This is a great book for introducing kids to the process of going to see the doctor. Many aspects of a doctor visit are covered. But most important, in this time of COVID, the process of getting a vaccination is portrayed, and kids learns that it's quick and not usually painful. This book will help them to be brave the next time they have to get a shot. My granddaughter was teaching me that getting a vaccination is quick and easy and you hardly notice what's going on!

I bought this book to help my 2 year old overcome her fear of visiting the doctor’s office. Once she started remembering that she was going to get vaccinated, she would cry at every appointment even during the physical check before her shots. The sight of a nurse would make her burst into tears! After hearing a recommendation from a family member about this book, I thought I’d try it on my almost 2 year old before her 24 month doctor visit. We read it 2 days before her visit and it made a significant impact! We even brought it to her appointment and read it while we were waiting. She was so excited to get her heartbeat checked, her temperature taken, and to lie down on the bed. She was able to get through her appointment without freaking out and even handled a finger prick blood test without a budge or a tear! Now.. side note, she did end up crying when she got her vaccinations, but the big difference was she only cried after the shot and not before and through the whole process. Her apparent fear of her doctor’s visit was not an issue anymore and that was my main concern. Some things I liked: 1. Includes usual parts of a routine doctor visit. (Waiting room, stethoscope check, weigh-in, measuring height, etc) -This is so helpful because it’s relatable and helps your child anticipate their own appointment! 2. Overcoming shots -This is gold right here. The main reason I bought this book was to show my daughter that shots are quick and she’ll be ok once she’s done. 3. Stickers -great incentive for your child when they have a doctor’s appt!

He cries and screams the whole time, and we aren't sure what about it that frightens him So we got him the Berenstain Bears book about doctor visits (which does talk about shots), the Celebrate! Doctor book (we adore the art, but it doesn't talk about shots) and the basic set of Fisher Price doctor tools and a lab coat, which fits quite well and will for awhile, So far he still cries, but when he comes home he wants the books read and then plays with the doctors set while wearing the coat So he is processing, which is great ^_^ All in all, very pleased

This helped my son not be scared of the doctor, at least when talking about going for his next visit...will update once we go. (fingers-crossed) My son was not okay with the doctors/nurses after his last flu shot in October. Since then, he turned 3 and wellness visits were no longer a simple trip for us. Just talking about the doctor, shots even taking medicine...he wasn't haven't and thought so negative of it all. He was a mess the whole visit, super scared! Luckily, this book turned most of that negativity around. So simple, he loves reading books before bed and this quickly became a favorite. He tells me, "Mommy. Not scary. Doctor not scary".

My child picked this book out because it was on the back of one of the other books we have been reading. Classic Berenstein bears.

My grandson loved this book!!! He feels more comfortable with the doctors and nurses now. Plus he is a big fan of the Berrnstain bears now too!

I was in the seventh grade and the new girl to my left MARION NEEDHAM was drawing some trees and I knew in an instant that she was destined to be an artist. Now we are both old fogies and it is with great joy and respect that I can buy this book for my Norwegian cousin's grandson David. Marion Needham Krupp's specialty is Scottie Dogs, and except for the magnetic metal ones in black and white that we kept on a round mirror under the Christmas tree, I have never been fond of Scotties. I buy Collie books by Albert Payson Terhune here on Amazon.com! You have to be pretty callous not to love a Teddy Bear, so this is the book for Gunda's grandson along with a snappy TUXEDO also bought on Amazon.com.

This book will hopefully help the great grandkids understand what to expect at the doctor's office

Classic children's book, however I've found that it's the parents reading to the children and the children (at < 3 years) are not yet picking up to read on their own. I'm going to see when they start picking up on their own.

We love the Berstain Bears to begin with. We got this one and then introduced it to our children the night before one of our kindergartners had to go get his shot. Let the kids pretend to give shots. Then next day, let the kiddo take it to the doctor's office. We read it in the waiting room. He talked to the doctor about everything in the book, and then was still and didn't move for three shots. When we were done, he read it again on the way home, and put himself in the story. There were 2 pages of stickers, and he was rewarded with stickers, and there are plenty left for the next kiddo. A wonderful investment.

My 20 month old has a rough time at doctor visits. While we haven't had her 2 year check up yet, I'm so excited to see her take a healthy interest in instruments she used to fear. It also helps us talk about the doctor visits regarding what her doctor does and why she goes. The stickers are a bonus!

Bought on recommendation when buying Dr kit. They made a good pair

My daughter purchased this to go with the Doctor's Kit she also purchased. Our Granddaughter just turned three and aa a reward for learning all of letters and all of the sounds, she received both of these. She absolutely LOVED it. She brought it with her when visiting so she could "take care" of all of us including the pets. We all got checkups, had our blood pressure and temprature taken, received our shorts and just generally were told we were in great shape. The book helped her learn how all of the instruments in the case were used by the doctor. Great addition to go with the Doctors Kit or to help chlldren with their trips to the doctor.

Another wonderful book from MY beloved childhood book series that I am happily introducing to my 4.5yr old. I was so excited when he started to show an interest in The Berenstain Bears books that I could not wait to start collecting them again! This book comes complete with 2 pages of stickers - perfect for those sticker loving preschoolers. The read is a bit more advanced than where we are at but the illustrations are beautiful and there is a lot to discuss with him to keep him engaged. Very happy!

Short sweet story about brother bear's regular check-up at the doctor's office. Throughout the book, father bear is coughing and sneezing and denying that he is ill until the doctor calls him over and checks him out. She declares him sick and gives him some medicine. Very 1950's portrayal of the male-female stereotypes. But, maybe this book series is simply that old. It would have been great if they had gone into some detail regarding different medical instruments or what caused father bear to become sick aka discuss what viruses are and what to do about it. It is just very generic and a story book from a different generation. It was fine but, my son has never asked for it to be read to him since the original reading. It is just kind of bland.

My 2 year old daughter loved this book. As she grew to realize what the doctor's office meant (shots), she got a phobia of everything that had to do with both the pediatrician and her office. There would be wailing, screaming, you name it. To help quell her anxiety and help her understand how the exam goes, I got her this book.She loves the Berenstein Bears, and this book helped her greatly. It essentially takes you through the typical doctor's visit. We'd read the book, then pretend play that we were at the doc's office, with her alternately as the doc and as patient. She flew through her last visit, with all smiles, very cooperative about opening her mouth etc., and no tears this time, not even with the three shots she got. One of our favorites.

Great book to give your child an overview of a visit to the Doctor. General checkup, followed by a shot, which Sister takes very bravely and is praised for it by the Doctor in front of all the other scared kids there. These authors are very good about being on point about their messages and they have remained current even after about 30 years from when I was kid and now reading them to mine.

Helped my daughter with her upcoming visit

This is a great book to prepare little ones for a doctor visit. I love that it talks about shots. My son always does better when he is prepared and knows what to expect. The doctor told him he was the best patient he'd seen all day. This book paired with the Daniel tiger doctor book and my son actually had fun at his check up.

We have this book and I've purchased twice now as a gift. I include with a doctors kit as a gift for a three year old, both times a hit. It very simply goes through what will will happen during a check up- and my boys copy it and play doctor using things they learned in the book as well as the real experiences. It talks about shots, I think it addresses them well.

we used this book, along with a toy doctor's kit and some proprioceptive input (play dough), to help our toddler work on her doctor's office anxiety. she used to cry just pulling into the parking lot. now she can sit through an entire exam without crying, at least 99% of the time! she was 2 years when we got this book.

I bought this book along with doctor's toy tool set. My son absolutely loves it. He would make me read it time and over again, bring tools, play doctor, check with the book, play doctor again. I bought it right before he was due for his vaccines so the book prepared him for what was coming so he wasn't scared of the shot.

As always Berenstain books are great. My granddaughter loves all Berenstain books and this one is no exception. When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she said she wanted every Berenstain book that she didn't already have. Bought this to go along with the doctor role play cosume for a daycare I work at. The kids enjoyed this book and it's perfect for those that have a fear of going to the doctor.

The pictures were pretty old school, and on an iPad the images are smaller than they could be. Other berenstein books read better on the iPad, but I guess this one is older. My child likes the book because the Bears got naked.

My little boy loves this. it is a great little intro of what to expect at the Dr. It even addresses the fear of shots! It is tough to beat a good old fashioned paper book in my opinion, but the electronic version is very nice, and the kiddos can't draw on it with a marker....maybe!

This was the perfect book to go with the doctor kits I bought for two of my grandkids. I remembered reading this book to my two sons ions ago and was glad to see it was still around. Good story line for toddlers to help them understand doctor visits.

I'm giving it three stars since my 2.5 year old daughter likes the book, but I think it's kind of creepy. The kids are referred to as "brother" and "sister" which is just weird, and all the bears have weird long nails. I do like that the doctor is a female.
