Great. Helped me get back up when I was done. Great goal setting method to follow. Makes it simple and easy.
One of the best books you could read for getting what you want.
....if you really know what you want!!!..But why today more than ever do we keep changing our mind or dont even really know what we would want in the first place? Im in my 50's and for the last 15 yrs I have asked mumerous people that if they were given 1 million dollars and never had to work again what would they do. And not one person had an inspiring goal that made me want to go..."so lets go for it. I'm in. I will help!" It always starts with "First thing i would do is pay off my____" I am looking forward to anyone, and I mean anyone to just come here and say.............."I read all the books on marketing yourself, motivational books, books on how to write a book so youll be considered an expert in your field, but this book showed me how to just be myself and take my strengths and capitalize on them with the likes and dislikes I have." PLEASE SHOW ME ONE PERSON WHO CAN SAY THIS ABOUT THIS BOOK!(or any book) Because that is what we ALL need. Ever wonder why someone will give a great ,simple, easy, suggestion and go, "sure its easy to maker money. Buy something on ebay OR Amazon and just keep reselling it at a much higher price?" Why dont we all follow the OBVIOUS choices? I will tell you-Its because for some people...just seeing the 'clarity" the ease, the end of the road is all they need to motivate them and focus. They are what I call "hustlers." but in a good way. They chase a buck. Like the kids we knew growing up that had a newspaper route, sold used baseball cards in school and was the class bookie in junior high! Money gets them high!Hustlers s who attract money seem to be born and THEY need the goals list, but what about the deeper folk like us who want to taste life at the bone!!!? But what about those of us who need to do something to make money, but money alone is not enough? Lets be honest...how many of us would open up a dry cleaner in our neighborhood if we were guaranteed to make at least $75k a year for each one we put up and our outlay is only 25k which any bank would fund? Most of us still wouldnt do it.........and THESE BOOKS ARE NOT GETTING TO WHY THAT IS! Our ancestors of just 100 yrs ago would jump on that. They came here strictly to advance themselves and learning to love their work and "finding themselves" was just a bonus that happened by accident while doing 'real work." My question to all of America and all its authors are....Why have we all gotten so lethargic, apathetic and complacent at jobs we don't like, even if they pay huge $$$? Why was money enough 60-100 yrs ago but now it is not. What is emerging from our psyche. I may be more curious than most because I left the thing I love most to be a stock broker and make big money, and wound up neither making the big money nor being happy at the job. Double loss. I'm sure no one relates to that. -) WHY HAVE HUNDREDS OF GOAL BOOKS COME OUT IN THE LAST 20 YRS, AND WHERE IS ALL THE SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE THEY SHOULD HAVE CREATED? I myself have had written goals since I was a teenager, and had both journals, diary's,and 3x5 REMINDER CARDS in my wallet for over 20 yrs, and every year I cant figure out why nothing gets scratched off the list. But ever goal book tells us about Coach Lou Madden who wrote like 109 goals down and has completed 101 of them including having dinner with the president. Why don't any of us know just one person, just one like that! How about a single mom of 35 starting to take ballet lessons and by 50 has her own string of studios. Something simple.I don't hear anyone doing this. And especially you dont hear of people over 45 and especially 50 starting and accomplishing anything worthwhile except to lose 8 pounds or run 2 miles.(Yawn!)I originally gave this book 5 stars, but when I realized how little I accomplished from reading it over and over for years, I felt it should get only 4 stars but is a 5 for being interesting. Do we need someone to write a book called: How do people who never write their goals down succeed? Would that help us to go with the flow of life better? Maybe some of us only thought for 30 years we always wanted to be a professional ball player until we become a grand dad at 50 or a dad at 35 and realize our 10 yr old child wears us out! If we cant keep up with a 10 year old..could we ever have kept up with the best adults in the world? Im one of those people,by the way. AM I ALONE HERE? Something has shifted in Americas consciousness and the next generation of authors will have to address it! But what do WE do till then?
Ready, Set, Write Goals & Score!
An excellent, perspicacious, and thoughtful book on why a goal without a plan is nothing more than a wish. Mr. Tracy starts off talking about why goals are important, and how people with written goals are significantly better off than even people with goals, but which are unwritten. And, as Mr. Tracy says, if writing your goals down once a year is good, writing them down more often -- even daily -- is even better. Unlike his "Success" lecture recordings this book actually contains useful, actionable information, without the unnecessary partisan political claptrap that really has nothing to do with success, or goal-setting. The book is geared more towards people with sales careers. There is plenty in the book that is adaptable to the lives of non-sales people. (Also, as Mr. Tracy sometimes points out, to a certain extent, we're all in sales: the "business" of selling ourselves.) Mr. Tracy is not afraid to share how he came to understand the importance of goals in his own life. As a criminal defense attorney, I frequently purchase this book for some of my clients -- particularly juveniles. (Oh how I wish there were a Brian Tracy book for delinquent teenagers!) Chapter Two, where Mr. Tracy talks about his epiphany, is something that always catches the attention of my juvenile clients. From there, I point out that the book covers, in detail, not just WHY written goals are important, but what they've done for Mr. Tracy. After we look at Chapter Two, I emphasize for them that "he's come a long way, baby, to get where he's got to today." And I point out that, as he says, he got there by following the principles outlined in the book. Tracy walks you through clarifying your values, an analyzing your beliefs, to help you see how you are responsible for what happens to you, enabling you to create your own future. Many people have self-limiting beliefs, and Tracy talks about how that will hold you back, and encourages you in overcoming them, but also how to use your own weaknesses to help you grow -- as when he talks about making something out of your fears. Tracy talks about financial goals (there's quite a bit on this, as perhaps befits someone whose major "fear" was of being poor), family goals (you don't spend more intimate time with others, do you?), health goals (I've met him; one of my goals is to be as fit as he is), and finding your "major definite purpose" in life (you can only have one!). At times, the book gets a little bogged down in clichés. On the other hand, there's no denying that if you actually live them, those clichés can help. I also have the audio version of this book, which I've probably listened to at least two dozen times: I always get hung up on the sentence "For example, if your value is that this is a good world to live in and your belief is that you are going to be very successful in life, you will expect that everything that happens to you is helping you in some way." (Kindle Locations 429-430.) I mean, for goodness sake, isn't "this is a good world to live in," actually a BELIEF? Still, the point that your limiting beliefs are the major obstacle to success and happiness in life is pretty much undeniable. All-in-all, to borrow a term from all the cooking shows I like watching, Mr. Tracy's book constitutes a kind of "reduction" of all the best self-help books I've ever read, and I've read a lot. If, after reading Goals!: How to Get Everything You Want -- Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible, you find yourself unable to reach your goals, that can only mean one thing. You read, but did not understand, Mr. Tracy's book.

How can I begin to review a book that is so completely life changing? As one of the many average or normal people in the world who never thought there was much value in goal setting, this has completely changed my life. It has shown me that with the right tools and a willingness to move forward in life I can achieve the things I want and desire. This book is the road map to help me get there. I will caution you though. You will need to dig deep and be brutally honest with yourself. And if you can't you may have to ask those who know you best to be brutally honest with you. But it is all so you can assess where you are today and set goals that will move you forward tomorrow. This book has proven to be so much more than a simple goal setting book. This book will help you define who you are today and show you how to set AND achieve the goals of what you want in life. Bottom line, if you can make it past chapter 4 and answer all the questions completely and honestly I see nothing stopping you for having everything you set your mind to in life. Do you want to be amazing? Do you want to be at the top of you profession? Do you want to earn what those who are in the top 10% of your job earn? Do you want to have balance and happiness in your life? Do you want the tools and a plan to get all these things? THEN DO NOT MISS THIS GREAT BOOK!
Really good positive ideas that are shared.

This book has literally helped transform my life. If you want success at anything, read this book! I Highly recommend
"Never judge a book by its cover"
"Never judge a book by its cover" takes on a whole new level with this book. Don't be fooled. We all know the cover is absolutely horrible and cheap looking. However, the content of this book is gold. It's been life changing for me and I've gifted it to my wife, my brother, and my mom throughout the years. They all loved it as well.
Clear and helpful
The ideas in the book are set out clearly and very easy to understand. Short selfstudy at the end of the chapter really helps to get clear on your goals, strengths and areas of improvement. I highly reccommend this book.
Fantastic!
Brian does a great job of leading us through the skill of setting goals, reviewing them daily and reaching those goals faster than ever!
This is a personal investment in yourself!
Reading this book now. And it is such a great read. The end of the chapter questions has me journaling so much more. I've also recommended this book to every one i meet that has expressed their goals! You'll love it, and books are personal investments so just add it to the cart.

It’s alright.
This book is kinda decent if you have unlimited time to learn the ten thousand techniques it offers. It’s more of a program to dedicate your life to the book itself. Also, it is all about business, not much about solitary goals. But I am still not sure if you need a program this complex. Most people don’t have this kind of willpower.

It exceeded my expectations and as a matter of fact I'm going to read it a second time starting tomorrow. I have told 8 to 10 of my friends about it and I always tell them that I got it on Amazon.com for under $10.00 delivered. It reminds me of the famous quote: "When the student is ready the Teacher shows up". I was ready and I'm expecting some big things from myself going forward. I even designed a Daily To Do Goals Form that I now use to keep myself focused on what's really important. I will be raving about this book for years to come. I wish I could let the author know how I feel. To me it is a Masterpiece. Floyd Black, Sandy, UT
Comprehensive goal setting and achieving method
Revelation on goal setting and the subconscious mind. Biggest insight on goal setting: the 3-p formula. Positive, personal, present-tense (and add a deadline/time-element). Instead of "I want to make $50,000 a year" it would be said as a goal "I make $50,000 a year." It was big on programming the subconscious mind. 2nd biggest insight is: re-write your major/most important goals each morning and each evening. It's said that humans are a teleological organism, that we are a goal-seeking and achieving organism. What we think about most, we become or achieve, so keeping your major life goals in front of you by writing and rewriting them each morning and each evening is practical. Would recommend to anyone. They should teach this in schools.
Great read
Well... it’s definitely used (Cheeto fingers on a few pages and a random stray hair) but all of the pages are there and almost all are in great condition. There was only one little section was underlined.
Awesome!! Goal setting was never easy for me. I am anxious to be a more productive person and business owner. Thanks Brian. Best book on goals! I love all Brian Tracy books.
I liked how Brian used positive efforts to reach goals. I enjoyed his training. I am a firm believer in setting goals. Daily, weekly, monthly and annually. Anyone looking for a more effective and productive solution to setting goals. I have read bits and pieces of these theories in other books but Brian had compiled all those theories and teaches them to thousands. I thoroughly enjoy his books, audiobooks and seminars. Definitely a MUST READ for those who want to accomplish productive lives for ourself, our families and our communities!!!
Great!
Great!
Setting & Achieving Goals: Pulling It All Together
This book is extraordinarily helpful in a number of ways. Brian Tracy points out the common pitfalls of goal-setting, the reasons behind them, and what to do about it. As I read, I found myself highlighting key points or topics that I had heard somewhere before; now the pieces are fitting together! His 12-step program for setting goals is well-explained and easy to follow. He explains 8 ways to identify your special talents. The "6 P" Formula for business and personal success takes alliteration and turns into a useful tool. I have adopted his suggestion of writing down 10 goals per day for the next year (and then not looking back at the previous page!). The author predicts that 80% will have been achieved when I reflect back. I can hardly wait! I recommend that you obtain this book and apply the learning as well.
Advice you can use right away
There are a lot of great ideas that you can implement straight away. From Zero-based thinking when setting your goals to creative visualisation as an essential element in calling them in. Brian Tracy has it all. It is down-to-earth, readable and usable. I have a suite of books from Brian Tracy. This one is foundational. This book, like Brian Tracy's Maximum Achievement, is worth going over again, and again. Especially, have it handy when you are actually writing you goals and refer to it again as you implement them. As Brian indicates, the goal setting process is not a one off. You will have cause to revisit and re-write your goals over, and over again.
Great Read
Wonderful book, very inspiring
Thorough
There are some simple and powerful nuggets in here. It was longer than I expected it to be but the 2nd half of the book is very strong so well worth it.
Great book
Great book, great ideas, great map to follow and use in every facet of life. Already used it to great effect!
Life changing practices
Must read for everyone to succeed in anything you set your mind to, instead of going through life aimlessly. A life worth living of you abide by these principles
Perfect great read
Love the book just what I need.
Very Good Book
There are so many books out there on reaching you goals, I like to read them all. This is a good one, but so are many others. The principles in this book and others should really be taught in school, because they are more valuable than math or english grammer for attaining sucess in life. Of course all of these sucess books are very similar. Set a goal, repeat your goals to yourself every day and keep working until you reach your goals . It seems so simple, but why do so few people suceed in any major way. Well reading this book or others on the subject is a good starting point. Just about any book of this type will work if you acutally do what it tells you to do.
A classic
Love Brian Tracy's work. Summarises it into critical points with actions to take. Great blueprint for goal setting. Follow the chapter summaries add the "how to."
The Master of Goals
I am a huge Brian Tracy fan and this was another homerun in my opinion. He gave us a detailed guide on why and how to prepare our goals. Living with goals has been so significant in my life that I recommend them to everyone. If you disdain using goals, I recommend that you give them a try for a month and see what happens. The power is incredible. It seems that after I set goals it is like magic happens in my life and events happen in ways that I could not even imagine. I highly recommend this book to anyone but particularly young people just getting started in their careers. -Bruce Raine, author of
Superb
Brian Tracy is a blueprint to sucess
One of the most helpful and motivating books I've read. Simple in its message but powerful. No dead or fill in chapters. Every section was full of content, theories, and techniques to help change or improve goal settings. I recommend this book to everyone.
I recommend this book 100%. Not sure how anyone can give this book a bad review. Unless they have anterior motives.
Very Helpful
This book has exercises at the end of each chapter. DO THEM. It will change your perspective and you life. Make goals. Take the steps to achieve them. Give your self the best gift - the ability to follow your dreams and passion.
good read. has instructions for all facets of life.
i like brian tracy books. videos and audios. i am an avid fan of him. looking forward to buy more books authored by him.
Mostly just common sense
Quick read. A bit repetitive. Mostly common sense types of insights. Well written and easy to follow, just not as informative or helpful as I hoped for
Do you know what you want?
This book has been a life-saver for me. "Goals" have been a very important part of my life from my earliest years...but not called by that "name." I am beginning to understand from his book what a "goal" is and how to write one (or more) that puts fire in your belly to get what you want done actually accomplished.
Inspiring!
This is an incredible book for anyone , whatever stage of their goals they are. Super interesting and full of actionable ideas- I have implemented several already!
Brian Tracy fan
A very comprehensive system of goal setting. Contains a lot of redundant Brian Tracy-isms that I've heard him say elsewhere, but still applies to this book. Overall very satisfied with this book, I'm a fan of his, so I am A bit biased. If you want the 5 minute version of this book, go to the final pages where he lists out the 21 techniques to goal setting. And the end of each chapter has bullet point summaries. Ill definitely review this book in these ways.
Goal Achieved
Brian Tracy’s proven ideas in this book are easy to learn and easy to apply. These simple truths have enabled me to bring about an immediate improvement in the frequency of goal attainment through his systematic methods of eliminating the internal and external constraints. Thank you Brian.
Excellent!
Brian Tracy Rocks! Excellent Advice, as always. So helpful!
Outstanding!
Great content on goal setting and reaching one's full potential in life. Highly recommended for anyone on a personal development journey!
Dreamers or Drifters...A Must Have!
If you have never read this book, it is a must have for any one that has dreams and wants to get somewhere in life...instead of just drifting through it. I have followed these techniques and taught many to use them as well...don't just read this book. STUDY AND APPLY....and watch what happens...it works! Take your time with it and don't rush through the book...it will change your life!
Great book! Very motivating and had applicable exercises
Great book! Very motivating and had applicable exercises. Felt like it spoke directly to me and addressed the issues I need to overcome. I bought this as a Kindle book but I'll be purchasing a second copy as a paperback version to carry with me to refer to and make notes in. Suggesting to my fellow sales team.
Gorgeous
The best boook of its kind. Although all strategies and recommendations may seem obvious and very simple, Brian Tracy handles it in a way that inspires and gives you a tremendous doses of enthusiasm and vitality. It is a bless to find readings like this one in your path. The kind of gift you wold offer to those you love and appreciate.
Upbeat and Motivating
"You will become what you think about most of the time." I haven't finished it yet, but I am already starting to implement the techniques. I am trying to get my teenage granddaughter to make her list. I find many of his ideas to be an affirmation of things that have already been successful for me when I applied them fully. You cannot half-heartedly apply the ideas in this book. You must commit to follow through. This book would also be good for teens who are smart but lack direction. I believe that this book will help me achieve my retirement goals.
Changed my life
This big changed my life. I've never had written goals before. Now that I do, I find myself actually moving towards achieving them. There is something magical about that step. Not only that, the means to achieve them seem to appear. To get this impact, you have to do the work. Do all of the exercises. You can't just read it.
Great for motivation.
This book is great. If you tend to procrastinate which I'm guilty of from time to time, this snaps you back to the focus that you need to get what you want out of life. I'm not sure about the part where he makes it sound a bit too easy, it takes concentration and focus but isn't that why you would buy the book in the first place. That was my reason. I needed the mental boost.
Accomplish your goals faster than ever
I am a devotee of Brian Tracy. This book really breaks down how to set goals & achieve. Get all of his other books too. I’ve doubled my income on a year because of following his sales & other books.
Enjoyed
I really enjoyed the book and hope this review gets more people to buy and read the book. I love this book.
The Direction Book for a Successful Life
It became clear to me that my son, once he went away to college, needed something to help keep him on track. He is bright and caring but needed more direction and motivation. To make sure he was reading it regularly I decided to read it along with him. This book helped BOTH of us deal with all the crap that was holding us back from a truly happy and successful life, primarily negative thoughts. After just the first chapter I was convinced this was going to work!
Life Changing Book
Clear, concise calls to action laid out in this book. Reccomend for anyone looking to take control over there life.
Best book I've read yet
Best book I've read yet. It really puts you on the right track to achieving the things you never thought you could. Who thought that all you needed to do was set a goal and write it down! It's just the taking action part that most people miss. Great book to get you started with how to set goals and use them to achieve great things.
I recommend this book
I am a mom of 2 kids. I work full-time (3 x 12-hour shifts). I feel disorganized, trying to do so many things each day. Goal setting is nothing new, but this book goes into detail of how to reach your goals, to see what obstacles will be in the way, what steps to take to reach it, etc. I really like this book, it is easy to read. I have never read any "Goal" setting book before except Stephen Covey's "7Habits of highly effective people" .
My favorite book of all time
I read this book about four years ago and my life has gone way beyond my wildest dreams since then. The results happened right away and have continued on a regular basis since then. I just reread it and I hope to reread it every year.
Missing pages
I really struggled to give this book 2 Stars. I love this book. It had changed my life. I have bought it for multiple people cause I think it’s such a good book. If I were rating it strictly on content it would receive 5 stars, but as I was reading it I got to page 174 and to my dismay realized that it was missing the next 8 pages... it jumped straight from 174 to 183. I am checking with the other people that I bought the book from to see if they had the same issue. I will update the review in the future. I have checked with the other people that I bought the book for and neither of them have had my same issue.
I never realized the power of goal setting. It's time to experience the success I've been missing.
I've been working hard and have a lot of diffuse pieces floating around. The book gave me the ability to focus all those diffuse pieces into a laser precision. The results I've been looking for will happen now that understand these principles better.
Goals
Great Book. Must read for anyone on the journey of success. True success is finding Jesus Christ. If we seek the kingdom of God first then all these things will be added unto us. Let's Go Win Big!!! Goals all Day !!!
Just what I needed
Wow! I didn't realize how much I was missing until I read this book. I now know how to achieve my goals flawlessly and conquer my fears to lead me to my goals. I actually would like to credit Patrick Gallagher for recommending this book on LinkedIn. I actually just purchased Speak to Win to help me with my ESL issue. Thank you Brian Tracy.
Great book for those who are not goal oriented.
Good book for those who are not goal oriented or do not have initiative. The author needs a good editor, a lot of superferous information and stories without substance. Must read for those who spin their wheels and can't complete a task.

I have purchased a hard copy of this book before. Now I have added it to my Kindle App. Brian Tracy knows his stuff. I have also read other books on goal setting, and nothing comes close to Mr.Tracy's approach to goals. This is a must have!
Re: Outstanding Resource Book
I purchased this book on my Kindle. It is packed w/great advice. I would suggest buying it in hardback where you can underline important sentences in yellow and then refer back to it when needed. My Kindle is easy to carry around but for reference books....a hard copy is preferred. Great book. Great man!
Highly recommended.
This book is incredibly helpful. Not in a philosophical, self-help way, but in how it sets everything in practical terms. Highly recommended.

One of the greatest Achievement books ever written.
Brian Tracy's book GOALS is responsible for approx. 70% of all I accomplished within the last 15 years of my life. It has assisted me in my career goals, where I now earn 50% more annually than I did just a year ago and achieved various Certifications and respect in my Field, as well as my Martial Arts ambitions. It even helps me accomplish my mundane tasks in life instead of procrastinating and delaying my tasks for the "Future". The 2nd Edition now has included chapters on family life, Health and Time Management which offer sound advice which I plan to utilize promptly for my overall wellness for both myself and my family. These 3 additional subjects improve on what was already outstanding from the original ULTIMATE GOALS PROGRAM audiobook that I originally purchased back in 2007 and until this Day I have yet to read any Goals and Achievement program that surpasses GOALS in practical effectiveness in my life in accomplishing one's desires and ambitions. Go buy a copy right now! The younger you are the better and the more time you will have to enjoy all your life's dreams and purposes through accomplishments using this tremendously effective Goals system.

If You Have Read One You Hvae Read Them All!
In the market of Personal Development and Self Help there are hundreds of books, hundreds of DVDs, Hundreds of CDs and dozens of programs that are designed to help you succeed. Some are better, others worse. Goals! It is for all intents and purposes a complete guide to setting goals. He leads you step by step through the process of sitting down and setting your goals and all the way to what you need to do to accomplish your goals. If You Have Read One You Hvae Read Them All! The problem with books by Brian Tracy is that they are all very much alike. This was no exception. Many books in the industry say about the same things, just in different words, Goals felt as though it was using the same words. I didn't like feeling like I had read it before. Most of the advice can be found in other books. Who can it help? The guide itself was very good and if you haven't set your goals this book or read other books about personal development then this book will make a big difference in your life. The act of setting goals and making plans for their accomplishment is the one action that will make the biggest difference in your life. By setting your goals you are going to start pulling events into your life and make you move faster and faster towards your goals. Easy to follow steps What I did like about this book, and most Brian Tracy books, is how easy his advice is to follow. This book is a 350 page guide going from step 1 to step 2 and so on. If you haven't read these types of books before you could really use this book as a manual and just follow the steps one after the other until you are finished. My Recommendation If you are new to self help and personal development books I think this book could really make a lasting impact on your life. If you haven't set your goals and started working towards them in a structured manner, Brian can really give you some good advice. On the other hand, if you have read other books in the industry and have taken these first steps I think this book would be a waste of your time, you have already read the advice and your time would probably be used better by reading other books.
Belongs at the top of your reading list.
Over his stellar career, Brian Tracy has authored over 50 books. This one, GOALS!, was first published in 2003. I've read probably half of Tracy's books over the years and have long had this on my short list to read but for one reason or another, it never did seem to make it to the top of my reading list. What a colossal mistake that has been on my part. I won't go so far as to say this has been my favorite Brian Tracy book, but it would certainly rate in the top five. As I read this book, a recurring thought that kept running through my mind was, "Man, I wish I had read this nine years ago!" One of the reasons this book never made it to the top of my reading list is that a few years ago I purchased Tracy's audio download, How To Set and Achieve Goals, which I have listened to many times over. I thought this book would be much of the same material, but there is so much more contained hear that you simply must read to benefit from. Goal achievers know the first step in achieving goals is a line from the old Cool Hand Luke movie, "You've got to get your mind right!" That's what Tracy does here. Much of the book focuses on how to prepare mentally and avoid the mental sabotage that makes so many goals in life but a distant fantasy. There is a great deal of powerful information here on making your mind work for you, not against you as is often the case. Once you've got your mind in the right place, the rest becomes much more achievable. Each chapter is broken into bite sized pieces that really allows the reader a chance to contemplate, absorb and reflect on what you have just read. In fact, this book reads much slower than most books because you will (or at least I did) spend a great deal of time reflecting. Each chapter concludes with a brief point summary of putting to work for you the material just covered. Again, this creates another opportunity for the reader to contemplate an action plan without becoming too overwhelmed with information. Often when setting goals, obstacles get in the way that we might not even consider as having anything to do with why we might have fallen short of a goal. Tracy leaves no stone unturned here and provides valuable insight on each of these roadblocks such as time management, measuring your progress and associating with the right people to help you become successful. Along the way, the book is filled with quotes and quips that you will surely want to highlight and use on your life journey. Learn from my mistake. If you have this book on your radar but have kept putting it off to read something else, move this book immediately to the top of your reading list. You can thank me later.
Not practical
A lot of stories and examples... This book is lacking of an organized process, blueprint or system as the description promises. Abscense of science backup too. Repeating concepts and ideas.
Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Setting and Achieving Goals (But Were Afraid To Ask)
This is probably one of the most comprehensive books on goal setting that I've ever read, which doesn't necessarily means that it was helpful (but doesn't mean it wasn't, either). Just comprehensive. Brian Tracy covers pretty much the A to Z's on how to set goals, from writing them down to coming up with a plan to how to handle fear, which isn't necessarily specific to goal setting but since setting goals means doing things that are new and challenging to you, it only makes sense to have a section that covers fear. Alot of the strategies and techniques he mentions is not new and some may be common sense to those who read self help books, particularly those on goal setting. I actually talk about some of these strategies in [...]. Nonetheless, I guess at some level, the techniques do work and according to the examples he gives, it works incredibly well. I actually like some of the things he talks about, such as when he tells you NOT to tell anybody about your list of goals when you start making them so you can avoid possible rejections. I guess the argument can be made that if your problem is fear of rejection, then hiding your list of goals so you won't have to face rejection would be like hiding your fears, but I can also see his point about not having anything, including rejections, detract you from your goals. As in some goal setting books I've read, he does kind of contradict himself in some cases. For instance... in one section, he will tell you how you can achieve anything you set your mind to (well, the word "anything" encompasses ALOT of things) but then in the next section, he will tell you to make your goals "reasonable" (well, all of a sudden the field is narrowed ALOT). So, which is it? Can you achieve anything you want, or can you only achieve the "reasonable" goals? The plan he gives isn't bad. It's actually pretty good, although I don't know if I would personally use all the steps in the plan he prescribes. Just personal preference. Also, while reading his book, it's apparent to me that he is (at least in part) writing with the Law of Attraction audience in mind, as scattered throughout the book, he mentions about how, when you focus your goals, things "magically" appear and I believe he even talks about the power of the Universe. I'm not going to say whether I agree or disagree with this (that's for another discussion), but let's just say this book is very comprehensive and well... there's something for everyone. Do I recommend it? Well, I just said there's something for everyone in this book, so in that respect, yeah, I do. However, if you want something alittle more practical and research oriented, I do recommend
Brian "Mr Repetitive" Tracy
Tracy is an old school ra-ra man who believes that nothing bad will happen to anyone if only they think positive and stand in front of the mirror and repeat to themselves over and over again: "I feel terrific, I feel terrific, I feel terrific, I am worth a million bucks right now, I can be anything I want," and such inane affirmations and so 60s nonsense. But his feel-good pop psych is just that: feel-good pop psych. His claim to education is having read a pile of success books. He gives a nod to the father of this genre, Napolean Hill, and to Steven Covey, Norman Vincent Peel, Earl Nightingale, all masters of RA-RA. Like everyone else in this business, he tells his rags to riches story and tries his best to persuade us that everyone on the planet can get everything they want -- love, money, fame, health, success, etc -- the package everyone is after -- if they buy his pile of assorted merchandise, in which you would not find a single original idea. In other words, he is peddling repackaged borrowed "wisdom", in effect, spurious solutions. He churns out books (52+ and counting), CDs, seminars, webinars, repeating the same old tired "laws of this and that". He repeats the 80/20 idea like a prayer. Since the old man discovered the internet, he has got someone to set up a slick site and if you opt in, he'll spam you with hard-sales 365 days a year. He cross-sells for kickbacks other "stars" in this racket. He excels in mass producing inane stuff. If you want real wisdom, pick up a copy from your local library of the works of the real luminaries, from Marcus Aurelius to the old Greek philosophers or even a good biography of a high achiever or two. If you buy the jaded systems promoted and sold as if they are unique pearls of wisdom from the mouth of Mr Tracy Tricks, you'd be a sucker . (Tracy, of course, knows a sucker is born every minute.) His goal-achievement stuff is so 70s. He markets himself as Mr Fix-It for all the problems that best life and the man with the golden keys (for sale of course) to everything we desire. In other words, a classic phony. But he is excellent at one thing: selling tinsel-wrapped dodgy merchandise. Of late, he is planting in his stuff a caveat to seek advice from "competent professionals". That is good: if you treat Tracy's stuff as gospel, you are bound to come a-cropper. Take everything he says with a large dose of salt, especially in areas of finance. For one thing, do not follow his advice to concentrate your forces (a simplistic borrowing from military strategy) in financial planning. Better follow grandma's advice of not putting all your eggs in one basket. And if you are seeking psychotherapy, totally ignore this dangerous ignoramus! Tracy is and old school salesman. Don't mistake him for a premier thinker, expert or learned counselor. He is none of that. But his greed knows no bounds. Make him richer with your hard-earned bucks if you want. But I'm done!
Tracy is the king!
If you listen to anyone about GOALS then it must be Brian Tracy. This is a no nonsense audiobook. Take notes and apply what he teaches you immediately. You won't regret it!
Good book on goals.
This book is about setting and achieving goals. By reading it you'll learn how to set goals for a better and more successful life. The author explains the importance of setting goals, how and what exactly to do to properly set those goals and actually achieve them. It is a book that worth your time, but it has a lot of pages, it would be perfect if in my opinion the book was 150-200 pages.
Why can't I have a better life?
If you have ever wondered what's holding you back, the answer is in this book. Chapter 2 alone is worth whatever you end up paying for the book. That chapter will cause you to reflect and then help. This book is no joke. It's a how to manual. I read the first two chapters, sat back, and then made what I thought was a pie in the sky short term goal for my job. It was unrealistic and I knew it but thought I would enjoy the ride nonetheless. I'm in sales so my goal was 9 sales in eleven days. (The previous month I hit 13 sales in 30 days for comparison) So I ended up hitting 11 sales in 7 days all because of the first two chapters. First you will have to understand what you want. Then, remove your inhibitions, take away your excuses, find a way, get obsessed, get to work..enjoy the ride! This book is a life changer regardless of where you are or your education level.
To the skeptics
I think Brain Tracy's methods honestly make sense. I saw all the viewers who gave this book a bad review and how many people actually listened to them. That's sad. I think it's easier for people to believe that nothing good can or will happen in their lives than to believe in the possibilities because of how scary the disappointment can be. In the end you never take the risk and you stay exactly where you were 5 years ago. We sabotage ourselves by not trying or believing cause it's just easier, safe, and not as scary. I say give it a shot. I can say from personal experience that actually writing things down really does make a difference in the way you feel and you immediately feel confident and clear about what it is you want. You start visualizing things too which also adds to the effect of writing down your goals. There is nothing that can compare to that. I say keep at it and keep reading until you've got yourself a legitimate clear set of goals and this book and Brian Tracy is a good way to start. It'll at least get you started thinking about it.
It's a great book that shows you how to accomplish any realistic ...
It's a great book that shows you how to accomplish any realistic goals if you put in practice the tips that he taught. It could be compressed in just 100 pages if he had focused more on the tips and the twelve steps for setting goals, but it's a must read book anyway.
Book Review: "Goals!" (Brian Tracy)
Let's suppose, hypothetically, that you've never felt like you manage to finish a task. Or you have a lot of dreams and hopes, but they never seem to come to fruition. Or you spend a lot of time working, and you have no idea what you're getting out of working so much because you don't really know what you're working toward. Or you look around at where other people are and think that maybe you just lack the education, or the potential, or the drive, or the passion, or the work ethic to make it like they did. But what if you could tackle life in such a way that you knew you couldn't fail? You'd succeed at whatever you put your hand to? You knew exactly why you show up at work every morning, precisely what you're working toward, and definitively how soon you're going to achieve success? Brian Tracy, entrepreneur, businessman, and author of Goals!: How to Get Everything You Want --- Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible, may be the answer to the problem. Tracy recounts his own experience working a number of different jobs but never really getting anywhere, until he started to conduct research into the lives of top-performing business types in the field. Patterns began to emerge. From those patterns, Tracy gleaned seven key elements of setting goals and twelve steps anyone can take to establish goals and achieve them. This book is his recounting of all of that information, which he frequently presents in person to huge audiences. The book certainly provides a number of useful reminders about how to set goals based on your own personal value system and priorities. Tracy recommends things like "becoming an expert in your field" (Chapter 11) and talks about time management skills and persistence. For someone looking for a guide to take his or her life in a different direction, Tracy's book is as good as any. The message may or may not jive with some readers, who will have been schooled that the definition of "greatness" is not necessarily monetary and professional success. It may also not align with those who don't necessarily believe that you make your own luck, and you define your own greatness by how hard you're willing to work. Sometimes, hard work and dedication don't necessarily provide you with precisely the goals you had in mind. Sometimes, you find out that the goals you had in mind all along weren't really good for you. Nevertheless, Tracy is a charismatic presenter of information, and the book is worth a read if you're looking to glean some ideas on how to set and take action on your goals. # # # Title: Goals!: How to Get Everything You Want --- Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible Author: Brian Tracy ISBN: 978-1605094113 Purchase here: http://amzn.to/Z5OmaT Disclaimer: The opinions I have expressed are my own.
It's a great guide for crystallizing your hearts desires!
"Goals!" Is a great guide for crystallizing your hearts desires into an action plan. I listened to the audiobook earlier and decided to buy the updated book. Also I bought some to give to help others achieve their goals. It's a great resource. Thank you Brian Tracy for your contribution to goal achievement!
Three Cheers for Goals!
This is the most wonderful book! It has given me a whole new way of thinking about what I want and where I am headed. As a struggling, first time author new to the publishing world it has helped me to focus on how to actually achieve what I want. I really like his exercises like writing out goals and reviewing them daily. I liked his discussion of the power of the subcoucious mind. Most of the concepts in this book are new to me and very very helpful. Some of the things the author discusses are taking charge of your life, analyzing your beliefs, determining your true goals, become an expert in your field, improvng relationships, measuring progress, making a plan of action, visualizing your goals and persist until you succeed. This is amazing and powerful stuff! I found it easy to read and understand and so interestig that I stayed up late to finish reading to finish the book. I recommend it for anyone who wants to succeed in life. -- Valerie Lull, Author, Ten Healthy Teas

I bought this book in 2009 and have implemented his Goal Setting Techniques every year since then. I have a handful of books I recommend an a regular basis and this is one of them.
A wonderful book.
A wonderful book One of the best books I've read recently about goals and how to achieve them, the book explains and gives examples of how to set goals and how to achieve them.I have learned from this book more comprehensive strategies to identify and achieve the goals it contains at step 21 to determine and achieve goals and to live a wonderful life. I would advise to read it more than once.
Great book!
This is a great book that gives practical and simple yet powerful ways to clarify and work toward getting what you want. If you are pressed for time and frustrated because you can't do all the things you want to this is a great book for you. It has already made a difference to me. I read very few books twice but I will read this again.
You always feel better after reading Brian Tracy's work
I've read several books from Brian Tracy and this is one of his best. Mr. Tracy writes with such fluidity and wisdom you can't help but feel better and motivated with every page. If you get a chance to buy Brian's audiotapes/cds you will benefit greatly too. I enjoyed his holistic views of goal setting from the technical side of lists to the emotional side of "feeling" the goal is accomplished.
A book I recommend to everyone!
I have read several, actually a whole lot of goal setting books and this one is top on my list. Tracy offers many different angles to learning and setting your goals, so it easily applies to a wide variety of personalities. It has helped me from the first chapter, in a new refreshing way. Great for any stage you may be in! Get it, you will have the directions for a happy fulfilled life.
