It's not just a book, it's a journey.

I LOVE this book. Wild Remedies arrived this week. Our family has been hit with the Coronavirus & we have been quarantined for several weeks already. I pre-ordered this book back in February. The community on Facebook that comes with this book is awesome. There are several docuseries that should not be missed. This book encourages you to participate in a wonderful journey, not just read the words. Now that I have my book in hand, I'm a very happy woman. I would recommend this book to everyone who is interested in herbs and getting back to a natural way of living with this wonderful world God has made.

Nourish Ourselves and Heal the Earth

I was in love by the first section. This book really has it all, and it very unique too! I enjoyed the multitude of journal prompts, and the foundational topics in Part 1 like wildcrafting principles and botany basics. I appreciate that the underlying premise for this book is to give back to the plants, to practice gratitude, and to establish a relationship with them, not just about harvesting them.( I will also say that you can grow many of these plants in your garden as well if wildcrafting isn't your thing.) This is as much a book on developing a connection to the plants and local ecosystems as it is in identifying and using plants for medicine and food. The book is organized by season, with botanical information, medicinal properties, identification and harvesting guidelines, ecological connections, recipes, and gorgeous botanical illustrations. I can't forget to mention the stunning photographs! This is truly such a treasure of an herbal book, and I have many! This will be one of my very favorites for sure. This is such an important time to reconnect with our suffering planet, as we are seeing so many issues from believing we can take from it in any way we want. Habitats and the creatures that inhabit them are crying out for our help. If we could each read this cover to cover, take to heart its principles, we could begin to heal our beautiful planet and our bodies.

Absolutely stunning book!

This is a beautiful book - visually I can't get enough of it. But the content is amazing too. They have included loads of recipes that inspire and delight. You will want to try them all! The plant information is so well done. Each section is a informational masterpiece. The plant descriptions are quite comprehensive which include the identification (in beautiful color), how and when to harvest as well as special consideration for each plant. These 2 authors have put together a stunning, informational resource for generations.

I've learned so much from Rosalee

I love Rosalee's first book The Alchemy of Herbs; it's the most dog-eared and stained book in my kitchen! I've taken her online classes as well. Her ability to organize and present information in a non overwhelming format really appeals to me. I received Rosalee and Emily's new book Wild Remedies in the mail yesterday, so I haven't had time to go beyond initial perusing, but what I've already glanced at, I love. The book feels amazing in my hands - it lays open easily and the paper quality is excellent. I love the journaling aspect present throughout the book. The journaling exercises are so important for people like me who might read about something and then put the book back on its shelf. Journaling gets me out of my head and into a much deeper connection with the subject at hand. I love the herbs the authors have chosen. I'm giddy that Wild Remedies has been released in Spring, though any season is the perfect season to study herbs, because I'm ready to get outdoors with this book and my journal and get to know these little herbal miracles!

Love this book

Beautifully illustrated and easy to read. I received my copy today and already started collecting a few local herbs to help my daughter in law with her allergies

Beautiful book beautiful visuals

I'm so impressed with how thorough Rosalee and Emily have been with this book. They start with the basics- philosophy of plant harvesting, safety and respect and move into very useful information. Throughout the book there are lots and lots of pictures and drawings to help with plant identification and plant part knowledge. They highlight many of the more common plants and dedicate individual chapters to each, complete with recipes using easy ingredients-- one of my favorites which I'm excited to try is Chickweed Pesto. Looks easy and yummy! I'm personally new to harvesting and unfortunately I get bored of books very easily--- this book, however has been very useful and has kept my attention. My family and I had lots of fun gathering wild violets from our yard to make the vinager recipe. It looks beautiful and is almost ready to use. This is easily one of my best reference books. I highly encourage you to add this to your plant library. Thank you ladies for this wonderful user-friendly book! -Pati

More for recipes then remedies

More to dislike than like for me personally. 1st reason being they wasted 20 pages on apples and raspberry which are simple fruits to identify. This book leans towards recipe book more at times. I didnt buy it for recipes. 2and reason is most of these herbs are the very basic. The dandelion plant has 2 separate parts in the book. It is split between leaf, flower and root in total other section. I got the feeling the writer was trying fill in pages. I'm not returning it because I do love the illustrations and pictures to identify plants. Most books dont show full plants. However I would have definitely preferred there be more plants in the book as a whole. It was not worth the $50 but I'm going to keep it because as an herbalist you can't get one book with everything you want.

This Is Going To Be One Of My Favorite Herb Books Ever!

First, I'll say that I've been studying herbs for food and medicine since 2006, and I have purchased a lot of herbal books. Some have not been useful, and some have contained sketchy information. I've come to trust Rosalee de la Forêt for her common sense approach to using herbs for health. Teaming up with Emily Han has been a brilliant move! They complement each other as herbalists, teachers, and writers. The book is beautiful, and has solid information. They give good advice about what, where, and when to harvest plants, including ecological details and how to harvest wild plants responsibly. The recipes are just wonderful, and are things that I will actually make and use. I'm going out to harvest some violets in my yard today, and will make the violet vinegar on page 145. This one will likely go in the kitchen with the cookbooks instead of on the shelf with my herb and garden books.

This is a recipe book not a herbal profile book.

Torn about this book. Haven’t decided whether I’m keeping it or no. Love the herbal descriptions, drawings, and pictures. However not a fan of the many many (75) recipes in this book. What percentage of herbalists would actually make a nettle frittata, nettle asparagus soup, or dandelion root stir fry? It’s just extra pages and the OCD person in me is bothered by the pages I will never use. Also the recipes are strewn throughout the book and not relegated to a section in the back. Again I have the utmost respect for the knowledge of these ladies but really wish this book was just strictly herbal profiles and more of the herbal profiles. I wish they would make separate book with just herbal profiles and with more than just 25 profiles. Also it’s not their fault cause had I read the description I would have seen that this is predominantly a recipe book.

Well thought out and put together, an all 'round excellent book and here's why...

I originally purchased this book as a gift for someone. As an herbalist of 40 years, I knew I didn't need another herb book for myself. It came. It's mine. Sorry Candice! It is a LOVELY book in so many ways and it doesn't matter how long you've been a herbalist, there is always something new you can learn or be refreshed about. First, the quality of the book. The spine, the paper cover and the pages are of excellent quality. None of that flimsy stuff! This is a book meant to keep for a lifetime or at least until you outgrow it and pass it on to another . The sections/chapters are broken down into a very consciously thought out format. 1. Creating Your Foundation 2. Spring 3. Early Summer, and so on with great chapters in each category on a nice array of herbals great for the beginner or intermediate herbalist. Particular plant info is broken down staring with amazing drawings and photographs to help you identify plants, then on to things like "How to Identify", "Ecological Connections", "Medicinal Properties and Energetics" and so on. Detail to proper use of grammar and language (English) are apparent, then ending each herbal profile with a couple of herbal recipes as medicine or food. This is just a taste of what is to come your way. BUY THIS BOOK. It will become a cherished addition to any herbal library. Rosalee and Emily, BRAVO and thank you!

A Mini Course!

The study of herbs and herbal medicine has come a long way and this book is powerful when it comes to honest information about using herbs in traditional and modern ways! Beyond just tinctures and teas, Rosalee and Emily bring herbs to the kitchen with some very creative and delicious recipes allowing us to go even further with our earthly allies! The information on foraging and identification is extremely valuable! And I love that they present herbs by season, as this was a struggle for me in the beginning, just knowing which herbs to harvest when. These girls know their herbs and have gifted us with their knowledge! ‘Wild Remedies’ is a great follow up to Rosalee’s ‘Alchemy of Herbs’ and Emily’s ‘Wild Drinks and Cocktails’. These books beautifully complement each other and provide endless opportunities for learning and using herbs everyday! Great job ladies!

Beautiful, in so many ways!

I pre-ordered "Wild Remedies" in February. The thing I least liked about the book was waiting for it to be released, because I already have Rosalee de la Foret's "Alchemy of Herbs" and Emily Han's "Wild Drinks and Cocktails" (I highly recommend both books). When "Wild Remedies" finally was released, it proved to be so much more beautiful than I had imagined---which is saying a lot! The greatest beauties of the book are not the most readily apparent. I love the care the authors take in showing how to wildcraft. Building community is encouraged, by caring for the plants, harvesting responsibly, and forging connections with others who value the way the natural world heals the body and soul. There is plenty of obvious beauty, too, in the lavish photographs and illustrations. The book was written to include plants that are available almost everywhere (click on "Look Inside" above for the complete list). It includes how to identify the herb, how it benefits people and other animals, how and when to harvest, recipes to use the plant, and much more. Be sure to go to wildremediesbook .com (eliminate the space before the .com) to register for bonuses such as: - videos of a 4-part docuseries on wild remedies (including transcripts and an invaluable wildcrafting checklist, as well as printable recipe labels) - a "wild spring feast" menu with more recipes - The Art and Practice of Wild Tending - herb monographs on plantain, yarrow and mullein - notes on sustainability - wild remedies for colds and flu. The link to even more bonuses is given in the book, on page xiv. These include additional chapters that were edited out because the book was too long, and (my favorite) a printable journal to help you more effectively use the book. I could not more highly recommend this beautiful book!

Wonderful!

I truly love this book! I've recently become interested in herbs, "weeds," and wildcrafting, and (since it's my way) I have therefore bought several books on the topic. Each has its virtues. But I love Wild Remedies; it is definitely my favorite to date. First off, it is absolutely beautiful! It is thoughtfully and creatively designed, formatted, and illustrated. Each "weed" addressed is given several pages, which include general information on the plant itself, then some more in depth botanical and identification information, followed by ideas for using the plant to improve one's health, and last some recipes for using the plant in food or beverages. The recipes are clear and concise, easy to follow. Additionally, the book has ideas for journaling, with thought provoking questions throughout, designed to get a person thinking more deeply and curiously about plants in general, as well as the planet at large. This is a book that stimulates change, in behaviors and attitudes, but in a way that is loving, curious, intriguing .... I hardly can think of a way this book could be better. One additional note: shortly before I bought Wild Remedies, I bought another, similar book. As with this one, I was lured by the beauty of the art. This other book is gorgeous! However, many the "wild plants" it addresses are well known and commonly used: Apple mint, black and red raspberry (two different chapters), blueberry, lemon balm, American black current and European black current as well as red current, peppermint and spearmint. Even among the lesser-known (for newbies like me), such as mallow, the author has separate pages for mallow, musk mallow, and hollyhock mallow. This book was significantly more expensive, and I'm not happy that a book that has "foraging" in the title features so many plants that are very common and widely commercialized. While I will still use and enjoy it, if I had been able to employ the "look inside the book" feature (which was not available for this book), I probably wouldn't have spent the money. Wild Remedies is much more extensive in terms of variety of plants addressed, and will ultimately get a lot more use.

Learn to use what is all around you!

This is the second book I've bought and used by Rosalee de la Foret. Teaming up with Emily Han, she gives us practical applications for common, as well as uncommon, herbs. Their approach is inclusive-gentle yet intensive help for beginners, and validation and inspiration for experienced herb enthusiasts. Rosalee's reminder about the value of violets has inspired me to use what grows right in my yard-I'm on my third batch of Violet Vinegar and making it into Violet Oxymel! Her work is also extremely well researched and gives the latest updates on herbal medicine. Illustrations are prolific and beautiful! And she links to online help through bonus chapters and FB pages. This is a wonderful book!!

Not just a book... a portal

I love this book! It's very well written with loads of helpful information. And it's not just a book... it's a portal. At the time of this review, the authors have set up a free online hub of info and a supportive community around this book. I've never before seen authors put so much work into creating a whole support system for their audience! There's a free companion journal to keep you actively participating. There are free videos and webinars. And a Facebook group where we can keep the discussion going. Also discounted membership to the HerbMentor website with is an online learning community and resource. I'm blown away by the support. Thank you Emily, Rosalee, and John!

I almost didn't buy. Glad I did.

I watch a ton of videos and take classes on herbal medicines so when I watched a webinar on Wild Weeds and this book was the star, I almost didn't buy it. I figured I could get whatever information was inside of this book for free on the internet somewhere, and I thought I would buy and not use. I was WRONG. I love everything about this book. The authors really took their time with it and they show a true appreciation for our earth. Now, admittedly when I first got it, I did the typical thing and went straight to herbs and recipes that interested me and skipped the beginning. But the authors did something. They started a book club so this could be a living document and have taken us on a journey chapter by chapter. It's allowed me to slow down and really appreciate truly what I was overlooking right in my background, literally. But more than that, the book gives you space to slow down and reflect ( and since we're in the house anyway) on our connection or re-connection to our earth, the plants it provides for us and how we interact and interface with all living things. I really appreciate that. This is my first time building a true relationship with plants and not just seeking what they can do for me. I'm so glad I bought this book. It has not seen my shelf yet!

Fantastic, Beautiful & Fun

Wild Remedies is a gorgeous book - one that makes you want to sit down and look at every page the second you pick it up. The photography is not only inspiring, the recipes are delicious and the herbal information is thoughtful and accessible to all different experience levels with herbs (i.e an herbalist and also a brand new "dabbler"). I'm a new-ish herbalist and while familiar with many of these plants already, love having the information and recipes for common backyard "weeds" in one easy to use book. I've gotten to know several plants much better by spending time with them through this book. Highly recommend!

A thoughtful, inspiring introduction to herbal medicine and wild plant foraging

I am over-the-moon excited about this book. Rosalee and Emily’s seasonally arranged, carefully thought out, and practical approach to common backyard wild medicinals will inspire budding and established herbalists alike. They urge you to ditch exotic trends and hype to deeply connect with the virtues of abundant backyard plants like violet, plantain, mullein, yarrow, and evergreen conifers. This is not an A-Z herbal but an invitation to intimately experience the plant world and fully understand the plants you use as medicine, from botany to empowerment, medicinal uses to tantalizing recipes, spectacular and botanically accurate illustrations, all connecting you to your sense of place in harmony with the plants. This book does more than supply a laundry list of uses for every plant imaginable. It approaches backyard herbalism to a depth rarely covered in herbals. I can’t wait to share this book with students as required reading in my herb courses.

Joyful inspiration

I have been foraging for so long I can't remember when I started. I was thrilled to see that two of my favorite herbal writers had teamed up to write a book on foraging. I preordered the book because I KNEW it would be great. And boy, was that the right decision. I have kept Wild Foraging right next to my computer and read little bits of it nearly every day since it arrived. I like reading in little chunks. It helps me ground the information to help me remember it. This book is perfect for that. Just today I was reading about burdock. We have quite a bit of burdock growing around my garden and my husband is all for digging it up. But I won't let him. Wait until fall and we will gather the roots for tea, I say. He's like but it will get EVERYWHERE and I am like no, we can just cut off the seeds. And so it goes, he wants to get rid of my treasured weeds and I walk around defending them. Luckily, I usually prevail when it comes to these things. But I digress. Back to the book, I love the variety of recipes, ease of use and the depth of the herbal information. I might never have thought to make an evergreen oxymel, even though I make oxymels all the time. The creative, solidly informative approach to this book has made it one of my favorites. I suspect it is going to be sitting by my computer for a long time.

Returned the book

It was too much in resemblance to her first book, which I bought and don't regret. Her and Emily's newest book has to many repeat information. I believe they wanted it to be good for first timers buying it, not taking into consideration repeat readers. So I was disappointed in this last book. Oh well, its good for a first timer.

Confidence in wildcrafting

Love this book. Beautiful pictures, well written, simple to understand. Emily and Rosalee are respected herbalists in the herbal community and their expertise shines in this book. They start with a foundation of respect, knowledge, and getting hands on with herbal preparations, recipes, basic botany, and a well rounded knowledge of common herbs. They go thoroughly over the herbs- how to identify, look alikes, how to harvest, when not to harvest, what to do with it, why you would use a particular herb or not. I feel so much more confidence in striking out into my local areas and harvesting small amounts of plants for my family. I’ve already identified mullein and elderberry bushes, apple and cherry trees I didn’t realize were there, and I’m harvesting and drying nettle for a nourishing tea habit. I’m an intermediate, family herbalist, but reading this book has opened my eyes to the plant world around me and given me confidence to do more than just order dried herbs for my preparations. Thank you Emily and Rosalee!!

Building right relating with Earth and food.

This is a wonderful book for beginners as well as start, stop and begin again folks like myself. I decided after taking a course with Rosalee, that she was someone to follow. The first two chapters, are dedicated to ethical foraging. After all, if the entire population is going to decide to forage, better to be in right relationship with the big picture. Then, good foraging conversation continues with parts of plants and trees and harvest timing in chapter 3. Throughout, there are journaling contemplations which build skills in observation as well as how to build right relationship to your own environment. Subsequent alphabetical chapters give considerable in depth info for using specific plants as food and medicine as well as plant look alikes. The book is a testament to creating kinship with life itself. We are a culture in need of a do over. One place for many is to go to nature and first, find our ease. Then, see what we notice and follow our curiosity. Good company is found with this book too! In fact, it could be a school text book that actually piques interest! Well designed, companionable and educational.

beautiful and instructional

What I noticed right from the beginning was the stunning beauty of this book. The authors are master herbalists and their teaching is clear and immediately accessible. And the lessons are accompanied by exquisite photography and delightful artist renderings of every aspect of each plant and the creatures who benefit from the plants as we do. The recipes are simple enough for any beginner, and one can have therefore have immediate pleasurable beneficial experiences with them. While the plants chosen for this book were ones that are available to nearly everyone, no matter where one lives, I could only wish that there were more. It is like a mini vacation to leaf through the pages.

Great Resource for beginner and experienced alike

I have long been interested in herbs. Mostly those I grow myself, buy, or trade with friends. Its just been this last year that I have gotten interested in foraging. Last summer I foraged for elderberries and had so much fun. Now armed with the new information presented in this wonderful book, I find myself looking for goodies while walking through the local nature park and trails! Thanks to the wonderful authors who took on the work of gathering the information and their combined experience to bring this knowledge to us!

If you are new to wild crafting/foraging this would be a great place to start.

This is a beautiful book! The pictures are so detailed, it looks like you could reach out and pick something from the page. The info on each herb has Botanical names, family, what parts of the plant you use, taste, uses, preparations, recipes, to name a few of the items covering each herb. It goes into detail which plants to harvest and if there is a look-a-like plants to avoid. I loved this book so much, I ordered books for each of our kids and a few friends that show interest in wild crafting. I can’t wait for the dandelions to come up so I can make the Dandelions Maple Syrup Cake, looks so good!

I've bought many "natural healing" books before, but...

I've bought many "natural healing" books before, but THIS ONE is different! First of all, the herbs listed are sectioned off into: Spring herbs, Summer herbs, Autumn, etc. Since it's Spring, I opened the book and there are herbs that I can find, some are in my yard! (We don't spray, etc., so I can harvest here.) Each herb has a full page close-up photo, describes how to safely harvest (don't take everything, leave some for the next person/year); where to look and what parts to harvest, remedies to make from the herb, and a few recipes. I made Violet Syrup yesterday, it can be used to help the symptoms of dry coughs, sore throats, fevers and swollen lymph glands. I put some sticky notes on the edge of the pages to use as tabs... Enjoy!

A Gentle Teaching Book

This book amazes me with so much information that I need. The authors are gentle teachers who love not only their topic, but their readers, by keeping them in mind. It's not a knowledge dump, but a teaching book with easily understood instructions. I'm a retired teacher, so I really appreciate the journal prompts, and the thoughts that they are able to elicit. I liked the Kindle edition so much that I bought the paperback too, which is easier to read outdoors as I check out the many varieties of plants in my wild pasture.

Reading this book is heading on a new life's journey

This book is written to inspire the reader to deepen their relationship with the wild, to learn to forage for food and medicine based on your own bio-region. Both Rosalee de la Foret and Emily Han are easy to follow teachers. Rosalee resides in the forests of Washington state whereas Emily lives in Los Angeles, illustrating how foraging can occur in any environment. This book is well worth your time and effort.

One of the best books for wild edible plants

This book has quickly become my favorite guide when looking for edible wild plants in the area where I live. Having spent my childhood in the country, I've been living in an urban environment all my life. The two authors reignited my enthusiasm for looking for edible wild growing plants. Publication of this book couldn't have come at a better time, a time when many of us are looking to find alternative food sources and medical treatments. And the support end encouragement of the new online community that formed as a result is amazing. Thank you Emily & Rosalee for writing such an amazing book. You have inspired many of us!

Beautifully written and illustrated

This book is a gem. The authors take you through a year of plants and teach respect, love, ethical harvesting, ways to build a relationship with the plant, and ways to bring the plant into your life. If you're new to herbalism, this is your book. If you're looking to improve your health and your connection to the earth, this is your book. If you are interested in wildcrafting and cooking, this is your book. If you've been confused about herbal energetics, this is your book. Even if you're a seasoned herbalist, this is your book. The writing is beautiful and accessible. The recipes are divine. And the botanical illustrations are superb. When I preordered this book, I didn't expect such high production values. It is a pleasure to read and use.

Beautiful! Informative! A Great Help!

Love this book! I am pretty new to the world of herbalism and found this book very engaging, informative, and beautifully illustrated. I never thought of foraging for herbs myself because of not knowing how to identify the plants around me. Now I am noticing everything around my area. I’ve identified two plants in my area so far and the benefits of each of those plants. It’s a start for me. It’s fun. It’s educational. It’s a wonderful way to connect to nature and be grateful for the wonderful benefits of the plants. Wild Remedies has inspired me to learn everything I can about herbs, and how to incorporate them into our daily lives, whether by just observing their beauty, or enjoying them in a tasty meal, or using them as a natural remedy. Thank you!

I love this book!

I have basic herb knowledge but very little knowledge around foraging. This book makes the information very accessible and really fun and easy. I particularly appreciate three things. One, the organization of plants is by season, so I can open to spring and look at what plants I should be looking for now. Two, the wholistic approach and thinking, understanding what insects and animals may also depend on the plant and encouraging thoughtful stewardship of the land and forest. Three, that all the plants are common plants in most places, many are familiar already to the causal observer, event weeds - who doesn't know the dandelion! Great book!

The best herbal book ever!!

From the moment I opened the book up, I knew I was going to love it. Not only do Emily and Rosalee teach plant identification, recipes, and about what each herbs properties are, they also teach us to be stewards of the land and planet. There are places in the book where you can stop and ponder and journal your thoughts. It’s just a beautifully written book! Whenever I read it or just look at the pictures of the plants and flowers and think about how our Creator gave us all of this beautiful plant life, it brings me peace!

A beautiful book written in collaboration from the hearts of 2 gifted women.

This book is everything we want from the tactile experience of owning an actual hard copy book. The paper is substantial and the artwork lovely and generous. I love how they have organized it seasonally and how included are encouragements to journal along with suggestions on what to journal about given the materials of the chapters. This book helps to guide us through developing a connection with nature and herbs using all of our senses and sensibilities so we can go about the craft in a mindful manner. Then of course, there is the ‘how to’ guidance followed by some ‘what to’ suggestions as well as a solid information about what to do with our harvest. Thank you Rosalee and Emily for a masterpiece and my introduction to wild crafting.

Love this book !!!!

This book does more than just tell you about natural plants growing in your yard. It helps to identify edible herbs/plants, how to help the plants to survive and grow and to be aware of how you can make it a better environment. The photos and illustrations are excellent. The recipes are easy to follow and taste amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone that is interested in learning how to find, harvest and use the edible plants where you live and feel confident in doing so. Rosalee and Emily have done a fantastic job writing this book.

A Timely Textbook, Informative and User-friendly

So grateful to Rosalee and Emily for co-creating "Wild Remedies." Their beautifully illustrated and well-crafted book could not have come into my hands at a better time. I've been fascinated by plants since I was a child, and edible "weeds" in particular, for many, many years. What has made the biggest impression on me, from the beginning of this book, is the importance of being mindful of the ecosystems surrounding the plant I'm currently looking to harvest. Having read the first 7 chapters in "Wild Remedies" that each, in their own way, point toward mindfulness and taking a more conscientious view of caring for our planet, I have since acquired a very different approach as I forage for wild plants. I'm content to wait, observe, and learn about the plants "on my radar" and not be in such a hurry to disturb or worse, disrupt the surrounding wildlife, be they plant or animal, preferring, instead, to occupy the role of caretaker to the plants I'm discovering, during my time out in nature. (Of course, when there's an abundance, I'm ready, willing, and able to make good use of, and enjoy the wonderful recipes Rosalee and Emily have included in their book as well; it's a win-win situation all 'round.) Thank you, Ladies!

That's a nice book

Good job on this book. … I'm still reading. The biggest issue I've found with most foraging and wild medicine books is that they recommend the use of plants without telling you the contraindications - the times when you shouldn't use that herb - which pharmaceuticals they can interfere with - that sort of thing. .. So far, I'm pleased with this book. I do recommend that anyone who is new to foraging to pay close attention to when you shouldn't use an herb, plant or mushroom as most books simply don't cover that aspect.

A bookshelf or backpack staple!

I had high expectations for this book. After receiving it, all of them were blown out of the water! There is so much great information here. It is easy and accessible, and a great beginner companion. It fits in well with my growing library on herbal medicines, and I can't imagine a time without it now! If you are on edge about getting this book, DO IT! You will not be disappointed. Not to mention, all of the downloadable content, online extras, and social media support. This isn't just a book, a guide, but also a community!

A stunning, inspirational, and useful guide to connect to the world of plants

From the beautiful cover to the last page, reading Wild Remedies is like taking a refreshing walk in which you begin to see your local environment with new awareness. This book is helping me enhance and deepen my relationship to the wild plants that grow in my backyard, neighborhood, and region. And not just plants but the many other lives that plants support. This book offers so much: practical instruction in plant identification. a manual on how to ethically and safely harvest plants, a primer on ecological wisdom and connecting to nature, helpful guidance for health and well-being, beautiful writing and stunning imagery, mouth-watering recipes, clear instructions for making remedies for common ills... Rosalee de la Foret and Emily Han have written a generous, kind book that offers a roadmap to healing our communities. I have already bought several copies to give as gifts.

Great info for wild herb gathering

I have learned a lot about herbs from Learning Herbs and Rosalee De La Fortet, through online content and Alchemy of Herbs. This new book, Wild Remedies, has 75 pages of in depth info about plant medicine, wildcrafting, and botany. Several pages of references and detailed index are at the end. Although all the plants discussed won't grow every place, the format allows for a deeper understanding of wild plants for food and medicine. Each plant monograph is detailed and includes interesting recipes for each. I really like this book. Everyone should have a reference book of harvestable wild plants in their area.

fantastically user friendly

What a great addition to my herb library! I began studying herbal medicine over 20 years ago and think this book has much to offer to the whole spectrum of herb lovers and is super accessible for beginners. Lots of beautiful pictures, excellent ID tips (along with plant look-alikes), how to grow and harvest, along with really good, concise information about medicinal uses and wonderful recipes. It's broken down by seasons and has lots of journal exercises and ideas to keep you really engaged. One of the things I love most about it that sets it apart from many other herb books is that it's not a book to read and set aside; it has you actively engaged from the beginning without being overwhelmed. You can read the early chapters of the book and jump right to the current season and go right out and start getting to know your local wild medicine and make medicine right off the bat. Actually you could open the book to the chapter on dandelions, read about them and head out to gather dandelion flowers, make the delicious dandelion maple syrup cake and then go back to the beginning of the book to really start taking in the information. Rosalee and Emily are brilliant at making the world of wild medicine come alive.

Solid info, well organized, and great recipes!

This book is an excellent addition to any herbal bookshelf! I have been studying herbalism for several years now and there was still a lot of things in this book that was new info to me. One thing I really love about this book is how it is organized. It is organized by seasons, so if you are in the middle of summer and are wondering what are some good common medicinals that you can forage right now, just flip to the summer section :) I already made the Dandelion Maple cake. Amazing. My whole household is in love with it. I highly recommend this book!

Best educational Herbal Book on market!

I had been looking for more informational on herbs and there were so many to choose from. I then looked for medicinal herbal books and found this amazing book. There is more to Wild Remedies than just the book... there is a Facebook Group where you can interact and learn even more. The authors are available to you! It is an amazing community. I am in the Book Club where we are all reading through the book, journaling, doing activities and learning to cook with herbs. So glad I found this book. It has changed my nutritional lifestyle.

Just what I needed!

I love this book! With COVID-19 going around I have stayed away from grocery stores and I was missing my mixed greens for salads. I had no idea fresh violets were edible until this book. I'm eating dandelion greens, violet flowers and leaves, and have experimented with some other "weeds" not in the book (I looked online). So foraging is my new "thing" and I love it! the book's format is very clear. It's also beautiful. I have many new ideas already and am very glad to have made this purchase.

Very Informative

This is a wonderful book for anyone looking into using herbs and plants. Full colour pictures make plant identification easier and lots of useful information on the plants growth/ habitat/ possible uses and even cautions. I liked it so much I bought a second copy to give away. Well written, easy to understand and a great format.

Best Wild Remedies Book!!!!

I am a big fan of Rosalee De La Foret and Emily Han! When I heard this book was coming out I immediately purchased it. I live in the New England and majority of these plants coincide where I live. Herbs that I thought were weeds are EDIBLE! Who knew! My kids even love helping me harvest them. The book is easy to understand, has great recipes and tells me what I want to know as I navigate each plant. This is a must have book for any longtime herbalist or even if you are new to herbalism!!!!

Great instuction and helpful pictures.

Just getting into this book, but really enjoying it. The colorful very acturate pictures are so helpful in identifying plants. Love the recipes. Many if have never tried and and looking forward to collecting and making all of them. There is also a FB page where everyone who got the book has been sharing ideas and information with each other. It is great to talk with others who love Herbal foods and medicine. The authors offer helpful advice and when and how to collect the plants you want and how to perserve them. I am hoping them make a Wild remedies 2!!!

A GO-TO BOOK FOR HERBAL REMEDIES

I am literally just starting to read this book, one of the rare reference-type books that I will read from cover to cover. One of its features is an expanded look at specific valuable wild plants, with great pictures and in-depth information. I have already jumped into this section and used it, though it didn't come in time to make the dandelion cake! (Next year.....) I am so looking forward to learning more. I live in a great wildcrafting area, and especially appreciate the sustainable approach the authors use when talking about how to use what grows around you, leaving enough for future generations. I highly recommend this book.

A wonderful gateway

I am an avid gardener and familiar with plants as well as a relatively novice, but serious, home herbalist. I own several books about plant identification and wildcrafting, but none have made it sufficiently accessible that I felt comfortable trying it without taking a class. This book is a better gateway than anything I have found. It is simple, inspiring, beautifully designed, and user-friendly. This is the type of book that makes all the other books more accessible.

For both the experienced wildcrafter, or the very new beginner, a great addition to the library.

Rosalee and Emily have done an excellent job of creating a user-friendly format for anyone wanting to start to wildcraft foraged food or herbal medicines. Using a dozen or so common plants found throughout North America and around the world, they walk the reader through the basic concepts of wildcrafting ethics, techniques, plant identification, and preparation (including yummy recipes!) in such a way as to make what can seem like an overwhelming learning curve into simple steps that take one deeper into learning and experiencing the fun and practical knowledge that harvesting and using wild plants can bring. As someone who has been studying native plants and foraging, eating, and preparing medicinal plants for decades, I find the book delightful in its beautiful photography, beautifully executed (and detailed) botanical illustrations and explanations, and its practical recipes. A bonus, especially for those just starting out on this journey, is the care they took to talk about the importance of learning about where you live and getting to know the plants and the ecology of your specific place/home, as well as the importance of community and ethics in approaching wildcrafting. I recommend this as one of the very best "just getting started" books, as well as a wonderful addition to any library of the experienced wildcrafter. The recipes and resources provided, alone are worth the price of the book.

Too many self indulgent pictures

Not for me. Was really annoyed by all the unnecessary self indulgent pictures of the authors gathering plants in fields. Save it for your instagram ladies! I would recommend this book as an intro only for absolute beginners (though there are better ones out there).

I have other books about wild and useable plants, but this is my new favorite!

I have already learned so much from this book. It has beautiful photos of plants and recipes, and very clear drawings to help identify plants. The recipes are clearly written, and the three I’ve tried have been delicious. The authors have chosen plants that are very common and given clear instructions on harvesting and sustainability. My favorite part is reading about the medicinal and nutritional value of the wild plants.

Anyone can wildcraft!

This book is beautiful! And beautifully written! I am thoroughly enjoying reading it and already using it as the reference book I know it will become. I have already made a few recipes and identified a number of the plants in my own yard. I've also learned new uses for "old friends"--plants I've had that I planted myself, but I had no idea there were so many uses for them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to get a little back in touch with nature, and with themselves.

Very Well laid out book!

I have other wild edible books, but this one is very cool...it is laid out in seasons which makes it sooo much easier to find things! You can go to spring section and see what is ready in the spring and what to look for! Then when summer is here you can move on to the summer section! Wonderful idea! And so many awesome recipes and helpful hints! Very good book...cant wait to go hunting for a lot of the plants!!! :) Thankyou so much for this!!!

Brings herb foraging and use together with your actual life.

This is a glorious book. Beautiful photography that makes you want to run right outside and take a nature walk. Each herb is divided into sections explaining what it does, how to identify and harvest and which lives (besides human) benefit from it. How to blend it into your life. There are even recipes for foods, drinks and medicines to help you take those first steps for gaining confidence entering into a new world that we all need. Well done, Authors!

Wild Remedies

Wild Remedies is a beautifully written book. The authors have created one of the most insightful books that I have read. This book enables the reader to develop a deep relationship with plants and nature. The photographs in the book are gorgeous which helps the reader to identify a plant. I love the recipes and have tried a few of them. This is an ideal book for anyone who is just starting out in their journey on learning about medicinal plants and leads them to the discovery of the world of herbalism. Thank you Rosalee and Emily for an awesome book.

An amazing guide to herbalism

The book is amazing! The organization of it listed by seasons makes it easy to work with the herbs that grow during that time. Each chapters brings better understanding of the herbs uses and benefits. The illustrations and descriptions of the herbs make it a practical guide all around. Rosalee and Emily truly are remarkable herbalists to learn from. This book is good for beginners as well as seasoned herbalists. It runs the full gamut!

Beautiful and highly useful

This is a wonderful book. The pictures are vibrant and the descriptions are detailed so you can identify plants. I’ve enjoyed reading about the plants, hunting for them and making the recipes as well as experimenting with some of my own. This book opens a whole new world one small plant at a time!

Not Overwhelming!

For a large part of my adult life (soon to be 71) I've been drawn to learn about how to identify and properly utilize natures gifts of plants and herbs for food as well as healing. A key area of knowledge and skill for shamans of all types be they First Nation peoples of North or South America, African, Australian, or any other healers or wise peoples, and not to overlook Wicca practitioners. The biggest problem getting started is overwhelm, so much knowledge, so many sources. This wonderful book is a great way to start. The authors introduce us to this fascinating subject in very small, manageable, easily understood bites. Also very important is the emphasis on sustainability. We must ensure and preserve these vital gifts of nature for all future generations. I highly recommend this addition to anyone's personal library, a resource you will actually use and return to again and again.

One of the best books on Herbal Medicine

I love the book Wild Remedies How to Forage Healing Foods and Craft your Own Herbal Medicine by Rosalee De La Forêt and Emily Han. It is a wonderful, well written, very informative book and is practical. It gives the reader step by step instructions, illustrations, growing tips, harvesting tips, recipes, resources, etc. I have been studying herbs, collected herbal medicine books and have been gathering herbs over the years. I bought this book with my sister and enjoy reading it. I will be trying out the recipes. It is one of the best books on Herbal Medicine I have read. Mildred Voll

Gorgeous resource that both instructs and inspires!

This beautiful book far exceeded my expectations! It is a fantastic resource, both with detailed pictures and descriptions for identifying wild herbs, as well as plant information and fantastic recipes for using these plants. I'm so excited to take it to the next level with our family and capture the joy of deeply observing and learning from nature, partaking of the wild bounty, and being grateful for the nutritious health it provides. Having read multiple books on herbalism, I'm so glad to have this in our library because the beauty of the book invites me to linger and inspires me to try new things!

Complete medicinal herb knowledge all in one place

After scanning through Wild Remedies, I knew I had come into a wealth of knowledge about herbs. The herbal medicine field is so vast, Wild Remedies gives you important information including plant identification, attitude of thanksgiving for the plants' presence on this earth, conscious foraging-meaning how you approach the plants, ask permission to harvest some, then leaving some so the plant can live on, medicinal applications, recipes, and much more. This book is valuable to the beginning novice as well as the experienced herbalist. I'm so glad I purchased Wil Remedies. You will be too.

What a Beautiful Book

I have several herbal books (15 or so). This is now the best one I own. It's broken down in a very reader friendly format. The quality of this book is exceptional. I like that they sectioned the plants by the season. And I've learned things that i did not know. For instance - it is not recommended that you eat nettle leaves after they've flowered and gone to seed. Thankfully I haven't done that yet! Get the book. You won't be disappointed.

Must add to your collection!

I love this book! Visually, it’s just beautiful! The pictures are gorgeous, the layout makes it easy to follow, and the text is the perfect size. I’ve been using herbs in recipes for a couple of years, but I’ve never collected them for myself. This book made me confident. I easily recognized several varieties when I was out. What a feeling of empowerment—I CAN do this! Wild Remedies is a MUST add to your collection.

Wild crafting to Help yourself and your family.

This book is wonderful. It’s understandable and brings into focus lots of things I have learned from my Father. I have always had an interest in plants and herbs And this book opens the word. It explains why Wild is better that cultivated. I never realized the science behind wildcrafting. Now I have the tools and the instructions to make things to help myself and my family.

A Unique Addition

Rosalee is at the top of my list of favorite herbalists and this new book is a perfect demonstration of why I love her! I have created a worthy collection of herbal titles while pursuing certification, and the approach with Wild Remedies offers a uniquely focused perspective that includes community, reciprocity, stewardship and deep seasonal knowledge. As a forager and cultivator, I'm excited to spend more time with Emily's wisdom in between my jaunts into the woods. I've had a look through the recipes provided and am can't wait to start trying them; in the meantime I just keep flipping through the book to enjoy the amazing illustrations and photos. This is a must-have title!

Informative and inspiring!

Love Rosalees last book! Rosalee and Emily are informative and inspiring, keep up the good work! As an herbalist I can only say knowledge is power and what is on this planet are the tools that were innately given to us and now we need to rediscover and listen to the power of these gifts to apply to our everyday health and wellness, however, with the right teachers to inform us like this book and of course education through herbal schools. Meanwhile, we also do have many blessed individuals that have been taught Directly from their elders. Being an herbalist is the best kept secret of a well balanced healthy, spiritual, nature connected & peaceful life! Keep on Herbaling, Many blessings to all herbalist!

Beautifully Written and Very In Depth... LOVE it!

I love this book! It is well organized and so informative. The photographs are gorgeous. It help you identify each of the 25 plants, tells you how to harvest, its health benefits and even its ecological connections. It's organized by season, so you can literally start wildcrafting right away. It also has food and beauty recipes for each herb in the book. This is a book I will be using for a very, very long time.

Beautiful, useful, conscientious, and timely.

This book speaks to all that I am and want to be. It is about our health and the health of our environment. It's a book that is being read and used, and not one that is sitting on my bookshelf. The illustrations are beautiful and useful, and the recipes are fun to make. " Wild Remedies" speaks about community, not just of human community, but of the plants, and the community of wildlife that also need the plants, and about using the plants in a mindful and caring way, so as not to deplete our natural resources. I'm really enjoying this wonderfully, and thoughtfully written book.

Best info book and nurturing teaching

I am so excited to learn more every day as all the wonderful bonuses I have been purchasing all herb books from Rosalee she has inspired me as much as this awesome life balancing journey I’m a California resident married to a biologist so we now have amazing conversations as I am so grateful for all the webinars great learning and spiritual feeling daily as we connect to plants and the environments thanks again and happy wild rafting

A wonderful, useful book!

This is such an incredibly useful book! I’ve used herbs for years but have always been terrified to wild craft them myself. This book gives you confidence, tons of information and wonderful, easy recipes. I have discovered new to me remedies literally at the end of my road! It’s thrilling to find food and medicine growing right in your own backyard. I highly recommend.

Beautifully written and well-organized

I have a growing library of herbal books and I am so happy I added Wild Remedies to the shelf! It is a beautifully written and organized book with lots of wonderful photos and detailed images of all parts of each plant that is featured. One aspect that I particularly appreciate are the suggestions for harvesting, which is something I find lacking in many other herbal books. Recipes are always an added bonus and this book has plenty. I find I can never have too many books about herbs. I highly recommend this one to the beginner and long-time student of herbs!

Wildly Wonderful Book

I had purchased her previous book, Alchemy of Herbs, and was so excited to get this, that I preordered it when I first heard about it. I love both books. The Authors have such a wealth of knowledge that is organized so that novices like myself can follow along and learn. I'll be using this for years. Plus, the Facebook group and other online resources that are referenced have been exceptional.

A great addition to your library!

Absolutely love this book. I love that it focuses on common plants around us- some that many consider weeds! It's beautifully put together. The format makes the information accessible and the pictures are lovely. More than a guide book, Wild Remedies shows how plants can and should be a part of our lives- they nourish body, mind and spirit. This book has easily become a go-to whether I'm looking for inspiration or information. If you're a seasoned expert, or new to plant medicine, Wild Remedies has a lot to offer! Oh, and I didn't even mention all the extras- between a docu-series, book-club and a Facebook page, the authors have created something truly special. Thank you!

Not just another herb book

Wild Remedies isn’t just another herb book to add to your shelf. This book not only identifies many plants that can help and support us, but also walks us through building a relationship with nature. Inside you will find beautiful illustrations and pictures. The recipes that I’ve tried so far have all been a big hit with my family and are easy to make. We are so glad to have purchased this book.

Beautiful Book with a Gentle Spirit

Such a beautiful book that makes herb foraging and recipe-making accessible even to a novice. With all the information out there, I really appreciate knowing that I can absolutely trust everything Rosalee and Emily share because of their extensive knowledge and experience with herbs. I'm especially drawn to their spirit of respect and kindness--toward plants and people--and their care for the health of our earth and humanity. Each time I pick up the book to read I feel impressed to slow down, clear my mind, make a space of peace in my heart, and prepare to learn.

Love this book!

I started using wild herbs last summer (2019) when my daughter gave me some wonderful ideas. This book has added to my knowledge in so many fun ways. So far I have used the pine needle recipe for lip balm and massage oil. I have found and replanted Mallow in pots in my yard. And I have dried lots of fun things I found right in my yard. I also made some wonderful jelly from some wild flowers growing right in my own back yard! Thank you for publishing this book and making it available for those of us who want to use herbs in our lives! I look forward to finding and using more wild herbs! It has been a fabulous way to spend my time during the Covid-19 time.

Mostly Recipes

I was looking for more in depth learning on herbs and this book just seems to be a glorified photo and recipe book nothing new from the thousands of books out already on herbs. Don’t waste your money!!!

Book

Love book, very informative.

Invaluable information

This herb book was so beautifully descriptive and the photographs are equally delightful. The passion with which these two ladies present the information compels one to learn more about the mysteries and practical applications of herbs. So glad I purchased Wild Remedies to add to my book collection. Did I mention how beautiful this is written? Oh my goodness...

Wonderful resource for health self reliance and FUN!

I am loving this book. I’ve foraged and made remedies with ease! I love the content and the presentation. As a beginner, it’s been a fun way to learn how to be more self sufficient with my family’s health and nutrition. The recipes are simple and easy to do. The dosing is clear. The photos are beautiful. I like the advice on foraging ethically because the last thing I want to do is bring harm to my environment. It’s amazing to me that plants that I used to throw out of my yard as weeds are now being cared for and used by me for food and medicine. I do a lot of foraging right in my own yard! I love making the refreshing mallow cold infusion with lemon and a little sweetener. Chill it in the fridge, and that hot afternoon just got a lot nicer!

Highly Recommend

100% love and recommend this book . All the support and video lessons that come with this purchase are priceless. Pictures are of dandelion infused jojoba oil. I use this in my pain creams, magnesium creams, and put directly on my husbands eczema ! Cannot praise this book enough. Best identification photos yet. Plus recipes?! Cannot get better than this book .

See the forest for the trees 🌱

Wild Remedies is more than just an easy to use reference for those new to herbal remedies, as well as seasoned gatherers. I love the community built around this book on the Facebook group page, bookclub and Learningherbs website, where information and enthusiasm are shared and questions are answered. This book is different from other herbal books I've purchased by bringing the reader along with Rosalee and Emily's personal connections to the natural world around them. This book has helped me identify "weeds" in my yard that will help my overall health and wellness and to "see the forest for the trees" in a way I haven't before.

Beautiful, informative, and useful

Even though a previous reviewer claimed that it is a duplicate of previous books by the author, I do not find it so. While they both cover dandelions, one covers the root and Wild Remedies covers the flowers and leaves. For Elderberry each book contains different, additional information Chapter 22 in both books and different recipes. The Elderberry gummies are a treasure. Nettle is very similar in both books, but the addition of the detailed drawn images as well as the photos is very helpful to gather more detail of the plants for more precise ID can be made. Yes there are approximately 4 or 5 chapters on the same plant in both books, but that still leaves at least 20 that are not in the original, "Alchemy of Herbs".. I love having both of these wonderful books on my shelf for reference and recipes.

Can a person be in love with a book?

If it's possible to be in love with a book, I'm there with this one. Not only is it a juicy read with lots of information, it's a feast for the eyes. I'm grateful it was created and grateful to have it on my coffee table!

One of the best herb books out there!

This book is well written, full of very informative but easily understood information whether you are a beginner who just wants to know what's in your yard, a student just starting out working with herbs, or a seasoned herbalist. This is the book for you! It is beautifully illustrated with pictures that will make plant identification easy. It's a great addition to herbal studies and any herb library.

Excellent book... This is a keeper!

A well written text on how to extract and formulate medication from the earth. It works, is often at hand in the yards, fields and forests that are accessable to most for little or no cost. It will surprise you in this easy to read book how you can gain more control in regards to your health. A solid work for a lifetime of happiness.

Just buy it already!

The day this book came in, I instantly opened it and actually used it on an essay paper I was writing in my Herb 201 class. I love the pictures, the little inspirational and thought-provoking quotes. The amount of information on the herbs was quite nice as well. It is beautiful, engaging, and very easy to read. It does include the botanical names, the herb family, parts used, energetics, taste, therapeutic properties, what it is used for and the preparations used. It does not have a list of the active constituents in the herb. Maybe this is something to consider if a revision is ever done.

Teaching a Master Herbalist

This book is fantastic! As a Master Herbalist, I learn something new every day. This book offers a solid base to learn the herb, what it treats and how to use it in herbal remedies. The book’s illustrations help the reader search their “Yard Pharmacy” to see what they have available to add to their apothecary. Buy the book!

I love this book!!!l

I have been growing herbs in my garden for a few years not really knowing how to use them. This book solved that problem. After reading about nettles I went out and gathered nettle leaves and cooked them up like spinach, added vinegar and oil and they were delicious. I like how it is organized into seasons so you know what to look for at any time of the year and how to gather and what to do with them afterwards. The pictures are beautiful with many yummy looking recipes. It is well worth the money and I paid full price for it. I see it is on sale now. Don't pass up a good deal while you have the chance! :)

Educational, inspiring and filled with beautiful colored illustrations and photographs

This is a wonderfully written, beautifully illustrated book, rich with detailed descriptions, recipes and gorgeous colorful photos. Loads of information here. Excited to start foraging with my daughter who's only 7 but loves eating plants she finds in the wild. She also loves cooking and being self sufficient in general, so this book is right up our alley. Highly recommend!

Great helpful book

I am new to Herbalism this was a great book for me to start out with. the pictures and the descriptions and how they explain things, it’s so easy to understand. this is a wonderful book for anyone wanting to learn more about Wildcrafting or herbs. I’m not sure for someone in the advanced level because I’m not advance but it seems like a great book. I would recommend it to anybody who is just starting out in herbalism. Good job

Best book for identifying and using wild herbs

This is the best book I have bought so far. There are a lot of common plants with pictures, drawings of the plant showing the parts of the plants, instructions on harvesting and using the plants. This book is loaded with information, very useful, a great reference book for new and old herbalists. I highly recommend it. This should be the first book you buy.

Beautiful, easy read and wonderful recipes

I absolutely love learning about the herbal remedies we have all around us, and this book does a great job in explaining (and showing) the different plant species and what I can do with them. I have more confidence to pick plants within my own yard and now know what to do with them and why! Thank you for writing such a beautiful book :)

Beautiful, usable and practical.

I have followed Rosalee And John for a few years and I value everything they offer. Their work is always high quality and I add Emily to that assessment now too. This book is so beautiful it’s wonderful to have just to look through. Bonus is that it has excellent information and guidance as well. Win win. I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks to all of you. It’s an elegant book.

This book is full of information that is more helpful than I have found in other herb books.

This is a beautiful book, I am familiar with most of the herbs, so this book is a real treasure for me. You will not be disappointed. this book is easy to read, it is filled with herbs, plants and trees that all of us have come in contact with, sometime in our lives. this is top shelf information. You won't be disappointed.

The book is fantastic!

This book is so well written and beautifully illustrated. One can take this one book and begin to identify plants in the wild and make your own extracts. I have been studying herbs for over 25 years now and this book is one of my top 3 books for information and for identifying wild herbs. It is well worth the money.

Absolutely Stunning Work!

I really do love this book! It’s a wonderful introduction to the art and the science of foraging wild medicine in a safe and sustainable way. I have sat under Rosalee’s online teaching for more than two years and this book meets or exceeds the quality that I am used to from Rosalee and Learning Herbs/Herb Mentor. Just stunning work! Excellent recipes, and truly accessible and fun Information to get you stared on the road to a healthier life. You will not be sorry you purchased this treasure! Allison Nisbet True North Herbals Bremerton, WA Contributor: Fire Cider! 101 Recipes for Health-boosting Remedies Made With Apple Cider Vinegar.

Surviving Quarantine!

It was during the initial quarantine for Covid that I realized I had 'hibernated' during Winter (attended the Iditarod in Alaska and sequestered on our return). I had not seen Winter end nor the coming of Spring. Time, life and the seasons were passing me by. At my daughter's suggestion several of us purchased the book ( and workbook) and are going through it together, sharing our observations and feelings and experiences. Since we all live in very different environments it has been (continues to be) fascinating and encouraging. Thank you Emily and Rosalee!

Beautiful, thoughtful, engaging

This is a beautiful book that invites deeper intimacy with the natural world through organic and conscious relationship with wild earth. Rather than just giving information about herbs, Wild Remedies invites soulful exploration, deep listening, and mindful practices that help the reader to better understand how to engage in respectful reciprocity with one's home place. Not only have I learned so much about herbal remedies and the particular gifts of the plants addressed though this book, but more importantly I feel better equipped with a thought process, thoughtful questions, and ethical guidelines that help me to show up in an honorable way as I seek to learn from, receive and return the gift of plants. This book is truly special. I highly recommend.

What more can one ask

A super guide for beginners and Experienced alike. Helps one to better understand the world of weeds around us. Remember, a weed is only a plant out of place. Recommend for any one who does not spray to kill plants out of place and willing to learn how to use what grows all around us.

It will change the way you view the green in your life!

This book is so fun and practical! When I go for a walk, instead of wondering what the plants are that I see, I can identify a few of them. The basic botany chapter is easy to understand. There are lots of recipes. It is interactive and encourages enjoying the great outdoors with a new understanding of the plants all around us. Love this book and I have shared it with many.

Identifies common plants in our own backyards we can use for food and medicine❤️

I preordered this book! I have Rosalee’s “Alchemy of Herbs” and didn’t want to miss out on her new one! This book is a great tool for the new herbalist. It brings to life the outside world! When hiking or just walking In my own backyard, I’m developing a new relationship to the plants around me. Rosalee and Emily have not just created a book about plants but have captured an essence of what it means to use plants for food and medicine. We are meant to be connected to the earth and the plants. It’s amazing what’s out there in our own backyards! This is book and accompanying videos is more than facts and recipes about common plants but a philosophy as well!

Excellent resource, so well written!

This is such a great addition to my herbal library. Very informative, it captivates your interest and gives such good ideas for responsibly harvesting wild herbs and flowers. Also filled with great recipes, many are unusual, not just the standard tincture and teas instructions. Some beautiful recipes for using these great wild plants in cooking. Highly recommended, I have consulted it often and will continue to do so.

It's an interesting read about different herbs

I like that the book is easy to read and has big pictures of the plants. The explanations are very clear. The section about dandelions is especially interesting. Glad to see that there is information for each plant such as botanical name, uses, other common names, parts used, etc.

Great Book for anyone

This book helps people understand how much possible medicine is around them and how easy it is to harvest. The pictures help with the identification and they give recipes to get you on your was to better health (in my opinion). I would recommend this book to any one at any level, you never know what you can glean from it.

A Fabulous Book

I am so happy with this book. It is well laid out and the instructions are easy to follow. I am glad I bought it because I am going back to living completely naturally, from which I strayed, with the help of this book. I really need to get back to that natural life style again. Great job Rosalee and Emily (I have always admired Rosalee and her teachings).

Not just about "using" herbs, but knowing & helping them too

Beauty, practicality, organization according to seasons, clearly, lovingly, simply explained without overwhelm, recipes so you can really bring the herbs into your Daily life, links to their online learning classes for more info and facebook, plus freebies galore--these are a few things I like about this book (plus I like the authors' dedication to share with everyone). I savor this book; it is luscious! I am now proud to have sunny Dandelions in my lawn. (I used to hate them-how backwards is that..)

Learn how to gather and use herbs.

Great book for not only learning about herbs but, how to learn how to forage them in your home area. Great way to learn about herbs for the beginners and alot of knowledge for the experienced Herbalists. I would recommend this book. I give it a five star for the great lessons.

A most wonderful healing book!

This book is a most treasured addition to my herbal library. As a clinical herbalist & teacher, I have read quite a few books on herbal subjects. This book has something for everyone ---- those just beginning on the herbal path & those who have been studying for a long time. It is written in such a caring, loving and supportive way and the illustrations & photos are superb. Safety is emphasized also, which is important. I've been picking it up to soothe my nerves during these tumultuous times. A labor of love, much work & much time that is much appreciated. Job well done!!!

Beautiful Book and great support!

This book is arranged by season. It is filled with beautiful photos, recipes, medicinal values and plant, "gifts". The authors are true nature lovers and the best part is an on-line support family who are all working together to remember nature’s bounty.

must have in your herbal book collectionj

OK let my just start by saying that everything supported by Learning Herbs is amazing. They try very hard to make it easy to encorporate herbs into your everyday life. This book is well written, has beautiful pictures and contains doable recipes. No only is the book fabulous but it connects with with an amazing online support system to support your herbal learning journey. Really an A+ book I would recommend to anyone seeking to learn about and use herbs from around you...

Beautiful, thoughtful, and well researched

This is an excellent book. Well organized, thoughtful, and incredibly well researched! It is especially timely, as social isolation can be a bit daunting. Wild Remedies encouraged me to not only get outside more, but have a relationship with my local parks and meadows. I will be returning to this book time and time again, and recommending it to all my friends and coworkers!

An Excellent Resource

This is a fantastic well written and researched book with information, photos and recipes. I'm new to foraging and learning what I can and can't use. This book is very informative and helpful and I love the recipes I have tried. I look forward to learning more as I read through it and trying more recipes. It's an exciting journey into herbs, not just a book.

Wonderful wild plant guide

I'm loving this book! As a returning wild plant forager, it is wonderful to be seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones. Great descriptions and pictures as well as suggestions and recipes! I definitely recommend this wonderful book.

Beautiful book, useful information

EVEN IF YOU KNOW NOTHING...

EVEN IF YOU KNOW NOTHING about plants and herbs, this book is amazing. Beautiful, visual, informative, and valuable. Makes a SUPER gift. I got one for myself and am getting one for my sister! The authors -- Rosalee and Emily did an incredible job with this. You will not be disappointed!!

Now is the time!

There has not been a more relevant time to have a book like this! When you see your country, the world, halted by the fear of widespread disease, you realize we are not alone but we also need to be able to take care of ourselves. Having the resources of this gook to help us supplement our bodies with nourishment and plant medicine is all the more important. It is not wise to be so dependent on the outside world. We need for skills to take car of ourselves like generations before us. This book will get you started on that path!

Genuine

This book is the real deal, and it is beautiful and well thought out. The pictures are excellent. There is a significant amount of useful information. I would say I am between a beginner and moderate level knowledge for this subject and found the book helpful and believe it will be one of my go-to references.

Written by 2 highly knowledgeable and integral herbalists—I highly recommend this book!!!

Beautiful reminder of being one with nature.

I was so excited to get this book and continue my journey with the plants. Just feeling the cover gave me a sense of calm. For a beginner it is simple to understand and a great place to start. As one that has been studying for awhile it brings a deep commitment to the plants and this place we call our home, Earth. A good reminder of who we should be as a herbalist. I love the recipes and the beautiful pictures. Well done Rosalee and Emily. I will enjoy it for many years to come and hopefully my children and their children will pick it up and feel the same someday. Definitely will be passed down to future generations.

What a beautifully written book!

What a beautifully written book! This book is a must have in anyone's library. I have followed Rosalee for a couple years now and I must say she teaches well. I love her well thought out presentations and now this amazing book just shows exactly that. Rosalee and Emily did an amazing job describing and guiding us through foraging towards healing ourselves with what is available for us. I really like the well thought out layout of this book. Great job ladies! Thank you!

An Invaluable Book

I acquired this book to learn more about herbalism & foraging. This is an excellent, well written book with tons of information and good pictures. I have found Wild Remedies to be a valuable resource for referencing much of what's out there.

Beautiful book

I knew I was going to like this book even before I bought it! It is BEAUTIFULLY illustrated with both real and illustrated pictures. My 3 1/2 year old granddaughter went through the entire book picking out all the butterflies and bugs. She even knew the dandelions, her personal favorite! I took it up to the cabin last weekend to ID some of the plants. Plantain, wild roses, and yarrow, were some of my favorites. Some I thought I knew were not what I thought. I am so glad I purchased your book as well as you other book, Alchemy of Herbs. Both have prominent places in my kitchen

Spring for the hard copy

I absolutely love this book. It is organized by harvest season which is just brilliant. My only regret in purchasing this book is that I got the kindle version. I wish I had gotten the paper copy the photographs are stunning and I want to see them in the larger non digital format.

More than a book, a resource, journey and work of art

Wow! Just wow! I seldom buy paper books anymore since i want to remain clutter free. But this book is a work of art, a resource, and a gem. It is filled with color, knowledge and journey. I am SO happy i bought it. I love the authenticity, humility, and simplicity of the authors. It took the “scare” out of foraging. Great book for beginners as well as intermediate. The journal portions are priceless and help cultivate mindfulness and relationality with the plant world. Thanks for this wonderful gift! I love it!

Timely information & incredible knowledge

This book is amazing. Rosalee and Emily have poured so much thought and knowledge into this book of wild remedies so everyone can begin harvesting their own "weeds" for food and medicine. Knowledge is power and this is one of the most powerful tools in my wildcrafting kit. They guide you through the seasons on a culinary experience that will delight anyone. I firmly believe this information is going to become more and more vital to us in the future. Thank you for creating this book.

Wonderful resource!

Wild Remedies is just what I was looking for to help me learn more about wild plants and what some people call weeds. The book has excellent guidelines for using the plants and doing this sustainably. My daughter loves my book and so I am ordering her one before she steals mine.

Excellent Resource

Wild Remedies is a wonderful resource for everyone regardless of your level of knowledge of herbs. There is so much information between the covers of the book! The book is so well written and the illustrations are beautiful.

An Inspiration

This book has been inspiring and motivational, not to mention timely. Not only is it beautifully laid out, but it includes so many helpful resources, within the book as well as online. I love all the recipes and uses included for the plants, the photography is gorgeous, and the journaling and lessons make it so easy to use. Wild Remedies Ideals are just what I need in my life. I've even gotten my parents interested in learning more about the plants around us. Time to head to the woods!

Wonderful resource

This book is very well done. I love that’s it’s laid out by season and then specific herbs. I’ve learned so much since buying this book. I’ve tried several recipes and have discovered that amazing apothecary potential is lurking in every corner of my property. For the aspiring herbalist this is a must for your collection of resources! The authors even include loads of other bonuses! They share their herbal wisdom in a strait forward practical fashion that has propelled me forward in my journey of learning.

Get this book!

As an experienced forager and folk herbalist of over 30 years, I found this book to be a delight! Wonderful recipes, inter-connections to the living world around us (it's not just about the plant you're harvesting!), honorable harvesting,... this book delivers to the beginner as well as the seasoned herbalist! Highly recommended for everyone!

Amazing, beautiful book!

This book is amazing. I still can’t get over the wealth of information provided here, and the thoughtful way it is presented. The beautiful photos and illustrations never disappoint and are helpful for plant identification. The creative recipes are truly interesting and inspiring. (I never thought I’d be interested in working with fir needles but these recipes sparked my curiosity.) Personally beneficial are the wildcrafting principles and mindset (awareness, gratitude, etc.) showcased in the beginning of the book. I so appreciate the amount of time and effort that obviously went into producing this masterpiece. Thank you Rosalee and Emily!

Very Useful and Usable!

I like the fact that the plants featured in this book are common and grow very close to where I live. I am already familiar with them but was not aware of how useful they are. I have used this book extensively already to harvest and prepare several plants for use. Great for the beginner!

What plant is that? And why is it here?

If walking through the woods or even around your backyard makes you wonder about the wild plants growing about, then this book is for you. Beautifully written and illustrated, the writers help you connect to our world of plants. I particularly find the wildcrafting checklist helpful in responsibly harvesting plants. The book is full of useful recipes and remedies. I highly recommend this book for every native plant lover.

Two amazing herbalists and writers

This is a third book that I've purchased written by Rosalee and Emily - Alchemy of Herbs, Wild drinks and cocktails and now Wild Remedies. They do such an amazing job educating and entertaining their readers. Each chapter is such a wealth of information, and the recipes are awesome! Did you know they had a whole army of testers re-create each one of them. The book arrived several days ago, and I can't put it down. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!

Lovely Book and so helpful

I bought this book and love it. I've been into herbs for over 37 years, but this is another wonderful addition to my own personal library. I first bought "Alchemy of Herbs", and then "Wild Remedies" when it came out. Emily Han and Rosalee de la Foret did an excellent job. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in identifying, using and making your own herbal foods and medicines.

Very educational and applicable!

Rosalee and Emily are wonderful authors. It's a joy to read the book with beautiful pictures and related stories, but most of all the information they give in the book. It is easy to read, understand and apply the knowledge you gain from the book. If you like herbs and want to go a little wild check out Wild Remedies. It's great to be able to go outside and walk around and find little gems within walking distance of your house whether you are in the city or country. It's a great read!

Beautiful to look at and SO user friendly and comprehensive!

I have quite a few herbal resources, but this book is AMAZING. First of all, it is physically gorgeous. The photography and illustrations are phenomenal. And the information about each wild plant is incredibly comprehensive - often 7 pages or so, including a recipe for each herb. This is a MUST have if you are hoping to take advantage of the wonders of wild plants for food and for remedies. I truly LOVE this book. The authors are super cool people, too. You can find their videos on their Learning Herbs website.

Knowledge is a tool

This book is colorful and full of knowledge about plants. I have been using it quite a bit in my own garden planning. I am making sure that I have some of as many plants as I can and using them.

This book is amazing 💗

This book has inspired me to look at my environment around me and see the beauty in the common plants that just willingly grow in my yard. Both ladies have poured their heart & soul into designing this book to be user friendly and jam packed with recipes. Not to mention the hub and all the additional info on the site that went a long with the book to help support you through your new plant connections. Such a wonderful book to have in your collection! 💗

AWESOME OVERALL REFERENCE

This is a "must have" for beginners, experienced and expert herbalists with an interest in expanding your knowledge of herbs and how to use them...medicinally and in culinary preparations. The information provided is concise and illustrations are detailed, which assist in identification. The support continues online and through webinars and emails with additional information.

The Road to Health

This book is fabulous - filled with so much information, tons of recipes and beautiful pictures. You can tell that Rosalee and Emily wrote this book with love. This is a wonderful addition to my book library and it will be well used, loved and appreciated. THANK YOU.

Gorgeous book with lovely, easy to implement information

I was so excited to receive my book and discover how absolutely beautiful it is! I had pre-ordered it and didn't know what herbs were going to be covered, but I am going to be able to use the 'weeds' in my yard to make most of the remedies and recipes in this book and I am very much looking forward to it. I have read about a few of the plants and can't wait to learn more about wildcrafting and some of the amazing healing plants that abound.

This book "works"

First WILD REMEDIES is beautiful. It is almost a workbook and an art book. I needed the photos to develop confidence in foraging wild herbs. Even though I have been doing bits of this for a long time this book shows one how to use the plants to make your own remedies so it's practical. And the recipes are great! That's how the book becomes a workbook. Plus it offers the respect and advice to be responsible and sustainable in foraging. It covers the bases!

Supersonic informative book of knowledge

Bought this as a present for my brother living in LA. He loves the book, beautiful photos and simple but clever descriptions. Easy to follow instructions and enthusiastically building you up to read more. Highly recommend this book. I ordered 5 books in total, all for friends and 1 for me! Sadly, I'm locked down in Austria and my book from Amazon Germany hasnt been dispatched or even giving a possible delivery date. That doesn't take away from this wonderful book as all my friends are thrilled they got it and I can't wait to finally get mine! Soon I hope.

Herbal medicine can be simple and free and easy to acquire.

This book is perfect. I have skimmed through then started at the beginning to learn. It is so practical. And I am so excited to know the medicines we need are always in the same environment we live in. No far away hunting down exotic herbs from foreign lands or highly expensive ones from an herb store. Of course there is a place for those as well. But the day to day living and using herbs is really in our own back yards or a neighborhood field or alleyway. Brilliant workbook!

Beautiful & Informative

I pre-ordered this book in Feb. and was pleasantly surprised to receive it earlier than expected. The book is published beautifully; plant pictures are large and clear, helpful in correct plant identification. The recipes are simply written and easy to comprehend. I can not wait to get out and responsibly forage for some of the plants in this book, giving back to nature along the way. I have ordered some of the herbs/plants as they are not yet able to be grown in my area.

Excellent!

This book is excellent! A great addition to my collection of herb books. I see this being an awesome gift in the near future for my friends and family who love herbs. Love it!

I really enjoy this book :)

This book is everything I wanted it to be, and more. I have several edible wild plants/medicinal plants books, but Wild Remedies stands out in how well-rounded the information is about each plant. Also, I really appreciate that the book is organized by season; I don't believe I've ever seen another guidebook do that, but it makes perfect sense. Thank you so much to the authors of Wild Remedies for making this, and the wonderful Learning Herbs team overall. I really love and appreciate this resource. <3

So much more impressed the I expected!

Wow, just completely surprised me with the really great photos to help ID plants and enjoy. The many alternative recipes and how to use herbs in a variety of ways. Many books have recipes for teas, tinctures etc but not ways to utilize beyond that. This book shows ways to utilize and make much more palatable and creative to enjoy. The ecological connections too are something I don't often see and helps greatly when planning your gardens and draw in beneficials.

A must for your Herbal library

Not only is this book beautiful to hold in you hands because of the wonderful quality paper, beautiful photos, and illustrations but both authors have a palpable sacred, honoring of the plants. You can feel the reverence in all they do regarding the plants and I resonate with them. The added bonuses are quite generous. Even if like me you have worked with herbs for years and have an herbal library- you need this book.

Finding God's gifts in my own backyard.

I was so totally unaware of all the beneficial plants God has made available to me in my own backyard! It is fun discovering the names and uses for all these plants. The interactive website is also a plus. So this is more than just a book...it's more like a helping community and a classroom.

Best Herbal Book that Money Can Buy!

This is a beautifully done adventure with very clear photos to support the wealth of information about herbs and how to use them. Very easy to understand and best value for your money!!

beautiful book

It's a beautiful book. I did find it difficult to find herbs that I know something about (like valerian). I do plan to dig deeper into it to see if I can identify more local herbs.

Easy to read, full of joy, exactly what I needed to know

I have had many amazing herbal books, and this is for sure top 3! Especially as I dive into foraging and getting to know the earth around me. My children and I are out every day looking for the plants in your book, interacting with the plants and making some of the recipes from the book. This book was created from a true passion and respect for the plants and it is easy to see that. Love it! buy it!

Beautiful book

Loved reading this book. Brought back wonderful memories of my childhood. Great information on how to use wild plants and spend more time with them in nature.

My new favorite!

The material in this book is similar to other herbal reference books I have, but the layout, beautiful illustrations, and abundant recipes make it a new favorite!

knowing wild plants and how to use them

Loved the illustrations and, of course, the well w written material explaining everything you would need to know about wildcrafting. Amazingly complete and comprehensive.

the price of the book was affordeable

i like the way they did the book with the info of the herbs and the way they put it in to the seasons of the year what i did not like about the book was that the cover of the book came unglued on the back of the book binding . i will probable have to put it in a note book or something because i really like the book and want to keep it togather

Beautiful and welcoming

Beautifully written and well organized, with clear inviting pictures, well executed botanical drawings, and easy to follow suggestions. I have many herb books, and this is already a favorite!

Another wonderful book from Rosalee!

My copy of Rosalee's first book, Alchemy of Herbs, is worn with wear. So I didn't hesitate to pre-order Wild Remedies. With this book I find amazing remedies right in my back yard. Thank you so much Rosalee & Emily!

Book is full of learning info about herbs

This book is very helpful to learn and use as a reference guide looking things up. They offer an accompanying course you can be a member and have access to even more information on herbs, growing them, picking them, using them. There are podcasts and video tutorials. It's well worth it.

Herbal ID at my fingertips

I love this book - I have a reference when I forage for wild herbs - great photos and descriptions as well as recipes to use the wild herbs I gather.

Love the book! It's a easy ready! So much in this beautiful well written book. Beautiful pictures. I love that you not only learn but participate with questions and journaling. I recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn herbalism or already are an Herbalist. 💜

Very informative

This may just be one of the best books I have ever bought. Beautiful, clear pictures, very nicely written recipes, and it is abundantly clear what each plant is and does. I love that I can use this to help ID the plants that are around me. Great for those learning herbals.

My favorite book

I hesitate to buy books these days because often times the book is disappointing. That is not the case with this book! I fell in love with the book from page 1. It covers so much important information but not so scientific that I can't figure out what they are talking about! I love the journal options and the connection to the community. A great book to help you find your way back to nature and enjoy the plants around us sustainably. Well done, Emily and Rosalee! This is a book to hang on to and use every season!

Excellent reference book

I love this book! It is very written in a concise, easy to understand manner and has wonderful full color photography to help make identification easier. The authors also have a Facebook forum to allow readers to ask questions and get additional information.

Contains approachable wisdom, beauty and inspiration...

This book is absolutely incredible and has made wild foraging feel possible! Filled with approachable and beautiful plant knowledge, excellent writing and guidance, and the loveliest recipes to boot. I feel far more prepared, confidant and excited to finally take this new path than I have using any other guide previous. The fire has been lit and I highly recommend for anyone else looking for solid approachable guidance and inspiration to take action.

Incredible book

I have cherished books by Rosalee De La Foret and Emily Han, but now they have come together to create an amazing book. The recipes are like none you've tried and it is full of information. For each plant it gives the common name, botanical name, what part of the plant is used, the energetics and properties of the plant, and how to use it. The book if rife with photos of plants to help in identification as well as pics of recipes and remedies. Really love this book.

Wonderful resource for all foragers

Whether you are a seasoned forager, or just getting started, this book will add so much to your knowledge. I foraged with my mother growing up and later, we enjoyed attending the North Carolina Wild Food Weekend events. The recipes in Emily and Rosalee’s book reminds me of the wild food feasts at those events. It’s so nice to have such a beautiful resource and wonderful collection of recipes in this very special book!
