Great Second Book

This is book two of the Inheritance series. The story revolves around the death of the mother of three girls, who were separated at a very young age when their step-father also died. The first book, The Accused, tells the story of the first daughter Alaina, coming to the small town of Calais Louisiana. To meet the conditions of their mother's will and inherit her estate, each girl must spend two uninterrupted weeks living on the property. All in one year after the death of the step-father. The problem is, the three girls were very young when they were removed from the house, and have no idea where the others ended up. The second daughter Danae LeBeau, has found herself drawn to the small town of Calais. She has been living and working there for the last six months. Under and assumed name. She has been afraid to come forward. But after what happened to her sister during her two week stay at the estate, she's decided it's time to come forward, meet her sister and claim her inheritance. Zach Sargent has come to Calais on his own information seeking mission. He has signed on as a contractor to help restore the old LeBeau mansion. But he needs answers. Answers he hopes are hidden inside the old house. Answers to questions he has about his father's death bed confession. With the conclusion of this second book, some of the questions are answered, but we still have to find the third sister. This was a quick read, lots of suspense, and a bit of romance thrown in as well. I liked it. I think the books can be read as stand alone novels, but they make more sense if read in order. You get a much more complete story.

So good

I loved the first book but this one topped even it. You played out several suspects and one has to get to the very end to find out who, what and why. But I was not expecting the end. I read all day to finish this and it is your fault I got no work done and I am so glad. I love the paranormal part. Please continue a bit of that as it added the emotional part. Love this. I have already bought the next one and it's going to storm tomorrow so great reading time. You can bet I will follow your career. Just keep writing.... A fan now,

Enjoyed it

I love the Miss Fortune series and I didn't feel this had the same quality. I did enjoy the story, but had no trouble putting it down for a day or two at a time. When I really enjoy a book, I only put it down to do things like cook dinner. I read it as a stand alone. Do not intend to read the first book and am not sure I will order the third book.

Trilogy you just HAVE to read!!

I was looking forward to these by Jana DeLeon. Since I like trilogies, I was curious if it would "same old-same old" BUT it wasn't. It kept you on your toes and was pretty hard to figure out the end (which I'm usually pretty good at figuring out). I'm on the last book of this series and its even better than the first ones. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the sex scenes. Like, come on, you've been thru one, you've been thru all. I'm not a prude, just kinda bored with that part. But have to say the mysteries are really really good! LOVE the characters!! Even the descriptions of the swamps are correct. ANYONE who lives near Louisiana swamps KNOWS she is correct in her description of the silence and loudness if them; like they can actually speak to you if you listen real well. And you WILL hear things! Wonderful job.

Another good read by Jana DeLeon

I have enjoyed this series! Three sisters who were separated at an early age when their mother died are found and brought back together when their evil step father passes away. This is the story of Joelle, the middle sister. She is a social worker who helps abused women. A disgruntled husband of one of the women follows her to her family home trying to find out where his wife is. Is he the mystery man who has been stalking her or is there someone from her past? This is a good story that has an unexpected twist at the end. There is also a love story between Joelle and the handyman, William. Mystery and romance- what could be better! Love Jana DeLeon's books. I also recommend her Mystery in Mudbug series and her Miss Fortune Mystery series!

Book is full of suspense.

Book is hard to put down once you have started reading it. Jana Deleon is one of the best authors around.

Great 👍Read

This story was just as good as the first one.Mystery, suspense and thrills, along with a whole lot of action.I'm ready to start reading the last book in this series.

The Betrayed by Jana DeLeon

I love the intriguing mystery and suspense interspersed with the relationship between the characters. Each of them share a common thread within the components of the story, yet they bring their individual thought provoking scenarios into play as they come together to find out the truth they may not want to know. The strong attraction between the two main characters always make a wonderful romantic connection. I highly recommend this book.

MIDDLE!!!

Like many trilogies, the middle book was not as suspenseful as the first one. It was a good story, but not up to her usual standards.

Loved it as I do all of Jana's books

Love Jana's books. They are all great reads. You can't go wrong with any of her series. You won't be able to out it down.

I like all of Jana DeLeon's books especially the Miss Fortune ...

I like all of Jana DeLeon's books especially the Miss Fortune series that are written by the author herself. However, this series is a bit redundant. The setting is the same. The interactions between the main characters are the same. I am now on my fourth of the series and I am bored with the plot.

Good Trilogy

Engaging characters, decent mystery, and sex. Pretty good.

The story keeps getting better.

I really thought this second book in the series could not possibly be better than the first, The Accused, but I was mistaken. Some of the unresolved mysteries from the first book were certainly explained. This series has a great combination of mystery, romance, and fans of the paranormal will not be disappointed. Anxiously waiting for the conclusion to the series!

Four Stars

good

Very good continuation

It's sad the childhood Danae had to live through. Her teenage years aren't detailed at all but you can only imagine. Zach is really good to her. I never suspected who the really person was behind everything that had been happening in the house. There are still some unanswered questions.

I love her books.

I love her books.
