An immense display of mana in front of the Knight’s Order has earned Myne the attention of nobles. The result? Yet more people appear hoping to exploit the young apprentice shrine maiden’s value. And so the High Priest decides to shelter Myne in the temple to safeguard her from the impending danger he foresees. But Myne’s main concern is still books, and she works to advance the printing process so that their price falls and more people can buy them. Her long winter in the temple away from her family begins, but everything changes as the harsh winter passes and the spring nears, offering a glimpse into what the future holds for this biblio-fantasy.

Enjoyed this so much

My first encounter with this story was the anime adaptation, then the mangas and now I’m reading the light novels. I really like the light novels because it goes into more detail than the other mediums and it actually help me to better understand the anime. The caste system society in this story is very complex and even the different areas within each place is complex, like the temple. The temple has it’s own caste order that’s different than the noble’s. Even the commoners have it’s own system depending on the job you get, etc... The world building is just insane but I love and try my best to keep up. The religion is also complex and plays a big roll in the use of mana/magic. The main character Myne is a young lady from our time that’s reborn into this world, while keeping her memories. Since this world is more like our medieval time, she’s creating/inventing things left and right and is just an all around oddity to the other characters. She’s been lucky and has a lot of folks helping her. She’s really struggling in this book with being a commoner but needing more power to protect herself and her family. She will have to make hard decisions to stay true to herself while surviving the harsh caste system. Things I didn’t like: This story is told from several perspectives and you can’t always tell whose POV you’re reading from until a few paragraphs in. Maybe insert the person’s name before each POV change? A person is executed in this and I thought that was way too harsh and yes, the person was an a$$ but I wouldn’t have gone that far. Was this just to create a super revenge plot later? I didn’t even hate the character enough for them to be a root cause of a revenge. I like the story so far overall but for being in the children’s genre, it has some gruesome implications thrown in. As an adult, I enjoy the drama and intrigue of this story.

Solid Continuation

If you've enjoyed the rest of Ascendance of a Bookworm, you'll love this volume as well. It continues the theme of a wholesome book-loving maniac stuck in a brutally realistic look at a magic infused medieval society. The author continues to be true to their world building and expands what we've seen slightly, bringing to light just how large of an impact that Myne's shenanigans may have. 10/10, I can't wait for volume 4 to release.

I can see the heartbreak coming . . .

I only wish the licensing/releases were quicker. I really love this series and can't wait for the comeuppance of the High Bishop.

The transition from Myne to Rozemyne continues to progress, the storytelling remains good

New locations and characters are introduced but the precious times we glimpse Myne's family and downtown family get shorter and shorter with some familiar and loved characters not even appearing anymore in this volume. I anticipated this but this still makes me sad as I can't get comfortable with the new setting yet. I'm sure I'll eventually get there. I only wish that the release dates for each release are faster - at least monthly instead of bi-monthly. This book is also the shortest of all volumes released thus far. The entire series will be completed in Japan by the release of the last volume in Dec, but we're only on volume 9 (out of 25 volumes!). At this rate, the series will end around 2023...sigh. My only comfort is that it's still a shorter wait than ASOIAF.

Wonderful.

As always, I love reading these books. It appears many things I critiqued in the last book have been amended, and for that you have my high praise as well. The story was very fluid and hard to put down. I would still suggest a few things, such as expanding the character info in the front into a glossary. Include all words that are from Myne's world even if they appear obvious like parue and even if it's only mentioned once in the book. That way if readers ever forget a word, or character, we can simply look it up. Also, since you refer to the High Priest as Lord Ferdinand quite often you may want to include that at the beginning. It's been awhile since I've been back to this series, I forgot for several pages who Ferdinand was. Likewise, when switching perspectives please give us better clues to who we are currently following within the first paragraph or so. That would have been helpful with Damuel's bit. I love what you're doing with the story, how it's gradually getting darker bits as Myne gets more politically involved and see more of the world. I would just say, 'don't be shy about making the story darker'. Those bits are major attention grabbers and keep readers involved in the story. I love to see the "normal" perspectives from characters other than Myne on the darker parts of society and politics as well. Also, great job with reducing the tedious mechanical explanations in this book. I also really like how Myne ran out of knowledge about the printing press and it's now guessing on its creation. That's much more realistic. I still think pictures for the machines might work as a better description than words, (visual aids, if you would), but in lieu of that, cutting the tedium is still wonderful. Once again, thank you ever so much for this wonderful new world to emerse myself in, and I eagerly await your next installment.

wonderful series

This is part of the light novel rewrite of the 500 chapter web novel that has inspired a manga and simply excellent anime series. I call the anime series the anime for anime haters, and the light novel is the original that the anime series is an abbreviated version of. If you want to introduce a friend to anime, that is the series for them to watch if they at least have grandchildren. If you want a fun read that tracks a 5 year old over a period of 20-30 years as their pet obsession with books transforms their world at all levels, the light novel series is for you

Gods and Goddesses beware

Fantastic and fantastical. Magical even. More and more characters to develop as Myne continues to grow. And more and more magic. Yet the biggest magic of all is Mynes sincere heart. And her incredible gift drive and desire to share books and stories. Looking forward to more. Everyone who sincerely gets to know her grows as well.

Obsessed

I'm not going to lie I am very obsessed with these light novels, just reading about this girl's Adventures just brings a smile to my eye it says if I'm really there I can't help it get dragged a lawn mower to buy the entire spread as well as pre-ordering the next one to come out in June because darn it all I it need more. But I generally think the writer for giving us this incredible story and I really can't wait to see how the next book is going to take us I am literally at the edge of my seat at this point we only have two more years and I'm not sure if she's going to do a Time step or not but just even the little interactions is little girl goes through I can't help but smile no matter what happens I know it's going to be a joy and I can't help being dragged along with them.

Great sequel

Great sequel. Some solid world building were actions have believable consequenses and were the author shows that innovation builds on previous inventions. I am intrigued by the plot and character development which is somewhat rare in light novels. There is only a minimum of over the top behavior by Mayne and the changes in point of view at the end give a more normal perspective on things.

I enjoy this series

This is a series I wish I found after it had concluded, because I burn through each book in one afternoon. And then I'm left waiting months. I've been reading the manga and watching the anime along side reading and I have to say I thoroughly enjoy the little side stories at the end of each book. Poor Gutenberg.

Great series!

I love how this series has taken an amazing twist! If you haven’t already, you need to add this series to your library!

Amazing

There's no words although there is one character I could live without, that would be the annoying character forced upon dear and delicate myne. I particularly dislike this type of character and AVOID them at ALL costs, however I have come to love mine and this story line so much that with some grueling effort I can read his annoying character. just my opinions on the book I hope not to see more of him but all in all an amazing read well worth it

Loved it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the continued adventures of Mien and her pursuit of creating books to read. Seeing her growth as a character, from her initial self-serving desire, change to encompass those around her. Has been a treat. I am hoping that she will learn to tone down her excitement in the future so she doesn't pass out. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series.

Great story

This is really a great story and I am glad to see that they have continued with translating the rest of the series. If your looking for more than the typical Shonen type isekai then this is the series for you. Its a great mix of slice of life mixed in with a little fantasy adventure.

I want more!

I love this series so much. I wish they were translating and publishing them faster. As to the actual plot, things are getting more tense and interesting with the nobles. New characters were interesting too.

Great series

I’m so glad that this series exists. Every time I’m left wanting to read the next volume. I’m just glad that they come out quickly.

Yay! A new way to book smol!

So much more detailed & (believe it or not) fun than the anime series - though I thoroughly intend to keep watching the series as long as it keeps running.

a great continuation of a great series.

By now I've fully fallen in love with all of these characters and I can't wait to see what they'll do next

❤️

I like the concept, very funny and informative, an isekai you will love !!! I love the Gutenberg group 😆 Please release more volumes!!! MORE!!!! I NEED MORE TO READ!!!!

Great book

I love how the story continue. Myne as unpredictable as ever and getting into trouble. Love how this book has more detail that the anime adaptation.

My favorite isekai story.

The awesome story continues! This volume is just as good as the others.

Best Thing EVER!

I have never read such an enthralling an amazing story. The pure emotions that swelled within me as I read this book were so amazing that I actually started crying. This was the best investment I have ever made and rest a sure I will be buying the rest of the series.

Gateway book to light novels

I love the world building in these books! I hope the author writes a lot more of these. I'd love to see what innovations and social reforms Myne stumbles into as she reaches adulthood.

Amazingly lovely

I picked this up after finishing the anime’s “season 2” because I just can’t wait to know what happens next. It’s safe to say I will be buying the volumes before this one to know what happens in between scenes not shown in the anime as well. Onto the next volume!!

Great!

This starts where season 2 left off. The continuing adventures of myne and her love for books in a different world

The world got bigger

The quality is still excellent. The world got bigger and more complex. The family and people she cares about also increased.

Love this series!!!

I can’t wait for the next book to come out. What I would do for it to be released tomorrow cannot be expressed in so few words. Keep up the good work and please release the next 3 books tomorrow.

Rating of enjoyment

I have loved this series since I started reading it and has been fantastic for adding more into the story. A normal 5 star review for a book that is worth every word in its story!

Amazing

After watching the anime and being left on such a cliffhanger I knew I had to go and buy the novel where it left off at. I was not disappointed. An amazing read that keeps you hooked and wanting more.

Loved it

It is a great read and I enjoyed it b b b b b b b b b b b

Great Read

Looking forward to all the rest. I am now rereading the rest of the series up to book 11 and I cannot wait for book 12

Great story!

Great story!! Continuation of series.

Fast delivery

Fast delivery and well-packaged. Bought this as a gift, and he enjoys it!

Continues to be great!

If you've been enjoying this series, have no fear, this volume lives up to the excellence of its predecessors. While some important things happen in this book, overall Part 2 Vol. 3 of Myne's tale feels like it's about ramping up the tension and setting the stage for future drama. If you haven't been following this series, you should, but you should start with the first volume, not this one. In short, this is a reincarnation-type isekai story starring a sickly little girl as its protagonist. In her previous life, she was obsessed with books, yet this new world is nearly bookless. Thus she embarks on a quest to manufacture paper, ink, a printing press, and more in a bid to fill the world with books. Expects lots of heartwarming family / friend interactions, as well as an emphasis on medieval urban life.

Absolutely wonderful world building!

A great sequel, funny characters and great world building. Everything I can ask for in a fantasy. Can't wait for the next book!

I loved it

I read this in 5 hours in the course of 3 days :,) I wish I didn’t finish it so quickly tbh. Now I have to buy another one!

it’s an extremely enjoyable series that always puts a smile on my face.

I’m not an avid book reader but I enjoy my fair share of books. Obviously I’m sure most people who would have heard of this light novel series has watched the recently serialised anime series (part 1 & 2). This book is a perfect follow up of the last episode in part 2. It leads on from when Ferdinand reads Myne’s memories. I don’t usually manage to get through books quickly as I’m a slow reader but I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I managed to get through the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the world building and depth of the interactions between characters and their individual development. The book has been translated perfectly to suit the English language (if not better than the level you’d see in a YA fantasy novel). I did find it a little weird that they switched to different characters taking on the first person later on in the novel (the rest of the novel is Myne speaking in first person) but it suited the pacing of the story and allowed us to gain a stronger insight to the perspective of new characters introduced in this book. Overall it’s an extremely enjoyable series that always puts a smile on my face. I look forward to reading more of this series...!

Reading this series just makes me so happy!

I love this series of Light Novels so much. This book is no exception. Full of wholesome characters with a very bookworm centric plot - this is an isekai series with heart. True, there are still villains in these stories, but all of the characters we meet make me want to learn more. This is the first book in the series that I've read since watching the first season of the new anime adaptation - and I am still in awe over how happy reading these makes me feel.

Addicted

These books are literally so good I’ve been reading and then rereading them over the course of lockdown. So worth the 4 pounds and even more. I only wish more of it was translated but J-Novel translates a few chapters a week so I can’t fault them. It’s my first light novel but an enjoyable read.

Amazing

I really enjoy these novels please don't ever stop writing th ed m haha I watched the anime first but couldn't wait so I came to read :)

Amazing story

This story had me hooked from start to end. I think Myne's love for books is a bit too infectious.

Loved

I read this in 2 days and omg cant wait till the next one, I'am really excitted to see what will happen (english is not my first language so please ignore the mistakes)

Excelente lectura

Me encanta que maneje temas de comercio y dé consejos sobre cómo se deben hacer los negocios. Realmente para mí vale la pena. Acción, aventura, conocimiento, las perspectivas (historias) de los personajes secundarios. Todo está excelente.

Couldn't put it down

I love this series. I started watching the anime first and then went on to reading the manga and light novel. It's such an interesting story and I love all the characters.

Great writing for a great story.

I love this series. Its easy to ready but not to childish.

More of our cherished bookworm that is always welcome

This book is more of the same for the fans in a good sense. As per usual we have some very likeable new characters and the both expected and fantastic world building. A great read.

Fantastic series

For someone who does not read very often I binge read this entire series in the span of a week. Once I found out the publications were on Amazon I ordered all of them. Great work and really good story.

Loved it!

Loved the story. I had started watching the anime version and wanted more. I read the Part 2 Vol 3 in 3 days whenever I am off work. It's difficult to put down the book and stop reading. Can't wait for Volume 4 to finish.
