picky about books but when my friend recommend this series to me I knew: If it is about dragons then it is probly supeer duper epicly epic+super mega awesomely awesome!!!Do not ignore this. It is awesome. -Ten year old son

Daughter loves them!!

I have no idea what these books are about and am completely lost in dragons with weird names that seem to act like teenagers when my daughter tells me about them but she’s really enjoying it!! So we bought the first next six to go with the first she got awhile ago.

I foretold this one!

I had a feeling that this event was going to happen, and I was right! I could be an honorary Nightwing! The excitement continues as these five little dragonets make their way around this world of theirs, not knowing what to do or where to go. But as long as they stick together, things will happen as foretold. I think.......

Great Series

Bought it for my 11 year old daughter and ended up reading it. I love the story and cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

My daughter LOVES these books

My kid can't put this book series down. Every couple of days I am buying the next one. As long as she's reading - I am happy!

One of the best ones yet

This one of the best books in the series! Glory, a Rainwing, has never felt like she fitted in with the crowd. She was taken away from the Rainforest Kingdom as an egg by the Talons of Peace when the Skywing egg broke, and her scales always changed color with her mood. After she and her fellow dragonets escape from the Sea Kingdom, they meet a dragon named Jambu and leads them to his home. Read the rest to find out more!

Great kids series

this is a great seriers for young boys and they are also fun to read as a family

Good story telling

A easy book to settle into the characters as always are fun and seem to have grown on me. This book series has alot of potential we will see where it goes from here.

10yr old daughter LOVES this series!

My 5th grade daughter loves this series so much she is reading the books 3-4 times before I get the next one delivered!!

Good read

This is a gift for my 10 year old grandson. He loves this series!

Great for all ages

These books are well written and fun to read. Some students shared their love of these books with me and now I am also addicted. I very much appreciate this author! <3

same as regular series except the cover

I assumed this 1-4 set were different than the originals, like another story line or something because of the difference in the covers. They are not different, except the cover. She now has 2 each of the first 4 books because I'm a dummy and she still wanted to keep them in her collection.

Great series for my 4th graders

My son loves this series. The graphic novels are great for kids who struggle or don’t love to read. They have really helped my son and students enjoy reading more.

for 11 year old granson

He read the first book, and now can't wait to read all the sequels. Holds his interest even though he 'doesn't' really like to read. So as you can imagine when he showed interest in the first book and read it without too much prodding, I jumped at the chance to buy the entire series. Definitely love this author for delivering such a great story for children with interest in mystical fiction books.

Very good book

Enjoyed this book very much, great descriptions, great storyline, love the different twists in there as well. Couldn't out it down once I started reading.

Good product

Order the set of books for my grandson who requested them for Christmas they arrived in good shape in on time I'm happy with the product

BEST BOOK EVER (warning spoiler)

I just love this book I stay up at 1 A.M. reading this and I absolutely love the character glory she nearly killed queen scarlet with her venom.

Dragon series

I purchased this book for my daughter who became interested in the Wings of Fire series last year. I have read the books (1 to 3 so far) as well. They are very interesting and keep the readers attention. The main problem with series books? You have to wait for the next one (due in Nov this year, I think) to come out--that and waiting for your daughter to finish reading it before you can get your mitts on it.... :D

You make your own destiny

The exciting adventure continues. This one is my son’s favourite book so far, and the fascinating story of Glory, a replacement dragonet, turned out to be the most significant one. My son now believes the Rainwings are the coolest, most powerful dragon tribe in Pyrrhia.

Excellent series

My kids (9 and 10) love this book series! It’s a fun read

Interesting dragon series

Dragons are main characters.

Love the story!

I loved the third installment in the Wings of Fire series. The character Glory is a bit harder to love than Tsunami or Clay, but she is still a great character. The dialogue and internal view of the world is great. You really get to see the world from Glory's eyes. The only problem with the book is that I finished it too quickly! Love the story!

Book was in great condition

My 9 year old nephew loves these book. Book came in great condition and on time.

Truly amazing! This book is a true page turner

Truly amazing! This book is a true page turner, down to the last sentence! I suggest this book for 8-14 year olds, or simply dragons lovers!

Good reading!!!!

My son enjoys very much this series

Great for getting teens to read...and adults.

My 13 year old daughter plowed through them. Getting the rest for her birthday. From the outline she's given me of the stories, I might read them myself!

My daughter loves the series

Although I have not read the book, my daughter is a huge fan of the series. If you like dragons, this book is definitely for you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing book!

Book arrived with torn cover

Our son liked the book but I was disappointed it had a tear in the cover when it arrived.

I love her sarcasm

Glory's character really shines through in this installment of the Wings of Fire series. I love her sarcasm. My oldest loved learning about her forest home. The plot of this one was pretty exciting and kept the whole family on the edges of our seats during family reading time.

Highly recommend

Highly recommend for tweens

What I found interesting

What I found interesting was that the Rainwings had a different system for being queen which matches with how they haven't joined the war and also how they are so peaceful. What I also found interesting was the ideas of the sunning decks and that you need a siblings venom to stop your venom from doing what it's doing.

Good book

Good book but hate buying books the kid will read once in a matter of days.

good

good book

Make It Awesomer

Make it into a movie. That would be incredible. I'd watch all five movies. Put it on DVD too. And don't forget to do each dragonets' view according to the book. And another comment, I can't believe that Starflight got kidnapped by his own tribe. Keep up the awesomeness. Love, P for Puppyyy x

Perfect

Used for gift

My 11 year old girl loves it

Um.. (looks embarrassed).. I wish I could say something about this book but I know nothing about it... all I know is that I purchased it for my 11 year old little girl (who admittedly loves dragons in the first place) and she really loved the book.. wish I could say something more helpful other than just adding my own 5 star rating to the others listed here..

Worth The Wait

I breezed right through the first two books, the whole time on the edge of my seat. I was so upset I almost cried when I found out that I'd have to wait a few months for the book to come out! But finally, I saw this and I immediately pressed "Buy." And it was SO GOOD! I cannot wait for the next one, and I hope it will be worth waiting too! I would recommend this series to anyone who loves dragons, or enjoys the warrior cats series. ........ Heck, I can't think of anyone who wouldn't enjoy this! FIVE STARS!!!!!!

Love this series

Love this series, it's imanginitive with out allowing you to guess where the story line is going. Memorable characters, can not wait to read the next book in the series and buy them for my grandkids to read!

These are great books for budding AR readers to get their point ...

I have read this series and my 7 year old daughter is almost through book three now. These are great books for budding AR readers to get their point on. They have a great story line and are not inappropriate for younger ages. can't wait for the newest book to come to our home!

Four Stars

It was a gift for my grand daughter who wants to read it she loves it

Great for 13 year old boy

This books serie is awesome. My 13 year old cant get enough of it

Great Series! Some Scary Elements for Younger Kiddos

One of our younger readers LOVES this series. This is the third part of the story and the dragonets take to the rain forest to continue their adventure and see if they are indeed the dragonets from the prophecy. If your kiddos enjoy the Warriors series or any sort of fantasy reading, they will love Sutherland's Wings of Fire series. These are probably better suited for the later elementary years as the dragons do commit murder and the humans in the story are mere pillagers that are seen as simple snacks by some dragons. Nothing is too graphic or too violent, but those more sinister elements are involved in the story and could be too scary for a first or second grader.

Five Stars

My 11 year old son and I are completely enjoying the Wings of Fire series.

Yay!!

Finally i have the third book of wings of fire!!

A really great series in a wonderfully described new world

Glory's story. A really great series in a wonderfully described new world. Filled with non-stop action and adventure along with hard choices about growing up and accepting who we are. A lot of themes about acceptance; family; and the power of friendship. Great read for both boys and girls.

Perfect for Fifth Grade

My daughter loves this series! She is an advanced reader and we've had a hard time finding appropriate books for her. She has been reading every spare second since discovering this series.

Love the series

Great story! :) I read it in a day. :p So happy my kid brought it home from school... lol

Five Stars

Daughter LOVES these books!

RainWings!

This series are awesome! I couldn't believe it when Glory became Queen of the RainWings! If I was a Dragon I probably would be a RainWing. The venom and camouflage sounds so cool! Glory would be a great Queen to have.

Great fun adventure!

My 11 year old nephew insisted that I read these books because he wanted to share them with me and I am glad I took his advise. These are very fun books, adventurous and relatable.

Love the series

Okay, I am an adult and I like to read young adult literature. Mainly because I can read it in a day or two. One of my students recommended this series to me. And I love it. The story line is great for both boys (because it is about dragons) and for girls (because it is a story about friendship, not to mention 3 of the 5 main characters are female!!) The only thing that bothers me is that I can't get my hands on the next book fast enough!!

Five Stars

Enjoyed this series a lot.

Glory Rocks!!

Reading this series with both of my sons and we love it. Really enjoyed this story about the Rain wings. Loved how Glory's character develops. Can't wait to start book 4.

My son (9) loves the series and is absolutely devouring all the books. He quotes from the stories and is very enthusiastically reading them - trumping TV and the internet and all gaming.

A Great Book

My 10 year old son loved this book.

Amazing series, reading it through a second time

The first 5 books in the series parallels the latest “Dragonslayer” legend book. I love reading both sides of the story from the scavengers and the dragons point of view. Can’t wait for book 14.

One of the best books of all time

This is the third wings of fire book and probably the best. I love the new characters they added in especially deathbringer(who is a total beast). This book has action battles a good plot and lots of laughs. Over all I give this book a 5/5 because it is so awesome.

Happy with my purchase

My 10 year old loves these books! They arrived as stated and quickly!
