Only goes to 10...

I have both of these and the original ABCs of RPGs as well. The ABCs of D&D is a nice update to the original. However, I was really disappointed with the 123s of D&D, as it only goes to 10 and not 20 (you know, because of a d20). Missed opportunity there. After counting to 10, then it goes into rhyming about monsters, which is nice, but I would've rather seen it go to 20.

Cute, for the youngest of D&D fans

This is a very basic, nursery level book of counting from one to ten. It tells the story of three kids in a blended family that play D&D. You need an adult to explain some of the concepts in the book, but it would provide a great chance to talk to kids about role-playing games at their level. My favorite picture in the book is the parents dashing off to the rpg table at the very end. All in all, cute, unoffensive, and a fun romp in the D&D world for the youngest gamers.

Cute book!

So wished the numbers where on the page like the alphabet one. My 4 year old has autism and is absolutely obsessed with the abcs of rpgs book. I bought that book for my husband when my son was born as he is a dm and total nerd. Fast forward 4 years later and my son is obsessed with it. He loves the pictures and pointing to all the letters of the alphabet. I bought this book for Christmas hoping to extend that excitement but he wasn’t ask interested as the numbers weren’t on the page. The illustrations were still very nice but I feel the first book was much better. This one seems a little more thrown together but still fun and recommend it.

Fun, quick read

My son enjoyed sitting down and reading this with me. Got it so that he could get used to numbers, and at the same time share one of my interests (fantasy games). While he doesn't understand what a lot of the creatures are, he did have fun pointing out "unicorn bunny" and "dragon!" as well as identifying the color and shapes of the dice. I liked the glossary of monsters in the back. The only thing I wish the book had done was go to 20, as the icosahedron (20 sided die) is one of the iconic symbols of D&D.

Nerd family loves these!

My husband and I both enjoy DnD and we have a 3 year old daughter who I hope will one day enjoy it as well. These books (we also got the ABCs book) are perfect for her age and are just a pleasure to read to her. The illustrations are wonderful and I appreciate the shorter length. They are not meant to be adventure tales. They are books to learn counting/numbers or the ABCs. A 10 year old is probably not going to enjoy READING these although they may enjoy the illustrations. Perfect for nerdy family with very young children.

Great kid book!

I was a Kickstarter backer of "ABCs of RPGs" and it was super cute and my daughter really liked it. I saw this one on Amazon for pre-order and at first thought "How dare they rip off the 'ABCs of RPGs' book!" but its actually the same folks that made it. So here we are. Really cute book, it goes through counting and has a bestiary in the end. It's fun to read and rhymes. My daughter likes to count on each page.

My 2 Year Old Loves It

For her birthday last year, my two year old received the ABCs of D&D from her uncle and loved it. I decided to get her this book too and she is just as pleased with it. The art is good, it is well written, and I absolutely delight in the fact that it is both teaching her basic numbers and getting her exposed to D&D. Also, the quality of the book's construction seems pretty good.

Great Alongisde the ABC's of D&D, but the weaker of the two.

I bought this book along with the ABC's of D&D. I love them both, but this is definitely the weaker of the two. It simply goes from one to ten and then has a rhyme of a monster manual-esque "beastiary" as an epilogoue. I was hoping for covering numbers up to 20 (seems like a no brainer for D&D) and the beastiary mentions some material like feasting on brains that may offput the more sheepish of children. I still love it, and my 2 yesr old daughter always asks for it after the ABC's, so it's still worth a buy.

Such a fun bedtime ritual that provides something for my daughter that she can't get somewhere else.

My daughter is very into Disney Princesses and My Little Pony and all of that, and while that's fine and dandy with me... I'd like to have something that rounds that out and encourages her to adventure, develop a strong and supportive group of friends, and allow her to imagine and explore beyond the boundaries of established characters and their defined roles within their world. I'd like her imagination to grow with her understanding of herself and D&D is a great outlet for that. This book caught my 3 year old little girl's attention from her first glimpse at the cover and she asks me to read her this and the 123's nightly. It's awesome to have her point out Almiraj (unicorn bunnies with leopard spots), or the Tabaxi (cat people), and even more rewarding to have her take notice of the female wizard who leads and supports her group and helps them by giving them "magic shoes". When she eventually moves on from this book, I'll be storing it in my memory treasure chest forever.

Adventure by the Numbers is an Awesome Way to Learn!

What better time to introduce the magic of role playing and Dungeons & Dragons than during early child development? And what an awesome way to learn and share that magic between a geek mom or dad and their adventurer in training? "The 123's of D&D" is a brilliantly crafted book, filled with bright and colorful pages of the things we all love about the world's greatest roleplaying game. This book is an entertaining way for parents to teach their children colors, numbers, shapes, and the characteristics of heroes and fair play. It was so good, that I contributed to the Kickstarter for my copy of "The ABC's of RPG's," and then bought a copy of "The ABC's of D&D" and "The 123's of D&D" as soon as they were published as well!

omg to cute and perfect for DND families

this book fits right next to the ABCs of RPGs . very funny and cute for a knowledge starter in both 1,2,3's and DND characters/monsters

there are no numbers in this book!

We got our son the ABC's of D&D book and it's wonderful; my son loves looking at the letters and identifying them. So we decided to get him this 123'a of D&D book and were extremely disappointed that there are no numerals in it. There are only the numbers spelled out in a block of text (one, two three).. in the middle of sentences. By the time kids are old enough to read a sentence, they're old enough to count to 10, so I'm not sure who this book is for, but it's not for toddlers.

You can never introduce them to D&D to early

This was a great find for my friend's kids. Their dad spends a lot of time at our house playing D&D a couple of times a month. I found this book to be amazing with a great introduction to some of the monsters and now he can talk to them , tell them stories and show them pictures of some of the monsters he fought while he was away.

not as good as ABCs of D&D

this one feels a little half-baked compared to the ABC's of D&D. It only covers the numbers 1-10 and then a short bestiary in the back, and on top of that there aren't clear numerals on each page. In that regard it's more of a learn to count book than a book for learning the actual numerals, but it's not bad overall.

Cute!

My 3 year old daughter loves it! It's a bit cheesy but I still enjoy it myself since I kind of get to talk about D&D to my daughter. For some reason she especially loves pointing out the goblins and refuses to believe that the bugbear s anything other than a goblin as well.

Cute and Entertaining

It is super cute. My kids love me reading it to them and we enjoy the bestiary part in the back a lot. Lots of rhyming and overall cuteness! Great way to introduce young kids to DnD. My kids are 2 and almost 4 so they cannot play but they bring their book when we pack up our DnD book.

Great

A really fun book, my 6yr old enjoyed reading it over and over to the point of wearing down the cover. The art and writing are wonderfully tailored for small gamers to learn to read with. Such a fun adventure

These are an easy and adorable read.

First off, of course, I got this for kids whose parents are D&D fans. These books (ABCs and 123s of D&D) are great. The illustrations are good quality and the text is simple enough for my young nieces, a few of which think D&D is fun even though they don't fully understand what they're doing rolling the dice. These are an easy and adorable read.

Great for nerd dads and their daughters!

I thought this might be “too young” for my 5 year old who’s known her numbers and letters for a few years now. However, she loves it! As a nerd dad, it’s a way for me to introduce her to things I love while reinforcing her knowledge.

You already know you want it if you clicked on it

You already know you want this book of you clicked on this. Self explanatory! If you like D&D and want to introduce your kid to both D&D and numbers very cute!! Don't forget the ABC's of D&D!!

Super creative book

Love how creative this book is with counting. The images are great and relatable for children. Well thought out ideas and very well executed. The book does have an issue with it’s binding, the second to last page seems to not adhere well. This must be an issue with the manufacturer, as their other book A,B,Cs of D&D also has this problem. I recommend this book, it’s great!

Too cute!

This book is so cute. My boyfriend is a DM and I bought this book for our son, and surprised them with it. My boyfriend was so excited to have kid's books to start introducing our son to his favorite hobby. It's well made, brightly colored, and makes a great gift!

My daughter loves this book!

Bought to read to my daughter, and keep her interest in D&D as she learns her ABC's and 123's. She adores both books! Wven to the point of identifying the characters depicted with those in our party. The rhymes and the art are both charming, and it is a truly a pleasure to read these books to her. The only complaint I have is the books are a little small and a little short for the price.

Cute and wonderful

Ordered for my nephews, 2&4, but wanted to read first to see how they looked. They are so beautifully illustrated and the text is easy to read and perfect for kids. I would recommend both 123 and ABC for any kids. Wonderful and definitely happy I got them!

Fun rhyming book explaining D&D

My 8 year old and I enjoyed the book. Excellent art and some good rhyming sentences. Good reading practice for a young kid too. Not so much something for academic learning though as it only goes up to ten for counting.

Love it!

So I've had my eye on this, and the ABC's book for sometime. I got both as a gift for my daughter who just turned 1, and I love them. The writing is great and the illustrations beautiful. I love sitting down with my little girl and reading them to her while she tries to grab the pages. I completely recommend both books to any parents who want to share them with their adventurous little one.

Great Advertisement for Wizards Products

Not so good book. Nice art. I don't believe the author has ever met a child. My 3 year old loves D&D and reading, but hates this book.

Fun book for my son!

Great artwork and my son loves for me to read it to him. Along with the A B C of D&D book my son is on his way to being a fan of D&D.

Cute Book

Husband loves playing dnd and loves he has a book that can help our LO learn and possibly peak his interest in dnd to play with dad!

Cute book, a lot of fun

My kids love this book and read it over and over. I found it hidden under my son's pillow so he could read it before bed every night.

Short but fun

I liked the characters. Some of the choices of characters were a little out there for small children (lilithid lich, odd name for bunny for unicorn horn). I liked the story but it was a little short with just 1 number per page but dice in the back group show different numbers that confused my daughter.

Love it!

This is amazing! Someone got us the ABS of D&D So we just had to get the 123's! Thank you!

Good for DnD parent

It is cute and well drawn. I enjoy reading it to the kids and just telling them what is in the background images.

I cant wait for Christmas!

Bought this and it's companion book the ABC's of D&D for my nephew for Christmas. Super cute stories, and the artworks are really cute, and it's an unconventional presentation of letters and numbers. I'm really pleased with these books and hope my nephew enjoys them as much as we will enjoy giving them to him.

Great way to learn your numbers

This is the cutest little book. You need to teach your D&D to your kids young and this is the way to do it.

Buy with the ABCs book!

The ABCs book is a little better, but both excellent. My 5 year old daughter loves these books!

Fun, my girls love these!

I love this book! It's a great learning book for my two toddlers who now have an early start at DnD so they can play with Mommy!

Great purchase

Both my fiance and I are big DnD fans so when I saw this I had to get it for our baby. He's no where near the age of reading but the bright colors in the book catch his attention when we read it to him during tummy time.

Start the questing young

As a nerd and lover of d and d what a great way to start the next generation of adventurers. I bought this for a baby shower, the request was to bring a book that they could read to their child with a note inside. Educational and fun!

Didn't Care for This

Would have returned, if return shipping wasn't half the cost of the book. I'll likely throw this in the trash. Not even worth re-gifting.

Strongly Put Together

Beautiful Books! Will be kept up high on the Shelf until hes old enough to not damage But the colors and illustrations are beautiful and he loves it!

In love

Amazing book I cannot wait to read this to my baby. Thank you for making this!

Great but...

It would be better if they used numerals instead of words.

Cute Idea

I got these for my baby girl & her dad because he plays D&D so I think these will be great for story time for them!

My kids love this!

Such a fun and great story, I read them to my kids every night, my daughter even knows what 90% of the creatures in it are and counts on every page. Terrific kids books, hope they make more like this.

Great book

This is a great book for little dungeoneer's and explorer's I have fun reading it to my kids and having them ask me about all the pictures.

My son loves this book!

We have to read this book before nap and bed time. He even grabs it to read in between. He loves the Almiraj and gets excited to see them. The story is appropriate for a little one- the rhymes are catchy and it is not too long. The pictures are great, too.

Great shape, great book!

Our D&D friends are having a baby, so we ordered this book for their future adventurer. It came in perfect condition, and the story and art is really good! Very inclusive, simple, and (I believe) gets to the heart of the game. Highly recommend!

Really great!

Great book for the little ones! Fun to read and great to use as a teaching tool.

Recommended

Arrived earlier than expected! Adorable! Recommended!

Great book

The best books for any D&D family. My 8yr old loves reading this to her baby brother.

Excellent starting point for kids.

The presentation was very good. A basic guide for new kids getting into or wanting to get into table top role playing games.

Fun with reading

Wonderful book to read to your young ones.

One of my favorite books to read to my son.

I'm a huge D&D fan and when a friend got our son the ABC's of D&D I had to get the next book in the lineup. I also love books that rhyme and this one does very well. I would definitely recommend for any D&D loving parents.

Best Book for children ever!!

I'm a huge nerd, and while my cousin isn't I know very well she grew up in a DnD family! So getting this for her seemed like the right choice and soon as it came in the mail I knew it was perfect. They really got a good laugh outta it and Im sure it'll teach my new nephew well to the right path of adventure ;3

When you want to teach your target audience to count,

Use a book that is written for the target audience. Our little one is getting ready to start school but he already sits at the table watching everyone play Dungeons & Dragons. This was perfect to combine learning his numberss with his love of D&D.

Great purchase

For my nephew. So precious.

Super cute!

The illustrations and story is really good and my son likes looking at the pictures to find new monsters and such. Greatly enjoy this little book!

A Wonderful Book for Kids

DnD kid style. To help them learn math, use their imaginations and rules. I love these books so much.

Dnd for tiny goblin

The art is precious and the writing keeps my toddler involved.

Toddler loves it

Very cute for our d&d family

So fun

Perfect for my little dragons

Adorable book

The attention to detail in this book is incredible. We love the cute little ears on the elf character!

So cute

Super cute. Great book, I love it

It's good, but nothing compared to the ABCs of DnD

It's a fun book, with a good cadence and set of rhymes, but it's really disappointing that the numbers are only typed out as words within in the text and not shown clearly and boldly on each page.

Fast shipping, item as described

Awesome book, grandson loved it

Good buy

One of my sons favorite books so far. Wonderful artwork.

Great product.

Great product.

Gift for my nephew

He loves this book. IT is paper pages so maybe not good for kids who rip pages out of books but super cute and easy to read.

Fun book for little adventurers!

My son loves this book! The ABCs and 123s of D&D are fun books that provoke imaginative responses in kids, especially if they're like mine and listen to their parents playing D&D often.

Fun book

Gotta teach them young. Now to get the kid a first set of dice.

Love.

Great book, beautiful pictures, good story.

A fun book for the litte one

My 6 moth old loves the pictures and the rhymes

Learning adventure!

I bought this for my grandkids. It is well written with cute pictures. The kids love it and so do I!

Fantastic book!

I was thrilled to see that a book like this exists. I bought it for my young daughter, and she loves it!

Dnd fans

These are so cute our kids love them and it’s a great way to introduce dnd to kids hoping they love it as much as we do so we can introduce the game to them

Great

Not quiet what I thought it would be. It spells numbers out not showing numbers but we still love it. Very colorfully written and illustrated.

I would give this 10 stars if I could

My 4 year old son loves this book... AND it gave me the missing piece to finding the big bad to my current campaign! The bestiary in the back gave me a huge clue to something I was missing, and I am probably more grateful for this book than my son is!

Awesome

My daughter loves this book as well as the other. Great for a beginner reader

UH... WINNNER!!!

DnD for Kids plus learn your numbers? YES! Artwork is beautiful and quality is fantastic!

So nerdy

I love it! Great quality and it's fun to read!

Perfect for the little adventurer

Perfect for your little adventurer. We have a little Bard in the making and he loves looking at pictures and hearing the story.

Parental Nerds unite!! This IS the boom for your family!!!!

As a family we loved sitting down and reading this together! As a teacher this book hit so many notes that I am looking for such as multiculturalism and and expansive vocabulary for a child. The quality is also amazing!! Thank you!!!

Love this book!

My daughter loves reading this book! It is a standard every night before she goes to bed!

Nerdy parent dream come true

Seriously, so great. We act out a lot of books with our son at bedtime because it makes him laugh so hard. But it is hard to find good books that keep him fixated and interested. These two books totally nailed it. Highly recommend for the nerdy parent.

My kids love this book

The artwork is cute and suitable for young children, and it has a nice little story that goes along with the counting. Both my 4yo boy and 6yo girl loved this book.

Baby loves book

My son loves to read this at bed time.

You have no saving throw against how wonderful this book is.

Perhaps because this book rolled a Nat20 in Nostalgia, but my toddler and I have both enjoyed reading it again and again.

Great Book But an Obvious Miss

Wonderful story, great art, but why does it stop at 10 instead of 20? It's not the "123s of White Wolf" All kidding aside, my daughter loves it and grabs this and the ABCs to read regularly.

Nice and quick. Wish the numbers went higher

Wish the 123 went up to 20 instead of having a bestiary. Other than that it’s a cute book and is a nice quick read.

Awesome!

Love this book I got for my nephew. Thought it would be a good way for my brother to bond and teach his son. Book pages are thicker and the new book smell is amazing.

love it

my whole family loves this book

It was ok

Lacked in substance, even for a kids book

Fun counting book

Love reading this to my little one.

Great for toddlers

Great book for a Dungeons and Dragons enthusiast to read to their children. My toddling terror absolutely adores the illustrations and it captivates her attention.

Quick and sweet

My daughter loves looking at the pictures and listening to the story.

Such a cute book!

This is so perfect for tiny nerds and full grown nerds!

Just as expected. Very ☺!

Better than expected. He loves it

Super Cute!

Really cute book for D&D lovers kids. I do wish there was a board book version though since my son is only 8mo and likes to try and grab the pages and can easily tare a book like this apart.

Love everything about this book

My son loves it

For Geek Parents and Geek Kids

Awesome Illustrations!

Great product!

Great

I love reading this to my 5 month old

Doesn't have numerals on the pages.... what?

It doesn't have the numerals on each page. This kind of kills it potential as a teaching tool for kids. Can you really expect a kid to which you're teaching numbers to understand spelling? There are things to count on each page. It is cute but the content is a lot weaker than the ABCs of D&D.

Good for D&D, but it has a major flaw for children's counting book!

A companion piece to the ABCs of D&D (by the same author and illustrator pair,) this one is a counting book and a bestiary in one. Again, it captures the essence and spirit of Dungeons and Dragons showing a small adventuring party encountering strange and exciting locations, creatures, and circumstances. But this time it focuses on numbers rather than on alphabetical entries (though its bestiary does act as a bit of an alphabetical listing of the creatures found in its pages.) Unfortunately, it breaks the cardinal rule of number books by employing cardinal numbers (one, two, three, et cetera) exclusively. Ordinal numbers (1, 2, 3, and so on) are not just important for the age group this book is going to be read to and by, but they're also on the dice with which the game is played. Of course, the book is otherwise wonderful, so this seems like a bit of a downer to mention. But it's very important for such books. Maybe they'll revise it in the future and get those in there. Just add a die into each illustration. Come on, folks. Do it!

Age-appropriate and adorable!

The adorable illustrations in this D&D counting book highlight both the kid-friendliness and the in-jokes for parents! Nothing is scary; goblins aren't too scary and they're frightened away with suction-tipped arrows. There are words in the included Bestiary that will even teach older kids a thing or two. And Dragonlance fans: There's an Easter egg just for you!

Wonderful!

I probably like these books more than my 3 year old daughter. I also like the bestiary a lot but counting to 20 should definitely have happened! Love the artwork and the opportunity to begin indoctrinating my daughter to the wonders of dungeons and dragons. Most common question I get asked is, what is the white dragon going to steal? What does hit the hay mean?

Not What Expected

I initially got the ABC version of this book and wanted to get this companion. My 2 year old loves the ABC version but this number one, not so much. It's not as fun or creative as the ABC version. I like that it goes with the previous book but wish it was not as boring as it ended up being.

Educational

My 2 1/2 year old got this for Christmas, and now wanders around the house muttering, "PROPHECIES OF DOOM!" Five stars.

Great for the next generation of nerds

A perfect sequel to the ABC book. A great way to introduce RPGs to littles.

Awesome

Got as gift along with the other they do. Great visuals, doesn't talk down, tells a good story, plenty of nuances to speak to when reading to kids of various levels.

My kids love it

Learn your 1,2,3’s w/ D&D

I’ve recently delved into the dungeons and dragons world and so I decided to pick this up for my little. The artwork is beautiful.

Fun

I played D&D for many years and still a major gamer. I got this for my daughter, illustrations are fun and entertaining. Well written, and funny my daughter is 9 months old so you cant expect much but she seemed to enjoy it. Honestly though i think i enjoyed it more.

Love it.

I grew up with D&D . This book is a great way to pass on something that i care about.

Everyone that saw these loved them

This is such a wonderful book. Great pictures , well written, and super cute.

never regretted this purchase. i hope therell be a "toddler friendly" version soon.

A must have for any adventurer

Fantastic book with wonderful illustrations. Very creative. Love reading this to my little one. It’s one we both enjoy.

Daughter LOVES these books.

Its great being able to share my hobby with my daughter in a way that we both enjoy. Need more.

Doesn't show the actual numbers...

Really disappointed with the book, which I really wanted to like... It's a great idea but a bad execution (the D&D ABC book in comparison is much better). A couple of good things is that the drawing are amazing and the story holds up, but that is pretty much it. There's a bunch of issues with it that doesn't make it suitable for a 1,2,3 type of book. The very first reason, and my main beef, is that the numerical number ARE NOT represented on the pages! How can I try to make my daughter (3 years old) learn number if they are not displayed... They are written in letters instead of using the symbol. They could have simply displayed the current number on a dice for instance. Instead, there are expecting kids to count items that are drawn, which leads us to the next issue. There is an overarching story which, as I mentioned before, is good. Every page has a number associated with a certain story element. The issue here is that, as much as the drawing are good, it's actually quite hard for some to figure what needs to be counted. A few examples: - Good: the 5 towers and 7 sigils are very easily counted and pop out, which my daughter picked up - Bad: the 4 travelers are really confusing. There are 3 grouped on one side and another small one on the other side. Very confusing for a young kid Last but not least, there are meant to be 9 dragons but after recounting a few times, I still only find 8... Again, really disappointed... If you are considering getting this I suggest you reconsider and get the D&D ABC one which doesn't suffer from those issues.

Two awesome books in one

This book is almost 2 books in one, first is the rhyme similar to the ABC of D&D book. Second is a child friendly monster manual of everything in the first half of the book. We are using these books as bed time books currently and having two sections allows for a shorter story time when our child is particularly tired and isn’t going to make it through the whole book

Nice book, better for older children

Very nice book with beautiful illustrations. Similar to the A,B,Cs of D&D. However, half of the book is a bestiary which recycles the illustrations from the first half. Also, because of the monsters I would not use it with very young children.

Brilliant

Such a great purchase, I bought if for my husband as a littlejokw/something he could read to our children and it's now our youngests bedtime story 😅.

My nephew loves it

Despite the initial book arriving in bad condition the second book was fine and fortunately arrived in time for my nephew's birthday, it's safe to say his parents are sick of reading them to him, which as a massive D&D fan is a win from me. I also read them to him and they are great!!

Cute book

Bought as a joke gift for my D&D playing sons. I was expecting it to be a bit more instructive, rather than fun. Bug it brought a smile!

Fantastic Book!

This book is great quality and the story itself is fantastic! My 6yo daughter loves trying to play D&D with me so I know she will love this book as much as I do. The same goes for the other book, The ABC's of D&D!

Perfect way to introduce D&D early.

A really great book, I read it to my children at bed time and it has helped bridge them into my love for Dungeons & Dragons. Would recommend to any RPG parent that wants to peal their children's interest.

Beautiful book

Being an avid D&D fan from the age of 12 I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book with my one year old. The artwork is beautifully designed.
