a fave fr my childhood is literally saving the day...

Our seven yr old has struggled tremendously w all things reading and writing. I cant even begin to quantify the hrs of sleep I've lost worrying, stressing, crying... trying to find something -ANYTHING!- to spark his interest and turn him onto reading. And then I remembered the Berenstain Bears. These funny little bear books are our miracle. I've LOVED to read my whole life. I have the fondest memories of my grandmother reading dozens of Berenstain Bears books to me as a little girl... and then of me re-reading them to her. Introducing our little lovey to the Berenstain Bears has been jst... wonderful. YES - They're too, too much for a six or seven yr old to read solo. They're def intended for co-reading / joint reading. For me - these are the perfect books for teaching grade school kiddos ab theme, plot, character developmt, etc... while slowly transitioning fr me reading to him and daddy [ha!] to him reading to us. Basically: Highly recommend. =)

Great for kids who struggle with the dark!

I grew up with these books, and since my kids always enjoy them as well, I knew I had to get this particular one for my child (age 6) who recently began to struggle HARD at bedtime/all night. Usually he has no problem— golden child at bedtime— but not this week! Anyway...this seemed to really help him because the first night we read this he actually stayed in his bed ALL NIGHT! This is after a week or so if him fighting bed time and then waking us up multiple times a night. Thank you, Berenstain Bears!!

Good

Wasn’t scary for the kids and it had a good message. It wasn’t bad before it got good. I really liked and would. It it again. I am frustrated that I can’t read this book without giving you a review. So annoying....

Classic book to help ease those nighttime fears!

Excellent book to help ease the normal childhood fears of the dark. I remember reading as a child and it helping me, and it did the same for my daughter. A classic!

Helpful for fearful youngsters

My oldest is afraid of the dark, and this book has helped him understand that his fears can be explained. Loved this growing up, and it's still so relevant today!

This should give my granddaughter some comfort

My granddaughter(3 y/o) is somewhat afraid of the dark, so this book will help her, I think.

Get lil cubs over fear of dark, or scare the hell out of them

Great for getting your lil cubs over their fear of the dark- or really setting it deep in their consciousness. Either way, passes the time

My two year old is totally into this book right now. She's in a fear of the dark phase and this book helps her, I think. She has asked for more Berenstain Bears books!

My son loves it

My five year old son LOVES this book and reads along with me!!! Definitely recommend this book!

Offered reassurance

This book is a bit advanced for what my 3yo can really comprehend but she seemed to understand that dreams are normal and everyone has them, even bad dreams. Her brother 7yo can certainly understand this. Dreams are a nebulous topic for such young minds to comprehend and they did a good job with this topic.

Good bed time story

It’s short and cute. Silly ending.

well done!

beautifully written. I am enjoying it as much as my 4 yr old. I was worried a book like this would scare him more, but that is not the case. This book helped him to understand that he is not the only one who is afraid of the dark, and he can control his imagination.

Great for nightmares.

For some reason, my children respond to stories more than mommy's explanations. So I picked this and "THE BERENSTAIN Bears and the bad dream" up when my 3 1/2 year old was struggling with nightmares. Everyone is sleeping through the night at my house again.

Great books for a great price.

My 4 year old daughter just loves these books. We order a new one every time we have an extra 5 bucks. She's determined to have the whole collection of these.

The Berenstain Bears in the Dark (First Time Books)

This reminds me of how very afraid of the dark I was as a child! It's been fun reading these many books of the Berenstain's over the years to our children, grandchildren and those I nanny for as it reminds me of things I felt or experienced as a child.

Love the Berenstains!

I love the BB books because of the approachable subjects that are on a level that kids can understand. This one helped my kids (ages 6 and 4) with their fear of the dark and they love for me to read it to them at bedtime.

Great books for great price!

My daughter couldn't afford to buy my grand kids books and they love reading. I am not able to do a lot of "extra spending" either but want the children to love books like I do and have the opportunity to have some. I was so glad to find these and at such a wonderful price. I was able to get the kids each several books of their own and they were so glad to get them to! Go Nanny!!! I will be buying some more for them too!!

Old Books...but great!!

a fave fr my childhood is literally saving the day...

Awesome

I remember all of these books growing up and how I loved reading these specific ones that I brought like the Spooky old Tree which is one of my absolute faves and now I'm reading them to my children.

Nice semple

really my son like it i had 9 books and its very good for his age he is 4Y old. its good quality and cheap.

And the tradition continues- helps little people overcome their fears

We raised 3 children on Berenstain Bears, and they now have families of their own. Each is successful in their chosen life, and we have no doubt Berenstain Bears played a part in it. This order was copies for my grandson, and Christmas morning he will open the 2nd generations exploration of this wonderful group of books.

My kids love the story

a good bedtime story for young kids. I have two boys, 6 and 8 who love playing jokes on each other. So they loved this

Classic

WHO doesn't love the Berenstain Bears!? These are household favorites! And there seems to be one for almost every occasion. I get them for my kids as the situation calls for it. First day of school, Too much TV, Chores, New Baby, easing..... you name it. My 4 yr old is going to be getting a few of these for Christmas this year!! Cause Santa knows what's up!! ;)

Great book

This is my niece's favorite Berenstain Bear book; I think she likes that its about other children who are also reading books and going to the local library. We enjoy this entire collection.

My son doesn't like it

I thought it was a book to help children who are afraid of the dark. It's more like a Halloween themed story so no help there for my 3 y/o who is scared of the dark. Also the illustrations are made to look scary too. Needless to say I've put this book away till he's much older; right now he's scared by shadowy darkened images in the book.

Still good after 20 years!

When my grandson started having nightmares when he came to stay with me, I immediately thought of this classic book. The Berenstain Bears were a most popular series when my kids were growing up in the 80s. I enjoyed reading them because they were thoughtful, well-written, beautifully illustrated, and easy to read aloud. The kids find them fun and easy to connect to - even today. I am happy to say that my grandson has been getting better overcoming his fears at night and loves this book! That could be also attributed to

Cute book

Got this book for my son. Cute book.

Frighteningly boring.

It's not terribly interesting. The cubs check out a book from the library. It's a scary book. Brother reads it to Sister. She gets scared and has trouble sleeping at night. Brother makes a scary noise and nobody sleeps well. The next day, Papa finds an old night light he had as a kid. See, lots of people are afraid of the dark. Even Papa was afraid of the dark when he was a baby. The end. It's a good message, just not a very interesting story. The best part: "Sister was looking at a storybook about three kittens who were arguing over which was the prettiest-- and it was a little boring." Just like this book. Message: The dark isn't scary, but it's okay to be afraid of it anyway. For more children's book reviews, see my website at drttmk dot com.

A Berenstain Bears Classic

Stan and Jan Berenstain turned out some of their finest books during the early 1980s, and The Berenstain Bears In the Dark is certainly one of their best. A best-seller since its release (now almost 20 years ago) there is a simple reason for its success: the book tells a wonderfully beautiful and fun story but one that is also very true to life. In the book, a night light is placed in the cubs' bedroom because of Sister's fear of the dark. By the end of the book, though, the reader sees that Brother (who argued against the "babyish" light) actually is in need of the night light as much or more than his sister. It is a fun story for kids and one that can be very useful for parents. The story is great and the illustrations are classic Berenstain Bears. This is a personal favorite that I remember from my own childhood and one I will continue to read for years to come! If you have not read it or do not own a copy, get one today, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Great for kids who can't fall asleep in the dark!

I must have been about four or five when my mom first read this to me and my sister. It was definitely a favorite, as were all the Berestain Bears books! One thing that I loved about it was that after a restless night, Papa Bear explains to Sister how letting your imagination take charge at the wrong time is what often leads to irrational fears, even for adults. She learns that what most often, what is scary looking in the dark is really harmless once the lights are on. This helped me a lot as a little girl. Definitely recommended for any parent with children!

She's going through her afraid-of-the-dark phase and I love this book because it addresses the reasons for Sister ...

One of my 3 yo's favorites. She's going through her afraid-of-the-dark phase and I love this book because it addresses the reasons for Sister being afraid of the dark (imagination, but imagination is still a good thing!) and that her feelings are perfectly normal and experienced by everybody. I love reading this to my daughter so she doesn't feel like it's BAD for her to be afraid, but also understand there's nothing to fear.

My favorite!

This is my favorite childhood book! I still read it to my nephew and niece all the time. It teaches children that there's nothing scary about the dark and there's nothing to be ashamed of when you get afraid 'cause even Papas get afraid of the dark sometimes.

Berenstain Bears in the dark

My kids love berenstain bears they tackle just about every issue a kid would go through and gives them encouragement and useful ways to handle the issue. In the dark is no exception my daughter liked the fact that others get scared too andThey encouraged her to face her fears. It even had a funny ending. Just as good as the Tv show. Good for 1st and 2nd level readers. Great to read to any age.

Berenstain Bears in the Dark

Have ordered every Berenstain Bear book I can get my hands on for my grandbabies. They like myself love these books.

Excellent

This was an excellent book for my 4 year old who's afraid of the dark. We read it over and over and talk about the things in the book that scare brother and sister. We discuss how silly being scared is when you think about what it is that scares you. A great read for a little boy.

for older then 5

I purchased this book for my 5 year old son. The pictures were a bit scary for him, and he has yet to let me read him the book. i loved the Bernstein Bears as a child and do plan on purchasing more in the future.

Great Children’s Book

My Grandchildren love Berenstain Bear books, and so did my children when they were young. This book is one of their favourites. I read this one to my grandson, and he begged me to take it home. so I was thrilled I could find another one online to replace it. This book is a tiny bit scary, so make sure your children are old enough not to be easily spooked.

I finds these books very interesting which has elements of fun and good amount of learning for kids

My little one is big fan and hence a collector of Berenstain bear books. and now she is on spree of collecting all of them! I finds these books very interesting which has elements of fun and good amount of learning for kids..
