Merry Christmas Mom and Dad (A Golden Look-Look Book)

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the "story" of this Merecer Meyer book. We have enjoyed reading other Little Critter books with our toddler, but this one just lists page after page of things that didn't turn out the way he planned, which is totally fine, but I expected the mom and dad to say how much they appreciated his effort or loved him just the way he was, whatever, but it just ends. Good thing was that it was cheap.

Purchased this book for a 24 day countdown to Christmas. I wrap up 24 books and put them in a open box. Then Dec. 1st I let one of my grandchildren open a book then I read it to them. This way they learn to count, listen, take turns and wait. It is fun to do.

Adorable book! I purchased this for our literary advent calendar tradition. The 12 days of Christmas, done with a book each night. Perfect for our two year old daughter! Would buy again!

I love the classic Little Critter books! They bring me back to my childhood and although my daughter is too little to sit through them patiently yet, I know she will enjoy them as much as I did! I have started a collection for her and I have read through them all several times even without her. :)

Mercer Mayer delivered again! My son loves the Critter books. He's five, and we bough laugh out loud at these books. Can't beat the price, either.

This book said it came used in good condition. IT CAME WITH A NOTE TO SOMEONE FROM THEIR GRANDPARENTS! That is not good condition. That is terrible and the book was for someone else! So I give it to them with a pen written note?! Horrible

Don't remember ordering this book.

I realize that the name of the company is recycled something or other, however, the book said "New". Talk about a misrepresenation! That book was no more new than I am the President of the United States. Upon seeing it I immediately threw it in the garage for fear of bead begs and then washed my hands. It was so disgusting! Bent coreners, soilded pages, magic marker all over it. This product should not have been sold, it should have been given to GoodWill. Actually, its not even good enough for that. At $3.00 there is no point in returning it, however, this company needs to re-learn the meaning of the word, "New". What a joke!

This was one of the first books my mother ever read to me as a child, and it was the first book I read by myself when learning to read. I was so proud of myself. Such a simple, beautiful little story. My copy is rather old since my mother got it when it first came out because Little Critter was a fun series for my little sis and I, and this Christmas one is really fun. It isn't the money or amazing gift that counts, it's the heart and work put into the gift that makes Christmas special. 30 plus years later and I STILL read this every Christmas. The same book my mother read to me as a child, with messages from my grandparents, who have passed, on the inside cover. Thanks for the many memories, Mercer Mayer.

This book simply makes me smile. You can't help but fall in love with Little Critter and his attempt to make Christmas a success. He tries to bake cookies, but he eats them himself. He tries his hardest to go right to sleep on Christmas Eve, but he is too excited. Thinking he is doing his parents a favor, Little Critter wakes up at 6 AM and brings his new toys upstairs instead of having his parents get out of bed. Mayer's illustrations and fun and colorful. One or two sentences of text are a perfect addition to the pictures. Children will not lose interest in this book because of the short text and appealing color. Mayer's choice to add a special critter (spider, grasshopper, etc.) on each page makes it fun to search for them with children. This is an excellent book to read to young children around the holidays. After reading it, you will want to buy more in the series.

We love Little Critter books around here. They're short, they're funny, they're topical, and they're cheap. This one is just a sweet story about how Little Critter tries to make a special Christmas for his parents - naturally, following the formula of these books, he doesn't get it *quite* right. But that's okay :)

Not the best Little Critter Book, but kids like it

I find this story very cute and funny, I think it is adorable how the little boy tries to do all good things for his parents and he just has the hardest time doing them. I think all children could relate to this story because when Christmas time comes around they want to do all they can because they know Santa is watching and they have to especially good. I would reccomend this book to all ages because I think they would find it cute just as I did.

I can only give this book 3 stars, because in the series, there are a dime a dozen. It is cute and I added it to our Christmas picture books. The kids LOVED it. Nothing is funner for little kids than seeing a naughty little kid that doesn't listen and makes mistakes.

I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my kids, they loved it!

How can you go wrong with Little Critters?! Such a classic!! Shipped fast and was in great condition!

My kids love all the Little Critter books, and this is no exception. Cute Christmas story and a bargain in paperback.

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the "story" of this Merecer Meyer book. We have enjoyed reading other Little Critter books with our toddler, but this one just lists page after page of things that didn't turn out the way he planned, which is totally fine, but I expected the mom and dad to say how much they appreciated his effort or loved him just the way he was, whatever, but it just ends. Good thing was that it was cheap.

Purchased this book for a 24 day countdown to Christmas. I wrap up 24 books and put them in a open box. Then Dec. 1st I let one of my grandchildren open a book then I read it to them. This way they learn to count, listen, take turns and wait. It is fun to do.

Cute book but kind of bummed that the version we were shipped does NOT include bonus stickers, like the image in the listing shows. We often buy our children’s books secondhand but i’ve purchased some new because of the bonus stickers. This was one of those times that I opted for new for the stickers. Glad I didn’t mention them to my kid as we were opening the package.

He decided to "read" the book to his class, well the teacher caught on to him memorizing the book instead of reading it when he skipped a page while turning the pages. He has fond memories of this book so I thought I would replace his long lost favorite book.

We love Little Critter, and this has a similar theme to most Little Critter books. Little Critter tries to help in his own little-kid like way, but of course runs into little-kid type problems. I remember reading this book as a child and now I read it to my own little boy. It's a very sweet, simple Christmas story.

A great book, full of charming situations that remind you that sometimes good efforts do not always have the desired outcome. This fun book will surely become a Christmas and year round favorite. As a kindergarten teacher, I see it very perdictable for young readers. Enjoy!

Fun book

What a perfect little book for the year 1s! My daughter did the Mercer Mayer "Little Critter" books at school with her teacher and loved them so much she wanted me to get her some for bedtime reading. This particular one made such an impact, we are still reading it in March! Lovely illustrations and very sweet text. Recommended to all tender souls out there, the very young and the not-so-very-young.

Lui vorrebbe aiutare ma combina un pasticcio dopo l'altro....in fondo e' un cucciolo e tutto gli viene perdonato! I disegni sono incantevoli e poetici, la storia e' semplice e anche se il lettore bambino non sa ancora leggere bene capira' tutto al primo colpo d'occhio, tanto le situazioni sono evidenti ( e... divertenti!). Avevo scoperto Mercer Mayer e il piccolo Criceto una trentina di anni fa, quando mia figlia allora di 3 anni smanettava col mio computer (era un CD Rom interattivo). Ora ho scoperto questi piccoli libretti, con colori bellissimi ed ad un prezzo accessibile e non ho resistito alla tentazione. La serie e' lunghissima e non manchera' l' argomento che preferite. Io ho acquistato i libri in inglese ( un inglese facile facile, non vi spaventate...) ma forse esiste in catalogo anche la versione italiana.

I love the book but every time I order the critter books its like they decide to wreck the spine of the cook every time

Love this book. The person who prepared the package got glue on the front cover of the book though (from the tab that closes the envelope). I was able to peel it off and the book is otherwise great.

Its cute but not very entertaining for kids. Theres no story. Its just a couplevwords on each page and then the book is finished. My kids are 2 and 4 and they didnt seem too impressed with the book.

Not a fan. You kind of have to explain the story of what’s happening because it goes straight into this creature doing the acts.
