In the world of Tokyo Ghoul, sometimes the only way to fight monsters is to become one… The Commission of Counter Ghoul is the only organization fighting the Ghoul menace, and they will use every tool at their disposal to protect humanity from its ultimate predator. Their newest weapon in this hidden war is an experimental procedure that implants human investigators with a Ghoul’s Kagune, giving them Ghoul powers and abilities. But both the procedure and the newly formed Qs Squad are untested. Will they become heroes…or monsters?! Haise Sasaki is in charge of turning the unruly members of the Qs Squad into an elite counter-Ghoul unit. But with everything to prove, will his team bite off more than it can chew when it starts investigating the mysterious organization Aogiri Tree? And can Haise be the mentor the Qs need when his forgotten past could come back to haunt him at any moment?

BATTLES, here I come!!!

I've got to start with the art because yeah, I picked it up because of the gorgeous watercolor art and the strikingly realistic black and white drawings. It's just as gorgeous this volume as the previous one. There was some great techniques to show the auras of a couple of the characters as well as some incredible frames that start the battles at the end. The character designs are such that even if I don't know some of the secondary characters' names I can still keep them separate visually, quite an accomplishment if you are going to have so many characters! The plot of this volume is to setup the investigation needed for the huge battles in volume 3! I'm so glad I was able to review volumes 2 and 3 together because storywise they are heavily linked (I suggest picking them up together!) As such they act as a great contrast to each other. We meet a fourth Quinx who hadn't appeared in volume 1 and a crazy great special investigator Juzo, who is friends with Haise! And a bunch of antagonists are inserted in compelling ways... I wasn't always able to follow what was going on but I was engaged in each of the side characters. You just can't help but love how rich with character and plot this story is... A LOT is crammed into each volume... its well worth the price from that standpoint alone! But the tension is ratcheted up in this volume and I was particularly worried for Toru... But because there are sooooo many character (something I LOVE) the tension doesn't stay high. You are too busy switching from person to person and trying to figure out what those frames mean. I don't mind this but I'm also not flying through the volume... its more a series you want to buy and savor. I've really been sucked into the world and the different motivations of all the characters. They range from pure hearted Haise, to selfish Urie, to the ghouls who sometimes don't feel as evil as they should... While I am confused at times I wouldn't want the story to be simpler or less involved. That's part of the story's charm and why you feel compelled to keep reading.

The paperback came in perfect condition and arrived on time.

Still great

Less jumpy than volume one, but still more than I'd like. It almost feels like the author expects me to know something I've no way of knowing, which makes following some bits difficult. Overall still a great series.

Love it

Many people dislike TG :re but I love it

I LOVE TOKYO GHOUL 💖

Touka is my life

Just ok

This volume was a little to hard to follow. On one page the characters were in one location talking about one thing than on the next page they are at a different location talking about something completely different. This made the manga difficult to read and follow. This happens quite a lot throughout this volume. Hopefully this wont be the norm for this series.

Amazing Quality!

Probably the best seller I've found for used manga on Amazon; product arrived in better condition than most 'new' manga! You rock "glenthebookseller!" Thank you!!

Re is Remarkable

Reading TG: Re is very different from reading TG. The tone, the atmosphere, it's still very much TG but it's different. That changes nothing about how enjoyable it is though. It's still a blast to read just like TG. The art and storytelling are amazing. Sui Ishida really has me in the palm of his hand as I hang on every word spoken and every action taken. Love this manga!

Fateful Encounter and The Auction Sweep Mission Begins🤐

First things first, as we all know that Touka Kirishima returns to Tokyo Ghoul Universe as we all could guess just by looking at the front Cover😆. A Faithful encounter occurs when Haise smells good coffee and he along with his other subordinate's is drawn to the Re: Coffee shop. There we see a first encounter between Touka and Haise. We even see Yomo as he boldly confronts Haise but leaves the scenes without saying a single word. Haise drinks the coffee and it's smell and taste makes him Nostalgic. It reminds him of something wonderful he can't remember and so starts crying. At that point of time Touka comes in the scenes and hands him a handkerchief to comfort him. Although this was a brief encounter, Haise notices that although he didn't know her but she looked a bit sad😙. It's perhaps his instincts or his feelings which subconsciously makes him worry about her. Other than that, we have a lot of Tokyo Ghoul Comedy with in this volume. Like when Shizaru and Urie have to deal with the greatest Lazy bum of the Q's, and yes that's Saiko. There is a lot of comedy that Sui Ishida brings out in this Manga. Then there is the commencement of The Auction Sweep Mission that takes places. Juzo makes a comeback with a different look and as Assistant Special Investigator. He leads his Squad and is very well known. Haise and his subordinates (excluding Urie who was away) undergo a special mission to contact the S class Ghoul The Nutcracker. It's a Hilarious Mission😂😂, as we see that Sasaki decides that they would enter as ladies. So they undergo a ladies transformation. Believe me the transformation was so unbelievable that you would die laughing. Not to mention that Shirazu looks like 🤮, whereas in comparison Sasaki looks just 😳🤪🤪 like Akira Mado🤦. Whatever it was quite amusing to watch😂😂😂😂 Last but not the least Toru makes contact with the Nutcracker and the CCG plans to let Toru and Juzo get abducted. Toru gets sold at a high bidding and loses hope of ever getting rescued again. But Haise wouldn't let that happen;-) The CCG enters the scene as soon as the plan is set in motion with Juzo starting to attack the ghouls. In the end I would like to conclude that this volume forms the base for Volume 3 and 4. Thus it is essential to have this volume so as to follow the upcoming Manga of Takizawa.👍

2 versions of this set

Make sure you buy from the same set or story is all over the place. They charge a tenner a book and they are read in a night. The set cost well over £100. The middle books are not in print so we got to book 7 or 8 and are now stuck unless we switch to Kindle.

Perfect

No complaints here. I ordered vol 1 and 2 and both arrived on time. My son will be a happy boy on Christmas day.

Good quality 😊

Value for money

Reads back to front

My book arrived and although it is in English it has the lay of of a traditional Japanese book: book starts at the back! My 11 year old couldn't get her head around this, so had to return:( Wish this had been made clearer in the info. She's very disappointed x
