Joy Booster Ideas

Trust Your Intuition by Jill Sylvester is actually a kindlebook about stronger emotional resilience compared to intuition. However there are still some encouraging ideas that include: ways to be good to yourself everyday, getting out in nature, organizing your space, making some time to do what you love (hobby andor other activity wise) even if it is just a modest slice of time, and more.

Rude and Not Very Helpful

I think the tone of this text is often rude and condescending. The author tries to shame you for being inactive and seems to believe in a philosophy similar to "The Secret" in which positivity can solve all problems. For example, she suggests repeating positive affirmations such as "I am in perfect health." She tries to make you feel bad for being stressed out by focusing on how your stress might negatively impact others' moods. She also tries to convince you of her points by saying things like "I repeat - this works." which is not very convincing. I found some of the tips were helpful but most were quite typical advice and not very innovative. In general, it is very hokey-sounding. I got through the first 17 tips (and practiced them) and I found it slightly helpful for my depression but not very much. Overall I'm disappointed and also offended because it hurt my feelings, like when she puts the word depression is quotation marks because she finds it too clinical.

This book saved my life!

I was so lucky to come across this book during these uncertain times (quarantine, social unrest, etc). I have suffered from depression and anxiety most of my life and this book gave me the tools to work on my personal growth and succeed like never before. The steps and guidelines are so simple, I can't believe it took me this long to figure it out. I now have a better understanding of the root causes of my depression and anxiety and am able to break down and acknowledge my feelings in a way that prevents my anxiety from getting out of control and keeps me from falling back into depression. It all makes sense now, thanks to this book. I would recommend it to ANYONE and EVERYONE, regardless of the state of your mental health!

One of the BEST, and most insightful books I've read in many years ! Jill Sylvester's world assessments, suggestions and tips for personal well being, are super helpful. I found this a charming read, full of relatable info and stories, and immediately benefited from utilizing some of new tips and techniques for my own self management, almost immediately. You will find yourself using these added skills, even before you finish the first few chapters. I HIGHLY recommend this to all, I've already gifted several copies of this books to help others, as well. It's one of the top 3 books I recommend as a gift to anyone, of any age, a better understanding of themselves, and simple easy strategies to stay happier, so that you can feel better, BE better, & share that wealth with others.

I loved this book! These strategies should be taught in school. We all deal with anxiety/depression at some point in our lives. I love that Jill gives personal stories from her own life when she needed and used the methods she outlines in the book. She doesn’t just talk the talk she walks the walk as well. This book is like having a life coach right by your side. This book acts like a workbook and so it’s different than other self- help books. It’s an easy read and doesn’t leave the reader just thinking about how to apply it. I found that each call to action gave my stressful, worried thoughts something to actually do. The author instilled confidence and motivation in me so I could get out there and actually do it (and succeed!) In fact, I find that now I can trust my own intuition enough to expand on a few of the strategies on my own. The author doesn’t employ a “clinical” approach even though she is a therapist. She also exposes her own experience with anxiety and powerlessness. Consequently, her ultimate transformation seems to be the manifestation of this book and is inspiring. Easy to read and very helpful

I like how easy it is to read. The chapters are short and follow the same format. The author provides a description of a topic followed by an action step. Every topic and action step is rooted in counseling best practices that have been shown to enhance psychological health and well-being and decrease stress. The book is designed to be read in it's entirety or readers can select chapters of interest to focus on. The personal shares provided allows for a more intimate connection with the author and allows the reader to get a sense of how specific action steps have been helpful in practice. I highly recommend the book for individuals interested in personal growth and stress reduction and for mental health professionals to use with their clients.

Thank you, Jill, for this gift of a book. Having dealt with anxiety and depression for most of my life, I find the tools, advice and your voice in this book grounding --even inspiring. I carry "Trust your Intuition" around in my handbag like a bible--because it is one, of sorts. Even if you don't suffer from anxiety/depression, it's an excellent guidebook for living your life with purpose. With each chapter, you learn to flex the self care muscle, build trust in yourself and learning to say yes to what the universe has on offer.

A "HOW-TO" on life!

This book should be required reading for ALL freshmen in college! At a time of life when one is faced with so much uncertainty, this book can be used as a guide for those inevitable difficult decisions. It invites self-reflection. The Call to Action sections, after each tip/technique, makes one reflect on how the tip can be used immediately. There are some practical reminders, such as Smile, and others that cause a more in-depth look at oneself, such as Listen to Your Anxiety. This book would make a great gift for ANYONE, not just those diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I highly recommend Jill Sylvester’s latest book Trust your Intuition! This book is filled with so many helpful tips to help people of ALL ages deal with life’s everyday struggles. I purchased this book last year but as a parent of 4 young children I didn’t have the time to complete it until the world stopped for us in March. Loved this book!

I received my copy of this book yesterday and it will definitely be a book I gift to friends. It is full of non-judgmental tips to help improve your life and deal with what we all seem to be dealing these days, nasty anxiety! Jill Sylvester has shared a wealth of wisdom in bite-sized pieces that are easy to read and so applicable to everyday life. It’s such an engaging book that I couldn’t limit myself to one tip per day. Incredible resource!

This is not the type of book you read once, this is the type of book that you keep at the ready to refer back to often! Such amazing helpful hints. I absolutely love the call to action sections. Just knowing that there are little things you can do that will ultimately make a big difference helps a lot. We all experience some anxiety in our lives and we all want stronger mental health and this book is just perfect.

It’s an easy read and everyone has the tools if we use them.

I absolutely loved Trust Your Intuitions. I finished reading it a week ago and have been using the tools to deal with everyday stresses and it’s help me so much. I’m adding a new tool almost everyday. It’s so simple and we all have the tools if we just use them. Jill you did such a great job writing this and can’t wait for what is next. I’m not a big reader so for me to tell you I couldn’t put the book down speaks volumes.

This is a MUST HAVE if you're ready to make changes in your life and here's why: 1.) change = baby steps, and it's spelled out beautifully in this book . 2.) It's a light and simple read, yet so rich with tips and suggestions. 3.) Most Helpful

This is a must read for anyone dealing with depression or anxieties. Ms. Sylvester's knowledge and understanding of these topics has depth and breadth. Her suggestions are more than helpful when dealing with these issues. I leave her book "Trust Your Intuition" on my coffee table and pick it up daily, open it to a random page and read that particular topic. And that is my mantra for the day.

Just the book needed to help guide you

This is an easy to read guide on how to better listen to to the answers already inside you. It will help you tap into your intuition with actions you can take. It is bursting with little nuggets you can carry with you. The thing I really love about it is that it is accessible and not overly complicated like so many self help books are.

Not an easy topic to define, yet Jill is able to describe with clarity what many of us feel in our daily lives. Daily Dose of Reassurance

TRUST YOUR INTUITION is a gift!! I had to take a moment to write this review because Trust Your Intuition has resonated so profoundly. The author's decadeslong personal and professional experience have served to inform this rich and extraordinarily insightful book. In many ways, Trust Your Intuition is deeply personal, yet its application is universal. Jill Sylvester has struck a balance to which many aspire, but few achieve. For instance, her generous "personal shares" conjure a rare, tangible "knowing," that none of us is in this alone. Insightful accounts of the battles each of us wages within are joined with authentic advice regarding the tools we can use not only to prevail in those battles but to ultimately win the war with our inner "gremlins," invariably inspiring enlightenment. She shows us precisely how to locate the light switch on the wall - and reminds us of our power to turn on the light when our gremlins seem to want to keep us in the dark about our truth--our goodness, and perhaps most important, our agency. We always have. Jill has the rare gift of reaching the reader in ways that resonate because she has also walked the walk. Consequently, Trust Your Intuition's unique value is perhaps attributable to her personal shares--her stories of waking to the light within, with deep emotion that allows the reader to feel lighter and brighter while inspiring hope with the turning of each page. Jill Sylvester's depth and breadth of authenticity pervades the book. For me, Jill's words have comforted in the way that a favorite seaside retreat might inspire--or a chat with your Mom, best friend or partner, or the that new weighted blanket brings a sigh of relief from whatever it is we are aiming to quiet. Within her pages come a quality and level of contentment that is often difficult to locate and absorb. I believe it is because her words are authentic, her shares are weighty, and her intent to drape the reader in happiness and light is undoubtedly a primary goal. One can't feel alone when they read Jill's words. A quotation that resonated for me: "Write down your ideas. Like a magician who pulls the never-ending scarf out of his mouth, keep writing, keep crying, keep expressing until you have nothing left. Then see what remains." At the end of the day, we learn where to find the light switch, and not only how to turn it on to diminish the darkness, but that we each and every one of us has the ability to flip the inner script--to live in lightness, and to shut out the darkness in which the human condition can sometimes inspire us to dwell.

A must read for all ages!!!

I bought this book in paperback as well as audio so I would always have it readily available! Having 5 kids this has become a necessity to help navigate them through challenging times. Watching my oldest 2 kids in college go from happy and carefree to stressed and anxiety ridden was so difficult to see. Although they love school, they didn’t realize the magnitude of responsibilities and stress that come along w being a college student thousands of miles away from home. This book has helped me help them! It’s like having a built in therapist and life coach not only in my own life but my kids’ life as well. As I started writing the review I was reading aloud my audio and my 14 year old son asked if he could read it! The author makes it feel as if she is speaking directly to you and makes you realize you are not alone in your journey. Maybe some of the messages I was reading aloud, my son is feeling but afraid to Share with me. He clearly felt the authors inspiring, thoughtful messages were speaking to him as he has truly never asked to reAd any other book. Trust your intuition is life changing and a must read!

Trust your intuition and buy this book!

I just love this book! It offers such valuable tips that apply to everyone. Some will read it front to back, others will flip through haphazardly, but all will go back to it again and again! It's like 100 baby steps to a better, calmer, more fulfilling life. I love the format because each person is different and relates to things differently; with 100 tips at your fingertips, some will naturally resonate with you more than others. I highlight these and return to them over and over when I need guidance. The personal shares are a favorite. They bring life to the advice and make Jill seem like a dear friend, there to give me help along my daily journey! Thank you, Jill, for putting so much passion and honesty into your work!

Wonderful advice delivered in just the right way

I listened to the audiobook and loved it. I have struggled with anxiety for a long time. This book is a wonderful collection of practical advice you can put into action TODAY to get started on a path to better mental health. My favorite part is the authors delivery. It isn’t too flowery or too stern. It is real. It’s as if your best friend was giving you tips on how to break out of your funk. I highly recommend to others look for ways to take steps towards a better version of themselves.

Transform for Stronger Mental Health!

I absolutely loved this book! 100 different little ways to help you truly live your best life. Jill writes in such a clear, no-nonsense way about the stuff we all struggle with from time to time. I really love the Call to Action sections that challenge you to put the tips to use in your own life; and the Personal Shares that let you know how Jill herself has been impacted by these issues and how she implements the tools and techniques she writes about. Eye opening

I found this book to be very eye opening. The author beautifully defines what intuition is, the importance of listening to it and gives many helpful lessons on how to put it into practice. It’s a book I think everyone should read and I highly recommend it

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this little book.

I absolutely loved this book. An entreating title suggested I might strengthen my intuition and finally put my anxiety to good use. I bought it - and was floored. Don't let its size fool you. "Trust your Intuition" by Jill Sylvester is full of life-changing pearls. It stays by my bedside and I regularly re-read passages and immediately feel Jill's strength and wisdom guide me. She's well ahead of most of us on this journey and her personal shares are powerful reminders of where you can go from where you might be. I'm so thankful I found this book when I did as it's helped me tremendously to navigate this tenuous time.

Amazing life tool

Trust your Intuition remains right on my night stand where I can open and navigate through life’s little curve balls. I cannot stress enough how helpful this book is especially now in the middle of a pandemic when emotions are constantly up and down. My dear friend happens to be the author and she absolutely nailed it! Everyone needs to read this book then you’ll see why you will never put it away when your done. It will remain out as your life’s little handbook and you WILL learn how to listen to your inner voice.

I love this book by Jill Sylvester! You can open it every day and find a chapter with an easy to read strategy to bring you fully into the present. For those battling anxiety, including some of my own clients, I have and continue to recommend this book. Keep it by the bedside..and read it little by little, or again and again! A great tool to add to your spiritual tool kit!

Trust your intuition book review

Recently I’ve learned that I have both depression and anxiety. My dad gave me this book thinking that it would help me to learn to be able to cope with it better. I can honestly say that this book has both taught and helped me so much throughout my journey with depression and anxiety. I defiantly recommend this book to anyone struggling with depression and/or anxiety as it has helped me form a positive mindset.

Fantastic guide to live life with purpose and trust your gut feelings

This is one of those books everyone should have to learn to use your intuition as an invaluable personal self-help tool. I thought the technique's and insight for how to do just that we're spot on. I've enjoyed reading other books from this author and take her advice and guidance seriously.

easy to follow and very effective

Honestly this book is a must have for anyone who has ever struggled with mental health. With short, easy to read chapters and techniques that force your brain to "reset" its negative patterns, this book is like a mental health Bible for me that I go back to again and again!
