For more than 100 years, people have been captivated by the disastrous sinking of the Titanic that claimed over 1,500 lives. Now young readers can find out why the great ship went down and how it was discovered seventy-five years later.

At 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, the Royal Mail Steamer Titanic, the largest passenger steamship of this time, met its catastrophic end after crashing into an iceberg. Of the 2,240 passengers and crew onboard, only 705 survived. More than 100 years later, today's readers will be intrigued by the mystery that surrounds this ship that was originally labeled "unsinkable."

Recommend for older kids

I bought this for my 6 year old nephew because he loves the titanic. I opened the book and just happened to open it to the pages in the pictures. I did not read the entire book, but that passage seemed a bit dark for a 6 year old, so we ended up keeping the book and not giving it to him. I would definitely recommend it for older kids.

Alzheimers patients can understand and read it.

This series of books are good not only for 8 to 10 yr old but excellent for seniors who suffer from Alzheimers. Because it is written about the past but in a simpler way for ppl to read the book outloud to caregivers. My mom can relate to this much more than kiddie books. Great for keeping the brain working.

Factual and Readable

Again, here is another nonfiction book on o popular topic that I wish I had had in my sixth grade classroom library. I liked that it went into the history of its building and the emphasis on its grandure and luxury which makes its loss that more tragic. It will satisfy students' curiosity or make them want to research more. It is a good place to start, and I would put its reading level on about sixth grade.

Good Book

I thought this book was good. It had many events that the author dug deeper into. For example, he told how long it took to build, and how many workers it took to build the Titanic. The author explained how life was like for all the classes and what it looked like inside. My favorite part was he told how long it took for the Titanic to sink and the different time for all the parts to sink. A review by a 10 year old.

This book has some nice diagrams and is well written

My 7 year old was very interested in learning about the titanic. This book has some nice diagrams and is well written.

Perfect series.

This whole series of books is just wonderful. Pick a topic that your child is or might be inteterested in and these books draw them right in. My son has been reading them since second grade (end of third now) and he still anxiously awaits them as I buy new. They are by far his favorite series and in my opinion so much better than the other silly/gross/obnoxious series out there.

Five Stars

We love this series. This book even had photographs from the ship itself.

Educational and good reading.

If you have a young who child likes to read and learn both, the series of books who is or what was is the greatest! He has quite the collection, and they are something great we can read together or he reads by himself.

Great book great price

8 yo expert reference source for the Titanic

Do not buy this for your kid unless you want to have the resident expert on the ship living in your house. Great book, definitely sparks the young imagination. (Uh, Mommy? Did you know that....)
