“Sands writes books that keep readers coming back for more.”
Katie MacAlister, author of A Girl’s Guide to Vampires
In the world of the sexy and seductive Argeneau family of vampires, true love is good from the first bite to the last. Love Bites is a classic from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Lynsay Sands, the second volume in her much beloved Argeneau series—the story of an achingly hot three hundred year-old bachelor immortal and the beautiful coroner he chooses as his lifemate. Paranormal romance just doesn’t get any tastier than this!

Read Too Young For My Tastes
This book read too young and cutesy for my tastes. I would think the target audience was pre-teens except for the numerous explicit sex scenes. Up to now I thought the “Twilight” series had the most watered-down vampires, but this series takes that crown hands down. Not too impressed with Rachel a head coroner, who acts like a teenager with raging hormones and very little intelligence geared toward reasoning out much after being “turned” into a vampire. She believes she is dreaming and does she enjoy her wet dreams. I was further disappointed with Rachel when she does not seem upset, rather she is just thrilled to have all these super powers. A vampire fan girl just adds to my distaste of her. I almost stopped reading, but decided to give this book a chance and finished it. Typical routine love story with a bit of danger to the damsel in distress. The heroine is just window dressing for the hunky Hero with the usual minor love crossed misunderstandings. I like my vampires dark and dangerous and this does not interest me. A quick refund is in order.
Need laughter? Read this series!
First, I have to confess, I began this series by checking out books 1-10, from my wonderful King County Library System several years ago! Since then I have usually purchased the series for my Kindle devices. I was intrigued by the concept of longevity, blood requirements, and the humor of people who are currently living in my own time. Lynsay Sands writes with such fun, instead of "wooo-hooo vampires" that addiction soon followed. From being able to read thoughts, unless they turn out to be their one & only, to suddenly becoming ravenous for food & lots of sex, which by the way, causes fainting, no matter the location, explanations re: Atlantis, etc. Crazy situations, family dynamics, the use of blood banks, and reactions from those who are "normal"! Scenarios are unusual, and laughter follows....
4½/5 stars
Love Bites by Lynsay Sands Book #2: Argeneau Series Source: Purchase (Print and Audible) My Rating: 4½/5 stars After more than 300 years of living, Etienne Argeneau finally has some new entertainment. He has a Pudge. More specifically, Pudge is a completely disturbed human who has decided, in sad, his muddled mind that he must kill Etienne. After 300 years, Etienne is willing to play along until he or his family can come up with a way to safely dispose of the disturbed man. And then Etienne lands himself in the morgue . . . . twice! Rachel Garrett considers herself to be a rational woman of science, but when the corpse of the seriously hot man appears in her morgue, twice, it’s time to start questioning some things. Since a person can’t die twice, there must be an explanation. Thankfully, that explanation comes in two forms: 1) the first time he “died” was just a hallucination brought on by the flu; 2) the second time he “died” was because something called Pudge blew him up. But, what the hell is a Pudge and why was he going on and on about the dead man being a vampire and why are all the crispy burned bits flaking off? When Rachel eventually comes to, she has a metric ton of questions. One would think, after 300+ years of life, Etienne would be far better at answering questions. He is not, and it takes about 30 seconds for him to convince Rachel she is in the midst of a dream. A very long, very heavily populated, weirdly erotic dream, that involves Etienne’s mother . . . . wait, what? Since no one’s mother should ever appear in a wet dream, Etienne’s mother and sister take over and have a serious conversation with Rachel about her new life situation. Though Rachel is justifiably freaked out by her situation, she’s learning to cope with it with Etienne’s help. Though Rachel frustrates Etienne, she also challenges him and brings to life thoughts and feelings he has firmly tucked away for many a long and lonely decade. She’s sexy and smart, funny and capable, and willing to put in the hard work needed to adjust to her new life. She also loves his video game 😊 As if the new life training wheels weren’t enough, Rachel and Etienne also have to deal with the continued presence of Pudge. Dealing with Pudge is a necessity and as Rachel and Etienne soon find out, it is a necessity that will have to be dealt with sooner rather than later. Pudge has plans . . . . The Bottom Line: I liked this installment of the Argeneau series even better than the first! Rachel is hilarious in her determination to believe she is caught up in a dream, and Etienne’s “stupidity” after 300+ years of life is stunning. His poor mother 😊 There are so many funny, sexy, silly moments in this book that I couldn’t take my headphones off. Yeah, I listened to this one cover to cover, so to speak, in a single sitting and loved every minute. I particularly enjoyed watching Rachel unravel Etienne’s world and reminding him that he may be old, but there is a lot more living yet to be done. As for me, I have many more Argeneau’s to rediscover so it’s onward and upward . . . . .
More Matchmaking!
Etienne Argeneau has a stalker who has shot him near the heart which was then the 1st time he met Rachel Garrett, the ME; he was brought in as a corpse. The 2nd time that he met Rachel was after his stalker tried to blow him up with his car & he was brought to the morgue again; but this time Rachel was killed by his stalker when she tried to save his life, so he turned her to save her life. & now the fun really begins as he & his family try to convince her that she's not a "blood sucking demon". Etienne as he can't read her mind or sway her in anyway knows that she's his life mate & tries to woo her on many occasions. His cousin Thomas helps out a couple of times in this book. Etienne's stalker also shows up to do some more damage to Etienne & Rachel, but you will have to read the book to find out what happens. This book has a good vs bad vibe, lots of sex scenes & vampires in it & I was hooked & stayed up late to finish this book. Side note: This book was a re-read for me however, I had never written a review before & because this series has been on my mind I am now re-reading & giving a review. I haven't read this series in ages & I have most if not all in paperback so I'll be giving my kindle a break for awhile.

Reality or Fantasy
Rachael hates the night shift! She is a medical examiner who only works the night shift but has put in for a promotion that will have her working days when a body is brought in with a gunshot. He was perfect and she hesitated starting the autopsy. Etienne was weak but waking and sees a red haired woman who looks feverish and pale. When she faints and a coworker shows up he mesmerized him, has a quick bite, and goes home to call in a clean up. When a burn victim is brought in and a crazy man comes in claiming the victim is a vampire and tries to cut off his head Rachael steps in the way. Now things get tricky and Rachael is in for big changes in her life.
Sands Vampire series leaves me a bit drained......
I really like the Argeneau Vampire series -The Argeneau family is fun and lively and their quirks are a hoot! That being said after three books with the formula being the same in all three - Fill in name of Argeneau family member - have him/her meet their life partner, and have them encounter a couple of road blocks and all ends well - it's starting to get old fast. At $7.00 a book I am thinking that I really don't want to read them all as I can't see where any of the rest of them are going to be different. I feel these books should have been priced at $2-$3. No higher. I don't know if Ms. Sands is just trying out this many volume d series fad, but I hope she will return to truly inspired stories like The Switch, The Husband List, The Reluctant Reformer, Lady Pirate, Bliss etc. etc. etc. Now those were stories worth reading!!
Aged well
As I read this for the third time I think, I still have a hard time believing it was written over 11 years ago! Some books show their age through slang or fashion, but everything is done in a way that your imagination makes the "black leather skirt with a dressy shirt" something you could imagine as someone wearing today!! The whole book works that way, aging well and able to adapt to any time frame of the current era at least.
Taking the midnight watch
How many times can one person die without being dead? When you read this book you will see how the author gave us so many interesting scenarios. Plus she did what she is best at bringing love to her characters in the middle of a whirlwind. I enjoyed reading this book and learning more about the Argeneau family. So many characters that I hope to see find their HEA. I’m looking forward to reading the next book and have already loaded it on my device.
Great read!
When I first had heard of the Argeneau Vampire series, I was instantly hooked. This one is the second one of the series and one again, I loved it! This one tells of a woman named Rachel, who works in a morgue on night shift. As a a "dead" body rolls up, a mysterious man shows up wanting to kill the "dead" man, claiming of him being a vampire. The now seemingly undead man saved her life. She hates him from keeping her to live her life, but little does she know that he has turned her and claimed her as his life mate. They eve fall in love with each other. This book is action packed, lustful and vampires(who doesn't like reading about vampires?). I absolutely love this series! Highly recommend!

Loved it
Love Bites is the second book in the Argeneau Family series and in this book the focus is on Rachel and Etienne. I just loved getting to read this book and getting to learn more about these characters. It just captured my interest. I just loved this wonderful story and these characters. It was just so easy to get lost in this story. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
Disapointing...where's the plot?
I love paranormal romance, and have read many of the popular series; sadly this one seems to fall short of my expectations. Most PNR storylines follow a standard structure that involves a hero (or heroine) and a protagonist; the story leads the reader through a certain amount of angst combined with serious threats from a diabolical or sources, all mixed up with some well placed steamy sex scenes. As well as that, the vamps are otherworldly in their abilities with super-human, multi faceted (often insane) levels of varied paranormal skills. This series (and I have tried the first two) offers seriously watered down versions of the usual vampire skills and temperaments; they are sooooo nice as to be rather inane and weak creatures that are prone to all too human emotions and problems. Yawn. When I read this genre of books I have come to expect the weird and wild, with all the bells and whistles of paranormal crazy strength and abilities with equally mad villians who are nearly (but not quite) as strong. Sand's books seem to only deal with the nuances of love and the trials of new relationships with exactly one very watered down bad guy for a little difficulty...I found myself disliking both the main characters for their lack of character. Sorry fans of this series...thumbs down for me!
Wow if some could go wrong
It would!!! Etienne is plagued by a crazy guy named Pudge. First he's shot and taken to the morgue and meets Rachel once the bullets out, he revives of course! Next Pudge burns him! Etienne is not having a good time! Again taken to the same morgue! And the crazy goes on!! Great read!!
I have almost all of her vampire books.
I love her stories and her characters. They are always funny, sweet and sexy. There are always plot twists to keep it interesting and being turned into a vampire or immortal will always cause problems. There are no sexier men or women than the Argeneaus.
2nd in Lynsay's hit vampire series!
Lynsay Sands’ hit SINGLE WHITE VAMPIRE was the first in her series of books about a modern day dysfunctional vampire family the Argeneaus. Love Bites is the second and takes up the story of Etienne, Lucern’s younger brother. (These are the books that Lucern has been writing that everyone thinks are just vampire romances!) Rachel Garrett has been bouncing between chill and fever and it had nothing to do with the dead man on the table before her. She works in a hospital morgue, after all, so seeing dead bodies were a just part of a work. It was the flu. She needed to be in bed resting, but the caseload was stacking up so there was no time to pamper herself. Only to find a dead body handsome, well that MIGHT be attributed to the flu. But after, when she jokingly apologizes for having to cut away the expensive slacks and the corpse replies, she feels entirely justified in fainting. After a week’s recovery, she is back on the job when they bring in another body, this one totally burned from a car explosion. As Rachel begins to remove his possessions and tag the body, she is puzzled when the body seems less charred, and then the blackened flesh begins to desquamate, sort of like a snake shedding its skin. Worse, she detects a heartbeat. Just as her mind is trying to adjust to this bizarre situation, an ax-wielding madman rushing into the room screaming for her to get away from the body that is was a vampire. She’s horrified when she sees this nutcase is going to cut off the head of the man - who may not be dead. Not giving a thought, she jumps in front of him as he brings the ax down. Too late Rachel understands her stupid mistake. Etienne awakes to find Rachel dying. Though they are governed by rules about turning people into vampires, you may turn a mate into a life partner, so Etienne repays her heroic saving of his life by saving hers by making Rachel a vampire. His mother and brother arrive on the scene and take Etienne and Rachel home. When Rachel awakens, she is in a lot of pain, nude, and strapped to a bed, with an IV giving her blood. She is surprised to find the horrid ax wound is healing, leaving only a tiny scar and even nearly fades before her eyes. Trying to find some answers to the zillions questions flooding her mind, she wraps the sheet around her and ventures forth only to find a coffin in a darkened room. For the second time in her life she nearly faints, as the occupant of the coffin sits up and begins talking to her. Thus begins the rocky romance of Etienne Argeneau and Rachel Garrett. Etienne figures once Rachel understands it was the only way to save her life, she will quickly adjust to her new state, after all her body is in a better state that it ever was - and hey no split ends!! First problem is Rachel gets most of her vampire lore from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so she is not exactly thrilled with being “an undead blood-sucking demon” Rachel soon learns there advantages to the door Etienne has opened for her, so love would will find a way - just as soon as Etienne can do something about the Pudge the ax-wielding idiot who fancies himself a vampire slayer! Lynsay gives another wonderful, fuzzy vampire tale in the Argeneau family. Cannot wait till early 2004 for Bastien’s story!!
More of the Same Excellent Reading Enjoyment
The entire Argeneau Vampires series is the most entertaining series in this whole genre. They are always funny without being stupid and throw in some drama, a couple of bad guys and a main couple who are dancing around each other (the male usually well meaning and bumbling a bit) and you have a great reading adventure in store for you. I read them all sold them , then bought them all again and am in the process of reading them again (not to mention the ones I bought or recommended to people), the worst in the series is better than most writers have in their series. This particular effort is no exception. I will not bore you with rehashing the plot , if you have not read the books prior to this in the series then you need to back up and do that first. Unlike almost every series I have ever delved into, this one really has no weak titles, just good and better :) Enjoy your reading, this is what you want.
I wonderful addition to the series.
As usual, these can be read as stand alone and in any order. It is mildly helpful to read them in order, but not necessary to understanding the story. I also like that each story has its own plot and isn't just a repeat of the ones that came before. Characters are well defined and mostly human ;) This one even has some humor near the end. I about rolled own the floor when the villain stated going on about Renfield. The reference to Love at First Bite was just the right touch to his craziness. So even though we are given all the usual elements and thee are no twists or turns, the characters have their own uniqueness. Well worth my time. And it is in published format- no editing errors of note.
Lifemates
The book 📖 started out funny and full of interesting ideas💡 about vampires 🧛♂️🧛♀️. Then it turned into a slow story about love 💗. Then kidnapping happened, excitement again and the cops 🚓 had to be convinced the bad guy was nuts, which didn’t take much effort. Finally love ❤️ triumphs!!!
The second book in this series is just as wonderful as the first one!!!
You go, Lyndsey, this book has your distinctive creativity all over each page!!! I truly enjoyed reading it again and will find myself reading again soon!!! Recommending this book and series is pure joy for me! Because I know that everyone who gets this series is going to enjoy every single page and when they get to the end, they will be waiting for the next installment with bated breath!!! ADDICTIVE SERIES!!!!!
This was another great book by lynsay sands. I love the argeneau series. I actually love all her books. I love that this a funny vampire book and not so serious all the time. It was a pleasant surprise. I think lynsay sands books are like a potatoe chip you just cant have one, you want to consume them all. Very addictive. I just recently discoverd her as an author, and I cant wait to read more. At first I thought oh no not another vampire book, but im glad I decided to read it, its nothing like other vampire novels ive read. You dont want to miss these novels.
Love Bites
Loved Rachel and Etienne's story!!! This story was exciting, sexy, romantic and full of love and I really loved it!!! Major vampire fan since Twilight, and Lynsay Sands delivers plenty!!! Love how the Argeneau family story is continuing......
How have I missed this for over a decade?!
What's not to like about intelligent, sexy vampires finding their immortal beloved? A well-crafted story that had this bookworm reading it in one go,and ready to buy the next
Love Bites book 2
I've been a fan of Lynsay Sands for a long time, I find her book entertaining. They have excitement, comedy and best of all hot sex.
Buy the book
Good starting point any one of the books you can start
Fun and entertaining live the Argeneau family
Always entertaining. Love all the characters can't wait to read about the rest of the family and extended family I think they should start a find your mate club
Blood Lust
Not my favorite, but still very enjoyable. The whole Pudge was excellent, but the romance is almost anti-climatic. The signs were there, but not played up.
Laughed till I cried!
Lynsay Sands delivers as always. Her books are always well written with a charmingly funny wit that shines throughout. The story centers around Etienne a creator of vampire video games and Rachel a coroner anxious to get off the night shift. Etienne is a quirky character who likes to sleep in a coffin because it helps to inspire him in his work. He quickly falls for Rachel after he saves her life for earlier saving his. I laughed throughout the book. One of my favorite scenes is in the garden where Rachel drinks blood from his penis during sex play and drinks too much causing a very funny outcome. This book is a delight!
Second or third time read!
I’m not really sure how many times I’ve read this book and this series. I might be on my third time reading book two. And I will continue to read every single book that follows this!!
Good book as part of the Argeneau series
Hysterically funny and full of several characters of interest. Well done
This is a Lynsay Sands book... 'Nuff said
This is a Lynsay Sands book.. 'Nuff said. Honestly, seeing anything with the name Lynsay Sands lets me know automatically that it will be a great book/series. I first read the Argeneau Series, when it initially was released, here I am years later re-reading it yet again for the 3rd time. This time I bought the e-versions considering I lost every paperback version I had in a house fire. All I can say is it was well worth it to read these amazing books again. I love how each book in the series intertwined characters from past and present books, how Ms. Sands makes you feel like you are part of this huge exclusive family. I don't want to say much about the story/plot line and ruin the book for others, like I have seen other reviews do. What I will say is your life is definitely lacking if you skip reading this series, or any Lynsay Sands book for that matter.
fun story
Rachel has a lot to learn about vampires and Eteine has a lot to learn about Rachel too. Pudge is the antagonist they need to take care of.
Lynsay Sands Argeneau Series is top drawer!
Lynsay Sands is a great paranormal romance writer. The Argeneau Vampire Series is great. I have all of the books in this series and love all. I would recommend this book.
Whether it's her Argeneau or Highland series, they're all great
Whether it's her Argeneau or Highland series, they're all great
Fun & entertaining series I am growing to love more & more...
Another fun addition to the series. Etienne and Rachel are a likable coupling and I look forward to seeing more of them in future books. I am still in awe over the vampire theme in this series, nano technology would have never crossed my mind. Fantastic imagination Lynsay!! Off to start the next book in the series! Please note if you are looking for a BDB or Anita Blake similarity you won't find it in this series. This is a fun and often comical series with romance thrown in for good measure!!
Uneven...
The is the second Argeneau Vampires tale by Lyndsay Sands, if read in the author's intended reading order. This is the story of Rachel, a morgue attendant who is working her usual night shift when a dead man is brought in twice. Yes, it the same dead man. Etienne has been killed twice, once by a bullet through the heart and then again burnt to crisp. Rachel finds herself sickeningly attracted to what she assumes is a corpse. Things aren't as they appear of course and Etienne is a vampire. Rachel saves Etienne's life and then he repays the favor. The only way he can save her life though is to 'turn' her into a vampire. Etienne must than house her and teach her all the ways of the vampire. The portion of the book dealing with Etienne showing up in the morgue, revealing himself to her, and then saving and turning her is top-notch storytelling. I was enraptured by the book at this point and convinced I had found a winner. After Rachel is turned the book begins a downward spiral from which it never quite recovers. The tale becomes just plain silly when the focus turns to romance between the two vamps. This includes some of the cheesiest and just plain odd dialouge I have ever come across in my years of romance and/or paranormal reading. Even the sex scenes are yawn and cringe worthy. The end tries to recapture some of the book's earlier enjoyment with the showdown against Etienne's rival/stalker. But by this point, the book stumbles into another downfall. The ending delves straight into the old tried and true formula romance. There is a misunderstanding between the couple and one of the couple runs away. They spend some time apart, and finally come back together again, after both admit how miserable they were apart. Ok, I think we've all read that plotline a few too many times. Except for the beginning of the story, this book shows none of the comical fun and romance of "A Quick Bite". I must say, I am a little disappointed.
Etienne Argeneau is a sexy geek!
It just seemed like Etienne couldn't catch a break in the beginning. I laughed at how often he ended up in the Morgue. Rachel risked her own life to save her "corpse" from being decapitated. It takes her a while to get used to being a vampire. Another great story and getting to see more of the Argeneau clan.
Excelelent
Loved this story. It was well written. A very cute love story with charming characters. I recommend it. You'll love these vampires.
LOVE BITES!!!
Great Read! Lots of action and romance. Etienne and Rachel are the focus of this book. Someone is trying to kill Etienne and Rachel tried to stop him and ended up mortally wounded. Etienne turns her to save her life but now he has used his one turn so if he meets his lifemate he won't be able to turn her. Now he has two problems. The man who is trying to kill him and dealing with Rachel. But all is not lost once he realizes he turned his lifemate. GREAT STORY!
Okay
Light and fun, but not a lot of substance
Love the Argeneau series!
Another fabulous book! I can't tell you how much I love these stories. Every new chapter in this series as good as the last! I love the humor that is brought and really hope the series never ends!
Amazing Book
After reading twilight series i was looking for a new vampire love story and came across this one. got to say i love the first book a quick bite and finished it in 3 days, this book was no different before i knew it was the end of the book. the only problem about this book is it seem a bit rushed, i wish the author made the book longer to make sure the whole story was covered in a normal pace, everything happened too quickly. other than that this was a amazing book.
OK not great
I have always loved the Argeneau book series but this one didn't do it for me. It had a good beginning but it seemed in the middle it drooped and then it keep on going down. I mean Rachel was supposed to be a spit fire and not going to take anyone's crap yet the second her sexy vampire friend touched her she melted and forgot why she was mad in the first place. In my opinion it would be easier to just skip this one and move on to the next book. I really want my money back!
Always a pleasure to read!
I always get excited to read this book just finished for the third time and still knowing the ending didn't want to miss a page or word. I always love the characters and hope they all find their happy ending and am absolutely not wanting to stop reading til they get it!
love this series
I love the Argeneau Vampires. No spoilers here: This is a unique family of vampires with stories with a lot of hot and sexy, a good dose of bat-shit dumb humor and mystery. There are likeable (did I spell that right?) characters that evolve in the series. Include a touch of "who done it", and enough suspense to make these books an excellent read. I recommend them highly.
I'm in love!!!!!!
So I finished this book in about 6 hours. I couldn't put it down. I am so happy that there are so many books in this series. Granted, I am putting a lot of other important things aside while I read them but I just can't stop. They have just the right amount of romance and drama. I love these books :-)
Great book
Love this book. Can’t wait to read the next one. It was funny, sexy and romantic. My kind of books.
It was impossible to like this book because of too many stupid actions.
Aside from the stupidity, I was not delighted or entertained by anything else. Story brief: Etienne is a 312 year old vampire. His mother, siblings and other vampire relatives live near him in Toronto, Canada. Pudge is a human who knows Etienne is a vampire. Pudge tries to kill Etienne three times and almost succeeds. On one occasion, Pudge is aiming an axe at Etienne, but Rachel gets in the way trying to stop Pudge. Her neck gets cut as a result. The only way to save her life is for Etienne to turn her into a vampire. Much of the following story is about her learning about and adjusting to life as a vampire. Some of my problems with the book follow. CAUTION SPOILERS: Etienne was unhappy that his sleep was getting interrupted every night due to a crank caller. He said he didn't want to unplug his phone in case his family had an emergency. This is stupid. He can change his phone number. He can get a cell phone. Etienne's family told him he must convince Rachel to lie to the police about the kidnapper. Etienne knew she would be reluctant, so he waited awhile before telling her. At a relative's wedding, Uncle Lucian, read Rachel's mind and saw that Etienne hadn't told her yet. Instead of discussing this privately with Etienne, Uncle Lucian says to Etienne in front of Rachel "You've been trying to woo her to your side in the hope that she would concede to your wishes." Well, of course, this is going to make Rachel mad. It was the worst thing to say. This causes a fight, with Rachel mad at Etienne and not trusting him. Since Lucien was a mind reader he should have known this would be hurtful to the cause rather than helpful. A kidnapper has Rachel and Mrs. Craveshaw tied up in his basement. The kidnapper is lounging around in an adjacent basement room. Etienne sneaks into the basement. Instead of first going to the kidnapper and immobilizing him, tying him up or knocking him unconscious, Etienne goes to the women. He talks to them, unties them, and gives Rachel something to drink. As he is doing this, the kidnapper comes into the room with a weapon pointed at Etienne's chest. Not only was this stupid, but Etienne's two brothers were outside waiting in a car instead of helping Etienne. They claimed that Etienne wanted to be the one to rescue Rachel. As a result, Etienne almost got killed. Again, stupid. I was mad and insulted. At the police station, Etienne and Rachel were taken into separate rooms to give statements and sign documents. Rachel came out first. When she came out, a friend of the family told her that vampires were only allowed to turn one person which they reserved for their life mate. Since Etienne had turned Rachel, he would never be able to turn someone else to be his life mate. Rachel assumed that she was not loved by Etienne and that he hated her because he turned her. Because she didn't see him in the hall waiting for her, she assumed he left without her. So, she leaves, goes home with her parents and doesn't see Etienne for a few weeks. Meanwhile, Etienne thinks she doesn't love him because she left without saying goodbye to him. Neither one contacts the other. This is one of my pet peeves, separation due to inaccurate assumptions about each other, when a brief conversation would have solved the problem. Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: six. Setting: present day Toronto, Canada. Copyright: 2004. Genre: contemporary paranormal romance. For a list of my reviews of other Lynsay Sands books, see my 5 star review of "Love is Blind" posted 1/22/07.

Good book
If love bites,
...Sometimes life sucks! But not in this wonderfully adventurous and adventurously funny tale of two somewhat addlepated and bewildered lovers meant for each other, but taking one or the other wrong turn on the road of love... In the end of course, love prevails, and who doesn't like a happy ending? Certainly I do! Try this one on for size! I'll bet it's a good fit, no matter how misanthropic you might be! There is a little bit of yearning for romance in most of us...
More of the Same
I enjoyed the novelty plot of the first book in this series and ordered the others based on that fact. By the third book the story line was becoming predictable ... vampire meets and falls in love with human, turns them into vampire and then must explain origins and benifits of immortal's (vampire) life. Our hero must then survive the attack of a mortal who wishes to destroy all vampires. Be aware there are multiple graphic four page sex scenes. I'm not against an occassional sex scene, but these seem to take the place of meaningful conversations or character development. The male characters all have the same personalities; the author just substituted names, dark hair for blonde and change their jobs.

Five Stars
Another great book by Lynsay Sands. I love this series. So funny and sexy
A good second book in the series
I gave this book five stars because it was a lot of fun. I've read it before, but I didn't remember it was full of good characters and an interesting plot. I recommend this book for you.

Loved It
Out of the original 4, Love a bites have always been my Favorite of them. Their all a Fantastic read, but this one is best. Shockingly Sweet. Informative. Romantic. With just the right suspense.
An accidental turning
Etienne Argeneau's and Rachel Garrett's story was a good one, with the witty humor that comes with a Lynsay Sands' novel. Pudge, the man that was causing havoc during the book was different than her usual "bad guy". He seemed to turn from murderer to vampire wannabe. Still a good story line.
Loved It!
Great story writing, character development. Like watching a great movie in your head. Can't wait to read the next one.
Awesome,Awesome
I love this family. Intrigue, romance, sex (hot steamy sex) sadness, devestation, heart break and fun,, what is there not too love about the family that faces all these life changing things and still see the benefits of loving and carng for each other is what life is all about!!!!!
Humorous Vampires
Ms. Sands has developed her own take on the vampire myth. Rather than focus on the gothic elements, she uses contemporary settings and has both her vampire and mortal characters deal with their situation with a particularly wry humor. These books are a pleasant diversion.
Love the book
Love this it was great read and funny the frist one was funny to the book was very well written
Great ending
Really enjoyed this book
Love it
This author rocks. I love reading everything she writes. I have started rereading this series and still love it. Happy reading
Wow
Great old fashioned love story with a bite. I can really envision this story as a movie that I would watch again and again.
Love Bites
I think this series is very entertaining--I love the Argeneau family! The combo of suspense, romance, humor, etc. reminds me of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. It is not has "hardcore" as some of the other vampire series out there, but definitely worth reading. I have read the first 4 in the series and look forward to the rest!!!!
Great series
This is my third time reading this series. I go looking for new books and authors and find mostly trash.
Different kind of Vamps
I have always found vampires interesting and romantic...but they were basically the same stories. In the "Argeneai series", vampires are a little different...therefore their families and lives are different.
A classic
I deeply enjoy the Argeneau series. It is witty and the ability to meet the family over several books feels like making friends with them as you go.
Oh Lynsay
I have purchased Lynsay Sands entire argeneau series!!! These stores are so amazing! I love all the levels she incorporates within them. A must have series for the romance reader even if you're not into the supernatural stuff. I wasn't at first but I can't put her books down!!
Greate Read!
I did like this book after a while, however, it did take me a while to get into it. I feel that a lot of her books have the same plot to them but in different situations. I tend to like her later books in the serious as to opposed the earler ones, but over all it was a good book. =)
Awesome Series
Have all her bokks but wanted to read again. Now on Kindle.
Love Bites, is pure Love!
Love Bites was a pleasure to read and I'm on board to read the rest of the series and can't wait for the rest of the Argeneau's adventures. This is a welcomed take and addition to the entire vampire paranormal romance genre. Please write more Lynsay Sands.
Yes, Love Bites
My husband is an IT Architect, and I could only dream of him being remotely close as romantic as Etienne. This book contains sheer romance as well as lots of laughter. Sands takes the reader to a formal and typical romanticism setting that us ladies dream about. Although the ending (and storyline when you find out resulting from the ending) was somewhat silly, the story of Etienne and Rachael was lovely.
Excellent Series
Like all her books in the Argeneau series, this one did not disapoint. The whole collection is great. unlike me who started in the middle and had to go back and purchase the complete series, start from the beginning. Although, if you don't, it won't take you long to catch up. Excellent book.
Four Stars
Easy reading as most of the series are, amusing in parts. Good for reading on the beach!
Excellent addition.
You won't be disappointed. So many twists and turns. I love that there is also fun in this series and not everything is so serious.. Laughter is good! Love this series for all the adventure and thrilling journeys.
Vampires Oh Yeah
I love all of the Argeneau Books. I can't wait to collect them all. I feel like I know them personally.
Five Stars
All the books are wonderful.
LOVE THIS!
Love Bites is one of the best books I have ever read! The only one that tops this is Lynsay Sands' "Accidental Vampire". The whole series (Argeneau Vampires) is by far the best series I have ever read. I have never been dissapointed in her books. EVER! Do not hesitate! Grab this series! You won't be dissapointed!
Good beginning to the series
I read this when it first came out in paperback and time has not dated the story.Good background for the series.Sands take on "vampires" is very original-they are Atlantians and their descendants
STUPID AND SILLY!!!!
I know Ms. Sands books are suppose to be funny, but they are not they are just supid and silly. This story is about Etienne Argeneau Vampire and his love interest Rachel Garrett Mortician, they meet at Hospital Morgue because Etienne has been shot and apprears to be dead well we know he is not!!!! Etienne has a stalker killer after him who blows him up in his and his car and is constantly trying to find ways to kill him. This is where I have my problem with the story The Vampires in these books have no great powers just mine readers it is nothing interesting about them in this story he doesn't even defend hismself, nor was he able to stop the attack and then the kidnapping of Rachel his love interest he just keeps saying he had to think of away to stop Pudge the villian in the story. I found Ms Sands developed Pudges character an story line better than she did the main to charaters in the story. If somebody is trying to constantly kill you and your girlfriend you are going to do something about it like go on the offense, I Started rooting for Pudge!!! and that sick!!!! Very stupid silly story!!
Wonderfully Fun and Fast Paced
I loved this book. I really do hope that is a start of a series because I would so like to see what happens to his brothers. The unique premise for vampires was very well done and one of the best alternate vampire origins I have ever seen. Thank you again. MoonRyu
Indulgent.
I really enjoy the story lines and like the different way she portrays the vampirism. Always an indulgent read.
Love Bites
This book is part of the Argeneau Vampire Series written by Lynsay Sands. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading vampire stories that are varied but still maintain continuity between the books and the characters.
Great book
I've read this book several times and have loved it every time. This whole series is great. If you love romance and vampires you'll love these books.
A funny twist on being immortal!
Since has a unique twist on what happens when you can only be killed in a specific way and yet look dead otherwise. As Etienne keeps finding himself in the morgue it is bound to become comical. The story over all is nice but for the most part a sweet romantic fluff piece.
Great book
I loved this book. I'm a big fan of the Argeneau novels.
My favorite Vampire series.
I have been going back through the early books of this series and enjoying each book as if it was new. This book is the one that convinced me to read all the rest of the series.
Great second book
I tend to lean more towards darker vampire series like Laurell Hamilton...but this series is becoming a new favorite I can't wait to read the next one an find out what else this family is going to go thru
AMAZING!
Lynsay Sands is an amazing author! I can't put her books down and have found myself collecting all her work.
great
This author is amazing. I love the creativity behind the series! All the characters are amazing and there is great depth to her stories with interesting plot twists.
Funny and Sweet
This was a very funny and sweet book. Eminence was very romantic and Rachel's thoughts were hilarious! Highly recommend this book, and all the other Argeneau books.
I Don't Understand
The rave reviews of this book are what caused me to buy it. Now that I've read it... I don't understand at all. I found it boring, the characters forgettable, and the plot a bit silly.
Kindle
I really enjoyed this book,it was exciting and I couldn't put the book down till I completely finished it.I loved how it kept you waiting on finding out what was going to happen next.
Moved WAAAAY Too slow for me 50% of the book ...
Moved WAAAAY Too slow for me 50% of the book was based on getting the main character to accept her new life as a vampire
great reading
Reading this series is fantastic. I love all the main characters -- they're all entertaining, fin, fill of drama.absolutely love reading Lynsay's Vampire series.
Love
I love her books and this one is no different. I love how funny and sweet it is with just the right amount of drama.
Love Bites
If you like vampire books, I recommend this one and the rest of the series. Very entertaining, sexy and humorous. It's the type of series that you finish one and can't wait for the next one.
love it
OMG I am obsess with this famly. I am in-love with this books. This is a wonderful story. I am beyond happy about this book. Go get it. I think you will enjoy it very well.
Great Read
This was a very well written book. I find these books to be fast reads because I can't put them down. I very rarely find a book that challenges my vocabulary yet I find myself having to look up the definition of quite a few words in everyone one of these books. Beautiful romance with great plots. I read this series a few years back and have decided to read them all over again and it is so worth it (:
Enjoyable read
Easy way to pass time. Not necessary to read the series in order. Would like more depth in characters but enjoyed story.
her books are always a great read and so hard to put down
Lynsay Sands and the Argeneau Vampire series...Sink your teeth into one today, her books are always a great read and so hard to put down.
loved it!
Love this series. Read this one in just a day. Couldn't put it down. Getting ready to download a sample of the next one. Enjoy!
Never disappointed
I don't believe I have read any of Lynsay Sands books without being completely fascinated. The Argeneau Vampires are so sexy and romantic. I don't want to see the stories end. After I finish my stories my daughter's take turns reading them. Completely hooked on Lynsay Sands!
Five Stars
would buy it again!
Awesome!
Her books are great, you can enjoy a laugh and be enertained for every minute you read this. Every book she has written is a delight to enjoy. I simply love this author.
OK at best
This was the one Argeneau Vampire book that I did not have before and I am glad that I only purchased this on kindle and on sale. I don't want to give anything away but this book lacked the character development of Lynsay's other Argeneau Vampire novels as well as all of the humor. If you don't already have this book I would suggest skipping it and moving on to the other ones in the series that are actually enjoyable to read.
Five Stars
Very good read, nice plot and character development
Love Bites!
I have enjoyed all of the Linsay Sands Argeneau Novels. I started towards the end and have had to work my back through the series. They are light and funny and make for easy reading. I can't find them on the shelf any longer so I have been down loading them to my Kindle. This was one of my favorite stories so far!
paranormal romance
I love all of Lynsay Sands books. I have read so many of them, I can't keep the names straight, but they are all 5 stars in my opinion.
Great book.
Love this series. One of the best I have read. Can read them over and over again. Adding them to my kindle. Love Lyndsay Sands
Good..but not the best of her work!
This one is an essential read...as it sets up some of the history....and KUDOS to her for coming up with the Atlantis twist....I love it! But after reading about 4 of her books I realized that some of the other books have a much more "nail biting" plot.
Great Read!!!
From the very first chapter, the author sucks (no pun intended) the reader into the story of a beautiful night shift morgue doctor and a computer game developer vampire. From the very beginning I was intrigued by the relationship between the two main characters. Lynsay Sands once again creates a excellent backdrop to an awesome vampire book series. A must read and guaranteed to make you read it all the way through in one sitting!!!
Love Bites
Argeneau Series has been a great series to get into. Started with the first and had to get them all! Fall in love with the characters, I did!
Moves right along!
Two down and two more to go! Can't wait for the next book. Starting it right about... now! Woo Woo!
A wonderful vampire love story. Can't wait for the next one.
If you enjoy vampire love stories than this series is for you.
Had to replace original book
I love this series of books and have read them so much that my original book started falling apart. If your looking for a good vampire series this is a great one to read.
My attention
I never lose interest or have my attention diverted when I am reading one of Ms Sands book to say she keeps me entertained is to simple.
Four Stars
Love the whole series, and how the characters intertwine with each book.
Perfect
Especially if you like romantic mystery vampire novels. A game designer meets coroner, odd combination but it perfectly works. Amazing!
I love everything about it
They are so addictive once I started reading this series I couldn't stop. I would be up all night reading. I love everything about it.

Awesome
Great family. Feels like I'm part of the family just reading the novels. The story keeps you wanting more. Intriguing.
Nothing Sucks About This Vamp Novel
I am a huge fan of vampire novels, particularly ones that indulge in smutty scenes now and then. The book was amazing, as I always know Sands' work will be. The delivery process was wonderful too. The book arrived on time and in great condition. I was very pleased with my purchase.
Must read!
This is one of my favorite of the Ageneau Vampire novels. Just how Etienne and Rachel meet is entertaining enough.
the best series
I am hooked! The characters make me wish I could be like them! Where she comes up with the plot is beyond me, but I always want more...
Keep them coming. Love the family
I can not wait for the next one to come out. The family theme is wonderful as is their relationships to one another.
Lindsay Sands knows books!

I loved this book
I loved this book, I like how they ended up together because I read the books out of order by accident and had to back track to this one and I was always curious about their story cause it was brought up a couple times throughout the books. I love this series.
Addictive!
I hate it when I find a book that makes me want to keep reading... I never get anything else done!
Ordered it electronically because I couldn't find it anywhere else
I enjoyed the book, but this was the only one of this series that I could not get a paperback copy of. I am old-fashioned and don't like using e-readers.
Morbidly great
I always thought the coroners had all the fun where can a girl sign up? I really loved the way this story was put together. You can get a real feel for them as they struggle to cope with the joys and frustrations of new love as they grow to know one another. Great book for a lonely rainy day or at least it was for me.
Great book
Read it in one day and enjoyed it. It was a great read for my extended weekend, characters keep developing after each book.
vampire romance
I recently started this series of books. I am now on book # 3. Lynsay Sands, excellent author. A book that is hard to put down.

LOVE HER BOOKS
Argeneau Review
These books are the most intriguing series. I love all of them and will continue to purchase the whole series. I hope she continues to write more. She is very descriptive in her details it just makes you feel like you are there experiencing the whole story. Her sense of humor is great I find myself laughing out loud and my kids are thinking I am going crazy. Wonderful writer, Love her.
Great book for the vampire fan
The Argeneau Vampire series is great. Best read in order. I have read them all and can't wait for the next release.
Thanks
Love her books and thank-you
great author
love this series
love bites
I love this book. I can only wish to have such a beautiful, mysterious, powerful man who is not only smart, but sexually fulfilling, with a lifetime of experiences to prove it. I highly recommend this book. It is so erotic, it will make you hungry for your mate. It creates a strong desire, and teaches and takes you away into another world. Awesome book. You won't be dissapointed.
Great
Love all of her books. I can never put them down once I start I have to keep reading to the end.
Love Bites (audio book)
Book is great but the format is not. I didn't realize it was an MP3 audio book and therefore am unable to listen to it until I purchase an MP3 player, which does not help much since my wife wants to listen in her vehicle. I will need to be more attentive when buying in the future!
Three Stars
its ok..

Very Fast read and although very highly predictable nice to see woman with a clear head and not dimwits.. would recommend

Interesting summer read.
Love bites
Although this book is listed as the first in the series, the one that is the first in actual events is "a Quick Bite". This would have made it easier to follow the family events if I had known this earlier. This, however, doesn't detract from the entertaining story with a different take on the theory behind the evolution of vampires or immortals as they prefer to be called. The Atlantis background is interesting as is their whole culture. The basic story is man meets girl, they fall in love and go through the usual angst before living happily ever after but with plots and sub plots that take the story out of the ordinary. I enjoyed it so much I have continued with the series. I highly recommend them.
Good book
I really like her take on vampires. But the series gets a bit repetitive. But not so much I won't keep reading it. ☺️

Lynsay Sands is a good writer with a great sense of humor. Always gotta have a bit of humor! :)
Easy read and entertaining, characters will make you laugh out loud while reading. That for me is a good read . Just don’t expect major plot twists
Wonnderfully fun. Good read with tongue in fang plot.
Love these books!
Seemed a little slow!
I thought the book started off well. Then toward the middle, it got a little slow and weak. Otherwise, it was overall a good book. LOVED PUDGE!

WARNING! NOT A NEW NOVEL
Apparently Lindsay Sands is playing the Nora Roberts game of rereleasing a book with a different cover in order to trick people into buying it more than once. I am SO sick of that. This novel even comes up in the "new releases" list on amazon. It is NOT a new release -- in fact, it was only released in 2004 -- in paperback! -- so it's easily found with the old cover design in bookstores. Be sure to check your bookshelf and read the description of the book carefully before you buy! Sad when you can't trust that a new release from a favorite author really IS a new release.
Lynsay Sands rocks!!
I love the Argeneau vampire books. They are all very good stories. I start reading and I don't want to put it down!!

I really enjoyed Karrlyn Sparks series and on every one of her books in Lyndsay Sands but so far style is presented so it seems far fetched and while i laughed outloud in Sparks this just annoyed me. Characters come in too fast and youre not really drawn into them.
