Never Touch a Shark!

This is my favorite out of all the “Never Touch A...” series, though I agree with a previous comment that “Never Touch a Sea Creature” would’ve been a more appropriate title. Great variety of textures and bold colors, with rhymes that are cute but not aggresssive or scary (some other rhymes from other books in the series involve being eaten by a monster and the like).

I don't like these "Never Touch a..." books. I don't know if its just me, but it seems weird to say never touch something, but you can dance with them or have food offered by them, but then it encourages them to touch and feel the animal? It doesn't make sense. Also, this book was so annoying that they kept using made up words. Like "buoy band" and "fintastic". This is supposedly teaching young children to read and those aren't real words. I don't know if the other "Never touch a" books have those play on words, but it's just dumb, kids don't understand the reference anyway. Was hoping for more since I can't stand the "That's not my..." books either. Hopefully someone educated can make a touch and feel book that has some substance.

Last page has a typo that had bothered us, we should have returned it. It should say say " So never touch a sea creature who IS in this rhyme" instead it says ISN'T. The ending makes no sense Never Touch A Dinosaur is the better choice!

I bought all of the books in this series because my daughter (who is now 15 months) LOVED the first one I bought. She loved all of them but in many the rhymes are terrible. I would have given them 5 stars except within 2 months the binding on ALL of them had ripped and the books basically fell apart. SO disappointed because these were a favorite! Update- I bought a new copy after the binding broke on the first one because my daughter really liked the book. Within 1 week the binding on the new book is also broken. TERRIBLE quality.

Love the textures and story. It’s pretty cute. Durable too. Update as we have had the whole series now for almost a year. The binding of the book doesn’t hold up amazingly but would still buy them because you can be careful, tape it and/or just buy again.

In general I really love these books. We have the monster book, and the dragon book, and I’ve looked through the dinosaur book and they are all super cute with catchy rhymes. I give them all 5 stars. I gave this one 4 stars because the story is not nearly as cute as the others. We still like it, but if you can only choose one or two I would pick one of the other three that I mentioned over this one.

I will say that the shark one was very slightly dirty with some black marks on the white teeth but easily cleaned and to be expected with storage and shipping. These books are meant for kids pre reading level. Mostly (I feel) for baby to toddler ages when a touch and feel book is most entertaining. With that in mind, I was not bothered in least with the puns and made up words. They are fun and create opportunity for more visuals which again is valuable to the EARLY book lovers.

Here's the story: I read a portion of "never touch a spider" to my kiddo in the grocery store, and loved it. I instantly went to order it and saw upon reading reviews that this one was "better". In my opinionz it is not. The feeling textures are awesome, but the text lacks the charm of the other in it's series. Some pages have very forced rhymes which make it awkward to read. I wish there was something, any tiny thing, that connected the characters to each other, which would not have been hard to do on the last page, but failed. Overall, , this book is very entertaining to babies and toddlers just because of the textures. I am a huge fan of that and the adorable illustrations, but those small factors just add up to the book not being very fun to read aloud.

I bought this because my daughter loves sharks, and overall it’s a fun, cute story. But the shark’s teeth on the front cover were already grimy looking when I first opened it, and the rhyme on the last page is awful (and makes no sense; I think there’s a typo affecting the content). It’s painful to read that last page but my daughter is too young to pick up on awkward rhyming. She loves the textures and those are nicely varied.

This series of books is super cute. Some of the rhymes are questionable, but they are great for babies. The problem I have is that they are cheaply made and fall apart easily. The first one we purchased was ripped upon arrival. I sent it back and got a replacement it. The replacement only lasted about a month before the binding fell apart. This happened to all 3 books I've purchased. They are definitely Not baby proof. I would not buy them again.

Such a cute book and I love this series, but I had to order a replacement because the first book was dirty and some of the inserts were off center. The replacement arrived and the silicone parts were still dirty. I tried to wipe it clean but it won't come off. The book is great but I would try to find it in a store somewhere so you can see before buying, as the silicone parts are very susceptible to holding dirt/dust.

I bought this for a newborn, 3, 5 and 7 year old, the older three were all fascinated by these as well as the other two books in this line that I bought. No word yet on the youngest's thoughts. They are well made and well received, with a fun, engaging storyline. What more can you ask for?

I love this book and so does my son. Each page has a different texture on it for them to feel. It’s great for sensory learning. He brushes his fingers over all the pages feeling the different textures while looking at the pictures and listening to me read it.

Love this book, especially that there is texture for little hands on every page. The colors are vibrant and it's a nice short book. I would love if all the page rhyme, because there is a page or two where it starts to rhyme and then just falls short.

We love the never touch a... books for the tactile experience and fun rhymes. This title misses the mark. The seahorse page doesn't follow the rhyme or pattern. Such a bummer. Really disappointed!

My kids love these “never touch a” books! We have several and will continue to collect them all. They love feeling all the different textures and the stories are so cute. They are also very sturdy books and hold up well against wild children!

Great addition to my so so collection of these books! He seems to like that the textures are different (such as circles on the octopus page) instead of the usual ones from his dinosaur and dragon books. Great buy for sure, highly recommended!

We love the book! The story is catchy and fun and our little one loves to touch and feel the book while reading. Since she’s only 7 months old being able to touch the book seems to help her engage.

Such a fun, cute book. My kids (4&1) love all the "Never Touch A..." Series of books. If the kids your buying for is like mine, they are also obsessed with baby shark, so this was a perfect buy. My boys constantly go back to this book.

So, what do you get a book loving toddler going through that baby shark phase. This is a fun book with different sea creatures and great textures to feel. Her favorite page wasn't even the shark page.

This book is not just about sharks it’s about different aquatic life. It’s actually such a disappointment. Stick with Never Touch a Monster, Dragon or Dinosaur.

My baby absolutely loves this series and touching all the textures on every page. Whenever he is playing with his toys he will always crawl over to the book case and pull out one or all of these books and sit there playing with the fronts of them. Great books!

Fun and tactile. The variations in the font and color of the words made it a bit more challenging for little ones to read, but pretty soon she was incorporating the cursive words too.

My kid loves these books. We were gifted one and she loved it so much that I bought three others. The pictures are bright and engaging. The touch and feel textures are my kids favorite piece of it.

My two kids love these books. The touch and feel and different surfaces is great for learning and the animals are absolutely adorable. While it doesn't always rhyme or make a lot of sense the kids don't care and will enjoy it.

We have 4 books in this series and live them all. This one is my sons favorite but it frustrates me the most because the pages are always stuck together really well. It's a pain always having to pry them apart.

The texture on the cover is great but the ones in the book are boring formy son. He loses interest quickly. They aren't well put together as it fell apart pretty quickly. His other touch books are better.

I was expecting the book to actually be about different sharks... it literally has 2 sharks in it (including the cover). VERY DISAPPOINTING. The never touch a dragon book is awesome the entire book is about dragons as described. It’s not like there aren’t multiple types of sharks.

Our one year old loves this touch and feel book. The rubber parts make it stand out from the others and the bright colors hold our sons attention. As parents we were happy to find a touch book with more words in it so it will grow with us.

my son got never touch a Monster as a gift and at the time we thought it was a cute book but he loved it so much he destroyed it by carrying it everywhere he went so I got him a new copy and have since bought all the rest I can find and look forward to any new books that they come up with!

This whole series is adorable and I usually love them but this one was poorly made - some of the pages don’t open all the way and there was this weird plastic filmy stuff on some of the pages.

My toddler is obsessed with this book! He had the dragon edition first, and even at 9 months he carried that everywhere he walked, I ordered this one for Christmas and it was a HUGE hit. He loves all the tactile animals, and I think it’s really cute.

Love the book, but it was very dirty when it arrived. The "touchy-feely" parts on the cover were the worst! The white shark teeth were NOT white. It came clean easily with a baby wipe, but I was not impressed with that.

I'm sure it's a great book but I wouldn't know. Not a 2 day ship item so it got here to late and had to return as child was already gone for holidays.

this was supposed to come brand new but it came clearly used. The inside was all scratched up and the cover had makeup stains on the shark teeth, lipstick stains and even hairs caught in the shark smile. GROSS. will be returning rather than exchanging.

My almost 2 year old son recently learned to say shark (thanks to the baby shark phenomenon). Considering his love for the song, I decided to get him the shark version from this book line. This book has now entered the rotation of common books my son gives to me to read to him. As one of his new favorites, I've rated the book 5 stars.

I already had the book “Never touch a dinosaur” and it’s my daughters favorite so when I seen the shark one I immediately ordered. I was very disappointed when it arrived and the book was incredibly dirty and the corners of the book were damaged. If I would have received the book in good condition I would have given 5 stars because it’s a cute book. The dirtiness and damage drops it down though.

My child really enjoys the book. The 3 star rating is due to the fact the book arrived dirty (black smudges on teeth, sticky substance on turtle) and I had to clean the shark & turtle before being able to give it to my 1yr old.

We love the Never Touch a Dinasour book. Was hoping this was a book all about sharks, but it isn’t. It has all sea creatures in it. Wish it would have been called Never touch a sea creature. My 9 month old still loves it though.

This book arrived with a small tear on the front cover by the sharks mouth. My grandson really likes the book, so we didn't take it to send back for a replacement. Perhaps there should have been more of a padded envelope for this book to be shipped. :(

I have bought most of these books, but the first is the best. I bought the shark one in June for yesterday’s September birthday. I wrote the wish inside and just had my little guy open it. The back binding is already broke! I am so bummed. Not sure how to contact amazon to make it right.
