Must have book for coaches!
Jim Knight is one of the leading researchers in the field of instructional coaching, and this book is is a "must have" book for anyone researching, working with, or in an instructional coach position. He has a coaching center at the University of Kansas, is easy to reach by email with questions, and has a great website and blog, too, to keep up-to-date as a coach!
Four Stars
Helpful in moving yourself in the direction of coaching others in education.
The Rosetta Stone !
I total five star rating ! Jim Knight has brought us the Rosetta Stone ! Almost overnight we have greatly increased the expectations of students. We give teachers 100 page 'learning modules' to tell them what to teach....But we do next to nothing about 'how' ! My work over 40 plus years in education indicates that the biggest correlate to student success are the skills of the teacher ! Without instructional coaching, those skills will not grow to match the demands of Common Core ! Teaching is the only performance profession that has yet to embrace coaching and videotaping of its work followed by feedback. I agree with Jim Knight that Instructional Coaching is THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MODEL FOR THE 21st Century !

Outdated
This was published in 2001 so I think it's pretty outdated.
