First Aid For the USMLE Step 1 2020, Thirtieth Edition

It is a high quality printed book. The pictures are clear. The way it is written is excellent.

FA is basically the bible for med students, so here I am, worshipping at the altar of our lord and savior McGraw Hill. It's concise and to the point which makes studying easier and more efficient. I use it with Picmonic since they have a page by page follow along feature that lets me look up any mnemonics they have for the topics on a given page/chapter. Then I review everything with UWorld. I do wish I bought this sooner to help identify high yield info earlier on in school. Long story short, First Aid is a must-have for anyone preparing for Step 1!

The papers were normal a4 sheet, although it had authentic stick at back. Quality of the cover and book is so cheap this year. Manufacturer please update the quality

The 2020 version is okay...it might have added new images and stuff but the page quality and printing feels like it was rushed, and is not as great as last year's. For some reason, the annotation space feels smaller than last year too.

Best book to summarize and go over while preparing for usmle step1. Buying the 2nd time for my sister. Will definitely recommend for anyone preparing usmle step 1

Had to replace my 2019 version after my son ripped some pages out, and I actually prefer this version. Some people have complained about the quality of printing but I have not run into this issue. I received an authentic copy in perfect condition, so no complaints here. I plan on getting it spiral-bound at Staples so it’s a bit easier to manage. I did this to my 2019 version and highly recommend it.

Kindle eBook resolution way worse than 2019 edition, much less sharp and less readable.

I'm using this as I go through out medical school. It's really nice to have the need to know topics all in one place. And while I take my courses, I annotate as needed, so hopefully by the time I take STEP 1, everything will all be together.

I decided to go against other students advice and purchased this book before my first year in medical school. I would like to have board review materials with me while studying for courses so I can identify high yield information. Book arrived perfectly, even without plastic wrap.

The Step 1 Bible, the content of this book is amazing. but it’s irritating that some pages throughout the index are printed differently. Like the thickness/boldness of the font. Not much quality control printing wise.

Update - I failed to notice it initially but the copy I got has the index messed up (smudged printing issue). Please check it the day you receive it and have your copy replaced if it's defective. Genuine book .

We have a digital copy too but it feels great to have actual pages to turn and write on

Lol if you’re buying this it’s not because you want to, but because you have to. So a review won’t really make a difference to you. Butt either way, First Aid is tried and true, it’ll get the job done. It’s so thicc that it’ll dry the numerous nights worth of tears you spend crying into it. Happy studying friends.

Just buy it early and use it through second year. It is a lot to make it through just during dedicated.

Nothing compares to having the physical copy to mark up. Totally worth it

Great book, I love the cover ( plastic and vinyl mixed material ); I am a 3rd year Medical student, the content is clearly written and easy to follow. One of the MUST HAVE books you need to get if you are preparing for USMLE STEP 1. This book is supplementary for all your other sources, but not a single point of resource.

Love the new edition! Must buy for USMLE STEP 1 takers and if in basic sciences in medical school

I wish I could give it ZERO stars. I have received my order today , first Aid 2020 . The book I received is an International version of the book and the book displayed is a regular USA version. No where it’s mentioned that it’s an International edition. The product I ordered according to the information Provided and what I received do not match.

Arrived sooner than expected and the book is in great condition no printing errors. I like that it's not too glossy like other editions so less chances of smudging or bleeding through pages, I hope.

I ordered this a couple of months ago and just opened it to use during study and found that it has writing in it! The condition when I purchased this was supposed to be new! Check your order before the return window closes!

Print quality was better in earlier edition 2019/2018. package arrived nepal as mentioned but was torn and had poor protection provided. edges were deformed.

The book has been a great resource for me, since it aligns with all of my other study references. However, I find not much difference between the 2020 edition and the 2019 edition.

I’m so happy that I purchased it :) It has upgraded so much compared to my 2018 edition. A lot of changes! Many new pictures and easy to understand illustrations.

I received First Aid for the USMLE step 1 2020 book , it looks perfect finish with good quality, I'm so excited to start read it.

Very thin papers. But content is great.

I ordered this book for medical school and it arrived with damaged pages as shown in the first 4 images. I requested a replacement and there are still printing errors. As shown in images 5 and after, many of the headings are cut off and there’s a tear in one of the pages. I will be replacing it again.

They added some more pictures, and of course errata. Some people have said the printing quality is poor, but my copy was high quality. It's good to have around for studying the important details of a topic, even before you're jumping into Step 1 time. I don't always remember details well when I'm just straight reading. Thankfully the book has some memory devices included on some topics, but not always. So when I need to learn a topic, I read the section in FA, then watch the mnemonic video/take the quiz on Picmonic. They've got all of their videos organized by First Aid page number so it's easy to follow along, which is nice. There's lots of different mnemonic aids for med students that are worth checking out if you can't easily memorize 20+ pages in a study session, haha.

A must have for any student planning on taking the STEP 1

The picture is really misleading. They are selling the International edition. The content is more or less the same. But the picture quality is a little less. I just wanted to have one terribly but I'm a big disappointed

I am unable to open this book from the amazon.co.uk since i bought it. It is so frustrating.

Being told by a professor to have hands on this particular book after giving Neet Pg exams.... Seriously i regret for not buying this awesome and concise piece of all in one place manual during my preparation time... seriously whichever exams you prepare, give it a go.

I started working from the 2010 edition of this book several years ago but never took the USMLE. I'm revisiting the USMLE now and bought the new edition. I think it is worth the money. The new edition is improved - also always important to work off the newest edition, for example big new developments like CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing make an appearance (not sure which edition that came in on but it's a good example of how you need to keep up with the most recent developments). It remains a great book but it's always been a high-yield review type book so most people will need to read around the pages from other sources.

Even if you are not going to do the USMLE, this book is like the ultimate short bullet point summary you want to have at home! Key facts about many diseases and medical basics. I hardly write any recommendations, but I really think this book is worth every cent!

This book is essential for studying USMLE Step I. Very condensed, high yield material. Sometimes abbreviations are used and never expanded which can be frustrating. Also, the text appears "blurry" and not printed properly for a few pages near the end of my book.

Some really good pictures were added that were helpful! New section of easily confused drugs is a good addition. Overall, the major difference is that new pictures for lot of high yield diseases made it easier to understand the concept well. You should upgrade as lot of these pictures missing from 2019!!
