I have this book 5 stars because it is undeniably the best book ever written by Red Phoenix! I keep thinking with each new release, there is no way she can top this book. But, we each new book she proves me wrong. If you like reading BDSM mixed with pulling of your heart strings, this book is for you! If you have read any of the Brie Series then you will be familiar with Rytsar. Understanding what drives this passionate man is profound. This is a journey like no other! Congratulations Red Phoenix! You have hit it out of the park once again!!

The Russian Unleashed was a story that really went into a different direction than I thought it would, and it was a bonus because had I seen it coming, I may or may not have experienced it which would have been terrible. Rytsar is a man with a heartbreaking story that had me all up in my feelings throughout as we got to see him as a young man coming into his own. It's very intense, filled with serious angst, heat that had me a tad curious (even though I probably wouldn't ever submit to anyone) since it's got that kinky kicker. Rytsar is a hero who is very complex which kept me turning the pages at a very fast pace since I had to see it all play out in one sitting. I don't want to give anymore away because seriously, I went in blind, and it was the best thing I did when it came to The Russian Unleashed. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Russian Unleashed..... beloved Rytsar Durov, his character is by far my favorite. This book focuses more on the beginning or more like the continuation of how he became who he is. The reasoning and drive behind his persona, and ways of thinking. He’s a very multilayered man, that I never expected. You get to see him in a way that’s unbelievable, but wow. There is so much to say about this book, but in reality.... you have to read it. I just can’t explain it, without giving up the whole story. It’s that good, that I’d want to tell you all! Lol. You get to see some of our favorite Masters...... Sir and Brad. Even a bit of the Training Center. All in all, I’ve never been disappointed about Red’s stories. I read her books in just hours, and then wait sadly for the next one. :) Good job Red! Hit me right in the feels with Rytsar. Love that Russian. His passion and thrill for life, is awe inspiring.

Rytsar Durov is a man of passion. And in The Russian Unleashed, we find exactly why. This isn't about his sadistic desires, though we get a scene. This is about who Durov is at his very center and why. We learn more of his family dynamics at the moment of the final fracture that sets the brothers against Rytsar. Rystar Durov is the ultimate fantasy. Big, rough, sweet, rich, generous and loyal. He's also a dynamo between the sheets, but again, that's not the focus here. If you love the Brie series, you must read this because you already adore the Russian. If you're new to Red Phoenix and her wildly popular Submission series, this story delves into the background of a starring character. Read Rise of the Dominants if you want to get your hands on the sexy Russian quickly. You'll find yourself hooked. Again, you don't have to be into the BDSM lifestyle to enjoy these books. I'm not, but I love a good story, and that's exactly what Red Phoenix gives us in her books.

First person point-of-view. 5 BDSM scenes. While the cover model is attractive, he doesn't fit what I imagine Rytsar would look like from the description he's given in the series. He's not even wearing the ring his grandfather gave him. The ring is quite significant with Rytsar's character throughout the series and it's absence gives readers a clue that the author isn't focused on important details and character continuity. This is the 6th spinoff and 26th book in the 'Brie's Submission' "world" with the 27th currently available for preorder. The book is marked for 209 pages, the story covers only 186 of those pages for $3.99 plus tax US for the ebook. It is definitely overpriced for the quantity of pages. As for the quality of writing, I only found 4 typos. I am frustrated that the author has so many characters that she introduces but never gives a name. One example is the grandfather of the Durov family. He is a substantial character throughout most of the book and never given a first name. (This is quickly becoming a pet peeve of mine. Why add a character you don't intend to name? Is this just a way to up the word count?) The blurb doesn't seem to fit the actual story. The blurb states he has a secret but I didn't notice any significant secret revealed. So I guess it's still a secret? The only "secrets" I imagine the author referring to would be about the actual amount of his inheritance, the details of his parents individual deaths, the assassination of Zuyev or possibly what happened with Samantha. If it is in reference to Samantha, it stays a secret in this book but was revealed in a previous book in the series. The Bratva doesn't have their sights set on him. He isn't protecting the honor of the woman he loves. The woman he loves is dead and if he wanted to protect her honor he wouldn't be going to BDSM clubs and spending time with random submissives. Maybe the author meant "preserve the memory" of the woman he loves? This is NOT a love story. This is really a prequel to other parts of the series and shouldn't be sold in its current state unless marked as a prequel or unfinished work. This book can be read as a standalone and doesn't end with a cliffhanger. Though, in all reality, it isn't a standalone because of all of the characters and stories that are alluded to and unfinished throughout the pages. This author seems to drag out stories in a piecemeal fashion that is both frustrating and expensive. While this is a work of fiction the author introduces Pyotr Tchiakovsky, a very popular Russian composer, and then defamed him in the book on page 105. For that reason alone the author should reassess her goal in writing this story. Maybe the author should stick to fictional characters? I wanted to love this book because I really like Rytsar's character from the other books. Maybe if it didn't cost so much or the author actually finished each character's story in less than 3 books I would've enjoyed it more. If you're looking for a book with steamy scenes with a story that is pretty good this book is for you. If that's not what you're looking for you could absolutely skip this book and it wouldn't be missed from the series. This book really belongs in KU as a one time read and return. In our current economy it really isn't worth the price to buy it. Sorry. JP

The Russian Unleashed By Red Phoenix I have read ALL of Red's books and have been waiting patiently for Rystar's book on his early life. From the previous books you know his life hasn't been a walk in the park. Here we learn what happened the day his grandfather gave him the family ring and later his estate. His father's hatred, his brother's continued betrayal and how much the loss of his mother and his soul mate Tatianna changed his life. How his friends friends stood by him and helped him see he could make a difference in the world. His story will break your heart, make you cry yet lift you up. He can be caring yet a force to be reckoned with if you cross him. We get to see him in action when he visits the BDSM clubs in Russia and even a little out of the club. I enjoyed the story my only complaint would be it felt a little rushed and unfinished. I hope there will be another book that will let us know more. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Oh this was heartrending! I have been reading this series from the beginning and I am now even more in love with this awesome sadist. The things he has been thru, both with his family and others would break a lesser person and yet he still stands tall. Having dedicated friends is also a plus, I will admit. The dedication of Thane Davis is never to be discounted. He has saved Rytsar so many times, it explains the strong bond between the two men. I often wondered how Rytsar's brothers came to be so hostile to him, but now I know. I have great respect for how Rytsar deals with them. If you have not read the rest of this series, you should at least read The Russian Reborn first. I would, however, recommend you read Sir's Rise, and Master's Fate as well as The Russian Reborn. Or, you could start from the beginning. You will be as hooked as I am. :D

Once again, I am in awe of the books that Red Phoenix writes. This newest book, The Russian Unleashed, gives us so much insight into the young adult years of Rytsar Durov. If you were on the fence about this character, you will fall in love with him. If you were already a Rytsar fan, you will be blown away that much more with this story. Rytsar is larger than life, as always. And he's not afraid to face the world in his quest for justice. His passion to stop human trafficking surprised me. I knew he was against it. I didn't realize the extent he would go to protect the innocent. I wonder how his heart fits inside Rytsar's body because it is THAT big! Loved this story!

I feel bad, this is the second bad review I am giving this author but I need to be honest, this is just a short story and very choppy. Each chapter is like a short story and now you see some characters and then boom there gone like Brad Anderson, what happened to him, is he still roaming around Russia. And some of the dialogue was like a young person wrote it. I loved this set it but this book was very disappointing. And the cover did not describe Rytsar at all, where is the ring and no 20 year has a build like that

Rystar Durov is a beautiful, generous, tortured soul. At 21 years of age, he’s gone through things most people couldn’t in a few lifetimes. He’s a Durov, so he comes from a long line of great men, and understands what it truly means to be a Durov and head of the family. Picking up where The Russian Reborn Ends, we find Rystar back in Russia to tend to family business. Family obligations pull him in different directions, and both tore at my heart, and made me want to rip a few people to shreds. Rystar is indeed an old soul, and he relies on himself to see through some unbearable times, but he’s also not afraid to ask for help from those he trusts. Everything he does is done full throttle, be it love, work, revenge, and his exploits in the dungeon. I’m so in love with this sadist! There was a lot of serious topics covered, but I also loved to see Rystar in his entertaining element. He takes good care of his American friends, Thane and Brad, and is always the life of whatever party they attend. I love the strong, loyal friendship of these three different men. Their kinks vary, but make no mistake, they’re Dominants and proud of it. I didn’t want this story to end. I need more!

Wow......wow......wow!! I fall in love with this Russian with every book that is written. He is my favorite Dom. This book had my emotions on a roller coaster!! From smiles and laughter to tears of sorrow and happiness. You feel his love for Tatianna in every line that is written about her. His unfailing love, I might add!! He may be a sadist but he has a heart of gold!! In this book we see his trials and tribulations with his family and who he believes he is meant to be. The things he accomplishes in this book for girls he doesn't even know, gives me all the feels. Gah!!! I can not express how much I LOVED this book. I want more and more of Rytsar Durov!

I have always loved Rytsar. Hes a very sexy dominant with an amazing story to tell. This book helps fill in a lot of blanks about his story. You can read it as a stand alone but if you really want the full Rytsar experience, you need to read the others books that he is in. This book will tear at your heartstrings, make you laugh and make you cry. You will love the determination that he has.

Anton "Rytsar" Durov, the sadist with a heart of gold! Rytsar is no fool, his childhood was injustice personified, his early adult years wracked with tragedy and loss. Instead of taking his anger out on the world, he channels it into positives forces. Unfortunately, money brings enemies and Rytsar must overcome the foes who wish to bring him down. * If you've never read any of the Brie series, I highly recommend you read The Rise trilogy before this. While it's not necessary to read the Brie series to understand this story, I suggest it. I don't think I would've invested so much into the characters if I would've read the prequels first. The air of mystery created in the Brie series makes the reveal of the past that much more emotional and special.

This is a prequel book to much of the Brie series. It could be read as a standalone book but much of it will make more sense if you know Rytsar as the man he becomes first. Rytsar comes into his full power as a young man in this book. The sadist and dom better understood after this story. Also, how he came to inherit the full wealth of the Durov name, along with hidden responsibilities. Plus how he became the champion of many in need of championing. There is a lot of emotional roller coaster in these pages, angst and joy. Find how Rytsar is determined to live all his passions to the fullest measure every day.

I love Red Phoenix, the Brie's Submission series, and Rise of the Dominants series. Rytsar is one of my absolute favorite characters, so I was prepared to LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. I am sad that I just liked it instead of loving it. I had a hard time "hearing" Rytsar's voice. The first-person narratives sounded more like Thane to me, which caused some confusion. I loved the human trafficking story and his dedication to the rescued girls. He may be a sadist, but he has a tender heart. I already hated his brothers, but now I hate them even more, lol, so that aspect was spot on. It wasn't a bad read- don't get me wrong, but it wasn't near as good as I had hoped it would be. :(

Dragon Sadist Dom has his inheritance finally. Rytsar Anton Durov now has his inheritance and control over his family fortune. Time for vodka, women and whips. That is what every 21 year old does when they have lots of money. Well Rytsar shows you how he deals with all that money. What does he do? Read the book to see what he does. Rytsar has been the big teddy bear hiding behind the dragon for me and I fell in love with him on how he is with Brie and Hope. After reading this book he is even a bigger teddy bear. And what Ren Nosaka said to him once. "You are strong enough for whatever comes next." And that statement is so true for him.

I think this might be the last Brie’s Submission book I read. Rytsar is by far my favorite character, and this book fell flat. The writing was choppy and the story didn’t flow like some of Red’s earlier books. The characters felt two dimensional. I love so much of this author’s work. Definitely take the time to read the series. It is fantastic. Maybe you will feel differently than me about this particular book.

I am an avid Red Phoenix fan and have read almost all of her books. I was so excited when she announced that she was writing The Russian Unleashed. I was not disappointed at all! I was already madly in love with Rytsar Durov and getting to read his backstory just made me fall that much harder for him. He is a sadist, yes. But in this book we learn how he became the man he is today. There is so much to this man. His tortured past. His difficult family ties. I laughed at times. I cried A LOT! But most of all I couldn't put the book down until I read every last word. A MUST read for sure!

Initially, I fell in love with Rytsar inBrie’s Submission Series. However, I fell in DEEPER love with him while reading The Russian Unleashed. (You do not have to read Brie’s Submissiin Series to read this book - but it’s a great series!) so many different layers to this Dom! He loves as hard as he plays! Growing up with the responsibilities of his family on his shoulders (in so many ways) definitely shaped him into the man he became! Get ready to explore so many different feelings while reading the his book! Red Phoenix did a phenomenal job bringing this Russian to life!

This book is superb....not a dull moment from page one to the end. Some truly beautifully emotional moments as well that had my heart soaring. This delicious Russian sadist has a heart of gold but is also a force of nature! Rytsar Durov is like a hurricane in a bottle! 🌪😬 Such an excellent addition to the Brie’s Submission series. Red Phoenix you did not disappoint whatsoever! Thank you. 💗💖❤️

I love the Brie series deeply. Rystar is a beloved and complex character. It’s nice to know more of his background as to what makes him tick. Unfortunately this reads more as a short story than a novel. It left me wanting more. Don’t misunderstand it is a good read just a bit short.

Rystar is a very complicated young man in this book. From the abusive childhood, to the cruel death of his soulmate or the murder of his beloved mother. I was brought to tears several times. Even as a sadist Rystar has a tender side that not many people see. But he is not a man to be crossed. With his fist, power or endless money he will get his revenge and get justice for the weak. I just fell in love with my Russian Dom even more after this book.

So glad you have given us your in-depth book on Rytsar Durov. I now realize the complexity of his life's journey. The evil he had to survive, the man he becomes, his complete devotion to his friends, and his loyalty to Thane. Thane will always be dearest to my heart, and of course Brie, but thank you Red for making me care more about Rytsar! Outstanding book and much appreciated. Must read!

What can you say but, Rystar is so powerful and confident. How can you NOT fall in love with his story. I felt as if I was there watching it all as Rystar was unleashing everything that was holding him back. Proves that even the strongest men are haunted by their own demons. For as much as weve learned of Rytsar so far, nothing could possibly prepare readers for this journey into his past, his experiences and motivations propelling him into hois future...the story carries the reader through a symphony of emotions as we explore Rytsar's world- from jovial shots shared with comrades to salacious adventures, just like Rytsar's search for inner solace- this story will leave you uplifted and craving more

I have one question. How do you pronounce Rystar? Is it Rye (like the bread) Star? Seriously, I loved this book. He is one of my favorite characters and has been since his introduction. "Kidnapping" Brie was brilliant. Getting to know more about him a a pleasure even though S/M is not my thing when it comes to kink.

This book is amazing. I give it 5 stars . Rytsar has a troubled past. This book shows some of the realities of it. From his father's hatred to his brothers betrayal and his love of his life. To his friends that stand beside him both Russian and American. The world is what you make gospodin. Enjoy your life.

Rystar Durov, one of her most complex, sexy characters, comes to vivid life, and many questions a reader had of him and his past are answered in this page turner. I couldn’t put it down, and I can’t wait to read her next book. Once you read her books, you are hooked for more to come! Thank you, Red, for one of your best books ever!

I so totally loved this book!! I fell in love with Ryster all over again! Sigh.. This book has so much emotion and heartache and love that you can feel it as you read. Some mystery and suspense mixed with plenty of hot steamy BDSM scenes just makes this book perfect and exciting to read.I definitely recommend this book!!

For those of us who love Rytsar and can't get enough of his story, Red Phoenix has once again treated us with more of this lucious, sexy Russian sadist. More trials and tribulations are in store but nothing he can't handle. His love for Tatiana is eternal and you will be asking what is next for him, Thane and Brad.

What can I say, another great book. Learning about Rystar's history, his worthless brothers, and his passions have been a treat. All these things make him the man and dominate he is in the Brie series. He works hard and plays harder even from the young age of 21. He is always a force of nature!!

Keeping in line with Brie's family. After the Rise of the Dominants, this appears to be a middle piece that connects life before Brie. It has brought Rystar into a full journey as well as bringing along another insight to the Brie's submission series. I loved it. Enjoy!

I love that we get a glimpse of a young Rystar and what snapshot to the man we know and love. Also in the story we see the strong bond between Rystar, Thane, and Brad. I love all these characters before this story and now it's deeper if that could be possible.

Rytsar Durov is one of Red Phoenix's more dynamic characters. As Rytsar grows he like the lhoenix rises from the ashes of defeat to the reborn man of strength and life. Must read progression of how life transforms Rytsar as a young man to strengthen his old soul

I love Rytsar, he is my favorite character in the series. Russian Unleashed gives you a bigger picture of who he is and what drives him. I absolutely love this book. It's a must read and this has bumped up to my favorite Red Phoenix book I've read so far!

Very good book of Ryster's young life and the betrayal of his family. It was always a ruff life for him, yet his grandfather recognized his worth to place him as the boss after his death.

This book is amazing. The detail and description the back story - all add to the entire Brie series. Knowing what came before and what's going on behind the scenes makes for a much more gripping tale - one that continues to enthrall and reel in the reader. Red Phoenix never disappoints and always brings more to the story than the reader expects. I couldn't put this down. Have read it a second time already!

As soon as this book hit my kindle at midnight - I didn't sleep until I was done. The book gave us a look into Rytsar's past and how he became who he is now in Bri's Submission series. It did not disappoint. Made me love him even more!

The dialog is elementary and the plot can be found in any other book. But it is genuinely the dialog that is painful. He calls everyone Comrade as if it is still the 1970's. Really a disappointment.

I loved reading from Rystar's point of view!

This book is the latest addition to be read alongside the Brie series by Red Phoenix, but it begins and ends before Brie's time in the series. This is a young Rytsar that appears in this book. He is in college and attends with Thane (Sir). And of course he wants to take Thane with him on his adventures, and this book/adventure is no different. I've always like Rytsar, although he's not my favorite character, because he is always forthright and up front about what he wants and needs. No hiding anything about this dominant. Red Phoenix wrote him as a strong, dominant sadist, and has developed him steadily through the books. No doubt about his leanings. The book was a wonderful journey into a young Rytsar's background and life. The books follows a lot of sadness for him and a reader gets to see what makes Rytsar into what we see in the Brie series. The only thing I found hard to get around is that these young men were under 21 at the time or close to it. In most cases, in the US anyway, they would not have been allowed in the BDSM clubs, underground or not, because of their age. I wasn't allowed in them, way back when, until I was over 21, and believe me, they checked to make sure. It might be different elsewhere, I have no clue (I know its different in certain places in Northern Europe because I've been there). I finally had to let it go, and just ignore their age at the time of the book, otherwise, it was going to bug me. :-) What can I say? The mind works in mysterious ways. Red Phoenix already knows this, and knows it is nothing against her book when I find something I can't put my mind to. Actually, the the opposite, because I know the more I don't understand, the more I will seek the information. I want to say a couple of things about Red's writing of the Brie series. When I picked up the first Brie book, it was by accident (actually it was because I liked the name Red Phoenix). I found the dialogue to be stilted and not at all natural. And I had that conversation with the author at one point in the last couple of years. But something has happened between Book 1 and Book 17 (or 20, or whatever number, there are just too many for me to keep track of). The dialogue is improving, it has become Character-Specific, which is making the books more personal and more enjoyable. By that I mean that Sir and Master Anderson, for example, use different words to express the same feelings in different parts of the books, making them a unique character in the book. Kudos! That tells me that Red Phoenix is not only serious about her craft, she is also serious about her books. My best recommendation: The book is a standalone, but it really won't mean as much without the books that came before. Yes, you could read this book as an introduction to Rytsar, but I'll bet anyone doing that will want to go back and read it again should they read the Brie series, as this book fills in the blanks. An enjoyable read, well worth the reader's time. My apology for this ARC review being late. No excuses, just lost track of time! Pick up the book. If you are a fan of Red's writing, if you like BDSM as subject matter, and if you like a heartwarming story of a young man who suffered far too many losses but came out on top, you'll enjoy this book.

I have been in love with Rytsar Durov since I was first introduced to him. He is undoubtedly my favorite sadist! In fact, he sets the standard and blows me away in every book. I never imagined a sadist would have such a huge capacity for loving others, and the woman who has won his heart....she holds something unbelievably precious. I feel like I've been waiting forever to get a closer glimpse of one of my favorite characters in this series, and it did not disappoint! Talk about a tear jerker. My heart is overflowing with emotion for this man. In another wonderful book, Red affirms exactly why it is impossible to resist our beloved Rytsar. From the age of 21 to present day, we learn what makes him tick. A captivating story that is full of the mystery that surrounds a man like Rytsar and the family he comes from. Bonus...if you've ever wanted to explore Russia, you are in for an adventure as well as a history lesson of sorts. The story is so genuine and well written that you actually feel like you are walking through the streets of Russia along with Rytsar at times in his life. We also get to spend time with Sir Thane, Brie and Brad Anderson which always makes me a happy reader. If you've been keeping up with this series, then you must know that a man like Rytsar has become a sadist for a reason. You also know that he is loyal to a fault, kind, loving, and immensely "talented". This story won't let you down in that department either....it is hot, hot, hot I tell you! 🔥👏 You'll need tissues to get through this one, but you'll also need ice water and a fan. Rytsar is indeed UNLEASHED! And it's GLORIOUS! 😉

The Russian Unleashed by Red Phoenix. Let me start off by saying I love it. This is a 5+ Stars Read. Red Phoenix did her thing. This book takes you back to when Rytsar was a young man at the age of 21. The way the book is written it made me very emotional and the deeper it delved into his life the more I felt a deeper connection to him. As a main character I have always loved his heart but this book made me understand more of who he is and why. I loved what his grandfather did but his father and brothers deserved all that happens to them. His loss of his mother and soulmate broke my heart even more because it was like I could feel his pain. I love who he is and the fact that he never changes. I was angry at no matter how hard he tried to do the right thing. The tried to break him. But he found a way to make it through. I love his brotherhood with Thane Davis and his friendship with Brad Anderson and Titov. I will definitely be reading this book again and have my tissue on hand because it brought to tears so many times especially when the strong, sadist that he is had tears in his eyes. The more I learn about him I know why he feels he only had one great love and he honors her everyday. But I want him to have another special love of his own.

I mean, with a family like that who needs enemies. Right?? I'm telling you right now, you better hang on to your hearts as you read this deeper dive into his story. My emotions were all over the place and so many times I wished I could reach into my Kindle and slap a character or two, or three. Plenty of steam too so have those towels ready also. Coming into his family's wealth at 21 sets us up for the man we know he becomes. With great wealth comes much responsibilities. His brothers do nothing but whine about the inheritance going to Rytsar. Just wait until you see what he does with it. We all know how the muses work through Red and this time they were working overtime!! So many emotions, family conflicts, sadness over his lost love and relief when he was able to help others. That's the Rytsar we all know and love. You do NOT want to miss this book!! Enjoy the ride, I sure did.

Rytsar has been my favorite character all the way through the Brie submission series and when Red announced she was giving him his story I was over the moon. Now if you have read any of Brie’s story you know that he is a sadist with a flare for life. While I was surprised at the lack of bdsm and hit and sexy scenes in this book, I was moved to tears and have fallen even more I love with the big vodka drinking man! This story is so full of emotion and love and a sides it Rystar you just don’t see. His struggles should drowned him but is persistence go over come and make changes for the better warms me to my toes. Serious superb story telling. And I hope we see more of his journey and his successes in ridding the world of injustice and making sure those who are beat down rise up from the ashes. It’s just a beautiful story. Well done Red Phoenix! Note. It does contain triggers such as human trafficking, suicide and spanking (just not as much as normal lol)

Every book written about Rytsar helps me understand him a little better. He’s lived a life no human should live, and lost more than anyone should. He survived abuse for many years and lost his love. I have a greater understanding of him. In the Brie series, I see a softer side of him with Hope. I love that side of him. He’s a bit harsh for me on the Dom side. But, then, I’m not a masochist. What I really want for him is to have his own woman. That’s all. This is another wonderful Red Phoenix Book. It’s a great read! I recommend it for all who love Red, and for those who love Rytsar.

This story is about a young Ryster, who is 21 yrs old. Restart heads to Russia for his grandfathers reading of the will. His older brothers are of course up in arms about what’s happened. Ryster realizes that he will have to have great strength to become the leader he is meant to be. While he is in Russian he visits a few of the older BDSM underground facilities he use to frequent. Many of his old friends remember him and welcome him back with open arms. Ryster is put in a position to lend a helping hand one day. Ryster has the means to help and the ability. Although helping will put him in danger with the Russian Bratva mob, he isn’t 100% he should help at first but of course we know he will. We do see a lot of grief & pain from Ryster’s grief from losing his one and only. I hurt for him and his loss. He is so young, but has an old soul.

I have only read one other book by this author and it was a smashing hit so I decided to give this one a try and I loved it. The story was emotionally charged and eye opening and I loved every minute of it! Sensitive and thought-provoking topics that are usually glossed over in these kind of stories this author tackles them head on. The reader feels the emotions right along with Rystar- lust, heartbreak, betrayal and finally happiness. There is a lot of steamy, kinky aspects of the story that definitely kept you on your toes. I can’t wait for more books from this author!

While this could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend the entire series from the beginning. This book is all about a young Rytsar and his journey after losing the 2 most important women in his life. It gives you a look into why he is the way he is today. This book was a story of loss, triumph and friendship...but it was also steaming hot. A young Thane and Brad also make appearances. Even though Rytsar is a sadist, he is the most lovable sadist you will ever meet! This was so well written and addressed some very serious topics in a very real and relatable way. If you are new to Red Phoenix, I highly recommend starting at the beginning with Brie to fully appreciate the depth of this story, you won't regret it!

Oh how I've waited for this book...Rystar has always been my favorite from the beginning of the Brie series. I absolutely loved getting a look into the mind and heart of young Rystar. A man that was still so desperate for love and affection from those that he thought mattered and some that truly did. There was a tidal wave of emotions in this book, from holy hot and steamy, all the way to the emotional scenes with Thane and his grandfather. The dungeon scenes in this book were off the charts wow! Beautiful! The only part I was disappointed in was that it seemed to end abruptly. Otherwise, loved Rystar's story...thank you Red! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I totally enjoyed discovering the background that made Rytsar the man he is. It was an exciting, yet also surprising tale of unbelievable love, devotion, and betrayal. The sex and dominance was there, as you can always count on Red for yummy erotic scenes. But this book was so much more. Deeply passionate and caring above all, with a twisted revelation that blindsided me. An unforgettable read that reveals more about the character built into Rytsar from an early age and how it pervades his entire life for decades. It is fast paced, intimately detailed, and definately hot in all the right places. A must read for lovers of Brie's Submission series and BDSM fans in general.

The Russian Unleashed brings us Rystar's story. It's a story full of heartbreak and loss. But it's also full of friendship, love and triumph. The Russian Unleashed gives us a better understanding of what formed Rystar into the man he became. It's a very emotional story and was, at times, difficult to read. Of course, as you would expect from Red Phoenix, it's chock full of steam and heat as well as lots of kinky scenes right out of the gate. The only complaint I have is that for me some of the Russian parts felt off, especially the names and the way characters spoke to each other. This probably won't bother most readers, so it's a pretty minor detail.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Before the story even begins, I loved and really appreciated the translated list of Russian words used in the book. My favorite part is the scene in Novy Soyuz. My favorite line: “Knowing I can have anything I want makes me desire material things less. There’s something about fighting to make your way in the world that makes a man appreciate it more.” And that ending - Wow.

Red Phoenix has the unerring ability to both honestly portray the emotions of her characters, and to evoke those same emotions in her readers. This is the first book of a series based on Rystar Durov, sadist. But that is only one descriptive of a man who has as many layers as his mother's Medovik ( honey cake). He is a man of many passions and at the core a heartbreaking loss. He is given great power, and he chooses to use it to honor his love. But at every time he takes a step to the light, the darkness intervenes, Rytsar is the embodiment of his family's crest...a dragon who guards those he loves fiercely. I look forward to enjoying more layers of the medovik that is Rystar.

This is a voluntary and honest review for an advanced copy. Rytsar........the sadist with a huge, huge heart and is generous to a fault to those he loves. He is loyal to his friends.......but just don't cross him and don't ever forget who and what he is. How much can one person take? To lose his one true love, his beloved mother, abused and betrayed by his own family. All this and he was only 22 by the end of the book. I read this in one go, stayed up till the early hours to finish it. This series is very addictive and I thoroughly enjoyed this book....but....i just wanted more!

The Russian Unleashed is a the beginning of Rytsar’s life after college. It is filled with drama and pleasure and a glimpse into what has made to man who he is. We get to experience wonderful foods and culture of Russia and the the decadence of a dungeon. I truly appreciated the Glossary of Russian words and phrases at the beginning and referred to it often. With a family like Rystar’s I can see why Thane is so important to him. We get Thane and Brad Anderson in this book also. I truly enjoyed this new addition letting us learn more about the men who love Brie.

Red Phoenix is by far one of my favorite authors. I have enjoyed all of her prior books but I dare say this one is my absolute favorite. Rystar Durov is a man that fantasies are made of and he is my go to book boyfriend each time. He is a man that loves and cares deeply with a haunted past that makes him the man he is today. This book will have you on the edge of your seat with sexual tension as well as tears falling. This is a beautifully written story of A man (quite a man) who loves and is loved but faces grief and lost. You do not want to miss this one. A must if you are on Brie's journey. A great book to begin a fabulous journey with.

I received an advance copy for my honest review. This book is amazing! We learn more about Rytsar beginning with him inheriting the family fortune. He is sooo passionate about human trafficking after loosing Tatiana,and will not be stopped when it comes to saving people. You will laugh and cry and be surprised. Even treated with some Rytsar passionate scenes. I love Red Phoenix and her muses especially this Russian! Great book!!

Let me begin with how much I love Red Phoenix. I have read all her books, and I can’t get enough. This book tells us how Rystar became who he is today, from the beginning. This story helps us with filling in the gaps of Ryatars life’s from the other books. Rystar is definitely one of my favorites besides Sir of course. It can be read as a stand-alone. Get ready for some Rystar unleashed. You won’t be disappointed.

We finally get a look into the Russian that we all love. We get to see how he became the amazing person he we all know him to be. I've been waiting for this story for what feels like forever. In this book, He is out of college and dishing out pain the only way he knows how. We also get to see some of Sir Thane and Mr. Brad Anderson. This story pulls at the heart strings.I would definitely recommend this story.

All your questions about who is Rystar gets answered in this book. This book tells you of his journey, struggles and his promise to himself. He may be a sadist, but he is one with a huge heart and strong conviction. If you haven’t read Brie’s series, I strongly encourage you to do so, you will not regret it. If you like Rystar before, you will LOVE him now. A definite must read!

This is a throw back book. We get an inside as to how Ryster become the aristocrat that we love. His past is painful and difficult to read at times but we understand the man better. While I like learning about their past I'm longing for this Russian to get his HEA!!! If anyone deserve it it's him. I received a copy of this book for a honest review.

I love Rystar, he is so sexy and this story doesn't disappoint. It fills in some of the reasons why he is who he is today. Although it can be read as a stand alone, you'll have more back story if you read the other books in the series first. This book will make you happy, make you sad, and pull on your heartstrings. I think this is the best one in the Brie series yet. More than the hot hot sex scenes, the story of Rytsar is amazing. Here we get a further look into what events have helped to shape him into the person he is now. It also helps us understand his loyalty to those he has allowed into his inner circle, his passion, joy and even sorrow. A must read.

Red Phoenix has done it again! Another truly wonderful book. The way she puts together a story is inspired. The more I read these books the more I want more of them! This book is a great look back at how a horrific tragedy can make for an unwitting hero, I am humbled by the way he can move on and hold onto the past so lovingly.

Red Phoenix has out did yourself once again. I loved this book it gave me a new found respect for Rystar so now he is my 2nd favorite character beside Master Anderson of course. If you haven't read the series then start with book 1 and take the rollcoaster ride all the way through to the end of this book

Red never ceases to tear at my heart! My favorite Russian makes me laugh, cry and burn! I love that Red went more into Rytsar's past so we can understand why he is the way he is. His heart is so kind yet his desires are the opposite. This story will have you heart in knots and your blood boiling!

While this book can stand alone, connaisseurs of Red Phoenix will appreciate the additional insight into what made Rytsar the man he is. We find out much more about his family, his early business decisions, betrayal, friendship, and above all love. Another great addition to the series!

Red Phoenix does it again...go back in time and get to know Rytsar and what he went through in his early years. A lot of questions get answered and plenty of hot and sexy scenes. Fall in love with Rytsar all over again. Couldn't put it down. Cannot wait for the next book!

I always love to read this books. To find out what is behind the characters and why they act they way they do. This one does not disappoint. Rystar has been through so much and still loves fiercely even with his broken heart. He is protective and loyal to those who befriend him and change his life going forward. There are lots of steamy things in this book as usual but it’s more than just that. I feel like I know they personally they way the story pulls you in. Can’t wait till the next one.

This was another great book. I love Rytsar and I really hate seeing him suffer from the death of his soulmate. I have a hate for his brothers and I can see why he calls Thane his brother. I can't wait to read about more of the friends story.

From start to finish your going to need tissue and a towel. This whole book is an adventure. You learn so much, not only about the characters themselves but also about Russia it’s amazing. Red has out done herself again with weaving a story of friendship, family and everlasting love. I have fallen more in love with the characters than I ever though possible!

Take a trip down memory lane with young Rytsar. If you are new to this series or a long time fan, you are going to love learning more about the events that shaped our favorite sadist into the man he is today.

Man oh man! I've always loved Rylstar, but this book...I am at a loss for words. It has all the feels!!! It is definitely a must read for anyone who loves this author!!!

The Russian Unleashed is Rystar Durov’s earlier story, before Brie (which is an incredible series). He is 21 and just coming into his own. He is “young, rich and powerful”! And WHAT A STORY he has to tell! There have been several books by Red Phoenix that has described Rystar and as always I still love this Sex on a stick man! And YES, I will take a “fine vodka with a side of sadism” from Rystar! He is now out of college. He is a sadist and gladly distributes pain when he can. I love that Sir Thane and Brad Anderson both play a part in this book. Red Phoenix has written another book that I could barely put down! I am always excited when I see there is another story that she has written! I can’t wait to see who is next in her writings!

This is a most beautifully written story about a young Russian man named Rytsar Durov, who had a very difficult upbringing by a father who was a monster and suffered tragic losses. Our amazing author shows us how this passionate man realizes what a great responsibility the huge inheritance his grandfather leaves him and uses it to find his purpose in life and to honor those he lost. He is a dominant who has great respect for women and will do whatever he can to help a woman in danger. I am in awe of this author's work. Red gives us characters with such depth, strength, and compassion. Characters such as Sir, Brad, and some from the Training Center add so much to this story. This is a captivating story with so much to it, including heartbreak, heat, and mystery. It will blow you away.

Over the course of the Brie's Submission series we've all fallen for Rystar Durov. Red Phoenix has given us glimpses of how Rystar's life has played out. He's lusty, egotistical, funny, provocative, protective, fiercely loyal and sadly haunted. This book is meant to be read alongside the Brie series by Red Phoenix, although Brie never appears in this book. This focuses on Rytsar during the time that he comes of age and takes over the head of the Durov family. We have learned things about Rytsar during other books, but this is a deeper journey into his background and life. We learn more about the prior events in his life including the loss of his one true love and how they have shaped the man he has become. Although you could read this as a standalone (and you may want to since there are so many Brie books to catch up on), you of course will want to go back and learn more about all the characters in this series by reading all the books. I have really enjoyed this book and Red Phoenix has done it again with Rytsar. He is such a deep character and shows just because he is a sadist doesn’t mean he doesn’t love with everything he is and is loyal and kindhearted and a truly good friend. I love the relationship between Rytsar and Thane and now understand how they are so close in Brie’s Submission storyline, and why Thane wanted Rytsar at Brie’s first auction. His love for those close to him now and in his past is heartwarming. I started this book today around lunchtime in UK and just finished it at 02:30 just couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for Her Sweet Surrender just can’t believe I have to wait until September, well all good things come to those who wait. I recommend this book however if you haven’t already you need to start with The Rise of The Dominants (Sir Davis Story) then Brad’s and so on to get to know them from when they first meet, you won’t be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this book it gave myself the reader a deeper understanding of the complex character that is Rytsar. A compelling look back into the past of the sexy Russian Rytsar, and what made him the man he is today. The pain and heartbreak that he endured as a young man, and how through his strength and determination he was able to right some of the wrong doings created by his father and people like him. This was a powerful and at times emotional story that gripped me from the very beginning. There were times it broke my heart and times it had me laughing at the antics of the characters in the story. Being able see and feel things through the character is a sign of a well written and interesting book which this was. Now through reading his story I have gone from liking the character Rytsar to loving him. I would recommend this book.

What can I write about this amazing book?....Pain and Passion...Why do we love Rystar?....He is a godlike presence in a world of immense cruelty and horror...he brings in a love of life that wants to break through the dark things in life to a beautiful light...a must read...

I read this in one sitting, I have read all Brie’s submission so very familiar with Rytsar, l have also read when Rytsar, Thane and Brad were at college, this story came between college and The training centre, it filled in some of Rytsar life In between, I enjoyed it but it lacked the excitement of the other books, I am looking forward to Bries next book no.21, already ordered! X

An other susses full book, I have read all your books and can’t wait for the next instalment. I have followed Brie and Thane and especially Rystar, keep hoping that one of your books makes the 3 a permanent item a unit like they are at times when they all together. Rystar is my favourite he is the loner, the hard one but deep down he deserves to be happy and loved and so much more. What can I say I loved this book it made me laugh and cry at times. Hot and informative about the much loved Russian. I can't help but wish he could find love; like Thane found when he got out his own way and claimed Brie. After such a tragic past, he deserves some real happiness to offset the bad. Steamy scenes and an attitude to life that makes me smile. We all need a little Durov in our lives XOXO
