Found myself pondering the possibility that the author's world had been directly touched by the Covid 19 pandemic. Just sensed an unusual disconnect from my usually adored characters, settings and storylines. Allowing the benefit of the doubt, I pre-ordered book #45. Expecting an exciting return to the rich tapestry of Ms. Lucas's gifted storytelling.

Unbelievable but the true, it gets better with each book. When you think we are nearing the end, a new door opens for even more mystery and romance. We now get so many mote interesting characters and so many mysteries to solve. I hope it will keep to come for many years.

Dark Secrets Resurgence is the part one Dark Secrets series (generally a trilogy) and book 44 in the greater Children of the Gods series. It is the story of Sari and David. The Fates have been working overtime in southern California working their magic to bring fated mates together--completely ignoring the Scottish and Alaskan arms of the Clan. Kalugal gets a bug in his ear that tells him to get Sari and David together. With a little push, he gets David to jump down the rabbit-hole and get a new world open up to him. Sari is open to having David as her mate but she fears secrets from the ancient past will implode their budding relationship. The Fates are quite the busy beavers in this book: Making the ex-Doomer Prince a matchmaker, pairing Sari with a Dormant with a past life, and let's throw in a well-meaning drama queen to spice up the signing of the Accords.

First off I want to say again how much I enjoy this series for its imaginative premise and fun introduction of new characters with each new installment. I admit this one threw me off a bit when "David" made his entrance seemingly out of left field, but after I thought about it I realized that I.T. Lucas has used this technique just as successfully with other characters - Wonder's introduction springs to mind for example. And still I keep reading (and so should you). This one was a romp of its own, taking us to the Scottish highlands for most of its duration - one of my favorite places on the planet, by the way - after the mischievous Kalugal gets unexpectedly bitten by a matchmaking bug. I wish people really were as good-hearted as most of Lucas' characters are, albeit still imperfect (what fun would reading her work be without THAT, after all?), and perhaps this is what keeps me reading voraciously every time her newest arrives on my tablet. And I have to say here, I marvel at how pervasive the trolls of the world can be, that someone appears to have such an objection to Ms. Lucas' series to the extent that they will a) claim to knock off an installment in 2 hours (maybe they only read the little words?) and b) KEEP READING NEW RELEASES! If they're so objectionable why would "L. Marshall" keep reading, unless only so they can give it a bad rating? Is this "L. Marshall" perhaps a competing author - because based on their remarks I have difficulty believing that they ARE, in fact, actually reading any of them, or that there is not some hidden agenda in trashing them as well? At any rate, I have a suggestion for that particular, peculiar reader, for his/her own mental health: Stop reading I.T. Lucas' books. Clearly the other 99% of us really like them, and your silly little "one"'s only prove how bitter and ugly you apparently need to be to make yourself feel good, rather than lend any credibility to your remarks.

Isabel has created one of the best series I've ever read, and it has the potential to continue for years, as this world that she's created has many immortals that have waited centuries, and some millenia, or five, for their fated mates !!!!! This story focuses on Sari and David, but there is always other background storyline events going on, tidbits and breadcrumbs being thrown out there, to tease us, and keep us intrigued !!! Like with Stella, hiding a dark secret that she swore on her life to never reveal, and she's afraid if she let's Richard too close, he may uncover it with his Telepathy. Then there's Annani and David, who knew each other in one of David's previous lives, And Annani tells Sari how, but is that the truth ? David doesn't remember everything, just a bad feeling,and some teenage dreams of her, but will he remember eventually? And then there's his feelings about Annani's compulsion. He doesn't quite trust her. Something there with that ? We'll see, eventually ! I'm thrilled that the new section of the village Is being built for Kalugal and his men, and there are many, many more fated mate tales yet to come! Yet, Isabel always finds ways of keeping us apprised of the previous mated couples lives throughout the books, while intertwining the characters in new ways that keeps them in the overall storyline of this continuing saga. Also, what I love about this series is that even though there is a new romance in every trilogy, the continuing saga about these immortals and the overall storyline is still extremely satisfying, Intriguing, and never gets old, no matter what some supposed readers say!!! This is definitely a 5 star series, and more, if I could rate it higher !!!!!

Lucas This was such an unexpected new storyline with a very interesting new male character , David a psychologist, professor and author. The author has introduced this character briefly in previous books as his studies in reincarnation which caught Kalugal’s attention. Kalugal it seems, also has some matchmaking skills as he immediately thought of Sari, (the female heading Annani’s clan in Scotland), when he met David, as well as being drawn to him as a possible dormant. David has his own troubled background but his handsome charming looks win Sari over when Kalugal invites him to for the special signing of “the Accord” between Kalugal’s and Annani’s clan. Scotland being the setting for this book brought a whole new world to the series as well as focusing on new characters tees and a greater look into Sari’s storyline. There are many secondary stories lines weaving seamlessly throughout the book as well as other favorite clan characters have significant roles as well. So many new developments I was riveted to the book the entire read, the next book can’t come soon enough. I’m amazed at how fresh, exciting and original this series continues to be.

I really like the premise of the books but there is so little new content in each new book now. I can usually get through a book in about 2 hours because I learn everything there is to know by just reading the first line, or half line of each paragraph! It is a lot like watching a bunch of butterflies flitting from one flower to the next. All these little sub-stories are just annoying and after awhile it is too exhausting to keep "watching" the butterflies flit!

This trilogy takes us to the Scottish Castle. Here we get to see how the Scottish branch of the Clan lives and we get to meet a whole new set of characters. Very exciting! I’ve been wondering about them for sometime now. The plot thickens, Annani is hiding a secret, did she kill someone in the past in self defense when she was so young and vulnerable while on the run? I still don’t trust Eleanor, I keep thinking she’s going to do something stupid and get herself killed. I just hope she’s not going to be able to Compel the immortals because that would be trouble for sure. On a good note, I like how Annani’s Clan and Kalugal’s Clan are going to live together at the village. I wonder when or if Kalugal’s brother, Lokan and Carol, will join them. I’m anxiously awaiting the next book. 🤗

This series has been a fantastic ride! From book one all the way up until now, it has been an absolute page-turner. To say that this series is a "good" one to read, is a MAJOR understatement. These books allow you to be able to truly immerse yourself into the world of The Children Of The Gods, and even see it as a possibility. Lucas has made this a wonderful reading experience - again from book one, all the way up until now. The writing, the storyline, the characters, the graphic explanation of environments, the ongoing continuity of the entire series... It just all pulls you in. Absolutely phenomenal! ***Can't wait for the next Fates' installment, too!*** I wanted to wait to read this one so that I wouldn't have to wait a whole month for the next one, however once I started reading, just like all the others, I couldn't stop until it was over. Thanks again for another phenomenal read, Isabel!

Another amazing story full of rich characters. I love the ever changing storyline it keeps your interest. As usual can't wait for the next one.

I've enjoyed this series, but the last handful of editions were pretty scattershot. I enjoy a good sub-plot, but not at the expense of the main plot of each new offering. This edition, however, was more focused on the main couple in this story line which I appreciated. Still a bit going off into too many sub-plots, but it was an improvement. The things I've loved about this series was the world building, the characters that are three dimensional, and the romances that realistic within the bounds of the world they inhabit. Those elements are out in full force in this edition as well. What I haven't cared for, aside from the multiple sub-plots, is the way the stories end. I "get" cliffhangers, but Ms. Lucas' endings seem rather abrupt even so. They almost seem to end in the middle of a scene or conversation--no climactic struggles to be continued, just...a last sentence and we're done here. That all said, because of the improvements I've seen in this edition, I am looking forward to Lucas' next offering. Ms. Lucas has gone back on my favorites list.

Definitely a winner!!! The author took a bit of a break before writing this book and came back with a vengeance!! This book was an incredible infusion of fresh air into the series!!! I’ve always loved this series, but this book just felt different. There was more character depth and a more polished and empathic writing style, especially evident when dealing with difficult topics. The advancement of so many different storylines was done perfectly, while expertly moving forward with the major storylines and giving little hints and Easter eggs about the minor or long-term storylines. I just can’t say enough good things about this book. It really was a pleasure to read and I am beyond excited to read the next one!!!

Loved that the setting was in Scotland and the new character David. Richard's character has gotten boring so I like the addition of David. He is an intellectual who believes in the paranormal. His interaction with Sari has great chemistry and as a strong woman she is very challenging. The mystery between David and Annani is good writing that has me guessing. Can't wait to see if David will transition successfully, will he stay with Sari in Scotland, and will he discover the secret about the Odus. Keep up the good work I.T. Lucas!

I am so incredibly blown away!! As some one following the series I appreciate the tidbits of character spotlight and how it is expertly blended throughout as the story progresses. I particularly liked how the author built the joining of Sari and David that first time. It was beautiful and although its graphic it is never pornographic, I enjoyed the many sublayers of tenderness. I really like David, the profound post coital insight made the character feel special to me but I guess you could expect that from a psychologist. Sari's old fashioned courting aspirations make the Austen-lover in me soar. So I am hungrily devouring my book when a bit over halfway through... WAIT WHAT??????!!!!! I bit my nails until the end and now I am not sure what to do with myself until 'Unveiled' is out. Please I.T Lucas hurry up!

Really read in half a day! Every time a book is released, I devour it right away. The characters are so well developed that I remember everyone and where they fit in the family. The storyline is so well done I remember the smallest detain or the author reminds you so you lose track from book to book. So now,the Clan community is growing. I like how everyone is willing to trust, even without Annani's influence. I'm surprised I'm not bored after 45 books. Love the series and await the next book in November.

While I like new characters, I think David's character was rushed. Being a professor at an Ivy League university takes a lot of hard work, yet reduced to a two day I love you relationship is rushed with no depth to it. At first I thought this was going to focus on David, but I read about Sari's insecurities as a leader. Strong women characters are often written with some type of insecurities that's seems reasonable, but Sari's insecurity about her mother's possible relationship with someone that reminds her of David is a bit much. Yes I'm curious as to how Annani may have met David reincarnated, sounds intriguing, yet sad. I'm also curious about the Odus and their story. My belief is the Odus are sentient beings, a perhaps David's story in entertwined with the immortals that way?

I’ve read all the books and patiently wait for the next book to come out. I love this series and I also love that the writer is dedicated to writing. You don’t have to wait 3 months for the next book to come out. She usually has a new book a month after the next which is awesome with series books. A lot of writers create series books and you have to wait forever for the next one - not her. LOVE LOVE LOVE that!! Plus the next book that comes out still involves the people from the previous books - they’re not just dropped like a bad habit when the next book comes out. A new couple every 3 books and you still get to hear from previous couples in most books. Win win!

I recently had a hip replacement and wanted a set of books to keep me busy for the long recovery time and WOW!!! Did I ever choose well! I couldn't put this wonderful collection of pure enjoyment down. Each book held my interest to the very end, (a rare treat) leaving me yearning for the next adventure! I have been spoiled plowing through all 44 books, but now I have to wait for the next release...no worries...in the mean time I will read up on Annani's sister! Yay! I’ve been following this series from the beginning, and each book brings out more facets of each characters psyche. Each book delves more into the individual stories of the numerous characters. This book is no different, and it’s a must-read! I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Never disappointed with the new story. Just when you think there can't be another twist, a new character something that hasn't been in a previous story you are proven wrong! I find David and Sari to be very compelling, completely fascinating and leave me wanting more!! A window was opened into Annani life that needs answers to the questions presented. Waiting another month for more of this incredible series is torture! Thank you for one of the best, most captivating series I have ever read.

Happy to see the series include the Scottish members of the clan. Sari, the leader of the Scots, wants and deserves a mate. David seems to be the perfect answer. Annani’s memories provide a jolting thread to this story. The subplots, as usual, also engrossing. Can’t wait for the next episode.

So cool to see a side Sari, since not much is shared about her except she's Kian, Amanda and Alena's sister, overseeing the Scotland Clan and busineses. Not only was it strange for Kalugal to play matchmaker, Annani's reaction has me feeling this is going to be interesting.

Sari has always been a part of these stories, as part of Anani’s family, but not a central character. Here she’s the h as Khalugal decided his friend David was a good match for her. These books are like a TV series you enjoy and wait for the next episode.

After binge reading all of the books in the series this summer, this book was a let down on what happened so far. David and Sari love story felt like it was thrown together quickly by a ghost author and did not fit with how the previous books were put together. Sari comes off desperate and crazy even though the fated at first sight is implied which I understand but it wasn't put together right for this story. Plus who wants a reincarnation of her mother's previous lover that's implied in the story. Annani was previously depicted as light goddess of love leading her clan to help humanity while growing her clan and helping immortals to survive but now the author decides to add a darkness to her character which is not a good way to go after 44 books. I'm still waiting for her husband to come out of stasis so her mate can help her. Hopefully the fans don't have to wait long for snippets every couple of months before her happily ever. I'm disappointed but I'm not giving up. I still love the way the author includes the previous characters in each book which is unique and ingenious on her part. I didn't want to give a low review but constructive feedback is a must.

Finally the fates are.smiling down on the Scottish arm of the clan, Sari finds her mate in an unexpected guest. David is a young professor, but highly respected for his research into PTSD. He takes a sabbatical in order to concentrate on writing his second novel that holds his true passion. When he lands in Scotland and arrives at a castle his entire life is about to change. I love how David questions everything, but yet accepts it as well. I look forward to seeing how their relationship grows.

I am enjoying this grand saga. I am a fan and have read all the books so far. The story has envolved beautifully. This book is for Kian’s sister Sari. She is the leader for their family in Scotland. Sari has been waiting for some blessings of her own with mates. So far they have not had any, but her cousin surprised her with a gift. He brought her a potential dormant male to see if there is an affinity. This begins this book. Read On!

With the new character, David, who became a friend of Kalugal, the trip to Scotland became even more interesting. Sari was hosting the agreement/accord with a surprise in store for her. Always great writing.

I am hooked on the story and ready for the next one but it seems like the novels take up about three fourths of the book and the rest is a recap of the previous stories. Disappointing when I'm checking to see how much more there is left to this story, and many of the others, and it's ended but very unfinished. Now I must wait for another month plus to read the next one.

New lovers, new substories and a not so happy Annani. Lets see how this plays out in the following books. Can't wait for the next two books - I guess it will be a trilogie as usual.

I fell in love with the very first Children of the God's novel. I love each and everyone of their stories. She combines a beautiful fictional world that feels so real that I wish I could somehow make it into their world. I've come to love all these characters and can only imagine what they mean to Isabell. I know the bad guys have to exist but if you could keep them at bay a little longer please do so. There are way to many wishes to be fulfilled and babies to be made. PLEASE NEVER STOP WITING THIS SERIES!!! Your eternal follower, Carrie

I actually thought this series would be ongoing for sometime, so maybe I'm reading to much into that. I read this in one day and was totally enthralled. I am waiting with baited breath for the next chapter. That is the hardest part for me, ugg, I want it now, LOL

Can we trust Elanor? So Glad that Vlad finally found his Mate. But who is his mysterious father and are there other new dormant's coming into the story. I hope that this series keeps going. I want Clan Mother to find her Mate. So happy to have seen Sari find her mate.

I like for the most part the jumping from different characters

Did Professor Levinson fall down the rabbit hole or is he in the twilight zone? Perhaps he is having a psychotic break but he plays along. Will his paranoia take control or will logic win out? Vlad’s mom, Stella has a secret she is keeping from everyone including her son. How bad can it be that she will give up an opportunity to have her fated mate? And finally is Eleanor gaining friends only to break their trust?

I love this series. its easy to read, full of great imagination and you wish it was real. I.T. Lucas is my favorite author. I don't know how she manages to pub!ish a new book every other month. I hope she keeps on writing this series for many years to come. I just finished book 44. I read it in one day. Couldn't put it down.

For 43 books, I've been so invested in these people of Annani's clan. When this story headed to Scotland, I was afraid I would be disappointed to leave the previous story line. Instead, as is usually the case with these books, further plots evolve. Will the Sari find a mate? What is Stella's big secret? Can Eleanor really change? What secret is Annani holding out about David? Why was Kalugal's smile so big? I loved this book like all the others and hope to the gods there is still plenty more coming. It's so hard to wait for the next book!!

If ypu made it this far in the series then you are as addicted to it as i am. Nothing i say is going to change that. But if you have not started the series and for some obscene reason you are deciding to start here, then i would suggest that you start at the beginning. This series is very original and the characters are very likeable. I like how after a couple books you get a different perspective and new characters to learn about. In this book we have just hopped over to Scotland and are going to start learning more about that arm of the clan. This is one of those series that you cant wait till the next book is out.

This is the first time I’ve ever given less than a five star review to any book in this series. It felt to me as if the normally exciting author had had this book ghost written for them. The usual style felt absent and I had very little connection to the main 2 characters, in particular the male half of this bonding. There was far too much prevarication in the progress of this coupling and I wasn’t as invested in the story arc the way I usually am. I’m hoping this is not a sign of things to come, because I LOVE these books and have enormous respect and admiration for the author. I love the fantasy world created for these characters and the canon seems entirely possible. I’m really hoping the next book in the series will return to its usual cracking storyline and redeem my faith in what has been, for me, only the second series of books in my life (I am 68 !) that I would UNRESERVEDLY recommend to other readers. If this is the first review you’ve read for this series of books, don’t be put off by my comments here, go back to book number one and start your journey with this author, there. You will NOT be disappointed. I WILL be reading book 45 and onward as originally planned, I’m praying that I continue to enjoy their awesomeness ! 🤗
