Okay, Author Blake Pierce. You have a verrrrrrry sneaky marketing technique and it caught me hook, line and sinker. You give away the first book in each of your series, hopelessly enmesh your readers in the characters, and voila! They have to buy the entire series because the books are seriously that good. Not only that, somehow I came by this book - Riley Paige Mystery #8 - for .99 cents on Kindle. Did you do that????? Because even though this is a standalone mystery (and I had read book #1 so had some background) I HAVE to read everything between 1 and 8 to get caught up with what is happening with Riley, her FBI work, and her family!!! And now I see you have actually written several different series, all of which have book #1 offered for FREE DOWNLOAD which I am about to do. I may have to get a second job flipping burgers, but by gosh I am going to read every dang book you write!!! Your books are so addicting!!! Thank you for the sneaky marketing methods which have introduced me to hours of reading pleasure. And please, keep writing!

While I am a fan of this series, I wish the protagonist would grow. When I stopped reading a few books back, I left Riley Paige in the same mental space that she is still in, 3 books later...it's a bit of a downer. Yes, some old characters make an appearance (I will always be a fan of Jake), but Riley doesn't change. She continues to go between hot-headed trouble-maker, to down and out depressed, victim. It's not a matter of the writing, though...she is consistent in her psyche. She thinks about the impact her being away from her family has, she feels remorse and guilt, and when given an opportunity to change, she repeatedly doesn't. The author strings along the same routine throughout nearly every book, and I, for one, am ready for a new formula.

I love this series and I find Riley Paige to be a complex detective who occasionally is contacted by a known killer that has escaped from prison and helps her solve cases. I would recommend it to anyone who likes police type books where the main character is always solving cases and going thru many twist and turns to get there.

Love this series! Riley Paige is such a badass character and the behavioral analysis factor is really intriguing. I haven't been able to stop reading this series since I received a copy of Watching (The Making Of Riley Paige #1) as part of a giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I'm hooked

I'm so frustrated with Agent Paiges lack of focus on her daughters. It is almost as if she is as psychotic as the people she chases. Please give he daughters some stability in their lives. No teenagers should be treated this way.

I have become a huge fan of Blake Pierce, and have all his/her books now ..(don't know if Blake is male or female!!) Look forward to all future books- but Riley is my fave character..

I gave the author an additional star; because since his books have gained a following, he hasn't jacked up his pricing on e-books, like so many other authors have done. I love Kindle-friendly writers, and my loyalty is to those who are loyal to their original following.

Another 5 star rating for this exciting book. It will keep you turning pages till the end. This is my 8th book I have read, so it on to book #9.

Once again a real action mystery cold case page turner with a few new characters to love. Don't miss it's a gripping crime turner. Love his books and would not miss one. Enjoy!

Typical Blake Pearce - Wonderful reading and exciting.

I am enjoying this series of books. They are quick reads, but engaging. The only negative is the repetition. However, that reputation is necessary so people who haven’t read the whole series are filled in on details they wouldn’t otherwise know. Anyway, very enjoyable!!

So far I have read all of the Riley Paige Mysteries.....they remind me of grown up Nancy Drew mysteries which I read every one of those when I was a young girl....just good clean mysteries and quick reads for my 75 year old mind.....

Riley goes to reliving the past to serve justice on not one but 2 cold cases. I enjoyed the setting of the story . Very enjoyable and a page turner.

I liked this book as much as the others. I will be starting the next book very soon. I am looking forward to more books in the future.

Blake Pierce books are always great and I enjoy all of them but I needed more suspense. I needed a little more drama and action like the first three once books.

Each of the Riley Paige books are captivating page turners. You just have to read them as quickly as possible to see what will happen next.

Never a dull moment! Each book leaves me wanting more. Can't wait to see what else awaits , our heroine, Riley paige!

I have read all the Riley Paige books and I often wonder why because I get so frustrated with her . This one is a good story with a main plot and a sub plot. I get very angry with her and the way she neglects her daughters. Everything is an emergency, even cold cases. At least she didn't get suspended this time!

This series started off really strong and very dark. The quality of the writing has diminished somewhat, but this story was still interesting. I would really like to see the Shane Hatcher plot go away, though. It's getting a little old.

Riley can't get a cold case out of her mind, so she starts digging back into it. It is nice that the case doesn't haves to move as fast as an open serial case, so she can take her time going through the details. She also met back up with her old neighbor and agrees to a date! It is about time she got past her in and out ex! Then she tries to sell her daddy's cabin where she meets up with Shane the Chain. He gets her chasing after her mother's killer once again. This book is starting to show Riley slipping more and more into the darkness with Shane. I did really like how there wasn't as much yelling and arguing with the higher ups at the FBI as that was getting pretty old. Now on to the next book!

I’ve been reading this series since book 1, and I’m currently on book 12. The series started out incredibly interesting, and I loved trying to solve the mystery murders as much as Riley herself. I’ve noticed though, and It’s been the past few books I’ve read, but I’ve noticed Riley seems very full of herself, and the writer seems to think everyone is obsessed with her as well. I get that she’s the main person in these books, and she’s the lead detective so they have to follow her lead, but it seems that even when the story is from someone else’s perspective, they are still obsessed with Riley. For example, you’ll read in Bills point of view, and all he seems to think about is how Riley will view what he’s doing, and if she will be okay. Same thing for everyone, and now it’s just getting old. I still enjoy the series, but the constant need to talk about Riley is just getting annoying. Thanks for a fun read though.

Riley has quite a temper which has gotten her in trouble more than once with her superiors. Despite that, she’s one of their elite agents. In every book, she and her partner, Bill, have another almost impossible murder to solve. Excellent series

FBI Special Agent Riley Paige looks into a 25-year-old cold murder case in the eighth installment of this intriguing series. The writing starts off a bit stilted in this book but soon the words disappear as Riley, her partner Bill, and even her retired mentor Jake search for justice. On the side, Riley delves into the long-ago killing of her mother.

I really enjoyed the Riley Paige series. They’re always a good read with interesting characters and always hold my attention.

It was not as thrilling as the others. Almost left the book to start another.. I would recommend to others to read..

This book was great. It kept me guessing until the end. Definitely one of my favorite Blake Pierce books.

Loved this book. All of the 'Once' books by Blake Pierce are fabulous. I find it difficult to put them down and I've already order his next book which is out in August 2017. Can't wait!!

Love this series. Fast moving and always interesting. Like the intertwined personal story as well as the crime that Riley is investigating. Gave it 5 stars and can't wait for the new book in August! Recommend to anybody who likes crimmies !
