A wonderful Bible study especially if your wanting a sample of different teachers
I honestly had only heard of 2 of the ladies who are teaching this study. But my friends and I all agree this is a really neat way to find new teachers and get a sample of a few. The format of the book is great. And I really enjoyed learning about these different OT people and books (some I knew well of and others not so much). The only “downside”, in my opinion, is the switching gears and styles. Each week you are introduced to a new character and the teaching lesson comes from the middle of the teachers whole Bible study on that one character. So you can tell there’s lots of good info you’re missing out on by doing an abridged version on 5. I guess that means I have found the next 5 studies I will do! Haha! The ladies teaching styles were all SO different. That was a little challenge but also good to help hone in on the style of studying that I like. Some weeks it was more fill in the blanks and answer some pointed questions while bouncing through the pages of the Bible. Other weeks there were no blanks but a vast space to just write, coupled with deep thought provoking questions and/or allegories.

Not my most favorite Bible study I've ever done. While it's a good idea to have so many amazing women Bible teachers do a study together, I was a little irritated by the fact that they literally just took studies that have already been done in the past and shoved them into one study book. I had already done over half of the studies in this book before we chose and started the study, so I was already disengaged by that, then they kind of throw you into the middle of each study every week and you spend a little bit of time trying to figure out where you're catching up in the story, and I really didn't like how they never wove the stories together as a whole. If you are a beginner this would be a good study to start with, especially when it comes to studying people of the Old Testament, which can be overwhelming. However, if you are a more seasoned Christian, I would pass on this one.
The Most Choppy Study
It seemed like a good idea... all these amazing teachers covering some of the greatest Old Testament hero’s. It fell so short when they just grabbed random lessons from these teacher’s studies and threw them all in one book. My Bible study group would watch the videos one week and complete the studies the next. Only problem- the studies come into the hero’s stories midway and then the study ends before we know how the story ends. This book was put together as an afterthought- not a true study of any hero.
Its OK
We used this bible study as a "filler". We needed a 4-5 week study. This study has daily 'homework' but isn't too intense/time consuming. Another positive is that you don't need to do the weeks in order, you can skip around or check out one of the individual studies to see if you like that Bible study teacher and it is not consecutive so if you miss a week its no big deal. This study was perfect for what I needed. BUT, I didn't love it. I found it difficult to jump into each week "in the middle" of that particular study. It felt choppy, I need consistency and for lessons to build in content. I also discovered I that I prefer certain bible teachers (there were several in this study that I have never done a study with so it was good to get an idea of how they teach and what their studies are like.
