John Lewis
An award-winning national bestseller, Walking with the Wind is one of our most important records of the American Civil Rights Movement. Told by John Lewis, who Cornel West calls a “national treasure,” this is a gripping first-hand account of the fight for civil rights and the courage it takes to change a nation.

In 1957, a teenaged boy named John Lewis left a cotton farm in Alabama for Nashville, the epicenter of the struggle for civil rights in America. Lewis’s adherence to nonviolence guided that critical time and established him as one of the movement’s most charismatic and courageous leaders. Lewis’s leadership in the Nashville Movement—a student-led effort to desegregate the city of Nashville using sit-in techniques based on the teachings of Gandhi—set the tone for major civil rights campaigns of the 1960s. Lewis traces his role in the pivotal Selma marches, Bloody Sunday, and the Freedom Rides. Inspired by his mentor, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Lewis’s vision and perseverance altered history. In 1986, he ran and won a congressional seat in Georgia, and remains in office to this day, continuing to enact change.

The late Edward M. Kennedy said of Lewis, “John tells it like it was…Lewis spent most of his life walking against the wind of the times, but he was surely walking with the wind of history.”

It's a worthwhile read about an important part of American history. The book has been reviewed by others and the description says it all. Problem is, the book is too thick to carry easily. PLEASE, someone make this available in ebook, audible or at least pdf format. It's a book that most readers will likely want to add bookmarks and notes.

Modern hero

For those of you unfamiliar with John Lewis, his is truly an inspirational story, a driven and courageous man who rose from relative poverty to play a crucial role in the civil rights movement and during his crusade was beaten, threatened and jailed numerous times simply for standing up for African-American rights. Eventually he became friends with Martin Luther King, the Kennedy's and virtually everyone who was anyone in the civil rights movement and was known for his honesty, integrity and gritty determination to forge ahead regardless of the cost. This is a wonderful book about a unique and remarkable man and is an essential and fascinating look at a truly remarkable man, an American hero. Essential reading for anyone interested in race relations in America.

Important reads

I have a black stamp collection for my kids already. My new goal as a senior is to collect books that I can read and pass down to my grands. This book will be part of that.

A true American hero

Reading Lewis' autobiography "Walking in the Wind" is a transformative experience. As a child growing up in the sixties and seventies, I heard a lot about the horrors of the Holocaust, but the horrors of Jim Crow were given short shrift in U.S. history classes. What Lewis experienced in the Freedom Rides were nothing short of horrific. At one point, he and a fellow activist were locked in a hamburger joint. The manager had locked both doors and vacated the store except for Lewis and his friend, then turned on a fumigator. The room filled with insecticide and Lewis was certain he was doomed. Just luck that someone called the fire department, and they were narrowly saved from death. That is just one example of what he went through. Of course the walk in Selma has been shown over and over again, but there are many, many instances like that that Lewis somehow miraculously lived through. A true testament to courage, integrity, and love, Lewis is an American hero right up there with Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. They should have a statue of him in D. C.

An Inspiration and an Education

This book is really a must-read, as it covers in depth the Civil Rights struggle of the late 1950s and early 1960s as lived by someone at the heart of it, who knew all the leaders and put his own body on the line over and over. It is also immensely readable, and if there are times I simply can't keep all the names straight (he is very thorough) they are more than balanced by Lewis's deep and beautiful reflections, excerpts from speeches and the sheer readability, humility and honestly of his story. It would be five stars for the story from which the title gets its basis. We need this reminder that peaceful protest requires great strength and courage, resolution and planning, and will always be needed.

Carrying the torch of love, mutual respect and courage forward to an eagerly awaiting America.

I still mourn the loss of Dr. King, but feel Mr. Lewis echoes his timeless sentiments and carries the torch for another generation. He is as good a writer as he is an honest, decent, engaged human being. It was an honor to hold his work product in my hands as I read it. I felt his strength against all odds and cheered with his victories and felt the cruel sting of racism radiate off the pages. His superior writing ability is a powerful delight. A highly recommended read.

The book to read if you are disheartened by current politics

Engaging, well-written and thought-provoking. I could hardly put this book down after reading the first few pages, and three days later as I finished it, I really wished for a second volume. The time period covered is from 1940 to the end of the 20th century. This book helped so much in coming to grips with the new political situation in the U.S. An extraordinary story of a remarkable person.

Printing of book was crooked

This is an excellent book with inspiring historical content. Unfortunately, the printing was EXTREMELY SHODDY! I've read the book before and gave it to a friend. I ordered this book to replace it, and I am disappointed to find such a poor print job. Cannot return the book as I immediately signed the inside cover.

John Lewis Provides America with His Wisdom

What am I going to say that would be different from anyone else? Probably nothing. However, I feel there is a lot to learn for anyone who reads this book about John Lewis who spent his life fighting for equal rights for minorities and suffered great physical harm from it. Violence begets violence according to Lewis who preached and practiced non-violence as did Martin Luther King, Jr. For those who lived through it the 1960s was a violent decade with the Vietnam war, racial strife, and assassinations. It's all here in Lewis's book. I believe any reader of this book should pay special attention to the last chapter in which John Lewis sums up his feelings and beliefs for America. We stand at a crossroads right now as to which way will we go, forward or backward to the time when discrimination reigned supreme. We will have the choice this November as to which way we choose. I pray the lessons of the past and the strife we are going through right now can be put behind us. John Lewis would be proud to have us move forward.

I was surprised at how open and honest John Lewis ...

I was surprised at how open and honest John Lewis is in this memoir. Not only does he offer a blow-by-blow account of the civil rights movement, but he dissects the tensions and conflicts within the movement and offers a voice of moral clarity throughout.

A powerful tale, a remarkable man

When news of John Lewis’s death came last year, I realized, despite my growing up during the time of the civil rights movement, I knew nothing about this great and beloved man. I lived an insulated life, aware of the movement, but truly knowing nothing in depth. I felt it a duty to myself to read about John Lewis, and I chose his Memoir of the Movement entitled Walking with the Wind. Lewis’s life and the work he did is remarkable. He was an incredibly dedicated man who believed in his cause and worked tirelessly, often facing death in so doing. He organized, led, and marched for the rights of Black citizens of the US. To criticize this man’s book is almost desecrating his legacy. But, nevertheless, I wish he had been able to tell his story in far fewer words. The book weighs in at just over five hundred pages. It is large format book, and thus it is heavy in weight as well as in message. At one point, Lewis is speaking of another movement leader. He says, “He was always the one who would throw up his hands and say people were just talking something to death here.” Frequently, I felt Lewis was doing just that as he tells his story and his philosophy. Lewis is fond of what I can only term the “extended thought.” For example, towards the end of the book, he is describing his campaigning door to door for an election pitting him against Julian Bond. He creates one paragraph, using two-hundred-forty-four words just to describe his going door to door. Perhaps in a shorter book, that might have had impact. But in a five hundred page book, a paragraph like that coming within twenty five pages of the end of the book is tedious. And that ending: Lewis spends over twenty pages delivering an extended “speech” about what still needs to be done in America. Yes, his words have meaning and have power, but after holding an incredibly heavy book up for roughly fifteen hours, I was ready for him to be a bit more succinct. It is perhaps wrong to say anything against such a great statesman, a man of conviction and principle until the day he died. But I do wish I could have gotten his message and followed the inspiring story of the movement in a tighter written, more succinct fashion. That being said, this book—written in 1998—is still relevant. His final remarks hearken to the creation of the Black Lives Matter movement and the need to continue working toward racial equity in our country.

I feel like I am there

I am still reading this amazing book. I am a seventies baby, so to read about and era just ten or more years prior is very insightful, eye opening, I had cringing moments while reading this book. I also had laughing moments and shock moments. This book is very detailed. It pulls you into the story. I am a visual person, so while read I feel like I am there. I am midway through. If you really wanted to go back in history this is the book. I feel like Senator Lewis is reading this book to me.

What a ride!

I am about 3/4 through this 500-page book of John Lewis' life as a peaceful protester for civil rights. I feel that anytime a writer can actually take you to the place they've been and you can feel what they are feeling, it is a good read. I felt like I have personally been on the freedom ride buses, the sit ins, the beatings, kicked and jailed for protesting what is right. John Lewis was truly an American Hero and was so deserving of the medal of honor given to him by President Barack Obama. It should have been given to him years ago after all of the pain and suffering he has done in the fight for civil rights all the way to the end of his 80 year life! You will not be disappointed in reading this book and you will learn of the struggles of black America that we are STILL dealing with in 2020! The more things change, the more they stay the same. Buy this book!

Great memoir and painless way to learn about a critical era in American history

John Lewis is a genuine American hero who is probably unknown to the majority of white Americans which is a real shame. In this memoir he writes about his life in the Civil Rights movement which is the chronicle of a man of a degree of character and principle that few other individuals, Black or white in the 20th century can claim. It is a story complete with intrigues, politics, and struggles that few people will ever experience but can learn about from a man who experience first hand from the front lines one of the greatest struggles for equality of the 20th century.

History details here that fascinate but also teach

The book is a good view of a movement born championing equity and agency for local folks to think and organize for themselves - both the strengths and the weaknesses, the ups and the downs. Primarily SNCC but also roots before that and including a bit of SCLC and changing general political scene. We are again in parallel times, again with a Movement striving for focus and riding a wave of possibility and again led and energized by the young. This book names much that can be re-learned by this new generation.

Beginning my heartfelt reading of the civil rights movement through the witness of John Lewis.

I am just beginning and am very happy with this book. It is bringing me closer to the humble beginnings of a great man I aim to learn more about. The type is a bit light in the book. I wish it were a bolder darker typing for easier reading. But I am having an eye opening look into the southern states and the struggles of racial inequality during the civil rights movement. I am looking forward to understanding today’s struggles in light of this book and to be better equipped to uphold the legacy of one our nation’s founding fathers, John Lewis.

Don’t miss this book

Have you ever read a book that you couldn’t stop reading? Have you ever read a book that you can put down for a few days, a week and pick up right where you left off and never have missed a beat? Well, Walking With the Wind was everything for me. I took me to his place, in his mind and in his spirit. This made me want to get up and do something, for my fellow man and essentially for myself. A message that came as clear as day from reading this book. When we want something, we have to in some way want it for other people. In return, we will be fruitful. This book is like a reference guide for our future. In order to know where we’re going, we have to know where we’ve been. And while I didn’t live that life, I see the comparisons today and understand even more what needs to be done. Thank you Congressman John R. Lewis.

Totally engaging book!

I am halfway through this book and I literally carry it with me everywhere I go so that I can continue reading when I have a down minute. Lewis is an icon and his writing style is engaging, captivating, and realistic. He paints a clear picture of his upbringing, his inner thoughts, and what led him to and through the necessary work of the civil rights movement. It is a big book so you won't finish overnight but you will get through several chapters each read.

Man, he can write!

I am only up to page 20, and I have to tell you - this man can *write*! Beautiful, languorous, but never over-done or boring, prose that is magical in its richness. And this is just the part about him being a little boy!

Amazing man & very interesting book

John Lewis’ profoundly moving memoir gives insights into an amazing American who lived his values and whose courage changed our lives.

How important it is to vote .people died for that right.

I was born in1945 so John Lewis was five years older than I am. I was not aware of all the stuff that was happen in the 60.I lived in the rural area we didn't have television or get the newspapper. It not that I don't remember l just didn't know it was going on until later when I became a adult. The book allowed me to live though what John Lewis and others wen though. I learned a lot about how politic work

One of the Best Books I Have Read

This is a fascinating read. I don't know why Congressman Lewis hasn't received as much credit as he deserves for the courage he showed in risking his life to make our country better for everyone. Perhaps it is because he is a modest man. The memoir provides great insight as to what made up the character of Lewis and other brave young persons who were willing to take action to change a system that was immoral and was a hinderance to everyone, regardless of the color of his or her skin. Would the rest of us be as brave as Congressmen Lewis and his friends were in that very dangerous time? In all likelihood, very few of us probably would have been willing to do what these American heroes did. Learning why they were willing to risk their lives and the steps they took to prepare for the dangerous task ahead is more than worth the time and the very small amount of money you will trade for this experience. Thank you, Congressman, for what you did. Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your experiences with the rest of us.

Beautiful

This was a long, slow, beautiful conversation with John Lewis about race and life. He was at the lunch counters, he was on the Freedom Ride, at the March on Washington, on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, and at the tragic election night rally for the RFK in California. The son of a sharecropper who became a civil rights icon. Peace

Inspirational. Beautifully Written! A Full Civil Rights Legacy!

Wow. What a phenomenal story about an incredible man. Our civil rights warriors each have their own stories about their humble beginnings and this one is not to be missed. Beautifully written, 400 pages but an easy read, lovely. Every one should read John Lewis’ story.

Excellent Read - History Repeating its self

I highly recommend this read for all Americans, particularly young African Americans. So many lessons and principles to follow during this season of BLM... This read well support and influence strong organized purposeful demonstrations that will galvanize this country to move and fight for Justice for ALL! I highly recommend this book, John Lewis lead a highly respectable life

A perfect book for 2020

I knew little about Lewis beyond the headlines around the civil rights movement. His life was truly astonishing -- this book was a wonderful antidote to the woes of 2020, a life story that filled me with admiration and hope. Highly recommended.

An American Hero

Great book by a great American.

Good Trouble,Necessary Trouble, Awesome Story.

Rep. Lewis journey from cotton fields of Troy, Alabama, to walking with MLK , to become U S Representative of Georgia. The “ boy from Troy” , as MLK call him, is a story you must read. A charismatic and courageous leader whose activism changed civil rights for all people.

Memories of John Lewis

I started reading this book and haven't put it down yet. It is filled with so many interesting and courageous acts John and his followers did during the civil rights movement so that they could have the same rights as others had. It's a good read but lengthy. He was so determined to have change in America he never gave up trying to make things fair for all people.

Beautifully written!

This is a book about courage and the pursuit of justice. John Lewis is a true hero in and out. This book could not have been written nay better. I'm one o the younger generation reading this and I don't think five stars is enough for this book. Loved it!!

Excellent

I really enjoyed this book about someone who stood (or sat or rode or marched) for what was right. A true profile in courage. One of my favorite books, I even gave it as a gift. Well written--it is like a conversation with John Lewis.

Must read book!

An amazing man’s story. A must read for anyone interested in civil rights, and the movement through the years. Easy to read, interesting, human interest. It’s not a page turner, but it was not a difficult read like some historic books.

A book worth reading

A wonderfully written memoir by John Lewis. From his poor beginnings to his part in the fight for civil rights, to his role in shaping our country through his work in Congress, the road was never easy. But he persevered.

An insightful personal story of Lewis’ involvement in America’s Civil Rights Movement.

An eye opening, insider’s look at what was happening behind the scenes in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s , from a person who was there from the beginning and is still fighting for Black equality.

Excelleent narrative of the civil rights movement

Excellent narrative of the civil rights movement. Senator Lewis shares places and names. You get a wonderful story about how the movement started by one of our great American patriots.

Must read and give to young people!

Such an amazing story and a true hero. No matter your politics, John Lewis was a great American hero. Humble, courageous, strong leader, persistent, with an amazing life. You will treasure his story.

Great read!

Such a poignant book for a life well lived. It’s a wonderful book!

On the Freedom train

Ride the Freedom train with one of the greatest civil rights leader to be elected to congress. John Lewis not only embodies the teaching of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. But creates a grand legacy of his own.

Great Book

John Lewis will always be a hero and an example of a great activist for me. Prior to reading this book all I knew about him was from YouTube videos and the March series. This book goes into great detail about the man himself and the movement. Reading this should inspire you. It's an amazing book and it's long but it's worth every page and every word.

Everyone should read this book

Everyone, including those born after the events of the 60's should read this book. It's factual. No stone un-turned. It gave me the history of events that led to the March on Washington and who the real behind-the-scenes organizers were.

The truth....the real...

Yes, John Lewis' memoirs "Walking with the Wind" definitely met my expectations. Reliving his accounts of reality, without "sugar-coating" events in history was very powerful. Many in America need to take this "walk"!

Fantastic memoir

I bought this right after John Lewis passed and although I already knew quite a bit about his life, I found this to be utterly fascinating. I learned so much about what made this great, courageous man tick.

blurry text

I'm super sad that this reprinting couldn't honor Senator Lewis more. The text is blurry and hard to read.

Walking with the wind

I remember lot what happened to me as child. This every parent should give this book to there teenager to read. This should show them a lot of of the places and a lot of the things that they but did not have to be beat almost to death for just being black. Thank you Mr. Lewis. I'm 65 and I remember not being able to check out a book out from the library. Rest and be with the Angels.

Easy read and very informative.

Such a well written book. Learned a lot about the Civil Rights movement. Also applicable to todays struggles.

John Lewis' life story is incredible and one that should inspire us to action today!

I was impressed by everything about this book. It was easy to read, the compelling stories brought back historic times in my life, and enlightened me to how difficult the non-violent Movement was. Lewis was a true public servant, giving his entire life to increasing opportunities for minorities, and promoting collaboration among all sides of issues. We need more people like him today!!

I had never heard of John Lewis until he passed away.

I used this book to find out about a man I had never heard of until he passed away. No wonder he was considered the conscience of Congress after all he had been through and never wavered in his beliefs. He was a man of great character and I believe this book should be required reading throughout the country.

This man is a true hero

An true man of honor and what we should strive to emulate.

The shoulders we stand on

Great book. Unfortunately the voting rights issues John Lewis still fought for still need people to take a stance today. This is especially evident in areas where voter suppression against blacks is still happening.

This book has disappeared from my Kindle. I can't read it again.

Wonderful book. BUT, Amazon has no mechanism for re-downloading when it's disappeared from a Kindle.

Best bookbI read all year! Need a Kindle version!

What an incredible life! I felt inspired and comforted by jis example and words.

A must read!

Fantastic! I am enjoying this book immensely. He did an amazing job conveying his own experiences growing up and his journey to be such a significant force in the fight for civil rights.

Lessons for today

“Walk with the Wind” should be required reading for today’s protesters, so they could see what a real hero accomplishes with non-violent protests. I never appreciated that “non-violent” meant geting beat and cursed without fighting back.

A First Hand Account of Necesaary Trouble/GoodTrouble

A must read! A detailed account of the Civil Rights Movement from Mr. Lewis; as he experienced it.

Well written and inspirational

John Lewis is a modern hero, a man of strength and peace. His autobiography is not just his fascinating story, but a history of one of the most important social movements in modern times.

John Lewis - a genuine American hero

A beautifully written memoir of a truly great hero of the civil rights movement. Every American should read this book. I marvel at his courage and nobility.

Just a wonderful memoir. I was completely absorbed

Just a wonderful memoir. I was completely absorbed. I thought I knew a lot about the civil rights movement but it turned out I really didn't.

Can't say how much I loved this book

Can't say how much I loved this book. I have read it twice since my first purchase and highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn facts and history.

Excellent and concise retelling of the life of John Lewis

Excellent and concise retelling of the life of John Lewis. He's truly an American hero and after reading this memoir I felt I gained a wealth of knowledge and perspective on the Civil Rights movement. I highly recommend this book for history buffs, HS students, and anyone who ever has or will live in the American South.

Excellent Read

It was everything I thought it was going to be

Great book. Type is hard to read.

Love the book itself, but the type in this edition is printed at a low resolution and blurry! I was shocked that a book could be printed with such disregard for readability. Unworthy of John Lewis's story. Read this book, but get a different edition!

Walking wirh the Wind: A Memoir of the Movement

Wow! What a book! I could not put it down. At the time, I was a college student and actively took part in the Civil Rights Movement. I participated in the marches and picketing in Columbia, South Carolina. In fact, one day during my freshman year, while we were out picketing, our dormitory was set ablaze. An act which was never solved by local police. Walking with the Wind, by John Lewis, gave me a visual insight into the Civil Rights Movement of things that happened behind the scenes, things of which I knew nothing about. As I continue to tell my children and grandchildren about my participation in the Movement, this book will help to paint a picture which everyone can visualize and understand. Mr. Lewis' description of his family, and growing up in rural Alabama is almost a mirrow-image of mine growing up in rural South Carolina. I couldn't believe the similarities. Hopefully, one day I shall get a chance to Meet John Lewis. That would make my day! Mozelle Simmons Richmond

enjoyed book. very much. good read

Had To Wait For The Book... And So Glad I Did.

One of the best books I have ever read about the Civil Rights era. Easy and visual read about a remarkable and great American. God bless the real heros of American freedom like John Lewis. Had to wait for a reprint and so glad I did!

Excellent Honest History

I have read a couple hundred bio/auto bios in my life and this is easily in my top five ever, maybe top of the list. Well written, honest, Easy read. Fascinating life and excellent history of the movement. I also ordered Jon Meacham’s ( who I enjoy as an author) bio of Lewis But expect it to be anticlimactic.

A Walk Back in History

I appreciated the honesty and humility displayed in the writing of this book.

Read this book! it's so good

This book was so riveting and educational (even if you already know the historical context, seeing it all through one person's eyes is a whole different trip). What an amazing life this man has led (and he's still out there fighting the good fight).

amazing book

amazing book

Good read

Excellent reading, personal use

Awesome!!

I love it!

Beautifully written history

I've just started and am already drawn in by Lewis's writing style. I'm looking forward to his language and to learning, finally, about that time of our history.

So far it has been a good read.

I have not yet finished the book, but so far it is a good read about an amazing man. I wish I had even just half of his conviction.

Everyone should read this book

God bless John Lewis and all who walked with him and prayed for him. I am in awe of the life described in this book.

Pretty good

Great assessment of his journey during the civil rights movement.

A great book. Easy to follow. Truly was a great man. Even though he went through so much hate and abuse, he still insisted on nonviolence in his own decision making. We could all learn so much from how he lived his life.

An American patriot who should be an inspiration for us all.

This is a wonderful memoir of the civil rights movement, told from Congressman Lewis's perspective. John Lewis’ courage and lifelong commitment to justice, love, and the way of nonviolence have made him an American patriot. This should be regarded as essential reading for all Americans.

Very Informative.

John Lewis was a very special man. Did a lot for the Black community during the fight for justice in the 60's. Didn't get the recognition he deserved. He was as instrumental as Martin Luther.

Five Stars

Excellent read. Very good documentation.

Should be required reading for all Americans.

A wonderfully earnest, moving, and detailed history of the civil rights movement from one of its heroes. John Lewis was on the front lines of nearly every major victory (and defeat) of the movement, and his retelling of its story in his own clear, strong voice is what makes this book unique. His inspiring perspective, in combination with the book's very accessible style, is why I believe this book should be required reading for every American. It both reminds us of the incredible sacrifices of those who struggled to make this country live up to its values and reveals how far we still have to go.

A legacy of justice and love in the public arena!

I had the opportunity to meet John Lewis briefly a number of years ago. This man is a giant - he embodies the vision of "the beloved community" carrying the dispositions and hope of that vision even in his engagement with political opponents. He refuses to fall into demonizing the other, while tirelessly working for the common good. We are fortunate to have the living example of persons who met brutal force with soul-force. This memoir will challenge and encourage commitment to a better future for all.

I thought I had learned what I needed to about the civil rights movement in public school - Ha! Guess not. I am not a fan of nonfiction/history/biographies normally but this had me hooked from the beginning. It gave me a totally new level of understanding about the experiences of POC in this country and the social movements that have happened and are happening now. I got a better understanding of the depth of my privilege as a white person, but without feeling guilty or frustrated. Made me want to be a better person and better citizen.

There really are no words to adequately express the importance of this eye witness account of historical facts regarding one of the most important events in the struggle for Civil Rights. It's so well written, it draws you in to what is happening during this time of our history.

Should be taught in schools.

Great man

What a guy. Reading this makes Trump look all the more idiotic for calling him out once for being all talk and no action. Trump clearly didn't even know who he was (how shocking, right?). But John Lewis is walking history. Everyone in America should read his story.

This book is like taking my Civil Rights class all over again, only from the perspective of John Lewis. Phenomenal read, incredible man, life-changing story!

Excellent reading!

I loved this book written well and in simple language but very powerful. I wished every school children read this book to understand the history of civil rights movement in America and the courage of those who were denied voices for so long. Its a very encouraging and perhaps the message is we have to continue to struggle for our rights and social justice. John Lewis is our beacon of hope in this trying time.

Great book, it will open your eyes!

Well worth reading. John Lewis is a true American hero who helped make us a better country and is still working towards that today. An eye opening account of the civil rights movement.

Historical and Surprising Memoir

This book was an excellent review of the well known facts re: the demonstrations and walks for civil rights in the 1960's. Surprisingly, the best element of this memoir is the details of most of the voter's rights activities, the dangers for volunteers in the movement and large participation of other religions and races that I had never heard about!

I'm reading John Lewis' graphic novels, March 1 and 2, with 7th and 8th graders, and bought this to build my own background knowledge about John Lewis.

Amazing.

An absolutely incredible and inspiring story. Highly recommend for those looking to learn more about the civil rights movement told from the point of view of one of the greatest men of our time. Stunning first hand account of pivotal movements in the civil rights movement.

A must read about John Lewis

I look so forward to reading this about this wonderful man.
