Guess How Much I Love You Padded Board Book

I just dislike reading this book. The story is cute, my son enjoys it. He likes to act out the different pages. My struggle comes with having to say nut brown hair a billion times. Its awkward and just messes with the flow of the story. Wouldnt it have been just as great of a story by saying "Little Hare" and "Big Hare"?

I bought this for my 4 month old son to read with his dad, but I thought of bringing this to his photoshoot for his Easter pics. I'm glad I did!

It is a small “board book”. Not what I was expecting (the normal hardcover book). An expectant Mom put this on her registry and asked for her baby shower guests to write a note in the inside face page inside. Well, there is NO facepage inside being that this is a “Board Book”. I shall have to sort that out; perhaps leave a separate note inside on a card. Disappointed - but the small BOARD BOOK DID arrive in perfect shape and time.

I have very fond memories of my parents reading me this board book as a young child, and so I bought this as a gift for a co-worker who was expecting a baby. The shipping speed and quality of the board book was great, and he was very happy with the gift. I'm now expecting a baby myself, and plan on buying a second copy for my own child.

We got rid of this book after reading it only a time or two. Although we understand the book's message is intended to be about how much these two hares love each other, it comes across more strongly to us as a parent/older hare continually one-upping the younger hare and that doesn't sit well with us.

I bought this based on the high number of positive reviews but I honestly can't recommend this book. The story is very annoying to read as the characters are referred to as "Little Nutbrown Hare" and "Big Nutbrown Hare" on every page - it doesn't roll off the tongue easily and gets exhausting to say it. The pictures are very muted in color so it is not very exciting to look at the book. The story itself is not great as it seems like Big Nutbrown Hare is always trying to outdo or one-up the Little Nutbrown Hare's declarations of love.

Since I teach kids in China, it's usually bedtime for my littles. I love to read this book to them and tell them Good-night. Depending on their level, we have fun talking about it, too. Great way to explain some vocabulary, such as "hare."

Did not come with the stuffed bunny. I didn’t send it back because I needed it for a baby shower. Just a warning- it’s just the book.

I was browsing through the children's department of my favorite local bookstore, looking for a gift, when this title caught my eye. I settled down on the floor for a read, and fell in love. Big Nutbrown Hare is getting ready to put Little Nutbrown Hare to sleep for the night, when Little challenges him to guess how much he loves him. Little stretches his arms wide and says, "This much!" Big stretches his arms even wider and returns the love. Little keeps finding bigger and bigger ways to express his love for Big, and each time, Big outdoes him by virtue of his greater size. Finally, Little has to stop and ponder, and then triumphantly claims that his love for Big goes "all the way to the moon." That's a lot, Big concedes, and satisfied, Little settles down to sleep - and misses Big's whisper that he loves him "to the moon and back." For children anxious about being loved, I can't think of a better story to illustrate how limitless their parents' love really is. No matter how much you love me, Big is saying, I love you that much and more. A comforting message, and one that Little can sleep on. One of the things that makes this book unusual is that both hares are male. There is no lack of books about the love of mothers for their children, but Daddy-love is harder to find. I love the message here. The pen and watercolor illustrations are wonderful. The animals are perfectly drawn - not cutesy, not cartoony, they are big rangy hares, with remarkably expressive faces. No cute little fluffola bunnies here... I recommend this book as a valuable addition to your children's library.

This is a nice book. It has sturdy cardboard pages that won't rip. Very good for having around young children. I gave it as a gift and my friend was very pleased with it. I would recommend it.

I really wanted to give one of my best friends who is having a baby this book but the hardcover when shipped to me had some bruises, marks and was just overall dirty and not something I'd want to gift.

Used this as a guestbook for a baby shower because it was such a nice commemorative edition. Was slightly worn on a corner due to shipping but I don’t think anyone noticed. Lovely, thoughtful gift book.

Everybody (!) needs this book. No matter if adult, teen, kid or toddler! It is just the cutest little story. I bought this one on amazon for my husband. I still have a version in dutch that my grandma gave me a couple of years ago. It is a story about this little bunny rabbit that doesn't want to go to bed... it is just too cute! *...to the moon and back* Would buy again!!!

This is a great little book that highlights a loving familial relationship, while simultaneously making your child curious about relativity (eg: the idea that of the smallest or largest measurements your child can imagine, there's always something smaller or bigger). I can imagine with an older child, this book would incite greater curiosity about the world; my baby is six months, so she loves the pictures and voices I use currently!

For a gift. The story was one of my sons favorite. So we bought the book for a friends child!!!

It is a Wonderful book for the person to read to any baby or child! My adult children love reading it to their young ones and still love it! A good way for ALL!

This is one of the most brilliantly and simple books ever written for little ones! It is simple and sweet. The art is cute. The iconic “I love you to the moon - and back!” lives on in my family and my youngest is now 9-years-old.

It took a long time to get the book. When I got it I was disappointed because the book was bent and it was small. Love the story.

This little board book is a traditional book about how much a mommy loves her baby! It is small enough for baby to hold and short enough for an infant to sit and listen to! My 4 month old tries to grab the pages and put the book in his mouth so I needed the board book! It is an adorable story explaining how the little one will never understand how much mommy loves him!

My two year old and three year old love this book. Other board books they’ve been able to rip apart but this is a sturdy book.

Very cute book, lots of nut brown hares said in it though lol. It can get confusing reading out loud. Book has held up well with a rough and tumble 19mo wanting to read it every 5 seconds and getting mad and throwing it if you aren't fast enough to agree -_-.

A touching book for read-aloud about a mother's love for her child.

This is a really sweet, classic children's book. The story line and writing are so sweet, the drawings are charming, and like all good children's books, it ends with a sleeping child. It doesn't, however, appeal to my 7-month-old baby. I'm sure she will like it more as she gets older, but the lack of contrast in the colors and variation in the types of drawings make it much less attractive to her than other classics like Goodnight Moon and the Very Hungry Caterpillar.

I ordered this book for my one-year old granddaughter. She loves it and asks for it over and over. It is a sweet, well written children's book. It reinforces the unconditional love her parents, grandparents, and other family members have for her. I think this is very important for all children to hear as often as possible. and this book helps do that. I have given it to my other grandchildren when they were very small and they also responded well to it. It keeps the child's interest while imparting an important message.

I bought this children's book to read to my grandson....he loves it. Very sturdy little book that he can be "hands on" and since he is under 2 yrs old, it's not to long and keeps his attention! Very pleased!

This book brings joy to my heart. Actually it was the theme for my sons last birthday. It is a great story and the kids can spot a lot in it or mimic. Shipping and condition were fine.

Just ok, meh. Arrived with damage on the edges of the pages and pretty bent. I guess I'll still keep it though, didnt cost that much. The dedication's are in a weird spot to me, but meh.

I love the notion of a parent and child verbally expressing how much they love each other. My mom and I used to do this when I was a kid. However, unlike the book, my mom didn't one-up my expression of my love for her indicating that she loved me more than I loved her. We were just both trying to find creative ways to express what loving someone a lot looks like. I wish this book was more along those lines but I do enjoy it anyway.

My niece turned two before she was really interested in this book. The only way I could read it to her was right before she fell asleep. Now, though, she will even request it. I can understand why people think this book is too competitive. However, it always appears to me like it's a sort of a game - who can come up with the most elaborate description? instead of an actual competition. Certainly the little nutbrown hare doesn't get upset during the book (and one day he'll be taller than his father, jump higher, etc.) However, if you're concerned about that, I would strongly suggest you read the book first, before you buy it.

By far my little one's most favorite book, and mine too. This is the perfect classic to have for your child, or to get as a gift. I prefer the board book because it will get a lot of use. The other variations of this book are okay, but definitely not as great as this one. It's a must for the little one's library!

Came kinda warped but fortunately I placed it under a very heavy book and it flattened out perfectly. I would have given a 5 star if it came without the warp.

great kids book i recommend all years but to get the best use maybe start at 2 and up, a lot to read and younger kids around 8 to 9 months in my experience need to flip pages more

This is the most wonderful children's book. Almost 20 years ago my son and I began to play the "game" described in this book - finding it in a story a few years ago was a joy! I have gifted this book to at least a dozen children since discovering it... They have since come out with a Baby Book with the same theme as well as a GIANT BOOK too! You can't go wrong. Read the book to a small person and see if you can get a game of 20 years strong in play to brighten your own life!

This is a beautifully sweet book for baby. It has sweet little bunny pictures of papa and baby bunny, and it beautifully expresses a parent's love for their child. I've seen this book around, and my mom had bought it for my nephews a few years ago. I knew I had to add it to the library of books for my daughter. I've even given this as a gift to friends. It's very well and beautifully made, and it's a hard cover book, so it holds up quite well. The pages are glossy and attractive, and the drawings are very sweet.This is a good book to start reading to your child early, and it will surely become their favorite as they get older. This is not a competitive book, but rather a book about a fun game to guess how much the parent hare loves the child hare. In the end, it's all about letting the child win. The father waits until the child is asleep in the assurance he has come up with the unbeatable answer, "I Love you all the way to the moon!" But as he sleeps and the father looks at this bundle of miracle that has been bestowed upon him he says what he feels, "I love you all the way to the moon, and back". The child doesn't hear this. The father is just expressing a love he can't even define it's so big. That's not competitive or mean spirited, it's a wonderfully realistic portrayal of having a feeling of love so big that you know there is nothing bigger. I wouldn't say this book brings tears to my eyes, but it is certainly a good read.

I bought this book so I can read it to my babies at bed time. As others reviewers have stated, the book is about a mother or fathers love for their child - it has no limits. There are many things that I love about this book. For instance, the story is absolutely beautiful and the illustrations are really adorable. Also, it is the right length. You will be able to finish it, even with a sleepy baby. The pages are hard, which is great because my babies love to put the book in their mouths while I read it. The book is small. I can hold it with one hand while I hold one of my babies with the other one. By the way, my husband loves to read this book to our sons too! I also got the jack in the box, or in this case, the hare in the box, and it is really cute.
