This is a beautifully written book in a series that impossibly gets better and better.
This book, Whispers From The Dead is just more. The Veil Diaries is just more. When is a hug more than a hug? When it's between the Tough guy and Baby. When is a kiss more than just a kiss? When it comes from any one of the guys. When is a dog more than just a dog? When it's Hades. When is a high school mean girl more than just a bit**? When it's Jessica (or Tara). See what I mean or should I go on? This book/this series is just more, it's everything! Whispers From The Dead returns the reader to Alexis Delaney, 17 year old high school necromancer, keeper of the Veil, lover of coffee, wanna-be tattoo artist, and center of the universe to an incredible group of young men, Miles, Asher, Isaac and Ethan, and Zeke. Lexy is still recovering from the brutal attack she suffered at the hands of Clay Ordin. She's in therapy for her PTSD and it's a daily struggle. All of her guys are having a hard time with her pain, but her trauma has triggered Zeke's own issues. It's a tough time for the friends. Not to mention that there's an influx of dead and they are getting more pushy by the day. And there's still the issue of Sophie. It's time for her to cross. Lexie is tired; tired of the dead, tired of Veil work, tired of being afraid, tired of Tara's nastiness; plain old TIRED. But this is Lexie. She's a fighter and she has Rory, Hades, and her guys. She starts confronting her fears; fear from the attack and her deeper fear of abandonment. It's time she decides she's "all in". This is a book of emotions. Negative; fear, anger, hurt, worry, feelings of betrayal. Positive; love, attraction, warmth, happiness, amusement, relief. It's a book of confrontations. It's time to face fears, stop procrastinating, and reveal secrets, Lexie's childhood impacted the person she became. The attack has left her forever changed. That's okay. She's still Alexis. She's a beautiful, fiery, talented, stubborn, intelligent, loving young lady. She has a temper and a potty mouth. She has a light that cannot be ignored. She's still Alexis, she just has a few more triggers that need to be acknowledged. The guys carry the weight of their own pasts. Growing up means putting the past to rest. Some are more successful at this than others. It's an on-going journey. This is a beautifully written book in a series that impossibly gets better and better. It's a must-read and that will probably happen in one sitting. It's captivating. I am more attached to and invested in these fictional characters than I am in some of my actual acquaintances. I adore Lexi and her guys, Rory (World's Best Uncle), Maria, and Riley. I can't wait for more!
Amazing series!
This review will have some spoilers in it so be warned. I absolutely love this series! The characters are incredibly addicting the story line keeps you guessing and attached. And you really get into the main character's head. The romance is to die for but might kill me waiting for something to develop! This book out of all of them moved a little slower to me and had a lot more hard parts that made me want to cry or made me mad. But in the end I was very very happy and can't wait for the next one! I reread the first three before I read this one to get back in the mood and I highly suggest it. But it broke my heart when she couldn't hug Zeke anymore! That absolutely killed me. I find these books kind of crazy because I have red hair, my nickname is red, I'm from Missoula Montana, I'm a tattoo artist, I have a loud sarcastic personality and all guy friends for the most part. My dad raised wolves and rehabilitated them like Zeke's family does. And I used to sing in a band when I was younger. My dad passed away from a freak accident as well. So this book really spoke to me on a lot of different levels and it was kind of crazy! I swear I wondered if I knew the author! But as a whole I cannot tell you how much I love this series and how much I wait for the next book! Incredibly addicting and I highly recommend!
I love RH and I even love slow burns a lot ...
First of all, I'm giving this a five star review because while I have issues with the story-line, they are probably MY issues and not with the quality of writing. I love RH and I even love slow burns a lot but the progress of this story is painful. It wouldn't be so bad if it was KU but it's not. It's not even a 2.99 book. It's a 5 dollar book with just straight character development. Don't get me wrong, I love the characters but I'm seriously ready for them to do something substantial. The effects of her attack are relatively realistic and I appreciate that, but now I'm starting to worry that it was a mistake for the author to put that scenario in her series because it's moved from a love story into a series about PSTD after kidnapping. It's a touching subject and one that needs to be addressed but it's not what I thought the books would be about. So okay, I've bought and read through all these books, not make them do something.
Best in the Series Yet! Loved All the New POVs
So, I'm one of THOSE obsessed fans of this series. I found it after book 2 came out and I joined the cult. ;) This book did NOT disappoint. I truly believe this is BL's best book yet. The original three were great. BL's characters and storytelling are unlike anyone else is the best possible way. However, the editing in the first three books left a bit to be desired. There were mistakes throughout. Nothing that mattered or really altered the meaning of a given sentence. I'm a bit of a grammar nazi, so these sorts of things jump out to me. They're natural. We all have typos, even after being proofed by multiple people. This book was practically error-free. Alright, time for a bit of a confession: This book is RH, so #whychoose. We all know Lexie's going to end up with all of the boys. But Ethan has always been my favorite. As a definite audiophile like Lexie, his musical ability, affinity to monochromatic attire, and honesty with his emotions, Ethan has always had a special draw for me. So this book focuses mostly on Ethan (and by extension Isaac, though it seems he's going to get his own book later). There is SO much you learn in this book. The knowledge shared about the "supernatural" side of things is MUCH more in this book than in the first 3. This book answers many questions about the twins past as well as the intricacies of Lexie's world. We also get MANY different points of view in this book. We get to read brief snippets from Asher, Ethan, Isaac, and even one from Rory. BL switches POVs very well. The guys' sections are short, but insightful. Without giving away too much or distracting from Lexie too much. All in all, definitely the best book of the series yet. I can't wait to see what BL comes out with next.
When you least expect it, you're elected
Lexie has dealt with abuse, trauma, ghosts, 5 overly protective guys and a smug witch. After Clay and her mom she's pretty much able to handle anything, right? Except everything just keeps piling on. No sleep, Sophie is ready to cross, she keeps having flashbacks, Tara is alternating between sympathetic and diabolical, and she still has to tell the twins that their sister is the one haunting their house. Can she at least tag in another player to help in this challenge?? Spoilers ahead. Lexie is recovering from Clay. Therapy is helping. So is Hades. Rory feels more like family again. You can really feel him trying to bond. Tara, well... You can't tell with her. She's noticing more, about Lexie and how Rory reacts to her. Add that to the fact that she's friends with the 2 guys she has a crush on and it gets volatile. I enjoyed the scene with Jessica. Not for the violence, but hopefully because it will shake her up. We keep getting these teasing hints at the past that explain some things, but lead to more questions, too. I like the mystery. This book was less angst and more healing. Learning to forgive, let people not just be in your life but be part of your life.
Draaaaamaaaaaa!!
Lots of depression comes out to play in this one. Lexie tries to deal with her ghost problems herself and is confused about all the attention and attraction btwn her and the guys. She finally tells Isaac and Ethan about Sophie, who dont take it well. Isaac is even more out of control. Zeke is dealing with his guilt after the attack by Clay on Lexie. Miles is dealing with being in his house alone. Asher tries to deal with his sister Jessica and his dad is starting to come into play. Tara has mood swings btwn nice and mean. Lexie deals with vice principal, and bully, Mrs. Weaver. She also comes into new powers recently, scaring her, and almost dies getting jumped by another ghost. She comes to find out her life could be in danger from more than ghosts and Serena cant be trusted. ...*whew!*
The Love Hexagon is Gettin' Real
Whispers from the Dead heavily digs into two big problems: the overwhelming dead that are being drawn to Lexie & Sophie's readiness to move on through the Veil. I feel like Lexie had some real victories in books 2 & 3 in terms of learning more about her powers and finding a way to connect with the Veil/calm The Way. In book 4, we see that some new roadblocks are coming up in her way; there's just so many dead that it's starting to take a real toll on her life and her safety. The biggest thing that I disliked was that Lexie keeps the trouble she's having from the guys. It SEEMS like, by the end of the book, that she's ready to go ALL IN. For me, that's a relief. The idea of whether or not the guys will desert her is something that really plagues her, but they've already stood by her through so much that I really want to see her acknowledge and believe their loyalty & love for her. Brunnemer finally gives us the details of the twins' car accident and Sophie's death, and it's exactly as heartbreaking as I thought it would be. The entire story line about Sophie's moving on was well-written, and opens up so much more in terms of both plot and the twins' relationships with Lexie. We get a little closure, but there are also big wounds that are reopened and new ones left behind. There's a lot of dominoes that are going to fall from this. Whispers from the Dead also starts to amp up the tension between the guys and Lexie to the point where something has to happen soon. I cannot wait for the world's most awkward family meeting. With Lexie growing closer to each of the guys every day, and seeing new sides to them that get those butterflies fluttering, I'm expecting the next two books to be SO important. Personally, I am completely torn as to my favorite guys. Right now, I think Miles is still in the lead, but Whispers in the Dark gives Ethan a lot of spotlight that makes it impossible to not recognize why the sparks are starting to fly between him and our leading lady. Can't wait for what's next!!!
Gosh it just keeps getting better!!
This series just keeps getting better! My only complaint? That I need to wait for the next book!!! I am not a patient person!! LOL! This series is the true definition of a slow burn Reverse Harem series! The author is so very talented, developing her characters over the course of the last few books, as opposed to throwing their nature at you too suddenly!! Alexis is an amazing protagonist and heroine! She's equal parts feisty, confident, kick ass and independent; yet balanced perfectly by her fragile, self deprecating moments, this keeps her BELIEVABLE, it makes her so much more real and HONEST...you feel for her, and walk the journey along with her and her guys! The guys, oyyyyy where do I even begin?! :) You know an author has "gotten it right," when your favorite hero changes and moves from one guy to the next as books continue...until you realize that you DO NOT HAVE A FAVORITE, that they are all equally amazing and THAT is what makes reverse Harem romance work!!! They only truly work when you're equally invested in the heroine and heroes developing relationship with EACH guy! You know it's the right "equation" when each hero feels as if they are equally compatible with the heroine and that you'd be devastated if she chose only one, or even only two, lol. That the only way to have the series work is to have the heroine be in love and loved equally by all her guys! Now THAT is a true Reverse Harem!! BL Bruneman understands this dynamic, better still, she cultivates the relationships honestly, organically, they grow like a true plant would grow, from the small seeds, to the blossoming, and you become so psyched to see hat blossoming occur you're Impatient for he heroine to bring all the guys to the same point, to have them all UNDERSTAND what they all mean to her; that her love is TRUE LOVE, not just friend love, although having the friend dynamic makes for the best romantic love there is!!! Again, by far the best Reverse Harem series I've encountered (you know I'm all in when I can even ignore the grammatical issues that pop up here and there lol) I don't know how I'll last until book 4!! The full book 4! My only hope...that since 3.5 was shorter, that she'll release 4 sooner!! Like, uhm, next month? ;) please please pretty please, I'm prepared to beg here!! LOL! Don't be a doubter!! READ THIS SERIES, and get prepared to fall in love with Alexis and her amazingly dreamy group of guys; Asher (love him! Hot, athletic, dominant and yet sensitive, so dreamy) Miles oh Miles, (smart and athletic is sooooo attractive!) Zeke (big and powerful and protective is incredible) Ethan (humorous and artistic is hot!) Isaac (sensitive is beautiful!) Alexis is one amazingly lucky (she deserves them all) girl!!!
A great addition to one of my favorite series's
I can't get enough of this series. I've never reread a series immediately after reading it until this, let alone reread the same book twice in the same day like I did with Whispers From The Dead today. This book was shorter in length than the previous 3 in the series, (6+ hours to read through compared to her usual 12+), but it was exactly what the story needed to advance the storyline and help our main characters heal from the end of book 3. There is PTSD, and triggers for it that our heroine Lexie is dealing with, but she's creating a new normal and accepting that things are different and that it's OK. She's also getting over her abandonment issues, which had drug on long enough and she really needed to accept she has the best support system a girl could ever dream of. We get to see more of some characters we've seen less of in the previous books, and less of some who have been more dominant before now, which was good. This is a slow build up to a great RH romance, and the author is making sure we're all in love with the guys as equals. It's going to be epic when it all comes together. I love where the paranormal storyline is going. This book introduced more direction to it we can look forward to seeing in the upcoming books. It isn't scary enough that I've wanted to put my book in the freezer to take a break (that's a FRIENDS reference btw), but it's been enough to want to turn on another light in the room. The author is good enough to get that scary if she wanted to though, so we'll have to wait and see. We are dealing with ghosts here. I've only had one critique for this series, but less so in this book in particular, and that has been the line editing. It's never been bad enough that I want to stop reading it, I can usually skip over the error without much disruption to the flow. And, the author has gone back to make updates to fix those errors in the 1st book so far. I just think the use of the Oxford comma could be utilized a little better. At the end of someones dialogue when expressing how it came out for example, she'll say "he asked his voice concerned", like he's asking his voice to be concerned. This book hasn't been as big of an offender in instances like this, but there are a handful. Still, I've read a whole lot worse from other authors, and it's isn't enough of a writing sin to decrease my enjoyment of this series. Overall, I loved this new addition to a highly enjoyable series. It's one of my favorite book series ever, and I am a book lover.

This series is driving me nuts!!!!! I liked this book better bc it didn't read like an episode of Friends! Why was the situations the twins not handled to my liking! They ignored everyone then bam settled! What is up w that evil vice principal??? Thank God for Rory... poor Rory, why is he still not more involved? I still hate Tara and Ashers sister! It was a break to have Lexie struggle and trying to deal but in an so tired of her thinking the boys and Rory will leave her, they Won't! It was sweet when they redid the house so she wouldn't be upset. I feel like there is enough drama to be settled but then new stuff enters and its not really settled. Example, the ghosts cause physical harm to your friend, why would you bring said friend to a haunted hospital??Then, sheds creepy dark things and its like just don't go near there and they Won't hurt you enter those two annoying ghost hunters, I mean arrrgg! Deal w the veil, friends, Rory, Tara, there's enough plot to keep going just give us some growth and resolve!!!!

It's one of my favorite book series ever, and I am a book lover.
Nicole
YESYESYES I love this series so much!!
Book 4 of the Veil Diaries was a bit shorter than the others in the series, mostly dealing with Lexie recovering from the previous book and, now that the Veil is healing, getting Sophie to cross. This book dealt with a lot of problems that were very necessary to address. It is now April and Lexie is suffering from PTSD from the incidents that occurred four months earlier (this book jumps from January in Book 3 to April in this book). She makes progress and has some set backs, and also has to deal with some of the guys being angry and distant. On top of all of that she has angry ghosts demanding to be crossed over and some school faculty on her ass. Although it was a bit shorter than the other books in the series, Whispers from the Dead deals with a lot of issues and by the end, many of them are resolved. Lexie is still healing but she's done hiding and is coming out stronger than ever. Her growing crushes on the guys might be helping too :)! But now, after reading the first four books back to back within a few days, I'm stuck waiting who knows how long for book 5 (and the other 10 books that will supposedly be in the series)! PLEASE write fast B. L. Brunnemer because I NEED the next book in this series!!!!
Makes the ghosts go away
I truly enjoyed this series so far and to find out its a 15 book series...I was in love! The series is said to end with high school and will continue after into a new series! I can't wait! I have found another writer to adore! Ok now my review because this series sure as hell deserves one! I love each and every book cover in this series so far! I have only read books 1-4. I love Ethan,Issac, Miles, Asher, Zeke and Lexie! The characters feel like they are already family. I love each the scenes, thw atmosphere and the fun thw characters have. I also love that Lexie says whats on her mind with no regrets. I think that's what keeps me so interested in her character. And the fact that well hey if a book can make me laugh bout loud I'm all in! This is my new favorite author and I can't wait to see what happens next in this series! I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good love story in a nontraditional sense. Who seeks out ghosts and requires a minimum of every page to make you laugh or cry!
Amazing book!!!
Well, crap! I didn’t think The Veil Diaries series could get any better, but B.L. totally shut that down! This book was sad, happy, funny, sweet, mysterious, and even romantic!!! I love love loved how the guys took care of Lexie after she comes back from the hospital. I love her “never give up attitude” about everything and how she accomplished all the things she wanted. I was so so happy about Ethan getting his closure with Sophie and how he finally showed Lexie his feelings towards her a little at the end. I’m sad for Isaac and I hope Lexie can help fix the hole in his heart. I’m now starting to really not like Serena and I don’t think Lexie can trust her. I’m so so glad Lexie finally told the guys all the secrets she was holding onto. Tara is also another mystery that I hope we get some clues about soon. I can’t wait for more of this series and I need more of their relationship spice!!! One of the best reverse harem books or series I’ve ever read so far!
Awesome series A must read
One of the best story lines I have read in the past three years. I highly suggest this author to anyone. There maybe a few wrong word errors in her books, but her characters come to life and just draw the reader in. I can see many more books coming in this series, which is both a blessing and a curse for someone like me. I read 1 book a day and most books at the end of the week I cant remember. Her characters however always keep me wanting more and I hate to wait. I am a very impatient person. I look weekly to see if there is any update on when to expect her next book in the series. I only do that with three other writers. You wont be sorry reading this series and you too will fall in love with her characters. I was disappointed that neither she nor Ethan shared with the guys that she was able to take him into the Veil her. I would have liked to have scene that conversation before the June beginning of the next book. Considering this book took place in april
I enjoy reading Brunnemer's Veil Diaries
I enjoy reading Brunnemer's Veil Diaries, but I'm starting to find Lexie a little unbelievable, and it's not just cause she can see dead people. Spoiler Alerts: First off, the majority of this book attempts to show Lexi processing the events from book 3. She comes across as really unable to move past the trauma of the attack and relies heavily on her "guys" to get her through moment by moment. It seems really strange to me that Brunnermer has portrayed her as being so stuck. Also, while we were looking for the big follow up from the Zeke kiss in the last book, she can't even hug Zeke because it causes flashbacks. I am not a big fan of the reverse harrem novels that seem to be so popular lately, but Brunnemer has done a great job creating unique and believable relationships both between the "guys" and Lexie. However, this installment seemed less pushing on those boundaries..and more about wrapping up Sophie, and more about the Necromancy (but still not really explaining much). I feel like this book has turned me off of this series a bit.
Omg
Omg, I just binged this whole series and of course there's still more to the series. I need so much more I'm dying! On the other hand, I'm thrilled there's more. I need everyone to come clean about there feelings and I totally need more smoochie scenes. As a practicing witch, I'd love to offer magical insight during the writing process. For example, remember that Rohan wood is good for spiritual protection and purging of poltergeists. Or carrying graveyard. A gris-gris bag can be used for protection depending on its contains as well as religious symbols, so long as they have significance to the wearer. As Lexie is a modern girl, perhaps she could look into online groups of other "witches" or connect with another "sensitive" person (e.g. an actual psychic). Of course, I'm sure the guys' connection with her will play a role in the future. Excellent series and I can't wait for more!
Can't get enough of this series!
Insanely slow burn reverse harem, but it’s honestly probably my favorite one out there. Everything about it is so well executed, and the author perfectly pulls the “will they, won’t they” vibe. This is one of those series I can (and have, let’s be honest lol) easily read more than once without getting bored. There is definitely more progression in the relationship between Lexie and her guys, but I really love how the book focuses way more on the story’s progression rather than on Lexie being intimate with anyone. In addition, there are great segments which deal with Lexie’s PTSD and just how important it is to let a person heal at their own pace. Really, I think I’ve found similar messages in each of the Veil Diaries books depending on the situation that Lexie and her guys are in. I seriously can’t get enough of this series, it is phenomenal!
This book is amazing 😉
I love how the way this book is written especially on the healing process of Lexie. It showed that she's getting back her life in her own pace and that's really inspiring for those who also experienced traumatic events in their lives. I also like the idea of having the guys' POV every now and then. It's very interesting to read. I really like to know what the guys think sometimes that's why I love reading these POVs. I like the balance of the human and non-human scenes here like how Lexie deals with Jessica and Tara then she deals with all of the ghosts in town. I also love how Lexie and the guys relationships developed in this book and hope to read more on their relationships. I'm curious on what will happen once the guys know that each of them like Lexie and how Lexie will deal on this. I just hope that Lexie and the guys will always stay together. I'm rooting for them.
You Need to Read This Novel ASAP!
This series is just so amazing. Whispers from the Dead is book 4 -- but according to the author is more like a 3.5 -- so be prepared for a little of a shorter plot line and length. I LOVED it as I do all of BL Brunnemer's other novels in the series and can't wait until numero 5 is released -- or would it be four? -- anyways, I already know I'm going to love it. The characters are developing more and more and so too are the relationships. This is where I internally scream because finally there is a little bit of steam in this novel from some of my favorite characters. I know, I know *gasp* do one of the boys finally make a move? Or does someone unexpected enter the plot? I'm not telling because this is a book you want to experience for yourself because the writing will transport you into this world full of spirits and hot guys. Seriously people, if you aren't devouring this series you are doing something wrong!
Laughed...cried....wishing for more
I love this series. I want more as soon as possible. However, this book...I felt that it was rushed. I know the author said it would be less pages compared to her previous books but I felt like there was a lot missing with Ethan's story. SPOILER ALERT: we hear about the twin's sister in the 2nd book, and more about her in the 3rd book then this book...BAM time for her to crossover? Even though I knew it was coming I still felt like this was like "oh okay that storyline is done moving on". However, the author did a great job in writing about PTSD on Lexie and even Zeke. It is NOT something someone can just "get over" it is NOT something with a time line; it is a very serious situation that many people face and I am glad Lexie has support with her friends, Rory and Hades. Very well written and my eyes teared up a few times. Also, this is the first time I actually was scared reading a scene...all I am going to say is what Lexie saw at the hospital...that freaked me out and that is saying something since I only get scared reading a book if Stephen King wrote it. Even though this book was short and again, I felt rushed, I still laughed, cried and loved everything about this series. I cannot wait for more! Recommed this series
LOVE THIS SERIES
Lexie is still recovering from her attack and having flashback issues but the guys and Hades are there for her ever step of the way! That Vice Principal needs to be fired! I really do not like that woman! Anyway, carrying on, the twin's sister is ready to crossover but to do that she has to tell them that the ghost in their house is their dead baby sister so Ethan won't pull her back here again. I hated having Ethan and Isaac mad at her especially when she is dealing with so much already. I know why she is trying to keep the guys away from all the dead stuff she deals with but on top of everything else, it's just to much and losing any of the guy could break her at this point. I am so glad that the book ended with the twins and Lexie being in a good place! Ready for book 5!
Another amazing hit from B.L.!
It's just not possible for B.L. to write a bad book. Just. Not. Possible. The Veil Diaries continues to be the most kick ass Paranormal RH I have ever read. Scratch that, it's quickly becoming the most kick ass series I have ever read. B.L.'s development of Lexie and all the guys is just phenomenal. I have read many RH before and there's always a guy or two that have just grated on my nerves, but B.L. just takes the cake. She can make you love someone or hate their guts, and she's especially great at making you forget the characters are fiction and aren't real. Be prepared to go on an emotional roller coaster as Lexie deals with her PTSD, her changing relationships with the guys, and keeping up with the persistent dead. My review is over now, because i must get on with my reread (yes already) of this amazing book.
Amazing as Usual!!
Man this series is just so very good, I can't do it justice. The pacing of the story is perfect without dragging things out, it's just so refreshing. Lexie is one of my favorite MFC and she continues to "keep it real" in this book as well. Love that I got to read more from the guys POV's. Wanted to smash Serena's head into a brick wall, satisfying to see that Sophie finally got cross over and while I loved the kiss with Ethan and Lexie, I absolutely adored the moment with Zeke and Lexie hugging...thank you BL for putting us out of our misery instead of dragging that problem out. This series is the best series to read if wanting to dip your toe into the RH genre, I'd recommend this series 100%!! June can't get her soon enough for the next one to be released.
If you don't have time to read anything else, then read these books! You will be glad you sacrificed the sleep!
B.L. Brunnemer is hands down my favorite author. I am not a writer so I am sure I will not do her books justice. Her books will make you laugh, cry, swoon, righteously pissed, and fall in love. Her richly written characters make you never want to leave the lives of the characters she has brought to life. Even if you are not into paranormal or you don't usually like RH books, you will fall in love with Lexi and the boys and root for them all the way. Sometimes people who have lived through the sh!t storm that life can be, can help you find your way through it to the beauty on the other side! It will make you want to fight the good fight and wish you had 5 amazing friends to go to war with you!
Fantastic
Lexie and the boys don't disappoint in this book. She's dealing with the aftermath of the kidnapping and beating she received at the end of book 3. Zeke and the twins have their own issues to work out as well. I did have a few tears escape once or twice because I was drawn in so much, my heart just broke for everyone. I still love Hades, he's quite the character. I wanted to punch Issac and Ethan a few times. I'm even more in live with Miles, especially since the swim meet. hubba hubba. I felt like Asher took a bit of a backseat in this one, which is ok. The guys all need equal time. And my gawd, Ethan just makes my panties melt off. It was a great continuation of the storyline, I loved being able to get a variety of POVs in this book too. I'm excited for the next book in the series.
Whispers from the dead book 4
Wow what a story it was so exciting. I found myself laughing and toward the end of the book I was crying then I was laughing again. I can't get enough of these adventures. My husband asked me how many more stories in the series. I said I didn't know I was too busy reading them one after the other to count them. Lol one of many things I liked about these stories was that there was no sex in them so far. Don't get me wrong there is some cussing in these books which didn't bother me at all. But it was a nice change that the stories were so good that you didn't need sex to keep you interested. I can't wait to check out the rest of the series.
Loved it! With every book the story just gets better!
B.l. brunnemer creates works of hot sexy art! Sexy art that can be read over and over again, and it never gets old, boring or becomes old news. I love her choice of characters, how they all blend and mix together. I love how each book has new adventures while still having the same main goals. If you like RH genre then this is a series for you, hell even if your on the fence about it this is a good series to start with the burn is slow and tantalizing, while still making those of us who are eager for this genre crazy, and the scenes she creates are just mouth watering... I mean unless I was the only one salivating reading some of these scenes. ❤❤❤
An author who doesn't look away
There are some people who say they dont like this book or the PTSD that some characters are dealing with is too much. Personally I think B.L. did a great job on not only showing her characters dealing with but some of them healing their traumas. PTSD isn't a walk in the park, it isn't something you can "get over" it is a painful process and takes time. In work with veterans and I have had to crawl through the grass due to one client having a flashback to Vietnam. I love how B.L. actually takes us through this painful journey and still comes out with a brighter ending. Not many can do that. Thanks for being an author that brings to light the difficulties people that are dealing with PTSD and their healing!
Another good book.
Even though the book was smaller, it was still a well rounded story that didn't leave me bereft. of course I wanted more, I always do with a book series. There are things I wanted to see happen that didn't, and at times I felt the pace was slow, but for the most part it was a fulfilling story that had me laughing crying and jumping for joy. It was thoughtfully written both in plot and character development, things were cleared up just as the mystery intensified. Can't wait for the next book!
Happy Dance!
I remember counting the days till book 3 came out, and I was a bit more patient for this one. :) I don't know how BL does it, but these books are addictive. Reading this one for the first time, I would read the page, then read it again before going to the next page. Ridiculous, right?! Loves: The POV's, maybe we'll stop begging for more? Doubt it! Love the greater contact between characters… more everything! Can't say too much else otherwise there would be pages of spoilers, but it's all awesome. Give these a try if you're having a bad day… good day… want funny… want something that intrigues and builds. Worth it & more!
Love this series!!!
I would highly recommend reading the series. I am obsessed?!! B.L. Brunnemer is just an amazing author! This series is addicting, n has u on the edge of ur seat. I just finished whispers from the dead. N its just as amazing as the others. More POV from the guys, which I personally loved! Now I'm having a book hang over cuz I just want more of this story. Can't wait for the next book to come out. Now I'm gonna stalk her on fb. Which if u don't already u really should. That way u know when the books she writes comes out. And she talks to you! Yep a whole group of amazing writers actually want to know what the readers think. Amazing huh? Like I said she is an amazing author.
I fell in love with the series because of its main character
I will try to be vague in an effort to not give away spoilers. I fell in love with the series because of its main character. Her kind yet strong and sarcastic attitude pulled me in. That combined with a believable, engaging and captivating storyline easily made this one of my favorite series (which actually means a lot given that I read at least a book a day). Her characters nicely compliment each other, while not being perfect in the sense that they each have their own struggles to deal with which just makes you love them more, especially because they act like actual people. A lot of stories feel forced because the characters are made to react in ways that aren't completely realistic in real life to fit the storyline and the speed at which the author wishes the story to progress but that is not the case in this story. B. L. Brunnemer allows the story to progress at its own pace which in turn allows the characters to react realistically and just makes me love the series more.
Phenomenal continuation of the series!
BL Brunnemer never ceases to amaze me. Her books are so captivating and well thought out. Every book has been better than the last, whether it be because of her ever improving writing or the pace that she has taken with her characters and their relationships. The continued growth of the main character, Alexis Delaney, and her guys is sincere and heartwarming. And the paranormal aspect of the series never fails to keep me on my toes trying to guess what could possibly happen next. This book is an outstanding continuation of the series thus far and will easily leave readers wanting more. I recommend all the readers who are brand new to the series and would like to read this amazing book to start from the very beginning at "Trying To Live With The Dead". You will not be disappointed.✌🏾❤️
The feels!
I'm not even sure where to start! I had skipped over the first book a few times thinking I wouldn't like it. What kept throwing me off was the reverse harem. I had never read any. I finally gave in, thinking I would at least like the paranormal aspect. I'm so glad I gave in! I love each of the guys, I want to pluck them from the pages and make them my own. Book 4, or actually it's 3.5, contains POVs from each of the guys & her uncle. I loved getting glimpses into each of them. Several times in this book, I was holding back tears, while a couple of times I actually laughed out loud. I cannot wait for the rest of this series. Thank you BL!!!
These books just get better with each installment
Another home run in the Veil Diaries series. These books just get better with each installment. The reader is really going on a journey with Lexie, watching her go from a hurt, scared person to someone that is embracing her life and learning that there are good people in the world. The paranormal aspect keeps the books very interesting and moving forward while the budding reverse harem romance provides a lot of fodder for addicting scenes. While this particular book in the series is a fair bit shorter than the others it is still very well done and every bit as addicting as the previous three. I admire BL Brunnemer's decision to write the story she wanted to write and not be a slave to a word count.
Exceeded my already high expectations!!
I LOVED this book! It was a shorter book than the others which we were warned about ahead of time but I honestly think it was still the length of a normal book so I was pleasantly surprised by that! BL also added various POVs throughout the book which I thought were perfectly done. They helped me understand what was going on with the other characters (and satisfied my curiosity) but didn’t steal the focus from Lexie’s story since they weren’t entire chapters. I would love to see that continue throughout the series. I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store for Lexie and her guys :) I just keep falling more in love with them with each book!
Still Loving It
I'm still loving the series. Lexie's skills are growing and everyone's feelings are growing, too. For the shortest book of the series, a lot still happens. I wish Tara would come around. Lexie makes an effort and when you think the relationship will improve, Tara turns back into a raging bitch. She finally knows about the ghost thing, but I doubt that will get her to come around. Mostly, this book was about healing. After the last book, lots of healing was needed. I'm feeling pretty proud of the characters, but Isaac is totally gonna need some TLC in the next book.
AMAZING WELL WORTH IT
Absolutely love the series and was so excited for this book and it did not disappoint me. I was concerned about it being a shorter book but after reading it I honestly did not even notice. I loved the that the guys had more POV’s actually in the book. It made the book so much more than expected. Even though it was shorter being able to have insight into the guys thoughts as the book progressed was an absolute treat. The emotions this book provoked while reading it made me feel as if these characters were real and I felt their struggles right along with them. Over all this author is amazing and I recommend buying this book you will not be disappointed
Sign me up for the next release :)
There isn't many books that I'll stay up to read when they release at midnight (I'm not as young as I used to be) but this was one them and I'm so glad I did! We were warned that it would be much shorter compared to previous books but I was pleasantly surprised with its length, it was longer then what I was thought it would be. I didn't think I could love the characters more than I already did but I was totally wrong. The characters feel real, they have weaknesses and hardships that they work through. I loved the emotional development and the hint of possessiveness!
characters are awesome and you can't help to pick your favorite and ...
As with the first three book in The Veil Diaries series, you can put it down and before you know, it have finished it and are sitting and waiting for the next in the series...... it is a special writing that can keep a series interesting beyond three books, but B. L. Brunnemer does it and I can't wait for book five ............ characters are awesome and you can't help to pick your favorite and can't wait to see what they will or what will happen next ..... love the real life with the other worldiness (if that's a word)............. can't say enough about this series............. you have, have, have to give it a read....
Amazing as always.
I'm so happy to have been back in the world of Lexi and her guys. I missed them so much! This book was a little on the sadder side as Sophie is ready to cross and we have to tell Ethan and Issaic. Broke. My. Heart. I love how we got so many different POV in this one. We even got one from Rory. This book leaves me incredibly worried about one of our characters and I'm dying to know what's going to happen next. As always, yes this is a slow build. We don't have sexy times but man, the story and the relationships we are building are just so good. Such an amazing series and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Amazing!!!
This series is addicting. This book is just as awesome as the first three. B.L. Brunnemer tells such a great story I just fall in to this world she creates. When I’m reading it all my stress and worries just fade away. Her characters are so well developed that I feel all the emotions they feel. The stories of each of her books draw me in and my heart and mind are both begging for it not to end. But unfortunately they have to. Each book keeps you coming back for more without nasty cliffhangers thank goodness because I can barely wait for the next book an way.
Read this book! Or series of you haven't started it yet!
I am so in love with this series! I adore these characters and I get so many feels reading these books! It truly takes something special to get me emotional invested in a book and it's characters and no one does it better than B. L. I ran the gamut of emotions reading this book. I was so angry at times I wanted to punch certain characters and the next moment I'm laughing at some silly bit. I shed tears and shared heartache with characters that seem like friends because of B. L.'s ability to bring them to life. Please, do yourself a favor, read this book or series if you haven't started it yet!
Seriously this series hooks you in
In this book Lexie is trying to heal from everything that happened to her in book 3. She is trying to get back to normal or find a new normal. In this one we hear from the guys point of view a few times which I really like, it adds to the book. Everything Lexie goes through with the guys builds a stronger relationship with them. We still get some drama and still a lot of emotions and that's why I love this series. Each book provides so much for the reader, it keeps you interested.
Loved it!
Book 4 really delivers a great continuation of the story. Lexi starts to make some progress, I loved the guys POV in the book and Tara.. well she has the capacity to turn into a nice person but she's not there yet. Overall it has a great flow, a few things get resolved. My only complaint would be a little more heat. I know it's YA but just a little bit more. I mean she's laying on top of Miles all night and we get nothing about how they feel about it. It's an amazing book, I really love the series and the characters. This book is packed with emotion and you just don't want it to end.
good book
It feels like I just started crying his book and I was done. I just did not stop reading. Lexi’s love life is heating up a little. It will be interesting to see where it goes. I loved the ending. Good writer
Breathless and speechless
I am left breathless and speechless as always with this author's writing. I stumbled across her in one of my reverse harem groups asking for readers to try out her first book before being published. My life changed that day forward! I am so in love with the all the characters in this series and starving for more! Whispers from the dead made me chew my nails off, laugh, cry, and scream at some scenes. If you love a potty mouth red head who has five hot guys as a best friends, a neapolitan mastiff as per pet, did I say she sees dead people? Then this series is for you!
Who do you call?
Lexie of course! This book is about the continuing trials and tribulations of Lexie and her guys. The dead are getting more pushy and demanding not to mention growing in numbers. Lexie is still struggling with the after effects of her kidnapping and torture. You need to have tissues at the ready as you read this story, there are several poignant of between Lexie and the guys, especially Ethan and Issac. I know that there are numerous readers waiting anxiously for the next book in this series as am I. Enjoy! 💜💙💛💚
One word, Damn!!!
I can't wait for the next book in the series. It just keeps getting better each time. Lexie and the boys' bonds seems to getting more intense as time goes by. This book was mostly about gaining her confidence back and how she is growing in power. Also, we learn more about the twins sister, Sophie. Lexie's feelings are now starting to come back for the guys as well as including another one, which makes me want to jump up and down, and go "awww". B.L. Brunnemer is an amazing author, so I can't wait to see what she has planned next for Lexie and the guys. 💙💚Zeke
I love this series!!
You’d think that the series would get dull or be the same repetitive stuff but we keep seeing more and more of each person and their past and what shaped them into who they are, as well as seeing them grow. I am devouring all of these books like they are the oxygen I need to breathe.
Emotional
I cried a majority of the time while reading this book. As usual, it was very well-written and I loved it just as much as I have loved the previous books from the series. I am so excited for the next book. This book is shorter than Books 1-3, but you will not be disappointed. There are more POVs from the other main characters, which instead of being distracting, adds so much more depth to the heavy stuff Lexie & gang tackle this book.
Impeccible
Every book that I read from this series I'm never able to put down. The other books I had to buy the audio version so that while I'm at work I can listen without getting yelled at for reading. The story just sucks you in and you have to keep reading to find out what happened next. The characters are phenomenal and I'm in love with each one. I love the different mental issues that they touch on which truly brings the story to life and brings depth and to each character, how they deal with it, and their growth to having "a normal life." Absolutely impeccable
Love this series
Keeps getting better. Sometimes when you read a series, the storyline drags or seems repetitive; not so with Veil Diaries! I'm still invested in the characters, begging the author for more books, and can't wait for more in Lexie's story. Maybe I stay interested because there's so much going on: with her seeing ghosts, her PTSD, her various friendships with the guys, Rory and Tara (see there's a lot!). Throw in great writing from BL Brunnemer and this series continues to be a much anticipated one click purchase for me:)
Great, but...
This book was necessary, albeit still leaving the reader wanting more. It was needed to understand the effects of the abduction and trauma and see Lexie work through it. Same with the guys to understand her and continue to work through their own issues and feelings. The waters are still murky as to the unrequited romantic interests, which continues to be frustrating. The writing was fantastic as usual, and I loved that new challenges have been added to the story and will be explored more in the next book!
Bleeping Amazeballs.
So bloody perfect. Everything about this book was just amazing. Without giving any spoilers, all I can say is the alternating POV's were everything I was waiting for and when Lexie goes for a swim, Isaac was the perfect person to be there. Loved seeing more of Ethan but I will say, for being Ethan's story, we didn't get too much of him. I guess I was expecting more Ethan time. But either way, still a damn good book. Can't wait for the next one!
Wow
I loved this book! I am so excited about watching. The changes in Lexie and getting to know her boys better. I cannot wait until the next one! Great job to this awesome author. If you are into some teenage angst, paranormal and high school crushes read this series. You will definitely not be disappointed! I am so glad I finally had a chance to read this one!! Morherhood, being a wife, teaching and life seemed to get in the way of my rereading and finally getting to this one.
Finally!!
This is my first time rating a book for anyone and all I can say is that I love these books so much I fangirl squealed when I saw it on my kindle this morning. I absolutely love Lexie and all the things she goes through with the guys. Her sassy attitude and how she is starting to really work through the stuff she suffered. I always enjoy these books so much and can't help but fall in love with these characters even more as each book comes in. Thank you so much for these books! Everyone who loves ghosts a sassy redhead and hot guys definitely needs to buy these.
Yet another BRILLIANT read...
As usual with this series I couldn't put it down.... I sped right through as I just HAD to see what happened with the twins little sister Sophie. If you haven't read at least book 1 in this series then I HIGHLY suggest you do. This is one of those series that just never gets old no matter how many times you read it. Put up your feet and enjoy! I dare you not to fall madly in love with this motley crew of characters! I already CANNOT WAIT for the next amazing installment!!!!
Complex
We are getting closer to see what her abilities can do. I like the guys so to see them more emotional really helped with the romantic side of the story. I am also understanding what emotional ties the boys have for each other and Lexie. I'm glad Lexie is getting help from the boys. Ultimately there is nothing I can write that would help you in determining whether this is good or not. To each their own and I just say make your own determination.
It was amazing like always
What can I really say? It was amazing like always! I will say that this one felt a bit more serious though. There was a lot of group turmoil happening and I know that a lot of people were having an issue with it but I thought it was realistic and a great plot development. This is a slow-burning RH so there needs to be these kinds of conflicts where they come back stronger in order to face their feelings. I love where this series is heading and I CANT WAIT for the next one!
What’s happening?!
Parental units, feel free to recommend this one to your teens and other parents. It has a paranormal vibe but it’s all in good taste as is the teen angst romance throughout.
Another home run for BL
I was kinda pissed it was over so fast. Now I have to go back to boom 1 and read all 3.5 in a row so I can keep the timeline going. BL delivers on emotion, surprise, and heart thumping attraction. If you haven't started the series, what is wrong with you? Yes, they are in high school, but a good story will transcend all mental barriers you think you may have. I was entranced for the entire 3 hours it took me to finish. Now when is book 4 coming?
Fabulous.
As always B.L. writes an amazing story. I love the characters and the storyline in this series and I cannot wait to see where she goes with it. But not only is she an amazing writer and storyteller, B.L. knows how to write hard stuff. I have read so many books about characters who have faced assault but none of them capture as well as she did, the aftermath and how it affects not only the victim but the loved ones as well. Well done, B.L.
Join the following!!
I looooovvveee this series!!! BL is amazing and her characters are kickass. The books bring you into a world that you never want to leave because let's be honest; Zeke, Asher, Miles, Ethan and Isaac are sexy and amazing. Plus, Lexie is a badass and I love when she uses her wit and sarcasm along with some extra intimidation in the form of Hades and Zeke to put people in their place. Xoxoxo the wait is now on for book 5. Read this book. You'll love it. Trust me.
Brunnemer does an excellent job of illustrating how characters deal with their trauma ...
Whispers from the dead really blew me away. For being a shorter book compared to the other three in the series, it showed depth and allowed us to see inside the character's minds through various different POVs. I think a common theme with this book and will continue to be an important part of the series is recovering from trauma. B.L. Brunnemer does an excellent job of illustrating how characters deal with their trauma in different ways and how they make progress moving forward. One of my favorite things she writes about is not being alone in dealing with it. There is always a support system which is demonstrated wonderfully in this book. Couldn't have written a better book to show the depth of the characters and really get into some of the nitty gritty past that was only hinted at before!
Wow, this deserves way more stars!
This latest book is so full of emotion it's hard to describe. The author starts you on an emotional rollercoaster that last the entire book. I don't want to say anymore or give anything away but to me it's the best of the series. As a matter of fact, her books just continue to grow and become stronger. That is a rare thing in my opinion. Now, I'm gonna dry my eyes, take a breath and have no luck trying to find something new to read.
Veiled Kisses
Maybe I'm just impatient. This series is moving so slowly to me. I understand build up and world building but by the fourth book the characters shouldn't have to be described all the dang time. I skip over most of it. And I still enjoy reading it. And I will be glad if they all stop asking each of everything is ok... is that what teens do now? Mad props with how Rory handled that Principal.
Beautifully Broken
I love this series! I have fallen in love with each of the main characters and seriously #whychoose! Lexie's personality is amazing and to see her heal from her traumatic experience in this book made her even more endearing. Plus getting to know each of her guys more and see things through thier POV was fantastic. This book had my devouring each page and dreading seeing it end. I can't wait to see how issacs character develops as we now know why he is struggling so much. With it all I am more curious about the Veil and how Lexie will continue to tackle it's mysteries. B.L. Brunnemer has a dedicated reader for her series in me.
Can't wait for the next!!!
it was awesome, i had been waiting for this book for almost 5 months. and it did not disapoint. i cannot wait for the next one to come out. i have bought them all and i have read the first 3 at least 15 times each. I have recomended this book to everyone who listens. by the way it was good enough that i did not put it down and read it in one sitting. Please write more and let us know when the next one will be out. :)
Damn good
I consider myself luckier since I found this series with a couple books to this day out. And maaaaaaan I am dying here for the next one already. Even if it's a young adult book -which I am waaaaaaay not- I still adore the whole story. That's why probably hoping she will end up with all of them guys openly. Characters are really entertaining and there's no falseness to their pain. Love it
Yes Queen Yes!!!!
This book was the perfect addiction...oh um addition even. I loved it so much! I just can't say enough about how delicious it was without giving away spoilers, so I'll zip the lip. But I do love how with each book each character gets more depth and layers added to make a more complete and complex character and story. I'm already panting for book 5! Can we say Summer is coming!?
love it.
This is the slowest burn I have ever read, surprisingly I’m good with it. It fits the narrative, it fits the characters and I’m here for it.
These lovable fools!
Why can't our five get their shit together? Zeke and Lexie are heading in the right direction, but there's still distance because they won't admit what it is that they feel. I know it's hard. Believe me, I know. This goes for all of them in the group. They need to be honest with each other and themselves. Otherwise, it's been an amazing ride! ❤
Another amazing chapter in the Veil Diaries Series
Another amazing book in the Veil Diaries Series. BL once again writes a book that enraptures the reader. The book was shorter than the rest, but the author was point-blank blunt about that before the book's release date was even announced. The story line this time focused more on the twins and I could not have been happier about that. Love me some Isaac and Ethan. Such a good book and looking forward to more!
My favorite so far!
Where to start? This series is my number one, my absolute favorite. It's my go to recommendation for those who ask for a good book to read. Whispers From the Dead is an amazing continuation of Lexie's story. Prepare to be SHOOK, grab a box of tissues and a glass of wine. If you're unsure, I promise you won't regret this purchase. Make sure you start with book 1!
Another wonderful installment
This one starts out a little slow, and is the hardest of the current books for me to read. Poor Lexie is, for good reason, very down trodden. Life just keeps kicking her in the teeth. But her fire's there. It's trying to come back, and there's hope yet. Whispers was rough for all the characters, and was a very emotional book all around, especially dealing with loss and guilt.
Addicting!
The Veil Diaries is amazing, favorite read of 2017 by far. Lexi is the perfect leading lady, shes a sassy smart ass badass chick who can be vulnerable without being whiny like most YA/NA heroines. All the men are perfect!! The character development is to die for and the building anticipation for their future relationship is perfect. This author is going places, eagerly awaiting the next installment!
Oh wow!
I can't say enough how much I love this series! B.L Brunnemer, you have reached me with every single book in this series, but this one.... You made smile, you made me laugh (when Lexie punched Jessica for one great example) and you made me cry! Issac & Ethan and their love for their little sister, oh, that broke my heart, and you told it beautifully! I absolutely can not wait for next book!!
Fantastic read!!!
This book is go good. They keep getting better and better. The emotional portrayed were intense but so well done. The way all the relationships in the book have grown throughout the series is so well done. I can't say enough about how much I have enjoyed this book. Can't wait for the next one!!
Wonderful!!!!!
There is really something awesome about a slow burn RH. I know I get impatient and want the sexy times to hurry up, but it is really nice to watch the love and intimacy grow between all the characters. I fall in love a little more with all of them every time I read these books. Thanks BL Brunnemer for sharing your words with us 💕💕
Awesome
I don't know what to say other than this is another great book I love the characters I actually care and love about all of them I get so into my books, I am so going to probably read this book over again and over her books are amazing I love how she gives perspective to all the other characters I'm looking forward to the next book it was amazing
Yay!!
Okay so my fix isn't 100% saitated. That is only because with this series it never is. I am extremely happy with the steps Lexie is taking in the direction of her relationship with the guys! Keep up the good work ;) and can I say holy poops when it come to Ethan!!! Thank goodness the ball is finally starting to roll, I seriously can't wait for the next installment in my favorite series.
So good that any amount is never enough
The storyline and the personalities of the characters in this series will suck you into their paranormal world. Lexi and smoking got group of best guy friends seem to find themselves in interesting situation after situation. All the danger, will she/won't he and mystery makes putting this book down virtually impossible. I looking forward to seeing what's in store for Lexi he guys.
Beautiful, Heart-wrenching, and Riveting
BL has pulled off another masterpiece! I loved every page! It took all my expectations, met them, and then exceeded them. The heart, the sass, and the growth were all a pleasure to read. I got a fix for all my wonderful favorite characters and those cute moments are going to sustain me for months! Books like these are few and far between, and I can't wait to start rereading it!
Simply amazing!!
Worth every second of the wait since the last release in this series. I fall more in love with these characters with every word. And Ethan....wonderful, sneaky Ethan has completely moved out of the friend zone for me. Looking forward to the next book.. And the one after that.... And the one after that. Lol. Wonderful writing and characters worth loving. Never stop telling this story!
Just an update
This is my 10th time read the series since the 5th book was released. I just wanted to let everyone know that these books get better every time you read them! I'm always finding new bits of information or seeing foreshadowing that I missed before. These characters have become very dear to me and I love getting a glimpse of their lives.
Another Win for B.L. Brunnemer
I rarely give reviews, but I really liked this book. All of the books are wonderful and I've reread them multiples times. In this book, we see the aftermath of what happened to Lexie and how she deals with it all. We learn more about Ethan and Isaac and why Isaac behaves the way he does. I won't give anything away, except to tell you to read it. You'll want to start with the first book though.
More awesomeness!
I love this series. It has everything you want in a book and then some. I can't say enough about the characters and with their internal flaws they bring so much to this series. Flaws that bring them all closer and protective of each other. BL weaves an awesome and very unique tale that will have you coming back for re-reads and anxiously waiting on the next book.
Over to soon!
An awesome continuation of the Veil Diaries series. Lexie is starting to get back into her groove, but is still struggling. All of the guys are trying to work out their own issues in addition to the trauma caused by Lexie being hurt. It's tough, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, for most of them, probably, maybe...
Really hope the next one comes out soon!
If I'm so excited that I can't wait until the next release then why didn't I give the book 5 stars? Truthfully it was a great read, but I took a star off for a couple of reasons that lean more towards personal preference than anything truly wrong with the book. The last book ended with our heroine traumatized and trying to cope, and this book starts off four months later with her still trying to come to terms with it. While everyone copes, grieves, and deals with things in their own way I hate when an author has the mc acting normal hours or a day later because that in no way is real or relatable (especially hate the books that she gets raped or violated and then not only is she immediately ok but she is having sex hours later. To me it just trivializes what happened and those who have gone through something similar and worked so hard to get their lives back afterwards) so kudos to this author for showing the struggle to put the pieces of your life back together and the effort it takes. Though because of it this book was heavy and depressing at times. It would have been nice to have it balanced. Show the struggle but instead of the entire book it could have just as easily been half or 3/4. I would have liked a little more light and happiness and speaking of happiness....We come to my last slight issue. I get that this is a slow burn RH, but besides two instances I felt like the fire pretty much died out and at the end of the book you have hardly no growth in that department just several steps back which was frustrating. Like I said I'm glad she didn't go on like before or even feel like wanting a relationship because she needed time, but I guess I thought at least the last half or quarter would have shown some kind of growth in this department. We really needed some of that to even out the heaviness or at least I did. I felt awful for Zeke the entire book he was just barely there on the periphery and even the end all we got was a hug. Same thing with Ash and Miles just not to the same extent. It was like they were there but not really...just shadows of themselves. I got enough of that with Ally this book it would have been nice for the guys to be the life of the book since she was missing her fire and spark. Instead it fell flat in this department. Despite all that I have high hopes for the next book and hope that some real progress is made. I mean four books in with barely anything to show in the romantic department besides interest. This next book will start in June so another couple of months are going by and no one is making a move again? I just don't think that is very realistic to move forward then act like nothing happened for months at a time. Human nature to want connection and when both parties desire and act on it then nothing? I was hoping for more obviously and I really hope book five gives us some fire back both in a sassy Ally and with her guys. Sorry I got to ranting didn't I? Basically, this book is a solid read and a must read for those who love this series. Just don't go in expecting much romance or for that matter much romantic relationship development. There is some and you won't want to miss all the things that happen during this book. I had it pre-ordered so I didn't see any reviews beforehand, but if I had known to not expect much romance wise I would of enjoyed it more. Man those expectations will get you everytime. For those who haven't read the series yet it really is a great series with depth and heart in it and enough action happening to keep you on your toes. This may be a slow burning RH but the love and relationships that develop throughout the series are strong and complex and just a joy to read about. I love her Uncle Rory and how he not only took her in and under his wing but also the guys of course that was after running their names through the police database. Love it! He became a father figure that was missing in all their lives. Like leaving work to watch Miles championship swim meet, or letting them know they matter, to buying them gifts that are unique to them but then also ones that they all got for Christmas that he though a dad should provide, and to always going to bat for them when they need it. Definitely a great series.
Omg!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I freaking g loved this book so much. I laughed and I cried more than once. I feel so hu g over from the over load of emotions. This book hit me right in the feels. I loved every second of it. So e much needed happened in book 4.. start with book one read this series! You will not regret it. I need more of the boys and Lexie!
All the stars for this book!
This book is perfection!! I seriously laughed, cried, and cheered while reading it. So much happened in this book; friendships between Lexie and the guys are strengthened and tested, Lexie struggles to face her fears, and just a bit of romance throw in there for good measure! You won’t be able to put this down. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series!
She’s done it again...
This is the 3.5 installment of what is to be a long and complete story about a girl who can see the dead and the five amazing young men who help her navigate her terrifying path. If you’ve not read the first 3 get busy? BL has done it again! She has brought us a story full of emotion, love, humor and a captivating story that compels is to keep turning the page. Well done ma’am as always.
Another Win in the Veil Diaries Series!
This is another great book in the Veil Diaries Series. It expands on the story of Lexie and her guys. I know BL doesn't consider this a full book but it's still a very fulfilling part of the series. I feel like there was some good resolution of a couple issues from the previous book. Even through their trials you can still see the growth of the relationship of Lexie and her guys. And every book you learn new things about the guys that make you want to keep them for your own.
Man oh man
B.L. has done it again! I know this book was shorter than the others but it didn't feel that way. I feel in love with the twins even more in this book. Lexie is slowly (but not gouge your eyes out slow) healing and becoming her badass self again. Some issues from the previous book were resolved. The relationships seem to be growing and I can't wait for the next book!
Always a 1 click purchase for me
Loved it! Brunnemer has a map to readers hearts and she never gets lost. This series has everything you could ever hope for in a romance story. The characters are well rounded and well written. The chemistry between the guys and the MC is so vivid and real. I could go on forever about this exceptional read. But...I'll just stop here...lol
So much more
I binged this series in 2 days. I just want more! I was initially skeptical about this series because I was wanting more with Lexie and her guys, this last book did not disappoint! There was so much packed in this book I couldn’t put it down. Love all the guys, especially being able to get their POVs and really love Lexie. Such a brave, badass heroine.
Amazing!
Not that I expected anything less than an amazing book from B.L. Brunnemer, but this book was perfect. Lexie's journey is tough but as we all know she's a badass so she works through it as best she can. You will definitely feel every emotion under the rainbow with this book. I can't wait for the next one.
Read it all in one sitting
I have no clue why but I can't read any of her books without making sure I have time to read it all at once! You absolutely get wrapped up in the heart of the story and won't want out till it's over. Even then you will be second guessing everything and wanting to crawl back into it.
Powerful, Heartwrenching
I'm so happy I re-read the series before this came out because it deals so much with the fallout from the events of book 3. This is a very emotional chapter in the lives of Lexi and her guys. I love this series so much, even if my heart feels raw from all the feels, of the good and sad variety.
I love this series
This is the 4th installment of the Veil Diaries and BL Brunnemer never fails to impress me. It's a slow burn RH, but with very adult lifer choices having to be made. Lexie is amazingly strong and never gives up. With help from her best guys she is able to overcome her fears and move forward with her life. I cannot wait for the next book.
Wonderful continuation of Lexie’s journey
This was a wonderful continuation of Lexie’s journey - her recovery from the ordeal at the end of book 3 (spoilers so I won’t say what it was!) and her evolving relationship with her 5 guys. I loved the addition of the POV’s of the guys - Brunnemer really lets us get in their heads and see what they are thinking and feeling, especially about Lexie! Can’t wait for the next book to see how the relationships continue to progress as they all near graduation. Overall, I can’t say enough wonderful things about this book and the entire series - I now have to go read the entire thing again!
Love everything about this series!
This was a shorter book and it only increased my appetite for these books! I love this series. The characters are great and the plot is engaging. This is a slow burn reverse harem novel, which is only a plus to me but may not entice others. Some mild violence and horror themes. I absolutely recommend this book series to anyone.
BL quickly became one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints
I don't give 5 stars to just anyone! BL quickly became one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints! This series continues to wow me with how real and true the characters are. Her accurate portrayal of ptsd and panic attacks both hurts and warms my heart. These character make me cry, laugh, and cheer right along with them.
Good grief
I thought the last book had me teary eyed. I was dead wrong. I bawled like a baby during this one. As usual everything in this book was epic and I couldn’t put it down. Now onto the next one!
Another amazing book
I am most definitely addicted to this series, probably more than any other. Lexie and ethan kissing, dang. Makes me wish I could redo high school lol. Glad she can hug zeke, tara however needs a boot to her butt. Anyway, loved the book and read it in one night. Can't wait for the next! Please hurry.
Didn't disappointment
Loved this addition to the series. Stayed up til 4 in the morning to finish reading this. Just couldn't put it down. Couldn't have asks for anything better. Exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to reading next book. Lexi in a bikini around her guys😳. Can't wait to read that.
The greatness continues!
The wait felt like forever for this book (it wasn't lol) but coming off the last book, I needed to know what was going to happen and I was not disappointed! BL puts so much thought into each of the character's stories and makes us cry in the process. This book has some heartwrenching moments as well as silly. I loved seeing the progress Lexie was making with her recovery, as well as how each of the guys were helping her. Thanks for another fantastic book BL!
Whispers from 1 Reviewer
Love this series! Can't wait for the next book! Anyways back to the review, the PoVs for the guys and Rory are a new and a good interesting add. Yes, there are a litte couple of super minor wording errors meaning adding an "a" or deleting words when repeating. Overall, really addicting and entertaing series.
Please read this book, it's not to be missed.
The characters in the book are wonderful. You feel for them, relate to them. The characters themselves would be enough to make you love the story. Then there's the plot, it's interesting and keeps you involved. There's heat and mystery to the story , plus the paranormal edge. Great book. I recommend reading all 4 books.
Another Winner
BL Brunnemer has written another winner. I didn't want to put it down. This book was a little shorter than her previous books but in no way did that take away from the book. Of course I want more but I always do with this author. Mrs. Brunnemer please write book four as fast as you can. I have a feeling something big is coming.
Loved it!
That was a great addition I couldn’t stop reading and woke up at 3am to finish. The slow burn is killing me a little I need to know more now. I liked so many things but don’t want to give any spoilers. I loved you got more of the guys POV. Poor Isaac too! So great!
In heaven
I can’t gush enough over this series i has never read it before but always heard about it and now within a week I have caught up on all the books and I feel like I’ve been under a rock how did I miss these books and how long do I have to wait for the next one I swear I read this wayyyyy to fast I love it
Amaze balls!!!!!!
This book was amazing! BL Brunnemer just keeps getting better and better. Although this book was shorter than the others, it was filled with so much growth between the characters and growth for them as individuals. I’ve always been a huge Miles fan but after this book I think it’s a tie between them all now. #whychoose Seeing Lexie trying to move on after her kidnapping, and how the guys were dealing with it as well was amazing to see. They all grew so much closer in this book. I loved seeing how they were there for each other. I can’t wait for the next book!
Perfect series
This is my absolute favorite series right now. I love Alexis and all the guys.. Even DYLAN. The connection these characters have is nothing short of amazing (minus Dylan). Oh and I'm so excited to read the next book! Lexie is getting stronger and I heard things are starting to heat up :)
Early Birthday Present
Then waited a couple days to read it actually on my birthday. Best. Birthday. Present. Ever. Waiting those couple days was hard. However, waiting until the next book in the series is released is torture! Call me a masochist - the torture is worth it, each and every time. You will love this series, of that I'm a 100% convinced.
As amazing as ever!
I just can't get enough of bl brunnemer and the veil diaries series!! I have loved each of these books and anxiously wait for more to come out! I'm in love with each of these characters. Thank you thank you thank you for giving your readers these amazing books!
Great
Loving this series. My only complaint is this book was too short. However, it dealt with a lot of deeply emotionally issues and had me crying throughout. I'm so glad the next book is already out and I can jump right in.
no spoilers
I FLove this book. there are not enough words to articulate just how much i absolutely love this book and all these characters. i am not going to give specifics about this book because i feel like any would be a spoiler and i just don't do spoilers in my reviews.
Score
I liked seeing Lexie do some healing in this book, I also liked how she started to get some of her sassy self back. There wasn’t a lot of forward momentum in the relationship department, just enough to say something happens. Looking for ward to the next one.
POV
So happy that the others have been given a voice! Hope it continues and that the guys get even bigger spots as the story goes on. Much better then the CL Stone books, I think. A few editing and grammatical errors. Doesn't mess up the story too much.
So so so good!!
I love this series! The character and world building are amazeballs. I LOVED the insight we (readers) get into the twins in this book, and I loved Asher’s and Miles’ development in this book. So pretty much, I just love all the things. I bow to you, BL, you are a goddess. Never stop writing <3
Oh man... SO GOOD
Honestly, I didn’t think it possible, but I’m falling more and more in love with these characters!! There is so much depth and layers to things that keep you sucked in! Running to buy the next book and audiobook as well!
Loved it
I have been reading this series since it came out, and it keeps getting better. It was a bit shorter than the other books, but it still felt like a full installment while leaving you wanting more. I love how Lexie is dealing with her PTSD and her developing relationships with the boys.
Loved it!
Job well done. Book 4 offers enough resolve to move the story forward and adds enough questions to push the reader to try to put the puzzle together. I found it to be a great read and look forward to the next book. Start at the beginning if you have not done so but be warned you may enjoy it so much you start to try and beg for book 5.
I laughed, cried, squealed like a little girl and more...
This book was well worth the wait. I am just so excited and the stuff that happened omg....I need to read it again just because.....I just want to say thank you BL for giving me more precious...insert Gollum gif here...
Improved and Excellent
I love all the books in this series, but with this one the quality has improved greatly. There are little to no distracting grammar problems or typos. I now put this series in my top 5, maybe even 3! Keep up the wonderful writing, can't wait for the next book. Also, this was a nice longer length for a half book.
And she did it again
I was counting the days for the release of this book and it didn't disappoint. There is something about this story that just sucks you in and won't let go. The characters are all so real, flawed in believable ways and yet so perfect in believable ways. They make you want to go on their journey with them, grow with them, hell, just be with them. A truly fantastic read and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. A well deserved 5 stars, and a huge thank you to author for bringing these characters into my life.
Without a doubt amazing.
Yes this was a shorter book but soooooo many new story avenues opened up in this book. Hold onto your seat. You won't be able to put it down and even though you've devoured the pages you'll be begging for more.
I'm an addict and I need my next fix!
Nooo....where is the next book?! It's not out yet and I have to wait? Nooo! It's not fair! Gah, I freaking loved it and this series...I'm an addict and I am seriously gonna have withdrawals now. Amazing book and series...go clickity click clicking now, you won't regret it!
Love love love Lexie and the guys!
I absolutely loved this one. I am sad that I’m back to waiting for more but I feel like this book was totally worth the waiting! This series is one that you can just fall into and get lost from reality. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!!!
ANOTHER AWESOME BOOK
This series just keeps getting better and better! I cannot wait until the next book is out. The relationship s between the characters is developing wonderfully and I love all of them. The plot is getting better and better and each book is a page Turner. You will not be able to put this book down!!
Incredible
As always B.L Brunnemer did an amazing job. This series will make you laugh, cry, scream, and so much more. I will always recommend this series and book 4 was no exception. It was incredible and there were so many incredible moments.
Amazing 😉
What can I say.... it’s an awesome read. Awesome series and this continuation puts lots of thing to rest as well as brings in new material for potential new story lines. I can’t wait to see what the author goes with this. Can’t wait for Lexie to be with her guys all together :)
Awesome
This is one of the best series I’ve ever read. I love Lexi and her smexy guys! I’m always team Miles but since I don’t have to choose, I’ll take Zeke, Asher, Ethan, and Isaac too. Love the ghost concept and how the mystery is unraveling. Already dying for more! Five glittery stars!
Holy cow
Omw I am so mad I couldn't put the book down now I've finished and now have to wait for the next one.... I didn't do so well waiting for this one now waiting again. I can't say anything and give anything away. I just hope it all come full circle completely. Waiting impatiently!!!!
Excellent installment.
I love this series so much! The characters are believable, situations can be repetitive, but it's not bad. A group of broken souls surviving together, learning about themselves in the process of Lexie's powers.
Great read!!!
I put off reading as long as I could, because I knew i was going to be on an emotional rollercoaster ride. With every installment, it just gets better. My only disappointment is the wait time for the next book. By the way, I'm team Lexie/Miles all the way!!!!
Love love love it
Okay first of all I want more. The book is amazing as always. Had a few sad moments because I couldn’t picture Lexie without her boys. Love that Ethan got some closure with his sister Sophia but will they be any consequence for bring Ethan to veil? I can’t wait for book 4.
Better and better
The character development in this series has been amazing. I loved getting more info on the twins. The relationship between all the characters is very well written and I particularly enjoyed all the different POVs given to us in this book. Can’t wait to see how the summer goes!
Heck ya, this book is awesome!
Holy crap! Why did this book end!!!!!!!!!!! This series is amazing! I adore Lexie and her guys!!! With each book it builds on the relationships they all share, and this book has topped them! We got more POVs, and I couldn’t be happier! I can’t wait for the next book!!!!
Yessssss!!!
Loved it!!!! It was an awesome book I can’t wait for the next one and what will happen next!! I loved zeke so much in this one!! The way all the guys are towards red is adorable! Hades is so protective too!! Love this series and I can’t wait for the next one

B.L. has hit a homerun with this 4th book! I absolutely love the changing point of view and hope this keeps going in book 5. I have already read it twice in the first 24 hours and am holding my breath until the next book! Thank you for keeping up the wonderful storyline, B.L.!
Where do we go from here?
I still liked the third book best. I do however appreciate the more intimate details provided about the boys. I had a lot of questions that were mostly answered. All in all, a really good series thus far.😁 Looking forward to the next one!
Why cliffhanger?!
Ok it’s not much a cliffhanger but come on!! I love how we are getting more of the boys point of views as more stories come out. I love it. Why can’t she have a break though. I mean come on, how much drama can one girl have!
My one click author!
BL has spun a story so creative and unique, that she will have you begging for more. Which we do, on her fan page. The characters are lovable, the MC is relatable, the enemies are hateable... Oh, and she gets them all in the end. What more can you ask for?
Best book yet!
Best book yet! relatable characters, intimate moments, all the feels. This book has it. Editing is on point! MC continues to grow and learn and heal and the author really took the research on trauma seriously. LOVED all the different POVs in this book. Can't wait for the next one.
Love this series
Great series. I love the depth of characters. And I'm loving the slow build, even though it's driving me insane. I have read the first 4 books in 3 days...I can't seem to stop. On to book 5...no doubt I will be sad that 6 isn't out yet..
Let’s be honest
I mean were you expecting me to give BL anything other than five stars? Once again I was sucked into this world of ghosts and hotties and I almost forgot myself for a while. Stop checking the reviews, do yourself a favor and read this series. Just do it.
Love it
Love this book. Love this series. Love you B.L.!!! I'm rereading and realized my review is no more, so leaving another lol. Now I'm ready for book 5.....and it came out today!!! No rest for the wicked when there's reading to do.
BL Brunnemer did not disappoint! This book gives you all the feels
BL Brunnemer did not disappoint! This book gives you all the feels. When there are so many main characters I feel that it's easy for there to be a favorite or two and some of the others become supporting characters but with this series I find my favorite changes from each book as she provides insight into each of the guys personalities. It's so hard to sing the praises of this book without giving away spoilers so let me just say you will not be disappointed, buy this book!
Love,love,love this series.
All of Lexies 5 male friends are falling so hard for Lexie. She's falling for all of them too. This is a very intriguing story line of a teenage girl dealing with having the powers of a necromancer, and trying to learn all she can to help the dead.
I laughed, I cried, WAY better than Cats
I admit to being a total fangirl for this series, but it really was another wonderful installment. The characters we know and love only get better. Fair warning: have some tissues around for the last bit of the book. In a good way! But have them on standby.
One, two... done???
This book flew by so fast that when I reached the epilogue I was stunned. And missing more. Way to short! B.L. knows how to captivate her readers and make them feel all the emotions. Again!
Can't wait to read the 5th one
It's holds ur interest to the point where u don't want to put it down. When I got to the end and realized the 5th book wasn't out yet I was so upset and made sure to subscribe to the website and follow on Amazon to Kno when the next installment was coming.
Better and better
These books are awesome! You fall in love with the characters. Laugh when they're funny, cry when they do. The story just pulls you in.
Short filler book
This one was shorter and was more focused on Lexie overcoming her PTSD. Some veil stuff but mostly HS relationships and such.
I love this series so much
I love this series so much .. my god it’s so good. I’ve always loved ghost stories as to add to RH ! The characters are so much fun to be with .. I wish I had friends like them when I was in high school. Lexi isn’t some sappy soft protagonist that’s always whining about the mean girls or why the most popular guy doesn’t like her .. she has flaws and she owns them. This is one of the top RH series.. all the boys are different and not at all cliche . I honestly could go on for hours about how much I love this series. If you’d ask I would make a PowerPoint for you.
It just keeps getting better!
The fourth book shows such a vulnerable side to Lexie but you get to see her fight and struggle to get back to her old ass-kicking self. I don’t know that I have ever been so invested in a character’s emotions and thoughts before. By this book I feel like Lexie is a good friend I have known my whole life. When she hides her struggles from the guys it makes me want to slap some sense into her. And when she cracks some seriously corny jokes to ease the tension in the room, I tend to role my eyes at her. BL Brunnemer is fantastic!
Amazing and addictive
I am so addicted to this series and the characters. BL, creates such great dynamics that you get sucked right in. I smiled, laughed, and cried while reading book 4. An amazing addition to the series. I am already anxiously awaiting book 5.
Another absolute win!
As always BL made me feel like these were people I knew in a worlf I was part of. Their hurt my hurt, their joy my joy... It's easy to get lost in the world of this series in the best possible ways and this book was no exception to that rule.
Best book ever.
This series is amazing. I cried so much! I loved the way this book was written with different POVs. It really gave insight to the characters and was well placed. I'm already drooling for the next book and it's a long wait. Ugh, my boys. <3
Awesome series & story
This is really an awesome series. It is super addicting and you’ll just want the next part. The main character is fearless! The guys are hot and sweet. It’s a great story regarding RH and paranormal. I can’t wait until the next installment.
Must read!
This whole series is a must read! I’ve got to be honest I had been avoiding the series because I wasn’t sure I would like it but thank goodness I gave in. I love it and this author and can’t wait to read more! DONT MISS OUT ON THIS!!!
Another great one!
Love this series. The author has a way of making the characters so real. You will laugh, you will cry.. can't wait for the new one. I bought this book on Oct 27th and have already read it twice. Today is October 29th. Need I say more?
Twins and their sisyer
This one was hard. I cried right along with them. You can feel their pain and anguish and B.L. does such an amazing job portrayinv these emotions i cant get enough! On to the next!
Amazing
I loved this book even though it wasn’t as long as the others. B.L. brunnemer brilliantly tied up the end of book 3 and left off at a beautiful spot both in self healing and the group dynamic for the next book.
Didn't disappoint!
I had been waiting impatiently for this book to come out and it did not disappoint, even though it was shorter than the others. I love Lexie and her guys, the characters are very well developed and the storyline is easy to get sucked in to!
Amazing!
This book was absolutely amazing. I LOVED it! I need the next book so bad. I need more of Lexie and her guys. I also loved that we got more of the guy's POVs sprinkled through out the book. It was great to see their reactions and thoughts.
OMG! They just keep getting better!!
This book blew me away! I ran across this series by accident awhile back and was hooked from the first book. I loved the addition of more POVs. It's nice to see how the many characters react to everything that's happening around them. Lexie and the boys have got my vote!!! Well done B.L. Brunnemer! I wait with bated breath for the next one
Good!!
I love this series. The care and support they all share for one another is sweet. I like that she still has to answer to her uncle also and isn’t just a teen living like an adult. The story moves along well and progresses nicely.
Fantastic!
As usual this book meets and exceeds expectations. The story of Lexie and the guys continues to wrap you up in a believable world of extra ordinary possibilities. Worth every minute of missed sleep!
Loved every damn minute of it
Waited till the book dropped at 12am and didn't stop until I finished at 5 or was it 6. My eyes were blood shot from sleep deprivation and other intense emotions. Loved every damn minute of it. Wish I could scrub my mind clean of ever having read the series so I can enjoy them all again for the first time.
Can't Wait for book 5
Shorter than the others but just as great! The struggles of the MC to overcome her experiences is my favorite part of this book. It makes everything real and terrifying, and sets up the future romances perfectly!
I love this series
I feel like an addict with this series! Lexie has grown so much since the beginning of the series and I’m so in love with all of the guys! I need more!!! I also need one of each of the guys specially delivered to my house!
Purely Amazing!
If you've picked this one before the other 3, clear your calendar and start with the first book. This book, like the others is a go straight from the beginning. These characters have such amazing depth and really get to know them. This is a series that you can read over and over! Why are you still reading this and not Whispers From the Dead?

I’m so glad BL released this on a Friday so that I could ignore the world until I finished it. This series is amazing, and this book does not disappoint. The character development in this book in particular was well paced. I can’t wait for the book 5!
Another awesome book
I don’t even know what to say!!! I love this author! This book was just a great as the others and now I can’t wait for the next one! I don’t want to give away any spoilers but Lexi and the guys are awesome!! Go buy them now!!
