Awesome

This book is amazing. It will change your life. I also love the stories. I had to share the ranch dog story with my husband. Helped me see one of my children’s struggles in a whole new light. I will say though, the reason I bought the book was “kiss the wave”. I read that in a devotional this author has written in my bible app, I promptly burst into tears and went on to Amazon to purchase the book

Solid Counsel

Mark Batterson challenges his readers to wring incredible value out of each day. He uses little known historical illustrations from the lives of ordinary people whose life-changing activities resulted from making the most of the moment. Best Books EVER!

His books are the best... life changing.

a growth group book

The interest in the topic seems relevant to a new job I have. Upon reading the book there are so many layers of different directions. All roads lead to Rome. Even if this book was not a growth group book, I would’ve chosen it to read for a refreshing life lesson.

Good.

Classic Mark Batterson. If you haven’t read Deep Work, Atomic Habits, Make Your Bed, Eat That Frog, or Obstacle is the Way, then I recommend that you do. Those amazing books will expand on what Mark does here, which will stir you up for action.

Batterson is always good

Always encouraging, and always a unique take on some things and always with a focus on Gods plan. Good reminders on how to have Ho-e and excellence in your life on a daddy to day basis.

Good Book

This is a simple to understand book.

a sort of "self help" type book

It is a self-help book in disguise by a christian author. Not that good and not necessarily a christian bible study type book - certainly not one to "re-read." A bit disjointed and not easy to read - what is the main points? Cute "sayings" and headings but just shallow follow on discussion (once you remove all the real life examples used, some of which do not seem to be related to topic.)

Good condition.

The amount of highlights are more that I expected but make it easier for me to remember important points from the book.

Seven Habits That Reduce Stress and Increase Productivity

“Almost anybody can accomplish anything if they work at it long enough, hard enough, and smart enough,” writes Mark Batterson. In Win the Day, he identifies seven “daily habits” that will help readers “stress less and accomplish more.” Written with Batterson’s trademark combination of biblical insight, historical and scientific anecdotes, and practical application, this book will get your 2021 off to a good start. Today is the best time to start planning and working for a new year better than the old one.

Good But Misses The Bigger Point

I enjoyed the wisdom here and all the tidbits and quotes and stories. But I think the book is missing the larger point. Jesus doesn't need my career to be successful to live a meaningful life. In fact, quite often a successful career by worldly standards can show that we missed the mark as Christians. Instead of a book calling Christians do more and wake up earlier and "dream bigger," how about we just sit with God more? Instead of creating all these routines for success, how about we allow ourselves to have enough margin to be interrupted to love others? Instead of promising readers that all their hard work will be rewarded here on Earth, what if we live in such a way that we're okay no matter what happens?

Encouraging Christian book

Win the Day is a book that is both uplifting and encouraging. Mark Batterson always leaves me feeling like with God I REALLY can do more than I ever imagined. He shares personal stories and stories from Scripture that remind me that God does care and that God can do big things when we put our faith and trust in Him. At the same time, we have to put one foot forward every day to start the process for change. One of the questions that he encourage the reader to ask themselves is Can you do it for a day? With this question and making changes a day at a time, people can often reach goals that they thought were impossible. This is are the basic habits that the book is divided in to: 1. Flip the Script: If you want to change your life, start by changing your story. 2. Kiss the Wave: The obstacle is not the enemy; the obstacle is the way. 3. Eat the Frog: If you want God to do the super, you’ve got to do the natural. 4. Fly the Kite: How you do anything is how you’ll do everything. 5. Cut the Rope: Playing it safe is risky. 6. Wind the Clock: Time is measured in minutes; life is measured in moments. 7. Seed the Clouds: Sow today what you want to see tomorrow. I finished this book and felt that if I applied Batterson's wisdom to my life, that I could make some positive changes that I have been feeling like I couldn't do. It also helps that Batterson shares stories of how God has answered some big prayers for him. Along with putting baby steps in to practice towards goals, I am reminded to continue to pray and trust God. I would encourage anyone to read Win the Day who wants to make positive changes in their life. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.

A Chirstian Slant on Mindset and Productivity

Win the Day is the latest book by pastor and author Mark Batterson, and I predict this book will be as popular and helpful to people as his other books, such as The Circle Maker and Chase the Lion. In this book, Batterson read a large number of secular and Christian books on leadership and productivity to deliver this book on how to redeem each day to its maximum extent...but without making yourself frantic and stressed out. This is a big goal, but Batterson accomplishes his purpose in this helpful and thought-provoking book. Batterson makes a compelling case to discipline our minds to stay in the present and not waste time ruminating on the past. The author contends that only by focusing on each day's goals and tasks in a one-day-at-a-time manner can a person maximize their efforts with the least amount of stress. The book is divided into three parts. First, to win the day, we must bury our dead yesterdays. In Part 2, Batterson gives the main habits and tips necessary to win the day. Finally, in Part 3, he discusses how important it is to have God-sized dreams for the future to help get through the daily grind. Like an athlete who pushes her body to the limit daily with purpose, but all done so that they can win the gold medal at the Olympics. I am a facts/history/little-known things nerd, so I really enjoy reading Batterson's books because, in this one, he uses all kinds of unique and unknown facts of science and history to make his points more memorable. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is tired of driving in neutral and ready to make the most of each day and year the Lord gives them.

Great combination of personal development and Christian growth teaching

I've read plenty of personal development books and a ton of Christian growth books. Batterson's book may be the best I've ever read that combines both subjects. His message is clear, to be the very best we can be for the glory of God, giving God an A plus in effort. The key is living today, winning this day. Batterson reveals his strategy for excellence in seven habits. The first two habits deal with our past, what we should forget and what we should remember. The next two habits deal with daily decisions, unleashing the power of a 24 hour day. The next two habits help us imagine tomorrow, taking risks and recognizing each moment is a gift from God. The last habit reminds us to seize the day because right now, this moment is all we've got. Like most books in each genre, Batterson gives a number of inspiring stories and studies to illustrate his principles. Some are familiar but others introduce new insights. Unlike many books, Batterson actually includes practical suggestions to help us develop and live into his seven habits. He shares many of his own best practices and gives valuable tips throughout his writing. I rarely read a book more than once because there are so many new ones begging my attention. Batterson's is a book I plan to read once a year to encourage me and help me develop my own best practices to win my days. I highly recommend this book if you are ready to make an “uncompromising commitment to continuous improvement.” (2046/3740) I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

A Fantastic Resource for Maximizing 24 Hours!

When I begin reading a new book by Mark Batterson, I always have the same thought - “How can this be any better than *insert previous book?” Whisper and Chase the Lion are two of my favorites, among others, but Win the Day is an absolute blast to read and easily is now one of my favorites. Batterson’s writing style once again makes it easy for the reader to receive and understand the encouragement that’s being shared. Win the Day takes seven different habits that you can utilize daily and really emphasized the importance of living in the day. Yesterday is gone and done with. Tomorrow is unknown. But we can make the most of a single day and take things one day at a time. As usual, Batterson gives great insight and inspiration in his writing, with many memorable quotes that helped me in a time of life where I’m looking to make some big decisions. One quote that struck me is, “If you aren’t willing to put yourself in ‘this is crazy’ situations, you will never experience ‘this is awesome moments’”. Whether you’re assessing where you’re at in life, or if you’re just trying to thrive instead of survive in times of stress, Win the Day is a fantastic resource, for anyone, whether you have faith or not. As Batterson writes, “Don’t devalue the power of twenty-four hours”! Win the Day!

Win The Day!!

I am not finished with this awesome book yet, but I had to leave a quick review because I have highlighted almost every single sentence so far! My favorite quote or saying is "can you do it for a day?" Why yes I think I can. And then just say it again the next day. For me, I'm trying to Win The Day with a better and healthier lifestyle because I want to be around for my grand kids. What is your goal? Your dream? This book will encourage you with Bibilical principles to Win The Day. *I was given a copy by the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

How do you eat an elephant?

So needed for 2021 - let's Win our Days!

I highly recommend this book to assist you in changing your thoughts and actions that might not be the best for you. We often get into odd habits that keep us bogged down and held back. After the year we've had in 2020, this book comes at a perfect time to pause, reflect and make changes for the upcoming year. The wisdom and encouragement in this book are great. The suggestions to change your life's story by making simple but necessary adjustments are very helpful. I loved the one-liners at the beginning of each chapter like: "If you want to change your life, start by changing your story" and "If you want God to do the super, you've got to do the natural." Mmmm, these little nuggets are still rolling around in my mind. Loved them! Disclaimer: I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments above are my own. #PRHpartner #WaterBrookMultnomah @WaterBrookPress #Partner

Kiss The Wave!

“I have learned to kiss the wave that strikes me against the rock of ages.” [C.H. Spurgeon] It was the first time I had stepped foot in the ocean since my childhood. Chest-deep in a moment, I absolutely had to catch just the right wave for this video...and then set it to just the right music later. Yes, I’m a dork that way but it had to be perfect. Could I die in the process? Not likely. Should I fear sharks? Honestly, I didn’t even think about it until after the fact. Did I catch the moment? Did I kiss the wave? YES & AMEN! Little did I know that imagery would be accompanied by Batterson’s literary perfection in yet another masterpiece - WIN THE DAY: 7 Daily Habits To Help You Stress Less & Accomplish More. Once again, Mark combines amazing historical tidbits, personal testimonies and comedic genius with his unwavering faith to guide the reader not just into success in life, but into “unleashing the power of twenty-four hours.” “You cannot win the day until you win the hour, and you cannot win the hour until you win the minute.” It’s the beauty and wonder of life lived in and for the seconds. “Time is measured in minutes, while life is measured in moments.” Life-changing read! Your turn! Go and WIN THE DAY!

A word in due season!

With many stuck at home and the world filled with uncertainty,God has used Mark to deliver a powerful message! It's not only inspiring but it's a road map! No the journey won't be easy! And the main opposition is you yourself! God uses Mark to shine a light in the darkness ! He shows how to get off the couch and out of the slump!,situations may not be what we want them to be.But you can still be the best you that you can be ! And you can go be a light in the darkness to someone else!! Get off the side lines and get back in the fight!! So Thankful for this word! I believe it will bless you as well!!

Building Habits to Win the Day!

Mark Batterson's book, Win the Day, uses creative insight, real world and biblical examples to guide the reader in identifying and developing 7 daily habits. Batterson's writing style reinforces his belief that "almost anyone can accomplish almost anything if they work at it long enough, hard enough, and smart enough." Changing habits, through breaking bad habits to building good habits takes commitment to achieve the results you are seeking. Batterson's reminds us that we all have the ability, should we choose to make the choice, and flip the script. Batterson's book is a great way to start the year, rethinking your future, and establishing new habits as you pursue your purpose and move towards accomplishing your dreams.

Day by Day

This book peppers its title theme with relevant example after example of real people who did the thing that was in front of them and reaped huge rewards. The lesson is to not be a quitter, be dogged day after day in pursuing your goal, and being consistent in the little things to gain mastery in the bigger things. One great piece of advice in the book is to take the pressure off of yourself. This is a great book to help you set a plan for your life journey. Win the Day!

One Day at a time...

Do goals sometimes seem overwhelming to you? In “Win the Day”, Batterson once again delivers an important message in a winsome manner, setting us up for positive change. If you are the type of person who views yourself as one who often doesn’t realize your goals then this is a book you must read. You will find yourself cheered on through 7 well explained steps to win the day. You’ll find it motivating to embrace these steps (and the accompanying illustrations) to make a positive difference in your life; one day at a time.

Not what I expected....

I like Mark Batterson. He’s one of my favorite authors and I look forward to reading a new book from him. I was disappointed in this one. Part Christian living, part motivational, it seems more like a sermon series that was transcribed into a book. Lots of motivational one liners, sometimes repeated frequently through the book. If you’ve been in business or have read much in the way of motivational or productivity books, there’s nothing really new here. That being said, reading motivational one liners and living out the truths in those one liners is two different things. Always worth the read. I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for a fair review.

Great Tools for Every Believer!

So much in this book to absorb! I have so many take aways. I like how Mark Batterson puts it all into 7 steps with some interesting names that are catchy. I’ve already put some of it into action and I’m looking forward to 2021 with new tools in my toolbox! I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

Another great book!

Mark Batterson never fails to meet me where I am and lead me forward. Win the Day is no exception. The 7 steps he outlines are a great way to make changes but not be overwhelmed. A New Year’s resolution is great but overwhelming. Sticking with something for a year is a lot. Even a week can be too much but he says can you commit for one day? One day is a step towards Winning the Day! I would highly recommend this book!

A God send!

If I'm being completely honest, I really needed this book! We all get stuck at times on a a seemingly never-ending merry-go-round of life. This is where I was when this book thankfully found its way to me. While there are really no new concerpts covered here, other than the catchy chapter headings, Batterson has creatively and masterfully packaged them together in a way that is simple and easy to follow. If you are looking for help escaping yesterday, while living in today and planning for tomorrow, then look no further!

Effective

I love Mark Batterson’s writing, and Win The Day is great! Mark gives tangible, easy examples of how to make life changes that will move you forward in success and closer to your goals and where you want to be in bite sizes that can be adopted and easily added!

Timely, helpful and compelling!

This book could not have come at a better time for me. The concept of preparing for the day/being proactive in life is the big theme of this book, day-tight compartments as Batterson refers to. Pastor Mark is a solid writer and this book is no exception! With all-new material and stories, this book has been both encouraging and helpful to make the most of the time we have been given. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

A life changing book

I was excited to get Mark Batterson`s next book; it was worth the wait. He has a way to be down home human while encouraging a person to fly like superman! I have read the book from cover to cover and loved it. Now I need to go back review and try to live it. If you want to make positive steps forward in your life, you will love this book.

Encouraging and practical

I've read Batterson's books in the past and have always found them informative, practical, and encouraging. This one was no exception. The book is divided into the following categories, seven habits to help the reader "stress less and accomplish more." Two are focused on the past, two on the present, and three on the future. 1. Batterson uses a number of personal stories, including references to historical or pop culture, to help make his points and connect with the reader. Some of the references are repetitive, but they'll likely hit home readers. The key focus is on unleashing the power of 24 hours and making the most of your current day. If you're looking for some encouragement and practical tips in the middle of this crazy year, this is a great book to add to your list of books to check out. Encouraging

It’s time to flip the script. Mark gives us another winning book. Win the Day is a reminder that God wants to encourage us and allow Him to start using us in our weakness so His power is made perfect. I received a copy of the book from the publisher/author in exchange for an honest opinion. All opinions are my own.

Most Practical Performance Enhancer Since Covey's Seven Habits

Batterson has once again used obscure but precisely applicable story images and clever, memorable turns of phrases to set forth a strategy for personal performance improvement and goal achievement that rivals Covey's Seven Habits in terms of immediate and practical applicability. Because he is so creative with his imagery and phraseology, the concepts stick in your head. Batterson approaches this work as a follower of Jesus, and the book encourages the reader with the role that a God personally interested in our lives can play in our progress. But, even if the reader has no relationship with or believe in God, this book is of tremendous practical utility.

Win the Day Helps Set Up Yourself For Success

Mark always has found a great way to take God's word and make it practical for today. This book is no exception. He takes these keys to help you set your day up to win. I found these steps applicable to what I am currently going through. Whether you are a leader or a layman, you will take away a lot from this!

Great book to win the day

Mark uses a slew of great stories to illustrate practical points one can learn to win the day. There are some cheesy one-liners, but there are many worth remembering. A worthy read that will help you take bold risks in the service of others and God.

Push and Practicality

Mark Batterson is one of my favorite authors by far. The truth is, he can both weave a great story and kick the reader in the backside concurrently. “Win the Day” is yet another great example of wisdom and wit, push and practicality in equal parts. Great book - perfect for the reader wanting their tomorrow to contain more victory than their today.

Many motivational quotes- focus on your faith in God

This book intrigued me-- the thought of being able to use your 24 hour day in a more powerful way. I've read a lot in this area, but this book I found to be highly practical, focused on remembering how Big Our God is, and then staying present in the moment. I enjoy this style of Mark Batterson book, he has simple strategies and then shares quotes, stories, plans, and ways to implement the strategies in first his life, and in your own. There are lots of quotes and good one-liners to hook onto which I think may help those with the flight/freeze response and anxiety- but I was surprised that there weren't more verses listed and shared. "Christianese" style book that sounds good, but I didn't feel that it was Bible-centered, more self-help, and catchy phrase centered. The message that your God is big enough has been in other books by this author- without His character and a connection to the Word of God directly. I liked it, but I prefer to make life choices based on the promises of the Word and focusing on the character of God and His attributes. What I am wondering is- can I use his concepts with my 19-year-old son who has anxiety-- and I'm really thinking yes- I know he needs to live in the present- not anticipating the future, and definitely not dwelling on the past. I need to continue reading the book with this perspective in mind, and then I need to get my son to read it as well. If it helps him- it will earn the illustrious, rare 5-star category for my review. Netgalley provided an advanced copy of the book for my review.

I have seen Mark Batterson grow as an author, and this book is one of his best yet. This is not a self-help type of book - this is a book based on Biblical principles to help guide you into an intentional lifestyle of honoring God and finding purpose.

Win The Day

Win The Day is a Christian living book by author Mark Batterson. This is a well-written book for any reader that wants to ‘Win The Day’. The book has lots of information on forming habits to help you ‘Win The Day’. With examples as far back as biblical times and up to the 1800s and also including tidbits from the author’s own life. I found several quotes worth quoting but the main one that sticks out is, “If yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery, win the day!” The thesis for this book is about unleashing the power of twenty-four hours. I would recommend this book to friends and family, and fans of Christian living books. This is a book you’ll want to take your time reading and then re-reading. Seed the Clouds:

Perfect For A New Year Reset

A fantastic book to start the new year! Mark Batterson has a way of sharing practical advice in an engaging way that will make you want to attack each new day in 2021. This is a refreshing read after what was a tumultuous year for many. I am encouraged to not quit and to pursue the passions God has given me.

Motivational

Author Mark Batterson writes a good book on setting goals, how to meet those goals, and changing daily habits.Very motivational from the Christian perspective, Win the Day will help the reader who wants to make changes. Fresh Ideas!

I really enjoyed reading Win The Day. I thought Batterson offered fresh ideas about living life deliberately. The book is filled with a variety of memorable examples both historical and contemporary. Batterson clearly communicates his ideas and has 7 phrases to help you remember the habits he describes. I didn’t rush through the material and found it easy to pick up every time that I returned to it. I plan to implement a few of his suggestions and I recommend this book to anyone interested in making each day count! I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Globalist Propaganda

If you buy it, listen for globalist phrases like “systemic racism”, “new normal” and others that are being pushed since 2020, along with the number of famous anti-God people he quotes and speaks highly of...so very sad. After reading this book, I feel called to shut off all the outside voices (authors, pastors, teachers), and focus solely on the Bible for a season. Satan is very real, and has infiltrated our churches. I hope you join me in praying for our country and free people all across the world.

Good book to start the New Year

This book by Mark Batterson gives 7 tips on how to make each day count. If each day counts, then you end up with more results in the end. It makes sense, and Mark always makes his books interesting, because he uses unusual ideas to keep your interest, and make the book fun -- such as "Eat the frog". If you have read previous books by this author on a similar topic, then there is some repetition, but some different stuff too.

Loved it!

I absolutely loved this book. It has practical, life changing principles. I also thoroughly enjoyed the stories included in each section. Wonderful book. I am now a Mark Batterson fan!

Great reminder of wise and practical advice we all need!

Great reminder of wise and practical advice we all need!

This ones a winner.

Started reading and can’t stop. There’s good stuff on every page. It should be required reading as we begin the new year.

Focuses on living in the moment

Lots of great advice and stories focused on creating a mindful present-time-focused lifestyle. Much of the content is steeped in Scripture and Christianity. For me, this was a three and a half star read, rounded up To four. I borrowed this ebook from the library.

Enlightening

I am tempted to be critical of every chapter as I start to read it but find myself in enlightened agreement by the time I’ve completed the chapter. I learned very useful approaches to winning.

Great Book to start off 2021!

Mark Batterson does it again in this fantastic new book! This writing will challenge you, encourage you and push you to do amazing things that you never thought you could do.

Way too much pointless chatter

He has some good points but you have to read through so much random, pointless fluff that you miss the point. If the book was trimmed down by 70% it would be a much better read.
