Great inspiration for getting back in the race when life knocks the poo out of ya.
After being knocked off my feet by a nasty divorce and a whole a string of unpleasant circumstances and events, I had pretty much resolved to bury myself in the bottom of an ice cream box and stay that way indefinetly. A family member recognized my state of mind and gave me a list of 5 books that he made me promise to read. This one was spoke to me the loudest, and helped give me the oomph I needed to abandon my ice cream boxes and stretch pants and get back in the fight. It's a small book that is easy and quick to read. If you know someone who is down on their luck and struggling to get back up after a few knock downs, get them this book!
Just what I needed to read while trying to cope with a huge failure
I'm struggling to accept a [huge] failure in my life right now. It's the sort of failure you can hide from no one - including yourself. This reality seems relentlessly in my face. I found myself in a mental loop of being preoccupied with my embarrassment, frustration, anger and self-recriminations such that I was mired in the mess. It had become my quicksand. I wasn't moving forward at all. As I've said before, a book can never solve your problems, but sometimes a book can give you just the right ingredient you need in order to help yourself. Helping yourself might be finding peace, acceptance, perspective, getting the right kind of literary pep talk, or realizing that you are not the only person to have ever gone through whatever it is you're experiencing. Books CAN help you heal. Failing Forward has helped me get my life, experiences and failure(s) into perspective. I hate to use corny line, but in my lingering battle to decide whether I was going to be powerful or pitiful…Failing Forward helped nudge me into the decision to stand up from my pitiful place on the floor and strive to be powerful.
Are you ready?
If you are going through a struggle and trying to see the light, get this book now! It is a mental game changer for taking control of your life and actions and turning what you perceive as a failure into a stepping stone to success. A personal development must have, this is an excellent book for anyone looking to change their situation and learn to take accountability and learn to move forward. It will get you inspired and taking notes, have a highlighter handy and be ready to change your life!
Great, really great
I usually don't post reviews of books but since my kindle came to this page after turning the last page I will leave a few words. It's amazing how many people described by Maxwell have had missteps in achieving success. Saying it was inspirational would be an understatement. When failure hits, and it will hit, it can sometimes seem daunting and hopeless. What this book suggests is that this is where success happens. You take the failure, learn from it, and then get over it. Getting caught in the pity parade will only work to hold you back. The fresh look on failure as provided by Maxwell was one that I've never seen before. He's forthright in the presentation of the evidence of why it benefits you to fail forward. I know I'll be reading this book again a bit more closely as to understand in fine details of how not to be trapped by failure. This book should be required reading in just about any educational setting as the concepts that are presented are so applicable to modern life today. You're reading this review for a reason. Buy the book in whatever format you desire, but read it with an open mind and prepare to be enlightened.
Major publishing error
This book has a major publishing error. As you can see in the photos the book takes a complete turn and goes into a novel from a different author. Kristin Hannah “Fly Away”. Pages 117-148 is in no way a part of this book.
I needed to read this.
I recently went through some transitions in my life and just wanted to read something inspirational. We all fail in our lives and some of us don't know how to recover from it. This book does a good job of showing you how to fail forward. The author gives a lot of stories and examples to show why it isn't good to give up after failing. Definitely recommend this book to people who don't want to take chances or fearful of failure.
Want to hone your skills in the realm of taking a Leadership role in Your own Life?
I began reading this book wondering why a mentor of mine suggested that I read it in the first place. I began the first few pages with the attitude of "yeah, yeah, yeah...I know all this stuff already...my Mentor obviously has no clue who I am." I kept reading, then the note taking began...big-time. Hahaha...oh the humility I thought I possessed. We have all heard the cliches before. The ones like, "we learn from our mistakes", etc. Yet, do you have an action plan in place for truly learning and moving forward? I didn't, but I do now. "Failing Forward" is not a collection of simple-minded cliches that only people in woo-woo land will relate to. "Failing Forward" is a fantastic read, which if you have the courage to admit your own failures in Life...and you have them...then this book will assist you focus on the benefits of failures, moving along a path to ultimate success in your endeavors. Just remember this...you must be willing to accept responsibility for your own actions and take ownership of your failures...meaning, stop blaming others. If you insist on partying it up at the local "Look at what Life has done to me" ale house, then don't bother reading this book, you are too weak to handle reality. On the other hand, if you wish to hone your skills in the realm of taking a Leadership role in your own path of Life, then buy this book...it is a must read. I'm giving this book 5 stars because of the actions I am taking along my Life path from reading "Failing Forward"...yeah, it has had a sustained impact. Oh, and I'm giving the Mentor who told me to read the book five stars as well. Good call, Chris.
Lots of stories to reference
I've read a number of books by the author. This one is one of the most useful and practical books he's written, in my opinion. As an educator, I see students (and adults) who don't know how to process failures well. I've used many stories in this book to encourage such individuals, including recommending this book to them. Hey, I get no referral fees, so don't get me wrong--I'm not into promoting products. But, I think this book belongs on everyone's shelf.
Another great Maxwell book
This book has an abundance of useful knowledge. I am a retail manager at an American home improvement chain. I sought this book out to help deal with the myriad of challenges I see daily. They can be many but most often center around my fear of failure, and how I deal with criticism. There haven't been many times where I can work through these issues without some kind of tool. Failing forward is this tool. Maxwell wraps up failing forward in 15 principles that are followed like a map through out the book. They are followed in numerical order and build as the book goes on. So, if you're on chapter 5, you review the principles 1-5 at the end of chapter 5, make sense? The kindle version has a TON of editorial errors that made me nuts. These only apply to the Kindle edition. If you're a stickler for editing by pass the Kindle version and stick with the paperback.
Remarkable read
Game changer for me after seeing some hard failure from my most recent venture. If you are an entrepreneur feeling down and out on your luck, this is a MUST READ. Honestly, it changed my entire perspective and supplied necessary healing to some depression bound feelings. Highly recommend.

A must have in your library!
I love this book! I listened to the audio on YouTube and STILL purchased the book!! So many nuggets. I’m even giving to my 14 year old to read! Start early!!
Failure is Your Stepping Stone to Success!
John C. Maxwell brings a gift to all who have ever felt like a "failure" by the extraordinary examples of some of the greatest people that have achieved outstanding success, only to attribute that to their prior so-called "failures." This book will help you USE the lessons you can learn from your experience. One of the most important aspects of this book is to NOT PERSONALIZE the experience, and take it into the core of your being, The KEY is to take "you" out of the failure, and look at it as another outward experience that will teach you much. It is most often that our deepest struggles are the very foundations for our greatest growths and triumphs. This book sets a model of clean ethics, taking responsibility, being PASSIONATE about what you are doing, because without passion, you might as well just stop - because passion is the driving force behind every success. If you have been through the mill, and want to really be inspired about your experiences from some of the greatest people who have brought inspiration to others, then this book will give that to you. An excellent book for turning failure into genuine success. 10 Stars! Failing Forward John C Maxwell
This is a great book and has taught me a different perspective about failure. I tended to avoid failure by planning and making sure that I avoid mistakes. With John Maxwell book I am now confident that failure is the way to go if you want to reap the benefits of success.
Honest Review from an Human Resources Student
Being a senior in college I would recommend definitely giving this a read. There are so many times that you feel like you are heading down the wrong path toward your future. You feel like that one bad interview was the end of the road and you are doomed for any kind career in the future. Well, those were my exact thoughts and this book completely changed my way of thinking. If you are able to learn from the mistakes that everyone in this world will inevitably incur then you can step back and change the way you fail. See the mistakes that you make along the way enable to you make better adjustments next time. I did get a little dry at some points in the middle, but overall it was a great read for anyone about to graduate.
Magnificent Maxwell!
I've read several books by John Maxwell, each one of which has been excellent. This latest read is no exception. Maxwell offers 15 steps here of how to make the best of failure. He emphasizes early in his work that the cardinal principle underlying all of these steps -- one must refuse to think of himself as a failure even though he may fail repeatedly. Using the failures of notable, successful personalities, Maxwell illustrates each one of his steps. Among the most well-known personalities are: Mary Kay, Truett Cathy, Erma Bombeck, the Wright Brothers, Arnold Palmer, and R.H. Macy. Throughout the book the author is entertaining and easy-to-read, yet profound and thought-provoking. Anyone in leadership will be a better leader for having read this title. "Everything rises and falls on leadership," Maxwell says in another one of his works, and there is nothing like responding properly to failure to refine it. With this book the author has proven once again his leadership expertise, expertise that pays both sacred and secular dividends.
An easy read, surprisingly thought-provoking
I was a little skeptical when I started this book, thinking it might be too corny, but I liked this book more than not. It was a soft easy read, good for when you are at an airport or on a subway. And it served as a bit of a gentle kick in the butt for me after a couple of rough weeks at work. The examples of the colossal failures and set backs of people such as Handel, the guy who came up with New Coke, St. Paul the Apostle, Mary Kay, and others were very interesting. But at times it was too cliche and simplistic ("When you make mistakes, don't let them get you down."), but often they resonated with me ("Failure is simply a price we pay to achieve success."). I especially liked the stories, examples, and ancient quotations. The middle chapters were too corny, with overly simplistic exercises. The later chapters were back on track, but the steps to achieve success started to become repetitive. I think I would recommend this for both young adults struggling with their first academic or work set backs AND experienced and jaded workers who need a reminder that set backs and failures often preceed success if you find a way to readjust your attitude and get back in the game. PS, reading this book prompted me to re-read Viktor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning."
Awesome!!
I read this book as additional reading assignment in one of my HR Management classes at the University of Georgia. I have read a couple other books by Maxwell and this certainly ranks up there with one of his best. So often in college I feel like students think they have to have their whole lives figured out by the time they graduate. This book brought a helpful perspective to the reality that we often have to step out in the midst of uncertainty and take a risk. As a result, our fear is reduced by simply taking action. As we learn to turn our mistakes into platforms to boost success, we gain a clearer picture of our skills, abilities, and passions. This book also helped me get an inside look at real life stories of those who experienced massive failure before they were successful. It seems like they were actually successful not in spite of their failure but because of them! I would say this is a must for business and nonbusiness students alike.
Fantastic Read from John Maxwell!
Another good book from John Maxwell. This was the first one I ever read, and the contents in the book, will make you have many "aha" moments while reading through it. I would recommend to everyone on how to bounce back from mistakes.
Thought Provoking
Regardless of what stage you are in life there will always come a moment of difficulty. This book teaches you not only that failing is normal, but necessary to grow successfully. It’s not a matter of if you’ll fail at something, but when you do how to Fail Forward. Excellent book.
It's so funny when the pupil is ready the teacher will come. Thats not a understatement.
I'm a 45 yr old African American Man, sometimes I feel like I'm sitting in the midst of a great unseen war. I promise you at first the more you focus on staying positive the more you will experience the negative behaviors, and whims of others. The more you try to create success in your life, the more obstacles you will face. If you are reading this you must understand like others I didn't think I had a mentality of being a victim, or so thought. Now that way of thinking, and believing is becoming, starting to become my past. I'm still around some of those very same people, but one thing I've learned was that I had to rethink, and relearn how my very own thinking was affecting me, and those I'm around. My past is full of so many failures, and feeling like a failure I couldn't or wouldn't focus on my many successes I also had in my past. Sometimes people try to get me to buy into so many lies that I'm to old to accomplish anything new that makes me feel happy, and wonderful about myself. It's so funny when the pupil is ready the teacher will come. I've been changing all my life, like so many I've had my heartaches and pain. One day it clicked, this is so honest once I began to change my thinking, spiritual things started sparking in my life. I'm just now starting to put it altogether. I always try to focus on what life - God is trying to teach me, show me so I can be a better person - live a more rewarding life. I've learned what people say about failure is not always true, theres always a lesson to be learned. I have this little saying it's not new - when you fall fight to get up so you can fall again. It's funny that I came across this book about failure - just when I was going to believe maybe everyone is right my dreams might just be to far reaching. I wasn't going to buy this book, buy the grace of God I'm glad I did. .
Honest Review From An HR Student
As a senior about to graduate from college next spring, I wish I would have read this book sooner. Over and over again, I have experienced the situation of turning mistakes into failures. I have thought that not doing well on a test, not having enough money to pay rent the next month, or simply not being able to go to class some days because of anxiety meant that I was failing at life. This book has taught me that I should learn from the small stumbles, as they are way more common than the success I will experience. After reading this book, I learned that I need to prepare myself for the failures in life and not just success, this way I can take on the obstacles and still make it through. This goes for all my current endeavors in school, as well as my future advancements to being hired into a career and facing adulthood after college.
Change your mindset
Excellent book!!! If you really want to be a different person and looking to change the way you look at things, particularly negative. Then read this and action the information
An oasis in the desert
Many books--most books--are about rousing successes and give only a passing nod at failure along the way. Here's a book dealing with the inevitable reality of any leader: failure. If you're going to do something, you're going to fail at something. The counsel of this book gives you the tools to get up, brush off, learn, and engage again.
A motivating and inspiring message for overcoming failure and becoming successful
Failing Forward is a motivating and inspiring book that will change how you perceive failure. Maxwell's message explains how everyone experiences failure in one form or another, but it is your perception and response to failure that matters. Failure can be viewed as an obstacle that stops you from reaching your goals, or it can be viewed as an opportunity to learn and grow from in order to achieve your dreams. Maxwell does an incredible job explaining the steps for failing forward, but I felt that I could not relate to a few of the stories that he used. Regardless, his overall message of being persistent and optimistic when facing failure is a life lesson for any student or worker trying to be successful and reach their dreams.
Making Progress is Failing Forward
What a great way to wrap up 2015 for me by reading Dr. John Maxwell's book on Failing Forward. 2015 was a challenging year wrapping up a very difficult development project and starting some great new projects using the lessons learned. Dr. John Maxwell not only encourages me, but peels back the lessons learned from failures into actionable items that can be carried forward. For anyone who is an entrepreneur, in businesses, or in relationships this is a MUST read. William Teh Investor | Author | Entrepreneur
Great Book that Deals With An Aspect Of Life That No One Likes To Discuss!
After 5 years of pouring my heart, soul, reputation, and everything else into launching a niche consumer product concept, the sagging economy just wouldn't sustain it anymore so I had to make the hard decision to chalk it up to experience. Naturally, I felt like a huge failure after a long career of succeeding in everything else I'd done. I read John Maxwell's book cover-to-cover and it helped me to put everything I'd worked so hard at into a more positive perspective. He rightly points out that 'failure' is a part of life, but that no one teaches us how to deal with it and rebound from it. In fact, we're trained to mark ourselves with this hideous label - which only serves to undermine our future potential. Mr. Maxwell helps the reader adjust their attitude toward failure to see it as a great learning experience, and makes the important point that those who don't fail aren't taking risks, and aren't challenging themselves or learning new things. Those who DO take on new challenges and risks are bound to 'fail' before they hit on a winner, so those who 'fail' also tend to be leaders. Without trying new things and failing, we wouldn't have progress and innovation. Thank you, Mr. Maxwell for sharing this perspective and dealing with a subject that no one wants to think about.
A reversal of the typical
Mr Maxwell is nothing if not prolific in writing about leadership. This book is arguably one of his most important, not for what it says about leadership, but rather one of the most critical culture setting behaviors a leader can practice. How do we turn a mistake into a learning opportunity rather than a failure doomed to be repeated. I liked this book for its step by step approach to addressing mistakes and turning them into positive learning outcomes. this is a typical Maxwell effort lots of quotes and easy reading with a simple formula. This is a must read for those of us who like to beat ourselves up for our last mistake. And remember: Forgive yourself for making a mistake, get over it and learn from it!
The basic idea of the book is that success is ...
The basic idea of the book is that success is something you must work at and that failure is nothing more than an opportunity to learn and grow from. It gives several inspiring stories of successful people who had overcome huge obstacles as well as insights into what holds us back in terms of our way of thinking. I bought the cd a year ago to listen to the car and it still keeps me motivated and inspired.
Really Enjoyed my 1st Maxwell Book
After hearing a lot of quotes from the author I have been intrigued to read one of his books and I am extremely glad I chose this one. I never viewed Failure as a good thing before a and spent most of my life avoiding it. Now I know I should embrace it and if I am not regularly experiencing it then I am not trying hard enough. I highly recommend this read.
Great book!!
This book is awesome to read over and over again if you feel like giving up. Everyone goes through it. Really great read.
Must read!
I may buy a physical copy or two to quickly go back to our give to others. I wish I had this as a teenager!
Failing Forward - Truly enjoying this book so far
I'm truly enjoying reading this book thus far... For me many of the items presented are known and make sense; however, hearing them again in different light, examples, etc... refreshes, reinforces and helps me to implement and practic once again. There's something about hearing how others have made it through " difficult " times and situations that encourages one to continue and do the same... Stuff happens and you simply have to press on... The book was very inexpensive and if you're reading this post, then i'd suggest if you have the time, get the book, read, you will have lost nothing but time at most.
Life saving!
An incredible book that has changed my life. My only regret is not reading this in my teens. Thank you John!
Failing Forward
GAME CHANGER BOOK!!! Absolutely hands down the best book I've ever read and came at the perfect time. I'm in a space of 2009 was my "failing forward" period 2010 was awareness to the path I was on and 2011 NEW BEGINNING! I loved the book because it gave me permission to let go of the past, accept and appreciate what has been done and how to make an amazing comeback. I also stopped beating myself up so much on the things I thought were huge failures and now just see them being amazing stepping stones into the person I will become. Thank you John Maxwell!!!
This book is transforming!
I am a big fan of John Maxwell. I virtually have every book and recently acquired this one. I was afraid of failure, it had me paralyzed a good part of my life. I was told every day as a child that I was a loser and couldn't do anything but fail and so I made those dreams come true! Now I now it is ok and even good to fail to teach us lessons in life and and to give us growth and motivation. I now plan to fail (not intentionally) to know it is ok and to push myself into achieving height's I never knew of until now. Next to the Bible this is my next favorite book! Nate B.
Inspiring
Inspiring book! Not sure if it was just because of the electronic version or what but there were some sentences/portions of book cut off.
Helpful, relevant content
The Kindle translation of this book leaves out key phrases. Get the physical book instead. The complete content is worth it.
It's a good and somewhat interesting read
I give it 3 out of 5 stars. It's a good and somewhat interesting read. The author quotes a lot of interesting people who you would know by name. In a way this is sort of a self-help style of book and I've never been a huge fan of those ....some, but not all. Would I recommend it? Sure, why not. For the Kindle price and ease of download I would say it a good book to have. You might even learn something about yourself. :)
Power of failure
It’s time to change the view of failure! One of the most powerful learning experiences in existence! It’s why we should never quit
Love it and can’t recommend it highly enough
John Maxwell hit it out of the park. Pragmatic and powerfully well written. Love it and can’t recommend it highly enough. Great is over used, but when it comes to this book. It’s great.
I love this book and truly believe everyone should read it
I love this book and truly believe everyone should read it. I have a copy and bought two more for my daughters who are 25 and 19. They arrived on time and in great condition. Take my word for it . . .get this book!
This was a great book with lots of anecdotes of how many successful ...
This was a great book with lots of anecdotes of how many successful people haven't let their failures define or hinder them. My only issue with the book was that the author seemed to name drop a lot and talked about his own company a bit too much, which given his career history and why he founded the company, had me thinking the book was always going to take an evangelical tone. It didn't, but that undertone was always there a little bit.
Wonderful book.
Amazing book by an amazing author, arrived in great condition!
Seller honestly states condition of books
The condition is perfect. No marks inside or outside. Cover is also in excellent condition.
Wonderful Book
I ordered this book to give to a young friend who had failed a couple of college courses and was facing academic probation. Maxwell's book deals with the lessons learned by failure and overcoming the obstacles to obtain success. It's truly a wonderful book.
Must Read!
This book should be required reading for everyone from young teens to older adults, great book!
" book is a great addition to my library of books on Alcoholism
This "Falling Forward......." book is a great addition to my library of books on Alcoholism.
Don't give up!
Very motivational! Makes you want to do better!
more of the same
If you going to start to read this book, good luck finishing it. It does have some sense, but as any motivational or self help book, the fuel will last you a few weeks. I have read plenty of self help books, the only two books that were "life changing" and permanent for my were: "How to win friends and influence people" and "What to say when you talk to yourself".
It is very easy to read and has a lot of useful information ...
I think that this book is very meaningful for everyone facing difficult challenges in their career. It is very easy to read and has a lot of useful information about turning failure into success. Maxwell provides a detailed list of steps to take in order to fail forward. He gave many real life stories of people who encountered failure but later on found success in their career, such as Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-a. In order to succeed in a career, a person has to be very hard working, goal-oriented, motivated, possess the right attitude in dealing with adversity and be accountable for their own mistakes.
Awesome, book
Great book to read highly recommended it!!!!! Awesome author he makes it easy to understand what he is talking about. Defiantly going to read more of his books!!!!
Great read
if you don't fail you will not succeed, this book teaches you this very much needed mindset.
Fantastic
Very unsightly interactive and helps so much with perspective. I would highly recommend this book to friends and family members
Mistake Free
Some of the greatest contributions in life have come from people who have made mistakes. Obtaining anything worthwhile Will require risk. Mistakes are the foundation of their success. Failure is not final--unless you quit! Failure is just one necessary component of achievement!! Babe Ruth used to hold the record for hitting the most home runs but he still holds the record of Striking out the Most!! The results are in the mistakes!!
Perfect
Perfect
OK but not great
Some good thoughts but not much new here. It felt a bit like being preached to. There was nothing about how to deal with the negative emotions we, ourselves, might feel or those of others resulting from failure. I was hoping for a more in depth discussion of how to develop resilience.
Just what I needed...
This books fills in so many gaps in learning to deal with failure. It starts with basic ideas that bloom into concepts I didn't realize I needed to revisit. I now feel more confident in how I fail, and I will always try to fail forward.

Great encouraging read
This a great book for anyone truly committed to failing forwards that with each fail you learn to succeed with your ventures.
If you are able to learn something from making a mistake,
This book isn't only for someone who has recently experienced what they perceive to be a major failure, it is valuable for the person who has never made a mistake and for the person who is already successful but is looking for ways to improve. A mistake has value, if it is viewed as a learning opportunity, rather than something to avoid at all costs. This is a valuable and practical book for anyone with a desire to accomplish more.
Uplifting book..
I read it, whenever I feel down. Has a good collection of quotes and real life stories to help anyone get back up and get into the game again
MUST READ
Everyone should read this book over and over since we all have failed at one point or another
Failing Forward: Turning Mistakes Into Stepping... John C. Maxwell
Enjoyable and inspirational read by John C. Maxwell. Everyone should be informed on the story of Walt Disney. This particular book"Failing Forward" has inspired me to continue on living.
Great read!
This is a great read! I speaks to everyone who experiences life. I deff. recommend this book to everyone! I couldn’t put it down! - Patrick
A truly excellent book
This book is an easy and great read. Whether you have recently experience a minor or major set back on your road to a lofty goal or you are about to set out on the journey toward one, this is the book you will want to read. The author does a great job using examples and relating his points in an easily understood format and he shows you how some (all) of the most successful and wealthy people in the world experienced some gut wrenching failures along the way. I had been looking for a great book about moving ahead and putting failure behind me and this hit the mark.
Great read, but who is the proof reader???
Great read. Maxwell did his research and put together a string of real life examples that can tie the concept of "Failing Forward" together. I'll read it again. My only suggestion for improvement is a better editing job. I got the Kindle version and honestly lost count of the amount of typos and sentences that had no ending.
Change your life in a positive way!
This book will change your life, even if you’re not a business owner. I cried and thought alot of my life and looking forward to life now.
Amazing Book
I own a copy that I have lent out many times, I have bought this book as a gift, and this was to replace the book that I either let someone borrow or cannot find. My husband and son are reading it together. If you have a fear of failure or let failure get you down, read this book! Lots of wonderful lessons to get from this book. I know that it changed my outlook, hoping to have the same affect for our son.
Stop fearing failure!
Any leader should read this book! If you read one book this year make it this one.
Worh buying
Just finished reading it! Changed my mindset!
Good but not great...
Bah...another "positive thinking book", but it never hurts to be reminded and since I'm a big John Maxwell fan, I'll give him the benefit of a doubt on this one. Good, but not great and nothing I haven't seen or heard in similar "positive thinking" books.
Great book, but...
Fantastic material from Mr. Maxwell as always ! I just wish more care was taken to ensure typos and other errors were corrected (at least in the electronic version). Nonetheless, I highly recommend this book to everyone.
This Book Delivers!!!
John Maxwell always delivers sound, real, no nonsense and very practical concepts, principles and perspectives. No fluff, no stuff, no "magical formulas" or pop psychology. This book contains the real, practical and down-n-dirty truths about the "other side" of failure that most of us never see and therefore often never transcend its negative effects in our lives. Read this book, discipline yourself to think like and do as it says, do it consistently with determination and you WILL get results. I have and still continue to do so and on ever-increasing levels. I have been an under-achieving under dog most all of my life and, with regard to triumph over failure and mistakes, this book did it for me.

The Failing Journey
We all make mistakes. Some more than others. I use to use my zeal to overcome failures. This book has helped me to develop a strategy for failing/success.

Maxwell Does it Again!
I absolutely loved this book. It talks in depth about different business entrepreneurs who have had to fail in order to get ahead. This is life, but it really brings home that failing IS OKAY and it actually pushes us forward. Recommend for anyone building their own business.
One of the Best Books
This book is on my Top 10 list. I read it once a year and now I'm buying copies to give as gift.
Amazing Read
One of the most inspiring books I have ever read, filled with true stories of the early failures of many successful people and businesses that we know today. If you're tired of feeling like a failure and thinking about giving up, I highly recommend picking up this book and giving it another shot. I know I sure will now that I've finished reading it!

You can't have opportunity without opposition, transition without trouble, or change without chaos. You can fail forward or backward. Excellent book. Great advice for leaders today on embracing failure and moving forward. Invaluable advice for the youth of America. Can't wait to read more of his books.

Amazing book!!
So great! Very clearly states the importance of have a wonderful perspective to learn from failures. Breaks it down in 15 simple steps to learn from failures
Just What I Needed!
Perfect for any age. I wish it had been around when I was younger. Failure and rejection is never easy. But failing isn't the end. It's just a stepping stone. Great points here and I loved the examples given of people with the odds stacked against them that went on to succeed. And in a big way! Highly recommend!!
Practical
This is a practitioner's book. It shows that failure is inevitable but a good failure is one that moves an organization forward. Maxwell is known for his business books on many leadership topic; and while this one is not focused on leadership, it can be seen as a leader's MGT 101 when failure occurs. It is a good book.
Don't buy this edition!!!!
The book is great and definitely worth the read but this edition has so many typos and problems it drove me crazy!! I found that starting my day with reading a bit was inspiring and motivating though. Happy I bought it and happy I read it. I just wish they had done a better job proofing it!
Love this book
Love this book. We all make mistakes in life but it encouraged me and helped me to realize that what I feel is a mistake is designed to help me progress in life. Highly recommend this book to EVERYONE!
A read for every Business person
Wow, to put a positive perspective on failing. It's a must, it's a need to move forward and succeed. I loved reading about very influential people who made many wrong decisions before the right ones made their dreams happen. Everyone can learn from this book.
Success is on the other side
Very practical, nice inspiring stories, extremely motivational. Deserves a second and a third read to internalize the action plan. Great book! Heads up!

Get it
As a chaplain, i recommend this book often and know the value of its message personally. Life is a series of learning opportunities. The message of this book would benefit students specifically in alternative programs at school that have made poor choices.
Review
Book was in good condition for a used book, nothing wrong with it physically just wasnt a good read for me
To be successful, we must double our failure rate
I read and listen to numerous self development materials on a daily basis, as is necessary to run a successful business. Not only was this item priced lower than anywhere else I could find in my hours of research, but the supplier quickly shipped the item to me and the audio book saved me a lot of time. This audio book will help you understand the true method to success = failure. Don't be afraid to fail, everyone who is more successful (in however you see it) than you b/c they simply failed more, improved in the right direction, and never quit (the true meaning of failure).
Five Stars
Great lots of encouragement

Change Your Life
Each of us fails multiple times a day ... Sometimes little thing - sometimes life altering. Sometimes due to a personal decision - sometimes due to consequences. Regardless of the source, this book encourages each person to be accountable and responsible. Learn from your mistakes and failures ... In fact run through them, learn from them and keep moving forward. And remember ... It's not about you!

This book is designed to bring you a fresh new perspective on "FAILURE" and the important role it plays as the foundation which your "SUCCESSES" stand upon!!!
Great Encouragement
This is probably my favorite book by John Maxwell. I have always been afraid of failing, so I have been very encouraged by the numerous stories he shares about people who have failed forward in business and life. And now I plan on failing forward too.
Success requires failure!
It's easy to look at a successful person and claim that they just "got lucky". It's not until the facts are laid out that you realize the success that person has achieved has come after much perseverance. It is easier to follow the crowd, but they aren't successful! John Maxwell always delivers helpful advice in an easy to apply method. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to make a change in their lives.
Great book, has lots of insight I read this ...
Great book, has lots of insight I read this book for a business leadership class, and can say it provides a lot of insight about failure, how to recover and learn from it.
OK book, but....
Most of the real content of the book was covered in the first part, and afterward it just got repetitive. The message is good and clear, but the author seems to make a point of name-dropping more than is necessary. It would have been nice to have a few stories of regular people and not the super-successful.
Good read!
Absolutely good read by John C. Maxwell
Excellent
Easy read. Very uplifting
I really enjoyed this read
I really enjoyed this read. I figured that it would be regurgitated information about learning from mistakes but I was very wrong. Very simple, yet potent ideas are backed up with inspiring true stories. This book definitely shaped the way that I perceive failure and success. I would recommend this to anyone, especially to those early in their career. -JS

Don't wait until you fail to read this
This is one of the best books I've ever read - and I've read a lot. It's incredibly encouraging and inspiring. It shows how many times big-name people failed before making it big. Don't wait until you fail to read this book. Read it now.
The key to succeeding is embracing failure!
This is the second time I've read this book (it's been a few years) and most of it seemed all new to me. It's a must read for those of us who are determined to succeed in life instead of allowing life to knock us down and leave us there. Maxwell has yet to disappoint me in any of his books. Highly recommend this book and him as an author overall.
Incredible book
A book full of pearls to those who dream big and are scared to move forward. Now it’s time to go forth!!
Very good, but lenghty
I have to confess that I have not finished this book. I am about half way through, but decided to rate it now. The material is very good and very inspiring. The real life examples are encouraging. Mr. Maxwell uses thorough coverage to provoke your thinking. I would have given the book 5 stars, but I find that I am bogged down now with some material that is getting a bit tedious and perhaps a little repetitious. Keep in mind that the rating is still 4 stars and that is very good. The book is well worth reading. It has brought me reassurances and has also helped me to regain a sense of soldiering on. I recommend that you read Mr. Maxwell's book called Thinking for a Change. It is also very good!
A book that removes the fear of failing
I'm in the process of starting a business and found myself stuck from fear of two things, failing and succeeding. I no longer have those fears and am filled with rules to combat and keep it moving

Great book by the #1 leadership guru in the world. Worth every penny for the person looking to be a better leader wherever they are.
A must read!
This book came highly recommended and now I know why! Definitely one if my favorites by John C. Maxwell! We all fail, but this is a step by step guide to learning and growing from each failure.
Read if you need to pull yourself up from a failure
This is a great motivational read when you need to get back on your feet. Though John Maxwell is a Christian business writer, (a fact I would find a negative instead of a positive when evaluating potential purchases), most of his books are worth reading regardless of your religion or non-religion, and particularly this one if you need to get yourself back on track. His writing is easy and breezy, but he always has interesting case studies and thoughts that will lead you to look inside yourself. Some of his books are heavy on religion, but if I recall correctly, this one isn't, and I have pleasant memories from reading this book. Great read for business and HR students as well.
