The original conscious parent!
Fred Rogers respected children and treated them with kindness and empathy. I haven't read every page of this book but it's such an easy guide to follow and seems completely in line with Conscious Parenting! This was the book everyone should have been reading when I was younger!
Simple and Deep, Fred's Last Book
This was the last book that Fred Rogers worked on. While I liked all of his earlier books, this one just seem to have a simplicity and depth that comes with aged wisdom. Fred Rogers often said, "Simple and deep is far, far more essential than shallow and complex". The world of parenting books is full of shallow and complex, fad and fashions. Fred just speaks gently, deeply, out of profound respect for children and parents, and a timeless understanding of the "inside" world of human beings. The book reads like Fred is talking. Not judgmental. Not prescriptive. Compassionate. Understanding. Hopeful. What a wonderful friend that all parents will always have. What a kind champion all children will always have.
For Parents of Young Children
This book is well written, with short and focused chapters on the subjects selected. It's almost as if the content was written with a young parent/parent of young children in mind. There are many parenting books out there, this one considers that I only have so much time to read at a time - and I'm able to read a chapter in a very short amount of time. I bought the kindle edition.
I bought two so I could share with others.
Same review for all of Mr. Rogers' books. His work is genius, imo. The 40 honorary degrees, several Emmys and Presidential Award are for real. Wish I got to see them when I was a child. I give this as a gift. I hope his legacy gets the attention it deserves.
You can never go wrong with Fred Rogers
This book is written in simple terms. Fred Rogers encourages as much forgiveness and understanding of ourselves as parents as he does of our children. He recognized that it isn't much easier being the parent than it is being the child, and that we can give ourselves credit for loving and caring about our children, even when we later decide to change some aspect of our parenting.
A Compassionate guide to Parenting
As one would expect from Mister Rogers, this book is ideal for parents of toddlers and young children. He explains both in terms of the general psychological philosophy and then in specific ways how to deal with the basic fears and issues of childhood. He provides approaches that are easy and practical, and quickly reassure the child.
Read it from the library, had to buy the book.
This is how I want my children to be raised. Mr. Rogers is more than a cultural icon, he's a man who has though long and hard about what it's like to be a little person in a big person's world. What a wonderful theory for guiding a youngster through life. I hope I can live up to Mr. Roger's model of how to behave as a parent and in life. -Sarah

This book was everything I wanted and more. I could almost hear Mr.Roger's gentle voice narrate it as I read along. I highly recommend it.

ALways loved Mr Rogers, so calm, reasonable, needed for the 21st century! Am making a collection for work. Helpful guide and calms the reader too.

A must read!
Very pleased
Helpful and supportive information presented in a practical way
Unlike other books about parenting and young children that I looked at before I found The Miser Rogers Parenting Book, the infomation presemted in this book is concise enough to read through with ease. Topics are universal to most children and parents, but Mr. Rogers' approach is fresh and unique in my experience. I appreciate very much that the tone of this book is never preachy or suggestive of "shoulds and must nots". Rather, it provides support and creative ideas who are seeking to better understand their small children and to give them the love and guidance they need, while also being consistent role models. This is a wonderful book, and Mr. Rogers was a gem.
