This book has crime, a great mystery, a touch of romance, great friendships, and a multitude of tricky plans to divert and misdirect the crooks and sometimes the police and ultimately solve the crimes. Love this series, great storyline in book 8. Lovable characters, enjoyed the twist and turns. I also purchased the Audible book and listened awhile I read and listened while I drove. I highly recommend this book and series, excellent audio narration.

How did Fortune find a guy on Facebook within a couple of hours without a name? Where does she get her seemingly never ending supply of beer and wine in a dry county, with no liquor being sold in Sinful except the cough medicine? How does a little old lady haul around pounds worth of firearms and such, and how come no person in law enforcement EVER suspects her heavy bag, slumped shoulder, etc.? How exactly does one hide a gun in a bra without obvious lumps and bumps around the boobs? And the headdress of a nun is a wimple. The robe/dress is the habit. I love these books but such glaring things like these drive me nuts.

In this book the older single women are being targeted by a catfisher. One of the women ask them to find the man responsible. Right after they decide to look into it a woman was killed. I was surprised by the ending of this book and can't wait to see what shenanigans the three women will get into next.

This series of books about Fortune Reading, CIA Agent hiding from an International Killer, MUST be read in order! And after the last book (Hurricane Force) I was anxious to find out if Carter and Fortune can patch things up or if they go their separate ways. (I eventually got an answer, but it took awhile!) Once again Fortune, Gertie, and Ida Belle try to take on the problems of Sinful, LA and solve them before Carter has a chance. All bets are off now since Carter knows who the three women really are-or aren't! Despite their abilities, he asks them to stay out of the current murder and computer catfishing scheme. Of course telling those three to stay out of something just insures their involvement at the maximum level. I am thankful Gertie and Ida Belle must have always had high calcium intakes, because as many times as they fall, amazingly few bones are ever broken. I'm also glad Gertie is a good cook, otherwise I seriously wonder if Ida Belle and Fortune would have serious vitamin deficiencies! One thing for sure about the series and this newest book, you will find plenty to laugh about. Jana DeLeon has done it again, and she can't write fast enough to suit me. Love her books and her writing style! Treat yourself to this book-or series-and settle in to enjoy how even bad situations with surprising resolutions can be fun!

What a twist and mystery to a murder of an innocent lady. Greed and meanness never gets you anywhere. Enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next chapter.

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are looking into a scam that is bilking lonely old women out of their money. Since this person seems to know exactly who to target in Sinful, Fortune is convinced this con artist is someone local. When a well-respected member of the community is killed, Fortune and the gang are certain there is a connection between the murder and the scam, and they set out to prove it. Fortune Hunter by Jana DeLeon is a terrific addition to an extremely entertaining series. This is the eighth book in the Miss Fortune Mystery series. Since Carter now knows who she really is, Fortune is able to do what needs to be done without making the usual excuses to him. Fortune finds herself doing a great deal of soul-searching in this book. She doesn’t know what the future holds for her, but she knows she has changed since moving to Sinful. As always, there are laughs to be had (Gertie is such a character!), but there are also some truly touching scenes. I loved the conversation she had with Walter, and when she and Carter were talking, I was holding my breath. This is one of my favorite series. Ms. DeLeon has created a wonderfully endearing cast of characters. I can’t wait for the next book. I hope summer in Sinful never ends. Happy reading!

Loved it as always! People out there, yahoo gotta read these books! They are entertaining, comical characters, comical situations, and even dramatic. What else could you want? Well, there is some romance involved too. I don't know if just the author reads this, but hopefully perspective readers read this!

I have read all of the books in this series and love them. Generally in my home I read them to make sure their is not any graphic sex scenes in the books and if I like them then we try them as a family on our trips. We do a lot of driving on a daily basis. I have to say that my family loves them to. We are a home of 2 adults and 3 teenagers and the problem I am having is that I have to keep what I know from this book a secret until we catch up. I am glad to know that there will be at least one more book in the series. I think this book did a great job of tying together the previous books. I love the characters which are well developed of the last 8 books. This is a book where when your reading you will laugh out loud. This happened to me a lot and my kids would ask me what but I won't tell them because they are only on book 6. I love this author and this series. All of the opinions above are based on my reading of this book and nothing else.

After finding the Mudbug series, and reading them all... I was in love with Ms. DeLeon. So of course I looked for her other books. Reading the Sinful series.. well, you will not be disappointed. This is the eighth book in the series and they keep getting better. Fortune is a well crafted character, along with her sidekicks and love interest. This is a series that I keep going back to because it has it all. Action. Mystery. Love. Friendship. Self discovery. And, in my opinion, the best of all, growth. Many books will have a few good characters but they are so single faceted. The books may have a rhythm but no growth. DeLeon is a wonderful author with fresh ideas, even eight books in. My only complaint, even with two books a year, is that they don't come fast enough for me. This book starts with heartbreak ( read 1-7), soaks up friendship, finds a mystery, then another, some action... catfishing and murder.. what a combo! It really shouldn't work, but DeLeon does it with grace and really really good writing. Read the series, you won't be disappointed!! Can't wait for the next one!!!

You know when I read reviews where the person says oh I just love this writer, I tend to not listen and read other reviews but with this author I can honestly say I love her. Reading this series is always hard for me because I'm eating the book up and looking down at my kindle where it shows the percentage of the book I have read. I race along wanting to know what happen and hating that it is going to end. Also, I know most people use The Stephanie Plum novels as the first reference for humorous mysteries but I laugh more reading these books than any other I have ever read. It truly is a rare gift. Ann George had it and I think Lauren Carr has it but I wish more did because nothing brightens the day more than a good book that makes you laugh. I've read so many that think what they are writing is funny but really the author is trying too hard but Jana Deleon hits just the right things that are hilarious. Bring on the next one I will be waiting.

Another great Fortune read. I can’t wait to see what else the girls and Depute Carter will get them selves into in the next episode.

Every time I read a book by Jana, I say it was better than the last. Well the thing is, it is! The characters are familiar, you sort of know what they are going to do, but still you are surprised. You think, I have the bad guy figured out, well logically if you are a mystery reader, thus is what you do. A good author lets you get a taste of superiority and then she reverses direction on you by adding in another character or two. As you approach the end you are surprised as you are right but you are so wrong too. All the parts of the puzzle are there but they fit differently. Excellent book, love ALL the characters. One will always be close to my heart. I love the softer side of Fortune. And Gertie and Ida Bell, well they are my hero's. The only bad thing is, I finished the book and now I wait for the next book. I won't be greedy, I won't beg I will be patient.

Not as raucously funny as some of the earlier books in this series but still a good solid mystery. I figured out the main mystery but totally blew some of the details. Good red herrings. The more I read these characters, the more I love them. The town of Sinful draws me in every time and I know I am in for a good time with quirky characters and heart. I can't wait to read the next book.

In the last Miss Fortune mystery, I was somewhat disappointed with the breakup of Fortune and Carter... BUT I am really happy with this new book. Without giving anything away, I must say I was hesitant and skeptical going in to this story. Now, I am very glad I read it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book, if you are a Miss Fortune Fan! I really miss some of the laugh-out-loud humor of the first four books, but this story was a lot more about Fortune's misery and life introspection which was much needed for her character to continue in future books. She had to resolve something incredibly important to her life in Sinful before we could see what will happen when summer is over in Sinful. Now I really look forward to the next book in the series, even if it isn't as funny as the first books. But, maybe, with less angst and tension between Carter and Fortune, the stories will have more fun and laughs.

I always enjoy how Fortune, Gertie and Ida Belle get into and out of trouble as the “help” Carter solve the latest mystery in Sinful. As always the people of Sinful make things interesting and make it a challenge to figure out the mystery. Love the intersection between Gertie, Ida and Fortune and between Fortune and Carter.

Fortune Hunter continues to provide reading pleasure with healthy doses of humor, unexpected emotional upheavals, sleuthing mysteries, and a sense of romance! This author really knows how to make the characters real to the reader. I already consider Fortune, Ida Belle, Bertie, Carter, and Walter to be good friends! Very well done!

I have become thoroughly involved in Fortune's story. I wish I had a Gertie and Ida Belle in my life. I love this series and I can't wait to start the next book to follow Fortune and Carter's story. I love the sense of adventure that Ida Belle and Gertie bring to the story. I laugh out loud and wish that I had some of the Sinful Ladies Cough Syrup while reading this book.

Fortune, Ide Belle and Gertie are in the thick of things again but with Carter finally in the know it creates some bumps and hurdles for Fortune. As she contemplates her future Swamp Team 3 once again solve the mystery and Carter? Read the book !

Anyone tired of covid, elections, no good tv read any of Jane DeLeon's books. This is not my favorite so only 4 🌟stars. Swamp Team 3 gets into believable unbelievable difficulties. I can always get laugh at loud sides sore laughs.

Before anyone jumps on me for four stars let me explain. This book deserves five stars if you are not already invested in the series. Seriously anything Jana Deleon writes is gold, however we didn't see nearly much action or comedy. And what is a Miss Fortune book without a comedic outbreak with Gertie? She was present and did her thing but not nearly as extreme as usual. I get it Fortune is going through a lot and it set the tone of the book, however I miss the craziness that goes on in Sinful. I am still heartbroken over Carter! None the less this is a series that should remain at the very top of your to be read list. My favorite series of all time and there isn't a book I haven't read by Jana Deleon. I have loved every single one of them!

Fortune & the Girls, Gertie & Ida Belle, are back! Fortune is trying to get her head on straight after her break up with Carter when The Girls get her involved with a catfish scam happening in Sinful. The action kicks up quite quickly between the scam & a murder while the threesome investigate. These oddball characters keep getting themselves into dangerous, but uproariously funny situations. There are lots of twists & turns, & a few red herrings that make the story very interesting, plus a great conclusion! While I enjoy the other Kindle World Novellas written by other authors about Fortune & the Girls, no one writes a Miss Fortune novel quite like Jana DeLeon! The only thing missing from this book - not enough Cecelia! I truly get a huge kick out of those interactions with the Queen Bitch. Phenomenal book book, not to be missed!

Again, a winner for the writing and story. However, with volume 6, 7, & 8 pages started falling out (and I'm not rough on my books!) Also, printing quality varied greatly between pages...some very faint while across the page normal. Publishing company gets a hit for poor quality control!

I think this series is an addiction for me. This story just flew by for me and I couldn't believe how quickly I finished it. Things are still at a stand-still between Carter and Fortune. Sigh, I am still hopeful that something can come from that. I will say that I did not figure out who the culprit of this installment was before the reveal. Which is very unusual and quite enjoyable. There is still the threat of Ahmad but this book was more about another resident of Sinful. A great installment and I am looking forward to seeing what else can possible take place in this small town.

Once again the girls manage to land in the middle of another murder mystery. If you haven't read the A Miss Fortune series, you need to get started right away. This series is one of the best out there. In this 8th book, I have to admit to being thrown for a loop throughout the story, thinking I knew the killer, then changing my mind and thinking another angle...and in the end....I was surprised and enjoyed the fact that Jana Deleon is capable of keeping the reader on the edge of their seat with such a well written and downright enjoyable mystery. I love Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie....they are my heroes!!! I so happily recommend this book to those who love humor with their suspense, quirky characters and down home Southern folks. Great book!!!

I love this series so much the ladies are hilarious

When bad people hurt the innocent it's just so sad. This was a good story but more "sad" to it. When this kind of thing happens there's only one thing to do. Take down the bad guy. You can bet Fortune and the team get right to work on it.

This book in the series was well worth waiting for. The Laugh out loud antics of the Sinful 3 do not disappoint! The twists and turns in the story-line are fun and great to try to get through. Good use of the Red-herring in this one! Happy that Fortune go to show her true feelings and the surprises she receives from her "handler" gets her thinking about her own life. Glad she and Carter could have it out in a normal way instead of stubbornly butting heads again and again! Now, I can't wait for the next installment in the series. What more trouble and fun can we get from the Sinful 3! What is in store for Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie? Can't wait to find out!

This is a great series of books. So far there are 14 of them. I have enjoyed all of them. Once in a while they are really predictable, but the characters are great and a fun read. The only thing I really don't like is the cost. 250-260 pages for $4to5 is a little much to stomach. I think the author could have put two books together for the cost.

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are determined to find out who is catfishing the lonely ladies of Sinful even if it does mean helping out Celia, possibly the meanest spirited woman alive. Carter has warned them off of his investigation but that doesn't mean much to the Swamp Team 3. Gertie, Ida Belle, and Fortune find themselves in some funny situations and they are still wreaking havoc on toilets in Sinful. Fortune finds herself reevaluating her life choices after finding out that her partner plans to take on a desk job and get married after they get Ahmad. These storylines keep getting better. I like to see how the characters evolve. I think that this series is best read in order.

I keep thinking with each book I read that it will be my last but honestly, the stories about Fortune, Ida Belle & Gertie have become so addictive to the point that I can’t wait to read what happens next to this trio in Sinful. That being said...on to Book number nine......

I read book 2 through the whole 10 book series in a month this summer. I had read the first one a couple years back. I couldn't put them down. I don't usually get hooked on books but this one had me riveted. I don't know if it's the old ladies, veterans like me, always involved in shenanigans with their girlfriends, or the small town, similar to my small town or the CIA agent in hiding but I had a great time reading them and filling up my spare time....much to my husbands annoyance. I highly recommend the whole series if you are ready to check out for a while.

Fortune Redding is CIA assassin who is relocated in Sinful, LA under an alias for her own protection as there is a contract out on her. Fortune has made friends with Ida Belle and Gertie two veterans of Vietnam who the town thinks were nurses, but were actually intelligence agents. Trouble seems to find these three where ever they turn. Someone is catfishing the towns single women, there's a murder, and at least one of the men in town is acting way out of character; will the girls figure out what is going on? Will Fortune go back to DC? Will Deputy Carter end up arresting Fortune, Ida Belle or Gertie? You will have to read Fortune Hunter to find out!

I have read ever single book in this series in the past three weeks. I am so sad that I have reached the end for now. I cannot wait until another book is released and I HOPE there is another, or many more. I love the way they are written, I love the characters and I love the flow of these books. Best reads I have found in a long time!! Kudos to the author!!

Not as amazing as the others, felt a bit rushed. Left feeling a bit flat but not sure why. Waited for this book for ages and then found it quite expensive but it wasn't her usual gripping tale. Some of the details about the cat-phishing part were debatable and the tech details didn't sit right. If you copy and paste a photo onto the desktop of a laptop you've broken into, and then don't delete it, someone will know you've been on it. Stuff like that was just wrong. I've given it a 4 because I still love the characters and setting.

Oh my gosh...Jana DeLeon has done it again! I just could NOT put down this book!!!! Gertie and Ida Belle are at it again with Fortune leading the way. Carter's relationship with Fortune takes so many twists and turn with the outcome as intriguing as the murder in Sinful!!! I can't wait for the next installment of this series!!! Jana DeLeon is a wonderfully gifted writer and mesmerizing storyteller whose characters seem so real and come to life on every page. Her sense of humor is perfectly inserted at the most opportune moments that will have your pulse racing while you're laughing out loud!!! If you haven't read this series, don't wait another moment to start!!!

It was interesting because you didn’t know who it was immediately. It took almost the entire book for me to understand who it was. Plus I love the humor in the characters of this series in writer.

If you read/listen to the first book you will be hooked. Every new book that comes out I get as soon as it is available and don't stop until I finish it. Then as soon as the audio version comes out I get it and have to listen to the whole series again. You laugh until you cry, you shake your head wondering how they do it and you want to live in Sinful Louisiana with "The Girls" just see what is going to happen next. Great writing Jana DeLeon!!!

For those following this series, the intrigue and comedy continues. Even though, the mystery was not as complicated as previous ones, it still had a few twists here and there. Fortune, Ida, and Gertie are always right in the middle of a mystery, and no matter who gets in their way, they won't stop until the case is solved. I can't wait to read the next book. When will Fortune get closer to solving her own case of that dangerous man that's always chasing her?...

Some authors have a way with a story. This author takes you on a joyous journey into the lives of three remarkable women. Always a twist or turn that you are not expecting. Can't wait for the next installments

Reading this several years after it’s been published I can’t imagine the excitement of catfishing was back then. Still, this book was excellent and I went on a ride to figure out the catfish too. Great book! On to the next

I love these books! I was on my 2nd read of the first 7 books while I was waiting for the 8th book to come out. I laughed just as hard the 2nd time around as I did the first reading. I'm even buying them in print because I want my mom to read them. She doesn't like all the sex that is in most novels so I gave to buy her religious novels. It's so nice to read a mystery series that's current, funny, and not vulgar. Thank Jana for so many fabulous reads!!! Love the eighth book too! Can't wait for the ninth, I'm so excited :-)

There is just not enough adjectives to describe how awesome this series is! It is hilarious and suspenseful! The characters are never boring and you just wished you knew the characters in real life! I have re-read each of the books in this series several times. When I need to laugh or just need a 'pick me up', this is the series I start to read. I am always ready for the next book and look forward to seeing what the ladies will be up to next. The author has kept each book and character fresh! Everyone needs to read them!

I love all the laugh out loud books in this series. The characters are over the top. They are like southern relatives of Stephanie Plum.

Another great story in the series. I've been getting them from the library and couldn't wait for them to get the last one so I bought it. No regrets. Just wish I didn't have to wait so long for the next one. Aside from the town being seriously cursed, the books are entertaining and fast reads. A couple things I saw coming, a couple I definitely didn't. The characters are funny, well rounded, and grow through the books. Would recommend giving the series a try!

I almost never laugh out loud reading a book, but I found myself doing so many times with this book. The characters are so real and entertaining... and they remind me of real people I know in my extended Southern family. Keep them coming!

I just love Jana Deleon's books. They're funny, sexy, sweet, smart, and highly entertaining. Fortune Redding is a brilliant character creation, and Sinful, Louisiana is a fun place. Well, if you like meddling neighbors and murder mysteries, of course. This is a continuation in a series, the Miss Fortune Mystery series. It's a great entry, and I enjoyed it immensely. Deleon writes engrossing mysteries with lots of LOL humor, suspense, and surprises, but keeps it light and a quick read. These books are just good! Read Deleon's entire Miss Fortune series. Totally worth it, and completely enjoyable.

It is not as laugh out loud funny as the first 7 books but the author still wraps most things up logically. She never really explained what Nolan was doing upstairs which gave away who the bad guy really was. The continued relationship between characters is heart warming. Hopefully the slower pace isn't an indication that the author hasn't figured out where her character is taking her. I really loved the first seven books and I still really like Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie.

I've read 8 Fortune books in the series and I'm headed for number 9. Enjoyed each one and love the characters.

This series of books gives one the opportunity to embarass themselves by laughing out loud while reading them. I have started laughing in my office, my doctors office and while eating lunch. The antics that swamp team 3 get themselves into and out of are so enjoyable. You really find yourself invested in these characters from Sinful and I eagerly await each new book in the series. In fact, I enjoy them so much that I went back and read all 7 again before I read number 8. I cant wait to see what the next chapter in their lives brings.

I adore all of the Fortune Redding books by Jana DeLeon and of course her partners in crime Ida Belle and Gertie. Always make me laugh out loud. Deputy Carter, Allie, Francine, Big, Little, Manny, Celia and the rest of the town characters interesting and engaging glad they keep showing up. A fun ride for sure from book 1 until now ... can't wait to read the others.

Love all the books in this series. I especially like the plot twists. The girls relationship make me laugh. My only criticism is the use of the word Frey. It was a little annoying the amount of times it's used when other words could have been used instead. Not enough to make me stop reading.

I love this series and am sad that it is going to end with book 9. I think I am going to be just like Gertie when I get older. Maybe not carrying an arsenal in my purse, but sure will have everything underneath the sun in my bag. I love the messes that these ladies get themselves into. This series would make a great t.v. show.

I love these books, they are the best! If you want a light read and a real belly laugh, read anything by Jana Deleon. Living in the south has always been a treat for those of us who have experienced it, but Jana puts it in a whole new light. Whenever I need a break from everyday living (and family drama) I take up one of her books and lose myself in the moment. Jana has a similar style to Janet Evanavich and the same whacky humor infuses her books. Delightful!

This is a great addition to the series. Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie are an wonderful crime fighting team. Awesomeness.

Good mystery, good humour, good summer read.

Loved the Jana Deleon Miss Fortune Mysteries. Never have laughed so hard in my life. Gertie is a HOOT. Ida Mae and the rest of the Sinful Ladies are real Southern Belles. They are Strong and don't follow all the rules but keep the men in town on edge. Deputy LeBlanc and Fortune make a perfect couple--he's by the book and she gets by on the edge. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

This was my second favorite book from the series. Fortune was on her own some of the time and solving the mystery. After Gertie fell off the deck, the second floor deck, she was out of the way for some of the story and not throwing a wrench into solving the catfish mystery and murder. Stupid and un-necessary storyline is Mayor Celia, I cannot see her falling for the catfish scam.

I am addicted now on to the next book ,and the next as long as they lasti love them all

I probably shouldn't binge these books, but they are too good and luckily I hadn't read many of them yet, so I have several to go. A small town story filled with crazy old ladies, good friends, light mystery, and a slight dash of romance. Really well done.

Escape from reality for awhile. Read this series if u enjoy a mystery without blood and guts but with plenty of laughs. Along the way u may just learn about true friendship and how people can change whilst changing others lives as well... All for the better I might add. Every time I finish one of these books I start counting down til the next one is released.... I don't even want to think about the fact that one of them will eventually be the final chapter in this brilliant series ... Keep writing Jana!!!

Still loving this series. I think Fortune is making some good decisions. This time she helps the ladies find the guy catfishing others in the town and taking their money. The murder of one of the nicest ladies in town is a shocker and this sets them on the course to find the killer. Fortune's relationship has taken a big hit so some of her sadness and then growth comes from this too. Love the characters and laughs. Falling off decks and climbing trees again is just a part of the chuckles. Keep them coming.

There is nothing that I don’t like about this book. It is hilarious and mysterious as well. You will not be disappointed.

I absolutely love this series! It's madcap fun that will have you laughing out loud nonstop. No, these are probably not your relatable neighbor ladies, but they're definitely who we'd like to be someday - no nonsense, self-reliant, kick-ass women capable of solving situations without thinking twice. There's more than a little suspension of belief involved with some of those situations, as well as a lot,of,the solutions and consequences, but that's the real fun. So leave your "that couldn't really happen" attitude at the door, hop on, buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Another great book in the series!!! Love these books!!! I am always waiting for the next one. This one was more insightful then the last about Fortunes future. I am not looking forward to the end of this series :(. Hopefully the summer will continue for a long while. This was another funny book with Ida Bell and Gerty. I was very glad Jana gave Fortune a strong voice with Carter this time high five on that. Fortune is tough and it's nice to see her get to be herself more. I can't wait for the next one!

I love books based in Louisiana, my home. Also, I stay on the edge of my seat with anticipation, laughter, worry, and undivided interest. I rarely buy books. Usually I just read the free ones. This is one series and Author that I will purchase without hesitation. I truly enjoy this series and believe others will too. I suggest it to everyone I know. If you have never read any of Jana DeLeon Miss Fortune series, start with the first one and you will be hooked. None of the series has let me down. They are consistently well written and I cannot get enough. This series, I hope, goes on forever. It is that good. They are funny, they are human, they are wonderful. As soon as I am finished with the latest book, I am ready for the next one. By the way when will the next one be ready, I'm ready to pre order.

Can't say enough good things about this new series. Lots of mystery twist turns and laughs. Yes some Romance but not all the overwhelming sex that is in so many new books. This Series has just the right amount of everything. In every book there is some part that I literally died laughing at because it is so hilarious and I can see me and my friends doing the same thing. You won't go wrong reading this series

I have read the entire set of books in the Mudbug series I really enjoyed them. so decided to try the Fortune series . I got hooked right away. there's a lot of action going on the building of friendships end it lets the character show intelligence instead of making them goofballs . thank you very much for creating the series end possibly putting Carter and fortune back together keep writing. You do a very good job of combining suspend , humor , and giving the characters depth.. thank you

I have been miserable without the Miss Fortune books and Fortune Hunter could not have come at a better time..yes it could have..it could have come months ago! I have been bereft with out your humor...you truly make me believe in these ancient old ladies that is fully capable of instigating and fighting a war in their tiny little town and having it cleaned up in time to take Brunch with their Sunday School Sisters while delivering their 'cough syrup' orders. Fortune is a hoot too! Please do not leave me again.

This story kept my interest more than some of the others and I absolutely adored all the others. The Fortune Mystery series is one of the best out there.

Thought this was not as good or funny as the previous books but they were outstanding. I did love how this ended. Cannot wait to read the next book in Miss Fortune.

Loved it! Fortune is depressed re breakup, but it helps when Carter reveals a past experience. Meanwhile, Swamp Team 3 investigates social media scam & murder. Along the way, their escapades are hilarious. What's next ladies?

The characters are so enjoyable, the adventures and comedy to each one makes these book a quick easy read.

Fortune is trying to get over her break-up with Carter and figure out her life. Someone is catfishing the women in Sinful and when one of the women is killed. The Swam Team, Gertie; Ida Belle; and Fortune; are on the case despite Carter's objections. The Swam Team is hunting for a killer, helping the wheelchair-bound husband of the victim, and looking into the wayward activities of a friend’s husband. The characters are awesome and the plot is great in this series are unique.

I love this series and it just keeps getting better. It makes you want to find out what the 3 of them will get into next. I can't wait to find out!

The idea of a con artist is not far-fetched since it happens in real life everyday but the treatment of this story line with these particular characters is so interesting and entertaining. Sharing humor infused with heartache and pain for so many people, takes a genuine understanding of the human spirit and a wisdom of the evil perpetrated by certain individuals. The story was remarkable; the author was spot on. I recommend this book to everyone.

Outstanding story! Can hardly wait for her books to come out in Fortune and MudBug series! Jana Deleon is my favorite author of cozy mysteries. Her writing and descriptive abilities place you right in the scene - you can see and feel her story - you're there! If you haven't read any of the books from these two series - get them and read from the beginning. You will laugh yourself silly! All of her characters are delightful in their own right!

Laugh out loud funny cozy. I've read the whole series but only a book or two at a time then I need more serious mysteries.

While this latest edition in the series still held the laughs I've come to expect and love out of a Miss Fortune book, there was much more of an emotional side to this book with several characters. A catfishing scam is targeting the women of Sinful, and I love trying to solve a Jana mystery right alongside of ST3!! A few surprises in the end has me happily thinking about what's in store for all of the characters I have come to love in Sinful!!

One of my favorite things about this series is that every book shows progression. Characters are continuing to evolve, making the series not stagnate. The primary character (Fortune) is very flawed, but in a realistic way, especially when considering her past being so extraordinary. The secondary characters (Ida Belle, Gertie, and Carter) are almost just as important as Fortune. They help build the story and add an emotional piece. They are also what connects Fortune to the city and its strange inhabitants.

I'm so sad that I have read all of the Miss Fortune books! I did read one by that Mark Lenfield, but its not the same. I started reading a second one by him, and I just can't get into it. I have put it down and started reading something else. :( I want Jana to write all of the Miss Fortune books/series and to continue. I love those books!

Although it is improbable that these characters would get into SO many sketchy situations, the author manages to pull it off with a diverse and hilarious "gang" of ladies, the men who admire and are driven crazy by their antics, and the tough guys left in their wake. I like that the heroines have grown, and expanded, and shown that friendship has no age limits. A fun read. Ready for the ninth adventure for these feisty, flawed, funny, and endearing "girls".

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are on the case, so Catfishers (and not the kind using a fishing line) beware! When those three are involved, one never knows what will happen. Although there are plenty of hijinks, this book takes a more serious tone as Fortune confronts her future. Will she remain with the CIA or plant roots in Sinful? There is much to ponder as the usual murder and mayhem ensue. A nice change of pace, and I love seeing the characters grow.

Celia is still running amuck, but Ellie, Gertie and Fortune are making sure nothing bad happens to the town. Especially when a few people have been "Catfished!" Now Fortune and the hunky deputy is another story-things seem to be going down the tubes, but I'm always hoping for a happy ending! Dana Pratt

I have loved all the Miss Fortune books and can't wait to read the next installment. They are light hearted and good fun to read. The plot keeps moving avoiding the feeling of going around in circles padding out the book. These are not great literary reads but they aren't meant to be. They leave me feeling good and smiling.

The Miss Fortune series is my favorite of Jana Deleon's books. This one will keep you laughing for most of the adventure. Love these characters and their misadventures. You get to meet a few new neighbors in this one as well. This one dose not disappoint as you follow the girls along in their search for the "catfish" that's swindling some of the good ladies of Sinful!

This book along with all the other Miss Fortune Mystery is beyond funny. I finished one of the books in one day. I made the mistake of taking one of the books with me to a Dr.s. appointment and sat in the waiting room laughing. I didn't even mind waiting for my apt. the book kept me entertained. How two senior ladies and one young girl could get in so much trouble is laughable.

Funny and well written as usual. It has the charm of the small town with a hot hero for the main character.

This book was ok but not as good as books 1 - 6. Book 7 & 8 I don't think are quite as good as the rest. Like others have said Fortune did a lot of soul searching in this book. I am waiting for the next book but I think it is going to have to come to a conclusion.

Once I start it is hard to put one of these books. Good Mysteries mixed with a little humor. The girls make a great team.

I love Jana Nelson as an author and I have really enjoyed all of the Miss Fortune books in the series that I have read so far.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the adventures of Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie. These ladies have lots of curiosity and reaaly care about what happens to the people of their small town. They do their best to figure out who the villans are and to take care of the victims. These books are fun and entertaining. I keep trying to figure out what actress woukd play each role if these were made into a TV series or movie.

As if I had any question that this book would be just as good as the others... The depth of characters proceeds to increase, the story line is great just like th others and its funny (at certain points, but without being too much). Fortune Hunter is a fantastic installment in the unravelling of the mystery that is Sinful...and the adventure that is Fortune Redding's ever-evolving story. Is it late 2016 yet? I look forward to DeLeon's next in the series!

I love this series. All 8 books were enthralling, laugh out loud and addictive. The plot, character development and imagery were exceptional. The romance between Fortune and Carter was just enough to tease the reader but not distracting from fiasco-infused crime solving. I would definitely recommend these books for any who likes mysteries, comedy, romance without Rated R content. Perfect for teens and older for sure. I wish there were pictures of some these characters especially Gertie and Celia. Cheers!

Fortune and the girls are at it again with, laughs and mishaps a long the way. First the town is has had it's first time with stolen identity then a murder of one of the towns nicest resident. All with Carter knowing the real Fortune and not knowing how that relationship is going or ever get back together. The Fortune and the girls set out to solve the mysteries. Great store and I will wait for the next adventure.

I really enjoy the Miss Fortune series, and while this was a good book it lacked the laugh out loud humor of the other books in the series, and it was relatively short. Somehow, it doesn't read like her other books-the "voice" is different. Still a good read, but not a book I would re-read like the others in the series.

I started with Ghost in Law and went to Miss Fortune. Haven't enjoyed any books more than this series. They are funny and my life needs all the humor I can get. Even when I have other books in my listings I return to Miss Fortune and reread just for comfort. Have enjoyed all the other authors that have added to the story. My only wish is that you wrote faster. I have a hard time waiting for next release.

Good series with interesting characters. Light reading. It's the type of book you could read in a day or two. I would like to see a little more involvement between Carter and Fortune, perhaps join forces or deputize Ida bell and Gertie. That would be a hoot! I look forward to reading the next book.

Another great read from Jana Deleon. Once again Fortune and her cohorts are out to solve another mystery in their usual way, with misadventure at every turn. Interest between Fortune and Carter seems to be reviving ( I hope ), and the intrepid swamp team is in top form, again. Looking forward to the next Miss Fortune adventure.

Fortune Hunter (Book 8 in Miss Fortune series) by Jana DeLeon was even better than the last book in this series! It was more like the earlier books. Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie find out about an online scam targeting lonely women in Sinful,LA. The mystery has humor, twists and turns, and a great story line. You are missing out if you don't read this series but start with the first book! You won't want to miss anything!

If you have followed the adventures so far, you know that Fortune Reading had to make some very tough choices. Not only about the people in her past, but about the people in her present and who she wants in her future. Jana DeLeon does a great job of keeping us guessing. Can hardly wait for the next adventure.

Another case solved by our trio with some life altering realizations for Fortune and Carter. I always enjoy these stories with the humor and the small town characters. Being from a small town I can tell you Jana gets it right from the faster than light gossip to the everyone knows your business and past history and never forgets any of it! Looking forward to the next installment in adventure with these characters.

This series is a must read for anyone who enjoys 'laugh out loud' books. As many have commented the stories are not entirely realistic, but they're probably the funniest books I've ever read. Book 8 was great, sometimes this far into a series the stories start to go downhill, but that has definitely not happened. I enjoyed these books so much I have reread the entire series and laughed the whole way through again.

Fortune and Carter are getting closer!! Waiting to dive into book 9 . Onto the finale book 10 . Won't say I'll miss Ida bell , Gurtie sinful and the two love birds. I SURE WILL! Great summer read. You won't be disappointed if you indulge. I hope I'm lucky enough to get caught up with another crazy series.

I'm really enjoying this series--kind of crazy, but so well written. If you've spent any time in the south, there's a certain kind of crazy that you miss when you go away...

This was amazing. It was a true to life plot. The ups and downs of it kept me guessing. Great story.

I love Jana Deleon's writing, that is until now. This novel seems to have been written by someone else. Also the proofreading, editing is terrible. There were so many errors that I began counting them instead of paying attention to the plot. I gave Ms. Deleon based on the joy I've had in reading all her other books but if I had read this one first I might not have read any of her other books and they are wonderful. I will read the next book in this series with the hope that it will be back to her excellent story telling standards.

I love this series. The characters are so crazy and down to earth, it makes you want to live there and get caught up in all their exploits. Start from the beginning if you have never read any, you won't be sorry, and you won't get much sleep trying to get to the next book. It will be hard waiting for the next book, but I will be thinking about what Fortune can do next.

Jana Deleon is such a fun creative author. I never get bored reading these books and often laugh out loud to all the crazy situations that the characters get themselves into. The romantic side of the story always keeps you begging for more, I have binge read 8 books in the last three weeks!

I seriously adore this series. Some are more laugh out loud than the others but they are a fast read with very few annoying "tropes". I don't care for her other series, sometimes her "funny" characters can get too repetitive using the same schtik over and over again. This series has a diverse group of lead characters so the books don't fall into that trap. Looking forward to the next Fortune mystery!

Any of Jana Deleon's "Miss Fortune" books are worth reading. Start with the first in the series and work your way forward. Being a fan of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, I gauge the Plum books at a very high level--but I must say EVERY book in the "Miss Fortune" series are just as good if not better than the Plum series. You won't be disappointed.

I liked it. It just didn't have the laugh out loud humor that her other books have. I love Ida May and Gertie, and their antics are the best parts of the book. While they still helped take care of Sinful, for me, it just wasn't as funny. Also, I thought it was rather short.

Sometimes the books start to get a little redundant but for the most part I really enjoy this series and will keep reading them.

The girls are back and sharp as ever. This story has a slightly more serious tone I regards to Fortune sorting out her priorities and her relationship with Carter. Marie and Celia as well as Walter all had guest appearances but none had major roles I the high jinx. A well though out story with tight characters. Thanks for another good one, Jana. Fortune and friends step in to investigate a crime that soon turns more serious. There's the usual good mystery with plot twists, I like how recurring minor characters continue to show up in each story. I didn't find this book as humorous as previous titles in the series but it's still a great read.

I love all of Jana Deleon's Fortune series. The stories are funny, laugh out loud funny, and there is always a mystery to solve. This one was especially good because you didn't know what was going to happen to two of the main characters, because the last book was a cliff hanger. Before I read this book I re-read the series, and laughed so hard. These books are great!!

I have enjoyed all of the books in this series. I love a good mystery, but I also love the fact that these books make me laugh out loud and often. It is a rare book that can be such an enjoyable read, good mystery and a laugh out loud comedy. Please keep them coming. The characters are old friends and I want to know what happens next.

I always get a bunch of laughs out of the adventures of Fortune, Bertie and Ida Belle. The mystery this time is pretty sad. At this point, I don't know if I'd be happier with Ida Belle and Walter marrying or Carter and Fortune. Walter has loved that dang lady a very long time.

But what an amazing story this was. Lots of twists and turns and setups toward the next book. With Gertie, Ida Belle & Fortune, and the Sinful Ladies Society to aid them, there's never a dull moment. This is a great series. On to the next book!!!.

Oh my, I forgot just how funny these books are. The disguises these three tend to come up with are hilarious. Two days after finishing this book, I picture Gertie and can't help but laugh. I want to move to Sinful and be in their posse. I like that Fortune has been giving things some thought. Lots of options for her in the future! Keep 'em coming.

Such a great book. Laugh out loud funny at times but also insightful and introspective moments. Fortune and Gertie and Ida Belle are on the cases. There are two crimes occurring- cat fishing and murder. Carter and Fortune have some issues to work out as they are broken up but see each other often. As usual, Fortune figures things out and I am sad to leave Sinful and these wonderful characters.

Jana can't write fast enough for me😊 I tried to take my time reading this book but it didn't work out, finished it in one day. Now it going to be difficult to find another cause no one can write as great. Definitely recommend this but read the others first. I promise you will not be disappointed. The only disappointment I have experienced is reading them in a day.

I like this series quite a bit but the plot of this ok me was way too easy to figure out.

I started out with the first book of the miss fortune series, which has 11 books in it and I’m now on the 10th. I love these books. I love the characters the storyline and the humor. Highly recommend these to anyone. Lynda Ganaden

I love the characters, as crazy as they are. The setting in Sinful is great too. I live near the Everglades so know a bit about critters and crocs! So entertaining, this is my second time reading them. Hope they keep on coming!! Thank you. :)

Absolutely loved Fortune Hunter! Another great book by Jana DeLeon. Couldn't put it down. I adore her characters and can't wait until the next book to read more about their wonderous adventures!

Not as funny as previous books in the series, but I'm ok with that. Still love the story. I did have many instances of lost lines between 'page turns' and duplicated lines between other page turns. Not the best Kindle book. Hope an update comes out soon.

I like the books in this series. They're entertaining, easy to read and funny. But if I read one more book stereotyping truck drivers I am going to scream. I realize, it's not all that importent to the storyline, but I'm a driver. I'm female, college educated as are a lot of my colleagues. I don't frequent seedy motels at the eqge of town when I want a night out of the truck, but luck for the nice clean and higher rated ones on yelp. God, I had to get this of my chest.

I love Jana DaLeon Miss Fortune books, but the more of them I read the easier it is for me to figure out the killer, like with this one Fortune Hunter, I knew who the killer was almost immediately once they said who the victim was.

What I like best about the Miss Fortune novels is that they combine my favorite pleasure-reading genres: mystery, comedy, action-suspense, buddy-adventure, and warm-hearted romance. I've become very fond of these characters, and I look forward to reading each new adventure. As far as I'm concerned, DeLeon can't write them fast enough. Oh, and the last bit of the mystery solved in this particular novel is nicely ironic.

If lots of action and skittle comedy then you'll love this one. As we say in the south, "she's a mess". And that's a good thing!. Fun, thoughtful surprise as you turn each page. Don't forget the hint of romance. All a reader would want. Jana gives.

Each book is laugh out loud funny. Of course there are serious parts too. Fortune is trying to decide what to do with her life. Her job is a good part of her identity. Sound familiar. How much of your occupation is a part of who you are? They action doesn't stop not do the laughs!

This was another continuation of the antics of Fortune, Gertie, and Ida Belle. More up and down, on again off again romance with Carter. Oy. That gets pretty predictable. They fly off the handle like kids in middle school. However, at the end of this book, they start being honest. The killer was a good twist, but you’ll probably pick up on the foreshadowing pretty soon. Still, Gertie and Ida Belle missed it.
