Grand Canyon, North and South Rims [Grand Canyon National Park] (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map)

Map is actually great! 5 Stars for a great map in usual NatGeo quality. 2 stars though for junky product description. The description says this includes Havasu Falls, Mt. Trumbull Wilderness, Joshua Forest Wilderness and the Indian Reservations west of GC National Park. This map includes none of those! The areas covered are strictly the area around the National Park. I bought this for my trip to Havasu Falls, but they're not on this map. This map is #261, and I guess I need #262. Me, not being an expert in Nat Geo's trail maps, relied on Amazon for an accurate product description and am really disappointed I didn't get one. And, on the east coast, trail maps of Arizona aren't something one just picks up at the outdoors stores. Now, I have to order the right map and wait for that to come. Thanks for wasting my time Amazon with your POS description!

I really love nat geo's trail maps, this things can hold up really well. I had a stack of them out on this last trip through the southwest. Its not mine if I haven't spilled coffee on it yet apparently well knocked a cup over right on the maps at first I freaked out but after a quick trying and leaving in the sun the maps weren't even phased. As for the map itself, I carry them on all my hikes and haven't been disappointed when i have to use them on the trails. Another thing I use them for is planning my photography shots, it gives me a bigger picture of everything so I know what the terrain looks like, what direction each "viewpoint" is before I ever get to the parks

I have many, many of these maps and bought this one to replace a years and years old much used map. The new map feels just as thick and sturdy as the last one. This paper is waterproof and easily folds back up. The colors are vibrant and trails easily discerned on this map.

Bought 261 & then bought adjacent 262. The scales are 3x different! So can't easily match up when you go from one to the next. Who does something like that?!?! Nat Geo apparently.

Was looking for the Rainbow rim trail and surrounding area just outside the north GC. The part I needed to see on the map was covered with the map key. :-(

Reliable, weatherproof, accurate map for the central core of the park. Easy to carry and holds up to repeated use. A sidebar indicating basic geologic cross-sections as in other guides/maps would be very useful as a quick reference while going up and down through the layers.

All National Geographic Maps of this type, are not 1:50,000. They are in fact 1:70,000 scaled!!

Great map, printed on durable paper. I brought it in my pack for my rim to rim hike and it held up perfectly in case I needed it.

This map looks like all I'll need. It covers all the spots I wanted to do and has mileages. Only, I haven't actually been to the park yet so can't vouch for the accuracy of the map.

So helpful. Easy to read. When applying for a backcountry permit, you'll need the area Codes that are clearly labeled on this map.

Excellent map with excellent features and valuable information about the region. You owe it to yourself to have it when you are planning to go to the area.

Perfect for the exploration of the Grand Canyon! Very detailed and thick. Won't tear like the thin paper ones.

The usual map but made out of a plastic-like paper. Waterproof. Good for hiking/Outdoors.

Elevation markers are okay but the details of the map help out a ton. This got us there and back again across the GC.

Just what I needed to explore the Grand Canyon rims.

Easy to read topo map with all the trails and campsites marked. Must have for planning a backcountry trip. Buy a guidebook along with it.

This is more of a hiking map than a driving one

Handy to have.

This map has a lot of helpful information. It has an "Average Temperature" chart which was great because I never would have realized that it is actually hotter at the bottom of the canyon than it is at the top. There is some info that probably becomes out-dated, like shuttle bus operations and camping availability, but still useful. Only downside is that it is relatively heavy (because it is waterproof and tearproof). It weighs about 3.5 oz.

This is a very detailed map, a great resource, but too much for what I needed.

Doesn't give individual trail distances like other NG maps.

Only covers the N and S sides near the visitor centers

I ordered this map to take with on a Rim to Rim trip my son and I are planning for June 2010. The map is detailed, but a little large, and some of the detail is hard to read. Otherwise, this is an excellent resource, that is advertised as water and tear resistant, and this appears to be the case.

Bought this for my upcoming trip to the Grand Canyon. Just as I've come to expect from National Geopgraphic, this map is great. Very detailed, and made from a durable material.

I'm planning a hike with my son and grandson down to the river, camp at Phantom Ranch and then climb out the next day.

Easy to understand and accurate,I recommend to everybody to want to hike the Grand Canyon. Thanks again National Geography, always counts on you.

I am hiking the north rim of the canyon and then up the south rim and this map has all the trails on it. We'll see how accurate is when I actually walk it.

I thought this was a map of Grand Canyon National Park. In fact it is just an area in close proximity to the visitor center and the more heavily visited areas of the Park. If you are looking for a complete map of the National Park, this map does not cover it.

Exactly what you need for a Rim-to-rim hike. Haven't actually used it yet but I'm sure it's all you'll need. Details everything on the way, including other trails that lead to nice overlooks or waterfalls.
