Poor Attention To Detail
I don't understand the positive reviews here. There's a "shopping list" at the front of the book, listing the basic ingredients you need for the recipes. Great, I think, very handy, and I order all of them online. The first recipe I try is Teriyaki Lamb on page 72. I make sure I have all of the various meat, veg, noodle ingredients needed here too. Then the ingredients arrive and I come to cooking the dish. Page 72 directs me to page 148 for details on making the teriyaki sauce. There I find that it needs 2 tablespoons of sake, *which isn't in the shopping list*. Arrgghh. I'm self-isolating due to cancer, so I can't just pop down to the shops to get a missing ingredient, and we don't keep other alcohol in the house. I'll need to wait a week for the next delivery now. So, I should have probably checked the appendices at the back of the book before ordering, but really the sake should be in the shopping list of basic ingredients at the front. It is after all used in the *very first sauce* in the appendix. It's been missed off. A lot of effort has been spent writing a lot of guff about how great Wagamama is at the front, and not enough time has actually been spent checking the details in the front. What I would like to see: (i.) a full shopping list of all the basic ingredients you need at the front, and (ii.) no need to go and refer to the appendices at the back of the book when making one of the recipes - it's a pain.
At last a recipe for firecracker chicken!
When out shopping in the big city Mrs E. L. Wisty and I are inevitably drawn to Wagamama for lunch. We have had the previous two books for a number of years, but the menus evolve, some dishes vanish, new recipes appear, and in recent times I have been highly predictable when visiting the restaurant by choosing the incendiary but addictive firecracker chicken. I have so wanted to get a recipe for it for ages, and finally that day has arrived. Oh, and there are some other recipes too...
Fantastic !
Bought as a birthday gift for my boyfriend as he enjoys cooking and loves a wagamamas ! This was the first dish he made and it was amazing. It also has a great recipe for their sticky white rice which is easy and always turns out fantastic. We couldn’t really do rice before but we’ve mastered it now. Another thing I like is that it informs you where you can buy the sauces and also has recipes to make them.
Love this book!
Love the recipes! The book is set out to show you how many it serves, list of ingredients and some great pictures. The ingredients are broken down for the main dish, the sauce & garnish, makes it all very clear. I was impressed with the little hints they give you for alternatives to adapt the dishes to vegetarian/vegan diets. I wish that they would have given dome nutritional information for each dish though. Don’t be put off by the sauces, most of them are very quick to make. Most of them require sauces etc that you probably already have in your cupboard. I also liked that they let you know how to store everything & how long it keeps for. They have some great staple recipes such as bang bang cauliflower, wok fried greens, pad thai as well as juice recipes. So pleased with this purchase! I have made a few dishes & so far so good!
Delicious
Delicious recipes but be warned, they take forever and there are so many steps and separate sauces you need to make for the recipe (or at least for the couple I’ve tried to far). Everything I’ve made so far has been super yummy but definitely not a quick midweek meal!
Good book, not quite like the food in restaurant though
I mainly bought this book for the Katsu Curry recipe. One of my favourite Wagamama menu choices and the idea of making it at home was a no-brainer. That said, i followed the recipes to the letter yet it was a noticably different flavour to the sauce you have in the restaurant. I guess it seems obvious they arent going to want you to make at home what they do in restaurant but it seems a bit pointless having a recipe for something then! This said the book is actually quite good and the katsu curry recipe itself is still nice. There were also some other recipes we've used from it so it was actually a good buy still. Just the recipe not being exact knocks a star off!
Best recipe book bought so far, and we’ve bought lots
Haven’t found anything we dislike yet but Firecracker chicken/prawn, wok-fried greens, bang bang cauliflower and short rib ramen are just amazing!
Waga at home = always happy
Fantastic book with so many recipes zof the restaurants favourite dishes plus many others I've not seen on the menu before. It includes shopping lists and lists of substitution items which is great for making sure you can still follow the recipes. The instructions are easy to follow.
Great cookbook
Includes a lot of the Wagamamas current recipes with very simple how to’s for different components of the dishes, eg if you just want to make a sauce there’s the recipes for that separately. Please be aware that some recipes will have components of the same recipes on different pages which it directs you too. This wasn’t a problem for me as it always tells you which page to go to but this may be irritating for others. This is perfect for the Wagamamas fan to make your own food at home and widen your cooking skills
Recipes have not been proof read
This book has clearly not been proof-read. The recipe for Chicken and Prawn Pad Thai is flawed - it calls for boneless and skinless chicken thighs but it does not specify how it should be prepped in the recipe. Instead it reads as if you’re supposed to cook the chicken as one piece. There is also a typo in the recipe in the second paragraph, so it looks like the oil has to be seasoned. It’s not as if the instructions are long. Not impressed.

The instructions for cooking rice are gibberish.
To make rice the perfect way, according to the book, "it is important that the ratio of rice to water is correct and, as a rule, this ratio is 2:3." It then goes on to say that to make short grain or Thai Jasmine rice, you need 180g of rice and 540ml (which, thanks to the magic of the metric system, can easily be converted to 540g) of water. Unless my calculator has gone very wrong, that is not 2:3. It is 1:3, or 2:6 if you prefer. For basmati rice, we move from a mixture of weight and volume in the instructions, to volume only, but we leave the metric system and use cups. 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water. Again, not really 2:3 is it? 1 cup is 237ml, so perhaps only very hungry people can have basmati rice, as that is a much bigger portion than the short grain recipe. For brown rice (which generally needs more water) the amounts and proportions are the same as for basmati. No, I don't understand any of it either. So far I have made two recipes from this book (not rice, I used the guides on the box of rice). Neither turned out very well. Fortunately I bought the book when it was reduced to 99p. Still, that was 99p too much.
Little disappointing
Nice to have the wagamama recipes but they do not have enough detail and we have learnt that you need to simmer things for a bit to allow them to thicken but this is not mentioned in the recipe. Needs to be better written for the home cooks
Easy to follow
Brilliant book, Wagamama made easy
Same ole same ole
Have two other wag books this is nothing new
Highly recommended
Fabulous recipes. Super fast delivery
A true revelation.
I bought this book as a Christmas present for my mum with some trepidation as previously, I suspect, she thought that Japanese cooking was all about raw fish, and I couldn't even entice her into a good ramen bar, let alone encourage her to try some dishes at home. But this book has been a revelation to all of us, and has resulted directly in countless tasty meals being prepared. She was a bit uncertain at first, the salads at the start seeming too exotic to tickle her tastebuds, but once past them the vast majority of recipes have been wonderful. Having visited Japan myself I know how important fresh and flavorsome ingredients are and it is great being able to have Japanese inspired dishes in a home cooked setting. The only recipe I would really give a miss is the short rib ramen, Where what meat was left after its cooking was slightly too salty. Also, I would love to see a recipe for Tomkotsu ramen, though I accept that simmering broth for eighteen hours might be beyond most home cooks. Overall though, this was truly the hit of the second lockdown in our household.
Feed Your Soul Wagamama book good but labour intensive
Feed Your Soul cookbook is a successful format with useful photography. The structure of the book is helpful with sauce, dips and marinades recipes at the back of the book separate from the main recipes. I cook a great deal of different cuisines but I found many of these dishes very labour intensive; certainly you can not knock up many of these dishes quickly, a great deal more investment is required. In addition, in our current covid climate it can be challenging to find some of the ingredients. Definitely prefer the first cook boobook, "The Wagamama Cookbook" but love all things Wagamama's.
Great book
I recieved this book as a Christmas present from my brother after telling him what to get me. So far I have only made the firecracker prawn, which I also did a chicken version for the hubby and it was delicious, I don't know if it taste like it does in wagamma as I never been. A great book which is easy to follow, the ingredients can be sourced from my local asian supermarket and also via here so it wasn't an issue with that. A good buy and recommended if you want to try new culinary skills.
Not accurate recipes
I wouldn't recommend this book. The recipes are clearly not fully disclosed and the quality of the recipes are not as expected. Very limited selection of authentic Japanese cuisine recipes. The pictures are good, but don't expect your meal will turn like them.
Learning to Cook the Food I love
I'm not a good cook, I'll fully admit that, I like to have clear recipes and instructions available to me Before I attempt to cook anything which is why in lockdown its been nice buy this book and to cook the foods I like at Wagamama's but made by my own two hands. The Book is good quality with a Sturdy structure so it won't get tore up or spoiled unless you were to deliberately wreck it, and the instructions in the book are clear and helpful with advice on where to buy certain specialist ingredients and sauces as well as the Recipes which are easy to follow even for a novice like myself. definitely worth getting if you love Asian cuisine - especially so if you love Wagamama's, its been a great way to help me Learn to Cook the Food I love.
Student recipient loves it!
One of the grandchildren has started university and has experienced Wagamama and loved the experience. However, as a student, finances don't allow her to eat out often. I gave her this book for Christmas and she's asked her mother to add some food items to the grocery order so that she can make some of the recipes.
10/10 would Wagamama again
I’ve only been to Wagamama once. Let me tell you, I LOVED it. Apart from the part where you share a bench with strangers! Anyway this is a review of the recipe book, not of the restaurant. The recipes are easy to understand and taste fantastic once completed - particularly the Katsu Chicken! My little cheat is to use crushed up weetabix instead of breadcrumbs, easy peasy! 10/10 would katsu again!
The best cooking book!!!
The recipes are great!! They all have a very refreshing clean taste. The recipes do take time to make but they are so worth it! Although for some of the recipes you can pre-make the sauces etc and store them in the fridge which allows you to speed up the process. Another thing to add is that some of the ingredients are a bit hard to find, they are not common household items, you defo need to check/buy the ingredients before cooking. But overall this is a great cooking book especially if you enjoy cooking and trying new exotic recipes.
No list of all recipes to refer to
Why in the name of all that is sensible does this massive book NOT contain a contents page with all the recipes in the book listed? Bloody ridiculous.... Apart from that, actually it also needs a book mark.
Great book
I have used this book to make a few recipes and have loved every single one I have made. They taste so good and are easy to follow. Once you have the main ingredients then you can make the majority of these recipes in this book.
Brilliant
Really love the Wagamamas cookbook. Got some of the classic dishes in there as well as some different ones too. Some of the dishes can be quite complex to make with lots of different pages for different parts of the dishes so if you want something quick and easy it’s not for you but if you aren’t absolutely go for this book.
Taste just like the real deal!
Bought this book for my partner for Christmas. He loves Japanese food. Collectively we have used the book quite a few times since and the recipes are so good! They taste exactly like the Wagamama's dishes; I was so impressed. I was especially impressed with the sauce recipes at the back of the book as it’s not always easy finding the sauces in the supermarkets!
What a waste of time.
Sorry this might suit millennials down to a tee, however wishy washy soup that looks like its come out of a commode really needs to be examined. It will be great when we can frequent places like Wagamas again, but please don't produce a cook book as we already miss someone cooking delicious food.
Lovely book! It worth buying it!
Well the book was late coming...like 3 weeks late but I know in the site we are now it couldn't come so early 😁 but at list it came, even that was late I didnt want to cancel the order, as was a gift for my hubby and he completely loved it, as he is a chef and we love wagamama 'a food.... the book itself is so nice, the cover is nice quality also ❤. Thank you for delivering it to us. Hope you safe
Good cookbook whilst in lockdown
Yum. We have tried 4 recipes so far. Chicken Katsu, chicken donburi, char Han and pad Thai. All have been a great success. We have also followed their recipe for ‘perfect rice’ but that has been less successful.
Loads of delicious recipes!
Bought this in the Black Friday sale! Really excellent, loads of delicious looking recipes. Just need to head out and find an Asian supermarket to get some of the essentials. It’s great that is has a section dedicated to alternatives incase you can’t find the authentic ingredients.
Amazing book
When you start off the evening and you have engulfed your wife in a cuddle and she gets a full frontal gasp of your fish broth breath, this may not have been the BEST book to try in the bedroom. And apparently sipping on a hot mug of freshly made miso soup does not provide the erotic sounds I was going for. It’s all well and good providing delicious powerful aphrodisiac recipes such as tama squid but when the wife turns out to be allergic and spewing in her handbag, it no longer has the desired effect. Recipes themselves, banging.
Looks really good
I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend for Christmas because he (and I) love Wagamama food, but I don't like the atmosphere - it's too loud and cramped for me. Just a quick look through tells me it was worthwhile. Looks like a great selection of recipes.
Lovely
My daughter loves Wagamama's and ergo she loves this book, we have had a number of dishes so far and they are easy to follow and produce replica dishes to the restaurant. lots of unusual ingredients which take some finding and cost the earth but worth it.
COOKERY
Interesting book, such recipes do-able but many ingredients difficult to obtain in the UK unless you have an Asian supermarket. Tried some, slight substitution of ingredients, but made a change to try something new. Explanations are quite good however!
Bon Appetite!
We loved eating at Wagamama’s pre-Covid so to see this for sale was fab! Easy to follow recipes and tasty meals this is a must for anyone who enjoys cooking! So good - we bought it again as a gift tor friends. Bon appetite!
Great book, very poor delivery experience
Very good book, love eating at Wagamama's restaurants, this book brings the experience home, clear and straight forward instructions. Although - very poor delivery by Amazon, my front door is three feet from an open public pathway with high footfall, we are usually home due to being covid isolating pensioners yet 2 of 3 Amazon delivery drivers choose to leave my parcels at the door without ringing the bell, they could be there for days - or maybe not, depending on who walks by. My parcel tracking always states "handed to resident" ?????
Well made and presented book
A nicely presented book which follows the Wagamama theme of enticing photos of the food, clear text and easy to follow instructions. This was bought as a gift but after having a quick skim of it, I might have to buy another myself! Overall a good recipe book for people wanting to try out new recipes or ones that they know and love from Wagamama.
A really substantial cookbook.
A really substantial cookbook, a lot fatter than I had imagined it would be, full of recipes and information. I bought it as a gift for someone who loves going to Wagamama's, so they will be fascinated to try out the actual recipes.
Brilliant! Easy to follow and delicious recipes.
I bought this as a treat for myself as it was on offer for £8, but honestly I would pay full price for this book. I just made my first recipe from it (firecracker chicken with sticky white rice). It was so delicious! I really struggle with getting Asian dishes to taste how I want them to but this book is so helpful, it explains flavour notes, key staples for your cupboard, where to buy them, substitutes for them. I’m so happy I bought this!
Worth the price and excellent recipes
I absolutely adore the food from Wagamama so this cookbook seemed like a no brainier and perfect gift. I have actually bought this item twice, once for my own use and due to loving it so much bought it as a gift for a friend.
Great looking book
Bought as a gift ... looks really good! Ingredients for sauces are given in one section so hot those ingredients as well
Stuck in lockdown and crave a Waggas?
This is a perfect book for anyone who loves Wagamamas but might.... oh, I don't know... be stuck in a national lockdown! It has all their recipes, and their secret techniques to make a meal that tastes like the real thing!
Fascinating
Interesting recipes well described and illustrated . On my Kindle app on my IPad I found I couldn’t dip in and out and I don’t think I was able to retain so much detail. I’d like to be able to pop in and out of the book.
£20 at Wagamamas
A Brilliant book, almost half the price of buying it from Wagamama’s
Well presented interesting recipe book
Arrived on time, well packaged. Good looking, well bound book, with loads of interesting recipes. I bought this as a present for my son who loves Wagamama food and enjoys cooking, a win win I think.
Great Book with some Great Wagamama classics!
I love Wagamama, so to be able to make their recipes at home is great. Not for the most novice of cooks admittedly but the recipes are tasty. A good book to have in your collection!
Not the same recipes as the restaurant
Lovely presentation. However I purchased this purely for the Katsu curry sauce recipe.. the recipe does not even taste similar - disappointed
Cook your favourite Wagamama dishes at home
I love Wagamama and it Is great to try out my favourite recipes, firecracker chicken and Bang Bang cauliflower etc during the lockdown. Recipes are simple and easy to follow. 2 complaints in the Kindle version. No proper contents page makes it fiddly to navigate and limited ingredient swaps.
Some true to wagas but some not so much
Absolutely love Wagas so thought this would be great however some recipes miss the mark a bit. The Pad Thai was a bit meh (not sure if it was me lol) however the Katsu Curry was 10/10. Some very true to wagas recipes and others not so much.
Great!
Has lots of great recepies for the wagamumas restaurant - great for lockdown! Has a really useful substitution page in the front where it tells you things you can swap the more obscure ingredients for.
Good
The book has good recipes in it. Very good tips and help. Only problem is some of these recipes are difficult to get at the supermarket. But aside from that brilliant.
They have the recipe for katsu curry
Like many people, I really just wanted to recipe for chicken katsu curry. I make it in batches and freeze it. It always brings a smile to my partners face.
Want your partner to cook?!
This book convinced my fiancé that she did indeed like cooking! And now she likes cooking all the time! She's a big fan of Wagamamas! And I'm a big fan of coming home to dinner on the table 😂
All most but not quite
This is a great book but sadly some of the recipes are wrong. Specifically the tempura mix. I think it might be a typo. Most of the other recipes are great.
You'll enjoy if you like Wagamamas
Book is great! Unfortunately mine came a little bit damaged but not enough to make me want to return it, it's clearly just been a bit battered in the warehouse. Has some great recipes in it and I look forward to using it!
Somerhing that taste differrent
I like this book and is added to my cookery book collection. Brilliant hardcover. Contains good receipies for different types of noodles. I love noodles and its just good to try something different at home.
My guy loves it ❤️
Got this for my fella who is still recovering from an ED but wants to get excited about food, loves Asian cooking and got so inspired about cooking new dishes when looking through these recipes. Gives you substitutes for ingredients if you can't obtain things like mooli etc. Fantastic book ❤️
Beautiful book with delicious looking recipes
Bought for my sister’s birthday as she loves cooking and really wanted this book. Beautiful book, fabulous recipes... I now want a copy for myself!
If you love food and cooking?
If you love food and cooking? gotta try this.
Great boo and recipes
Great book with some favourites from Wagamama restaurants. Easy to follow recipes and also features on some dishes. Recommended
Very good
Easy to follow recipes, ingredients are easy to find too. I’ve made a few dishes already, and they’re all so delicious so far
True to the Wagamama menu when published
I have tried to recreate a few of my favourite dishes from the Wagamama menu during lockdown using this book, including the chilli squid, teriyaki lamb noodles and yaki udon. All went down fantastically in my house and I look forward to trying the others
Awesome
Great book with the recipes In and extra content, for any Wagamama lover it’s perfect and the price is amazing to as its £20 in the restaurant
Seriously just go to your local Wag!
Got this in lockdown to cure my wagamama cravings. Pita ingredients to source, recipes don't produce the food your accustomed to. Save your money and just visit your local wagamama when its open, you'll save money and time.
An instant hit
An instant hit. I have spent a fortune on new ingredients but that is ok, I will be dipping into the recipes again.
Well written recipes for delicious dinners
Fantastically delicious recipes. Some recipes have a lot of steps to follow (even recipes for ingredients of other recipes!) and difficult ingredients to find but there are some simpler dishes and it's well worth it for special meals.
Tasty Recipes
Delicious recipes, but be warned: they take ages to prepare and require a lot of steps and multiple sauces. Everything I've made so far has been fantastic, but it's not a quick weeknight meal.
tasty but time-consuming
Everything we've made so far has been tasty. However the terms "rapid" or "simple" are not appropriate descriptors. These recipes can be quite long, with some requiring multiple sauces and time. Very specialised ingredients too - sainsburys doesn't stock Sake, for example.
A new favorite cookery book
A wonderful addition to the other Wagamama cookery books. We have chicken wings to make the Korean wings tonight! The book was in excellent condition and well packaged.
A great book for foodies
A very good quality glossy book. It made an excellent gift. Fast and efficient delivery service.
Food for thought
Have loads of cook books but this one is probably the only one I have actually used! Great recipes and not too complicated
looks good
recipes very good but with so many ingredients not actually tried any yet. hopefully this weekend
Brilliant
Soooo good to get my favorite dishes specified in text for me to re-create. Great addition to my kitchen.
Lovely book
Excellent, you won't need any other noodle book. Easy recipes to follow, with 'swaps' in.
Good book and great price.
Great book. Loads of good recipes and lovely colour photos. Great for a hearty to healthy dishes.
Good recipes
Great book, the first recipe I tried when it arrived was the chicken and prawn pad thai. Very tasty
Really good, easy to follow.
Love this book. Have made gyoza from scratch, katsu, ramen and other things so far.
Good recipes
Excellent book, I now have the whole collection can't wait to try out the new recipes
Amazing
Great book for super tasty dishes. Easy to follow. Lots of good information about the ingredients and the methods. Love this book.
IMO the best by far.
Wonderful quality book. Full of fantastic information. I’ve got all the Wagamama books & this is the best by far. IMO Great vfm
Love this book
Love this book. Instructions easy to follow. Has great photos of the dishes
Read and then order online!
Bought as a gift. All it does is make my niece want to order takeaway from Wagamama!
Great!
Better than the first book - more family friendly and better layout.
Great hardback book
Not a big book, smaller than A4; quality binder, good recipes .
Mouth wateringly wonder
Easy to follow instructions. Some wonderful dishes. Lovely book
Great gift for foodies
Bought as a gift. They really like it and have already made some of the recipes.
Worth it even if you have the earlier ones
I have two earlier Wagamama books, but this is so much better - simpler recipes that are a touch more like what you get in the restaurant.
Great gift
Good quality. Perfect gift and easy to follow recipes.
Yummy
Great recipes, really easy to make. I would recommend this book.
Great recipies
Prompt delivery. Bought as a gift. Wide range of recipies with colourful pictures. As expected and pleased with purchase.
Great Book!
Great book. Can’t wait to try out the recipes. Got one for my son too. He loves to cook especially Japanese/Chinese dishes.
Fabulous
My 2nd Wagamma book and as with the first , excellent.
Some nice recipes
Bought for my boyfriend - he is yet to use and is just living on his shelf in his kitchen.. so not such what to make of that considering he normally loves making this kind of food! Hope he reaches for it one day
Great price
Half the normal price, quick delivery good product
Love this cook book
Has some lovely recipes and easy to follow
Beautiful book
Was a Christmas gift and my husband loves it
Received with great thanks
Brought as a gift and has been well used
Can't wait to start cooking
