Amazing!
With his knack for dramatic but clean compositions, Treadway will make you feel like you are hiking some of the world's most dramatic trails! A feast for the eyes, and motivational for both seasoned trekkers and armchair travelers.
Good but needs improvement
Content is good, but quality control could use improving. Middle of the book pages weren’t cut properly, and stuck. Back cover had sticky adhesive bits on it. Poor for a gift - had to clean and repair.
LOVED THIS BOOK
This book is a skosh smaller than a coffee table book, but I’d set it there nonetheless because you’ll want to pick it up again and again to feast on what you see and read. The chapters are short but packed full of history, description and handy information that captures one’s imagination. The photographs are stunning, especially the one of the Himalaya where I have been so I’m prejudiced. Treadway captures the magic, the mystery and the vastness in his photos and I felt I could step into them and get a feel for what it would be like to be there. Brief histories of the regions are short and to the point, descriptions of the terrain are too, and hooray, hooray! altitude is given in meters and feet. The whole package rings true which only happens when the authors’ lives have been profoundly affected by their subject matter: mountains and living and breathing them. Their love of wildlife and nature shines through, their respect for it, their awe. This book will inspire you to get out of your living room, head for the airport, hop the next plane out of your routinized life and spend time in one of these spots that will change your life. Promise.
Armchair Hiking
This is a beautiful photographic armchair travel book along many famous hiking trails around the world. Maps and practical advice is also included. The essays are informative and easy to read. The photographs however make the book more than just a guide book. Enjoy
Don't Buy!!!
I don't write reviews but i just thought to say how bad the book turned up like. There was two knife slashes on the front cover and the pages were bent! Don't recommend and I'm sending it back!!!!
