Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - Hufflepuff Edition

I am very conflicted writing only a 3 star review on this product. I want to give it 5 stars, I really do. My family and myself are HP fans, we have a bit of memorabilia and quite a few copies of the books. My son is a self-proclaimed Hufflepuff so when I saw this book I knew he had to have it! Sure it is a bit pricey for a re-release but that is the nature of this beast. When it arrived I was pretty happy with the cover and dust jacket, they look GREAT! As another reviewer stated, the house extras are a little cheesy but its all in fun. My biggest problem is the paper quality. It is VERY thin. My son doesn't really want to actually use this book to read because he's worried about tearing the pages or crinkling them and I don't blame him. A book that costs this much should definitely be of higher quality, they dropped the ball on this part of it. Before you burn me at the stake, think of this. You can get the illustrated edition of these books for only a few dollars more. Look at the quality of the pages in those books! I really wanted to collect the full set of house books but I can't spend $18+ on this kind of sub-par quality. I feel like they are banking too much on the fact that people will just eat it up because its Harry Potter and will be willing to overlook the rest.

The 20th anniversary edition is so, so beautiful. It was well worth getting a second copy of the first book. It includes special content for the house, which made it so much more beautiful. I am more than happy with the purchase & would encourage any other HP nerd to invest in a copy!

I love this book, but it came slightly damaged, and I honestly get that because it came from far away, but I’m still disappointed. So, I’m just suggest that you buy this book with other books from the same location so that they come together in a box, which should protect the book better. Mine came in those plastic bags because I bought it by itself. So, if you want to buy this and you don’t want it slightly damaged, but it with other books from the same company.

I'm super excited about this and so happy it's finally here! It's beautiful and goes great with my collection of Harry Potter merchandise. My only complaint is that the book cover is scuffed, and it won't come off. :( I think it came like this, because it wasn't 100% properly packaged, and it probably got tossed around a bit in the mail. This is a bit disappointing, since it's a brand new item, so it should arrive looking brand new, but it's not the worst thing to happen. I still like the book & am excited to represent my house.

Great book, equally great writing. However, J.K. Rowling ought to cease and desist from speaking about matters that she has absolutely no right to speak about. It is time she stop bashing the Transgender community, and leave well enough alone. J.K. has become a self-entitled, privileged, and egocentric “Karen”, in a world of impressionable minds that once admired her. Enough is enough.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, and I have read the series many times, but this my first time reading the UK edition, which I read for comparison. The main differences between the US and UK variants are mainly the title; there are some differences in word choice and grammar, which I enjoyed. I found a few UK-isms used in this book offered some additional clarity to phrases used throughout the series compared to the US edition. This book has been a magical part of my life since the books first came out when I was ten years old. I recommend giving this book a read if you haven't already. If you are a teacher, I recommend this book for teaching as there are many SEL and literacy competencies in this book, and it also has subsequent books students may enjoy reading after your instruction

I love it. It has a very authentic feel to it and it actually says, Philosopher's Stone, which I was very happy about. Cedric, Tonks and Newt are mentioned in the back as well, which made me very happy because they're some of my favorite characters. 100% worth it. Arrived fast as well.

If you love Harry Potter and want a unique copy of the first book then this is a great choice. I got this for my wife (she is a Gryffindor but loves all things Happy Potter) and she absolutely loves this. We got all four versions and they look fantastic together.

A Harry Potter house edition book is absolutely perfect for any fan of the books and movies. The dust jacket is lovely and all the illustrations inside are beautifully detailed.

It looks amazing!! Bought it as a gift for myself for doing well during my Fall semester in college. The book looks amazing, and it is so well made! A lot of reviewers were complaining that the pages were too thin, but I personally love how the pages feel. They are a bit thinner than most books, but not as thin as religious text paper. In general, I L O VE this book and will definitely be buying the rest in the same style.

I got this as a gift for my sister and she loves it! She's a Hufflepuff, and proof that they're the best people in the world (and that's coming from a Gryffindor). I'm so glad I could get this for her. I plan on ordering the Gryffindor version for myself and maybe the other ones for different people in my life.

HUFFLEPUFF PRIDE NEVER DIE It's beautiful, not as durable feeling as the regular hardcover editions, but still awesome to have. The pages are a bit thinner, but I don't mind. Extra content is short, but still adds dimension to living in the Wizarding World.

We purchased this book for our daughter for Christmas and she was in tears by the time she was finished unwrapping her gift. She is a Harry Potter “ultimate fan” and finding items that she doesn’t already have is difficult. This edition was not in her collection and she brags about it to everyone, mainly because she has it and they don’t! Its a beautiful book, I would give it 10 stars if I could. A great gift for the Harry Potter fan that’s hard to buy for!

It came faster than expected. I already knew I was going to love it, my husband has the Gryffindor books. Just a bit sad that the dust cover is a little damaged, but better it than the actual book. Can’t wait to read it. :)

There's something truly amazing about these special editions. Extra classy with a dash of super coolness. I love the extra information at the front - such a nice way to enhance the novel! I definitely wish there were more illustrations but ah well, that's what the fully illustrated bedroom is for.

I loved sprayed edges and despite some saying this came damaged or scuffed this edition is gorgeous! It was well worth buying and, when I found my mailbox having been taken over by ants trying to nest and then the box itself! (I thought the book was ruined!) The book came wrapped in protective foam!!! IT SAVED MY BOOK! This came in fantastic condition and now I get to enjoy this edition even more. :)

I’m so excited to read my copy of the original Harry Potter text. This is indeed the UK version with Dumbledore offering McGonagall sherbet lemon instead of a lemon drop. I only wish there would have been stiff card board or something on the bubble package to protect the corners during its 10 day trip.

English edition is awesome for those of us in the US. Found these in London, and got home and ordered another one for our son's 11 year old friends birthday! Unique gift from the UK, and not the generic 20th anniversary edition sold in the states.

Had to return the first one because it was ripped, but the second one is beautiful and I love it! Wouldn't suggest if you want it really soon as it took a couple weeks to get here, but well worth it in the end.

I bought this as a gift for my "Potter-head" girlfriend. She loves it. The extra attention to detail and quality of materials of this release really carries it a long way. There's some lore about Ravenclaw in the beginning, and the art work is real nice, the story is otherwise the same. Great gift for the bookworm/nerd in your life.

Harry Potter is awesome, there's no doubt about it and these editions just increased its magic. A great opportunity to reread this story that stays with people no matter what and an amazing way to learn more about your house and display your house colours with pride!

Despite already having this book in my collection of books, my daughters are finally getting into Harry Potter books after having watched only watched the films. They have both been spending their time on the Pottermore website and taken the test to find out which house they were part of. So what better than to buy them the first book in their house colours?! They both love their new books and I have to admit that the books look strikingly good in their respective colours. Now I have to contend with the inevitable “My book colour is better than yours!” 🙄 Hopefully they will continue to publish the other Potter books in the same colours. I pre-ordered this as soon as I saw it and received my copy today after waiting for ages and it was well worth the wait. It is so beautiful and has loads of extra bits about the house. This is one proud and happy Hufflepuff

Very nicely presented. I'll get my only complaint out of the way first: The information in the "Famous Hufflepuff Alumni" and "Memorable Hufflepuff Students" sections is mainly a re-hash of character info that's easily gleaned from reading the books themselves. That being said, there are plenty of positives: The illustrations of Helga Hufflepuff and Pomona Sprout are beautiful, and pretty close to how I always imagined them (minus the patches on Sprout's hat); The House Ghost illustrations on the back covers of all four versions are a really nice touch; I love that each house version has the primary house colour sprayed on the page edges (visible when the book is closed). My book did come with an annoying "20 years" stickers on the front cover, but I was able to remove it without too much difficulty. Some very delicately applied white spirit took care of the residue (plus a careful sponging to get rid of the white spirit itself). Due to the finish, it was harder to remove the wretched sticker from this paperback version than it was to remove it from the dust jacket of the corresponding hardback. I fervently wish for an end to this fad of putting crappy stickers on beautiful things! Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, and at the time of writing this review, it's quite the bargain. So, I'm glad I snapped it up. (My four-star review applies to this specific edition btw. The novel itself gets five stars).

It's hard to believe that it's been 20 years since the initial release of 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'. As someone who has grown up reading about and adoring the world that J.K. Rowling has so intricately created over a span of nearly two decades, I have to admit that I have escaped to Hogwarts more than once to join Harry, Ron and Hermione on their adventures and in their quest to defeat You-Know-Who. This year, on Harry's birthday, I am planning to re-read the series from start to finish and upon inspecting my copy of Philosopher's Stone, I discovered that over the space of twenty years the binding had become battered and the pages were fragile. Well, it's a much loved book! As a proud Hufflepuff I decided to purchase the special 20th anniversary edition of the book and I cannot be more pleased with my purchase and here's why: Firstly, the book itself is stunning. The artwork on the sleeve is beautiful and the fact that the edges of the pages are decorated in the Hufflepuff colours of black and yellow is a lovely touch. Looking at the book, you can tell that a lot of thought and effort has gone in to making the 20th anniversary collection something worth owning. Upon opening the book, you are greeted by a table of contents. J.K. Rowling has provided exclusive information that was only available on Pottermore for readers about the house, including; an introduction to the house including character quotes and key characters in the history of the house, information about the founder of the house (Helga Hufflepuff, in my case), the house relic (Gryffindor's Sword, Hufflepuff's Cup, Ravenclaw's Diadem and Slytherin's Locket respectively), the house mascot or livery and the house ghost. After you have completed the first section of information about the house you are greeted by a Tolkien-esque sketch of the Hogwarts grounds. This fangirl's heart skipped a beat when she saw that! Before I get on to the story itself, I would like to mention that at the back of the book there is further information about Hogwarts and the house you selected. There is information about the sorting ceremony, a quiz, a thorough description of the common room, information about the head of the house and famous alumni – in the case of Hufflepuff this includes Tonks and Newt Scamander. The story of Philosopher's Stone appears to be exactly as I remember it with only aesthetic changes to things like notes and letters between characters – these now appear to be handwritten by the characters rather than the centralised/italicised style in my older copy of the book. There are also stars now embellishing the tops of title pages for chapters. Not a massive change to the actual book but enough to make me sit up and take notice. So is it worth investing in a new copy of Philosopher's Stone? In my opinion, yes, especially if your original copy is as old and as beaten up as mine is. There is also a lot of information in there about the houses that I imagine many people won't know, especially about the major houses – Gryffindor and Slytherin. Plus it looks beautiful on a bookshelf, so why not pick it up? It's a perfect purchase for any Potterhead!

I don't think I've ever opened a package so quickly! It's stunning, the details within are bewitching and I will have a lovely time sitting down and reading philosophers stone again in my hufflepuff uniform with my wand in hand, let the adventure begin again!!!

The extra information at the front with information about the founders of each house and other information. I love it! Bought all four versions!

Any Harry Potter fan is sure to love these house themed copies! The book also comes with extra content such as famous people from your house and a Hogwarts quiz. Certain parts of the book have different fonts too which make this a little more jazzed up than the original copy. A must for any Potter fan wanting to display their house pride!

What is nice about the house version of the philosopher's stone is at the beginning there are a few pages which tell you about the founder of the house their qualities and the house ghost. The only slightly disappointing thing is the the whole page is not the house colour only the edge of the book.

What's not to love about the Harry Potter series of books! As a true Hufflepuff I immediately fell in love with this copy! A smattering of history in the opening pages as a bonus, and a beautifully bound edition of the original book! I am so enjoying revisiting Hogwarts and being reacquainted with all my friends from the magical (and muggle) world!

Bought this for a friend. He loves it. Has infomation about the house, such as history and honorable members of the house. Also there is a quiz in the back to test your knowledge. I think it changes slightly for each version as I bought the Slytherin version for another person. If you or anyone you know likes Harry Potter, they'll love this

The book is the start of an awesome series. Nothing I can say as it’s the same book just that the colour was awesome and yellow is my favourite colour so what else can I say lol

OK so we all know the story by now, at least we should do! I've already got the complete set in hardback and on my kindle but couldn't resist getting these special additions, and while my official Hogwarts house is Gryffindor I felt the need to get all 4! So I did!

I may have bought all of the books for my collection but I could only review the Hufflepuff one! 😄 They have some little extra content about the houses and are a must for any collector. Great price as well.

Unlike all the other houses yellow actually works perfectly with black! Extremely jealous of all the Hufflepuffs (got it for my brother) because I cannot read my Gryffindor spine very well🙁very well done

Lovely little book. I have the hardback version and love it, so I bought this one for my daughter. The same innards, with a different cover (I'm tempted to collect them all now, actually). Really lovely collectable.

The lack of stars in no way represents the book itself as this is fantastic!! I am just very disappointed with the quality. The book pages are fine but the special edition cover (which is the reason the book was purchased) is scratched, scuffed and dented not what I expected from amazon.

I like the illustrations on the inside but was dissapointed that the cover print is on a loose paper one and not on the hardback itself
