The popular Curry Hotel continues to thrive in 1929 as more visitors come to Alaska and venture into the massive national park surrounding Denali. Recent graduate Thomas Smith has returned to the hotel and the people he considers family. But when a woman naturalist comes to fill the open position and he must work with her, everything becomes complicated.
The summer brings unexpected guests and trouble to Curry. With his reputation at stake, will Thomas be able to protect Tayler from the danger that follows?

heart gripping conclusion!
In this final installation, we get to enjoy seeing some exciting new adventures for a young woman named Taylor and what comes of some of those we have wondered about from the beginning of the series. I love novels set in Alaska even though I have never been there nor studied about the state or people. I wonder if it is the various wildlife that is there or the vast spaces where no one lives. Whatever draws me to stories like this, I am grateful authors write them! Taylor is a young woman in the early 1900s who was thought to travel a certain path of expectations from both family and society. However, Taylor is a woman who longs to travel, study, grow in her faith and be free to experience the great outdoors. While working in Yellowstone Park, she loses her father and her mother charts a dangerous course that is against what her husband desired. Those who pay the price are Taylor and her brother Joshua, but there is hope that their mother will soften her heart and heal from the loss of her husband. Taylor meets Thomas who works at the Curry Hotel and what ensues is friendship and the rollercoaster ride all relationships travel, especially at the beginning. Readers who have read the other books in the series, In the Shadow of Denali and Out of the Ashes, will once again be entertained through the actions and at times antics of characters we have come to enjoy. The series draws readers into a fictional world based on some facts from history and that makes it all the more fun to read! Each book could be read as a standalone. However, the characters grow, and some new ones are introduced in book two that all come together in this final installment. If you haven’t read the books yet, please do so as they are filled with a reflection of history, faith, romance and adventure. Then, maybe share them with family or friends when you’re done so they can enjoy them as well!
What a finale!!!
Tracie Peterson & Kimberley Woodhouse have written another outstanding story. The third book in The Heart of Alaska trilogy was perfect!!! This novel could be a stand alone, as lots of back story was given. If the first two books have been read, you are immersed with the characters you know & love. The way these ladies draw you into the lives of the characters, you feel you are right there at the base on Denali. The themes of redemtion and forgiveness are woven through the story over and over. Something everyone needs. I loved the way they brought in Scripture, hymns and sermons; naturally and smoothly. Three romances, too. Great job, ladies. Another winner.
Three men find love in the Alaskan wilderness.
Enjoyed being back in Curry again. Thomas and Tayler story was really sweet. Collette and Matthew story was kind of quick. So happy that Margaret found love again with Daniel. All of these couples had trust issues to get through. But with God and their love that grew All came out well.Looking forward to reading more by these authors.
Excellent
This book was not predictable and kept my interest throughout. I was sad that this was the final book in the series, but it was very well done. This book would appeal to readers who like adventure and romance in a Christ-like atmosphere. A story of forgiveness and God’s love.
Loved each page
I love entering history and imaging everything that took place around that era I love that people of the past and today deal with many of the same things. It is most wonderful the love of the Lord
I loved this last book in the series
Tayler and Thomas had a wonderful story. It was full of drama, suspense, lies and deception, and truth. And of course love. I enjoyed reading about characters from previous books in the series.
Great series about Curry Alaska
Another great read that continues the Curry Hotel adventures with Cassidy, Allan, Thomas and the others. Entertaining, great story lines, keeps your interest.... fun summer read!
Book 3.
This third book didn’t disappoint. I love the characters in this series. I recommend this series to all my friends and family. Just wish it would keep going. Thank you. Tracy
Great read
Once again the adventure and romance abound in the third book of The Heart of Alaska series. It is a realistic work of fiction and brings to mind so many memories of growing up in Alaska. Thank for this great read.
Awesome series
This was the third book in the series. Traci e and Kim are great authors and this novel is a fun read and learning about history of Curry Alaska.

Excellent series, especially this book. I highly recommend it.
Great exciting historical story
It was great how book three continued the story. The thing i wish most was for there to be a volume 4.

Book Review
Loved the speed in which book was delivered. Already read it and so good!
LOVE this whole series!!
I'm so thrilled that Thomas finally got his love story! Without spoiling any of the other wonderful lovey moments, I'm overjoyed that he wasn't the only one. The saddest thing about finishing this novel was that it was the end of the series and I'm not ready to let all of the wonderful characters go. The authors have stated that each of the books in this series can be read as standalones if you want, and while I agree they could, if you fully want to be able to appreciate this last one for what it is then I'd recommend starting from the beginning. It didn't take me long to adore Tayler's character. My heart went out to her as she struck out on her own with no real support system behind her. Being not only a woman but a short woman in the wild landscape of Alaska, made it that much more difficult for her to be taken seriously. As someone even shorter than her, I resonated with many of the "short girl" sentiments and actively cheered her on. If there was ever a villain that made my blood boil, Emerson is certainly one of them! I tried valiantly not to wish harm on him so that he couldn't hurt Tayler. I may or may not have found myself actually praying for him that he needed to find Jesus before remembering he wasn't a real person. 😂 I think my favorite thing about this entire series was how the people of Curry evolved into a real family. Isn't that one of the beautiful things about the family of Christ? While Jesus is the only one who can truly heal our broken hearts, we are given fellowship with others as a gift as well. Thomas was an orphan, Mrs. Johnson lost her whole family, Cassidy lost her mother, and even more broken relationships existed. Yet through faith in Christ and a whole lot of encouragement, the family that was created was a beautiful picture of what love is all about. I honestly don't think I can recommend this series enough. This is one that I know is going to stay with me for a very long time. I never thought I could read a book that would make me love the setting of Alaska, but I've found a series that has done just that. (Although, I'm sure it helps that the stories took place in the summer months). If you haven't read it yet you need to go remedy that.
A fitting close to a superb series!
This is the concluding story in The Heart of Alaska series by Kimberley Woodhouse and Tracie Peterson, bringing the series to a fitting close. It is bittersweet, for while Under the Midnight Sun adds a fine story to the series, we must say goodbye to dear friends Cassidy, Allan, John, Thomas, Collette, the list goes on – and now Tayler. Firstly and importantly, Under the Midnight Sun is an enjoyable story. The life lessons embedded in the unfolding narrative do not seem overly contrived or ponderously labored; yet the story drives home several truths – a cavalier promise or action in the confusing time of adolescence may haunt one for years to come – a selfish and sinister motive for leveraging an ill-advised marriage upon another person contaminates the purpose and meaning of the divine institution – a relationship that begins with harshness and hostility like Elizabeth’s and Daniel’s may in time morph into a beautiful, harmonious bond – a Christlike spirit and God-centered life like Tayler’s is unerringly the best course to pursue, even amid potentially calamitous consequences. And so ends a superb series. Besides parting with new friends, we leave a beatific setting – spectacularly lovely Alaska, Denali, and the historic Curry Hotel; but a warm place remains in our hearts and memory. I love the heartwarming dedication of the story to Jackie Hale, mother of the real Cassidy and Tayler, for it shares with the reader a glimpse of a deep abiding love between friends in the richest meaning of the word.
awesome conclusion to this great trilogy
Unless you read a lot of fiction, you may not understand getting attached to fictional characters....but it happens, especially with a series. In the first book of this trilogy, the authors introduce the then late teens Thomas, a likable clumsy and gangly orphan. He had a crush on the main female character of book #1, but she had other romantic interests, and he was like a brother. The authors may not have planned it, but Thomas became the most liked character of the series, not just by me, but by other readers. This.....finally....is his story. Words can be overused at times, and some words used to exaggerate. Awesome may be a word that is overused, but is not an exaggeration for this book. It is no surprise, as this was a great series. What's to like? The characters: There is the already mentioned Thomas, who has been a focused on in the other books, but becomes one of the two main characters in this story. He has to be the most likable person in these books, and there have been several. Then there is the female protagonist, Tayler, trying to make it as a woman in a man's world, and getting push-back from the young college graduate, Thomas. The budding attraction between these two who rub each other wrong for a lot of the time is enjoyable and humorous. Others from the previous two books are back, including the grumpy head of the hotel kitchen, Mrs Johnson, and her two would be suitors.....whose antics had me laughing out loud. The suspense: This isn't suspenseful as the books I usually read, but it does have its suspenseful moments and its not-so-nice guys making an appearance. I always enjoy that in a book. The romance: I may be a bachelor, but I am a romantic at heart, and have come to enjoy romance in a book, as long as it is done right and not overly gushy or unrealistic. There were actually three romances going on in this book, one that was downright hilarious (mentioned already). The main one involved the hero and heroine of the story, and it was also humorous at times, and very entertaining. I admit I was cheering on Thomas, and hoping and figuring he would get the girl. Spoiler: he does. Christian content: I have never understood Christian fiction authors who avoid Christian content, or readers who don't like it - and both exist. Woodhouse and Peterson are not afraid to go there, and they go there very well in this book. The main takeaway in that area from this book is forgiveness. Via a fictional preacher, they tackle that subject well enough that I had to say "ouch". It is an area I need help in, and am undoubtedly alone in. Plot and setting: This book and series was set in the early 1900's at the Curry Hotel, an actual hotel near a railroad and Mount Denali. The authors did a tremendous job of describing the hotel, mountain, and other areas. I feel it is a mark of a great author who can paint a great picture with words and cause the reader to feel they are stepping into the story and seeing what the fictional characters are seeing. And that happened in this book, and the previous two. It caused me to wish I could visit that area some day. The Heart of Alaska was a great read, and a true treat to enjoy. I was sad to see it end, but Under the Midnight Sun brought the series to a truly great and satisfying end, and left the recurring characters in a great place to end the book. I definitely recommend this book, and the whole series. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Beautiful ending to a wonderful series
I love this book- this series. Wow! If you enjoy historical romance with a deep spiritual message, The Heart of Alaska series needs to be at the top of your TBR. My heart has been joined to the little Curry Hotel family and I’m so sad their stories have ended. Under the Midnight Sun is the perfect ending and the perfect way to wrap up this wonderful series. My heart was touched by the spiritual lessons each of the characters have learned along the way. Their struggles as they try to live their Christian lives makes them feel so real and so relatable. You feel for them and pull for them, you want to see them succeed and for everything to work out in the end. I loved finally reading the end of Thomas’ story and seeing him finally get his happily ever after. These books have it all- a beautiful romance (sometimes more than one), adventures in the breathtaking wilderness of Alaska, and suspense as a danger lurks just out of sight. I feel like Cassidy is my new best friend! She has a spiritual strength that makes me want to be more like her. These stories have challenged my own faith and walk with the Lord. I can’t recommend these books strongly enough! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. A review was not required. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
She's Run as Far as She Can from Her Past. Will It Still Come Back to Haunt Her?
Alaska in 1929 is an unusual setting for a historical novel, which made this one all the more interesting. I would love to be able to spend time there in person – not just in the stories I read about it! Tayler had a heart for God, and yet she struggled with the changes that had come over her life since her father had died. Changes that eventually led her to flee to Alaska without telling anyone where she had gone. I really appreciated her sensitivity towards God and thought it was sweet when, during a sermon, she was so taken by the truth being shared that she began to pray and focus on what she heard so that she missed hearing the rest of the message that was shared! Thomas is apparently a returning and beloved character from earlier books in the series. There are enough details about his backstory here (presented in an appropriate manner without being an info dump) to make me feel like I wasn’t missing anything as I read this. Though he was slightly awkward around Tayler, he was quite charming. I loved the way he cared so much about her and her reputation that he made a point of never allowing the two of them to be alone together. A strong spiritual thread ran through the story emphasizing the need to make God the focus of our lives, seeking Him more than anything else. This was handled quite well and in a way that didn’t seem forced or preachy. The story was told from the viewpoints of quite a few different characters, not just Tayler’s and Thomas.’ Most of them were necessary as this was not just about the two of them – there were actually three romances in the making. This was done well, without making me lose track of who was who despite the fact that I didn’t have the opportunity read the story straight through. There were a couple of situations in the story that seemed a little far-fetched, and the ending was slightly overdone, but these things didn’t detract from the story enough to earn more than an eye-roll from me. The story was enjoyable and just what I needed. I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Alaska Historical fiction
Tracie and Kimberly are the most amazing authors ever!! I was eagerly awaiting for this story to come out and I was not disappointed!! I enjoyed watching Thomas turn into the young man I knew he could be. He has learned some life lessons along the way. Some were hard and some were experience as well. Just becAuse one person lied about everything doesn't mean the next one will. Thomas soon learns this. Tayler is well ahead of her time as most young women still love the elite group and are still too much in the last century where women were expected to lean on the men instead of going their own way. Her mother and Emerson learn that Taylor is special. And this is what they cannot understand. I love that Taylor know her own mind and loves to work. She soon makes friends along the way. I would love to see Alaska someday. This is what I love about these ladies writing. I'm able to go there and in my imagination I can see what the people are doing and hearing their conversations etc. I did not like Emerson!! Emerson is a spoiled rich brat. But of course that is the way his parents raised him. He is trouble from the very beginning . I think you'll know which way the story will end so I'll not say anything more lol Oh and we can't forget our beloved Mrs.Johnson God rest her soul. Poor woman. I'm saying this because she has hardened her heart and is afraid to love. But I think with his help and some healing along the way, she will be ok too. She's my most favorite character. Along with other readers I had to get to know her too. Underneath she's a softie I love her like my own mother. I strongly recommend this book. It's a part of a series so you'll want to read the first book In the Shadow of Denali. I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley. No compensations were received and all opinions are my own
Set in the Grandeur of Alaska
This is a story of love and its role in setting life's priorities. It is a story of how the love of God and the love of money impact lives in extremely different ways. It is a story of family, both biological family and family built through an even deeper bond, a shared love of Christ. In my devotional reading time recently I read that in today's society many live as if their prayer would be, “Give me this day my daily thrill.” This story reminds us that the greatest thrills come through times of worship, time spent in God's creation, and time spent with the ones we love. While readers who started at the beginning of The Heart of Alaska series likely see this as the continuing story of Thomas Smith, for me joining this series in the third installment, I see it as the story of Tayler Hale, in which Thomas plays a major role. Thomas, raised in an orphanage and then put out to make his own way at age thirteen, knew no family before coming to work at the Curry Hotel in his native Alaska. Tayler Hale, raised in a close knit family, until it fell apart following her father's death, felt abandoned until she ran away to her new job at the Curry in an effort to escape being pulled down by her collapsing family. Both Thomas and Tayler found strength and courage within the family of believers who took them in and loved them. Both demonstrated the remarkable ability to forgive that comes from truly appreciating Christ's work on the cross. I recommend Under the Midnight Sun to those who long to see Christianity in action. May we be inspired to seek ways to become more like Christ. I appreciate receiving this copy from Bethany House through NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation.
Great End to a Fun Series!
I read the first and last book in the Heart of Alaska trilogy. Now I’m compelled to find Book 2 and read the series in its entirety. The setting grabbed me first. The characters enjoy the majestic Alaskan outdoors with plenty of hikes and riverside walks. Then there’s the bustling activity level at the Curry Hotel. The cast of characters wins you over immediately. You'll just want to keep reading to find out how things turn out for them. Just this week, I was reading the devotional publication titled Our Daily Bread. The verse at 1 Thessalonians 5:15 was featured: Here it is: “Always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.” NIV When I read that I thought, “Wow…. this describes how the main characters in “Under the Midnight Sun” behaved exactly. They rallied around each other and offered words of encouragement when needed. When more than a listening ear was needed, they met that need. Sometimes babysitting was needed. At other points, characters tied on aprons and helped prep meals for the Curry Hotel’s many guests. At the story’s close, we see Thomas and Allan go above and beyond to protect Tayler, and allow her to keep working in a job she loves. The generous characters who thought of others thrived. While the unsavory types who were selfish and driven by unworthy ambitions fared miserably. The authors, Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse, state at the opening that this last installment is dedicated to telling Thomas’ story. What a story! We first met Thomas when he was an awkward, young orphan taken in by the Curry Hotel Staff. His mix-up’s and bungled attempts at completing tasks caused eyes to roll and many snickers. In Book 3, Thomas is a mature and caring man. You’ll love how his story ends. Tayler is a smart sophisticated young woman who is blazing her own trail. She is a protagonist to hold in high regard; one that is most deserving of a happy ending! At the conclusion, some story threads come together as expected. More than a few resolve in a manner that will catch you by surprise. I read an advanced reader’s copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.
Very satisfying read
Sometimes the best books are the hardest to review. There are so many things that I loved about this story. The characters were amazing and genuine. So easy to relate to and care for. The writing style of Tracie Peterson is so smooth and covers realistic situations. Kimberly Woodhouse is new-to-me but I'm sure she contributed greatly to increase my reading satisfaction. One can't help but get lost in the story. I think what I enjoyed most about this particular book is the real-life struggles that people go through. The way the authors present the issues and show the reader good Christian ways to get through such situations is exemplary. Tracie is blessed with the ability to share her faith in Jesus through her writing. I can't say enough about how her stories touch my heart. I'm saddened to say good bye to these wonderful characters, especially Thomas. He sure came a long way from the days when he left the orphanage. The setting for this story was exceptional. I've never been to Alaska but feel as though I had a quick visit through these pages. This novel can be easily read as a standalone but I highly recommend starting at the beginning of the series. You won't want to miss anything. I truly loved this book and all the thoughts above are from my heart. Although I was awarded a copy of this book through the publisher it has no bearing on my review.
Loved the characters and storyline in this book
This is an entertaining story that’s set in beautiful Alaska in the year 1929, with the Curry Hotel as the hub of where the action in the story takes place. In this final book of the series, the storyline is mainly focused on the relationship between Thomas and Tayler. Tayler, who grew up in wealth and luxury, loves her job as a naturalist and park guide. Thomas, who was an orphan, grew up at the Curry Hotel and now as a recent college graduate, has returned to begin his career at the hotel. The two meet when Tayler accepts a job at the Curry Hotel to escape a troubling situation with her ex-fiancé. Their relationship has a rocky beginning, and their story is a fun one to follow. All of the characters in this book are very likeable and and fit their place well in the storyline. There’s a strong theme of faith and forgiveness all throughout the storyline. Both Tayler and Thomas have wronged at times in their lives, and as we watch them learn to forgive those who hurt them, there’s an inspiring lesson for us, too. The authors did a great job of pulling everything together into a satisfying end to the series. Even if you have not read the other books in this series, you’ll have no troubling following the story in this one and enjoying it. If you love Christian historical fiction, don’t miss this sweet story by two very talented authors. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Wonderful Book to Start The New Year
I devoured this as it is an excellent conclusion to The Heart of Alaska series. Revisiting the Curry Hotel and the characters we loved was enjoyable. Tayler Hale is the newcomer who has run from her past and she is identifiable and easily fits in with the family atmosphere. There are some unexpected turns that leave you feeling gobsmacked and thinking I didn’t see that one coming. The descriptions of Denali leave you wanting to visit as these authors picturesque details are flawless. I’m sad to see this series end as you feel like you are a part of these characters lives. Highly recommended but be prepared to not wanting to put it down. I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
Journey back to the Curry Hotel!
Alaska has had the siren call of adventure through the ages. In this latest installment Kimberley Woodhouse & Tracie Peterson once again take you right to the heart of Alaska. When love is lost, family members are gone, & life seems to be falling apart, is God still there? Does He still care and have a plan, when nothing seems to be going according to plan? These are questions that Tayler Hale must face. Thomas Smith is an orphan who has become a beloved Curry Hotel employee, yet when he graduates college, where will God send him? Will he stay with the Curry? Or is God leading him on new paths? We also meet up with the fisty head chef, Mrs. Johnson as she wrestles with not one, but two suitors! Find out how it all turns out for yourself in this third and final book at the Curry Hotel. This book could be read as a stand alone, however reading all 3 books in the series helps you place who is who:-) So you are a little more vested in how the courtship of Mrs Johnson goes;-) But don't hesitate to read "Under The Midnight Sun" if you haven't read books 1-2! The authors make it very easy to follow along with the main story line:-) I was given a copy of this book as a gift. All opinions expressed are entirely my own:-)
Wonderful Historical Alaska Romance
I loved this final installment in the Heart of Alaska Series! I am currently planning a trip to Alaska this summer and wish the Curry Hotel was still there. I would so love to see this setting in real life... This is Thomas and Tayler's story, but all of the characters we have come to love from the previous two books are still in attendance and working at the Curry Hotel. This books tells about the circumstances under which naturalist, Tayler Hale, comes to work at the Curry Hotel. The trouble she is running from follows her to the hotel. Poor Thomas has his hands full with trying to protect Tayler and thwarting the flirtatious advances from three high society young ladies while not insulting their parents. It makes for quite a fast moving story and is full of lovely, descriptive details about Alaska. This book could be read as a stand alone, but I highly suggest you read the other two books in the series before you read this one.
Adventure in Alaska
I thoroughly enjoyed the other books in the Heart of Alaska series so I was looking forward to continuing the journey in Alaska. This book did not disappoint as the series comes to a close. The book could also be read as a standalone book without the reader being confused at characters or previous plots. The reader does not get far into the book before they swept into an adventurous plot. Then the reader keeps reading to try to answer the questions that begin to form concerning the characters and deception. The descriptions of the beautiful, wide open spaces in Alaska makes you want to see it for yourself. At the heart of the story, two young people who are searching for the direction God is leading them next in their lives. As new obstacles are thrown in their path, they continue to seek answers. We each hit crossroads and wonder what path we should take so it was definitely realistic and easy to connect to. As they see the new paths, they realize forgiveness is important in order to move forward. This is also a subject readers can connect with as forgiveness can be one of the biggest areas we tend to put off for another day. I would recommend this book as well as other books from both of these authors. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Inspiring and Romantic
A Review of " Under The Midnight Sun" by Tracie Peterson & Kimberley Woodhouse "The Heart of Alaska"--Book Three For those of you who have read Books 1 and 2 of the "Heart of Alaska" series, this Book 3 will indeed be one that you will want to read also. For those of you who haven't yet read this series, hopefully this review will inspire you to do so, for this book and those previous in this series are definately page turners that are full of adventure, romance, godly inspiration, and life events that we can all relate to, plus readers are given a chance to learn about the beautiful state of Alaska and it's wonderful nature and scenery, like the once thriving Curry Hotel and the hightest mountain peak in North America, Denali-"the High One" (Although, in the setting of this story of 1919, Alaska was not yet one of the USA states. It didn't become a US state until 1959) In this Book 3 "Under The Midnight Sun" we journey along the with Tayler Hale on her trail of life that is full of adventure quite unlike that of women living in 1919 high society. Tayler is more of a "tomboy" than a social butterfly, much to her mother's unliking, yet encouraged by her father, she becomes a very learned Naturalist who is independant, preferring to work instead of rely on her family's fortune. Though Tayler is faced with dealing with a tragic turns of events in her family, whom she always held dear, and with a fiance whom proved un-faithful, she remains strong in her faith and relies on God's strength to carry her through difficult days and relationships that threaten her future. It is inspiring to read of her devotion to Christ and her faithfulness to prayer and trust in the Lord's leading as Tayler let's nothing stop her from moving towards the doors of opportunity that God opens for her. I hope you will choose to read this book to find out where God leads Tayler and to experience the people, places and relationships He brings into her life, ultimately for good, as He always does for those who trust in Him and seek His guidance. I received this book as a free gift from Tracie Peterson, for winning one of her contest's on Facebook. I was not obligated to write a positive review, but I chose to do so because I really enjoyed reading this book. --Leona J. Atkinson
Never would have guessed there were two authors
Under the Midnight Sun is a book that shows just how far some people are willing to go when they're afraid. They will lie, cheat, and steal in order to maintain their farce and they don't care who goes down in the process so long as they can get what they want. Given an array of viewpoints throughout the story allows the reader to see different aspects of the land and deeper insights into characters we might not hear from otherwise. Since I have not read the rest of the books in this series, I don't know them as well as I would like, but I felt this book was a perfect ending to the series while managing to stand alone. I love that I could not tell which author wrote which part of the book. Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse created a seamless story that was well told and beautifully expressed. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending and grateful these two authors chose to step outside the typical conflict to make a better story. The characters were well-developed and I appreciated the deep insight and thoughtful conversations among the staff and friends who felt like family. I requested a copy of this book from NetGalley. Curry Hotel, in the heart of Denali National Park.
In the last book in the Heart of Alaska series, it’s 1929 and Tayler Hale is trying to run away from her problems after her dad’s death, her ex-fiancé Elliott’s indiscretions, yet his insistence on still planning a wedding, and her mom’s transformation into someone Tayler doesn’t even recognize. So off she secretly runs to a new job at the Curry Hotel in the beautiful area surrounding Alaska’s popular Denali Park. There’s a romantic interest with Thomas Smith, some twists and turns with Elliott (turns out you can’t run away from your problems), and she forms some deep friendships with the Curry Hotel staff. But most of all, this book tells of the redemptive love God has for each of us and how we are to demonstrate His love toward others. I found Under the Midnight Sun to be an easy read, yet not easily predictable, as it will keep you intrigued throughout. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive review.
Excellent Elements
Under the Midnight Sun was probably my favorite of this series. There were a lot of interesting elements at play. Tayler's story with her family drama, heartache, and manipulation made a great framework for other intriguing plotlines. Emerson's slimy ways and lies made him a superb villain, and I also liked how he was being pursued by his sins at the same time. It was great to see Thomas' story play out. He was such a respectful gentleman that it really made my heart happy to observe his interactions with Tayler. The aspects of faith woven into the story were really great. Once again, the authors do an excellent job of teaching while still keeping the story interesting. I liked reading about Mrs. Johnson and Collette's romances as well. I understand as the ending in a series that they had to wrap up everything, but I wish that at the end everything hadn't come together on the same day. It felt too quick and thrown together. I would have liked it better if each lady had her moment to shine. Otherwise, I found elements of the ending surprising and enjoyed learning the way everything played out. Overall, it was an entertaining read that kept me interested throughout.
Beautifully Descriptive
Under the Midnight Sun is a very compelling conclusion to The Heart of Alaska series. This third novel in the series is just as beautifully descriptive and entertaining as the first. It was wonderful to meet up with familiar characters, but the novel can enjoyably be read as a stand-alone. As one who appreciates history and loves to travel to the national parks and mountains, I was very pleased by the depth of the authors' historic and topographic research. The tension, anxiety, and friendship they build between Thomas Smith and Tayler Hale, a young socialite with a non traditional career of naturalist, is real and kept me invested in the book. A light element of suspense also presents in the narrative. The descriptive writing has you seeing the splendor of the area in your mind. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Wonderful Story!
I love this well-written story set in beautiful Alaska! I haven't read the first two in the series and didn't feel I needed to in order to enjoy Under the Midnight Sun. Tayler's character is complex and inspiring. For that reason, I'd recommend this book to young adult women; although I am getting ready to retire and she inspired me. The descriptions are lovely and the story line flows well. Female readers will fall in love with Thomas. He's a hardworking, kind-hearted man. And I got tickled over the secondary story of Mrs. Johnson and her suitors. I was a little sad when the book ended, not because the ending was sad but because I wanted to read more. This is a perfect book to snuggle up with on a cold winter day. Get a cup of coffee or tea and a cozy blanket and enjoy. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House via NetGalley. Under the Midnight Sun
UNDER THE MIDNIGHT SUN is the third and final book in this dynamic dual's series, The Heart of Alaska, and fans will want to read In the Shadow of Denali and Out of the Ashes first as they have continuing characters. In this long-awaited story of the sweet bumbling boy fans have grown to love, Thomas has a few more challenges to face. Tayler is running, and with a masculine name in a time period where women were only beginning to find rights, she is hired where she wants to be but they assume she's male until she arrives. She has to prove herself which becomes harder when her past follows her. An awesome faith message, this book had me closing it with a sigh of contentment. I absolutely loved this whole series, but this book outshone them all. Bravo, Woodhouse and Peterson. I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.
Love the Characters and Alaskan Territory
Two of my favorite authors and I’m always glad to read their books. I love the characters and the way the details are written. You feel like you really know these people. I love when I fall in love with the characters and the scenes and people are so real to me. I read a book one time that I really loved the characters and one was dying of consumption. I wanted to ask prayer for him. Yep! The historical details that these two authors put into their books are amazing. I can just picture the Alaskan Territory. If you want to read a wonderful historical fiction book with unforgettable characters and unexpected turns all the while learning about the Alaskan Territory don’t miss this one. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers/authors. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own!
Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse-a match hard to beat!
Take two top-notch authors add the Curry Hotel in 1929 Alaska plus mystery, love and intrigue and you get a series worthy of many kudos! The final novel in the series, Under the Midnight Sun, finds Tayler Hale, mourning the death of her father, while trying to deal with an overbearing mother and suitor she is no longer interested in. When Tayler’s mother and her former fiancé try to force her hand, she responds to an ad to transfer to the Curry Hotel in Alaska. Tayler, a pioneer in the naturalist field, being one of few woman who pursue the career, feels safe at the Curry. Safe enough to begin trusting those around her, becoming a part of the Curry family. Especially one Thomas Smith, himself a naturalist, finds himself conflicted knowing Tayler has the talent and experience to exemplary naturalist, yet he does not trust her nor does he think a female naturalist can do the job as well as a man. I thoroughly enjoyed Under the Midnight Sun, as well as the first to novels in the series. The Heart of Alaska series would be one of those binge worthy series for a cold weekend by the fire, coffee in hand. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and am under no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions therein are solely my own.
Good Ending To This Series
Under the Midnight Sun is book three in The Heart of Alaska series. It was written by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse. There is no need to read the first two books to enjoy this one. Summary: This book finishes off the series, and focusses on the story of Thomas Smith. Thomas has been with the Curry Hotel from the very beginning. The staff is like family to him. Now that he has graduated from college, he is back to resume his duties at the hotel. But something feels different-does he really still belong in Curry? Why does his heart seem so unsettled? Tayler Hale has always enjoyed the great outdoors, and she loves her job as a naturalist at Yellowstone National Park. But, with her father’s death, everything in her family has changed. With constant pressure to marry someone she doesn’t love, Tayler decides to leave no trace of herself behind and heads to Alaska for a new job, and a new adventure. She feels guilty hiding from her family, but it’s what she has to do-isn’t it? My Thoughts: This book was a good conclusion to the series. Although, I do think they could write even more books for this series-there is still plenty of subjects they could cover! Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse make a wonderful writing team, and the story was definitely well-written, interesting, and the cast of characters with all of their quirks really are like one big family-which makes the book more enjoyable to read. There was an underlying message of putting your focus on God and not your circumstances that comes through very well in this book too. My only criticism would be that sometimes the book would switch from one character’s thoughts to another abruptly-making it difficult to determine which character was thinking what. Otherwise, it was a good read. I would like to thank Bethany House for providing me with a digital copy of this book for my unbiased review. Thank you!
A nice story that has good content but lacks in connecting with readers
Under the Midnight Sun by Tracie Peterson & Kimberly Woodhouse Rating: 3 out of 5 stars ______________________________________________________________________________ Story Notes Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse come together to offer the third book in their Heart of Alaska series that includes intrigue, adventure, love and a few lessons in forgiveness. I’ve been reading Tracie Peterson books for about 20 years and have always found them to be really lovely books. And pairing her with other authors usually makes the stories even better. This book fell into the category of a well-written book but while I did enjoy the story line I just couldn’t connect with the characters. They didn’t really come alive for me and that made me sad, given their location and stories to be told. However, others may find that this book is perfect for them and enjoy it much more. Ms. Peterson and Ms. Woodhouse begin their story with a little prologue that gives important backstory to the main characters. Thirteen year old Taylor Hale is on one last summer trip with her father and brother before her brother heads off to college. She is glad to be included but sad to be the one soon left behind at home. Her love for nature in all its wonder is profound and she hopes to one day study it in more detail at a university. For now, however, she will have to be content with what she can learn on her own. She has long admired her brother’s best friend, Emerson, and is surprised when he seeks her out alone during their trip. After declaring himself in love with Tayler, Emerson asks her for a promise to wait for him until they are older and he has finished school. Not knowing any better, Tayler agrees, secretly hoping she will fall in love with him as well. Her promise gives her a brighter outlook on the coming future. Thomas Smith is an orphan looking for a job that will help him earn something to eat. A bit small in build but with a heart filled with determination, the thirteen year old promises himself to do whatever he must to earn his keep. A job working for railroad as an errand/waterboy is welcomely offered to him, and he sets out to make his way in the world. Fast Forward ten years and Tayler is a much wiser and determined young woman. She has achieved her goal of a degree in Botany and has recently been working summers at Yellowstone National Park as a guide and teacher. But with the death of her father and the more demanding ways of her mother, Tayler is unsure of what the future holds. Summoned multiple times a day to converse with her mother about her future, Tayler is most frustrated and ready to leave home. At one time she had hoped to be married to Emerson but his philandering ways had quickly removed any regard or respect she ever held for him. But there are things at work that Tayler doesn’t know and if she is to make her own life as she wishes, she will have to make some difficult decisions. Those decisions will take her to Curry, Alaska in pursuit of a job offering for a new guide and naturalist at a lodge near McKinley National Park. Now if she can only convince the other guides to accept her and her knowledge, she will be most content. Thomas Smith has just graduated from the Alaska Agricultural College and School of Mines with a degree in Geology and is thrilled to return to his home in Curry. He is looking forward to working as a guide for McKinley National Park alongside his adopted family and friends. Discovering that one of the older guides has decided to retire, Thomas recommends requesting a new guide be hired so that the tours and excursions offered will be able to increase. Little does he know that his request will bring the one person guaranteed to make him question his request. Both Thomas and Tayler will have to find ways to work together and accept each others knowledge if they are to both feel at home in Curry. And when some guests begin making things hard for the two of them, they will have to set aside their differences to make sure everyone retains their good name. But Tayler will have more trouble coming when Emerson makes an appearance in Curry, determined to convince her to return to New York to marry him as she had promised years ago. The challenges Thomas and Taylor will face separately and together will bring them into a closer relationship than either of them anticipated, and even give them a chance at forever love. As one can tell, this story has all the wonderful elements that make for a good book. And while I loved parts of it, I just couldn’t find a connection with the characters. It’s hard to write a review that gives credence to the good work of an author while also saying you did not enjoy it. I will say that the lessons of faith and trust that were being taught here were well done and seemed very fitting in their context. And that everyone got what they needed or deserved was a good addition to the story as well. So, I will leave further opinions to other readers to discover if they find more enjoyment in this book than I. Personally, I don’t think this one will go on my “re-read” shelf at all. Hopefully future works by these two authors will be a better read for me. I received this E-book free of charge from Bethany House Publishers via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I will receive no fiscal compensation from either company for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
Absolutely Wonderful
I am always well satisfied after reading a book by Tracie Peterson. I have read many books by her and the attention to historical details and descriptions is magnificent, whether it is scenery, details of fabrics of clothing or authentic speech of the time she never fails. This is the third book in the Heart of Alaska series and she coauthors it with Kimberley Woodhouse. I have read hers as well, on their own and coauthored with Tracie Peterson. I always look forward to their new books as they are automatic reads for me! Now I will admit I haven't read the first two books in this series, which I plan to do as soon as possible but this is a marvelous book all on it's own. I see the book is in memory of Cassidy Faith Hale who has a character named after her. What a wonderful way to memorialize this young girl. It made me cry. It will be hard to get into another book after reading this as I keep thinking about it and the lessons in it. It is better to give than receive, life is so hard do all you can to make it easier on others, forgive x 1 million you will be a better person for it. I loved seeing the bible verses in here, they are so uplifting. Highly recommended but be prepared to read late into the night as you just won't want to put it down. January 1, 2019 publish date. I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. Thank you. All opinions expressed are my own.
Fun book!
Under the Midnight Sun By Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse A title and wealth do not always make for an easy life. Taylor Hale lives up to her tomboy name. She does not pursue the frivolous life that her family desires, instead she becomes one of the first female naturalists. Exploring the nature around her is where she is most at home. If only her life could be that simple, but her first love who broke her heart returns to her life insisting on a future together. A future that involves society and not the forests and wilds of the land she loves. Meanwhile, her family dynamics have been changing following her father’s recent passing and bring confusion as to who she trusts. Running away from a proposal and society Taylor accepts a job in the wilds of Alaska. Although a family of friends meets her in Alaska, she cannot seem to figure out her fellow naturalist. He seems to be displeased with her all the time. Taylor has much to figure out about herself, especially her heart. I enjoyed this book but by the ending, I didn’t feel like the title matched the story. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion which I share here.
Full of fun, adventure and wonderful characters!
I have been a huge fan of both of the authors for quite a while so when I saw they were writing this series together I was very intrigued. I didn’t think they could be better than they already were but boy was I wrong! Ms. Peterson and Ms. Woodhouse are a dynamic duo writing a series that is sure to please readers of most ages. This book has everything that warmed my heart. From the wonderful characters, the rugged and beautiful description of the state of Alaska to the exciting storyline, the authors made me feel as though I was right there with everything that took place throughout the book. It was easy to love and admire Tayler Hale as I watched her become more independent and embrace what made her happy. I couldn’t help loving Thomas Smith and admired his determination to pursue a better life for himself. There was only one character that I really disliked and that was Emerson Pruitt but that was due to the authors creating an opportunistic character that was super easy to strongly dislike. There are a whole slew of guests that visit the Curry Hotel along with the staff that we become acquainted with which is a fun and interesting way to discover what the jobs entail and just how hard the work is. I was expecting one romance but was pleased to see three especially since I liked all of the characters that had romantic feelings towards each other. I also liked the spiritual thread throughout the story with the bits of humor the kitchen staff added. plus the super cute and fun twins! Although this is the third book in the series, it could be read as a standalone but then you’d miss out on getting to know what the characters went through to get to where they are in, Under The Sun. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Good read
I was excited when Netgalley approved me to read this book. The review is not required, but given anyway. I have enjoyed every book I've read by Tracie Peterson. I have not read Kimberley Woodhouse before this. When I first started the book, I was afraid I was not going to enjoy it but kept on anyway. Well, I am so thankful I did. The story(I do not do a synopsis, you can read those when buying) is set in the 1920s in Alaska. It is Christian, but not preachy. By Christian, I mean it shows how a Christian should act and react to things in their lives. It is also part suspense/mystery and part romance. This is part of a series, but I did not read any of the previous books. It didn't seem to matter, but maybe I would have enjoyed this more if I had read others first. I did not like the ending but it would spoil the story to say why other than I felt some things could have been cleared up but were not. The editing was pretty good. It did not detract from my enjoyment at all. I like this book and give it 4 stars out of 5.
Great series
This is book three in The Heart of Alaska series, I would say it is a stand alone book, however you do miss a lot of history of some of the characters in the book if you just jump into this one. You will not have a problem keeping up with what is going on but you will miss some great reads and again history of some of the characters. The focus of this book is on the beautiful, wealthy, independent, Tayler Hale. When Tayler finds her self in a situation she only feels like the answer is to run, she is surprised to find it taking her to Alaska. Tayler must learn to trust God, man. Thomas Smith has been through many changes in his life. When he returns 'home' he is a bit unsettled and must learn to rely on God. Thomas is not sure what to think of Tayler when she first arrives. The sparks and misunderstandings in this book will leave you laughing and shaking your head. I love the 'family' at Curry and the many lessons they all must learn. The many sub characters add so much to this story as well.
Great story of self discovery and forgiveness.
Wealth. Society. Greed. Taylor wanted to get away from them and her family. She had grown up camping and hiking with her father, brother and his friend. A girl after my own heart, she went to college and earned a degree in Botany, then went to work at Yellowstone park as a guide. After her father died, her mother pushed her to marry her brother's friend to unite their fortunes. Since she'd learned the true nature of the man, and her mother was unrelentless, Tylor jumped on an opportunity to go to Curry, Alaska to work. She is perfectly suited for the job, but they were expecting a man. If you read the previous book, you're familiar with the family of the Curry Hotel. You wouldn't need to read the other book first, but you'd be glad that you did. They're a group of special people, centered in their faith in God and Jesus in their lives. A great story of self discovery and forgiveness. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher and NetGalley book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
An Amazing story that really touched my heart
This story is one that I need to read several times a year. It's a story of heart ache, betrayal, turning into mercy and forgiveness. The way the Authors described the beautiful Alaska landscape, made me want to be there to enjoy the view myself. The characters were so believable, but it's the situations that caused the pain and betrayal that really brought home the message that no matter what or how low we go, we are offered God's mercy, grace and forgiveness. I lived the message, I loved the story and I strongly recommend this book. It's book three in the series, so read all of them. I was gifted this book by the publisher for my honest review of this book.
Forgiveness and Hope, Terrific Story!
A wonderful read with so many wonderful characters, an absolutely beautiful setting, and a strong faith theme that I always love in my reads. A rich socialite girl who just wants to be HER. I loved the outdoors growing up...still do. I have much in common with Tayler Hale, except my family has always accepted me for who I am. How hard to be pushed into a cookie cutter mold. All the characters add so much depth to the story as we all have our own issues with which we struggle, yet God is ever faithful. Really enjoyed the forgiveness and hope theme..as well as the setting in Alaska that became home to so many. My daddy was saved while working in Alaska so it will always hold a special place in my heart. I received this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Loved it!
I absolutely loved this book! While I’m sad that it’s over, I think it was a great ending to the series. The characters were excellent. It was like visiting with old friends. It’s nice to see them get their happy endings. I absolutely love the cover on this book! It’s so beautiful! I also enjoyed the different character perspectives throughout the story. I definitely recommend this book! I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
A satisfying romantic ending for a Curry Hotel and Mt. Denali series.
Alaska’s winter cold is left behind as April and then summer arrives at the Curry Hotel and the resulting warmth of the interacting family of the Curry. Expect relationships old and new to blossom in the spring shadow of Denali. Young clumsy Thomas introduced as a minor character in book one of “The Heart of Alaska” series plays a new major role. A new character, Tayler, is being “played” but will have none of it. Over only a few months some dangerous suspense plays out. Even the hotel kitchen gets a good bit “steamier” than normal. Other Curry “family/staff” are updated. Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse have made a good storytelling team as perfect as the real Curry Hotel position in the shadow of the real Mt. Denali. The storyline touches on the Native American history of the land, the country’s ruggedness, the historical era of 1929, and best of all, God-fearing praying folk, ordinary like you and me, who face life challenges and persevere. The story is so heart-warming, I’ll guarantee you’ll not feel a degree of the chilly night air of Alaska. The only chills come from the scenes of danger and suspense. I’ve read each delightful book of this series. I became a part of the Curry family due to the fine writing. I shall miss these fine folk. My media-complimentary copy required no review, but I was so touched by the characters, how could I not share the joy?
great reading
Under the Midnight Sun: The Heart of Alaska Book three is by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse. It is a very interesting book, but is easy to read. The few characters are well-developed and stand on their own. Tayler Hale was a naturalist. As such, she was among the few women at that time who had a college degree. She had worked at Yellowstone for the past summer seasons and was looking forward to getting back to her friends and away from her Mother. Her Mother had taken over the business when her Father died and had antagonized her brother so he had left home leaving her all alone. All her Mother seemed to want was to get Tayler married to Emerson Pruitt. Tayler had known Emerson for many years as her brother’s best friend. When Emerson left for college and she found out he had dated and kissed a number of girls that she dedided he was not the man she would marry. Now Emerson trying to find a way to make her take him back. She is determined not to let him back in her life. When Tayler got to Yellowstone, she felt free. Her maid came to see her bearing a letter from her brother. When Tayler read it she knew she had to leave. An opening for a naturalist came open in Alaska and Tayler took it. Now she just has to prove herself to Thomas, the other hike master and keep Emerson and her Mother from finding her. The book is very good and I hope to read more of Tracie Peterson’s books.
A Wonderful Conclusion
Under the Midnight Sun, by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse, is the conclusion to The Heart of Alaska series. In this book we meet Tayler Hale, one of the first female naturalists. She is employed at Yosemite National Park and much to her mother’s dismay, loves her job. After breaking up with her fiancé, her mother is insistent that she reconsider and marry as has been the plan between the two families for years. Realizing that she needs to be where no one can find her, most of all her mother and former fiancé, she takes a job at the park surrounding Denali, in Alaska. It is here that she meets Thomas Smith, who has recently graduated college and has returned to The Curry Hotel. Thomas is unsure what he thinks of a female working with him and leading tours to destinations around Denali. He had a bad experience with a female while in college that lied about her experience and put others in jeopardy. Thomas soon realizes that Tayler is as experienced as she says she is and is more than capable of working at the park. I am so glad we finally got to learn Thomas’ story, and also go to catch up with the other charcters at The Curry Hotel. I loved learning about Denali in this series. Alaska is a beautiful state with so much history and the authors did a great job relaying a part of this history in this series of books. It is sad to be at the end of this series and I look forward to future books by both authors. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House through NetGalley in exchange for a review. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
A good Historical Romance
racie Peterson is not an author I usually pick up, but I have enjoyed her Alaskan series from the early twentieth century. With an interesting scenery and reoccurring characters, Under the Midnight Sun is an wonderful addition to the series. The story moved at a nice pace and kept my attention the whole time. I enjoyed watching the heroine do a job that wasn't popular for women during the time period. The romance didn't move too fast. It plowed a long slowly, allowing the hero and the heroine to fall in love naturally. Overall, Under the Midnight Sun, is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours with the wonderful outdoors under a warm blanket. I enjoyed this novel. Fans of Karen Barnett should pick this up. I received a complimentary copy of Under the Midnight Sun by Tracie Peterson from Bethany House Publishers, but the opinions stated are all my own.
Wonderful historical romance
With rich historical detail and colorful characters, Under the Midnight Sun swept me away to Alaska in the 1920s. I enjoyed learning more about the Curry Hotel and the development of the area around Denali. Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse have painted a beautiful picture of that area and populated it with endearing and charming characters who come alive on the page. I admired Tayler Hale with her spunk and independence and determination to follow her dreams. Thomas Smith is a wonderful hero with his care and consideration for others and his protective instincts. The writing is clear, concise and easy to read. Threads of faith and forgiveness weave through the story and give it an added uplifting dimension. Although this is the third and last book in The Heart of Alaska series by these authors, it can easily be read as a stand alone book. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Great conclusion to the series!
Wow! What an ending to this series! I’m actually sad because I could so see enough for another book... maybe in the future. I’ve truly enjoyed the series as a whole and loved being able to read Thomas’ story. I can’t wait to see what the next series will be! I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
Fascinating and lovely
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will go back and buy the first two to catch up. I'm a big national park fan anyway, and Denali is one I'm very keen to visit. I loved that the characters jumped from the pages right away and that the baddie was treacherous vs the hero who was conflicted but solidly good. The backdrop of Denali and the workings of the earliest national parks was fascinating and I'd highly recommend this book. I haven't read the collaborative writings of Peterson and Woodhouse but will certainly be correcting that.
Fabulous Historical Fiction
Under the Midnight Sun by Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse is a delightful read! I don’t read as many books of historical fiction as I did in years past, but this book quickly absorbed my attention. It quickly sucks you into an entirely different world and setting. I particularly loved the part set in Alaska. The story and the characters were also well developed and interesting. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a great story. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Adventurous
A perfect ending to the Heart Of Alaska series. I enjoyed watching the growth of the characters in all three books but have to say it was fun to finally see Thomas all grown up and getting his happy ending. I also found the relationship between the widow, Mrs. Johnson and her two suitors very humorous. I appreciate how the authors brought the prestigious Curry Hotel back to life with their careful research and detail. Although it’s been lost to time and only exists in history; I feel like I personally visited Alaska through the pages of their story.
Excellent book!
Wow! This book did not disappoint! "Under the Midnight Sun" is the third book in the series by Kimberley Woodhouse and Tracie Peterson. The story-telling is superb and engaging. I love the history that is woven into the story. It is a wonderful ending to this series, and can also be read as a stand alone book. I highly recommend "Under the Midnight Sun". I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Love and the great outdoors!
Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse always craft an entertaining story with faith running through them. This third book in The Heart of Alaska series can be a stand-alone but I'd say to read the other ones as well since they are wonderful. If you like a story with a spunky, smart heroine and a kind, handsome hero, you'll enjoy this beautiful novel. It's the kind where you think about the characters even after you've finished the book. You'll be hooked from the first page, after all it's love and the great outdoors of Alaska!
10 stars !
This has been the best series I have read in quite a while! Many other books honor God and the Savior Jesus, but few include the very personal prayers with Abba Father. Few include the state of sin and path to redemption as fully presented. There are engaging characters with great depth of character and fascinating historical and environmental details about the early Alaska.
This Trilogy was worth reading...very enjoyable!
This was the first time I have read any books by this author. I liked her style. Easy to read and enjoy. I recommend these 3 volumes. She kept the people involved together in each book. They just didn't fall off the grid. Good story. She brought in diety in a graceful wholesome way. Enjoyable reading particularly in the stress of 2020 has caused. Read it!
A Memorable Experience
I have read a few books by Tracie Peterson over the years and the first thing I always think when remembering a past reading experience with one of her books is how memorable the book was and then I get excited to have another chance to read one of her lovely books. I especially loved the descriptions of the beautiful Alaskan settings for much of the book. The characters seem so real. The actions of the characters are true to life. I look forward to reading more of her books.
Conclusion to the series
This is a wonderful conclusion to the Heart of Alaska series. It was great to see Thomas grow up and become the man he is in this story. Tayler is a very unique character that readers will love. I would encourage readers to research Curry Hotel to read more about its fascinating history. Highly recommended!
Wonderful
I loved this story. I did not want to put this down. Taylor was such a rebel for these times. I loved that she was quite independent. Thomas was great also. He found a family at the hotel and learned to trust in God to help him. I loved the descriptions of Alaska. It seems like a beautiful state. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Loved this series
So many times when I read a series, by the third book it is much weaker than the first. No so with this series. Started strong and remained strong and good to the very end.
Alaska, Final Destination
Another winner for Peterson and Woodhouse. This may be the third book in this series, but I only read this one and it stands by itself. Enjoyable reading through Taylors Hales starting out point in Colorado, to her time in Yellowstone Park, and her final destination in Alaska, where her life really begins. And in the background there is always this threat to unravel the whole thing.
Will her past come back to haunt her?
if you want to read a book that will keep you on your toes wanting to read more then this is the book for you! Set in Alaska 1929, this book not only gives you history about the area but also a story of true love. Being the third book in the series, it can be read alone but I recommend reading all three books so you know who is who and because they are all great stories. This story of Taylor hale keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting to read more, and when the book ends you want to know more. The book is not only thrilling but also shows what love God has for each of us. Hate to see this series end but was fun to see the ending for each character.
Increase your faith
The Scripture and biblical truths in the book are encouraging. You wrestle through doubt with the characters and through God’s wisdom, rejoice when He takes the reigns. The setting of the Curry Hotel and Alaska also point readers to God’s majesty.
A Special Finale to the Trilogy
This was a great ending to a fun series. We get to know some of the previous characters better and meet some new friends!! I enjoyed the bits of scriptural truths that were blended into the story. I definitely recommend this series and these authors.
Wonderful series
I really enjoyed reading this series and was sad for it to end. The characters and storyline are well written. I very much enjoyed learning some history able Alaska as well. The series sure won’t disappoint!!
Alaska
I haven't read the rest of the series, but I liked this book nevertheless. Anything in Alaska always interests me. It's an uplifting warm story. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Wonderful!
Loved this series but this one was my favorite! What a great book!
Another wonderful book by two very good authors.
Excellent sequel to the previous two books in this series. They write very well together, from start to finish. Had opportunity to meet these two ladies, such a joy to hear them speak.
Good
Would recommend. Last of the series. It always ends to soon and short at the end and less detailed but good. I don't like it when a book ends . Oh well.
Wonderful
Thank you once again for a heartwarming story. You spoke so deeply into my heart about forgiveness just at the time I needed to hear it! Wonderful and funny series.
Christian romance in Alaska
A good plot interesting characters plenty of dialogue not quite up to a 5 star but still a good book
Beautiful
First it took me longer to get into this third book more than the other two in this series but it turned out good. And it was a beautiful closure.
Great story
Good to read historical fiction , one almost feels like you are living in the past. This author has good grammar and does not use words that should not be repeated in church or school. The love interest is dealt with in a very acceptable manner and I would recommend this book to anyone.
Running from her past she finds more than a job
Loved the story that flowed through this series. Beautiful faith, family and forgiveness through out the book. Great read
Loved the first three books.v
Now I've read the first three books of Alaska series and I've gotten to love the characters. Maybe you can get together for more of the hotel family.
Beautiful Conclusion
This book wraps us this series with lots of love and a bit of intrigue. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and couldn’t put it down! The Heart of Alaska series is a must read!
Under the Midnight Sun ( The Heart of Alaska Book#3)
This is the third book in this series about family and friends and forgiveness and trust in God and his plans
My Favorite of the Series
I have enjoyed all three of the Heart of Alaska series, but this one is my favorite. Thomas deserved his own story, and this one delivers.
