The Captain Underpants Extra-Crunchy Book o' Fun

Wasn't sure what to expect out of this book, but I must say we weren't let down. There are activities for the children to do such as word searches and mazes along with mini flip o Rama's. It also shows children in the beginning how to create their own comic book. Overall this book was a great buy that is also interactive for kids and adults.

A must buy for Captain Underpants lovers! My son loves all the different books from Dav Pilkey so when I saw this, I knew he would love it. He took it on a road trip with his Aunt and really enjoyed all the fun activities inside. He is eleven years old, but this could be for younger reads as well since he has been reading this series since he was seven years old.

My son LIVES for these books. I know it's not the best example of a book that enriches a child life or anything, but it did get my son interested in books and reading. That was the most important thing to my husband and I. He gets so excited every time a new on arrives! I think they've read 7 or 8 of the books so far. They read them together each night before bed, so we all kind of have a special love for these books, I think we always will. The stories are goofy and funny, they don't have valuable lessons really, they are just fun and goofy and good.

My daughter asked for this book for XMAS but we had other items planned for that holiday... instead I picked it up for her 7th birthday and she could not be happier. This "book" is mostly filled with activities - word puzzles, mazes, stickers, that sort of thing. So, I mean, the title is accurate. My kid loves it. Great gift for any Captain Underpants fan.

I chose thsi rating because it's a fun book for little kids and my little sinblign seem to like it a lot so I bought the item for their birthday. They could not get their hands off of it for a couple of weeks. I am glad I bought this book, it brings so much memories when I was a kid. Overall, the packge came as expected so no trouble at all.

Dav Pilkey writes the most interesting children's books that a mischievous little boy (or girl?) would want to hear. We have bought and read the entire series as well as the Diaper baby and robot books and are waiting for more.

My son loves the books, so when we bought this one, we thought it would be a real winner. We were, unfortunately, wrong. The problem is that it is an activity book whose pages unbind and drop out too easily, and it is not a good size for laying down and writing in or drawing in. Because it is the same size and binding type as the "reading" books, it just doesn't lend itself to being an "activity book". Content is fine and right in line with the other books. I just think the execution is lacking.

I bought this little cartoon paperback for my grandson. When I asked him what he wanted & he said 2 of these little books. I checked with his mother first because I didn't know what they were & she said fine. They are just cartoon. He's a young teenager.

We have recently purchased Extra Crunchy Book O'Fun after reading about half of the Captain Underpants series By Dav Pilkey, It is a fun way for the kids to learn how to draw the talking toilets and prof poopypants, there are mazes and comics and flip o ramas. My son really loves this activity book. Dav Pilkey seems to know just what little boys like to read. What a great author.

My seven-year old was super pumped to find this in his stocking!

Although this isn't a great work of literature by any means.....it encouraged my 1st grader to read! He had to get everything Dave Pilkey wrote. He read all summer long! He's in 2nd greade now and has moved on to chapter books, but every once and a while the Captain Underpants books come off the shelf again!

This activity book encouraged my son to draw. I never realized he was so good at it. We had a good time doing the other activities together.

These books are truly a delight for young kids, especially boys. It plays into their inherent sense of mischief and fun/fantasy of beating bad guys. It is also a great read for adults ask -- my wife and I sometimes find ourselves reading the books alone… Wait, did I just admit that? I better delete THAT sentence before I post this review....

Our grandson loves all of the books. Some of the happenings may seem super silly to adults, but they sometimes get a chuckle even out of US.And of course the adventures are hysterical to a 6-year-old boy...or maybe any boy under 40.

The seller was good. I got the order quickly. Amazon did not list the book as used though, so the seller refunded my order. This was no fault of the seller.

It was used and warn but the discription forewarned of that so I knew to expect it. There were still lots of pages untouched that we were able to enjoy. Good price and good description

As my two grandsons like the Captain Underpants books, I bought some as a birthday present. A quick look at the contents left me very disappointed and the main reason for that is that the character's words are so grammatically incorrect, they made me shiver. How can these books be educational for young children, when all they learn is incorrect grammar!!!! It seems to me that they would have had more educational value if the correct words had been used. I wish that I had reviewed these books before buying them.

I should start by saying I didn't read the description before I purchased this, and I should have. I bought it for a student who beat me in a reading competition. He is a fan of Captain Underpants and chose this as his book, as it is the only one he doesn't have. When I asked him what he thought of it, he said it was "stupid" and that there wasn't much to read.

Since I NEVER received the book I cannot comment on it! I received no contact from the company nor did I receive a credit to my account

Not what expected

Ever on a quest to discover delicious books that would tempt my struggling and most reluctant readers, I decided to get past the title and those "tightie whities" on the cover. So as the school year began, I finally gave Captain Underpants a try. I purchased several copies of Dav Pilkey's Epic Novels & casually added them to the "buffet table." Most of the seven to eleven year olds in my special ed class shy away from "challenging chapter books." So for them, the Extra Crunchy Book O' Fun works on many levels. It makes Captain Underpants accessable to all my students, and meets the diverse needs and interests of each one. It has all kinds of reading & all kinds of learning for all kinds of kids. Mine all learn differently, most have attention-deficit disorder & many would rather draw than read any day of the year. A quote from this book is now the theme of an interactive bulletin board, "...be prepared to suffer for your art." It's been so motivating that now I've bought each student his/her own personal copy of The CU Extra-Crunchy Book O' Fun. They'll be great holiday gifts. I began reading the first epic novel aloud during shared reading and students started sitting still, listening attentively, for longer and longer stretches each day. AMAZING!! Dav Pilkey is a genius! Harold and George and Captain Underpants have brought us through some of the darkest days in our lifetime. Laughter truly does heal. Dav's books are now flying off the "buffet table." We have added so many more, including the deliciously cheesy Giant Robot series of easier chapter books. Our inquiry-based literacy projects have been enriched by Dav's web site(davpilkey.com). How students wish "WEDGIE POWER" would work on the terrorists! If they reissue Dav's first book, World War Won, we may find out!

My son had this book for a while and just started picking it up to read it. He is in 3rd grade. He showed me the book and asked what some of the words meant. I started looking through the book and saw that there are many spelling errors done on purpose. These are in places where they have special notes or stories (presumably written by a younger person telling the story in the book). Since most kids learn how to spell many words from reading, I don't want my son thinking that this is the correct way to spell particular words. Some examples from the book are: Special spelled speshel, Formula spelled formyula, concoction spelled concockshon, poured spelled pored. There are too many more to mention. I tossed this book; there are too many other good choices out there.

As huge Captain Underpants fans, my kids loved this activity book. They loved the comics, the jokes, the puzzles, the silliness, the everything. They had a blast with this activity book. My son has enjoyed listening to Dav Pilkey books for years. We would read them to him as an infant, toddler and now he loves to read them himself. He has read the books Dav Pilkey wrote for school age children, all of them. The "Book O' Fun" books, he really has appreciated the activities included in the fun pack books, based on "The Captain Underpants Series." He is especially fond of the step by step examples given for drawing the different characters. We would recommend any of Dav Pilkey books. Your child can grow with the wide range of creative books Dav Pilkey has published. I suggest parents browse Dav Pilkey's various book collection and maybe even give him a try.

My son loves the Captain underpants series and this is one set of books that even makes me smile. I thought we would tire of them after a few, bit so far each has been fun and makes bedtime easy. My son loves these books so much that sometimes I find him running through the room with a cape and underpants on going "tra-laa-laaa" :-)

I really liked the Crunchy Book of Fun. My favourite thing about it was the Professor Poopy Pants word search. My father helped me with that and I did some on my own. I like it so much that my mom and dad are geting me the second Extra-Cruncy Book of Fun. It is my favourite Captain Underpants book and I like all of them so far (I have read the first 6). All of the puzzles had already been completed, but I kind of thought they might be, it being a used (work)-book. At least they had been completed in pencil, so I'm happy with the purchase.

I read the whole lot of these (well, all that were out at this time) and giggled at them. This wasn't as much fun as the others because it was just silly unrelated activities. . . .

If you have kids that have enjoyed reading the 4 Captain Underpants books before, they will surely love the gags in this book. Although it's not an epic tale like the previous chapter books, it is full of the typical "potty humor" that is classic Pilkey. Some of the jokes are a bit over the top (or should I say "in the sewer"?), but if you don't mind that, your kids will surely have fun doing all the activies, especially the mad-lib fill-in-the-blanks story. Just be warned, it might keep kids up half the night laughing if they read it for their bedtime story time. Or worse, they might need to change their pajamas if they laugh as hard as mine did!

My nine year old book hater loves this book! So it's silly and full of potty humor; IT GETS HIM READING! My brand new copy is now bent and riffled, and it got him interested enough to start reading the "chapter books". Hurray for Captain Underpants!

This book is great, including that it has ideas to make a comic book, ideas to make FLIP-O-RAMA, and a whole new Captain Underpants Comic Book "Hairy Potty." This is A++++ Material.

If you are looking for the next ''book'' in the CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS series,look elsewhere. This is a collection of jokes,games and puzzles,great fun for car trips or long plane rides,but with no real story. RATING:B-

My 8 yr old is usually glued into one of these books, I have read them and I guess you really have to be young to get into them, they are truly silly to the point of no return. But, hey, as long as they are reading! She gobbles every Captain Underpants book she gets her hands on and the charter school she attends hands them out for reading so many books per term. Good reading for kids!!!

As an activity book or comic relief, this book is purty good. As CU or a novel, forget it. Withoutta doubt, no plot, no humor, no CU! Puzzles involve characters of CU books. There's even a create-a-comic! These puzzles are, well, fun! BUT! Beware, CU fans, the series is falling, and I think we should cherish the CUs we have

I bought this book for my 9 yr. old son for his birthday. He loves it. It is not a story book. It is a collection of puzzles, brain teasers and a comic "written" by Harold and George. While it is not what I was expecting, my son thinks it's great. Would definitely recommend it for 7-10 yr. olds. My son doesn't like reading but he'll read Captain Underpants, so we own all of them.

Good variety of stories and puzzles

I chose this rating because it kept my hyperactive grandchild quiet for ages. Quite a substantial event for a child who spends his time climbing the walls!

Another easy read for my 6 year old. He does not understand many words from the book but he keeps laughing trying to read and also picks up some words that he tried to pronounce and laughs out at the cartoons of master underpants. always a fun to see the little ones trying to read without moving away. due to the books the TV time has gone down significantly

My 9 year old loves this series and these bonus books have great games, drawing and also a feature kids can create their own story. The whole extended family had a blast adding their words to create a story. This inspired my son to do his own fill-in the blank story.
