The Butcher of the Bay: Part II (The Butcher Duet Book 2)

J Bree has delivered quite possibly one of my favorite sequels for a duet. She has taken the last book and created this one to be better in every way, shape, and form. More action, more romance, and of course more blood. She has written the perfect book to tie it into Lips’ Hannaford Prep stories as well. You can’t help but love Illi and Odie’s story. This one is picture perfect and makes your heart expand after reading about their turbulent love story. It picks up where the last BOTB left off. I love how you get to see Lip’s character and her involvement with Illi take off. It really helps paint the perfect picture for them. It establishes why they have so much respect and love for each other. It’s also refreshing to see Illi seek his revenge on everyone who wronged Odie. Just a testament to their love. The characters in here have gone through emotional turmoil. It’s rectifying to see bad actions are punished and there’s no one more fit or qualified for that position than the Butcher of the Bay. You will fall in love with their story all over again. I highly recommend this spectacular sequel. Everything about it was perfect!

This duet was absolutely perfect and I just love how J Bree is writing this world and characters. She is building this amazing world that is so interconnect but each character is so unique and full of charisma. Even the villains have incredible backstories with such interesting life histories. I also enjoyed how she went back in time from the Hannaford Prep series to give us all the details of Odie, Illi, and the Wolf from the beginning. I loved learning everything I did about these characters and how they met and became the tight crew they are. I also really liked that she provided us so much on the Jackal. It’s was fascinating knowing he’s always been a psycho. After finishing this book I can say I absolutely heart the heck out of Illi! I loved the entire backstory on his and Odie’s lives. Granted what Odie had to face was soul destroying but she has a backbone of steel. With Illi’s help she was able to overcome all of the horrible ways people in her life failed her. I am so excited to see what J Bree does with the rest of the characters!!

But I LIVED for the moments where Illi and Lips were bonding and he was opening his world to try to help care for her. I loved that in between this story of Illi and Odie, their friendship with Lips was solidified and strengthened. Despite the age difference, they found family and I’m here for that. I was wrecked by part 1 of this duet and I was so pleased to find how things were getting wrapped up in part 2. The meeting with Odie’s father... priceless. I will continue to visit the Bay (and wherever Jenna takes us) because these characters and these stories are just too good to let go of.

I only thought the first book was ok. It didn't even really get good until about halfway through or so. This book was near about the opposite, it was only somewhat recent maybe for the first half (if that) before it was just repetitive and boring. I actually had to put it down for a few months just to get away from feeling like I was reading the exact same scene over and over and over again. I really wanted to finish it though because I intended to read Hannaford Prep. But after this one.... goodness I just hope it's better than this. The first book was decent(ish); this book was just a letdown from there. The storyline is the only thing it had going for it really - the Butcher is going to punish every single person who took advantage of his girl. Sadly, it just doesn't read as well thought out. Yes, the Butcher hacks people up. We got it. Yes, the Butcher is apparently ridiculously rich and will pay any sum to get the intel he wants. We got that the first 20 times we read it. Yes, the Butcher wants to eat Odie up and devour her for days. As much as I thoroughly enjoy a hot $ex scene, it felt like I was reading the same scene, practically verbatim, over and over. We got it already. If the scene doesn't move the story along, it's not needed, it's just extra smut. I'm all for erotica books, don't get me wrong, but that's not [supposed] to be what that is, so for it to read like one.... it got boring. I read this duet for the story, not the $ex. Why add it just for the sake of adding it? That's what erotica is for. Move the story along please. Shoot, take out half of those and both books could have been combined into one decent story. The characters, though never truly believable, had zero real character growth. The Butcher definitely had none. Odie had dinne on paper, her healing from her encounters, but it wasn't the most believable of growths. It too left a lot to be desired. I just expected a lot more, especially considering how people raved about these books. I'm left unsure if I want to continue with author because I was initially really looking forward to some of her other books based on rave reviews. I just don't know....

I finally sat myself down and had a talk with myself about putting my big girl panties on and reading the Butcher series. I was so afraid it was going to be too dark and result in more misery than enjoyment. I'm relieved to say I was wrong. It was dark, but it was also highly enjoyable. Book one was very focused on what Odie went through and the start to her relationship with Illi after he rescues her. Book two continues with her rehabilitation from the trauma she experienced, and furthers the beautiful relationship between Illi and Odie, but what I especially loved was the latter third of the book where we get some significant glimpses into the events that Illi puts into motion to save Lips. Things we see fully transpire in HP that were actually intentionally triggered by Illi long before they happen in HP. It was down right fascinating. I also happen to be reading Avery's series right now and it was so interesting to see how Bingley came to be in the Crow's basement years later when Avery finds him in there. All these little breadcrumbs are so fascinating! Seeing everything Illi actually played a hand in behind the scenes has me feeling major respect for him. Holy crap J. Bree this story just kept getting more intense and more addicting. I lost so much sleep just trying finish because I had to finish. I had to know what happened. This book was AMAZING!! Odette was tramautized and that ran deep. So deep that she was not really sure why the Butcher was helping her. She was always waiting for the bottom to fall out and him to decide that she truly was used goods and for him to kick her out leave her with truly nothing and no one. Because no one does all he did for nothing right?!? He treated her like she was a queen and never expected anything and she couldn't figure him out. Then more time they spent the closer they got and she started to depend on him. Mon Monstre was healing her and he was going to kill everyone that had ever her and put their hearts in jars for her. This made her feel joyed to know that her cared for her that much. She fell for him as much as he had fallen for her and her walls started to come down. The fires that were unleashed were infernos!! There attraction and love could burn down a forest. He made good on every promise and he showered her with the jars of every person that had ever wronged her. If you are looking for a book with gore, action, betrayl, vengeance, love like never before, some saucy saucy scenes and the best monster protector known to man this is your book! You will not be sorry you have this series a try!!, ❤️

Odie is gone, the message 'The Jackal Sends His Regards' in red across the window view. The Jackal has take his Odie, blood will be spilled. The Wolf answers his call and finds her location. What follows is a bit of a bloodbath, a 'rescuer' that is also a predator will be no more. One thing is certain, Odie didn't go quietly or easily so they both fear for her life. We learn some interesting things about Harbin through Roxas, and this is the first time we hear the possibility of a war with the Chaos Demons MC. A shopping trip with Odie makes me smile, and she also dives into her painting once again. This time she feels the need to purge her past. Her live is with Illi now and she likes it just fine. Illi has a list already of those who hurt her, now she puts faces to the names. We see more of Colt Graves and the Devil too. Such an interest group of folks. If you haven't read Hannaford Prep you really should to understand some of the dynamics here that are so very important. Illi works on his list, and Odie travels with him to visit her home in France as well. A nice honeymoon of sorts. I really loved the telling of Illi and Odie's story, perfect for the two of them.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Getting to know the Butcher/Illi and Odie in the Hannaford Prep series I really wanted to know more about them, more background and WOW!! The violent torture that Odie lived through was so heart wrenching I was crying and my heart pounding at the angst and suspense. Illi never gives up looking for her and the unbridled love and passion he has for her was so touching and overwhelming, knowing the demons he carries and the monster inside of him, to see him be able to love so unconditionally was, well, kinda beautiful. The way the author describes the characters and the scenes were so descriptive is was erie and at times sent chills up my spine. I LOVED every minute of it! The sex scenes were off the charts smokin HOT! I really liked how we get to find out how Lips/the Wolf came to know and get involved with Illi and Odie. This duet was so essential in pulling everything from the Hannaford Prep series together. I EXTREMELY RECOMMEND THIS DUET AND HANNAFORD PREP SERIES TO EVERYONE!!

I love a good revenge arc! Illi and Odie are absolute perfection! I loved them in the other books revolving around Mounts Bay, but seeing their story is amazing. Illi is one of the most feared men in the Bay, but with Odie, he is the complete opposite. He will do whatever it takes to keep her happy, even if they are organs instead of roses. Odie is finally coming out of her shell and taking her life back. I love seeing her overcome her past and come into her own. Illi takes his time with her and lets her decide when she is ready. They are just so cute and I want to squeeze them! If you haven't started any books from this world, I suggest starting with Just Drop Out, Book 1 in Hannaford Prep. This whole world is phenomenal and the world building and character building that the author has done is pure perfection. Hands down, top 5 all time favorite series.

The conclusion to Illi and Odie’s story was everything I hoped it would be. I love seeing Illi go into beast mode for his woman. Odie is a true Queen. I love her so much. To see what she has been through in both books, and seeing her find her strength again was beautiful. Getting to see how Lips’ relationship with Illi and Odie began was heart warming. Their scenes together alway hit me right in the feels. I also enjoyed getting more information and different interactions with different key players in Mounts Bay. I loved Illi in Hannaford Prep and was so glad when J Bree gave him and Odie two books. I loved getting into the mind of the butcher and the woman he would bleed the world for. It was a wild ride, and I can’t wait for J Bree has in store for us next!

The world of Mounts Bay will consume your thoughts once you jump into this crazy and amazing world. I have been OBSESSED with these characters and their stories since the first book came out and I just can’t ever get enough. This duet for Johnny and Odie is bloody AF and absolutely effing perfect. I love how Odie finally gains her confidence and strength back in this book and how exactly Illi helps her gain that back. After all she had gone through in book 1, this book wraps up all those loose ends exactly the way Odie deserves. The best part of the end of this book is that it isn’t the end. It flows perfectly into the beginning of the Hannaford Prep books and I am super excited to be able to continue on reading about this one of a kind world. So if you haven’t yet experienced what these books have to offer, than you are legit missing out! Come over to the dark side! Trust me, you won’t regret it 😉

Listen... my all time favorite book trope has to be revenge. Give me ALL the revenge plots. And Butcher of the Bay part 2? It’s the ultimate revenge. The woman he loves has been taken and wronged, and Illi refuses to stop until he brings Odie all the men’s hearts in jars. Literally. Their love for each other is so strong, yet so sweet and I swoon at how much Illi loves her and would burn the world to ashes to protect her. The other best part about this book? Illi’s relationship with Lips. I absolutely adored getting to see how their friendship really started (clearly it started and is rooted in violence and I love that). They are the definition of that chosen family, ride or die friendship and it is just SO GOOD. Once again, all the stars, take my money, forever a one click author for me!!

This was an amazing conclusion to Illi and Odie's story but I also loved this as an extended prologue for Hannaford Prep as it gives us insight in Lips's life before attending the prestigious academy and in this book you even get a partly overlapping timeline with the Hannaford Prep series. Win win for sure! In this book Odie takes back the power over her life completely by facing her demons with the help of Illi and it is GOLD! I won't deny that other characters also piqued my interest and I am looking forward to read more in the Mounts Bay Saga to see where J Bree takes us next.

The butcher and the black swan......perfect! It was tough to read the sexual violence Odette endured but I lIked how she got support from the Butcher and the Wolf, and how painting allowed her to grieve. The dual POV was fantastic and the dualogy provided some important backstory to the Hannaford Prep series. I hope to read more about these two characters in the future... Maybe with a baby or two.

Illi is so devoted to Odie and I just love them as a couple. I loved seeing Odie come into her own, despite her awful past. This book has made me want to re-read the Hannaford Prep series to see what this series has given me insight into with the other series. Of course, this is part 2 so you need to read part 1 first. There are so many characters that I would love to read more about i.e. Harbin, so Keep writing J Bree!!

Illi has my heart! I will forever be in love with him. He just gets better with every books he makes an appearance in. Odie is pretty spectacular too, and their story is amazing. I love the character development and how Odie continues to grow into such a strong woman. Illi's love for her is like no other. Where can I find myself a hot, crazy man to bring me the hearts of my enemies? I love the world that J Bree has created in Mounts Bay. I anxiously await the rest of the stories in this world and can't wait to see more of the Butcher in the future.

Dear lord, the Butcher, and Odie completely stole my heart and I do not want it back. J Bree, you can keep my heart as sacrifice to keep giving us amazing stories. Odie is a true champoin and warrior and the butcher is her dark night. may they forever reign and keep eating their enemies heart. Amazing story! Please pick-up a copy, you will not regret it.

Turns out there’s not much I love more than Illi on the warpath. I loved how strong Odie was while recovering from an insane amount of trauma, she’s incredible, it felt like she was really able to own who she is. The Lips cameos were all incredible and left me itching to reread Hannaford. Aaaaaand the tattoo scene had me rolling so thanks for that lol!

Wow. Just, wow. This book is absolutely phenomenal. J. Bree takes you to the edge of your seat, heats you up, and slams you back down with out pausing for air. I thought I loved Illi before, but now? That's a man worth killing for. Dont worry, hes got you covered. Toss in a few cameos from Lips and you have perfection. *This book pairs nicely with a Monster Zero and background music "Let's go to war"

"I want him to wake up every morning and to be in love with the woman I am. He loved me at my worst and most broken. I want to give him my best." Odie and Illi are everything and more. Their love story is fraught with passion and shows the power of love when it comes to healing and loving yourself through that pain. Ugh. Now I'm going to have to reread Hannaford for the BILLIONTH time.

I love Odette’s and The Butchers story. It is dark and twisted but they wouldn’t have it any other way. This book is book 2 of the Hannaford Prep series. I’m not going to go into this one very much but if you read book one “Butcher of the Bay” then this book is pure justice and a long time coming ❤️❤️🤐

The Butcher of the Bay: Part I & II give you Illi and Odie’s story and the history of Illi and Lips. Like ALL of J Bree’s stories it is well told. The characters are well defined and you immediately want to be a part of their world. I have read all of J Bree’s stories 4 or more times and go back to them when no other stories satisfy. I cannot recommend her books enough!!! Hands down one of my favorite authors of all time!!! I buy every book in all available media’s.

I can’t even begin to say how much I love this book.. Odie is my super hero..I think ILLI is a beautiful monster. I love how he loves Odie and she never has to want for anything ! He avenges her and also allows her the space to be herself .. I can’t wait for more from Mounts bay!! Thank you Jbree!

This one took a little longer to read than the others, felt kind of like it drug on a bit. Though it was nice to have loose ends tied up. There were a few grammatical errors, but not as bad as the first book. Things picked up more towards the end which helped.

Odie and Illi are the ultimate OTP! They are meant to be and after so many trials and problems they thrive in this book and the emotion I feel from them is perfect! I need my own Illi and this book is a great prelude to Hannaford and what comes next for the badass couple!

I have adored his character throughout these books. Him and Odie are everything! And knowing they only get stronger together as time goes on is incredible. I love the Bay family, can't wait to binge all the other books!

I love everything Mounts Bay and this book was another amazing addition to that world. Odie is so strong throughout her journey. Johnny is as crazy (in a good way!) as I expected. And the little scenes with Johnny and Lips are wonderful glimpse into their relationship!

Seriously, I loved this move than I though!! Though, a part of me still wants more!! I loved Odie and Illi together so much and his fierce love for her? Gosh damn I want it!! And a cold shower. Hahah

Wow! Is it weird that I love how The Butcher shows Odie his love? Hearts in a jar and all! Take my advice folks read anything JBree puts out! You will be hooked for the violence and the growth!

J Bree never fails to deliver! The characters in this book are amazing and totally badass. I absolutely love the storyline and am left wanting more with each book I read about the Bay.

I love that the duet series leads into the Hannaford Prep one. Only issued I had was that it needs to be thoroughly edited. There are incorrect words used in sentences throughout the book and there was one chapter where the entire first paragraph repeats. Great series just needs a more thorough look through by an editor.

What a deliciously gruesome, sexy finish to the Butcher of the Bay books! I cannot express just how much I LOVE Illi and Odie's relationship. Illi is ready to paint the town red for her. He will stop at nothing to get Odie back, wreaking havoc and raining destruction on everyone in his way. There is something so primal and glorious about it all and you can't help but cheer him on as he's spilling blood and taking hearts. It was awesome to see him and Lips working side by side. Odie is a part of their family and Lips was right there to make sure they got their family back. Odie was amazing in this book. She has been to hell and back and it has made her strong and fiercely determined to live her life on her own terms. This may be the end of their official story (and what an end it was) but I can't wait to see them again along to way as we continue on in the beautiful world that is Mounts Bay.

Sooooo. This book. The first was better and held promise, but this one needed a lot. Spoilers below.... * * * Whyyy did the author need to pull out every single French cliché she could find? Also, the editing was so awful. Author used “pupils blown wide” at least 4 times in 5 pages during the first real sexual encounter. I get it. Chick was turned on. Where is your editor??? The writing felt so lazy! I hate that I feel that way because I genuinely LOVED the idea of these stories. It’s dark, it’s violent, it’s sexy....but everything felt so rushed like the author was just checking off boxes on a list of things to write about rather than letting the story develop naturally. Also, I don’t care if it’s fantasy or what, but NO ONE is that talented at killing in the world she created. I don’t mind the violence at all, but the idea that Illi was so good he would never be challenged at all and only Odette (I refuse to call her Odie, that’s a dogs name) could make him vulnerable? Let’s not even talk about the fact that he “fell in love” with her after a brief car ride where she never said a word to him. Oh, and somehow he learns French practically overnight? The timeline is really off for how fast the story moves. I don’t mind crazy stories that could never happen, but I do mind lazy writing that forces those stories into reality without taking the time to give them the development they need to transport me as a reader. This series read like a hyper-active dream; flitting between one insane, violent, and poorly edited commercial to the next. Two stars because the story has promise and the author is on to something with her weird dark Mounty world. One extra star because she committed and wrote two books and I know that’s an effort. It’s definitely not the most terrible thing I’ve ever read, but for something so promising it fell flat for me. I know she’s an indie author and I would love to see her team up with a great editor to really push this to the next level. It’s a great idea, a great world she’s building, but I definitely think it needs more help.

I absolutely loved every second of this book. These two are so perfect for each other and I love how they would each do anything for the other just to make them happy (even if it means carving hearts out of people who wronged them's chest just to add to a very impressive collection, I mean who needs flowers anyway hearts are way more romantic). I loved that this book gives you a different look at the timeline of the events that happen at the Bay, it fills in some of the blanks that were left open during Hannaford Prep and it also sets things up for other books down the line. Just when I thought Illi couldn't get any more adorable from the first book he had to go make himself extra sweet in this one, I just loved how protective he was and is of Odie and Lips while also being able to hack a person up without blinking an eye. I also love how strong Odie is and how she does everything she can just to make sure she never feels weak again, plus I loved how Illi was just cheering her on while she did it. This was such a cute story (which is a bit strange I think that sure, but it most definitely is true) that I was so happy to read, I can't wait to read more of all the happenings in the Bay and I really can't wait to learn more about all the open ended holes later on we saw in this book.

"I'm not going to die before I get the chance to be his meal." I'm not sure how it's possible that each book gets better. But, I'm not mad about it. At all. We were left on a hardcore cliffhanger and we just right back into the fray of The Bay. And the betrayal of the Butcher's oldest friends. I thought the first book was good- but oh my goodness I wasn't ready for the second book. And how perfectly all the plot lines were going to weave together. It was masterful. How all the little one liners throughout the book came back and slapped you at the right moment. It was bloody. Gritty. Dark. And all the baddies got what was coming to them. Illi was everything-- the perfect compliment to Odie. His love for her is my absolute favorite part of this duet. Just the care he takes in helping her through everything makes me tear up. Oh and the super filthy things he says to her, because oh my. Odie, my girl, she grew up in a big way. The development in this book was absolutely insane and I was like a proud mom at the end of it all. I'm gutted that this is the end of their duet BUT, I know there's more coming from this world. I'd live in Mounts Bay forever.

The genius of J Bree is that no matter how thorough and amazing the story is, she creates such complex and dynamic secondary characters and back story that you can’t help but want more. I fell in love with Illi and Odie in Hannaford Prep and it was a brilliant series but when it ended we were all panting for more of Illi and Odie (as well as others). Now I’m even more in love with these characters after reading their story and seeing their love for each other. I mean wow, they could burn down the Bay with their passion, or bloody the streets I guess. Their story ended perfectly with everything you could ever want from a story. Still, I just wanted more. I want to immediately jump back into HP for more of Lips and her crew. The list of characters I’m begging for stories for has only grown after this duet. Butcher of the Bay is not only a crazy, blood soaked, amazing story, or just the perfect prequel to a well loved series. No, it’s perfection in the way it sets up for so many other story lines. J Bree said she can’t write about Mounts Bay forever, but I don’t know girl. I think you could and I’ll still be thirsty for more. If you were a fan of Hannaford Prep, this is an absolute must read. If you haven’t read Hannaford Prep yet, you definitely should. I would personally recommend HP before Butcher but they can be read in either order.

After flying through the Butcher P1, I immediately dove into the second book, desperate to know just what happened after the earth shattering cliffhanger that left my reeling. Odie has been taken- a cruel twist of fate that brings her back to the torment she’s already tried to shed. While I love the darkness of this story- the gritty, corrupt, bloody, and twisting world of the Bay, a tangled web of the machination of many nasty players jockeying for power and control, what I've loved the most is this story’s light- the deep, passionate, epic love for the Butcher. The big beating heart of the Monster. The man who will do everything in his power to get his love back from the clutches of enemies- including relying on friends to bring Odie back to his arms. This story is part rescue mission adventure, part about the empowering and restorative power of love as we watch Odie find her confidence, a phoenix rising from the ashes of her own trauma and pain to control her own destiny. Violence, sexy times, death, and suspense- what a crazy ride. But at the core we have such a sweet and powerful romantic love story- two people who heal each other, who find family they can trust, and a man who loves a woman enough to turn the world upside down to protect her, and a woman who is able to face her trauma and pain because of his strength and unconditional love. Bree has really wowed me with these characters- they are nuanced, flawed, morally ambiguous, and captivating. Even her villains are well constructed and charismatic. I flew through this- marvelling at this interesting Bay world and rooting for these unique characters. There were parts I wished I’d gotten a bit more story or context, but the love story is the real focus, and that, well that was just right. AS this was my first series from Bree- I’m excited to go back and read the series that inspired such a ravenous crew of mounties with a deep love for Lips- sometimes I was excited to meet in this journey and now even more excited to dig into the HP world. So glad I've found the magic of J Bree!

This is the second part of The Butcher of The Bay. It was a wild ride from beginning to end. The first part left us on a major cliffhanger, so I was eager to dive back in and see what happened next. I was not disappointed! Illi may be bloodthirsty, but he loves deep and plays for keeps. There is nothing he won’t do for Odie. We get some more glimpses of Lips and it let me know when in relation to her books everything took place. I have to say…Illi makes hearts in jars the new romantic gesture! This book takes you on a wild ride. It will drag you down and then bring you back up. J Bree has done an amazing job with this book. Odie becomes so much stronger after everything she went through in book one and Illi was with her every step of the way. He was determined he was not stopping until everyone had paid for what they did to Odie. As blood thirsty as this story is it was exactly what I needed to see happen. I wasn’t ready for this to end! J Bree has quickly become a one-click author for me. The world she has created with The Bay and The Twelve is overwhelming in all the best ways. I can’t wait to go back again and again!

“I need both of my girls safe. The woman I love and the kid who might just be the closest thing to blood I'll ever have.” Part two of “mon Monstre” and his baby girl, Odette. What I love about this story is seeing the relationship between illi and the wolf. And just how strongly Illi cares about her. Book two was purely about vengeance. I mean, we’re talking about the damn Butcher of the Bay and his methods did not disappoint. All his his one true love. "We're on our honeymoon. He's giving me the hearts of the men who hurt me as our wedding gift. I'm hoping to give him a baby in return someday. Blood for blood." These two are ride or die for life. I love them. Their chemistry and sexy moments were hot AF. I do feel the book was a little rushed. During moments I got excited about like the torture of scumbags and when the action picked up, the chapter just stops and skips over everything. I actually had to scratch my head about that a few times. Like, WHY?! We need details girl!! Overall, great book. Odette found her keeper. Her savior. Her Monster.

What a awesome conclusion! Hearts in a jar❤️ If you have read Hannahford Prep then you will absolutely love this. If you haven’t then you will still def love this! Illi and Odie have an dark but beautiful story. Im one of the few that didn’t read Hannahford Prep before this and as soon as I finished its the first thing I did. Lips won me over and I just had to have her story. Now I’m OBSESSED! Hannahford Prep is everything and Illi and Odie are amazing. The Butcher of the Bay technologically takes place before Hannahford Prep and so I went into it already knowing some stuff. I’m actually glad I read it first so I had Lips history and was super excited about Illi when he made his appearance. Either way you HAVE to read both! And then you’ll become Mounty obsessed and read them all. This is written so beautifully, JBree is an amazing author w a creative mind. You won’t regret entering this beautiful and intricate world JBree has created. Enjoy!!!!!!

Where do I even start!? Holy moly !! I didn’t think I had more love to give for my mounts bay crew but Illi and Odie definitely proved me wrong. Their love is one of a kind. The fact that someone with the reputation like his can be so loving and tender but dominant when need be?? Uffff my heart!!! And then bring in Odette and how she takes him for all he is and finds what she needs from him?? Yeah my heart about exploded with this book. And then she had to go and give me glimpse of baby lips?? Yeah ... J Bree knows how to reel you in. Odie has been through so much in her life...that she should be scared of the world but with a man and the love of someone like The Butcher of the Bay? Let’s just say she’s going to need a bookcase for all those jars. Can’t wait for the next wonderful madness that J Bree will bring out.

OMG!! Illie and Odies loves story is for the stars. It is so good to see how much in love with eachother they are. Odie doesnt judge Illie. She wants to be a part of his world instead. Illie will kill anyone or mainm anything in his path that will hurt Odie or the kid (AKA Lips). I LOVED seeing snipnips of Hannaford Prep and Lips in this book! It will make you want to binge read all for 4 again! Illie is just all man and muscle but all soft and enduring when it comes to Odie. And Odie can take care of herself thanks to Lips teachings and Illie’s trainings. This is a dark romance with a lot of triggers….and a lot of gore. I loved the gore! It was just everything to see how Illie took revenge! Odie doesnt need no roses, she gets hearts instead.

While Part One was heartwrenching and brutal, Part Two brought about redemption and healing. Illi is a swoon-worthy killer with a big heart for Odie and Lips. Odie is a strong, compassionate, kick butt survivor who adores Illi and his monstrous actions. Y'all. The way these two were together is goals. They were made for each other, their chemistry explosive and their love soul-deep. Illi gives the hearts of Odie's tormentors to her in glass jars. He strikes the names from his list, ending this amazing duet with only one name, a name that gets marked off at the end of the Hannaford Prep series. Getting inside Illi's head and watching him care for both his girls, Odie, his love, and Lips, his non-blood, was beautiful. This book was a story I didn't know I needed, but somehow could never move on without. J. Bree has created a world inside Mounts Bay that is destructive and volatile, but so dang addictive.

This book had the growth of both the Butcher and Odie. You take this insane ride with them on their need for vengeance to right the wrongs done to Odie. If you like dark romance this is a good book since the Butcher may be a killer he doesn't abuse his girl only rights the wrongs done to her. Odie was a scared and broken girl from all the horrendous things she went through but this book showed her evolve into a fighter and strike back. I loved how their relationship became so much more in this book. I have to say I truly enjoyed the Butcher's story it's action packed with suspense and some bloody gore that just gets to the real raw and gritty world he's from. Definitely recommend this book.

Sooooo.... I almost didn't finish this book. There were some parts that were a little sickeningly sweet for my taste. It was also a little bit predictable. Honestly, I expect a lot out of this author, and while this was good, it was not as good as her other stuff really. I went back and forth with this being a 4 or 5 star book, hence the 4.5 in the subject line. It was a good book, just not do much to my preference. Odie and Illi were so sweet with eachother always. Its not really my favorite. There are a number of interesting bread crumbs that hint at stuff for the other books though and that is very very exciting.

Omg! I have been waiting to read about the Butcher since I read about lips! I devoured that seriss and have done the same with the two from the butcher so far. Please, please have there be a part 3....I need more Illi and Odette. I love them just as much! This author is amazing and I can't wait to see what else she comes up with! Hopefully we get a part 3 with the ending for the jackal, even after reading it from lips point of view and with her guys it will be nice to see the ending of the jackal from the butchers point of view, especially since he betrayed illi and odie, otherwise the story and series will just feel incomplete! If you have not read anything from this author its a must, though i would recommend reading the butcher first, since you meet them both in Just drop out with lips....I think that's the first one, but I would need to double check they are mentioned throughout that series a lot since lips and illi are pretty close, and butcher seems to take place before she leaves for school and so far almost to the end of the jackal. If you start with the butcher it may be easier to follow along when she mentions stuff going down with illi and odie and why he is so set on protecting the wolf of mounts Bay! Seriously a great set of series by this author!

Butcher of the Bay Part 2 was exceptional! Another masterpiece from JBree. I was super excited to return to Mounts Bay and read this epic book. I love how Odie here can stand for her own and fight for her life despite the fact that Illi, Lips, and the whole gang will move mountains just to keep her safe. She isn't scared to spill blood and stab someone if she's in danger, learning to aim for weak spots, try to get hold of a weapon and to shoot straight, all from both her training from her Mon Mostre and Le Loup. The love Illi and Odie have for each other is something I envy and wish to have in real life. Why can't I be a fictional character? I need to find myself an Illi. Sometimes I wish he was on ebae so I can have him delivered at home. The book contains twists, turns, betrayals, blood, blood again because it won't be a butcher book without too much of it, violence, friendship, but most importantly love. Can you feel the love, tonight? I did by reading this. I bet you sang that part. I highly recommend everyone to read it, especially if you love something dark to read and characters with depth. PS. It has some triggers though so beware of those.

I was so excited for this but also, so nervous! How could it keep up or compare? I'm always so torn when J Bree has another book come out because how can it possibly be as good as the others? Today I managed to finish this book in one day, putting aside another book I was DYING to finish just so I could keep reading this. Odie's character development was amazing. She really comes into her own. You also get a better idea of Lips and how it is everyone is just so terrified, in awe of, and respectful to her, all without it overshadowing Illi and Odie's journey. The name dropping and plot hints for future books have me salivating for more from J Bree. I can't rave about her goddess-like writing skills more to anyone who will listen.

Ok, so I don't usually like contemporary but this world of Mounts Bay is freaking amazing. I have read all the books based in this world and cannot say enough great things about it. Its dark, gritty, different from other books, and the twists just keep you on your toes. I loved this prequel to the Hannaford prep and Illi is one of my favorites. He is a guy that usually has no empathy and is a serial killer/merc for hire but when it comes to Odie and Lips he is soft and protective. A definite must read! But be warned about the triggers in these books.

Illi is a true romantic in his own way. A list of all of the people that will pay for their crimes against his baby girl. Nothing stops these two from the love they have found in each other. Love how the revenge unfolds, however, I wish their story was better wrapped up and that you didn't have to read the Hannaford prep series to know how things continue with the Jackal. Im not interested in books with highschoolers, minors, or academy books. An adult series shouldn't flow into that in my opinion. However, fir those that enjoy those type of books, it does have amazing reviews. Its just not my style.

MIND= BLOWN. J Bree has a way of writing worlds that completely consume you that you feel as though you are actually apart of its world. If you didn't love Illi before I promise you will fall in love with him and Odie by the end of this book. We got to see love Mounts Bay love in its truest form- filled with blood, death and lots of steamy hot sex. I am absolutely obsessed with this world and never want to leave it! Fair warning, when you get to the last page you are going to immediately want to dive back into Hannaford Prep!

I started reading j Bree with the hannaford prep series and I quickly became obsessed with it. Even knowing the gist of the butchers story from lips story I still couldn’t put it down. Johnny was amazing for odie. He was patient, loving, devoted all while managing to keep true to his possessive, rough, bad a$* self. Odie was so strong and was exactly what Johnny needed. I also loved seeing how illis relationship formed with lips. I love this world and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Wow, just Wow. In true J Bree fashion, this woman transported me back to the Bay. I loved Illi in Hannaford and BoTB1, but this book was just so....epic. it had all the feels, it had tomes where i was laughing out loud at the most inappropriate times and had me blushing and looking side eye at my husband...this is really an excellent read and im off to reread Hannaford again...with some very fantastic new insights

J Bree is a blood loving master of psycho writing epic goddess! I can't say enough about this book! The butcher and Odette are such a perfect couple! The hearts in jars are flipping genius! The revenge taken against the sickos who hurt her is perfection! The blood spilled to ease her suffering makes my own heart sing! Bravo J Bree for bringing this favorite characters story to us! I'm hoping that the next time I read about them that Odette is pregnant!

Spoiler Alert: The character development on Queenie does not work for me. She's so loyal that when her man steps in front of her and takes a bullet, is in the hospital, she goes home with his rival for an f..in good time. He's the love of her life but will probably die alone in the hospital? This is just one example why I'm disappointed because I loved Lips' story and character.

Ya know, I already knew how much I loved Illi and Odie from HP, but this story just does these characters so much justice. Not only was so awesome to see a young Lips, but to find out how amazing Illi truly is was mind blowing. While I want to steal all the boys from HP, if there was ever two people truly meant for each other it’s the these them. Just, 👨🏻🍳 💋’s. J BREE CANNOT BE STOPPED.

Yes, yes, yes!!! I love Illi and Odie together, period! I love what they came from, how far they’ve come and the awesome couple that are now! I feel like I need to read Wolfs books now and I need some Illi and Odie babies in the future, lol. I love love love this book and the justice Illi brings for Odie and the list that gets checked off one by one! A must read, you won’t be disappointed but you’ll definitely have a book hangover, lol.

Love can make you move or in the Butchers case, slaughter whole gangs. Illi and Odette when to hell and back for each other. As times goes Odie grows into herself and realizes how strong she is. Revenge is theirs for the taking. It was awesome to the Butcher right most of the wrongs that were done to his girl. Can't wait to read what happens next!

I’m almost sad the story ended there. I mean I know some of what happens after with a different character as focus. Their story is just so good though! Phew hot hot hot. Little (okay quite a bit) bloody. No all hero’s wear capes. Some are Butcher’s....Some Paint Beautifully.....I just didn’t know how much I needed to know about them all.

This was just fantastic! I loved seeing the Butcher all domesticated and what he would do for Odie. They are definitely relationship goals. It was nice to see Odie become stronger and more sure of herself and able to defend herself. It was really great to see how their story caught up and came full circle to where we see them in Hannaford Prep books.

This book brought me full circle. I loved Illi from the beginning of the Hannaford series yet this just made me love him more. He is one of those iconic characters that I will hold other men up to. The ending ruined this entire book series for me! Of all the hearts that were given to Odie I wanted to read the Jackals! I wanted to know what happend with Wolf! I just wasted so much time on a series that doesn't feel finished! I really wanted to rate this 1 star, but I'll give it 3 just because the rest of the book was decent.

Re-reading this book I noticed even more little nuggets of info from the Hannaford series. Illi is one of my most favorite characters from this world and the love he has for Odie is something we love wish we could find.. maybe without the jars. J Bree has created such a in depth gritty world that I cannot get enough of.

While I did like Odie and the butchers story, it just doesn’t live up to the hannaford series. It’s still a really good story, but idk, I guess I expected it to be sooo much more because of how much I love hannaford. I’m really hoping Queen Crow doesn’t let me down because I’m dying for that book to come out.

Strength, redemption and revenge....exhibited by a beautiful soul and delivered by a demon. Sometimes it takes a monster to kill the other monsters hiding in the dark and that’s exactly what The Butcher does for Odie. It’s dark, dirty and terrifying but oh so worth it. Highly recommended!

Even though I knew what happened from the wolf’s books, I was still on the edge of my seat and anticipating this second book. Such a good book, I really enjoyed getting to read odie and the butchers story and their HEA. I’m feeling sad to be done with this series and spin off. J Bree is becoming one of my favorites!

I loved the Hannaford Prep series and I loved this duet as well. I loved getting to know Illi’s background with the kid. I loved how he fell in love with Odie. I loved their story. Such a big bad monster with a heart of pure gold for those he loves. I absolutely loved this story!

I love Odie and her soft feminism in tucked into Illi with his protective caveman roughness and I'm just totally love struck! He is so strong and protective of both his wife and the Wolf. I loved every second of Illi and Odie's story and can not wait to continue on to Crow's Queen!

I really enjoyed the continuance of the duopoly. It flowed well with the overlaps with Hannaford Prep. It was good to see Odie rise above her past and the relationship between her and Illi become more than it was. Once again, seeing the creation of this family that started in Mounts Bay was fantastic.

A very unconventional love story. However, that didn't stop me from falling in love with Odette and Illi. I liked the connection and friendship with Lips/Wolf. I did feel like I was missing parts of how the 12 came about and their significance. Still, a compelling book. This author doesn't shy away from violence.

I read this series after I read the Hannaford prep series so it made the storyline even better! You don't have to read the others first, but getting Johnny and Odie's story after knowing how in love they were from the other series just made it that much better!! Definitely a must read!

Loved this! Odie and Johnny are freaking perfect together. Loved the fighter within Odie that came out. The way Illi loved her was incomparable. This book has it all, violence, blood, hearts, friendship, s*x, and an HEA. What more could you ask for.😉

Wow! I loved this book and it leads up perfectly to the Hannaford Prep Series. Illi and Odie are just absolute goals. Odie really starts to come into her own in this book and she is just a perfect match for Illi. Highly recommend this series for everyone who is a fan of dark romance!

You can’t help but fall in love with Odie and Illi. The two of them are like fire, two halves of a broken whole. I need more, I just love this world. As dark as Illi is, his love for Odie is intense and leaves you fanning yourself.

I LOVE THE BUTCHER. The story of the Butcher and Odie is a sweet of fashion romance with you know lots of bloodshed, cut up bodies, and steamy hot passion. This is definitely one of those books that you stay up all night reading it

I’ve loved Illi since reading Hannaford Prep. I was so excited when I found out he would have his own books. I love see his and Odie’s relationship build and grow. Great ending to the book. I also love how this book is tied to events in the other series.

I liked reading Illi and Odies books. This story tied in more of the Twelve which I liked. Part 2 is a lot of blood and death and I didn’t feel like it had a lot of emotional depth for Illi and Odie. Still a great book though.

I loved every minute of this book. I have read all the other books in this sherries so now to see it from the butchers side and to get some more clues about other things. I can’t wait for more books. One of my favorite series

Oh my Lord! I love each and every book J Bree writes. The Butcher could easily be my favorite male character of hers and Odie, total girl crush! The style of her books stokes a fire deep inside me. 5 stars and more!

So this book is a bit slower paced than the first book, but still done in a way that doesn't bore you or make you want to pause reading. I'll definitely be doing a reread because it has so much more information in it relating to her other books set in the same world.

This was what I would expect as a conclusion to the butcher's story. Odie is goals for her strength and resilience. Illi is too for dedication and loyalty. I would have liked more of the gory details but recognize others needed something different!

Illi oh sweet dangerous sexy as all get out Illi. I meet you in the Hannaford Prep series but you truly have won my heart over in this series!!! I think these books will be with me for a good long time.

I have read all of Hannaford prep series.. I fell in love with the wolf and her men, her ice queen best friend, an the butcher and his wife.. I really hope to see more on the wolf from his point of view.. now on to the next one..

The Butcher has completely fallen for Odie but that love doesn’t make him weak. After rescuing her again, he seeks vengeance against everyone who has hurt her. You get to see the dark side of the Butcher but you also get to see the romantic side.

I'm not usually a fan of violence and hang stuff but for some reason J. Beer has made this world addicting and awesome!! I highly recommend this to all young adult fans!!!!

I am so happy that J Bree wrote Odie's and Johnny's story! It was heart wrenching to read in places but I loved the anti hero and the grittiness of it all. It is a wonderful, dark and passionate love story!

J Bree is an amazing writer! Continuing from the cliffhanger we get to see just how dedicated and driven Illi is towards Odie. It's a great look at how even the most feared man in the bay can still be loving and gentle.

I thought I couldn't fall even deeper with Mounts Bay and this book proved me wrong. It won't be long until I'm traveling back (again).

Book 1 was all about the Butcher. We meet Odie, we see Odie, but we don't really get to know her until the end. In this book, it shows us who Odie is and what she will be.

Perfect book. Epic love Ability to mess with your moral standing just a wee bit. Action drama. Nothing is ever black and white. Favorite series of a life time. Read it in on sitting both books AMAZING.

Compared to book one, not as much happened but I liked it that way because to allowed the story to focus more on the character growth of Odie and let the readers watch as she found herself again. I also enjoyed how there was finally some down time that allowed the relationship between Illi and Odie to strengthen and be further explored. It was also cool to see how the end of this story merges with the beginning of Play the Game cause I'm a sucker for story arc crossovers! Mounts Bay will always have a special place in my heart, next on the list is Angel Unseen! Side Note: I do wish that it was written more explicitly how much time was passing between chapters because the last half I believe took place over the course of two years (based on overlapping events in the Hannaford Prep series) but it didn't come off that way when I read it and it was threw me off a little bit.

Welcome back to the Bay! This book is so good! It’s filled with blood, love, and bada**es from the Bay. What more could you want?! I loved it I wish it didn’t end.

This is a can't let this1get by! Its full of passion and is very intense, in the Exact right way!! So Absolutely Exciting, I loved it!

“I told you, next time I see you, I’ll be killing you. Pure and simple.” I genuinely don’t think there is a book that J. Bree will write that I won’t love. I’m all in. This is such an epic conclusion to the duet and I honestly couldn’t love Illi more after it. The relationship development between him and Odie is just everything, what girl doesn’t want the hearts of the people who have wronged her, displayed in jars?! If you haven’t read any of J.Bree yet, go do it. You won’t look back and will wonder why you have spent the past year not reading and rereading her work. That’s just how good she is! I cannot wait for more from our favourite characters.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a fantastic duet for Illie and Odie, it picks up following the cliff hanger from part one and we’re thrown in to non stop action. I applaud the growth of Odie and the woman she’s now become, she’s so strong and her and Illi are absolutely perfect together. I love the timeline of this story as it overlaps with Lips at Hannahford so I enjoyed the crossovers even more. Illi’s caring of Lips is just everything, he really is her big brother and will do anything for her, other than Odie she really is the only other person in the world he cares about and it’s so amazing to see. I’m really intrigued by quite a few characters from this duet, I loved Harbin and Roxas and feel like this isn’t the end of them. I also really enjoyed Colt’s side story and of course knowing who he is to Lips I’m hoping that we’ll be seeing more of him too. I’d read every character from the Mounts Bay world because J Bree is a genius! Looking forward to Angel Unseen next!

This is a satisfying end to the duet that leads nicely into the Hannaford Prep series. There is some overlap time, so this leads us up to the start of book 3- play the game. If you haven't read the series yet, you want to now. It tells the story of what happens while the Wolf is away at school. It tells you what happens with the 12 as the Butcher tries to finish his list. And it's an awesome series on it self. If you have avoided it for the RH aspect, be assured that it doesn't come into play until about half way through the series and isn't the main plot line. There are some MFM scenes in the last 2 books. Even without reading Hannaford prep, Butcher of the Bay ends with Odette becoming the badass the Butcher always knew she was behind the fire in her eyes. She learns a few tricks of the trade from Butcher and Lips and puts these new skills to good use. She gets her closure for everything that happened in part 1. My only complaint is that Odette doesn't get the baby she wants. They need to collect a few more hearts for that to happen so hoping it comes in a spin off. They deserve their happily ever after.

would have preferredd to see more scene outside of the couple weirdly enough. e,g, the butcher and wolf scene. or wolf and jackal scenes. this is the last book in this series. but cant wait for the other spin off book series with the Crow, ive already pre-ordered it :).

Yet another fantastic rollercoaster from J Bree. After reading the Hannaford Prep series BOTB has provided so much more background into 2 much loved characters. I can't wait to continue the journey through the Bay with this amazing collection of books. Thanks again J Bree keep em coming!!!!
