Life Lessons: Book of James: Practical Wisdom (Life Lessons)

I love Max Lucado! His writing are on point and down to earth. His Lesson books make you think, not just answer obvious questions like other series I've tried.

First and foremost, I am a fan of Max Lucado fan. So I know that any literature by him is going to be great. I had the opportunity to lead a small group Bible study this past spring and I chose this particular study because of its topics throughout the 12 weeks. The book of James is a great chapter for me because its basis is all about how we should live out our lives. The people in our study really liked how Max connected the verses of James to real life situations and they thought his questions each week were very thought provoking and great for discussions. This book did not disappoint. In fact, they would like a new series from Max next fall. I recommend this series to all.

Received this today, with the spiral binding, crushed in the middle, and the back pretty much off the book. Amazon gave me a refund, and I don't have to send it back, but it is not something I can use in the shape it is in anyway. I hope this one is an exception to the quality rule, but this one is a day for confetti!!!

Max is a great writer & this devotional is no exception. It's a nice simple devotional that makes one take a few moments tho stop & think.

Awesome study through James! James is a blunt book of the bible and this study asks thought provoking questions that get you to pondering and thinking. Really helps you apply it to real life.

Strength is that this study book takes great strides toward igniting discussion among students A possible weakness is the absence of basic commentary on each lesson.

Get to the heart of the book of James and Faith!!

This book presents a lot of good points on the book of James. Even though I have read through James before, I still find new insight into the concepts discussed in this book. Lucado draws his readers into each section with a down-to-earth perspective. A great study book for discussion groups!

God has blessed Max Lucado with a gift where he can expose the Word of God through his many writings. His bible study series is simply wonderful and easy to help people relate to our Lord.

Lucado always gives good lessons. Nothing like practical wisdom!!! I have always enjoyed Lucado's work.. Read it. and learn something for sure.

Our small group is using this for our evening group. The study does not require a lot of exegetical expertise, but asks great questions with some practical application.

Good book which is usual for Max Lucado. But be sure and notice it is a study book.

The book moves easily. Liked the journaling at each end. Offers a deeper understanding of James. Max Lucado does his usual AWESOME job!!!!

The book was defective. Several of the pages were not cut. I am as not able to return it because I needed it immediately for a class I was taking.

A good study of James. Used for a Bible study. Will look at his other books for future Bible studies.

It was more of a workbook syle which I did not like.

Easy to use and doesn't take much time for a good bible study discussion-- we are suing it for our home group.

We used this book in our small group. Max Lucado does a very good job in not only writing the book but providing thoughtful questions to induce discussion. Enjoyed the study very much.

Definitely a lighter version of James and great for family discussion of the book (appropriate for kids 12 and older) and/or a short-on-time group study. There really isn't enough material to get through a 2 hour bible study, but if you were to do this during a breakfast meeting or coffee shop study - it is perfect. I went through this with my teenagers (it was too mature for a 10 year old) and we had a great discussion.

I love the study guide books by Max Lucado.

Our Bible study is using it and so far it's been pretty good. A few of the sessions have been very surface level however we've still had great discussions as a result.

Let me preface this by saying that Max Lucado is a favorite author of mine. This book however is more of a collection of study questions than anything. Very little interpretative or even devotional help. MacArthur's book is a better choice.

Helpful in study of the book of Hebrew. Some of the questions are a little difficult to grasp. But over all. I enjoy it.

Easy to digest soul food. Questions are simple yet they keep a person engaged. It is helpful that the scriptures are included in the text.
