I cannot say enough about this book! Just beautiful and inspiring! I just got back from my 1st visit to the Rocky Mountain National Park(it’s February). Snow was everywhere and frozen lakes - beautiful. I was looking for a good coffee table/picture book to explore pictures of the park in other seasons - this book was exactly what I was looking for. Gorgeous photos and insight into the park! I highly recommend this book!!!!

There are lots of beautiful places on this planet--so many, in fact, that no one will ever be able to see them all. Wild Light brings the best of Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park into your home and makes you wish it could do the opposite instead and transport you into the wilderness. Mr. Stensland, who resides near the park, spends hundreds of days and thousands of hours every year hiking to remote destinations in RMNP in an effort to be present when all the ideal conditions come together to create moments of magic. Sometimes that means hiking ten miles to the same spot over and over again until everything is just right. Those moments, which he solemnly captures, are presented in this magnificent book. The quality of the photography, from lighting to composition to imagination, is outstanding. The book itself is divided into sections based upon park geography. For those who have visited, this approach makes sense because different regions of the park do actually vary considerably. Each section contains dozens of magnificent scenes. Mountains, streams, waterfalls, wildflowers, forests, trees, and wildlife all make appearances and combine to offer something for every reader. Also included are brief descriptions of each area formulated over the many years Mr. Stensland has been hiking the park's trails. It is in these paragraphs that Erik's personal relationship with the park comes to life. I am also happy to report that Mr. Stensland is a genuinely nice guy. He operates a gallery in Estes Park, CO, where his photography is available for purchase. He is known by many to do absolutely everything in his power to minimize the impact he has on fragile ecosystems while photographing the park. Practicing "Leave No Trace" hiking, he is cognizant of every footstep he takes and always aims to leave the wilderness a better place than he found it. He also no longer shares the exact locations of his photographs in an attempt to minimize the additional traffic that could result from others trying to replicate a photograph. This book will grace my coffee table until I no longer have one. It garners oohs and ahhs from everyone who flips through it. Erik Stensland is lucky to have RMNP, and RMNP is lucky to have Erik Stensland. This is his work at its most accessible. I promise you won't be disappointed.

An absolute knockout of a photography book. I am a lifelong collector of these kinds of books, and this is easily one of the best I have found in terms of quality and beauty. The author is a uniquely gifted individual in wisdom and skill. I don't make recommendations lightly, but in this case, this is a rare gem of a book and you will enjoy it and be blessed by it, most assuredly.

It's hard to say which I enjoyed more - the beautiful photography or the wonderful text. This book is much more than just a collection of pretty pictures. It's informational and yet highly personal at the same time. Stensland's love for the park is clear on every page. Not only does he present an insider's view on the park but also how the park has changed him. The book is organized around the park's regions, ecosystems, seasons, wildlife and human history of the park (and the changing role of the NPS). Stensland touches on more than just the beauty of the park, but also on deeper themes such as why we should care about - and why we need - places of beauty and wilderness and how they speak to our humanity. His goal is not so much to provide a documentary of the park but to allow us share in the wonder and magic of his experiences. Whether you're a regular visitor to RMNP or reading about the park from a distance, this book draws you into the heart and essence of this special place.

This beautiful book will take you into the heart of Rocky Mountain National Park and give you a glimpse of why this place is so loved by many. Erik captures rare photos and moments that most will never see. A must own book!

This is a truly beautiful book. I bought one as a gift for friends and one for myself. The quality of paper is very good...nice and heavy stock that lends itself to bringing out the best in the photographs. I live in Colorado and bought this as a coffee table book to look at and remind myself why I live here. I also take it with me to share with family members, and use it to orient guests to possible travels when they visit beautiful Colorado. This is a book that will give you many hours, days and years of joy. The quality is superb. A really classy book and great value. Highly recommend for both photographers and Colorado lovers.

My husband and I received this book for Christmas last year and we absolutely love it. The photography is breathtaking and the writings are so inspiring. I highly recommend this as a gift or to keep.

Buy this book. Erik is a trembous professional, but more than that he has the ability to create images that stir the soul. You should buy this book. Better yet, you should buy several copies as gifts for your friends and relatives. That's what I've done.

This is an amazing book. Erik is not only an incredible photographer, but a great writer as well. The way he captures light in his images makes them jump off the page. I love this book. It is a constant on my coffee table and never gets old flipping through the pages that bring so many amazing childhood memories of growing up in RMNP back to life.

We purchased four copies of this book for Christmas gifts, and they were VERY well-received. We continue to get thanks from the recipients, even though it's been over a year now. The photographs are spectacular and the commentary Erik provides makes you feel almost as if you were hiking there with him.

Mr. Stensland’s love and reverence for the place were very apparent on each page. Loveliest pictures of RMNP I have ever seen. I bought this at Mr. Stensland’s gallery as a souvenir for our trip to RMNP in 2016.

We bought this book at the gallery in Estes Park during our most recent visit. We leave it out on display, enjoy looking through the images and it's a great conversation piece with guests. RMNP is one of our family's favorite destinations so looking through this helps when we need a mountain fix and can't actually be there.

We visited the RMNP for the first time last summer. We couldn't take enough pictures!! So we bought this book. It is a steal -- well worth the price. Each photo is as breathtaking as the next. A great way to remember the park without having to worry that your pictures won't do it justice. Such a relaxing read.

Absolutely stunning book with beautiful photography of landscapes and wildlife. There are photographs of the different seasons in Rocky Mountain National Park as well as information about so many things in the park. You will be sure to fall in love with Rocky.

Wonderful, wonderful book! Erik's photographs not only capture what you see with your eyes when visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, but what you feel in your heart. We go back every year, and this book helps tide me over until our next visit. How do get homesick for a place you've never lived? Don't know, but Erik's photos are the cure.

I preordered this book when it was first published. It is fabulous and many an hour has been filled with joy and inspiration looking at the lovely photographs and reading Erik's inspirational writing that goes with each photo. A must have book in my opinion!
