Sometimes being silly can be deadly serious.

Alonia is the kind of elf who wears a pretty dress to go gathering in the forest just because it makes her happy. And it seems to work. It gathers her a dragon, one who likes to be silly and moon over cute boys just like she does.

Which is all fine and good until they turn the weapon’s master’s sword into… well, I can’t tell you. That would be a spoiler. ;)

Dragon Kin: Alonia & Trift is book three of a fantasy series for readers who love dragons, ordinary heroes, and bravery that has to be earned one day at a time.

A note from Audrey: I tell stories of hope, resilience, belonging, and finding what (and who!) matters. I do that in a lot of different genres, but you’ll always get those things in an Audrey Faye book. :)

At last

The wait for this book seemed endless, but understandable. So cool to see Mother and daughter continuing to work together on this series. I enjoyed immensely this, the third book, and really like the direction the series is headed. The ''dream''trips back in time and the communication between the past and the present is handled well, and i for one am already awaiting the next. For lovers of stories with dragons and humanoids equal in partnership, go,get it. Highly recommended.

Heroes are not always traditional

Yes, our Alonia and Trift are defintely silly and fun loving, but as we find out, that doesn't mean you aren't a hero in your own way. Not all heroes are big and bold. Not all heroes can step in and just effortlessly save the day. Our bonded pair here tend to look on the bright positive side for the most part. They struggle with the gift they have been given and have a hard time trying to live up to everyone's expectations. Another lesson here, in that not all can be taught in the same exact way, and teachers can learn new paths to help. Friends support each other and help ease the way as well. I love the time hop with the ancestors evolving in each book and what the world shapes each generation into, and how you can start to see how each has developed into the way they are. I absolutely adore Kis and Irin. They are strong, gruff and to the point, as well as injured in their own way but they don't let that stop them. Every know and then they show a soft side that doesn't come out often, which makes it even more enjoyable. This series has now made it to the top of my to re-read short list.

Dragon Kin Book 3: Loved this book and Love author's style and voice

There may be little things to quibble over but the overall story of love and hope and caring and friendships take me to a place I want to be. I bought all 5 books after reading the first 2. I LOVED THIS STORY, and the series so far. I'm on book 4 now. Reading one after another. Will need to check out her other books. It is hard to find good authors - at least authors I relate too. And Audrey Faye is one of my NEW FAVORITES! Thank you Audrey. OH, I even went to her site and signed up. I also love these words from Audrey: "I tell stories of hope, resilience, belonging, and finding what (and who!) matters." Truly, my heart feels lighter after reading each Dragon Kin book.

Great series!

I was drawn into the stories almost immediately. The mixing of dragons with elves and humans is magical. Couldn't stop reading the series. Finish one start another unless it's midnight or later. Must be read in order as each book is a continuation of the story. Each book is from a different character/dragon mix. Plenty of crying due to her making me feel the characters love, empathy, sorrow and caring of friends and "kin."

Different but unique

Alonia and Trift like to have a good time, both are very at home in the forest and find they have a unique gift that comes into play at a very crucial point in the story. The bonding process brings them closer while they discover just what it takes to make their gift work when it counts the most.

Extraordinary!

The books just keep getting better! The idea of kind dragons is an old and dear one. The idea of telepathic dragons, newer, but still wonderful. Couple this with elves as "kin" and it makes a wonderful story, especially showing the two of the species as enemies in olden times. The characters are stronger and more "alive" as each story is told. The plot is easily followed and the ending most satisfying. I could not possibly recommend this series, more.

Thank you

Audrey Faye, you continue to be my FAVORITE author and now Shae is writing with you. I have not been reading for awhile, caught up in other pleasurable things. I needed some restful time and there you were. How do you do it? Write such wonderful books - all of your books under all of your names. I am so grateful to you for touching my heart in so many ways through so many characters and stories. Thank you. Love, Linda

Fascinating concept with the future and the past

Fascinating concept with the future and the past meeting and helping each other. The wisdom of the lineage of Queens continuing to benefit future generations of dragons. Wonderful imagery and storytelling.

Fun Easy Read

I loved this series. The world building was great and the stories were full of inclusion, overcoming fears, and kindness. They were a breath of fresh air. They were also great reads. I couldn’t put the books down and could not wait to find out what happened next. Perfect YA stories.

Enchanting story!!!

The characters are engaging, feisty elf and lazy dragon who doesn't like flying. The plot goes from present to past and vice versa, and resolves with a wonderful twist. I loved this book, and intend go go on reading the following books in the series.

I love this book series

I have read all the books in this series and love them all. They are suitable for all ages and filled with humor, adventure, and very appealing characters. Trift and Alonia are funny but the authors also do some character development that the youngsters need for the big battle that is coming.

Delightful

This is a story of triumph of character without all the noisy distractions of so much evil. I’m filled to the brim of evil warlocks conjuring dark demons....I could just read the news! Non of that here...just a great tale of character that is well fleshed out in an entertaining story. I will immediately open the next book in the series. Can’t wait!

Another good story in the series

This is not a read alone book. Too much is talked about in the book that you have to know from the first 2. However, the story of Alonia and Trift is well written. This is a great Middle school YA series.

I love this series

These books are different because the protagonists do battle with their inner demons instead of other people. That may come in the future, but for now it's a nice change from the usual action-adventure type stories.

Silly vs Serious & What's Your Talent

Another cute installment of elf and dragon pair becoming more than their friendship. Definitely YA, but sometimes in all the adult stress you need some cute with coming of age. Nicely written.

Shades of Pern

I am really enjoying this series. The characters are engaging and the world building is very good. I will read the rest of them.

I truly enjoyed this book

I truly enjoyed this book. Alonia is a genuine soul who wants what's best for her friends, up to and including trying to find a dragon for her friend Kellan. She was very surprised when the dragon she found was not who she thought it should be for.

Loved it!

This 3rd book in the Dragon Kim series teaches just as much as the first 2 taught. If you like books about Dragons this is the series for you

Audrey pulled you into the story

If I had a complaint it would be the books are too short, I am already keen to read the next one. As a fan of her other works I can see the same style of writing, building a picture and adding to it each book while keeping the characters of previous books involved in a way only Audrey can. A worthy series

A lovely 3rd installment in the Dragon Kin series

The featured character and dragon are a wonderful duo and their story is nice, just nice. The story is lacking length, and depth to the characters. I love the novels and the authors and I’ll buy every one, I just wish there was more than fluff.

Magic and wonder

Alonso & Trift remind me of the power of spring....hope for new beginnings, the release of stress through silliness and whimsy. Not all heroes are warriors or scientists.

The best of the series, so far

The last lines of the book are so moving, as is the last part of the book. Really enjoyed this. Now reading Book four. Enjoy.

Another fun read

A lesson to be learned about how we see our selves as we want to be and what we can be. This elf-dragon bond is just plain fun

The saga continues!

I loved this book! It was a great addition to the series and came at a perfect time! Now, to wait patiently for the next installment...

Loved it

As with all books by Audrey Faye...I loved it :) More please :)

Five Stars

Dragon kin , the whole series is good.

Loved it.

Another sweet story

I loved how playful the (main) protagonists of this story are. I can’t wait until the next installment of the story!

Touching

I'm going to make this simple, Audrey's writings and now her daughter, touch my soul in a special way. Can't wait for the next installment.

STORY IMPOSSIBLE

THE STORY WAS READIBLE, BUT THERE WAS TWO IMPOSSIBLE TIME PARADOXES. I LIKE A LITTLE MORE LOGIC IN STORIES.

Great Raed

Really enjoyed and could wait to read the next one

Good story

this is a well written story keeps your attention and leaves you wanting more

Very good

Excellent

Dragon Kin: Alonia & Trift

These stories are so wonderful! As usual I traveled through the story laughing and leaking sad and happy tears. I can't wait for the next installment. Thank you both!!!!

The power of love and laughter by ordinary individuals

Full disclosure - I received this book for free but there was no requirement to leave a review, let alone a positive one. I have read nearly every book by this author (including the witch series under her prior name) and paid for virtually all of them, so my review should be considered relatively objective and independent. Really enjoyed the book. It’s the third in the series and a step up from number 2, which I enjoyed but didn’t love. I can honestly say I’m even more excited to continue the series after this book. One of the consistent trademarks of this author is all the stories ultimately get solved by the power of love and this story is the same in that regard. However, this is the lightest book in the dragon kin series as it focuses around the value of humor and mischief and the value that adds to a community, as well as how even those of us that are “ordinary” can be called to use our gifts to do extraordinary things if we are willing to believe that we can. Read it and you’ll enjoy but you will be pretty lost if you haven’t read the prior two in the series.

An especially special story that all should heed

We so often forget the power of fun and silliness, especially with our children. At the ends of their lives it is the fun times with their parents, teachers, and mentors they will remember, as well as those with friends. However, the pearls of wisdom that come from all of those people will also have an impact. Elhen knows this and in this story Alonia, Trift, and others of the village begin to learn it. Older readers like myself will remember and perhaps wish they had read this story as younglings. I do. I know I failed my children in this aspect, but recovered a bit by the time I became a classroom teacher (sadly after my children were grown with younglings of their own), though the school system is not as conducive to fun learning as it could/should be. Readers with children will hopefully learn and apply. Younger readers will hopefully and wisely remember it when they become parents. Everyone should apply it to their own lives. It will make them longer and better! Much learning, living, and wisdom are gained through play, and, yes, through silliness, as well. Small children instinctively know this but we adults tend to cut it short and curb it too much and too soon by imposing reality on them. Superb story (and lesson and reminder)!! Have fun with Alonia and Trift and beyond!!! Thank you Audrey Faye and Shae Geary!

Loved it

It starts off with the queen of the old dragons narrating. Then switches to modern times. (Well, modern times for the story.) And switches back & forth throughout the story. I love how they show it's not easy for either dragon or kin. They have to work hard, independently & together, to learn & improve, and like life, it's always a work in progress. The only problem I have is with the use of the word "kin". In my culture, it means relatative. Someone who came from the same gene pool. So every time dragon "kin" is mentioned, I keep thinking sibling, or cousin or aunt/uncle & try to figure out which dragon is being referred to. Sometimes it took me a while to remember. 😂 Anyway, I read all 5 books & loved them all. I was really happy with the outcome of the last book.

they make that beautiful connection that makes them Kin

Newest in the Dragon Kin series, Alonia and Trift add another piece to the puzzle of how dragons and elves finally join as friends after having been enemies. Alonia is an elf who loves being silly, flirting with boys, and has no plans for anything serious. but when she meets Trift, a green dragon who loves to wander, they make that beautiful connection that makes them Kin. Alonia is no good with a sword, and Trift isn't much of a fighter, but they discover that they have a talent that is born of simply having fun -- a talent that can ultimately become life-saving.

Beautiful!

I love Shae and Audrey's stories. They are so light and carefree and yet hold meaningful messages that can carry over into our lives as well. If only we might choose to apply such to our everyday, mundane lives. I just wish I had a dragon to bond with as my own. The dragons like Trift, Oceana, and Lotus are such joys to read about and, surely, Fandellen's story will be no different. And little Quira is the turning point of the entire series. I have no doubt about her role. I just hope that Kellan gets a dragon of her own soon. It's all she's ever wanted and she's as deserving as anyone else, if not more so in some cases I think.

Another wonderful story!

It is something you begin to understand with time and having read at least a few of her books, Audrey Faye does one thing over and over again in everything of hers I’ve read - she touches your heart. The title characters are playful partners who generally want to avoid serious responsibilities and need to learn that stepping up to the plate doesn’t mean you have to lose who you are. It’s a lesson delivered by the authors with humor and gentleness and a genuine feel for/of community (another theme common to Faye stories). It’s impossible to tell where her daughter’s input is in the Dragon Kin stories because the books read as a seemless whole, but if that input is significant, it’s clear that Shae Geary shows promise as a lovely storyteller as well!

Another Star is Born

Note: I received this book as an ARC for review purposes but it reflects my honest impressions. This is the third book in the series about 4 close female elven friends, their bonding with their dragons, and their coming of age. They will have a key role to play in preserving dragonkind. If this reminds you of Audrey's Karma Corp series in that she takes each character of the four and writes a book about her story, that model seemed to work well so why change things? But it's the dragons' stories that are so unique and delightful and the reader can see Shay's hand in each one. The narrative is beautiful and poetic and the drama comes from the growth of the characters rather than external threats. The plot wanders a bit more than usual but the ending will bring tears of joy. Highly recommended!

Wonderful addition to the series

There are very few authors whose new releases automatically get placed on the top of my (very tall) to-be-read pile, jumping ahead of books that have been pleading for me to read them for months (and some, I must admit, for years.) Audrey is one of those few. Not because her books are automatic NYT bestsellers (though they deserve to be) or because they are being raved about by the most vocal critics (though they deserve that, too) but rather because they are pure magic. No matter what I'm going through or what mood I'm in, Audrey's books never fail to leave me feeling better about life, better about myself, and better about the world. That is certainly true of this one, the tale of a young dragon and his new kin and the lesson they must learn about being heroic even when all you want to be is ordinary. It is an uplifting, happy tale about courage and owning your strengths, even when they don't look like anyone else's.

Book 3 of the series!

I loved all of her books when she wrote as Deborah Geary. I continue to love everything as Audre Faye. I am even more impressed that she is now writing with her daughter. I have bought all of her books. Audrey sends me Advanced readers copies, with no request of a review. But, I write 5 star reviews because they are my favorites! I read around 250 books a year. I have many authors I am crazy about, but Audrey is at the top of that mountain, and now so is her daughter.. If you love to read, as I do. Go with this series!

Silliness meets magic and heart

I received this as a free copy with no requirement to review the book. It is my delight to do so, however. As usual Audrey brings her deft balance of humor, character development, and thoughtfulness to the newest of the Dragon Kin stories. I wasn't sure I was going to fall in love with Alonia and Trift--they seemed a bit shallow in their desire to keep their lives ordinary and undemanding. Yet, as their bond grew, their hearts stepped up when friendship and courage was demanded. It was a great reminder that strengths come in many forms and that silliness can be a superpower!

A good fantasy story.

As a whole the series was a work of art.. helping ones to see past imperfections, or disabilities.. to see the good in everyone and work together to create a better environment for all. Unfortunately in book 3 the Author bought into the nonsense that the only males who are fun loving, flirty and creative are Gay. I was disappointed. If she had just left sex on the shelf the entire series would have been clean enjoyable fantasy reading.

I love this series!

At first I thought.. oh this book is frivolous and just maybe a break from the action.. like a side quest.. but nope. It’s turned into a beauty! Purple and Blue are my fav colors and purple and green is my fav color combo.. which is the color of a queen and her fav color. I know it seems simple and silly but underneath even ordinary people can become heroes.

A captivating story with unexpected twists

This was a delight to read, funny, light-hearted and captivating. The best in the series yet, I think. The story centres on Alonia, the elf, and Trift the dragon, two characters who share an inability to take life seriously, and a liking for fun, frolicking and forests. They are more than happy to leave the heroics to others. Until... I was sorry when the story ended and very much look forward to the next book in the series.

As good as the rest

First, Indie receive free copy of this book - but that didn't matter, I would have paid for it and given it a good review anyway. As usual, I am in awe of their talent. Each character is well delineated and relatable. You care about these people. A llthough it is listed as "young adult" it's also a good read for actual adults.

Truly fun series

I have read almost of the author’s books and have never been happy setting them down in the middle of a story to take a break. As I am not a person who reads and forgets a good book, I have continually returned to these books to read over and over again. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories.

Great book in a great series

This is a really interesting series written by Audrey Faye and her daughter. (I love that!) We learn more about the dragon history in this book and there is a very interesting twist towards the end. These books, as do her others, always have thought provoking situations that are relevant to our own lives, even if this story is fantasy.

Delightful

This is a delightful installment in the series. Each book can stand alone, but there is a story thread that builds in each book. This mother daughter duo strikes a nice balance and present a story that will engage and delight young tween and teen readers as well as the more mature reader. The world building is very well done. I could nearly see the woods and smell the ocean. Can’t wait for the next installment!

Wonderful read, highly recommend

Beautiful in the joy and light that it is written in. Wonderful characters, and Audrey’s telltale voice that gives life to even the smallest of moments. Alicia and Trift’s story is worth reading if you enjoy dragons, joy, friendship, silliness, and deep hearts. This did my heart a world of good, being able to emerge myself into a world of such joy and wonder.

Great story

I love the way the present and the past are connected. How a Dragon bonded with an elf can be happy, carefree and brave. I got to really know two more characters discover who they are and be challenges to become more. Love it and can't wait for the next installment

A third chosen

I really can't say just how much I am enjoying reading this tale. Not with out repeating what I have already said before. I am simply awed by this incredibly heart touching tale that not only brings a tear to the eye but gets the heart to throbbing in excitement, well done!

So good

Excellent story of dragons of old and the dragons now present. The Star choosing the five dragons and their kind who will save all of the dragons from extinction. Truly amazing seeing their gifts unfold. I particularly loved this fun loving magical team.

Lovely and entertaining series!

This series reminds me of the author that wrote A Modern Witch long ago. Welcome back! The story and characters are lighthearted and entertaining. They have both humor and lessons to love by written in such a way you don't realize it till you are almost done with the book. I am looking forward to the 4th book and many more!

Love reading about the Dragon star marked.

I just finished reading this episode of the Dragon Marked and enjoyed it as I have the first two. Although I hate waiting for the next book, I will try to be patient. The story line of all the books have kept me glued to my kindle until I finish. Audrey has a way with words and how her books are "in steps" meaning you start with the bond and each step along the way brings the characters strengths forward. .

Disappointed 😞

I am so sad about giving this rating since I've been a huge fan of Audreys' writing for many years. I enjoyed the first two of the series, but was only able to get through a quarter of this one. It's just off... and I'm not getting it. Will try to pick it back up later, but for now... Sad.

GIVE KELLEN HER DRAGON

ö So Alona finds a dragon and tries to give it to kellen (no more is said) the next book is about fedellen who do you think is the luky one who gets this loyle dragon i'll say my gues at the end of the review | my guess is diwn there v ·_·sorry ·-· kellen who else fedelen wants to be her kin

Mitakuye Oyasin native American language

Anyone who thinks themselves perfectly completed. or who can not see what should/could be in the process of change. A wonderful series for anyone.

Same sex attraction in dragons, huh?

Can’t seem to get pass the male dragon Trift being introduced as one who wants to moon over cute boys just like Alonia the elf girl does... and it go’s on from there. Why did the author find this necessary to include in this her third book in her dragon series? It added nothing to the story line and in fact fact took away my enjoyment of it and I wondering what I might find in her next two.

Continuing a Dragon Saga,

Excited to learn more in this Saga, unexpected bond between the two classes, Dragon and Elf. Even difference can bring about an adjustment to their differences. So they can Live in harmony and make a better world for both.

Good read

This is the third book in the quintet, and once again I was surprised with the plot twist, pleasantly so. Can’t wait to start book 4!

Another excellent book

This was an interesting book. While it included the characters from the other stories it held its own with the characters in their story. So far this series has been really fun to read.

A 5 in enjoyment

This is an adorable tale that Ms Faye is crafting. I am grateful that it is on Kindle Unlimited so I can continue to follow the kin ties between the dragons and the elves. There is so much heart in her stories.

Good Read!

Love the characters, its easy to get caught up in the story. Totally recommend it! Warmth. humor and fun also excitement.

Fantastic fantasy

Love the characters, their dialogues and the incredible world building. Top notch fantasy with characters you really care about. I love this author!

Love this Series. Can't wait for more!!

I have always loved Audrey Faye's style of writing. This series that she is writing with her daughter is very interesting and I love the surprises that they weave into the stories. Really good reads. I would highly recommend adding this to your reading list.

Amazing!

I very much enjoyed this book and it’s characters, as always. The dragons come alive on the page. My late mother would have loved Quira. Purple was her favorite color.

Great author love her work.

Excellent story well written good strong characters dragons well portrayed. Great read.

okay reading

Okay reading, not as entertaining as the previous books, slow at times and some conversations were hard to follow and distinguish who was talking. The quotation markings are not as effective as italics. Hopefully the next book will be like the first two...more faster paced.

Great book with lots of fun

The whole series was great. This partcular book emphasizes the power of joy. It was very well done.

It may be a little difficult to follow at first ...

It may be a little difficult to follow at first because of all the characters but eventually it all comes together. Well written.

humor, action, gay dragons, something for everyone

These books always bring a happy smile and a laugh.

Fun read for the most part

I did not.much care for a jive talking dragon & some of his habits that added nothing to the fun of the story, or it would have rated 5 srars.

Lucky find.

I just happened to read a teaser for the first book in this series, and I am so glad I did. I is great to find an author who doesn’t rely on gratuitous sex to keep you interested.

Good Series

The dragons and there kin.

Wonderful!

Yet another great book! I loved how Alonia and Trift stayed true to their silly selves, yet learned so much along the way. I can’t wait for the next one!

Who's crying? Not me.

I love this series and I can't wait for the next book! The storytelling is excellent. Audrey and Shae have you cheering on and really invested in the characters. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent

Kept me up all night . I am been captivated since the first book and have been waiting on tenter hooks for each additional one

Dragon Kin Series

Just finished reading the fourth installment in the series and cant wait for book five! Very well written with great characterization! Probably the best Dragon series that I have read.

loved the whole series

If you like dragons and fey you will love these books.

Great story

I love dragon stories and this series was pretty good and without the profanity in so many books. My only criticism is that Trift kept switching from male to female and back again

Made me laugh.

Wonderful humor, engaging and fun. The continuation of an ongoing mystery. The meeting of dragon and kin is very appealing. I am looking forward to the next installment.

Awesome!!!

I'm in love with Audrey Gary's books!! They make me laugh out sometimes cry with joy. Yes, they are that good. Try it you'll like it

Wonderful!

This book is a wonderful addition to the Dragon Kin series and to Audrey Faye’s books! As always, beautiful character development and warmth.

Teamwork

My daughter (12) and I are both enjoying this series. Love that it is written by mother and daughter.

Five Stars

Awesome! Fast Paced, didn't want to put the book down. Can't wait for the next book.

Dragons rule!

I've enjoyed every one of these novels.

Light & cheerful

The best book she has written. It is a feel good with sprinkling of wisdom. Truly delightful. I want more.

Dragon kin

Fun read

Fun read.

Wonderful series

Wonderful series Each one of these books I like the way they focused on one pair the characters in each book so you really got to know. And come together beautifully in the end. I would recommend the series

A silly elf and dragon learn their strength

Alonia and Trift are like two peas in a pod. They’d rather dance, sing and wander in the forest than do proper elvish or dragonish things. However, it turns out the two of them together have the rare gift of magic which they don’t want use to become warriors. They’ll have to learn to be their own kind of heroes.
