Amazing book! I have been craving a good LGBT book for ages, and when this came up on my for you page of tiktok, I impulsively bought it at 3 am. When I finally had the chance to sit down and read it, I READ THE ENTIRE BOOK IN FOUR HOURS. I have severe adhd, so it’s very difficult for me to concentrate on reading for long periods of time, but I was completely sucked in and did not move from my desk. I would say the writing does seem flawed at points, but it’s absolutely easy to overlook when reading such a fantastic book with amazing plot twists and a climax that left me eager to turn the page.

I had no idea how this book would end, even with part of the last chapter being right at the beginning of the book! The characters are both flawed and lovable. I became quite invested in the story. In Black and White, and Grey. How every little bit, every little question was satisfyingly answered and tied up in a lovely bun at the end. The author is a wonderful person as well! And I often messaged them on Instagram as I read it due to my excitement. I've enjoyed this book, and it was very enjoyable to get lost into. The LGBT+ representation was lovely, with seeing they/them pronouns being used throughout the entire book, and the main character with his lover/partner.

The plot sounded great, the book itself was difficult to read and in my opinion poorly paced. Every character had a grandiose name which I found annoying. I truly wanted to love this book but it was pretty meh.

There were times I found myself looking for answers to things that were hinted at multiple times, which did bother me a bit. Otherwise it was amazing and left me craving more. The characters were developed, it wasn’t ridiculously over powered or bizarre.

Absolutely amazing book! I loved reading it do much and it quickly became one of my favorites!

Valentyne DeBudge continues to portray LGBTQIA+ in a very everyday and real way with his unique perspective. The chemistry created between characters is powerful, while still utilize healthy communication, consent, and care. This is a book that pushed an uncomfortable moral feeling, rooting for the bad guy and fulfilling a morose interest, but everyone loves a good serial killer documentary. There are times when I was unable to suspend my disbelief admittedly, thrusting myself back into a reality that this was fantasy; however, most of the time I stayed very transported into the world created and immersed in the characters. Mostly, my favorite thing in Valentyne's writing is usually found in one or two sentences. I will find one or two lines that are so real, honest, and hold a vulnerable kind of human truth to them that others never dare to speak. Those are what keep his books alive for months after reading them. [I do, but in the way that we hate a storm. We hate the wind and the rain and the snow, but do we, really? They just make us feel something out of our comfort, they make us feel alive in the most uncomfortable of ways. And as much as we say we hate them, the world would be incomplete without them.] I thought of said fundamental truth line from Algernon's Anamonly quite often in this book. In a way, it seems to be a theme of his. The darkness that we view as the enemy is moreso a cold and comforting friend, nothing is ever black and white. The grey exists for a reason, and DeBudge writes within it. 5/5.

I found this gem via TikTok and was so intrigued by the premise I had to pick it up. Some suspension of disbelief is required, but only minor. The characters are flawed in a delightful way. Watching the story progress as Wolf came up with his plan and the began to carry it out, the "meeting" of Lyon and all the little twists to that part of the story... it was all just lovely. The ending left me feeling a bit forlorn, though, and I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or not. Definitely left me with things to consider.

Watch Me is a great book. The characters are well thought out and you won't want the book to end. I would recommend this book 10/10 to anyone. If you loved this book check out Algernon's Anomaly as well as it is by the same author.

I don't even know what to say or where to start. The only thing I know is: I loved it. I l had hoped that I would love it, but when it actually happend, I was surprised. So the book starts with a introduction into the world view of the MC and MC as a person. Or rather the person they pretend to be. I love how their mask slowly starts to fall apart the more we get into the book. I loved the murder part, but I also loved the characters. If you don't I'm pretty sure you won't enjoy the book. Because in my personal opinion, it's pretty much character driven. Every decision that the MC makes matters - he is a killer after all, so of course they matter. When I first met Lyon on page, I was in love so I could totally understand that Wolf felt so too. There was something about him, that just drew you closer. I loved the side characters.... or rather, there were some I hated, but those were the embodyment of the antagonistic force, so I was supposed to hate them. xD I was surprised by a certain person to be the antagonist. Looking back, it was obvious, hell, the MC TOLD ME HIMSELF but I didn't believe him . Man, had I known how much I would wish death upon that one character from page one, I would have never started to like him in the first place xD Top 10 Anime betrayels xD The writing is really great, the ship is sailing so beautifully, they are just so good to each other, you can ship them without a second thought. They are so cute together. This is the evil power couple dynamic I've been craving all my life and this book has made my dreams finally come true. Where was I .... oh yeah I was praising the book. Anyways, there are some really dark things in the book and I loved that the author wasn't afraid to show them, to make you cry, to make you scream to make you feel. My emotions where all over the place and I loved it. ALSO on another note, there were no sexy scenes :) As an asexual I was scared there would be explicit scenes but BOY the word banana wasn't even mentioned once! They do have sex, but it's fade to black, so not only is this book focusing on the ROMANTIC aspect of the relationship, not only is it amazingly told and written, not only is the plot captivating. No, it is also asexual friendly. Book Community, don't you dare sleep on this book! It's my new favourit! ♥

I just love this author! Watch me is such an amazing book. Valentyne really knows how to write and how to catch the readers attention. Being kind of 'traumatised' by the rollercoaster of emotions I went through while reading his first book, I was pretty scared about Watch me, if I am honest. While this book didn't bring me to tears like his other one, this held me on edge the whole time nonetheless. The author just has such an amazing way to grab the attention of the reader over hundreds of pages, continuously. I do wish, which I already thought while reading his first book, that the relationship of the main love interests (Wolf and Lyon) would be brought even more into focus. I feel like he always perfectly puts the main plot, excluding the love part, into scene, where you don't get the feeling that anything was glossed over, while the love part felt not entirely deep enough in my opinion. Not saying that I don't absolutely loved Wolf and Lyon, no I love them, but I feel like if you go deeper into their love story you can also show more of their personality, especially Lyons. While I feel like I know e.g. Wolf and Rudo perfectly, I still don't have Lyon figured out to 100%. Especially, since he is a rather mysterious character. And the other critique in my opinion is, that while this book is not written to fulfil your moral fantasies, 'the bad serial killer turns around and becomes good', I feel like Wolfs 'serial killer'-personality and his 'normal' personality where sometimes too separated, where I forgot that he already murderd over 200 people. Those, however, where the only things that kind of irked me while reading, but there where only minor things in my opinion. I loved the characters and I was pleasantly surprised how some relationships turned out. I don't know how realistic this is but I would die for a sequel, since I really, really adore Lyon. Probably, because he was the complete opposite of what I expected him to be like. I imagined a more nerdy, indie boy but got a more Chuck Bass kinda guy... And I am definitely not complaining. Of course I also loved to have the 'villain' as an protagonist, always so interesting to read. And, to close it up, you have to praise the LGBT representation by Valentyne and the repetitive focus on consent, which really makes me happy. All in all, I absolutely loved it and I can't wait for another book to be released... I am already waiting for more!!!!

I read the entire book within less than 24 hours. It's well written and pulls you in from the first sentence on. Honestly? It's been the first time in years I couldn't have put a book down if I wanted to - and I most certainly did not want to do that. The characters are deep, the wording paints a beautifully living picture and the conversations took me with them enough to make my roommates ask about what I kept groaning or chuckling about all the time. One thing I loved in particular is that I honestly wasn't aware what would happen next. Instead of trying to circumnavigate or poorly hide obvious developments, the author managed to connect some obvious aspects and a path there seemingly made out of doubts and surprises. And one more thing: I am dyslexic, so I often have trouble reading books even when I do enjoy them. With the fond and space the author chose here, I did not have such a problem even once. I wasn't able to read something this easily and fluently since I discovered OpenDyslexic (for those of you who don't know, it's a fond enabling dyslexic people to read similarly to neuro-typical people). And while most of you probably won't care about this detail, everyone with dyslexia in their life will know how amazing it is. It feels nothing short of a miracle, so I just had to mention it. So, if you are thinking about buying this book: Do it. You will most definitely not regret it.

i saw valentyne talk about this book on tiktok and immediately went to order it. it's really well written and the plot is one of the best i've ever read. apparently he has more books that are to-be-published so i'm just patiently waiting! :D

Gift for my daughter

Amazing book! I have been craving a good LGBT book for ages, and when this came up on my for you page of tiktok, I impulsively bought it at 3 am. When I finally had the chance to sit down and read it, I READ THE ENTIRE BOOK IN FOUR HOURS. I have severe adhd, so it’s very difficult for me to concentrate on reading for long periods of time, but I was completely sucked in and did not move from my desk. I would say the writing does seem flawed at points, but it’s absolutely easy to overlook when reading such a fantastic book with amazing plot twists and a climax that left me eager to turn the page.

I had no idea how this book would end, even with part of the last chapter being right at the beginning of the book! The characters are both flawed and lovable. I became quite invested in the story. In Black and White, and Grey. How every little bit, every little question was satisfyingly answered and tied up in a lovely bun at the end. The author is a wonderful person as well! And I often messaged them on Instagram as I read it due to my excitement. I've enjoyed this book, and it was very enjoyable to get lost into. The LGBT+ representation was lovely, with seeing they/them pronouns being used throughout the entire book, and the main character with his lover/partner.

Holy rubber ducky batman! I stumbled across a tiktok advertising this story, and the summary given sounded interesting, so I bought it on a whim. I then proceeded to spend the next 4 hours binging it, and let me tell you my heart will never be the same if I haven't cried over a book in 7 years, but several times I had to put this down as it ripped my feels out of my chest. 1000/10 would recommend!!!! The characters are so REAL, their relationships with one another are complex and beautifully multifaceted, and the story REALLY makes you question things you thought you knew. I have fallen in love with Wolf, and Lyon, and Their, and Rudo and would live nothing more than to see more of them~!!

I haven't wanted to read a book in years now, it hasn't seemed as fun as it once did in my childhood but when I saw this I thought "Well...maybe this book will be the first in 3 years that I can actually finish" I read the whole novel in one day. I was captivated by the plot and amazing characters. Each twist was so exciting and fun to read! I highly recommend this book to my romance and thriller lovers out there.

I picked up this book yesterday and I wasn't able to put it down the whole time! I was captured by the magnificent storytelling and characters, the way that everyone's chemistry just ebbs and flows together. I will definitely be checking out more from this author and would recommend it to everyone!

I feel guilty liking this as much as I did. It's incredibly entertaining and a real page turner. I ended up a lot more invested than I thought I would be. The writing is great and I bought another book of this author's immediately after finishing this one. Can't wait to read it.

The characters in this book are so well written. Every time you think the story is slowing down, another twist shows up making the book impossible to put down. I also love the representation of the lgbt+ community!

This book was amazing! I read it in two days, I was unable to stop reading expect to attend my Zoom classes. Wonderful twists and an impactful story. Amazing LGBTQ+ representation as well. Loved it.

Watch Me is a work of art filled with beautiful characters (with amazing representation) and an intense storyline! There is some heavy material but it’s well worth the read!
