Gideon - Bible Study Book: Your Weakness. God's Strength.

The book is great. The only downfall and reason I return it, its based off a 7 week video series. Which, is more money that I didn't plan on spending. I didn't know this when purchasing it.

Studying the old testament is not really something I enjoy, especially those first 5-7 books. I don't think of Leviticus, Numbers, and Judges, for example, to be exciting, but when my Bible study group at church said it was this book we would be doing I bought it and went along. I will say Priscilla does an excellent job shedding light on Gideon, doing a good but easy job informing us more on the book of Judges, and ties it all back to modern day us and how, even today, it's still relatable. The book study guide has pushed me (in a good way). I now know way more than I ever did about Judges and Gideon, and even behind the scenes info. She does great job with thoroghness and repetition.

The book came in perfect shape. I love Priscilla Shirer. This study is interesting and very good. She writes it well and you learn a lot about the charter Gideon and the events surrounding his story. The book was brand new, no markings or bending pages. Great price for the book too. I would defiantly order again and recommend for others.

This is a good book. Why? Because the author goes into great detail about the life of Gideon. She gives good background about the book of Judges in the Bible. She writes in such a way as to connect with people who struggle. I have heard her ministry (the author's) is keyed in on women. But I would disagree. This book is for both genders. This review is only about the book, not the DVD series. I like it, very much!

My home Bible study did this and we absolutely loved it. For anyone looking for Bible studies- Priscilla Shirer it hard to beat. The Full Armour of God is also awesome

Can't go wrong with Priscilla Shirer. She gets better with each study she does. In "Gideon" she speaks to women right where they live, applying his story to our lives in today's society. Thought-provoking, exhorting, encouraging! Highly recommend.

This is just an EXCELLENT Bible Study - recently led our Women's Bible Study groups through the seven weeks. There's something for everyone, no matter what "level" they are at spiritually. Priscilla is such an excellent communicator of God's Word - it's difficult to follow up with another study when the expectations and the "bar" has been set so high!

I will say Priscilla does an excellent job shedding light on Gideon, doing a good but easy job informing us more on the book of Judges, and ties it all back to modern day us and how, even today, it's still relatable. The book study guide has pushed me (in a good way). I now know way more than I ever did about Judges and Gideon, and even behind the scenes info. She does great job with thoroghness and repetition.

Teaching is from the Word of God! Good stuff!

This is the second study I have by Ms. Shirer. The first was "Jonah." Both books are bible based, thought provoking lessons about the stories of two great Biblical men, and their struggle with obedience. Excellent questions. Excellent biblical connections where certain issues are addressed in other parts of the bible. Love her style of writing, and the knowledge I am gaining from reading her books.

The product was damaged. The envelope was bubble wrap and the envelope itself was not damaged so it appears it was placed in the bubble wrap envelope already damaged.

Priscilla is always a pleasure to invite into your home!!! I have a ladies' bible study at my house. We watch the DVD and review the homework. I have to say that she is right up there with Beth Moore as being one of my favorites!

The book is used and I didn’t expect it to be in new condition. I expected the cover to be in slightly better shape but I realize it is a used book with some wear and tear. The inside pages were as I had expected.

The book was helpful; but it was almost too serious/heavy. Overall, with the well done videos and interactive aspect of the bible study group, it was wonderful.

Do not hestitate to dive into Prisicilla Shirer's study on Gideon! I am going through the study with over 100 women in our church and with men and women in our Small Group (12 people). Everyone is totally enjoying the study! You will be challenged, encouraged, and strengthened in your faith as you complete the workbook and listen to Priscilla's messages.

This is my first Bible study with Priscilla Shirer. I am using this book as part of a weekly women's Bible study that also has DVD teachings. But it could easily be used by itself. I like her style of writing,and her DVD's give a little more insight. This is a study of the book of Gideon,written for women. I enjoyed this study and learned a lot about strengthening myself in the Lord.

Loved Priscilla taking us deeper into Gideon and explaining what the passages mean. ❤️😘

There were some minor scuffs on the outside of the book. The inside is perfect. Not a mark on it.... I was also very pleased when it arrived earlier than promised, and wrapped very well. Very happy with my purchase and the cost.

This is an incredible study! It's considered a "Women's Study" but it's appropriate for everyone! Very encouraging, introspective, and challenging. I will definitely look for more of her studies.

This book goes along with a video series we are currently studying with a group of ladies at Church. Priscilla is a fabulous speaker and this book goes along well with her videos. Very enlightening.

This study was a perfect word from God at a time I needed to be encouraged. I would recommend it to anyone who wonders what they should be doing or how they can accomplish something God has called them to do.

Amazing study! Not only it helps us open our eyes to identify areas of improvement in our lives but it also helps us realign our focus on God.

It will remind you that if you just submit to God, doing exactly what he says, no matter how crazy it may sound to you, He will do wonders through you and bless you abundantly. We all need to realize we cannot do anything in our own strength that is really worthwhile and important to our Heavenly Father.

Really enjoyed getting to dig deeper into Gideon's story. Gideon's story is only a few chapters in Judges but it was a perfect 7 week bible study with just the right amount of homework. This bible study met me where I was at and I enjoyed it, I enjoy Priscilla she always make me feel a part of her group and makes me look at things differenly. The DVD's were well gone and kept my interest, I am not sure if it was just my copy but her mouth did not match what I was hearing, it was off a little, I felt a little like I was in a Japanese movie but as long as I listened and didn't watch it was all good. Highly recommend this study.

Great video. Great workbook. If you are limited on time and cannot seem to do homework, the video does work well on it's own. The content in the workbook is not a repeat of the video. Of course, using both video and workbook is fantastic.

The book is great. The only downfall and reason I return it, its based off a 7 week video series. Which, is more money that I didn't plan on spending. I didn't know this when purchasing it.

Studying the old testament is not really something I enjoy, especially those first 5-7 books. I don't think of Leviticus, Numbers, and Judges, for example, to be exciting, but when my Bible study group at church said it was this book we would be doing I bought it and went along. I will say Priscilla does an excellent job shedding light on Gideon, doing a good but easy job informing us more on the book of Judges, and ties it all back to modern day us and how, even today, it's still relatable. The book study guide has pushed me (in a good way). I now know way more than I ever did about Judges and Gideon, and even behind the scenes info. She does great job with thoroghness and repetition.

This study has been life changing for me. God has clearly revealed to me weekly the areas of my life that I need to rededicate to Him. With His guidance, I am making adjustments to habits, relationships, and behaviors. I can't recommend this workbook/bible study enough! God sent it at exactly the right time. Priscilla Shirer does a great job in how her lessons, chapters and questions are set up. I am learning so much. I also recommend downloading her video sessions as well - totally worth the extra cost.

I did enjoy this study a lot. Priscilla bases the study on the life of Gideon- the good, the bad and the ugly. She makes it very relevant to the lives we live today. There is a lot of deep material in the book as you go through your daily studies. The videos are very engaging... I never found myself checking my watch. All in all, it's a good study and can be life changing!

I am giving three stars do to it not being clear I needed a DVD for this. But I will say, ANYTHING, Priscilla Shirer does is magnificent!! I was so excited to get this. Turns out I can't order the DVD that is supposed to come with it. I was doing this as a personal bible study and the DVD comes with the Set for a group for almost $200. Bummer, I guess I will have to return. 😐

Wow, I did one of Priscilla's earliest bible studies and it was good, but this one is great. Her research is very interesting and digs much deeper into the text than I do at this point in life, thanks for doing it for me Priscilla ;) And she takes the reader to a personal level that, if the reader is willing to go to, will help each of us to grow tremendously. It's kind of like Spring cleaning for the heart. The result is a cause for celebration? The other good thing about this study is that is was enjoyable both by myself and in the group time.

I wanted to join my first online Bible Study and was intrigued by the lessons around Gideon. This book is very well written and offers pearls of wisdom, thought-provoking interactive questions and challenges you in a way that's both simple and touching. It is broken down into days and weeks. You'll read scripture, complete the supporting section of the book and answer some questions relating to what you interpret from scripture and some relating to your own personal struggles or connection to Gideon's weaknesses and strengths. This Bible study workbook will be a valuable asset to reflect upon after-the-fact as well. Priscilla Shirer's writing is easy to relate to and genuine. It's always nice when an author writes Biblical teachings without getting so deep in theology that the less knowledgeable are lost. This is educational, but easy to digest and will stay with you. Very recommended and empowering. "Learning to overcome weakness by giving it to God" is the main theme and I think everyone could benefit from reading/working this book.

I am only on week 3 of this bible study and can't wait to read more. This is a great book. If you are interested to dig in deeper into Judges this would be the study to do it with.

Terrific study! Priscilla's insight and application of the truths contained in Judges 6-8 are a blessing. A study that I plan on teaching again.

The book is great. The only downfall and reason I return it, its based off a 7 week video series. Which, is more money that I didn't plan on spending. I didn't know this when purchasing it.

Studying the old testament is not really something I enjoy, especially those first 5-7 books. I don't think of Leviticus, Numbers, and Judges, for example, to be exciting, but when my Bible study group at church said it was this book we would be doing I bought it and went along. I will say Priscilla does an excellent job shedding light on Gideon, doing a good but easy job informing us more on the book of Judges, and ties it all back to modern day us and how, even today, it's still relatable. The book study guide has pushed me (in a good way). I now know way more than I ever did about Judges and Gideon, and even behind the scenes info. She does great job with thoroghness and repetition.

Excellent book! Incredible LIFE CHANGING book! So much encouragement and hope is found in this book. When I read this book I am having a hard time putting the book down because there is so much wonderful information in this book! It is also a helpful book in showing me how to apply the teachings in this book to my daily life. I also enjoy all the historical information about what was going on at the time of Gideon's story.

Excellent study on the life of Gideon. The parallels to Gideon's weaknesses and how God used them and how we live in modern society are eye-opening. The accompanying video goes too quickly to fill in the blanks at times but thankful the answers are in the back of the book.

I have enjoyed this book, but am disappointed because I did not realize that there were video lessons that go along with each week. The videos were not mentioned anywhere. I can not access the videos and therefore feel like I am missing out on valuable info and tools.

I've always been partial to Gideon's story so it's great to hear how Priscilla Shirer was also drawn to it And so may insights to consider! It's great!

Product arrived and the front page was torn. The inside was clean and not used so my wife decided to keep it as it's a workbook for her study group and needed it now. If we had more time before the study then I would have sent it back. If you order something "new" it should arrive as if you just took it off the shelf. Otherwise the book was in good condition and was useable for her study group.

Theology seems thin. Also, the book that goes with the video is basically a bunch of fill in the blanks, 'underline this on page 20', circle this or that, and not a lot of real critical thinking going on. Her bend toward Dispensationalism is clear and she tends to lean toward 'proseperity gospel.' She lost a star (originally I had given it two) for "hashtag lessons" at the end of each lesson. How trendy and silly. She says to 'write down your #lessonfromgideon' at the end of each one. That is when I just couldn't stomach it anymore. I mean, #really?!?

Our Women's Bible Study group did this study this fall. We truly enjoyed the DVD teaching and learning more about Gideon...someone we knew litte about before this study. I would recommend it to other groups.
