Jesus: The God Who Knows Your Name

It saddens my heart that we are so quick to judge one another. I read one review that was rather harsh and it truly was what compelled me to write a review. I love this book. It moved my heart towards my Savior. It spurred me on to remember more frequently to give God the thanks and praise that is His due....for sending Jesus....for Jesus coming and all because He loves us. My brother, Max, did an awesome job giving us a imaginative and creative look at what it was for Jesus to be born on this broken earth. It did not in anyway go against any scripture that I know. On the contrary it bespoke of the wonder that the God of the Universe would go to such lengths to draw us to His heart.

I just lost my most beautiful & prized possession, my wife, to this coved-19 virus. There was a key part for me in this book, when the author stated that Jesus stated to the thief “this day you’ll be with me in paradise “. That’s exactly the same thought that I had when my wife passed. That same statement was confirmed to me by other friends, some who don’t even each other. Overall, the book was a joy to read, especially the part about the Jesus laughing portrait, that was presented to Max by a cigar carrying minister. I love having a cigar, but there’s certain “Christian” circles that I’d never light up in, because I know they’d condemn me. Max statements on Grace reach deep into my soul & I’m thankful for his insight. I’ll end with this, my wife was a deeply loving person who strayed from her lord & savior. Prior to going on the ventilator we prayed together, she couldn’t respond, was in to much pain & labored breathing. The nurses, doctors had us on FaceTime & all she could do was stare into the camera with her wide loving eyes. Jesus gave me such an overwhelming aura of peace that my wife re-dedicated her life back to him. Thank you for your books Max, they have truly been a blessing to me.

I love the conversational writing of Pastor Lucado as he makes the life of Jesus become very relatable to the reader. He expresses that Jesus desires to have a relationship with us and that Jesus knows everything about us. Pastor Lucado makes it easy for the reader to feel like they can know Jesus on a personal level.

Wow! I just received this today, and I’m already incredibly blessed—and I’ve only read the INTRODUCTION! Max Lucado is quite the gifted writer who never fails to communicate the reality of God’s love to my heart. What a wordsmith! This is definitely going to be one of my Max favorites. 💙 If you’ve never read one of Max Lucado’s books, please try this one. You will love it!

At first glance I was disappointed because it is a book put together by piecing parts of other books. I almost sent it back. I did find out it had some new material and I love his writings so I still read and glad I did. It is so well written and gives such a good light on Jesus’ character it is worth the read. I felt very uplifted and inspired. It does through different aspects to show exactly how much Jesus gave for us. It was exactly what I needed at the time.

Excellent book. Reading Max is like a personal visit with him. Always learn something new about Jesus and about mysel. Cant read Max enough

This is the first Max Lucado book that I have read, and I was very disappointed. In all fairness, this book may be helpful to someone who is not a Christian but seeking, but for anyone who is a Christian, I think that it's too dumbed-down to be very meaningful. I have a couple of disagreements with him theologically, but that's not usually a problem for me since to me it makes sense to read things that you don't necessarily agree with. I did not like the writing style. Lucado takes great liberties in embellishing the biblical narrative, and his additions to the stories were not in any way helpful to my understanding of the truth that scripture represents. It seemed like Christian entertainment rather than an aid to people seeking to find depth in their walk with Jesus.

This was the first book written by Max Lucado that I have read. I can assure you that it is the first of many that I will read by this author and teacher. I needed to read a good book about Jesus that was well written, insightful and personal to help in my journey in knowing and understanding Christ. Max did not fail me. This book is not "preachy;" nor to simple . It is pertinent and relevant and touching. I have found an author who will enhance my Bible reading and connection to God. I highly recommend this book.

I loved this book because Max portrays how perfectly Christ loves us. It was thought provoking and inspiring. I study the Bible everyday and still I missed a few points that Max made, supported with scripture. The book is well written and well organized, making it easy to read and hard to put down. I do not say this lightly since I am also an author of historical dramas (Journey of the Pearl, Quest of the Sapphire, and soon to be released, Secret of the Ruby, featuring Centurion Longinus, the soldier assigned to crucify Jesus) I have read other books by Max and watched his videos. I find it very helpful to learn another "take" on the beauty of God's plan for each one of us.

Max has a special gift when it comes to explaining things and getting to the heart of the matter. He challenged me to think deeply and review my life as it relates to Jesus now and for eternity. I could go on, but I will just finish by saying, it was a great book, and every Christian, whether new to the faith, or an old timer like me, should read and meditate on the content presented in this special book.

I'm about 2/3 the way through it. Mostly some pretty good chapters. The chapters are short -- good for a daily read in a short period. Puts a thought in your head to reflect on the rest of the day.

We enjoy the writing of Max Lucado and have more than 35 of his books. I highly recommend his books for anyone who enjoys good Christian reading.

Such a great read that I had to force myself to limit my nightly reading so I didn't fly through it in a couple of nights!!! His writing style is so clear and down-to-earth as well as highly entertaining that regardless of what anyone's spiritual background is, the message is plain as day without being preachy!!

This is a great boo!!. It is thought-provoking. fantastic book. I have rationed this book. I read about 20 minutes a day. I read it with a highlighter. I want this book to last :-) Lucado is a fantastic author!!! You owe it to yourself to get to know Jesus, and Max Lucado!!!

Max Lucado writes as if he were speaking and his message speaks directly to your heart. He defiantly spoke to me with "Jesus: The God Who Knows Your Name." Lucado examines the birth, life, death, resurrection, and future return of Christ in a way that is personal to the reader. Yes, Jesus does know your name and He wants you to know Him. If you read this book, it could make an eternal difference in you life.

I got the Kindle version of this book. I read all of Max Lucado's books and this is one of his very best. Love the way he uses his sense of humor to keep you interested in reading about Jesus and His life and how to apply God's Word to your own life.

I like Max Lucado, but sometimes I have to be in just the right frame of mind. This one is a "right time, right word" book--I wept my way through it, as God brought me out of a bleak depression. I've now ordered several for friends. Get it, read it, you'll be BLESSED.

The subject of this book is the best, it is very readable, interesting and touches my heart in just the right spot.

Max Lucado has such an easy-going way of bringing the most important matters home to the heart. This book helped me better understand who Jesus is, who he was in his humanity, and why that mattered.

Max has a way of making the life of Jesus, death and resurrection understandable - human and present in out ordinary lives without relying on the hell, fire and brimstone fear factor spin so many religious writers/pastors rely on. Sin hurts us, the answer, get closer to God and Jesus teaches us how.

Once again, Max has hit it out of the park. He speaks truth and if you let it, the truth will set you free. Now that I'm done reading this book, it may be time to do the study that I got to go with it. Time for another conversation....

Max really made Jesus come alive for me as he showed just how much He became human. It is hard to imagine that the One who was there from the beginning gave all that up to become a little baby needing a mother to raise Him.

I bought this book to read as a work up to Easter. I read a little each day opening my heart and mind to who Jesus is. I greatly enjoyed Max’s inside and new way of looking at passages I have looked at many times before. I purchased the book and the workbook together and I used both and I am very glad I did.

I read it. I love it as I do all Max's books, and I have decided to read a little of it as a devotional each day. It soothed me. Or was it feeling closer to Jesus that soothed me...... Highly recommended.

Really good read about who Jesus was and is! Max did an excellent job at telling the facts and truth about Jesus while clearing up misconceptions about Jesus. He also described who is to us and for us!

Lucado speaks beautifully in words about a loving Savior. He has humor and poinant sections that will bring tears to your eyes. Everyone can deepen their faith and get to know a God who knows you and loves you.

How Pastor Max Lucado simplified the acts and responses of our Lord Jesus Christ in words that we can relate. You will have a different outlook and understanding of the Love of Jesus Christ.

Jesus suffered many things in tbe flesh, He didn't have to but He did, Why? Because He loves us. Max Lucado explains the way Jesus loves his children in such a beautiful understanding way, I felt closer to my Savoir with each page I read.

I’ve read a lot of Lucado’s books, including his recently released book “How Happiness Happens” (which was phenomenal and boy do we ever need a lesson about happiness to catch on in this day and age..) so was tempted to skip this one, thinking can he really have anything new to say? I’m so glad I didn’t because this may well be his best book yet!! I’ve heard it said we can’t fully know ourself until we know Jesus. To get to know Jesus and the Good News of the Gospel better through these engaging pages really energized my faith. We need more Good News in the Church and in the world and this book is full if it! Thanks Team Max! This is another winner!!

I was able to read the first four chapters as I am on the launch team for this new Max Lucado book. Now, I can't wait to read the rest of the book! While I am still in the process of reading, I am loving this book! True to his style, Max Lucado personally connects you with the topic. I always love the personal anecdotes that allow him to reach the hearts of so many. This book is no exception. By taking in his words and meditating on his message, along with the Scriptures, we can continue to strengthen our faith and relationship with our Heavenly Father. I love Max's books. I was on the launch team for his "How Happiness Happens" book and absolutely loved it. I definitely ordered a physical copy of that book and this one is no different. When I found out there was a new book launch for Jesus: The God Who Knows Our Name I knew I wanted to be apart of it. Max Lucado has a way of explaining some tough subjects and making them relatable and understandable. I love how intimate the reading feels and how easily it flows. I read the first 4 chapters that we received as being apart of the launch team for this book in just over an hour and I wished I had the rest of the book to keep reading. I will absolutely keep reading books from Max and doing the amazing bible studies.

This is another book by Max Lucado, that will not disappoint. I have read many of his books in the past. I have only read the first four chapters so far, as a launch team member. So far, it is extraordinary. In his inimitable writing style, applicable illustrations, and word pictures (imagery), he addresses the events that transpired in the beginning of the Incarnation: the angelic visitations, the birth of Jesus, and how Mary and Joseph must have felt. Lucado reminds us through his exegesis that Jesus was 100% human, that He experienced all that we as humans experience, in order to sympathize with our human condition. I highly recommend that you read it
