Alfred's Basic Piano Library - Recital Book 1A: Learn How to Play with This Esteemed Piano Method

My daughter is exploding with the step-by-step approach of Alfred's instruction books. The graphics are fun for a 1st grader. The concepts are well thought-out. The lessons allow for gradual, yet excellent progression in learning music theory and piano skills.

These books are great for kids.

Great starter books. I bought these books to teach my 8 year old how to play piano. They were very easy to follow and were at a great pace!! I'd recommend them to people learning how to play piano for the first time!

Good quality

Our piano instructions requires the 4 Alfred's basic piano library books and flash cards. They're making progress and like getting out their books to practice and do homework in them.

Alfred is so easy to read and understand for both teacher and children! Children enjoy the association of the pictures with the song and learn the music quicker. It's a nice compact size and very reasonable. I highly recommend this series.

This book is a great beginner book with a good variety of songs to play from. All songs are right at a good beginner level with also some songs to challenge a learner that would like to move forward.

Great book for beginner piano players. The book is easy to follow and hone down the basic skills of piano.

My preteen girls use this curriculum with a piano teacher. They are doing great! Making quick progress as long as they practice daily. The piano teacher uses the curriculum verbatim, page for page.

Got this as a follow up to the beginning lesson book 1A of the Alfred Basic Piano Book. Songs look fun.

I like this simple beginner program for learning piano and theory. The language is easy to understand and pictures cater to young children. I would recommend as a good beginner set of books. Check out recital, theory, and lesson as a good set to have.

The book holds my son's interest, and seems to progress in an orderly fashion. Recommended by his new instructor. Good series of books so far.

This is a good book for the beginner. I wish I it had a DVD with it. It is always good to see what you are suppose to play.

This whole series is fantastic! I've been playing flute and guitar since I was eight, and have recently wanted to get my whole family excited about the piano. I did a lot of research to find books that would cover all aspects of learning (Theory, Technic, recital pieces, etc.) and Alfred's piano library has it all. It introduces all the necessary elements of music, while making it fun and easy to learn. For children, I would recommend getting at least the Lesson, Recital, Theory, and Technic books for each level. For adults or those with some prior music knowledge, I'd recommend Alfred's All-In-One Piano Course. Great series!

Even for the most basic beginner, cute, thoughtful songs that could easily be performed for a beginning pianist recita.

I was really hesitant about this piano teaching series because it starts out numbering the fingers instead of teaching notes. However, I am now a believer. My six year old moved quickly through the material and didn't lose interest mostly because she started with the numbered fingers and progressed from there. I highly recommend these books as an effective system for teaching piano.

I ordered 4 books from the Alfred collection for my daughter and I have no complaints!

He is pretty sharp and has no problems moving through the music and yet does not seem to be bored

Good book

This book seems like it teaches good, but, hardly any of the songs are songs you would recognize. Child lost interest very quickly (about 5 minutes), and switched to another book with popular nursery rymmes like Mary had a little lamb, etc.

I ordered Alfred recital book 6, and I received this wrong one!

I had to buy this book for my 6 y/o daughter who started playing piano. She had never touched piano before but with the help of her teacher and well featured lessons provided in this book she was able to step up very soon and now she is almost done with the second book.
