Why I purchased: This is one of two books that I purchased of Calvin and Hobbes. I remember reading the same Calvin and Hobbes book over and over as a child whenever I stayed at my grandmother's, so as soon as I remembered that childhood memory, I knew I had to buy more. I remember enjoying these comics so much, laughing at jokes I didn't understand at the time, and I knew that I needed to grab hold of more of them, something I could not do at my young age. What I love: I love how timeless and hilarious these jokes are! I didn't understand them when I was younger, and I remember pulling out the dictionary when I didn't know certain words, so I learned a bit for my young age. If you have never heard of these comics, you NEED to get this book! Yes, it's a comic, but to me, it's funnier than the Peanuts. I know lots of people disagree with me, but there's something sentimental and original about these comics. It couldn't hurt to try! Also, this book is cheaper here than in Barnes and Noble, so I totally recommend getting it here. Bill Watterson was a genius at his craft; you won't regret buying this book, especially if it's your first Calvin and Hobbes book. What I don't love: There is nothing that I don't love! Conclusion: If you have a young child starting to read, this is awesome. If you used to read these comics, get them again! It'll be like walking down memory lane; just do it, how could you regret rereading jokes that you probably have forgotten? The jokes are timeless, the vocabulary makes it interesting, and the jokes are hilarious. For new and old readers alike, if you don't own this book, you need to!

I used to read the Calvin & Hobbes books when I was a kid and remember them fondly. I have now bought all of the books for my own kids. We enjoy reading them together every night (I laugh out loud frequently at these strips, so it's something I look forward to as well). My older son is an avid reader, and has already re-read the books we've finished multiple times. He doesn't seem to get tired of them. The biggest difference I've seen is in my younger son. When I tried reading other books with them at bed time, he'd always wander off or start playing with something else. With Calvin & Hobbes, not only does he stay put (miracle!), but he asks questions about what all the big words mean, and he shocked me the other day when I came across him reading one of these books. Voluntarily. On purpose. With access to plenty of other things to play with. So yeah, definitely worth buying!

I caught several of these on "Daily Deals" the other day and I'm so glad I splurged and got them for myself. I laughed more reading this book than I've laughed in a long, long time. I love how it's easy to zoom in and out as needed, and slide the panels along. I thank the publisher for formatting that way from the bottom of my warm little heart, I bought myself a comic from one of the big names in publishing and couldn't do that with their book. :( My vision isn't perfect, so being able to zoom in and navigate is a pleasure ( I use an older Kindle 7" HDX). I do wish there was a way to bookmark favorite panels to revisit later, though. I'm very happy with this purchase. I enjoyed every minute with Calvin and Hobbes. I'm sure I'll enjoy the other books just as much. I love Calvin and Hobbes. :)

The choice of comic strips is obviously a personal one so I will only say that this is what I consider to be the second greatest comic strip series of all time with first being Bloom County. The Far Side is a cartoon so is in a different category to me. The only real comment concerning the Kindle edition is neither pro nor con, simply something to consider and applies to all Kindle versions of this series. All of the individual strips are graphics and therefore the book size is significantly larger than what one would normally expect and occupies significant internal storage memory which is exacerbated by the fact that Kindle applications do not support external storage such as on USB or SD Card. This was a bit annoying as I had purchased several of these books but only was able to save two at a time and then had to delete from the device to get to the next two. If one is attempting to acquire the entire series in hardcopy then one should consider The Complete Calvin and Hobbes series as it will be more complete. This review was of

I loved reading Calvin and Hobbes while growing up and bought this one for my 8 year-old son for Christmas. It is his favorite book. I just laugh as he reads out loud because he and Calvin are spirit brothers. He's working towards earning another one.

Where else can you find very funny shenanigans with an existential toddler. I was slightly disappointed, as the title made me think there would be more of my favorite snowman strips. But only slightly.

Our Great Grand son loves these books. So we have bought him more. I bought it because my brother & Daddy are named Calvin. Little did I know that my Great Grandson really likes the books.

The nine year old has read it five times through in two weeks. I thought it was a collection of all Calvin's snow sculpture adventures but no. Only one or two of those.

The print version of this book has Sundays in black & white. But I was pleased and surprised to find that the Kindle edition has them in color! Woo-hoo! Before this, the only way to see this book's Sundays in color was in "The Complete Calvin and Hobbes". Also, well-done in all respects. A very pleasant Kindle read. To view the panels in close-up, just double-click, then double-click again to view them in normal size again.

Grew up reading these as a kid and loved them. Lost a lot of them over the years, but have gotten them for my 8 year old daughter who loves them all!

Calvin & Hobbes... Very witty, entertaining look into the mind of a young, selfish, philosophizing brat... um, boy. (And the funny, often balancing conversations he has with his stuffed tiger & parents!) So honest, and realistic that we can all relate. Even though we may not have said or done the same things this bold lad has! (Thankfully!!) I have a young son who loves these books. Got one for him for his birthday, and another for Christmas. He never tires of them, and the rest of us sneak the book to read too!

I was going to buy the Complete Calvin and Hobbes book, but I already had lots of the old paperbacks. I got to looking and all I lacked was this book. Now my collection is complete without having to shell out for the "Complete" book.

Ordered it for my granddaughter who really doesn't like to read but I thought she would enjoy reading the comics, wish it was colored pictures

"Calvin and Hobbes" are the best. I bought the complete set, which includes every strip. They are as follows, "The Days are Just Packed," "There's Treasure Everywhere," "Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat," "Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons," "It's a Magical World," and "The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes." If you're a fan, this is the only way to go.

Several Calvin and Hobbes collections were recently on sale in the Kindle store and I bought them all! I had many of these in hard copy back when brick and mortar stores were places you could stand around leafing through the large anthologies on the humor shelf. It is wonderful to have them on my Kindle, ready to flip through when I need a good nostalgic chuckle. These comics are simply brilliant.

Seriously, this is just one more amazing book in a series that NEVER loses its freshness, inventiveness, or sparky, lively graphics; this is, to my mind, the finest accomplishment in the history of graphic novels, a multi-volume set of fireworks that stretched over years of regular contributions that naturally involved a deadline, since the comics originally appeared in newspapers. At one point I wished that the artist had not stopped; now, with hindsight, I can see that he didn't want to see any decline in the quality of his humor, insight, fantasy, and art. And he didn't!

Calvin and Hobbes. Snow monsters. An iconic combination. Calvin's vision, tempered by Hobbes's wisdom, contributed to the thought processes and popular culture of a generation. The strips have aged well - the humor and heart are grounded in relationships rather than technology. They will remain relevant as long as parents have children, children have imaginary friends, and children have to learn the lessons that they take into adulthood with them...so they can become parents.

Good cartoons, too bad Waterson quit, but I understand his reasoning.

Just like my review of Weirdos from Another Planet, this is an excellent book! A gift for my 26 year old son, for a nostalgic walk down memory lane-he loved it and had much fun reading it again

As a teen, I looked forward to reading the Calvin and Hobbes strip every week. It was my favorite. As an adult, I happen to have a child who very much reminded me of the Calvin charater; a mischivous, creative, opinionated little boy with a head full of cow-licks, whose "best friend" is a stuffed frog. When I thought he was old enough to appreciate the C&H cartoons, I bought him this book and we have thoroughly enjoyed them together. I will definately be buying more of Watterson's books.

Son in law asked for this for a gift and loved receiving it.

Always great to something that will make you smile

It only dawned on me recently that the names of the characters are taken from two very influential writers of the Reformation period. John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes. It is now a categorical imperative that children be exposed to as much of Watterson's work as possible. And of course they are funnier that all get-out.

I like to read a couple or more of these comics after I'm through reading each night. I enjoy them so much. They make me laugh out loud. Read them yourself and see if I'm right. Happy Reading!

I suppose this could apply to any Calvin and Hobbes collection (not just Attack of the Deranged..., but let me share my favorite way to read Calvin and Hobbes. If possible, I like to pick a rainy Saturday or Sunday. I'm usually already bored and wandering around the cold house. I catch sight of a Calvin and Hobbes book and read a few pages, but my fingers are cold and I can't concentrate. So I make a steaming cup of my favorite tea and a piece of toast with lots of butter, wrap up in a blanket on the couch, and sit and read straight through. It's so comforting to listen to the rain and read Calvin and Hobbes. There's just something about it. Er, see other reviews for information about this actual book.

I'd almost forgotten how much fun Calvin and Hobbes are. These books bring back some very dear memories.

Absolutely love C&H. Bought this for my 9 and 12 year olds after they discovered my old "Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat ". Then again, the 9 year old is getting ideas. Might not have been my wisest choice of reading material for my Calvin in Training.

I love Calvin and Hobbes and was sorry to see them leave the comics. Follow the adventures of Calvin and his stuffed tiger as they create chaos at home and school.

My son, daughter, and I have all read it multiple times. Holds up well, both physically and the tales of Calvin's adventures.

Introduced my 11 yr old to Calvin&Hobbes and LOVED hearing him giggle through the book. I've loved this comic for decades and happy to see my son doing the same!

Loved the Calvin and Hobbes strip. Was happy to discover this ebook edition was available for my Kindle Fire HD. The comic strips show up in landscape mode as two strips per screen. The strips are very easy to read, and if needed you can zoom in on individual panels. This is a great book and should be in the collection of any Calvin and Hobbes fan.

I've been a huge fan of this strip from its start to its finish. I miss it, but have found new appreciation for all of the characters, the imagination of Bill Waterson (this stupid keyboard won't allow me to spell Bill's last name correctly...), and his artistic abilities. I love the bright colors for the Sunday comic on my Kindle Fire! Thank you!

Wonderful memories and great laughs !!!

I adore Calvin and Hobbes. I own the majority of his collections, and every one is fabulous. I was pleasantly surprised with the formatting for Kindle e-book on this one, as I'd never tried it before. A couple of the other e-books only allow you to view the comics one way, which can be a little annoying, but overall I'm happy with it. I tend to use my Kindle length-wise anyway, so it wasn't much of an adjustment for me.

Bill Watterson is very creative in his cartoon characters of Calvin and Hobbes. I have enjoyed their antics for years. It won't take you long in following Calvin that you relate to some of his issues concerning school, parents, daydreaming, friendships, and boyhood explorations. Whenever I need a good laugh, I take a few minutes and read Calvin and Hobbes. Being a father and grandfather, I sympathize with Calvin's parents. A great collection to have on hand.

Always loved it. Used to read it with my son, who, now at 25 will still sometimes ask me to read these comics with him. I was so happy to see them available in Kindle. I've been lugging the paper copy around the world with me. Now I can leave the paper copy in one place. :-)

What can you say about Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes? Somehow this little boy and his tiger touch my heart. Calvin is a rascal but a creative, inventive, lovable one. And Hobbes is his best friend. I read and re-read these cartoons. Most make me smile or even laugh out loud. Some make me cry. But I enjoy them all.

All the fifth grade students at school wanted this book that was on display in the school library as part of a character pumpkin decorating contest. They were a little disappointed that a teacher owned it and it couldn't be checked out to go home. Had to have it. Anything to keep kids reading!

My 7-year-old grandson learned to read for two reasons: he wanted to navigate around the free games on the Internet all by himself (of course), and equally as important, he got hooked on Calvin and Hobbes. I attribute my grandson's advanced reading skills directly to Calvin and Hobbes -- which is for children of all ages. Bill Waterson writes simply most of the time, but he also uses some words that are not normally in the lexicon of 7-year-olds. My grandson is reading three grade levels above his class because of this. I also think that he identifies very strongly with Calvin... My now 18-year-old grandson also learned to read because of Calvin and Hobbes. --A very proud Grandma!

C&H are timeless. been reading since a kid and hope to pass on to my kids all the fun and memories. better than the collectors edition as it is hard to ask a young kid to put that on their lap during bedtime. this is light and easy to carry like all the originals were. i especially love the snow books. they are my favorite during the winter time.

Purchased this for my nephew along with Avatar: The Last Airbender and Ultimate Spiderman. His hands-down favorite was Calvin & Hobbes. Of course they're classic, the dialog is witty and there's loads of subtext but it really surprised me that over all the big action and superpowers, he was most interested in the warmth that comes from an imaginary stuffed tiger.

what can i say that would make someone buy this book is anyone looking for calvin and hobbes books even need to read these reviews if so buy not only this one but all of them as long as this book wasn't on fire when i pulled it from its package i was happy and you'll be too

I've been teaching my son to read English through Calvin and Hobbes books. I've been surprised how much of it is written with an adult in mind. We have drawn much amusement from these books. The Snow Goons isn't quite as rewarding as other C&H collections, but is enjoyable nonetheless. This is more a weekly format with black and white strip cartoons. None of the Sunday spreads are contained within this collection, where one really saw Watterson show off his stunning imagination. However, it is very much worth adding to the archives, especially for bedtime stories.

Spacebar Spiff, vivid imagination, and snow monsters all make the scene, with our intrepid heroes risking everything to save the world (except of course for Suzy--but she manages to hold her own!) The Calvin and Hobbes books are great a lot of great memories when I was a little kid going to bed and reading the books. They have great memories in my family and love to read them to my little 7 year old girl. I love how they make you have great smile on your face. I have to say my little girl loves them to.

Sent to my grandchildren for gifts because my children enjoyed the hysterical snowmen when they were young.

DON'T GET ME WRONG, I love Calvin and Hobbes, just not in the Kindle format. The books do not turn to fit the Kindle screen, making them hard to see and read. Unlike the Garfield books, which turn to fit, making them fun and easy to read.

Bill Watterson is one if the two finest comic strip artists I have ever read (the other being Walt Kelly). The humor goes deeper than the immediate chuckle. Any of the collections of his strips is going to entertain and bring joy.

There are only two ways I could have to make this even more enjoyable. One would be the ability to bookmark this ebook's pages to return to favorite ones. The other would be news that Bill would be doing new cartoons. Splendid draftsmanship & an even better sense of characters, situations, comedy, & great imagination!

Purchase for my children to read. I love reading Calvin & Hobbs when I was younger. Arrival was acceptable. Since these were purchase used, the quality was acceptable, not much wear and tear. I do recommend them.

Calvin and Hobbes, GREAT! On the kindle app, not so much. This is one of those electronic conversions where they don't have expansion or zooming on the text (balloons) enabled or possible. Don't get me wrong it's readable. But it would be more enjoyable if zooming was enabled. Plan on reading this on a tablet or larger device for better enjoyment of reading the text balloons. Reading on a computer monitor with the web app is also problematic as the pages don't expand to the width of the screen, only the height. So unless you have a great resolution and a big, big screen, reading is painful even on a larger computer monitor. It's a shame doesn't bother to put in the effort to render some of these classic cartoon literature with the same features and care they do to the other books or graphic novels. The artwork is easily viewable and able to be appreciated no matter what. But reading is not easy.

Calvin and Hobbes are the best! I'm nearly 60 and still laugh out loud at this strip. Still remember Spaceman Spiff painted on attack vehicles in Desert Storm.

I read these books first when I was in high school, and was so pleased to find another collection that I hadn't read. My children and I enjoy this book so much!

My eight year old daughter loves reading Calvin and Hobbes books. I remember seeing the same cartoons in the newspaper years ago. They are as good as ever!

I now have a 'Thank You' letter from my 7-year-old niece including the phrase 'Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons'. As well as being witty, clever, well- and interestingly-drawn, these books do so much for vocabulary!

The book was in perfect condition, almost brand new and delivered on time.

Calvin and Hobbes has always been one of my favorite comic strips. This collection features some of the greats, and I love to keep it on my coffee table to make people happy!
