I knew nothing about Lisa Bevere nor ‘Without Rival...’ This book touched my heart so much that I not only read but put it on my audible and listened to help me before I fell asleep. This is a book that shows you your giants and that Jesus is in control of it all! Lisa gives you questions after every Chapter and even if you do t write it down, the questions stay in your head. The one man, besides Jesus and David, that I admire the most is Daniel. He knew the law and knew he couldn’t pray to his God, but he did! And that’s what we need to do as Christians in today’s world! If we don’t embrace Christ then we are no better than someone who knows nothing about The Lord!! I’m so happy I have the book on audible, because the enemy is always ready to strike and if the Word of God is in your ears, he may try attacking more BUT YOU have The Lord..and Lisa will give you the scriptures to back you up! Remember the devil was just a fallen angel..he KNOWS he is defeated at the Cross!! Praise the Lord!! Thank you Lisa! Without Rival is incredibly encouraging and a fantastic book for females of all ages to read. It's empowering and a kind reminder of the truth - we have no rivals when it comes to Gods love. There is a place for every beautifully made individual.

we did this for a womens bible study that i lead with my mom and it was awesome. the women said they started to feel a greater sense of confidence and self esteem. competing with other women and struggling with jealousy is something that a lot of women are afraid to talk about. this book was very touching and hit on some great points.

She addresses some of the most common problems we women face from the world around it, including the comparison trap, body image criticisms, anxiety and general criticism and shows us how to reclaim our identity as daughters of the king, uniquely gifted. She also offers some interesting stories of women in the Bible to illustrate how Jesus empowers women, contrary to what many others have said.

In our insecure world where everyone is constantly bombarded with other people’s “highlight reels” on social media, this book is life-changing in helping its readers to truly believe that each one of us is a unique and precious creation of God, created for a specific purpose that no other person could ever duplicate. Lisa Bevere’s humble transparency about her own times of dealing with the same insecurities that I deal with somehow gives credibility and deep meaning to the truths she presents about being uniquely created and loved! I will surely read more of ber books, and give this one an eeeeaaasy 5-stars!!!

This was an interesting and empowering leisurely read, and I'll definitely be getting myself a physical copy of this book at some stage.

This book has helped me to grow so much. Helped me to be more accepting of who I am. Caused me to become more open to what my desires and dreams are and see those as unique and part of what God intended me to be and become. It has helped me to think about the things I have heard while being a Christian which have just caused me to constantly feel defeated because I have used them to compare my life to what others say I should be.

This book has helped me so much in overcoming fear and giving me the strength to dream again, to forgive others and myself. I find myself looking forward to the next trial instead of dreading it. I will overcome by pressing into the Rock with praise and thanksgiving instead of trying to get my own way, deflecting or running away.

This is one of my favorite books. I used it for my women's discipleship group and they loved it. I loved it. This book is rich! There is a wealth of treasure on the pages. I am certain God inspired the manuscript. The research and scripture Lisa uses in this book needs shared with every single women. Men too can benefit from reading this book. Two thumbs up!! Too many times we fail to step up and step into the role, calling and life we are ordained to be in because of the comparison lies we choose to listen to. There is a chapter here about love versus fear that you CANNOT miss. It totally revolutionized my perspective on love, forgiveness, trust, belief in others, and it empowered me in God to revive relationships I thought lost. Went to a woman’s seminar at C3 church in San Diego, CA. Lisa Bevere was the guest speaker and she was absolutely incredible. She spoke about her book and related a lot of things to the Bible. But the kinds of things we learned that day were invaluable. She spoke about how we compare ourselves to other women and how social media can be used for our advantage or disadvantage. I highly recommend this book !!!

Not really the best book I've read -- I listened to it on audible, before I oped my copy from amazon to read. I didn't enjoy it, so I returned both the audible & amazon books.

Great reminder of who our God is and who we are in Him.!!! We must remember how unrivaled our lives are in Jesus and how unrivaled the spirit of God within us is.

Lisa has gone too far and I followed her all the way there and back. I live without rival today and have taken what she taught in Girls With Swords to the hilt and have made the choice to serve with purpose, passion and answer the call to women to save other woman by showing them this new strength that has set me free.

I love how Lisa cuts right to the core of our modern day lives and strips away all of the pretense to get at the heart of what we need (Jesus) and how we need to be truly set apart in this world.

This book is saving my life. I spend too much time listening to the enemy feed me lies. I spend too much time comparing myself to other people. Jesus wants more for us than that. He didn’t die on the Cross for us to envy thy neighbor, but rather to love thy neighbor.

I loved this book, I had numerous a-ha moments as I really connected with what the author was saying and how relatable she is.

Lisa reminds us that we are awesome & amazing- despite what the world around us says.

I purchased the paperback version of this book and had a hard time staying engaged. I decided to then get then get the Audible version in hopes that hearing the author's voice would help. I found the author to be extremely monotone and unenthusiastic on Audible. I expected this book to talk about competition and comparison amongst our peers, other women, and maybe professionally. It touched on that but seemed to focus on women preachers and rivals against Christianity as a whole. It's just not what I expected from Lisa and I hate I bought two versions of the book and didn't get anything out of it.

Realizing that you are loved uniquely causes a mindset shift. It removes a desire to compare and puts your focus back on the purpose God created you for. Getting permission to be me, a unique daughter of God, is very liberating

I loved this book. There were so many sections that spoke to me personally. I am learning to live without comparison but it is hard sometimes. I highly recommend it.

Lisa Bevere believes God has a purpose for each of our lives. Often, women struggle with living out this calling for various reasons. The author takes us through some of the obstacles we throw in God’s way, not the least of which is comparing ourselves to other women and treating each other as competitors. Bevere begins the book with the most necessary thing to living out our destiny, the recognition of who we are in Christ. Interestingly enough, only after revealing who we are to the Lord, does she disclose some of the characters of God himself. This seems backward to what most of us have been taught. It is only after the author walks us through the hindrances many of us face to living our calling, such as letting fear rule our life instead of love, that we come to the chapter that uncovers why Bevere placed the discovery of our identity before that of God’s. This most captivating chapter tells the story of a martyr named Photina. This woman of God, along with her sisters and sons, lived out her faith in an almost unbelievable manner. After we learn Photina’s final fate, Bevere reveals how this martyr’s life of faith began. (I will not give anything away by telling you who it is. You will have to read the book.) As we traverse the road to Photina’s conversion, the reader comprehends the importance of unveiling ourselves to God. In recognizing who we are to Him, we come to understand who He is. Bevere teaches basic truths of living out our destiny in Christ while helping us realize real obstacles we face in accomplishing it. Any student of the Word will appreciate her reliance upon scripture as the basis for her advice. Even though this book was written for women, its message rings true for both genders.

It gave the peace I needed, the guidance I was looking for and stories to inspire me. I was in conflict with a few minor things, just because she expressed her thoughts very strongly and with confidence in areas I thing are still confusing subjects to me.

Amazing and uplifting book

I did this Bible study which prompted me to buy the book. It is an amazing book which makes you think without putting limitations on God and your relationship with Him! Great read! Highly recommend it!

I needed the message of this book, to be reminded that we are individual and unique. That we are created without rival and our uniqueness is designed to compliment not cause us to compare. Well worth the read.

We used this book for a missionary ladies Bible study. It reminded us who we are and what we can accomplish by walking in that knowledge. Lisa's stories were practical, relatable, and many times comical. The scriptures she referenced were, of course, life giving. The book (and the Holy Spirit working through it) sparked us to speak words of life to one another and encourage each other not to listen to the lies of the enemy. We read individually and then met together to watch the DVD and go over the discussion questions. The questions made us really think about what we'd read and, by actually discussing them, it made us dig deeper, providing more revelation rather than just head knowledge. This book is a great balance for those who spend a lot of time serving, praying for, and generally focusing on others. It was a very edifying and energizing tool for us.
