Welcome to the coziest, vampire-owned tea room in Bath! It’s steeped in magic and mystery.

You’d expect serving afternoon tea to a high-society ladies club to go smoothly, right?

Newbie witch and marketing whiz Minnie Wells thought so. She’s in need of some smooth sailing, considering her plate is full with magic lessons, marketing the tea room, and navigating a divorce during the most romantic time of the year. But the women’s “Galentine’s” Day celebration is thrown into chaos when their event coordinator is stabbed in the back with a pink stiletto.

Now her handsome boss (who Minnie might have a little crush on) is in hot water with the vampire council and the group’s down a guide.

When Minnie’s offered the position for the weekend, she eagerly agrees to show the women around the gorgeous city of Bath. Not only to make some extra cash so she and her black cat can stop crashing on her vampire bestie’s couch, but also because she’ll get an an all-access pass to snoop out the killer and clear her boss’s name.

When another body turns up though, Minnie suspects she may be in over her head!

Will Minnie figure out who’s got it out for these upper class ladies and save her boss from the vampire council’s wrath? Or will the killer tire of Minnie’s meddling, and have a score to kettle?

Pull your armchair closer to the cozy crackling fire, sip your steaming tea, and find out now in With Scream and Sugar!

If you like charming towns, a hilarious cast of lovable characters, and twisty mysteries, you’ll love Erin Johnson’s lighthearted whodunnit. With Scream and Sugar is the second book in the Magical Tea Room Mysteries.

Regency Ruins front

When you find an interesting new series, sometimes the 2nd story is slightly not as intriguing. Fortunately, this is not true of With Scream and Sugar. Minnie is back with all the sass she started with in the 1st of the series. Fitz is hauled in front of the dreaded Vampire council due to another murder in the vicinity of the tearoom, the tour guide of the Regency Group celebrating Galentine's Day in the restaurant. Minnie rather naively speaks up for him at the meeting. Leader Darius wants Fitz confined to the vampire nest, declaring that that the murder brings too much attention from humans. When she offers to find the murderer, Darius gives her 3 days or Fitz must lose his independence. Something is off about him but Minnie is determined to get justice for both Fritz & the tour guide. Because she just can't lose him now.

The series is great

Why I chose this book? It is the second book of my series, and it is great, the author is great too. The book has a wonderful flow and the characters are consistent. My favorite characters are Minnie and Tilda, The Cat. She is wanting to get back on her feet and is working in this unexpected Butler Cafe, when all of the sudden there is another murder in a small amount of time. Minnie needs to solve it if she want her boss to be out of hot waters with the vampire council. If you want to know what happens, I suggest, as always, get the book, it is well worth your money. I gave if five stars because Erin Johnson's writing deserves it, and yes, I highly recommend this book. Thank you.

Vampires, murder and a spa weekend

Thoroughly enjoyed the second book in this series, highly recommend it. Minnie is enjoying her new job at the tea rooms when another murder occurs. Unless she can find the human killer both she and her vampire boss will be in big trouble with the vampire council. Not to mention its Valentine's day and she seems to be having feelings for both her boss Flix and one of the detective on the case. Can she solve the murder case and her feelings? Can't wait for the next book in the series

Fun Series

I am enjoying where this series is going. The heroine is very good at investigating murders. The clues come together at a good pace and the ending is complete with no loose ends. Her vampire friends are kind and loyal. And she has a mature outlook on life. Thankfully! Good book.

Minnie what’s next?

I love these tea room mysteries. Erin puts together some interesting characters and uses diverse circumstances to tell a spellbinding tale that keeps you entertained and unable to put them down. I want her ex to get his comeuppance. Gus and Fitz and the Butler Boys are a fun part of it all as well.

Devoured this book!! (Hahaha)

I am enjoying this story about a wonderful place that has such history, in such a great story mixed with history, classic literature, with a beautiful twist of friendship, supernatural all in a cozy mystery!

Good story

The further adventures of Minnie, Fits and Gus after another murder. While the "how" was easy to figure, the who was a little harder, unless you are on your toes. Looking forward to the triangle!

Wonderful

A truly cozy supernatural mystery, this book has a great world set up with characters that you care about (or despise). The plot was excellent and the Regency touches well done.

Fabulous

I love this series. The story is fun and interesting. I start reading and can't put the book down. Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series

With Scream and Sugar

There were quite a few screams involved. This book was another of Erin Johnson’s tales that I could not put down until I had read to the end.

With scream and sugar

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are fun and the story line moves right along. Now to read book 3

Valentine's or Galentine's?

Either way the gang at the tea shop is in hot water again...and not the kind from putting the kettle on....

Great read

I really enjoyed the story and the mystery and the characters. A great weekend, rainy day or vacay read.

What a great read!

Another great one by Erin Johnson! A wonderful Valentine's Day read as well, if you like a bit of murder and cute romantic vibes.

Can Minnie be able to figure out who the killer is before her deadline?

With Scream and Sugar by Erin Johnson is where we learn more about this world that Ms. Johnson has created. Can Minnie be able to figure out who the killer is before her deadline? Minnie Wells Minnie is back and at it again, helping to solve another mystery. This time because she stuck her nose where it shouldn't have been at the vampire council meeting. She seems to be getting the hang of her powers, and we are going more in-depth into this world that Ms. Johnson has created. Minnie is a great character that I love getting to know through her perspective and books. I like Minnie because she is different from Ms. Johnson's other two main characters but still has that sense that she belongs in the world that she is fighting to stay apart of. I also like that she is trying to get to know her two vampire friends more than she already does to understand them better. The last thing that I like about her is that she's trying to make life work in Bath even if some things are making it difficult. The Mystery The one who put the vampire council's attention on Fitz about his tearoom did not look good for their community. Well, mostly that they think he's involved. Minnie is now tasked with solving it and proving his innocence. She has a lot of questions that need answers to solve this mystery. Including why would anyone kill the tour guide that they barely know? And why was she nervous about a book that someone has anonymously given to the old lady? These questions and more get answered as the mystery unfolds. Minnie gets closer to not only Fitz, her vampire boss, but also a certain detective inspector. Five Stars With Scream and Sugar by Erin Johnson is such a fantastic read. I love how she has incorporated each new series she has done to fit into the world that she created for Spells and Caramels. For fans of that series, you might recognize someone's name. We are now exploring the Earth Kingdom, and it's nice to explore a different kingdom without being bogged down by spending too much in the Water Kingdom. I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to anyone who loves a good paranormal cozy mystery series! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of With Scream and Sugar by Erin Johnson. Book 2 is another magical delight

Minnie is back in action marketing, serving tea and sleuthing. Well, she didn’t intend to be sleuthing but offering up her services to help a friend in need has her in dire straits. There will be a nest of vampires to answer to if she doesn’t get this one right. We have a murder to solve… two actually. Firstly, we’ve got to figure out who killed sweet, efficient tour operator, Amanda. While working on that mystery, another body drops and things get even juicier… or maybe a bit crazier. The dynamic of the ladies’ club is a great element for this story. I love the backstabbing and snark that plays out across the group. Those attitudes offer up several suspects and cast the red herrings. They also contrast brilliantly against Minnie’s kindness and her genuine friendship with Fitz and Gus. When a major clue drops in the final quarter of the book, things fall into place. However, the set up for the final showdown remains engrossing, especially as Fitz and Gus have a part to play! Other than the main mystery, we have other series aspects coming into play. There is some allusion to vampire and witch hunters, we have Minnie’s growing powers and we also have possible interference from her ex-husband. I’m looking forward to reading how they all play out. Oh and the romance… hmm… Fitz or the handsome detective….? As a cute addition, I loved the reference to Francis, the vampire from Spells and Caramels. You mean he isn’t the last vampire in the kingdoms?! I love when authors throw in these unassuming little nuggets for their regular readers to enjoy. Overall, With Scream and Sugar is a great second instalment in the Vampire Tea Room Mysteries. I’m all sucked into this whimsical series and can’t wait to gobble up some more.

Witches, Vamps, and Murder, Oh My!

Minnie's marketing work for the Bath Butler Café has been a huge success. The café is growing in popularity and most days, every table is occupied. The book begins with a large group of women coming in to celebrate "Galentine's Day" on Valentine's weekend. During the event, a couple scuffles take place, and the event coordinator is found dead outside the tea house. This puts everyone on police radar, and Fitz on the vampire council radar. In order to save the reputation of Bath Butler Café, and possible the undead life of Fitz, Minnie must figure out who had it out for the coordinator Minnie is a fun character. She's kind and caring and completely devoted to the Bath Butler Café. Her marketing techniques have put the tearoom on the map. She is selfless and stands up to the vampire council in an effort to protect Fitz. How can you not love her for that?! I love Minnie's interactions with Fitz. The ending wasn't what I was hoping for, but the series is young and there is still time to flesh out the romantic angles. I've been a huge fan of Erin Johnson since Seashells, Spells & Caramels (Spells & Caramels, Book1) was released in 2017. I was excited to learn about the upcoming Vampire Tea Room Magical Mysteries series. Spelling the Tea is a fantastic book. I enjoyed the setting, the characters, and the mystery. Minnie is a fun character, determined to earn her place at Bath Butler Cafe. The secondary characters round out a wonderful cast. The author's writing style, the pacing, and story kept me engaged. I loved the book and can't wait to see what happens with Minnie next! I was provided a copy of this book to read.

Vampires and Austen - I love it!

I love all of Erin Johnson's books and they just keep getting better. In this series, she's hitting some of my all-time favorite boxes. I love Jane Austen just like the author and Minnie the main character in the Vampire Tea Room Magical Mysteries. I also have had a life-long love of vampires (even the scary ones), so when you combine the two, you have a major hit for me. In this one, Minnie's marketing skills have put Vampire Fitz's tearoom on the map and during a hectic Ladies of Austen club visit, Minnie discovers the club's tour director, dead, in the alley by the kitchen door. Fitz is called to account in front of the Vampire Council and Minnie jumps in to save him, putting her neck at risk literally. Now, she has to find the murderer to keep Fitz out of nest arrest. Taking the tour directors place puts Minnie smack dab in the center of ruthless women and gossip. Will she find the murderer or be a victim of the ladies club or worse yet vampires? And if that's not enough, Fitz and DI Prescott both seem to be interested when she's not sure she's ready for romance anyway. Read the book to find out what happens, it's great! I can't wait for the next one. I would definitely recommend reading these books in order.

Perfect follow up book!

In book two of this series, Minnie is now working for Fitz in the tea room. Business has been booming since she made some adjustments to the shop. During a visit from the Regency Ladies Club, a spat break out when one of the ladies gives the cranky old member a beautiful first edition Jane Austin book. The leader if the tour tries to let the old crank that she is worried about the book and wants to borrow it for a moment. For this, she gets slapped. The tour leader goes outside and the party goes on. After a while, Minnie begins to worry when she can’t find the tour leader and goes out to look for her. She finds her in the alley, dead. This causes big problems, both with the tour, which Minnie is talked into taking over, and with Fitz’s vampire council. Minnie promises to prove Fitz had nothing to do with the death so that they can’t take him away. As the tour goes on, Minnie gathers clues until she finally puts the pieces together. All the while, she is still dealing with her ex, growing feelings for the detective as well as feeling for Fitz. These characters are so well written that you almost don’t care when the cranky old lady dies, and you aren’t quite sure who to root for, the handsome detective or the gorgeous vampire. I look forward to book three to see where this is leading!

What do you mean, there's a Vampire Council??

Minnie Wells has found working at the Butler’s Café, the Vampire Tearoom, a wonderful experience, until someone is murdered in the alley near the café. Now she finds herself invited to a Vampire Council in defense of her boss, hunky vampire Fitz. Who knew there even was a Vampire Council? As a novice witch, she has much to learn, like thinking before she speaks, promising she will find the killer and save Fitz from having to leave his independent life and return to the “nest.” She’d better find the killer, or she may become a tasty hor d'oeuvres for the hungry looking council. When asked to take the place of the now vacant event planner position for the weekend, she agrees. Maybe someone on the tour is the killer and Minnie only has a few hours to fulfill her promise to the Council. This such a fun book filled with murder, mystery, witches, vampires and a young, almost-divorced witch willing to do almost anything to save her boss from a fate he wants no part of. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

Minnie Has To Hurry To Find A Murder

Minnie is running around with due to another tour that is at the tearoom. The tour guide Amanda steps out after having a bad moment with a member of the tour. Minnie doesn't see Amanda for awhile and goes looking for her. Minnie finds the someone has killed Amanda, now they have another murder attached to their tea room. Minnie is asked to help Fitz with the Vampire council, they are trying to lay the blame at his feet. Due to Minnie speaking up, she now has no choice but to find the murderer or things will turn out badly for the both of them. This book has you hooked from the beginning. The author has you on rollercoaster ride as Minnie tries to find the murderer. Minnie and Fitz will work together to bring the real murder to justice. Minnie also has some feeling for two men. Minnie also hears from her husband and learns more about the magic and the surround world. This was such a great read. You will get lost in the book and will be over before you are ready.

well-written, delightful, and full of life

Number two in the series delivers another lively adventure. The characters are well-written, delightful, and full of life. I always enjoy an Erin Johnson book set in the paranormal. Minnie is working at the café. She has improved their business through her marketing tweaks. A tour guide is killed just outside of the café while her group is inside enjoying the tea service. The vampire council wants to cart Fitz away but Minnie sets out to prove he had nothing to do with the murder. She has three days to accomplish the task or the vampire council will take action. I couldn’t get enough of the story. Ms. Johnson keep the stories coming. I like the twist in the plot as Minnie is attracted to Fitz, her handsome vampire boss and one of the detectives. She’s not quite ready to date as she is working through a divorce from the guy that dumped her. I received an advanced copy of the book and am not required to leave a positive review.

Tea and Murder Oh My :0)

“With Scream and Sugar” is the second book in Erin Johnson’s new series, The Vampire Tea Room Magical Mysteries and I really loved this book. In this second installment a Jane Austen tour group is taking tea at the Butler Cafe for a “Galentine’s” Day celebration. The women’s group is thrown in chaos when the event coordinator, Amanda, is stabbed in the back with a pink stiletto and it is obvious one of the women must have committed the gruesome crime. To make matters worse the Vampire Council has given Millie only three days to solve the mystery and for the police to make an arrest or Millie’s new vampire boss, Fritz , may suffer the consequences for his tearoom getting human attention again for a murder happening there. Will Millie be able to solve the mystery and find the murder without becoming the next next victim? I can not wait for Millie’s next adventure.

fun new series

Who said vampires and witches can't get along? Millie's rooming with her vampire best friend and working for another vampire in a tea room in Bath. She's turned around the business with her marketing ideas and now the shop is bursting at the seams with customers. Too bad they've got a problem with bodies appearing at the worst times. Even the vampire council is upset, mostly because they don't want her boss to have his own business outside of Vampire Central. Can Minnie, friends and familiar solve this murder and save the business yet again? Of course, but you probably won't guess whodunnit or how they prove it and put the Council in its place while doing it. Now that the bad vampires are out of the way, Minnie may need to go on the road and start finding bodies somewhere else before the food safety people start showing up at the tea room.

Love the Regency Tea Room and Mystery

This is the second book in the Tea Room series. Things seem to be going well for Minnie. She is working at the regency themed Butler Bath Café as their marketing manager. She's helped the business to boom by focusing on marketing the café with Jane Austen fans and Regency Group Tours. A murder occurs and Minnie is determined to find out what happened. Minnie is a fledgling witch, working for Fitz, an ages old vampire. There are several twists, one including the Vampire Council who wants to pull Fitz back into the "nest". Minnie wants to help Fitz clear his name and does some sleuthing. You'll love this cozy paranormal novel and the cast of characters. Looking forward to the next book to see if local rumors of witch hunters and vampire hunters occurs. If you have read and loved Erin Johnson's other series, you'll love this one too!

Such a satisfying read

I'm loving this series! Minnie is such a charmer: sassy, smart, and humble, and it is enjoyable to read about a neophyte witch who is actively trying to get a handle on her abilities. Fitz is sublime and full of old-fashioned gentility; I'd have him if Minnie doesn't! Gus is a perfect, supportive, and protective bestie and not too snarky. I'm withholding judgment on Prescott; it will be good to get more background on him and the butlers. The murder mystery is well-constructed and engages the reader to follow along with carefully placed clues. I also respect the choice not to have the inspectors appear incompetent; it makes for a more enjoyable read. I'm eager for the next "Magical Tea Room" mysteries; I want to know more about Mim and the council and how Gus has avoided them and...!

With Scream and Sugar will keep you on the edge of your seat

Book two in the Vampire Tea Room series, "With Scream and Sugar". Erin Johnson continues to do what she does best, provide the reader with great character development and a solid, entertaining story line. Her playful and humorous style, laced with plenty of puns allows the reader to be entertained without taking away from the intrigue of the story. She even manages to "name drop" a character from one of her other series (and if you haven't read any of her other series, what are you waiting for??) in a way that is important to the story as well as to the back ground of the character himself. While the book can be read as a standalone, I would recommend starting at the beginning to fully understand the characters and their backgrounds.

A good mystery, fun read!

If you are a Jane Austen fan, or just a Regency Era fan, you will relate and love this series. There are some modern day and paranormal twists tossed in for fun. The main character is a budding witch, at the tail end of a messy divorce and unsure if she is ready for another relationship. Let's just say she may have options if and when she's ready. So there is some fun tension in here too. The tea room is busy thanks to Minnie's marketing, who would of thought there would have been another murder. So Minnie jumps in to investigate to keep her boss from getting blamed. This is a fun and fascinating paranormal cozy mystery series, really looking forward to the next book!

Delightful and charming

Erin's witty writing never fails to make me smirk and giggle within every chapter. Her characters ask to be known and revisited again and again...and while "the movie is never as good as the book" I'm wishing I could watch all these characters and writing up my dream cast to play the roles. Be warned, after you finish this book but you will likly want to go dig up a copy of Jane Austin something to read your favorite of hers or pop in your favorite Jane film and shucks while your at it whip up some Chocolate Chip Scones. Enjoy!

Minnie and Tilda are back!

Fitz is in hot water with the vampire council when another body is found at the tea room. Minnie speaks up for her boss in front of Darius and the council and is given three days to find out who murdered the tour guide with a stiletto. She is risking her neck with this one as well as Fitz's freedom. Can she find the culprit in time? And what about the second body? And what's with the book? Such a fun series with a wonderful, quirky cast. And a little romance thrown in! I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Spilling the Green Tea

Erin Johnson is back with the second book of the Vampire Tea Room series, and she does not disappoint! This time, Minnie has to solve two murders to get Fitz out of trouble with the Vampire Council. I suspect that Ms Johnson drew inspiration from Umberto Eco’s “The Name of the Rose” for this one. It is another must read! And Minnie, once you go vamp, you won’t go back. Just ask a certain psychic in Bijou Mer. BTW, Erin, nice save on how Minnie knew the mild expletive of “snakes,” this time around. 😉

Another fabulous entry in this must-read series

I enjoyed With Scream and Sugar every bit as much as I did the first book in the Magical Tea Room Mysteries series. Many details of this little world are coming into better focus, and Fitz is finally showing some initiative in his relationship with Minnie...but will his rival for Minnie's affections take a bolder approach and win her heart when it is free to be given once more...? I'm Team Fitz 100%!! Cannot wait to see what comes next!

Second book in a wonderful series.

The second book in a super fun new series! Erin Johnson weaves magic into every page. Minnie is learning to use her powers while navigating the complex world where magic meets mundane. In this second installment she makes a deal with powerful vampires and if she doesn’t deliver, it’s all over for her and her friends. Join us in the magical world of Bath, England for murder, mayhem and a spot of tea.

Another Enchanting Mystery Romance among the Supernaturals of Bath

Well what do you getvwhen you mix tomamce with vampires and witches? Love perhaps or co-detectives trying h to keep an innocent Vampire outta of vampire jail. When murders keep happening in his Buttler Tea Room in Bath. Our Jane Austen fan and American witch seems to have quite a talent in scrying murders and their murderers. All that and romance too!

Another great Cozy Mystery

With Scream and Sugar continues the story of Minnie and her friends in this heartwarming cozy mystery. Minnie has 3 days to solve a new murder to protect her boss and friend, Fritz and to keep herself from becoming a vampire pincushion. As always, I love the characters, their relationships, and the humor that Erin steeps her stories in.

Fun story with a few twists

Another murder at the tea room, but this time stakes are raised. Fritz may lose everything he loves if the vampire council has its way. Minnie must solve this fast or face dire consequences. We learn more about Fitz and the vampire council. Plus a well written mystery. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Fantastic read!!

The second in the Vampire Tea Room series, it was amazing. Minnie is working on marketing for Fitz's tea cafe when a group of Regency Ladies come in for tea. Add a murder and a vampire council's threat of 'solve the murder or be drained' and you have an outstanding read. Love this series!!!

Spiked to death

For a modern gal, Minnie is a steeped in Regency as her vampire, Fitz. You can't help but feel bad for Fitz when his tea shop just started picking up with Minnie's marketing, another murder threatens to ruin his life. Wonder about the hunters and if that's the next issue to tackle.

Another great story

I really enjoyed reading this series. I'm waiting to read the next book. The mysteries that Ms. Johnson weaves are thrilling and a much needed distraction in these times we are living in. I will recommend this to lovers of cozy mysteries and old fashioned regency-era romance.

Really fun book

I’ve just discovered this series and I’m really enjoying it. It’s got the paranormal element but it’s not like I’m reading a fantastical book. Great characters, and they’re so well-developed I can picture them all, as well as Bath, in my head. And who doesn’t love Jame Austen?

Nothing like advantage

Timing as it were the police might not have arrived in time to keep Minnie from being shot when she confronted the killer. But no one would be looking for 2 bats to come to the rescue. By changing back to men out of sight no one was the wiser anything strange happened.

Very cute Series

I just love this series. It's set in Bath, and the book gives great description of this wonderful area. Minnie is back so solve another mystery, and get her Vampire friend, Fitz off the hook for it. Or, is perhaps Fitz really more than a friend?

Great series

CAn Minnie solve a murder just outside Fitz’s Tea Shop before Fitz and herself get in trouble with the Vampire council? A new cozy mystery from Erin that you can’t put down. Funny, sweet, but also danger will mix in this new adventure.

Good series

I really like this series. The characters are well developed and believable. The plot and subplots move quickly and the conversations flow naturally. I can’t wait for the next book.

Super awesome. The awesomest!

Sooo good! Another body turns up… and Minnie has to solve the mystery to protect Fitz… from the vampire council! This is a true pageturner. Very well written. Very entertaining!

Excellent

Book 2 was so enjoyable! I really like the characters they seem so relaxed even when things go pear shaped. The mystery was well written with lots of plots to unravel.

Great Read

I read the first in this series and immediately downloaded the second (this) book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and already pre ordered it. Fun storyline with a hint of romance.

Great book!

Book #2 of this series, and I am thoroughly hooked! Fun, engaging story that moves quickly and is a light, easy read. I will definitely be reading more!

A Valentine's Adventure

Minnie ends up in the middle of--and investigating, of course--a pair of murders while trying to sort out her love life and save Fitz as well.

I love this tea room adventure

Great characters and exciting adventures. Love the premise and definitely want more. I love this author and plan to read more of her works

Full of fun!

Loved this 2nd book! The author always delivers fun and interesting characters and stories and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Good book

This is a fun series so far. The characters are very interesting and you never know what new mess Fitz will get mixed up in.

Fun, witty, and delightful

These books are so fun and I love the Jane Austin vibes mixed with the vampire and witch and modern day magical world

Delightful

This story was a delight to read. Clean and surprising twists. I will be reading more of the author's stories!

Excellent !!

I really enjoy these books that Erin writes. They are lots of fun. Witches and vampires, Oh My !!
