You Need to Read This Book If You Have a Passion for Whiskey!
Whiskey Lore's Travel Guide to Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon is packed with everything you need to easily plan and prepare an incredible bourbon journey. This is the book you need to find the best whiskey distilleries in all of Kentucky! My next stop there I'll be checking them all out, but the book also has bonus material such as a distillery-to-brand cross-reference guide so you can discover where your favorite bourbons are made. In this book, you will find out what bourbon is, understand its history, and learn how it’s made, so you can spend your tour time finding out what makes each distillery unique. Whether you choose a tour company or do-it-yourself, I’ll help you figure out transportation, accommodations, logistics, timing, how to map out the best distilleries, and how to handle the day of your tour. Each distillery profile includes:] + The top three reasons to visit + A list of brands produced there + The tasting experience and keepsakes + Elements of the standard tour + The personality of the distillery + Side trips so you can see more of Kentucky + Planning features like tour times, maps, prices, and tour booking links + Things to listen for or watch for on your tour The book is professionally formatted as well and has great photos of the distilleries. Highly recommended!
Bourbon Country Here We Come
As a reader, my favorite books to read are those where the author's passion for the subject jumps off the page. And Drew Hannush's passion for all things whiskey jumps off the page from the outset. I live in Atlanta, and Kentucky is actually one of the few neighboring states I haven't spent any length of time in. That is about to change... I've loved bourbon for years. But my approach has been random and scattered. A bottle here, a different bottle there. But I never know the deep and rich history involved with bringing this product to market. Using this book as a guide, we're going to plan out a distillery tour trip for our friend's birthday later this year. Before finding the Whiskey Lore's Travel Guide we were shooting in the dark, and gathering info from all kinds of different sources - some not that great. This book is a must have for anyone interested in learning more about bourbons incredible history - past and present - especially for enthusiasts that would enjoy a glass of teh good stuff at an in-depth distillery tour, or from the comfort of their own home. Bourbon Country here we come.
You can almost taste the bourbon
I've lived in Tennessee for nearly 15 years and regularly visit Kentucky to taste new products, especially from small distilleries. As I moved through this book, it fully and accurately described not only the distillery, but also my experiences in those places. I'm embarrassed to say I knew very little about distilleries in Western Kentucky -- I do now -- and you can bet I'll be headed for those in short order. Hannush really did the research for this great guide. If you depend only upon what's known as the Bourbon Trail, you'll miss out on a LOT of great distilleries. Hannush gives you all you need to plan a great trip. It will be my guide to Western Kentucky bourbon (who knew there were so many?)
I'm Now a Whiskey Girl!
I loved this book and can’t wait to get my print copy! An admitted long time wine drinker, I am now fully on board the whiskey train. I blindly started experimenting with it a few months ago, but now that I have this great reference book I don’t feel like a beginner anymore. The book is such a great reference text but also reads like a novel, so it’s hard to put down. The professional way that the distilleries are compared, makes it very easy to decide how to plan your tour and special things to look for. The tasting techniques and flavor wheel information are excellent! And reading about the brand index has pumped up my shopping confidence and intelligence. Whether planning a bourbon tour or trying to think of a unique gift; get this book, it’s a keeper!
Old Kentucky Home
This book is a wonderful guide for planning a trip to Bourbon Country. The author is clearly an authority on the subject and gives the reader a comprehensive history of bourbon. He fashions a solid reference guide that contains valuable travel information and uses a fun approach to present the material. I never knew how best to taste bourbon... now after enjoying this book, I am ready to stand side by side and imbibe with friends who choose bourbon as their drink of choice. I have already recommended this book to Kentucky natives and bourbon connoisseurs who are sure to enjoy it.
The Perfect Bourbon Guide
As a bourbon enthusiast, who is currently planning a trip to Kentucky Bourbon Trail in 2021, I was excited to find such a through guide in Whiskey Lore's Travel Guide to Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon. Drew does an excellent job first introducing himself and then explaining what makes bourbon America’s Spirit. He then takes you step by step in the how to of planing a trip on the bourbon trail. I found this to be so valuable I scraped my current plan and started over under Drew’s guidance. He follows this valuable information with something every bourbon enthusiast will find valuable and that is how to conduct a proper tasting. It is well developed and valuable information to raise your bourbon game. He ends this source of great knowledge with 32 distillery profiles. These are well thought out and informative. I would recommend this guide to any bourbon enthusiast from the seasoned bourbon veterans the bourbon beginners.
Perfect
I am planning a trip for some bourbon'ing this summer (scratch that, Covid, next summer). This book was the perfect antidote to hours of wasted time googling on the internet. I really liked the format, and the e-book medium will help make sure I have it wherever my phone is. The logistics section and tying together different areas for a day, including good tie-in, was a nice touch. The summaries of bourbon history and tasting is a good concise guide for any friends and family members who want pointers before rushing headlong into a pour!
Very Informative
Got this for a relative who was planning their second trip to Bourbon country. Book was filled with things they did not know, and appreciated the impartial approach of the book. Has pros and cons for each location.
Great book for First Time Bourbon Trail Travelers
Really liked this book, it was perfect in helping me plan a first time Bourbon Trail trip. The book is a quick read and easy to understand. Drew gives a great overview and history of Kentucky bourbon, but the real value is on planning and booking your trip to bourbon country. He provides a nice overview of the distilleries and areas. There were many great tips for approaching a trip. There is also a link to his website content, podcasts, and additional resources that were also helpful. Highly recommend this book.
A must read!
This is an excellent book for both experienced whiskey drinkers and newbies looking to learn more. The Whiskey Lore podcast might be the best one out there on the subject and this guide has the same level of research, authority and clarity. For those of us who haven’t yet made the trip to Bourbon Country, it’s essential in making plans. Well done!

Don't Go To Kentucky Without This Book!
I mean seriously, do not go to Kentucky without this book. It's got everything you need to hit the Bourbon Trail and get the most out of every distillery experience! Finally ONE place to get up to speed on Kentucky Bourbon!
We are in the process of planning a trip across America. So I am researching a lot of places and topics. We knew we wanted to visit the Kentucky distilleries, but were unable to find a concise guide. Until now! Drew did all the work for me. He offers a level of detail unmatched to anything else I have found! Thank you for helping to make our trip amazing! Cheers!

Very Informative
I have dreamed of visiting Kentucky to see the beautiful horse ranches and of course attend the Derby. It never really occurred to that Whiskey is such a prominent part of Kentucky. My upcoming visit now includes whiskey tasting and I cannot wait. thank you for writing this book!
Sucks
No need to read this waste of time. Useless info - not worth the costs. Tear it up if it was hard copy

Educating history of Bourbon and Whiskeys
I really enjoyed how this book was put together. I never considered taking tours of distilleries in Kentucky until I read this well-written book. I learned a lot about history and the process of making these drinks. Drew even had a section on how to drink and savor the experience. If anyone is interested in this subject this book is a great source of information allowing you to have the best experience. I would recommend this book to friends and family members, heck even people I don't know.
