Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: Slytherin Edition; Black and Green

When the Harry Potter Books were being written I was relatively young. I was old enough that I could have read the first four or five books while in elementary school. But I was lazy and opted to instead watch the movies as they came out. I usually read a book (that I found interesting) if there was no movie adaptation. However I recently got a wild hair up my *** to buy the first book of the series and properly read the HP series. And of course this book is wonderful. I was already a Potter fan from the movies (even if the last movie I watched was OotP) but I can tell that while the first movie was enjoyable (at least from what I remember) it did not do this book justice. There are a number of interesting details and little things that were lost from the book that you don't get in the film. Case in point the majority of the events of chapter one being cut out. So in conclusion this book is a wonderful read. I just got it this afternoon and am loving it. (Currently about a third of the way through.) JK Rowling is an amazing author and I am glad her series is as successful as it is. As someone who inspires to be a writer I'd be happy to experience even a fraction of her success. Also final note, I am really happy I got this Slytherin edition. I love the color of the book and the little extra bits are nice. I only wish I could have gotten a hardback, but did not want to buy from third party sellers. Oh well I very much do like the look of this book. Just have to be gentle with it, since paperbacks are delicate.

I haven’t been able to find this in store near me and finally caved and bought it online (which I hate doing for books since you never know the condition they’ll be in) and while I love the book, I’m disappointed in the cover. It’s scuffed to pieces and looks very dirty. It’s so scuffed that the shiny gold 20th anniversary sticker on the front is dull and no longer shiny at all. There are also some minor rolls on the edges of the dust cover which I don’t mind but tend to avoid when purchasing hardback books. Other than the scuffs and edges of the dust cover, the book is in great condition and shipping was super fast. It’s a beautiful book with fun quizzes and facts in the back and beautiful House related artwork.

The shipping is fast considering that it came from the UK. It took 2 week to arrive. The book is as described from the picture. The only problem I had was that it had a few bents on the sides from the packaging. The book also includes amazing art and illustrations. It also has fancy facts about Slytherin-related people and the house. Overall, this is a perfect gift for the proud Slytherins out there and book collectors and other HP fanatics. Definitely worth my money and time.

It's an absolutely beautiful version what with the chapter titles, old feel to the pages, and the background information on your house of choice. Don't be surprised the the edges of the pages are stuck together a bit from the green coloring on the edges as they are easy and strangely gratifying to pull apart as your turn the pages. But in general, it's common for colored edges to stick a bit. Definitely recommend!

When i purchased this I had no idea it came with added content in the front and back about your chosen house, and quizes and things too! I shared with all my Potter loving friends and they decided to rush out and buy a copy for their houses too (none of them new either). Its so worth the money if you're an avid fan and lover of your house. A must have for the true collector. Love it!

I have the hardback Hufflepuff edition and bought this for a friend. For anyone purchasing, know this is the Paperback version, but still just as awesome. The pages are still an offwhite color, just the edges are green so if you were worried about readability, you'll be fine. This is GREAT for a Slytherin fan or any HP Collector.

Definitely not the higher caliber of what I was expecting for a collectible book. Save your money. Unless you really just need to have this book as a House collectible.

This book was listed as new but the cover is scrapped and almost faded looking in places. It also appears to have a crease in it like it's been removed. It's not pretty and I wanted to display it. Picture is in closed with my other book to show the difference.

The product itself is really neat, however I am unsatisfied with the condition of the book. My copy has a large and unsightly crease right on the middle of the front cover. The cover has beautiful colors that really pop, otherwise i'd just take the jacket off and be content. Also, there is quite a loud creaking sound when you open the book, as if the glue didn't dry completely when it was bound, and so now it isn't properly sealed. I plan on putting a Harry Potter sticker on the cover to try and hide the crease, and just ignore the creaking as this is mostly going to be a display anyway.

There’s no arguing the fact that this book is good. But this edition is a must have for any slytherin! I’m so glad I got this and I can’t wait for the rest to be released!

The book itself is great, especially with all of the special Slytherin info included. The cover art on the front and back are amazing. The only reason this gets 3 stars instead of the 5 it deserves is due to somebody at the fulfillment center sticking one of the stickiest product stickers on the back. Now there's an unsightly, sticky residue still on the back cover that I am trying to remove as delicately as possible so it won't stick to the other books on the shelf.

This book is so cool! The pages themselves aren’t green, but the ends are so the book looks completely green when closed. It also has little Slytherin facts and info in the back of the book.

I ordered this for my son who is 9 years old and has just gotten into the world of Harry Potter, a visit to universal studios got his interest going so we watched all the movies and that has made him interested in the books. He took his house quiz and was sorted into Slitherin so I felt getting his first book was only fitting to be his house colors. We received the book on time (I love prime) and he was so happy it came in perfect condition and everything is exceptional. He can't wait to start reading it!

I got this for my husband and he absolutely loves it. It has a brief section on Salazar Slytherin that's really interesting.

Such a beautiful book! A friend of mine also ordered the Slytherin edition and I fell in love with it. Mine is still wrapped in the plastic because I'm a weirdo who wants to preserve it.

I was sorted in to Slytherin much to my chagrin at the time, but now own my house. Rereading the books are awesome, and the high quality makes them perfect for display now and later to pass them on to my little parsal tongue snake charming granddaughter.

Great looking anniversary edition of the first book. Bought it for my sister and she loved it, Definitely better than some of the editions that came before it. May end up buying the hardcover edition to complete the set.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for a friend. IT IS GORGEOUS. I can't wait to order a Ravenclaw one for myself. Book was in excellent condition upon arrival. Dust cover intact. It has a section in the front of the book welcoming you to the house and some house information from Salazar Slytherin. I LOVE it!

Dust cover is damaged.

The shipping facility applied packing tape directly to the dust cover of the book in 3 different places, but luckily I was able to carefully peel it off without ruining the book. As for the book itself, it’s fantastic. There’s an extra bit about each house in each edition. 5/5 for the actual book, but I removed a star for the careless way it was packaged.

Awesome SLYHERIN edition of the first Harry Potter book. My book came with a little damage on it but I’m still giving it a 5-star rating.

The book is just the book. The reason I give this four stars is because the bottom corner was bent when I received it. Thankfully the person I gifted this to didn't care too much about that but it was a little disappointing.

My bestfriend and I are such huge HP fans. Gave this to her for her birthday needless to say that she loved it. Her favorite color is green so I had to get this for her.

The book looks nothing like the photo shown in this listing. Mine came with a dust jacket that looked completely different and the hard cover underneath doesn’t have any art on it at all. The pages are not colored. Huge disappointment.

The Harry Potter series is great for 8 years old (or 3rd grade) as they start to expand their reading into chapter books. My son became a Harry Potter after reading the set! He has read this book several times. We ordered it to donate to a school in Texas that his classroom adopted after Hurricane Harvey.

I’m really disappointed with the quality of the book I received. I bought it new, but the sleeve looks awful. It looks like it’s been slid across a rough surface a few times. Does it look acceptable to be sitting on the book shelf on Malfoy Manor or 12 Grimmauld Place? I think not.

The book arrived on time. Just a little detail, the cover has a small rip, but nothing to worry about. On the other hand, some sheets of paper arrived a bit damage from the edge, fold. No problem for me, are small details, but you have to be a bit more careful in that detail in the future. Recommended.

If you love Harry Potter and want a unique copy of the first book then this is a great choice. I got this for my wife (she is a Gryffindor but loves all things Happy Potter) and she absolutely loves this. We got all four versions and they look fantastic together.

Some of the pages were wrinkled, giving it a worn appearance. Had to try to smooth them out. Still looks a little rough.

A great addition to my collection!

First of all, the book is amazing. One of my favorites of all time. I have a hardcover, a paperback, and my own copy of the hardbound Hufflepuff edition. My rating has nothing to do with the quality of the writing. Problem was, I was planning to give this particular version of it as a gift. When I opened it, it was COVERED in blue ink, scratches and dents. I checked to make sure it wasn't from the post office, but it was sealed. The ink was all from the inside of the bubble wrapped package. I'm incredibly disappointed. How am I supposed to give this?

I got my book sold as supposedly new and it is all scratched up and it looks like it was packed by a rabid cat who didn't like the book. Very disappointed.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling is just as magical and wonderful on the eighth reading as it is on the first! Oh, to be in the Wizarding World created by J.K. Rowling again! Such a wonderful place to be. I still am riveted each time I read this series and I laughed once again when Uncle Vernon sang "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" as he jumped at small noises when he was overwhelmed with the letters Harry kept receiving. J.K. Rowling has a tremendous sense of humor and she adds depth to her characters so that we can't help but fall in love with them. Happy 20th Anniversary to Harry Potter!

I was put in slytherin on the autism Spectrum and was look book read and hoping find book on my level The book is a little bit hard it’s not on kids level but good book me try to read would buy this if in slytherin or a Harry Potter Fan :)

This was actually a surprise gift and I couldn't have fallen more in love with it than I did! I'm an avid collector of books and love that perfect condition. When I received the book is has scuffing along the front of the spine, which is a little disappointing since you can definitely see it at first glance.

This book is so beautiful, the black is this beautiful matte, but the green is shiny so the contrast in them is gorgeous, the bonus Slytherin drawings in the back are beautiful and the quizzes are fun to do, loved this and the Harry Potter series

I have been a fan of the Harry Potter series ate least since I was still in primary school, so I have already read the book: ergo, I don't have to vouch for it's quality. What I should vouch for is the quality of this special edition: it's quality is impeccable, and I know this because the copy I received was in a most superb and aesthetically pleasing state. This book will have a place of honour in my home-library, and I hope that other installments of this special anniversary series will be joining it in the not-too-distant-future.

This is a great anniversary edition. The dust cover has a gorgeous green embossed Slytherin crest, as you can see on one of the photos (Would be great if it was also on the hard cover itself but, small quibble) There are some lovely illustrations of the Bloody Baron, Snape, and a map of the grounds of Hogwarts peppered throughout. The page edging is green and white rather than the house colours of green and silver, but I suppose it was just easier to leave the already white pages...white. It's barely noticeable to be honest, still looks very nice indeed. The spine has the title and author proudly emblazoned in green of course, with a nice snake emblem. Just a heads up, the book does contain spoilers in the extra content about Slytherin at the front and back.

This is a beautiful book, that was originally bought for my 14 year old. He absolutely loves it. The pages have a thick/old paper charm. Which makes it more enchanting and magical. The first three pages are all about the slytherin house, The amazing characteristics of being under this house and what makes you unique and special. Which makes it a lovely part of a limited edition collection. I have since gone on to buy the other books in this collection as a gift under the different houses for my other son, nieces and nephews. Which they love as much. I will add a photo if I can sneak the book out of my sons bedroom.. He tries to hide it from his brother to keep the house and the notes within the book sacred and special. As his brother has a book under a different house. He has the hufflepuff book from the same collection. He is 19 and although he loves the book it doesnt have the same magical quality that my 14 year old has given to his book. My youngest treats his slytherin book with such care as to him its his favourite and very best book. As an adult I think all books within this limited edition collection are beautiful. They have been written in a way that both children and adults alike will love. Like I say the pages feel think and old which add to the charm and character of the book. I also love that the edges of the book are coated in the house colours which match in beautifully to the front cover. I would definitely recommend these books to all

Nice collectible edition, love the cover and the coloured pages. However, I was a bit disappointed by the 'extra contents', I was expecting more but it's just a couple of pages at the beginning and at the end with information that can be easily gathered by reading the main books. In my opinion, it doesn't really add anything new.

I have ordered 4 of these 20th Anniversary Edition (2 Hardcover of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff edition and 2 softcover of rest 2 houses). I have received the Hardcover editions few days back and I was glad to see the different stuff related to particular houses other than the cover. I was quite sure that the Hardcover and paperback edition will not have anything different other than the cover, that's why I haven't ordered all 8 of them. I guess I was right as the paperback edition is exactly the same as the hardcover edition in terms of number of pages and overall content. The look and feel of these paperback edition is also very good. Those who don't know these anniversary editions (both hardcover and paperback) contains the introduction of house founder, House Relic and Livery and their Ghost's intro. The book also has a Hogwarts map spread in 2 pages. Apart from these there are additional stuff related to sorting, Hogwarts quiz, House Common Room, Famous house student (Draco Malfoy in this case), alumnus (Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange ) and Head (Snape) along with House Cup info. The last 3 pages are dedicated to an article about the 20 years' journey of JK Rowling focused on potterverse. It's almost as perfect as a it could get and I guess I need not to say anything about the main story because apparently the entire world is in fan-list. Go for it

Fantastic anniversary special edition. I love that the book has been released in four versions for each of the four houses and that they are also in house colours. The extra information at the front with information about the founders of each house and other information. I love it! Bought all four versions!

Absolutely in love with this book! Only issue I’ve come across is the state of the dust cover upon delivery, scuffed all over which won’t come off, even a small discoloured mark on the back (picture 3) which is a tad annoying. The sticky mess is completely my fault for removing the sticker that was on the back, however it was a little annoying that there was a sticker there in the first place. Aside from the dust cover this book is in great condition, so I can’t complain too much. It will make a lovely addition to my collection and I can’t wait to collect the rest of the Slytherin house editions, however if the condition of the copy I have received is anything to go by I probably will not be ordering the rest from Amazon.

The quality of the things is very good, completely consistent with the description of the seller, very satisfied, really like it, completely exceeded expectations, the delivery speed is very fast, the packaging is very careful and strict, the logistics company has a good service attitude, the delivery speed is very fast. A very satisfied shopping.

Great product. But I'm soooo disappointed in Amazon UK's international shipping. I live in the US and bought both the Slytherin and Gryffindor eds. And reicieced it not even in a proper box. It was just wrapped in cardboard. The Slytherin ed was in bubble wrap, but the spine is bent so if you look at the book it appears bowed. And the Gryffindor ed was unprotected and had both page and cover damage. Clearly, these are collectors editions and I expected more care in the shipping from a company like Amazon and Bloomsbury. I've also heard of similar shipping horror stories of these books to the US. So great product. If you're a Potter fan, these editions are beautiful. But if you're international, I would expect product damage.

Bought this for an adult grandson. Do the test on Facebook and find out what house you are in...I am Ravenclaw. Quality made book. I am also ordering another ...should I say this..... for my grandson in Australia through The Book Depository, which I have heard Amazon now owns. Free postage anywhere so great for when buying to go abroad.

What is nice about the house version of the philosopher's stone is at the beginning there are a few pages which tell you about the founder of the house their qualities and the house ghost. The only slightly disappointing thing is the the whole page is not the house colour only the edge of the book.

Well designed book with drawings. Hard cover book has an elegently designed cover with the edges of the book coloured to match. Bought each house edition of the book. Haven't read them yet but can't wait. Then I will add to them to my Harry Potter collection. Harry Potter fans will love them.

Nice updated design, my son is a newcomer to the series, he really enjoyed the book, price was great and about 1/3 of what the high street retailer was charging. If you've read the originals there's no real reason to buy this. If you're a first-timer they're a nice re-release, buy the design of your favourite House

Again brought as part of a present, slytherin edition to go with the slytherin mug. these went perfectly together. Great condition upon arrival and arrived slightly before suggested due date.

Got two of the Slytherin editions, one for me and one for a friend. Just a heads up, and the only reason I'm knocking off one star, if it's you or your children's first time reading these, there is a MASSIVE... let me say that again... MASSIVE spoiler in the back of the book for Chamber of Secrets, in the Alumni section. Like, somebody driving along the front of the bookstore at midnight, while everybody is waiting in line and yelling out "X kills Y!!", MASSIVE.

Bought all 4 for a friend as a present.. She loves Harry Potter and really wanted them even though she has read the original ones.. Maybe collectors thing or Harry Potter fan.

Freak book but I’m sure series has enough funs and my encouragement to reed or is not needed. Anniversary edition looks great.
