Has a good lesson and cute illustrations
This book does a nice job teaching children that even though a babysitter may be different from, and do things differently than their parents, it's okay, and they might have fun! Of course, as a parent, it's very important to trust your babysitter, lay down ground rules (if need-be), and have them come to your home - in order to help your children to be safe and feel more at ease. That's what they did in this book - the babysitter came to their home. She's, it's a good teaching book with cute illustrations, as always!
Good story that covers a lot of bases...
This book was purchased to ready my daughter for a babysitter... She never saw the book because we didn't go that route ~ get a sitter, I mean... Regardless that I don't have firsthand information, I think it's a good story that covers a lot of bases regarding having a (new) sitter...and how a child might feel / what they would think...and how good things can come even when the preconception is poorly-formed. I was happy with the book and believe it would be a beneficial preparation tool.
Love the book
Awesome books with good lessons! Both my children and I love them!!
Great children’s book
Read these books as a child and now read them to the kids I care for. Absolutely love them.
Helps Kids Understand Why a Sitter Might Be Used
Great job covering sitter subject! Of course, after listening to this kids will expect a really good one.
Good Book, my daughter made me buy every one ...
Good Book, my daughter made me buy every one for her and she reads them to me before bed. The lessons in these books should be mandatory reading for adults when they turn 21, it would make the world a more friendly place.
And the tradition continues
We raised 3 children on Berenstain Bears, and they now have families of their own. Each is successful in their chosen life, and we have no doubt Berenstain Bears played a part in it. This order was copies for my grandson, and Christmas morning he will open the 2nd generations exploration of this wonderful group of books.
great one!
if you like BB, buy this one.

Always loved these as a child. They worked out great as a gift, thanks!
It is a bit too short.
For the money, there are better B-Bear books to be had. The Bully is our favorite. But ok as far as the kids were concerned.

My son enjoyed this story so much.

I like this book because I like Mrs. Drizzle and it reminded me of my babysitter. I liked the pictures and the games the cubs played while their parents were at heir meeting.

Babysitters are a last resort, but not scary.
It's not bad. It's mediocre. It's a little bit judgmental of people who use babysitters. Mama and Papa get a notice about an important meeting at town hall, but everybody is going to that meeting. That implies that the person they settle on for the babysitter is not very community conscious. The kids start out worried about it because they've had a couple of unpleasant run-ins with the babysitting woman in the past, where one lost a ball in her flower garden and the other accidentally hit her on the head with a kite. But she turns out to be nice. She brings string, cards, and tiddlywinks, and they play games. Then they go to sleep and she tucks them in. That's it. I'm not really sure what the message is. It seems to have a message, but then loses it. The best part: The book she reads them to put them to sleep is Bears in the Night, another book I've reviewed. It probably bores them to sleep. Message: Don't be afraid of babysitters? For more children's book reviews, see my website at drttmk dot com.
A cute story of trust and fun across the age barriers! Neat for young kids.
Babysitters never go out of date -- nor does this splendid book! "Mom and Dad are going out, Gramps and Gran are too. Who will stay home with the cubs? Just anyone won't do...." When Brother Bear and Sister Bear learn that Mrs. Grizzle is going to be their sitter, well, they are not happy cubs. They had some previous run-ins with "that old lady." Will their fears turn into a nasty sit with their sitter? Not a big lesson in this story for the kids. Perhaps to trust and relax. Or -- ?
If Only All Kids Were this Easy!
Mama and Papa Bear have to go to an emergency town meeting, along with the rest of the Bear family. Who will watch Brother and Sister Bear? They end up finding Mrs. Grizzly who lives in the old stump at the end of the street. But isn't Mrs. Grizzly a bit of a grump? Lucky for her, the children are happily settled down with the odds and ends she's brought in her bag. Not only does this book prepare young (under 6?) children for a new sitter experience, but maybe it also will teach kids how to behave with grown-ups. Mrs. Grizzly has a spunky personality that kids will warm up to and parents will enjoy reading aloud. The bright, colorful pictures are fun for kids.
Grandson picked it out and loved it.
My grandson picked this book out and we enjoyed reading it together. We are going to read it agin right now!

My six year old asks me to read this to him again and again.
Take the "scare" out of sitter!
My daughter (5yrs) and I are both huge Berenstain Bears fans. Unfortunately I missed all these as a kid - but am really enjoying them with her as an adult. In this book brother & sister are very apprehensive about being left with a babysitter. They're even more nervous when they find out the babysitter is someone they view as cranky & a little scary. Lucky for the little bears, the babysitter & the entire experience turn out for the best. Good book for teaching children that first impressions are not always accurate - and that staying home with a babysitter can be an enjoyable experience.
Lovely Message, No Hard Sell
This Berenstain book does a great job of teaching kids about how fun a babysitter can be, without being heavy-handed about it [I dont know about you, but my 5-year old can smell a 'lesson' coming a mile away].

Great Book For Children
My Grandchildren love Berenstain Bear books, and so did my children when they were young. This book is one of their favourites. I read this one to my grandson, and he begged me to take it home. so I was thrilled I could find another one online to replace it.
Great Addition to Collection
Great addition to your BB collection. I reference this book when discussing how we can feel worried or upset about something and how it can sometimes end up being completely different than we expected. Enjoyable read.
